No. For starters, streaming service discounts tend to cluster around holiday seasons, especially Black Friday and Cyber Monday. With 2025 seeing big price hikes at several platforms (including HBO and Disney Plus), it's likely services will continue to jack up prices, if only due to rising inflation.

Not convinced? The current 2025 deals are unusually steep – e.g. Disney+ + Hulu bundled for $4.99/month — a 60-70% discount off typical rates. Starz is offering 12 months for just $1 per month. Waiting will almost certainly come with higher base costs.

Finally, there's no guarantee 2026 streaming deals will match or beat 2025’s due to rising licensing/content costs. Take Apple TV, for instance, which just spent an estimated $750 million for the exclusive U.S. streaming rights to Formula 1 for five years, starting with the 2026 season.

Our advice is to act now and lock in the Cyber Monday price cuts while you can.

There used to be an ESPN Plus free trial but it's no longer offered. So if you want to try the service before you pay for it, you're out of luck. Sorry!

Is there an ESPN Plus bundle right now?

Here's where this article gets a bit more useful; there are a fair few ESPN Plus bundles that'll help you save money compared to buying services individually.

The first one that I should briefly touch on is the ESPN Plus annual plan; costing you $119.99 for a year, it roughly costs you the same as ten months of a subscription, giving you an extra two for free.

Next we get to the Disney Bundle; this combines Disney Plus, Hulu and, on its higher tiers, ESPN Plus too. For sports you'll want Trio Basic, costing $16.99 per month, or Trio Premium, for $26.99 per month, which lets you stream from Disney Plus and Hulu without ads.

For context the ad-enabled tiers of the three plans would usually cost you $31.97, so you're saving a lot of money. If you already subscribe to Disney or Hulu, or are considering doing so, this is a good money-saver.

Another option which is coming up in the future is Venu Sports. This streaming service, which is set to cost $42.99 monthly, is set to combine ESPN Plus with all sports broadcast by Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery.

Venu Sports hasn't launched yet and we don't quite know when it will, but we expect it to very soon. When it comes, we'll have more information on what it'll actually show.

If you're currently an ESPN Plus subscriber, you're able to upgrade to the Disney Bundle with ease. Hopefully that'll also be the case with Venu Sports but we'll have to wait to see.

If you live in the US, you'll currently be able to enjoy a pretty good Apple TV Plus deal to reduce the monthly price of a subscription, although no equivalent is available in other countries.

New or returning subscribers can currently enjoy their first three months of subscription for $2.99 per month, down from $9.99. The deal runs until Thursday, April 24.

Is there an Apple TV Plus free trial right now?

Of all the streaming services on the market, I feel confident saying that Apple TV Plus is the best for offering free trials.

Anyone can sign up for a week-long free trial but if you're a member of another service or buy another product, you can get anything from one month to a whole year thrown in on top. Generally the Apple TV Plus trials are three months long but we see a wide range, and they come via all sorts of different subscriptions: your mobile contract, your broadband provider or even your gym could offer you one.

Is there a Apple TV Plus bundle right now?

Technically, plenty of the above free trials could count as bundles, but I'm actually going to use this section to detail a more traditinoal kind of bundle you can use to save money on Apple TV Plus.

First of these is Apple One, which is an all-inclusive package for all of Apple's streaming services. That means you get access to Apple TV Plus as well as Apple Arcade and Apple Music as well as an allotment of iCloud storage, so it's designed for iPhone, iPad or Mac users. Plans start at $19.95 / £18.95 per month and increase with higher tiers getting you Apple Fitness Plus, Apple News Plus and more iCloud storage, as well as the ability to share your plan with up to five people.

While Apple One costs more than Apple TV Plus, it's a lot cheaper than signing up for all those services individually, so it's a good money-saver for Apple users.

Next up we've got the sports bundle. Alongside the main streaming service, there's Apple TV Plus MLS. This separate plan is purely for Major League Soccer streaming, for live games and other footie content.

The MLS plan usually costs $14.99 / £14.99 per month or $99 / £99 for an annual plan but if you're a subscriber to Apple TV Plus' standalone plan, you can get a discount on the MLS one. This brings it down by $2 / £2 per month or $20 / £20 per year so it's not a huge saving, but it'll be one that MLS fans want to get in on.

How to watch Apple TV Plus free episodes

One other Apple TV Plus deal that's worth bringing up is free episodes.

Apple TV Plus lets people who aren't subscribers watch the first episode of several of its shows. Not all of them, by any means, but a fair few.

Is there a Peacock free trial right now?

Peacock used to offer a free trial but it hasn't done so for several years.

So no, you can't sign up for a Peacock TV free trial now, and I don't imagine that'll change any time soon.

Is there a Peacock bundle right now?

Peacock isn't in any bundles similar to the Disney Bundle, however there are a few other ways to save that fit into this category.

Firstly, Peacock offers annual plans that cost the same as ten months' of a monthly one: $79.99 for the ad-enabled tier and $139.99 for ad-free.

Secondly, a few telecoms companies offer bundles that'll help you. You'll need to be a customer to the service to get it.

Both NOW and Xfinity have bundles that combine Peacock, Netflix and Apple TV Plus, while Verizon has one that pairs Peacock and Netflix

Can existing Peacock subscribers get deals?

Generally, deals on Peacock is not available for current subscribers to the subscription service. They're only for new subscribers and, presumably, returning ones who've been away for a while.

You will be able to switch to the annual plan if you're on a monthly one though, and that counts as a money-saving option.

If you've been paying close attention to the Cyber Monday streaming deals, you'll know that they're all about to end in a matter of hours. However that's not the case for the Fubo Cyber Monday deals.

Fubo has confirmed two things that make its deal even better. Firstly, while the deal was initially for $20 off your first month, it's now actually $30 off, saving you even more money on the live TV streaming service. You can see the deal below.

Secondly, the deal will remain active until the end of December. Basically every other Black Friday / Cyber Monday streaming deal ends at midnight on Monday, December 2 (Cyber Monday) so Fubo has pipped its rivals to the post on this front.

The one exception to both of these points is on Fubo's Latino plan. This is $14 off for your first month and the deal is active through Sunday, December 15, which is still way later than Fubo's streaming rivals.

Of the many Cyber Monday streaming deals, there wasn't one on Netflix... however, the streamer is still celebrating the annual sales season, with massive discounts across the board in its official Merch store. Once again Netflix is offering a site-wide discount, which gets you 30% off anything you can find.

I've recently started testing Amazon's new TV for a review, and while I've not been using it long enough for a whole summary about the quality of this TV, I can say one thing: the Black Friday TV deal on it is really good!

I'm talking about the Amazon Fire TV Omni Mini-LED (one of the two new sets that Amazon released in November 2024). This is a 4K set with mini-LED tech and a 144Hz refresh rate, and it comes in 55-, 65- and 75-inch versions (plus a gigantic 85-inch version in the US!).

Judging by my testing, and more importantly my flatmate's "wow" when I plugged it in, it's a good-looking set. I also appreciated how the Ambient Experience means you can 'use' the TV even if you're not watching shows, as a way to stream music or show moody backdrops.

There's a Black Friday sale on the Omni Mini-LED too (which is technically an introductory low offer, but it ends when the other Black Friday deals do on Monday, December 2). And there's a reason why it's especially good.

There are several Black Friday TV deals on the Amazon Fire TV Omni Mini-LED sets. Let's get into them now, first with US prices and then UK ones.

Why this Black Friday TV sale is so good

The reason I'm so surprised by this deal is that... well, it exists at all!

I've been covering technology for nearly 7 years now, and you quickly learn something: the price of gadgets start high, and slowly lower over time. Different companies' gadgets will lower in price and different speeds, but the same direction stands true: start high, go low.

That's definitely true of deals too. We rarely see discounts on brand-new products, and you usually have to wait about 6 months to start seeing sales. But not for the Amazon Fire TV Omni Mini-LED apparently.

While this discount is only for about 15%-20% off, depending on which model you're looking at and where you live, that's still a lot more than the 0% off I was expecting. So it's really good!

I haven't been using the Amazon Fire TV Omni Mini-LED for long enough to review it, but my initial responses are positive. It offers you value for money, especially with this deal, and looks good. So barring any issues which arise from long-term use, like buttons falling out or the panel spontaneously combusting, it could get a good review.

