Britain’s Got Talent 2025 has given us sensational singers, dangerous daredevils, magnificent Minions and everything in between. Now the stage is set for the grand final on Saturday night - and the ITV1 show’s longest-serving judge Amanda Holden cannot wait…

"It’s always electric and emotional," says Amanda, who has a front-row seat on the panel alongside fellow judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli, as the top 10 acts from the live shows perform again for the chance to win a spot at this year’s Royal Variety and a £250,000 cash prize.

"We put our faith in our fifth judge, the viewers at home. Sometimes you read online that people aren’t happy with the winner, but it’s all a public vote on the night, so if you want someone to win, then please vote!"

In an exclusive interview with What To Watch, Amanda looks back on this series and reveals her hopes for the final…

It’s been another great year for Britain’s Got Talent. What have been your standout moments?

"Well, it’s been quite the series! Simon’s been stitched up more than ever - he’s been dressed up as Gru by ‘Minions’ dance troupe Lil Ms, then there was The Hacker who got Simon to audition on stage, then we had Kranthi Drillman, the guy who smashed melons with a sledgehammer next to Simon’s head! I bet Robbie Williams never envisioned his song ‘Let Me Entertain You’ being performed by Papi’s rubber chickens. And who could forget the terrifying Auzzy Blood!? All our semi-finalists have been amazing - and my golden buzzer acts have blown me away with their talent."

The Golden Buzzer was introduced to the live shows, which this time aired weekly. What’s been the impact of those changes?

"The Golden Buzzer has added even more excitement to the live shows. Since it began, BGT has been known for its strip of live shows during the half-term week and I feared we wouldn’t keep the audience’s attention. I needn’t have worried though as the ratings have been through the roof and it feels like a really big night out for all of us every week!"

Who do you think has what it takes to follow in the footsteps of last year’s champ, Sydnie Christmas, and win BGT?

"I’ve been very vocal this year that I’d like a large group to win, that way more people will enjoy the experience of performing at the Royal Variety and benefit from the £250,000 prize money. I loved watching our BGT golden girl, Sydnie, perform alongside Loren Allred during the live shows. What an incredible year she’s had - I adore Sydnie and I can’t wait to see what’s next for her."

You’ve been on BGT since it started in 2007. How has working with Simon changed in that time?

"Simon is a dear friend of mine. Since his partner Lauren [Silverman] came into his life, followed by his son Eric, he’s totally changed for the better. He’s so much more relaxed but likes to have fun. He still works very hard and is always thinking of ways to make the show better but it’s a real joy to still be sitting next to him. This year was BGT’s 18th birthday and we learnt this series that Simon celebrated his own 18th birthday in Magaluf, which still blows my mind!"

As well as BGT, among other things, you co-host BBC renovation show Amanda and Alan’s Spanish Job and Netflix series, Cheat: Unfinished Business. How significant has BGT been to your career?

"Getting the BGT job was life-changing for me. Our contracts are yearly, so I never take it for granted that I’ll be back each year! I’m having the busiest and best time in my Fifties, who’d have thought that? And I grab those work opportunities because it’s important to me to show my girls, Lexi and Hollie, that anything is possible if you work hard. I look up to women like J-Lo, Kylie and Davina McCall, all smashing it and looking great and I just want to fly the flag too. What’s the secret to success? Work out to enjoy a glass of rosé!"

Britain's Got Talent fans were left fuming after a new golden buzzer rule came into play for the semi-finals of the ITV show, asking bosses to rethink the format in a more 'fair' way.

In last night's episode of Britain's Got Talent, which aired on Saturday, 10th May, we saw the introduction of a Golden Buzzer for the knockouts that allowed one judge per week to send an act straight to the final - much to the distress of viewers.

'GOLDEN BUZZER SHOULD ONLY BE PRESSED ONCE ALL THE ACTS HAVE PREFORMED AT THE END... Then they can DECIDE .. I don't think this way is fair,' wrote one fan on X (formerly Twitter).

To which another fan replied, 'Let’s be honest here, they’ve already picked their winner.'

While another said, 'Totally agree as it’s not fair on the rest of the contestants am voting for Electric Umbrella as they deserved the golden buzzer when they appeared.'

And another wrote, 'EXACTLY... The seriously need to change the way the do this Golden Buzzer thing... Need to move it to the end.. When all acts are on stage together.'

While another wrote, 'Totally agree,they know who they want to go through,we all know it’s a fix.'