A simple Netflix subscription can get you access to thousands' of hours worth of movies and TV shows. But you know what gets you even more videos? Four streaming services, all for less than the monthly price of Netflix, and this is possible thanks to the Black Friday streaming deals.

There are plenty of promotions on streaming services thanks to Black Friday sales, most of which end on Monday, December 2. And there are multiple ways to combine them to bring your monthly cost to less than that of Netflix.

Netflix's cheapest tier is its ad-enabled one, which will set you back $6.99 per month, and with no Netflix Black Friday deal, that price won't go any lower. There's also tiers for $15.49 and $22.99 but bundling streaming deals for under that cost wouldn't be hard.

I'm going to show you a few streaming combinations to save you money on streaming services compared to Netflix, but before we jump in, let's look at some of the deals available:

With a fair few Black Friday streaming deals out there, there are actually a fair few ways to bundle four streaming services for a low price.

Unfortunately, unlike last year, there's no way to crank that to five streaming services. But four is still decent number, and there are loads of different options.

Here's a few combinations. They mostly hinge on the fact that Max is a bundle of two streaming services.

• Max ($2.99) + Discovery Plus (free with Max) + Hulu ($0.99) + Disney Plus ($2 when bundled with Hulu)

This one will cost you $5.98, so you're saving over $1 per month compared to Netflix. I've prioritized the Hulu and Disney bundle because it lasts for two months, while some others don't. The Max deal is for six months.

• Max ($2.99) + Discovery Plus (free with Max) + Hulu ($0.99) + Paramount Plus with Showtime($2.99)

We can swap out Disney Plus for Paramount Plus for an extra $0.99, though that deal is only for a couple of months.

• Max ($2.99) + Discovery Plus (free with Max) + Hulu ($0.99) + Peacock ($1.99)

We can do another bundle that's $1 cheaper than Netflix by bringing in Peacock instead of Paramount Plus or Disney Plus, and it's technically the cheapest combo on this list, but only by a single cent.

You might have noticed that I didn't bring any Prime Video Channel deals into the mix, and that's because you need to be a Prime Video subscriber to get them. If you're not, the extra cost will make this pricier than Netflix.

If you're happy trying to undercut Netflix Standard, not Netflix Premium, you can bundle all of these Black Friday streaming deals and more for well under its $15.49 monthly price. And if you think four streaming services is too many and only want three, again there are countless combinations of the above deals that'll save you loads of cash.

If you're a keen purveyor of Black Friday streaming deals, then you'll already know that Netflix generally isn't one to offer a discount on subscriptions. That doesn't mean it avoids the sales entirely... well, it didn't, but in 2024 it has.

Last year there was a fantastic Netflix Black Friday deal in the streamer's merch shop — or should I say, 'on' the merch shop, because basically everything that's sold in the Netflix Shop (which you can find here, if you didn't know about it) was offered for 50% off over the weekend.

This made the sale fantastic for picking up gifts or treats — I bought a discounted card game as well as a Bridgerton snack set (for someone who I thought, at the time, had seen the show, oops!). However in 2024, there's no Netflix sale on merch, so buying gifts is a lot harder (or more expensive).

I thought turning to the Amazon Black Friday sales would be an easy fix but if you search 'Netflix' in the ecommerce giant's search bar, you simply get a load of discounted projectors which are billing themselves as good for Netflix. In my family, a projector or streaming stick wouldn't be considered a very thoughtful gift, so it was back to the drawing board on that one.

Eventually, though, I managed to find a few Black Friday deals that'd be good for a Netflix fan that you know. Here are my top three picks, for some inspiration.

1. Fancy popcorn

I've always liked the idea of food and drink as a gift, as long as it's something fancier than they'd normally buy for themselves, as a treat. I love receiving spices, oils and alcohols that I'd normally consider out of my price range.

Well, there's a great option for Netflix fans in this vein. If you know someone who likes snacking while streaming, why not buy them something really nice to munch on? Case in point, there are loads of deals on gourmet popcorn on Amazon.

Given that Amazon made its name as an online bookstore replacement, you shouldn't be surprised that there are loads of book discounts during Black Friday. These include standard price cuts as well as Kindle sales and more.

I don't like buying clothing as a present, mainly because it involves making the risky guess of someone's sizing, but if you're bolder (or better-informed) than I, you'll be happy to know that Netflix's merch store isn't the only place you can buy branded clothing.

A simple search for "[show name] clothes" on Amazon brings up loads of options, in different colors and sizes, and with a huge range of discounts too. My computer could barely load the number of Stranger Things hoodies and t-shirts discounted!

There are also clothes for watching Netflix: comfy socks, ponchos and hoodies, pajamas for snug watching. Loads of gift options!

Socks are inoffensive; you can't buy someone the wrong size of socks, right? Or what about a hoodie: buy the biggest one possible, and it'll be snuggly right?

Case in point: I once bought a TV in a Black Friday deal that was too big for the cabinet I had. I ended up having to balance it on an assortment of boxes and blocks to see it (and it didn't last very long, but for reasons based in my clumsiness rather than this Tower-of-Pisa situation).

So to help you make sure you're picking up the right Black Friday TV deal, I've written this quick checklist of things you should consider.

How big should your TV be?

With Black Friday sales making TVs cheaper, you might be tempted to opt for a bigger set, just because you can afford it. But this might not always be the right decision, and the best set for you might not be the biggest.

TV sizes are measured, like most screen sizes, in inches diagonally from opposite corners. So a 55-inch TV will be — you guessed it — 55 inches from bottom left corner to top right, and so on.

The first thing you need to know before you buy a TV is what size you're looking for. You need to make sure your wall, stand, mount or corner-of-living-room has enough space for the set you wish to buy, and a simple tape measure check will do.

The size of the room is also important — you don't want to buy a TV so small that everyone has to squint to see it, but you also don't want a set so big that you have to move your head to see the whole thing!

The best way to judge is simply use your current TV as a guide (something I wish I'd thought of sooner...). Bear in mind that there are certain standard TV sides: 32, 43, 50, 55, 65, 75, 85 and 100+ inches. Some brands have different options, but mostly those are the sizes you're looking at, so you'll have to shift up or down a bracket instead of picking by exact inchange.

What operating system should you pick?

Nowadays, it's almost guaranteed that any new TV set you pick will be a Smart TV, coming with its own operating system so you can open apps and use other features all from its interface.

If you're used to one operating system, then it can be really handy to buy a TV that's on the same one — this saves you from having to learn a whole new way of using your TV. Saying that, it might limit which sets you pick.

Amazon's Fire TV is one of the biggest, with its own sets as well as Panasonic, Hisense and Toshiba selling sets which use it. It's quite a cluttered operating system but its sets tend to be cheap.

Samsung's TVs come with the company's own operating system, and Roku makes TVs which have its own interface too. However other companies make Roku TVs including TCL, Ferguson and Sharp.

Android TV is another big one and most big TV brands use this in some of their sets like Sony, TCL and Hisense.

As you can tell, some brands make TVs with different operating systems, so make sure to do your research into 1) what operating system you're currently on (if you have a Smart TV) and 2) what operating system your chosen new TV has.

Do you need a high refresh rate?

This one's going to be a short one, but it's something to consider if you're a gamer.

High refresh rates make motion look smoother, and while most TV sets easily hit the refresh rate that movies and TV shows come in (and sometimes exceed it, using digital motion smoothing), gamers sometimes need more.

Some games consoles and computers support up to 144Hz refresh rate, which is super fast and makes games look great — but not all TV sets do. So if you're a gamer with a top-end console, you might want to try and find a set that does hit 144Hz.

How will you display your TV?

Something that I (and many other people, judging from anecdotes) forget is that your TV will come in a box just with the TV, and it's up to you to find a way to display it.

Maybe that means a stand, maybe that means a wall mount, maybe that means a cabinet to hold it aloft on. Either way, you need to know how you'll keep your set upright, and will possible also need to buy something to aid in this.

Some TV deals let you pay a little bit extra to have the set installed for you, and so if you're a bit worried by the prospect of setting up a new set, this could be well worth the money you're paying.

Do you even need a TV?

Before you click "add to basket" you should be definitely sure: do you really need a brand-new TV?

If your current set has been accidentally dropped, knocked or damaged (or if, like on the TV set in the rental property I moved into recently, someone had clearly lit a candle on the shelf under the set and burnt a hole in the body of the set!) you might want to buy a new set simply because your current one doesn't work properly.

And if you haven't upgraded in years and years, and your current set only displays in SD or in (shudder) black and white, you definitely need a new set.