And another added, 'Or wait til the end and let the public put one act through, and the judges put an act through.'

Meanwhile, another social media user wrote on the social media platform, 'Really don’t understand the golden buzzer process. Surely it’s fairer to see all the acts, then pick who receives the golden buzzer.'

Meanwhile another made the surprising confession, 'I actually really preferred the live shows when there was no audience during the pandemic.

'They want every single act to be the golden buzzer and I can barely hear the judges comments over them screaming and shouting.'

And another agreed, 'I miss the live finals of #BGT being on all week @BGT you need to go back to how things were and stop with the overload of the golden buzzer.'

Other Britain's Got Talent viewers were keen to see Electric Umbrella go through, with another writing, 'Tonight’s #BGT Semi was SO infuriating - If Bruno hadn’t been harangued into using his Golden Buzzer then he would obviously have given it to Ping Pong Pang who deserved it and then Electric Umbrella would have gone through on the public vote as it should have been. Hopefully…'

And another said, 'The golden buzzer is so contrived and staged and awkward. What a joke of an inclusion for the finals.'

Britain’s Got Talent 2025 auditions have always made waves online - and few know more about becoming an internet sensation than the ITV1 show’s newest judge, KSI.

Launching his current YouTube channel in 2009 at the age of 16, KSI - real name Olajide Olayinka Williams ‘JJ’ Olatunji - dropped out of school to pursue a full-time career creating video content for the social media platform, where he has amassed over 44 million subscribers, largely among the 13-28-year-old ‘Gen Z’ crowd.

‘I was making around £1,500 a month from YouTube. I told my teacher and he was like: “Wow, why are you here!?”’ I thought: “Yeah, why am I here!?” So I left,’ says London-born KSI, 31, as he joins What to Watch for an exclusive chat.

Not content with just online stardom, KSI - which stands for Knowledge, Strength and Integrity - has also gained global recognition for being a boxer, rapper and entrepreneur. With so many strings to his bow, who better to sit on the BGT panel alongside Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli to hunt for the next big thing!?

As the auditions continue on ITV1 this week, KSI lifts the lid on talent, triumphs and, er, toe-wrestling…

You’re already an influencer, boxer, musician and entrepreneur - what appealed to you about becoming a BGT judge?

"I like the option of being able to do what I want, when I want. I feel it’s one of the reasons I’ve been so successful for so long. You never know what to expect from me; one minute I’m a BGT judge - the next I’m boxing and rapping at the same time, as a contestant! I like the freedom. Obviously it can be stressful because it’s a lot for one person, but I manage it."

How did working on camera as a YouTuber help prepare you for being a BGT judge?

"The main thing YouTube has helped me with is being comfortable within myself. I haven’t been afraid to try stuff, constantly jumping out of my comfort zone to the point where nothing really fazes me anymore. The nerves have gone and I can simply enjoy myself."

What’s it been like on the BGT panel alongside Simon, Alesha, Amanda and Bruno - what advice have they given you?

"They have all been so nice and easy to talk to. Best advice was to not be a people pleaser and to say what you truly believe in. I really just immersed myself into the BGT world and loved every bit."

Do you think BGT has brought you a new fan base - have you had many DMs [direct messages] from your followers about BGT?

"Oh, 1000% - mums now know who I am! I’ve definitely had DMs from more mature people compared to what I’m normally used to. I’m just glad the reaction has been mostly positive."

What have been your highlights from the BGT auditions?

"There’s a point in the series where I end up on stage and I’m really not enjoying myself - that will definitely be a highlight. Also, I don’t know if they’re going to put this in the edit but toe wrestling was another thing that was… interesting, ha ha! And, of course, my Golden Buzzer act, singer Stacey Leadbeatter, has been one of my biggest highlights."

Tell us more about what prompted you to press the Golden Buzzer for Stacey…

"I didn’t expect that voice to come from her. I loved her story, the fact she works in a supermarket selling chickens and then nervously comes up on stage and brings the house down. She truly blew me away - I just had to press the Golden Buzzer."

You’ve joined several acts on stage at the auditions, why did you want to get involved with them? And was there a new talent you thought you might be good at yourself?

"I’m a free spirit! I like to get involved as much as I can if I’m allowed. I just think it’s fun to try stuff. And, yeah, toe wrestling, ha ha!"

Of past BGT finalists, singers Calum Scott and Susan Boyle are among those whose auditions went ‘viral’ online, watched 398 million and 292 million times, respectively. Why is it more important than ever for BGT acts to go ‘viral’?

"Anything over one million streams/hits is viral to me. And maybe I’m biased but I feel like there have been more viral moments this season than in previous seasons. Viral moments are so important because it brings more eyes to BGT, adds to the hype of the show and ultimately brings more people wanting to watch more episodes. It’s human nature. If something is constantly creating viral moments, you’re gonna want to tune in eventually."

Which BGT acts would you say have created that 'viral' online moment this series?

"Well, Stacey has definitely gone viral [3.5 million views]. Binita Chetry, the eight-year-old dancer from India, is another example of a viral moment [2.7 million views], and eight-year-old magician, Teddy Magic, went viral, too [1.8 million views]. I could go on but moments like these definitely make a difference to BGT and the talent. My best tip to create a viral moment is do something that hasn’t been done before. Simple as that!"

If you were to audition for BGT, what would your act be and why?

"Boxing and rapping at the same time, ha ha! Because, why not?"

You’ve appeared on C4’s Gogglebox critiquing other TV shows - how would you judge yourself as a panellist on BGT?

"I’m quite critical of myself, so I think I’ve been all right. I’ve definitely brought a different energy to BGT, which has been good. There have been times where I think I’ve been too nice or let the crowd sway my decision - but I think I’ve been a good addition to the judges."

Finally, the online space can be a negative place - how important is it for you to be a positive role model for young people?

"Very important. There is so much negativity happening globally, so if I can be one of the people that brings a positive aura to the world, then I will do it. I will be the escape people need to help them forget about their problems for a moment. My main goal is to entertain - as long as I do that well, I’m happy."

Britain's Got Talent 2025 fans are set for disappointment as they tune in for the latest episode of the reality show tonight because the series is sadly taking a break.

After landing back on our screens last month, fans have been eagerly tuning in on a Saturday evening to see what weird and wonderful acts will be gracing the stage. However, ITV will tonight be airing the France v Scotland Six Nations live rugby instead of the new episode of Britain's Got Talent.

But while we have a bit of a wait on our hands, the show will be back next weekend on Saturday, March 22 at 7pm on ITV1 and ITVX as more hopefuls fight it out for a place in the semi-finals.

There is some good news for fans because if you have missed any of the previous episodes of the new series they are all available to stream on ITVX now.

There have been some amazing acts already this year, with singers Vinnie McKee and Stacey Leadbeatter earning themselves a golden buzzer, along with impressionist Will Burns, 11-year-old guitarist Olly Pearson and electric LED dance group, The Blackouts.

The new series of Britain's Got Talent has seen some big changes to how we view the show, with episodes airing every Saturday night rather than both Saturday and Sunday as it has done in the past.

But that's not the only change because the five live semi-finals which usually take place across one week airing nightly, will now air weekly, making 2025 the longest series ever.

We have also seen a new judge welcomed into the fold, with renowned music artist, YouTuber and boxer KSI covering for Bruno Tonioli for a few shows.

Fans have loved seeing KSI join Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell as they cast their judgment on the different acts and he got to press the golden buzzer for the first time in episode two after being bowled over by supermarket worker Stacey Leadbeatter from Yorkshire.

After hearing her beautiful singing voice he said: "The voice that came out of your mouth... I was in awe, I had to press that golden buzzer. You absolutely smashed it, Stacey."

The next of Britain's Got Talent 2025 airs on Saturday, March 22 at 7pm on ITV1, STV and ITVX.

Britain's Got Talent returned to screens last night with a whole host of new acts showing their skills in the hopes of getting through to the next round.

But one Britain's Got Talent act in particular has everyone talking on social media — but not for a good reason.

Young guitarist Olly, who'd been taught to play by his grandad, received a golden buzzer from Amanda Holden, but fans watching at home struggled to hear the whole performance, complaining that the backing music drowned it out.

'What we couldnt bloody hear what he was actually playing it looked like he was just doing air guitar why play over his actual sound,' wrote one Britain's Got Talent viewer on X (formerley Twitter).

He then added, 'Why are they not letting us hear what he’s playing for the stupid song.'

Meanwhile, another said, 'I’m a guitarist and I can tell you quite categorically he wasn’t playing all through that act. That is why he was drowned out by the backing tracks!'

Despite the complaints others had high praise for Olly, with some saying they couldn't believe how talented he is for an 11-year-old boy.