But if you've got a current Smart TV, or even a non-smart TV that you like the look of, there might be other ways you can upgrade in the Black Friday deals without shelling out for a brand-new set.

I'm always an advocate for streaming sticks like the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, which you can plug into a TV to turn it into a smart TV. These are really cheap (especially with Fire TV Stick deals) and might stop you needing a new TV. Another option is, if you want an audio upgrade, buy an Amazon Fire TV Soundbar. These can boost the sound quality of your movies and TV shows and sound better than the default audio quality in all but the best TVs.

In 2024, the Black Friday streaming deals are much, much better than they were last year. If you're looking to sign up for one or two of the promotions in order to check out some new TV shows or movies, you might be wondering which are worth getting.

There are plenty more deals this year than last year, with plenty of streaming services that sat on the sidelines last year offering Black Friday 2024 deals. Plus many services are offering multiple deals, on different plans or lengths of subscription, than last year,

So which streaming deal should you sign up for in 2024? Well, to help you out I've looked through every monthly Black Friday subscription offer, and have ranked them all so you have some recommendations on which to pick. And trust me, there's a big winner.

I've judged each of the streaming services based on the size of the discount, the new low price, and the amount of time which the deal lasts for, to find the best ones possible. For the ease of comparison I've only looked at monthly plans on standard streaming services, discounting annual options and live TV streaming deals.

Lots of the major streaming services are offering fantastic Black Friday streaming deals, but for the most part these are on the mainstream platforms and only for new subscribers. So if you're a returning subscriber or want a more niche subscription, what do you do? Well, that's where Roku steps in.

Like with the Prime Video channels deal we've seen, Roku has announced a huge range of discounts over the Roku Channels. These let you you pay a little bit each month to see extra videos populate your Roku device or TV home page.

Some of these affect the major streaming service's channels like Paramount Plus, Max or Discovery Plus, but lots of them are let you sign up for smaller channels which you might not consider otherwise. History Vault? Lifetime Movie Club? A&E Crime Central? All are discounted.

To get one of these Black Friday channel deals, you'll need to own a Roku streaming stick or TV, and all you need to do to get the trial is sign up for the service through your Roku device. You'll need to do so on or before Monday, December 2 in order to get the new discounted price.

There are multiple reasons why my favorite Black Friday streaming deal is my favorite. It's on premium TV platform Apple TV Plus, and it gets you three months of streaming completely free.

Obviously, any promotion that nets you a bonus for no money is great, especially an Apple TV Plus Black Friday deal because most of my favorite shows from 2024 are on the platform. You'll be able to watch Bad Monkey, Sugar and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters without paying. I'd sign up for this deal if I didn't already watch the shows for coverage!

This isn't a deal offered by Apple, because in all my many years of covering Black Friday, I've never seen one (not counting Apple TV Plus free trials). But other companies come to the rescue and that's why this Roku deal is really big.

Yes, it's technically a Roku deal: anyone that owns a Roku streaming stick or TV can sign up for Apple TV Plus for free for three months (and there are some other Roku Channel deals you can find here). Bear in mind that Roku devices are as cheap as $17.99 right now because they too have Black Friday deals on them. So it's cheaper to buy one of these (the Roku Express is the cheapest one) than pay the usual $9.99 fee for your first three months.

I'll list some Roku deals below that you can pick from, and the company's TVs and streaming sticks alike are on offer. All you need to do to get the free three months of Apple TV Plus is sign up through your Roku device until Thursday, January 2 when it expires. Once you've bought and received the Roku player, you'll need to set it up quickly to get the deal, because this only works if you sign up on or before Monday, December 2.

When it's working, set up Apple TV Plus and you'll be prompted with the promotion to try the streaming service for free.

Technically, you don't need to have bought a streaming device to make the most of this deal, so if you already own a Roku TV or stick you can make the most of it too.

What terms and conditions are there?

According to Roku's terms and conditions:

"Apple TV+ offer ends 2/1/2025 at 11 pm ET. Available in the Apple TV app on Roku streaming devices. New subscribers only. Plan auto-renews until cancelled."

However if you just can't wait to sign up, because you've heard great things about Landman (pictured above) or want to see the new season of Tulsa King, you'll be happy to know that there's already a discount on the streaming service via another platform.

That's because the Prime Video channel Black Friday sale has begun, and it dramatically reduces the price of a subscription to one of its multiple channels for two months. And yes, one of these is on Paramount Plus, so if you're on Prime Video you can already sign up.

Prime Video channel Paramount Plus deal

You're getting Paramount Plus for over 75% off with this deal, so it's a great option for people who are already subscribed to Amazon Prime or Prime Video.

But before you jump to sign up, I'd advise caution. This deal is great for people who've never used Paramount Plus before and want to get a taster of its content.

If you know you'll use Paramount Plus a lot, though, I think you should wait for the streaming service's own deals. They'll likely reduce the price by a similar amount, but will probably last for longer.

Last year, the Paramount Plus deal reduced the price of a subscription to $1.99 for three months (admittedly, the usual cost was only $5.99 then).

I expect a discount this year to last for at least three month, partly because that's what happened last year and partly because that's how long the UK official deals last for.

So if you want three months instead of two, you may want to wait for the official Black Friday deal on Paramount Plus. And if the unthinkable happens and there isn't one, this Prime Video deal lasts until Monday, December 2 so you can just want and sign up then.

Something all Prime Video fans have been waiting for has struck: the Prime Video channels Black Friday sale has begun, and there are some serious savings to be had.

For the uninitiated: Prime Video Channels are optional add-ons to Prime Video which add extra movies, shows, sports or live events for an extra monthly fee. They range in price and video-quantity and many of them are standalone streaming services in their own right, like Paramount Plus and Apple TV Plus.

As part of its Black Friday sales, Amazon has cut the price of most of these channels for your first two months, as long as you sign up for them before Monday, December 2. That is, in the US, and we're still waiting on UK sales.

I always love to sign up for the Prime Video channel deals as a way to see extra videos, and many streaming fans opt to jump on this Black Friday streaming deal too. So to help you find one for you, I've listed every single one below.

Deals to avoid

As well as the above Black Friday discounts on various Prime Video channels, Amazon is advertizing various channel bundles which save you cash if you sign up for multiple channels together.

The thing is, while these are being promoted alongside Black Friday deals, they're not actually part of the sales, and they're always available. The discounted prices are reduced compared to the channels' usual cost, not their Black Friday ones.

That is to say, if you sign up for a bundle now, you're going to be spending more than if you simply signed up for the channels separately. There's no harm in enjoying whatever channels you want now, and then signing up for bundles in February when the discounted deal prices end.

Black Friday Prime Video channel deals in the UK

For the most part, Amazon's Black Friday deals on Prime Video channels haven't begun in the UK... but there's one exception:

We'll update you when more sales occur in the UK. Last year, the UK Prime Video channel deals for Black Friday began a few days after the US ones, and it's very possible that the same could happen this year.

We've gotten to the point where there are so many classic TV shows and movies, that it can be hard to know what to watch — or how to afford it! Luckily I'm here to help you solve both problems thanks to the Black Friday sales.

The Amazon Black Friday sales are currently underway, until Tuesday, December 2, and of the many deals across the site there are many on DVDs and Blu-rays.

Remember discs? The things you used to watch movies and shows from before streaming services? They're a great way to make sure the movie you love or the show you're binging is easily accessible to watch, for if (or when) it gets pulled from streaming.

So to find you something to watch, I've compiled a list of all the Black Friday DVD and Blu-ray sales I've found on films or series that have over 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. This is an aggregate of every movie or season in the box set, which rules a surprising amount of stuff out!

It's probably a bit early to refer to a movie that came out in 2023 as "my favorite Christmas movie" but I'm doing it; The Holdovers jumped straight to the top of my list when I saw it and now you can watch it at home for half price thanks to the Black Friday sales.

The Holdovers is about a teacher (played by Paul Giamatti) who's forced to stay at a boarding school over Christmas to babysit a poorly-behaved student (Dominic Sessna). They butt heads initially but start to connect, with help from the remaining school chef (Da'Vine Joy Randolph).

• Will there be a Black Friday deal on Prime Video channels?

It's a heartwarming story that's pretty funny too, perfect for people who don't connect with the tawdry Christmas movies that get pumped out every year. The 97% Rotten Tomatoes critics score and several Oscar nominations speak for themselves!

While The Holdovers is streaming, on Prime Video in the US and UK, movies come and go from these services, and so I don't know if it'll stay there forever. That's one of the reasons DVDs and Blu-rays are so great: you can pay once and watch it as many times as you like. Plus The Holdovers has an alternate ending and deleted scenes on the disc that I'm curious about!

While Blu-rays (and even DVDs) can often cost quite a lot of money, especially considering it's a 2-hour video, a Black Friday discount is really great to make them somewhat more affordable. Here's what they cost in the US:

In the UK, there's also a Black Friday deal on The Holdovers in its 4K Ultra + HD format, but not on its DVD or standard Blu-ray format.

When do the Black Friday deals end?

Most of Amazon's Black Friday deals are expected to end on Tuesday, December 2, which is the day after Cyber Monday.

What's on the physical copy of The Holdovers?

If you stream The Holdovers, you just get the movie, but the physical disc has a lot more.

There are some deleted scenes and an alternative ending included, and I'm curious to buy the movie just to see these.

Plus, there are behind-the-scenes documentaries introducing you to the cast of the movie, as well as a video on what it was like working with the director Alexander Payne.

The DVD version of the movie has everything on one disc but if you get the Blu-ray or 4K versions, it's spread over two discs.

The word 'Netflix' is synonymous with streaming movies and shows online, and the streaming platform is the most subscribed-to of any on Earth, with a large library of Netflix Originals and third-party videos (and, recently, live content).

Will Netflix have Black Friday deals on subscriptions?

Based on past years, it seems very unlikely that there will be a discount on a Netflix subscription over Black Friday.

In the last few years, Netflix hasn't budged its price over the sales period, and we've got no reason to believe that'll change in 2024. In fact, there's even more reason to believe that the streamer will retain its usual prices.

That's because over the last year, Netflix has been rolling out the Netflix with ads plan, giving subscribers who want to save money on a subscription a tempting option without sales.

So that's the end of the article, right? Not quite. Because even though there probably won't be a Black Friday deal on Netflix subscriptions, the streaming service likely will still offer a sale...

We should also put a caveat for streamers in the UK. While Netflix doesn't offer a deal on subscriptions, Sky TV does, and it includes a Netflix subscription as part of every one of its tiers. So while Sky TV does cost more than Netflix, it's technically still a deal that'll net you access to the major streamer, and you can find out more in our Sky TV Black Friday deals page here.

Will Netflix have Black Friday deals on anything else?

In past years, Netflix has offered sales over Black Friday, specifically on its online merch store which in 2023 saw discounts to basically every product listed online.

The Netflix merch shop has clothing, costumes, games, mugs, posters, gift sets, vinyls, books and more across its various franchises.

There are items based around its biggest franchises like Squid Game, Stranger Things and Bridgerton, as well as certain newer ones. Some shows and movies which have merch lines available ahead of Black Friday include Emily in Paris season 4, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F and Cobra Kai season 6.

There's already a merch line ready for Outer Banks season 4, which is due to release on Thursday, October 10, and Heartstopper season 3, which is set to arrive one week earlier on Thursday, October 3.

Beyond Netflix's own merch sale, we'll likely see discounts on Amazon that could affect Netflix-related items. For example the books that The Witcher is based on, or the comic books that inspired The Umbrella Academy, can be bought online and will possibly see discounts.

At the time of writing, the Netflix merch store doesn't have a Black Friday deal running, despite having a Black Friday landing page on the site. We'll update this page as soon as the deal starts.

The Black Friday Event page on the Netflix Shop lists quite a few Stranger Things posters and tops as well as a sole cuddly Bridgerton toy, but none have discounts. We expect that this will change as Black Friday gets closer.

There are two ways to get discounts now, though. Firstly, signing up for the Netflix shop mailing list gets you 15% off an order (you can't miss the prompts if you go onto the website, they're everywhere). Secondly, the store is constantly running discount codes on various types of item, sometimes hoodies, sometimes homeware, sometimes other things. The website will be covered in notifications about these codes too.

For all of the Black Friday deals on Prime Video channels listed so far, Amazon has shared the end date of Monday, December 2. It's not clear when during this day (which is Cyber Monday) the discounts will end, so it'd be safest to sign up in advance.

Since Prime Video is officially a 'perk' of an Amazon Prime membership, there won't be discounts on a subscription itself, but Amazon might find ways to incentivize you to sign up.

Previously it's improved the free trial on Amazon Prime to get you to sign up, especially with the membership bringing next-day shopping on lots of your Black Friday purchases.

When Black Friday is going on, you won't be able to open up the site without seeing discounts, deals and sales littered across its platform. Basically anything you can buy on the website could see discounts.

One of the reliable streaming deals we see every Black Friday and Cyber Monday is on Max, and sure enough one popped up this year... but just as reliably, it won't last forever, and you've not got long until it expires.

The Max Cyber Monday deal ends at some point on Monday, December 2 (which is today if you're reading this as it's being written). Max hasn't said when during the day it'll end, but most other streamers' deals end at 11:59 pm PT so it could be the same.

This Max Black Friday deal will save you 70% on the monthly fee of a Max subscription for half a year, so you can catch up on all the latest Max shows (I'm prepping for House of the Dragon!).

Max is one of the most expensive streaming services out there, with its wide library of Warner Bros. movies, HBO shows, Discovery factual programming and quite a bit more, all setting you back between $9.99 and $19.99 per month.

It's unlikely that Max would stagger out its Black Friday deals, and I feel pretty confident that this is the only tier that'll see a price cut.

Why a Max Black Friday deal could be doubly good

When I was doing some research into Max's previous Black Friday offerings (it was a year ago, okay, I can't remember that far back!) I found a Reddit post from someone who'd taken Max up on the offer last year.

After working through their six months of discounted subscription and trying to cancel, Max had offered them a further three-month subscription for a reduced price of $5 per month.

In fact, the more I researched, the more I found other users recounting a similar experience. So while a Max deal might seem like it's set for a limited time, the streamer is obviously keen to keep you subscribed.

Obviously, this deal is applied on a case-by-case basis, and so not everyone will get it. Therefore we can't treat it like a 'full' deal, but if you simply can't decide between two streaming services, it might help tip the balance.

There are few types of gadget, item or subscription service that don't see Black Friday discounts, so if you want to test out a different streamer or want to buy a nice big TV to watch Max on, there will be options out there.

There were a fair few Black Friday deals on streaming services in 2023, and this could be the case in 2024 too. Hulu, Peacock, Paramount Plus, Fubo and Philo also saw discounts on monthly subscriptions of various lengths.

You're going to need to get your act together to pick up the best Cyber Monday streaming deal, because there's now less than 24 hours to go until the unbeatable Hulu discount ends.

In case you missed it, the deal is simple: you can now sign up to Hulu, and it'll cost you just $0.99 per month for a year. That's no typo, you're really saving $7 per month  or over $80 over the course of your entire run, on a Hulu with ads plan.

In addition, you can add the streaming service Starz for 6 months, and it'll cost an extra $0.99, or throw in Disney Plus and it'll cost only $2 extra each month for the entire year.

However this deal, which originally began for Black Friday, is nearing its end: after Cyber Monday you've only got until Tuesday, November 28 to sign up before the discount is lost to the dust of time.

Hulu is one of the major US-only streaming services, with a large library of movies and shows including plenty of originals.

Over Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2023, this Hulu deal has been the best we've seen; by that I mean, it's the one that saves you the most money. In fact, I ranked all the streaming service discounts based on money saved, and Hulu was by far the best.

If you're interested, you need to sign up quickly to make the most of it. Hulu only stated the end date as Tuesday, November 28, with no particular time. For other streaming deals this has usually indicated 11:59, but some do it as ET or PT, and there's no indication that Hulu has done so either. So we'd recommend acting quickly if you're interested.

If you've been browsing through all the Cyber Monday streaming deals and wondering which to pick up, then you should probably make a movie on: the Peacock deal has less than 24 hours until it wraps up.

In case you missed it, you can currently sign up for Peacock for just $1.99 per month, for an entire year. That's a saving of $4 per month (the standard price is $5.99), or $48 in total, a nice little saving!

However you have until Tuesday, November 28 to pick up this deal, before it's gone for good. It's set to close at 3 am ET in the morning too, (or midnight PT on the 27th), so for all intents and purposes, you really have to sign up today in order to pick up the deal.