'WOW! Olly is AMAZING! Can't believe he's only 11 years old. What a rocker,' wrote another fan on X.

But the social media user also added, 'As much as Olly deserved the Golden Buzzer - can we please stop having the audience decide who gets a Golden Buzzer? It should be the judges choice not influenced by the audience.'

Another Britain's Got Talent viewer echoed this sentiment, writing, 'Don’t get me wrong Olly was good but he wasn’t THAT good to get the Golden Buzzer though. Hate that the audience has started interfering with who gets the golden buzzer. ITS THE JUDGES WHO DESERVE A SAY, NOT THE STUPID AUDIENCE!!'

Britain’s Got Talent fans were divided over one act during last night's show.

Stunt performers The Lazy Generation took to the Britain's Got Talent stage performing dangerous challenges, leading some to criticise the 'painful' display.

'What on earth were the producers and judges thinking of putting this dangerous, silly and painful act on TV?' wrote one fan on X (formerly Twitter).

Before continuing, 'I mean kids might try this even though it would be stupid just my opinion anyway.'

#BGT The Lazy Generation:- This is just madness - I didn't get it at all and didn't find it funny.

Meanwhile, another fan replied, with more of a positive take on the act, 'It was absolute chaos. I have no idea what they would do in the next round and I think that’s half the fun of it!

'The Glass I shouted at, but the LEGO made me swear out loud!'

Others compared the act to the US show Jackass, with another writing, 'Jackass British style. #BGT.'

However, other Britain's Got Talent viewers enjoyed the act, with one writing, 'That audition literally had me in stitches.'

Another BGT fan chimed in, praising the contestants, writing, 'Catching up on bgt and shocked to find The Lazy Generation are still going. Was so close to them about 10 years ago but lost touch. I’m glad they’re still doing the crazy stuff.'

Meanwhile another wrote of the show, criticising the current format, 'Britains got talent isn’t fun anymore, there’s no strict judges, everyone gets standing ovations and even the s**t acts get 4 yeses. back when it was good it was unpredictable… not anymore.'

To which another fan replied, standing up for the show, 'If you don’t like it, why watch? You could just.. change the channel?

'Things never stay the same forever, and to think that they would is just incredibly naive.'

Britain's Got Talent has returned to screens — and one act already has everybody talking.

Leeds-based Will Burns said on the show he can 'die happy' after wowing Simon Cowell and the other Britain's Got Talent judges and being the first golden buzzer act of the new series.

'The impressionist tonight on Britain Got Talent @willburns was brilliant glad he’s got the golden buzzer in my opinion.

But not everyone was impressed, with another fan complaining that there's a lack of original talent on the show. They wrote, 'Dance troops seem to be the same, magic the same, comedians the same.

'I mean this impressionist isn't that good, he's ok but Golden ticket worthy?? Really? It is what it is.'

To which another replied, '#BGT teddy the kid Magician at the start, #KSI being on the show and the impressionist at the end 3 highlights from #BGT 2025 launch episode.... Rest ... Best forgotten.'

While another said, 'accidentally watching Britain's Got Talent at my parents & there’s an impressionist on who is *not* good.'

And another wrote, 'Will Burns didn’t even recognise anyone!!!'

However there were plenty more compliments for impressionist Will Burns, with another Britain's Got Talent viewer writing, 'Wow, how good was Will Burns on BGT tonight he really did deserve the golden buzzer, "I cannae see man" had me in stitches well done Will you were brilliant doing Yorkshire proud.'

And another said, 'WILL BURNS A Star Is Born #WillBurns Watch That Space!'

While another wrote, I enjoyed impressionist Will Burns taking the p**s out of all those irritating over dramatic tv voiceovers I can’t stand Well deserved Golden Buzzer.'

And another wrote, 'I hope Will Burns is the first impressionist to ever win #BGT he's amazing!'

Britain's Got Talent 2025 arrives on Saturday night — but as the stage is set for more sensational singers, awe-inspiring acrobats and pole-dancing seagulls (yes, really!), there have been some changes, too.

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are waiting in the wings as auditions for this 18th series of ITV1’s entertainment juggernaut move from London to Blackpool — the UK’s home of variety entertainment.

"There's a bit of everything; singers, dancers, magicians, speciality acts, choirs and dogs — even things we haven't thought of," teases Ant, 49. "There's a lot of danger this year — there’s a moment where we were genuinely scared for Simon's life!"

Judges Simon, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli are back — and keeping Bruno’s chair warm for a few audition shows is YouTuber, musician and pro-boxer, KSI.