The Peacock deal is one of only two Cyber Monday deals that lasts for an entire year's worth of streaming. The other is Hulu, with its $0.99 per month deal.

Peacock is the streaming home of NBCUniversal content. That includes Universal's movies (like The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Fast X) and classic and modern TV shows like 30 Rock, Poker Face and The Traitors US.

It's a particularly great platform for movie fans, and you can find some of the new movies streaming on Peacock here. But TV fans have just as much to like, and there are even live sports quite a bit too.

Want to save loads of money on streaming this Cyber Monday? If you act fast, you can sign up to 5 streaming services for less than the monthly price of Netflix, but Peacock isn't the only deal ending soon!

If you live in the UK, then you should probably know that you've got less than a day in which to sign up for one of the few Cyber Monday streaming deals on offer right now.

This deal is open to anyone with an Amazon Prime subscription and applies to the company's streaming service Prime Video. You can currently sign up for one of the Prime Video channels for just 99p per month for your first three months, saving you money on these optional add-on packs for the streaming service.

However you'll need to act fast: this deal ends on Monday, November 27, and once it does you'll have to pay £4-£5 per month to subscribe (which is the usual price of each of the services).

This deal is usually the pinnacle of the streaming discounts each year, however Amazon has only actually reduced the price of three streaming services in the UK. They are:

• Crime + Investigation Play (true crime documentaries)
• MGM (MGM-produced movies and shows)
• StudioCanal Presents (StudioCanal-distributed movies and shows)

Crime + Investigation Play is, as the name suggests, a channel full of true crime documentaries and series. It usually costs £3.99 per month, so you'll be saving £9 in total for three months of streaming. If you're curious, it actually offers free episodes so you can test out its content.

Next up, MGM is a channel for... well, MGM-produced movies. It's great for classics like Terminator, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and The Silence of the Lambs, but has plenty of modern movies too including Eddie The Eagle, Sicario and Tomb Raider. It's mainly for movies and this deal will give you a great selection for film night for the next three months! It usually costs £4.49 each month

Finally, StudioCanal Presents is for movies distributed or produced by StudioCanal, which again has a great selection of movies including Rambo, Apocalypse Now, Paddington, The Host and Ran. So it's great for classics but it's also really useful for older or world hits that aren't always easy to see in the UK. StudioCanal Presents is usually £4.99 per month, but if you subscribe to ITVX Premium you already have access to the streaming service, so there's no need to sign up here.

The great thing about this Amazon deal is that, while you might not normally want to pay £5 every month just to catch a few old or foreign movies, you can sign up for the deal and enjoy the library for less than the price of a meal deal.

If you want a streaming expert's opinion, I always sign up for one in the deal (usually there are a lot more). Last year I picked up StudioCanal Presents and got to catch up on some movies I hadn't seen in years, and also world movies that aren't on other streamers (like Train to Busan or Mother). This time I'm probably going to sign up to MGM and try and get through the huge number of westerns on there.

When I'm watching movies at home, I like to do so with a projector that's plugged into a nice big loudspeaker — it makes for a nice home theater experience and I barely spent any money on it.

These are the Sony WH-1000XM4, and they're currently $100 off at Amazon. If you live in the UK they're also reduced, but only by £30, so it's not as great a deal.

So what's so good about the Sony WH-1000XM4?

For one, the noise cancelation is absolutely fantastic. I never have to worry about noisy neighbors, the rumble of my washing machine or the train that runs under my house, and they don't distract my movie. This makes them particularly great if I want to watch a TV show on my commute.

Secondly, the fit is comfy. I've tested loads of headphones and earbuds from my years in tech journalism, and comfortable-feeling headphones are surprisingly hard to come by. The Sonys feel light on the head and have cushioned and soft pads so I never get aches or rubbing from wearing them.

The audio sounds fantastic and the battery life is really long too, and so I'd recommend these to anyone who watches movies on smaller devices. Don't use your phone or tablet speakers, or cheap buds that you found in the sales: if you really want to enjoy watching movies or TV shows, the Sonys are the way to go.

I understand, though, that they're expensive even with the deals on, and some people won't want to justify shelling out hundreds of dollars on premium headphones. Don't worry, though, there are other headphones in the Black Friday sales, and you can use our AI bot to help you look for others.

If you're a streaming fan, you've probably heard of the fantastic Disney Bundle, which gets you a subscription to Disney Plus and Hulu for just $9.99 per month... wait, what's that? Apparently, right now you can sign up for those two for only $3 per month?!

That's right: as I write this, you can sign up to two of the best streaming services for less than $3 per month, which has got to be an all-timer when it comes to amazing Black Friday streaming service deals.

That is, of course, why this discount is running: Black Friday has brought discounts to loads of streaming services. Hulu has had the best discount by a long way this year, but not everyone is aware of the fact that you can combine it with Disney Plus (which hasn't had its own deal) for only a little amount more.

The Disney Bundle is a really popular way to sign up to streaming services, with 40% of Disney Plus subscribers in the US using the plan as of November 2022. There are a few tiers, with ESPN Plus added or ads dropped in higher ones (the above deal is for ed-enabled streaming, or Disney Bundle Duo Basic).

As we said, you can sign up to Hulu alone with the deal too, or add on Starz for another $0.99 per month. There's no standalone Disney Plus deal though.

At $2.99 for Hulu and Disney Plus, you're getting two streaming services for less than the price of Netflix, and are locked to that low price for an entire 12 months. And who knows, maybe Black Friday next year could have a similar deal?

There have been so many popular movies released this year that it can be hard to remember them all... unless you pick up the new Black Friday streaming deal on a Peacock subscription because then you've got them all at your fingertips.

I've picked five great movies, all of which were added in the last year (since the last Black Friday season) that are worth checking out. And of course, all are on Peacock.

Fast X

Fast-Ten your seatbelts as John Cena says in the trailer: the tenth iteration of the Fast and Furious franchise came out in the middle of the year and is now available to watch on Peacock.

This movie follows as Don Toretto (Vin Diesel) has his family threatened once again by the son of an old baddie who's out for vengeance, played by Jason Momoa, and there's as much car racing and vehicular wackiness as in the past nine movies.

Unlike the previous movies, this is the first of a two-parter story, and Fast 11 is expected in 2025.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie

The second-biggest movie of the year (which would be top if not for that pesky Barbie), The Super Mario Bros. Movie was an absolute smash hit for kids.

The video game adaptation tells the story of a Brooklyn plumber called Mario who, along with his brother, is sucked into the magical Mushroom Kingdom. There he has to fight the evil Bowser to save Princess Peach alongside a cabal of the video game's well-known characters.

Given that many families spent lots more than $24 just going to see Mario on the big-screen on repeat, this deal seems like a bargain in Mario-obsessed households without any of the other entries on this list.

Five Nights at Freddy's

While Five Nights at Freddy's did get a theatrical release, it came out simultaneously on Peacock, so you can watch this new movie as part of the deal.

Another game adaptation, Five Nights at Freddy's tells of Josh Hutcherson's Mike, a down-on-his-luck man looking after his little sister who takes on a job as the night security guard of an abandoned fast foot outlet. However the animatronic creatures who were once the draw of the restaurant may still have a life of their own...

Despite being a critically-panned low-budget horror movie, FNAF has somehow become one of the highest-grossing movies of the year... despite having a simultaneous Peacock release!

Knock at the Cabin

Since we're on the topic of horror movies, let's look at Knock at the Cabin, the latest M. Night Shyamalan picture.

This is about two men and their adoptive child who are on vacation in a cabin in the woods, when four strangers appear. They tell the family that, unless one of the trio is sacrificed by the other two, the world will end. What seems like a lie is brought into question when calamities around the world begin, leading the family to have to make a hard choice.

A popular movie from the beginning of the year, Knock at the Cabin is a tense thriller that is well worth a watching, just so you can join in discussions as to what the ending actually meant!

Asteroid City

If you want something a bit weirder, then you can find the newest Wes Anderson movie on Peacock too: Asteroid City.

The movie is about the cast of characters who descend on the dusty town of Asteroid City at the time, and witness events that cause them to question everything. That's a very vague plot description, but to say more might give away the movie! The cast includes Jason Schwartzman, Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, Bryan Cranston, Michael Cera, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton, Adrien Brody, Maya Hawk and more. It's a long list!

While this isn't the most popular Wes Anderson movie, it's still a pleasant watch, whether or not you're a fan of his quirky style.

We don't give out five-star reviews very often here at What to Watch, and one of the few movies that we've felt deserved it this year is John Wick: Chapter 4, released near the beginning of the year.

In our John Wick: Chapter 4 review we called it a "near-perfect action movie" that was "perhaps the best in the genre since Mad Max: Fury Road". If you missed it when it came out, you can see it for a greatly reduced price now.

That's because Black Friday DVD deals have come for Mr. Wick like the enemy assassins in the movie. Unlike Johnny's enemies, they've been successful: John Wick: Chapter 4 is now available on Blu-ray and DVD for some huge discounts. In fact, they go up to 75% off!

Well, that'll be because the first two options have no deals in either the US or UK, while Past Lives only has a relatively modest discount in the US and nothing in the UK. If you're a fan of mystery, there may not be a better streaming service to have right now than Hulu, with the new series A Murder at the End of the World highlighting the latest example of a high-quality series available to watch. If you're a fan of Black Friday deals, then you're also in luck, because Hulu's Black Friday deal is one of the best around and gives you no excuse to miss out on A Murder at the End of the World and all of the other mystery series on Hulu.

Starting with the deal: $0.99 per month for 12 months, that's crazy. Streaming services keep upping their prices, with most of them costing you $10-$15 per month. But between now and Tuesday, November 28, you can get a year's subscription to Hulu (with ads) for $12; that subscription normally runs $7.99 per month.

The first thing that you should watch when you sign up for this incredible deal is A Murder at the End of the World. This new series comes from Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij and stars Emma Corrin as young sleuth Darby Hart, who in the series has been dubbed the Gen Z Sherlock Holmes. That reputation is put to the test when she attends a tech billionaire's lavish retreat in Iceland and guests start winding up murdered. The series also stars Clive Owen, Harris Dickinson, Alice Braga, Joan Chen, Raul Esparza, Jermain Fowler, Ryan J. Haddad, Pegah Ferydoni, Javed Khan, Edoardo Ballerini and Marling.

I've watched the first three episodes so far (that is all that is available as of right now, with new episodes releasing on Tuesdays) and I am hooked. Corrin is great as Darby, while the first few episodes have effectively balanced the growing mystery and her origin story. We'll see how things play out, but Darby could definitely become a character that we enjoy watching crack cases in possible future seasons. 

But A Murder at the End of the World is not the only mystery show on Hulu right now that is worth checking out if you sign up for the Hulu Black Friday deal (or if you're already a subscriber but just haven't gotten around to them yet).

On the near opposite end of A Murder at the End of the World is Only Murders in the Building. Instead of Corrin's Gen Z detective, Steve Martin and Martin Short are the ones on the case, though they have Selena Gomez as their partner as well to bring some 21st-century perspective. As you'd expect, with Martin and Short, the series is a comedy, but that doesn't detract from the complex and satisfying mysteries the show strings together. Only Murders in the Building season 3 just wrapped a little bit ago, while Only Murders in the Building season 4 is on the way.

Another Hulu mystery show that you should give a try is Black Cake, which is based on Charmaine Wilkerson's novel about how one mother's harrowing/mysterious past life has impacted her children in the present day. The series has a 100% "Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so watch to find out why.

Also, while not a mystery in quite the same way as these other series, a Hulu subscription will also let you keep up with the crime drama Fargo season 5 starring Juno Temple, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Jason Leigh and more. The show airs its latest episodes first on FX on Tuesdays before being available to stream on Hulu on Wednesdays.

There's no mystery here, the Hulu Black Friday deal is basically too good to pass up and once you have it, you can start watching all of these shows and more for a fraction of the normal cost.

I usually use the Black Friday streaming deals to pick up 'discounted trials' for services I want to use. While few services actually offer free trials anymore, the deals let me get discounted access to streamers so I can test out their offerings.

That's a little hard in 2023, though, and it's because the deals are too good — or should I say, there are too many of them. I wouldn't be able to watch all the movies and TV shows from every single reduced streamer out there!

So I've been purveying all the deals to work out which to pick up, and it's become clear that not all streaming deals are equal. They offer varying amounts of money off, but over different periods of time too, so it's a little tricky to work out which is offering the best deal.

To help me mathematically work out which streaming service discount to opt for, I decided to properly work out how much money was offered by each of them, so I could strategically pick whichever option was best for my bank account. I figured this information would be useful for you too, so here it is: I've ranked all of the streaming service deals, by how much money off they offer.

1. Hulu is the clear winner

2. Peacock a respectable second

3. Max a close third

4. Paramount Plus a distant fourth

I've covered Black Friday deals for various websites for over five years now, and it's helped me hone a radar for good and bad deals. Yet this year, there's been one price cut that I just can't decide on.

This is on a Lego set that I've long yearned for: the Lego Icons kit based on Rivendell from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. It's the only Lego box to contain all of The Fellowship from the film and there's a lot more besides. It's every Lord of the Rings fan's dream.

Here's the catch: it's one of the priciest Lego kits, retailing for £429.99 normally. Way out of my price range! And in the Black Friday sales, it's got a price reduction at Amazon... of £40. Or 9%. It's still £389.99!

I've been going forward and backward on whether this is a good deal or not.

On the one hand, £429.99 down to £389.99 isn't a huge price cut in the grand scheme of things. It doesn't really make the set any more affordable in a meaningful way, and even for Lego (which typically doesn't see huge reductions from Black Friday deals), 9% just isn't much.

On the other hand, any reduction on such a pricey set could be seen as a great thing. Lego's expensive sets (the ones past about £200) very rarely get price cuts in Black Friday, and the few that do are almost always Star Wars ones. Every penny helps after all.

In the end, I think the answer depends on your budget.

I personally can't justify spending nearly £400 on a Lego set, not when I have to pay London rent (any chance of a Black Friday deal on that?!) so this Black Friday deal doesn't work for me. But if you were on the fence about buying the set at full price, even £40 might be enough to sway you.

While some streaming services rock out the same tired Black Friday streaming deals every year, others are pretty varied; case in point, Max (formerly HBO Max at this point last year) has unveiled its annual discount, and it's a big improvement.

This year you can pick up Max's ad-enabled plan for just $2.99 per month for your first 6 months, down from its usual price of $9.99 for a saving of $7 each month or 70%. Pretty neat!

Last year the price cut was greater, down to just $2, but only for your first three months. Given that you're getting a much longer-lasting discount this time around, we're counting it as a much better deal.

If you're anything like me, you use the Black Friday streaming deals to pick up loads of juicy discounts on streaming services, test them out by catching up on their library, and then drop them when the discount runs out.

I'm planning to do basically the exact same thing this year too. Which begs the question: what's been added since last year's Black Friday deal? In truth, the answer is "a lot". There are all the new Warner Bros. movies and HBO series that have come out in the last year, plus the entire library of Discovery Plus which has been made available to watch for Max subscribers since 2022.

To make your library browsing somewhat easier, though, I've selected five new additions that you should check out, that weren't on Max at this time last year.

The Last Of Us

There's no big-budget flashy George R.R. Martin story this year, but Max has another tentpole TV show in the form of brooding video game adaptation The Last of Us.

The show stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay as two survivors living 20 years after a fungal zombie apocalypse, who have to embark on a road trip across America in the hopes of returning the latter to her people. It's a dark and gripping voyage that's got a second season already on the way.

The Last of Us came out at the beginning of the year so its entire run is available to watch on Max, though the second season is a long, long way out, so this deal's 6-month period will very likely have lapsed by then.

Blue Beetle

There are plenty of Warner Bros. superhero movies from this year, but instead of The Flash or Shazam 2, I decided Blue Beetle should be the one to raise; it didn't do amazingly at the box office, but it's picked up a lot of attention since it was added to Max.

The movie, which was once envisioned as a Max original before a theatrical release was decided upon, is about an alien parasite that grafts itself onto a normal boy Jamie Reyes (played by Xolo Maridueña) which turns him into the superhero Blue Beetle. From then, he has to battle a tech CEO who wants the parasite while protecting his family.

The movie hit theaters in August and, at the time of writing, it's only been on Max for a few days. Yet in that time, it's gotten loads of people talking about it.

The Meg 2

Of all the other Warner Bros. movies this year, I've begrudgingly decided to settle on The Meg 2 as the other to recommend. Is it a great movie? Not quite, but it's fun, and will be a welcome counterpart to the slow, brooding TV dramas on this list.