All judges — plus Ant and Dec — can hit the golden buzzer sending an act straight through to the live show which, this series, will air on consecutive Saturday nights!

Here, Simon, 65, and Amanda, 53, reveal why viewers should expect the unexpected…

Britain’s Got Talent is back for its 18th series — why do you think it’s still a huge success?

Simon: "It's that surprise element of never knowing what's coming next! People still think after all these years that I know what’s happening during auditions. No one tells us anything — we have no idea who's coming on until they appear on stage."

Amanda: "The show's success is testament to the amazing talent across the country that keeps it going; if it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have anything worldwide. Now it's a global show, so we invite everyone from everywhere to come on. I’m just thrilled to still be here!"

KSI is a guest judge for this series - what does he bring to the show?

Amanda: "The kids went nuts for him! I think he's going to bring in a whole generation of people that have perhaps not thought about watching our show before just because they want to see what he brings. He thrived on the panel — he's really good at giving bite-size, to-the-point opinions on lots of different things. He was also super quick to get on the stage — we couldn’t keep him off it!"

Can you tease some of the acts we can expect to see?

Amanda: "It's a really strong year, no other show can do what we do! I mean, you’re going to see everything including a pole-dancing seagull, where else would you hear that sentence?

BGT is known all over the world, evident in the fact that so many international acts come to the UK to audition. Where’s the strangest place you’ve been recognised?

Amanda: "I used to get recognised in Europe and the UK, but now it's in the Middle East, America and the Philippines. I get stopped in all sorts of weird places, like in the middle of the sea. I’ve had it when I’ve been fishing, too. The show stretches far and wide and that’s because of YouTube."

Indeed, BGT performances have had billions of views online, why do you think this is?

Simon: "I can't tell you because we didn't plan for it! I remember the clip of Paul Potts blew up, then the one of Susan Boyle went crazy; I had a feeling that one was going to be big, but I didn't know it was going to be that big. People come up to me from every corner of the world to say they’ve seen this or that clip online. It’s cool that, wherever you go, people have seen what you do. I am proud of that."

In a change to the usual format, the live shows will air on Saturday nights rather than stripped across a week, what do you make of the change?

Amanda: "It’s like a party at the weekend! Everyone can pour themselves a drink, order a takeaway and have a laugh! Or of course they can catch up on the sofa on a Sunday."

What kind of act do you think will triumph this series, winning a spot on the Royal Variety Performance and £250,000 cash?

Amanda: "I've said for years now it would be lovely for more than one person to win because then the money and the whole experience gets shared across more people. It would be amazing for a big group of people to experience the full joy of what winning all that money and performing at Royal Variety means."

Simon: "It really is open this year, I can’t predict it. It’s an incredible year and anyone could win. We want to put a smile on people’s faces - that's the best way of summing up what BGT is."

Magician Harry Moulding wowed the country with his impressive magic tricks and was crowned the winner of Britain's Got Talent 2025 – securing himself a life-changing £250,000 cash prize and a coveted place on the bill of the Royal Variety Performance. Harry performed the winning magic routine, which the judges described as 'incredible', beating other outstanding acts like dance group The Blackouts and nine-year-old dancer Binita Chetry.

Speaking of his win, Harry said on Lorraine: "I’ve literally spent every waking minute on putting everything I’ve got into those acts, some of the ideas have been things that I could only ever dreamed of and thankfully, thanks to Britain’s Got Talent, we were able to make that a reality and it’s just been a dream come true right since my audition. The whole process and journey that I’ve had has just been amazing."

In the second live BGT semi-final spectacular, Stacey Leadbeatter sailed through to the final after winning the public vote and Olly Pearson was awarded Simon Cowell’s semi-final Golden Buzzer.

Third semi-final - Saturday, May 10
In the third episode, we saw opera singer Jasmine Rice get the Golden Buzzer treatment from Bruno, while amazing dance group Ping Pong Pang went through on the public vote.

Fourth semi-final - Sunday, May 18
In the fourth round of live semi-finals, Charm got Alesha’s Golden Buzzer with his brilliant comedy routine and Hear Our Voice won the public vote following their performance of People Help the People.

Fifth semi-final - Saturday, May 24
After a standout performance involving a marriage proposal, Harry Moulding was awarded guest judge KSI’s Golden Buzzer and 9-year-old Binita’s dance performance received the most public votes, granting both acts a place in the final.