The Meg 2, a sequel to — you guessed it — The Meg, brings back Jason Statham as shark-fighting deep-diving Jonas Taylor, who has to save the world from a new prehistoric megalodon that's even bigger than the one in the last movie. Plus there are more sharks, an octopus and weird dog creatures too? 

I should reiterate that this is a dumb fun action movie but if you stock up on snacks and drinks this'll be a fun watch with a group of people. I don't regret paying money to see it in the theater!

Succession season 4

Perhaps Max's biggest show this year was the final season of Succession, its political and business drama which repeatedly received fantastic reviews and was beloved by audience.

In a nutshell, Succession is about the backstab-happy Roy family, the co-owners of a media empire who are keen to oust one another to become the successor to the throne after patriarch Logan Roy (played by Brian Cox).

It's a tightly-written and dramatic show that kept people guessing until the end, and now all four seasons are on Max. 

Our Flag Means Death season 2

Keeping with the nautical theme from before, Our Flag Means Death was a big hit when it debuted, and its second season recently debuted on Max.

The show follows a group of pirates, based vanishingly loosely on real figures, as they bumble about the high sees getting into hijinx, meeting famous figures and embracing lots of LGBT+ romancing. It has a fantastic cast including Joel Fry, Rhys Darby, Kristian Nairn, Ewen Bremner, Rory Kinnear, Nat Faxon and more.

The entire run of Our Flag Means Death season 2 (and the original season) are on Max, after the finale at the end of October.

People are always asking whether there's a Fubo free trial, and for good reason: Fubo is one of the priciest live TV streaming services on offer, especially if you opt for the higher-tier bundles. Thankfully a new Black Friday streaming deal can save you more money than even a free trial would.

If you're a new subscriber, you can sign up for Fubo now and receive $40 off your first month's bill. For the second and third month, you'll get $20 off each, totting up to $80 over your first three months of streaming. 

This deal covers the Fubo Pro ($74.99 per month), Elite ($84.99 per month) and Ultimate ($94.99 per month) plans, and the main difference between each is the number of channels you can sign up for. Just note, the Fubo Latino plan isn't covered.

An end date for the deal hasn't been announced yet, but it'll probably keep running until Cyber Monday.

Usually when we're recommending Fubo to people, we do so by mentioning the Fubo free trial. Unlike many streaming services in this day and age, Fubo still offers a free trial to test it out (here's how to sign up). 

However it's only a 7-day free trial, so you're only saving $20-$25 worth of streaming time. This new deal can save you over a month's worth of subscription (if you opt for the Pro plan), so it's actually better than the free trial.

Aren't the Black Friday streaming deals all about saving money? Well that's the mantra of Philo TV all year round, but it's offering an extra discount for your first month of membership to help you save even more cash.

Despite Philo TV's monthly fee of $25 being a bargain compared to the $40 of Sling TV or $70+ of Hulu with Live TV, DirecTV, YouTube TV, Fubo and so on, there's a new Black Friday deal on the budget streamer which somehow makes it even cheaper.

Until Tuesday, November 28 (the day after Cyber Monday), you can sign up to Philo and get your first month at half price, or just $12.50. This lets you test it without committing lots of cash upfront.

Philo comes in at #6 in our list of the best live TV streaming services, as while it's incredibly cheap, its channel list is quite limited. 

The channels tick lots of the basics with Lifetime, MTV, Food Network, Comedy Central, AMC and so on, but there's less news and sports content than most people like. It's mainly for entertainment channels and doesn't offer premium options or tiers. 

That being said, for some people, we can imagine Philo TV offering everything you need, and we'd definitely recommend you check out the Philo channel guide just in case it ticks all your boxes. 

Plus, it's the cheapest entry in our aforementioned list, and is the lowest-costing live TV service overall unless you count the free streaming services.

At $12.50, Philo is cheap enough that it's easy to sign up for just a month to test it out, as you can just cancel afterward if it's not for you. You won't need to buy any extra hardware or streaming kit for it, as long as you've got a smart TV or compatible device (thankfully Philo has a supported devices list).

We should also mention that Philo TV's Black Friday deal isn't the only one we've seen on a live TV streaming service, as there's $80 off your first three months of Fubo. While that's a bigger discount and gets you many more channels, you'll still have to pay more upfront.

Another year, another Black Friday streaming deal that makes Paramount Plus a lot more affordable for a few months; and if you're anything like me, you'll use the regular Black Friday discounts as an excuse to test out new streaming services.

This year you can pick up the Paramount Plus Essential tier for just $1.99 for your first three months, with the price reverting to its usual $5.99 after that. While this isn't as great a deal as last year's (that offered 50% off an entire year's plan), it's less commitment for people who aren't sure on Paramount's streaming service.

There's no deal on the Paramount Plus with Showtime tier, and nothing in the UK just yet.

Lots of people are like me, and they pick up the Black Friday streaming deals to catch up on all of the new additions to each streamer for the past year (and if that's you, our Black Friday streaming service deal page might be useful). 

But let's look at Paramount Plus: a fair amount has been added in the last year, and while unfortunately lots of it is on the pricier Showtime tier (not included in the deal), there are some shows worth watching that this new deal will give you access to.

So here are five of the biggest new shows and movies added to Paramount Plus that you should check out. All of these have been added since last year's Black Friday deal ran.

• Paramount Plus original series: everything on and coming to the streaming service

Spec Ops: Lioness

First up is one of Paramount Plus' flagship new TV shows, and it's spy thriller Special Ops: Lioness, starring Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidman.

This show follows a young marine who's enlisted in the CIA's Lioness program, an elite course that tasks her with infiltrating a terror group from the inside. It's a jet-setting action show, but half of you probably already closed this article and started watching it as soon as we referred to it as a 'spy thriller'.

Special Ops: Lioness is one of the many shows to come from hit TV icon Taylor Sheridan, and we'll be seeing his name further on this list too...

Frasier reboot

First there was Cheers, and then there was Frasier, and now the latter is returning with the Frasier reboot which is one of the bigger new Paramount Plus releases of the year.

The show follows Dr. Frasier Crane, a members of the Cheers cast originally, who now returns to the Boston of that original show to start a new life there. It's a comedy helmed by Kelsey Grammar and a new cast of side characters.

The Frasier reboot is currently mid-way through its season, but by the time your three-month trial ends, it'll all be available to watch.

Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

A fun summer blockbuster movie that was slept on a little bit was Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, but now you can see it from home as Paramount Plus is the official streaming service for this flick.

Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is a "fantasy heist action comedy film" according to Wikipedia, and the number of adjectives slapped onto it aside, it's a fun time. It's about a rag-tag group of fantasy archetypes who have to team up to stop an order of evil wizards who work with a traitor from the group to bring about disaster. It has an all-star cast including Chris Pine, Michelle Rodgriguez, Hugh Grant and Justice Smith.

D&D wasn't a box office smash hit but it was reviewed really well, so if you missed it in theaters, now's your chance to see it.

Organ Trail

While most movies added to Paramount Plus are its big-budget blockbusters, some smaller ones are added to, and that's the case with Organ Trail.

This is a western thriller about conflicts arriving in rural Montana: a group of settlers on the Oregon trail, some bandits who live in the area, and black homesteaders who are trying to make a home for themselves all clash as one girl tries to get out alive. Despite the name, it's not a horror movie, just a violent one.

While Organ Trail has so few reviews that it doesn't have a Rotten Tomatoes score, it's a different type of movie to the usual Paramount productions, so could be a nice breath of fresh air. When I pick up the deal, this is going to be my first watch!

Lawmen: Bass Reeves

The latest flashy Paramount Plus production — and newest Taylor Sheridan-produced show, and next Western on this list — is Lawmen: Bass Reeves, the first part of an anthology show on various American lawmen.

Bass Reeves is a dramatized story of a true person, a Black Montanan US Deputy Marshal who put away lots of bad guys in his time, after fighting in the Civil War. It stars David Oyelowo as the character as well as Dennis Quaid, Lauren E. Banks and Donald Sutherland.

The show has only just begun, so new episodes are rolling out weekly, but you can already see a few on Paramount Plus to get a taster.

Only 20-odd contestants get to star in each series of The Traitors, but if you missed the call-out for The Traitors season 2 then there's another way to play: at home. 

No, we're not being coy about you heckling the show from your sofa; a popular The Traitors board game was released in August and it quickly proved a hit. If you haven't played it yet, a Black Friday deal might make it a lot easier, ready for you to sew distrust across your family or friends for Christmas.

Normally, 'The Traitors - Official Board Game' (as it's called) costs £26.99, but a few different stores are reducing it in the sales. The best at the time of writing is Amazon, selling it at £18.32 in a limited-run sale, but Very is close behind at £19.99

The board game does its best to replicate the experience of The Traitors. While it doesn't come with Claudia Winkelman or tickets to a Scottish castle, and no-one will be winning any part of £120,000 (well, unless your family is very generous), it does a good job of creating the same kind of doubt and skepticism that the show does with its players.

In the game, players must go on 'missions' to rack up a prize fund, while one traitor has to murder as many players as they can to get a bigger slice of the final prize fund. 

The game is intended for players 12+ and can be played by between 4 and 6 people, though unlike in some games, you can't really create teams of multiple people as you have to wear a blindfold for some sections.

The Traitors Board Game has proven really popular, and in just a few months has found its way into lots of homes. I even know people who own the game that never even watched the show!

If you don't want the whole board game (or already own it), there's another version that's not a board game but a card game, which was also licensed out by the BBC. This one is cheaper and allows for more players, but I can't say I know anyone who's played it and it's made by a different company, so take it with a pinch of salt.

The Traitors Card Game: was £11.99, now £9.99 at Amazon

The biggest box office hit of the year is Barbie, which has made well over $1 billion already, but Warner Bros. might not be making much more money from it, because a new Black Friday DVD deal makes the physical disc so cheap that the company is basically giving it away.

Many US retailers are cutting the cost of Barbie on DVD and Blu-Ray, but Target is the real winner. Not only has it slashed the price of the movie, but on top of that, it's offering buy-3-get-1-free on loads of new and classic movies. 

As well as Barbie, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Across The Spider-Verse, Cocaine Bear, Black Adam, Fast X, the D&D movie and Top Gun Maverick are offered, as well as plenty of other hits too.

Here's where we'd normally pitch what Barbie is about, but it's made more money than the GDP of Grenada; you've heard all about this movie, and you know what it's all about. And if you're in the minority who hasn't... do you have $8 or $10 spare? You can fix that issue quickly!

Blu-ray and DVD sales can often be a little spotty, and so this Barbie discount is fantastic. To give it more context, it actually costs more than that to buy digitally. Online video platforms sell it for $12.99 (rent for $5.99), so buying the actual disc is cheaper!

If you live in the UK and can't get this Target deal, then you're also in for some bad news about the Black Friday DVD sales in the UK: Barbie isn't included in them. You'll have to pick it up for full price, with Amazon currently selling it for the cheapest: £9.50 for DVD and £14.99 for Blu-Ray. Find it on Amazon here.

It's the best time of year to buy physical media and that's because the Black Friday DVD deals and Blu-Ray deals are here, so you can pick up a new disc or a classic box set for much cheaper than usual.

Technically speaking, Black Friday is on Friday, November 24, but online and high street retailers trip over themselves to begin their discounts sooner and sooner this year. So DVD sales have already begun all over the web.

Here are some things you should know, if you need some advice.

Also consider that some movies from the year, notably Oppenheimer, aren't available on DVD yet at the time of writing, so if you want this you will have to wait.

I'm usually a bit of a Black Friday deals naysayer, especially when it comes to Lego which is often given pretty mediocre discounts, and a new early deal has proven me right. 

A new Harry Potter deal is so good that I'm convinced it'll be better than the Black Friday sales, which are expected to begin properly tomorrow. It's on the Lego Hogwarts Castle set, bringing it down massively.

We're currently in 'early' Black Friday season, before the day itself on Friday, November 24, but there's really no need to wait with great Lego deals like these. 

Lego has been putting out a few super-expensive sets over the last few years, especially with giant Star Wars kits, replicas of real-life vehicles and buildings and the amazing Lord of the Rings Rivendell build. But when it comes to Harry Potter, this set is by far the coolest, despite the price.

This set is one of the top-tier Lego sets for adults, which are charactized by large brick counts, expansive set sizes and, most distinctlely of all, humungous prices. In fact, the Lego Hogwarts Castle is the second most expensive Lego Harry Potter set of all, only beaten by the Hogwarts Express which is £20 more.

Well, I should say that it was the second most expensive, because this £100 off deal makes it a lot more affordable. 

It's highly unlikely that this Lego deal will be broken in any of the upcoming Black Friday sales. Not only do the pricier kits rarely get discounted, most price cuts we see are around 10-15% of the value of the set. John Lewis has reduced the set by a full 25%, which I don't imagine will be replicated by any retailers.

So if you're looking for a Black Friday Harry Potter deal, whether it's to buy yourself a gift after a long year or to prepare a magical Christmas present for someone, there's really no need to wait for the proper deals to begin.

You may want to act fast too, because discounts like this often sell out very quickly. If you wait, you might miss out. Amazon's Black Friday deals are set to begin on Friday, November 17, and they'll probably bring the best price cuts on Lego sets beyond John Lewis.

If you don't want to spend £300 on a giant Lego set — or don't live in the UK, so can't access the deal — there are plenty of smaller Hogwarts sets. While they're not on sale, they're still cheaper than this super-build!

Well, the Harry Potter Black Friday deals have begun, because we're starting to see big discounts on popular magical items like clothes, Lego sets, DVDs, books and a lot more. 

While Black Friday technically falls on Friday, November 24 this year, everyone and their mothers starts pushing deals through February, and that's equally the case for Harry Potter sales.

I love DVDs — something I've made pretty clear while the Netflix DVD service was ending, including explaining why we're in need of a DVD revolution. November is often a great time for DVD deals, most prominently with Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, but there's another sale that tops the annual shopping holiday for movie lovers, the Criterion Collection sale.

The Criterion Collection is a home video company whose primary goal is "publishing important classic and contemporary films from around the world in editions that offer the highest technical quality and award-winning, original supplements." In a nutshell, they create special DVD editions (in DVD, Blu-ray and 4K formats) of some of the best movies ever made from around the world.

Because of the high quality work that the Criterion Collection puts into these DVDs, they often carry a higher price tag than your traditional DVD, with most costing at least $40. While they are worth the price if you have the money, if you're a bit more budget conscious you'll be happy to know that the Criterion Collection does a bi-annual sale that cuts the price of these DVDs in half every November and July for any Criterion Collection DVD bought on Amazon Prime or on the Barnes & Noble website or at their physical store locations.

The deal is currently underway and runs all throughout November. There are occasional "flash sales" that offer 50% off for Criterion Collection DVDs throughout the year, but those typically last only 24 hours. The Criterion Collection sales in November and July are some of the best DVD deals you will find all year.

I always make sure to add a Criterion Collection DVD to my DVD shelf when this sale rolls around. In fact, I just recently purchased the Criterion Collection version of Charlie Chaplin's The Gold Rush.

There are a number of reasons why the Criterion Collection sale has become a beloved tradition for me and many other movie lovers. The people at Criterion do an incredible job creating a unique package for the movie, including original cover art, special booklets talking about the making of the movie or its cultural impact as well as interviews and special features not available anywhere else. But the biggest reason why I throw my money down each year is because the Criterion Collection has beautifully restored movies that are extremely difficult to find.

While they are doing great work highlighting and packaging more recent movies like the collection of Wes Anderson, The Princess Bride and Wall-E, physical copies for older movies like Chaplin or Federico Fellini's 8 1/2 or Marlon Brando's On the Waterfront are often much harder to find. Some of these movies may be available to watch on various streaming services, but it's not guaranteed that they always will be, so having that physical copy is reassuring to know I won't lose out on watching them whenever I want. Speaking of streaming, the Criterion Collection also is the only way you can get DVD copies of Netflix original movies like Martin Scorsese's The Irishman, Adam Driver's Marriage Story and Alfonso Cuaron's Roma.

Also, for longer movies (like Seven Samurai) or ones featuring multiple titles from a specific director or actor (Wes Anderson or Jackie Chan), this sale allows you to buy at a more reasonable price (down to $62.49 from $124.99 on Barnes & Nobles website).

While there are other ways to enjoy the offerings from the Criterion Collection, like its own streaming service, the Criterion Channel, for any one who enjoys physical media as much as I do or perhaps wants to start their own DVD collection, there are few options better than the bi-annual Criterion Collection sale.

Even though it's only mid-November, early Black Friday Star Wars deals are giving sales hounds many of options for buying gifts inspired by George Lucas' classic sci-fi series.