Vinnie received the golden buzzer in BGT's launch show after capturing the attention of Simon Cowell. The holiday park entertainer from Glasgow performed The Proclaimers' I'm Gonna Be to the audience at Blackpool and Simon was so moved that he pressed the golden buzzer!

What has the reaction been like since you auditioned?
It has honestly been the most amazing but craziest experience of my life. People are so lovely and supportive asking for selfies or coming up and telling how much they’re rooting for me.

Where do you hope this opportunity will take you?
My ultimate dream has been the same my whole life. I want to tour, sing to large audiences and let the world hear my original music and my versions of classics. I would love one day for people to open YouTube and Spot

Will Burns - Impressionist (went out in live semi-finals)

Leeds-based Will said on the show he can 'die happy' after wowing Simon Cowell and the other judges with his hilarious comedy act, complete with impressions of everyone from Gary Barlow to David Attenborough! Will became the first golden buzzer act of the new series when Ant and Dec rushed onto the stage to press the gold button after Will got a standing ovation for his performance.

What has the reaction been like since you auditioned?
"Nothing could’ve prepared me for some of the love that has come my way, thank you so much to anyone who’s said something kind. I can’t believe some of the messages that have come from all over the world. Somebody even came up to me and said ‘you’re the museli man!’"

Have you had any support from any famous faces who have reached out to you? "Lorraine Kelly invited me on her iconic TV show for a chit chat after my audition aired, which was totally surreal and I couldn’t believe she knew who I was when I first met her! I thought, 'That’s Lorraine talking to me…' on her show…what on earth is going on?!"

Stacey Leadbeatter - singer (FINALIST)

Guest judge KSI got to press the golden buzzer for the first time in episode two after being bowled over by supermarket worker Stacey Leadbeatter from Yorkshire. After hearing her beautiful singing voice he said: "The voice that came out of your mouth... I was in awe, I had to press that golden buzzer. You absolutely smashed it, Stacey."

What can you tease about your semifinal performance? What can viewers expect? "All I can say about my semi-final performance is that it’s going to be bigger and better (hopefully) and it’s a song close to my heart."

Where do you hope this opportunity will take you?
"I really hope this opportunity opens some doors in my singing career, so I am able to perform. Whether it be to a small or big crowd, I would be eternally grateful as all I want to do is sing. But the ultimate dream is to be on Broadway or on a big stage with people singing back to me."

Olly Pearson - guitarist (FINALIST)

Olly Pearson might only be 11 years old but after learning to play the guitar with his grandad, the young lad captivated the crowd at Blackpool with his guitar solo that started with AC/DC tune 'Highway to Hell' and went on to a Queen medley. The judges were so impressed by his performance that Amanda pressed her golden buzzer, taking Olly straight through to the live shows.

What has the reaction been like since you auditioned?
"It was hard keeping my Golden Buzzer secret. Within seconds of my audition being on the show, the phone and social media went crazy. I couldn’t believe how much people loved my audition and all my friends were in shock. I’m getting recognised when I’m out and people are asking for photos and autographs! Think even Grandad is getting recognised too! It still doesn’t feel real!"

Have you had any support from any famous faces who have reached out to you? "Taj Farrant (Australia’s Got Talent & touring young guitarist) and John Wines aka Old Grey Guitarist (America’s Got Talent) both commented on my audition video, which was really nice of them. They are both awesome. I really hope one of my heroes such as Angus Young, Slash, Kirk Hammett, Sir Brian May or Wolfgang Van Halen see it too. It would be cool to hear what they think!"

The Blackouts - electric LED show (FINALISTS)

Dance illusion act The Blackouts impressed the judges with their colourful light up dance routine so much they earned a ticket straight to the semi-finals. The dance group didn't give away any secrets as they came on stage in the dark before performing a British-themed routine that left the audience shouting for the golden buzzer. In the end all the judges agreed to push the button together, leaving the group thrilled.

Where do you hope this opportunity will take you?
"Our biggest dream is to share our show with people all over the world and especially here in the UK, where we’ve already felt such a strong connection. We want to perform on the biggest stages, but more than that, we want to bring joy, light, and wonder to audiences everywhere. BGT feels like the start of something huge, and we’re ready to give it everything."

What would it mean to you to be crowned the winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2025?
"It would be the honour of a lifetime. We’ve spent over ten years perfecting this show, mostly behind the scenes, in the dark, literally and figuratively. To be crowned the winners would mean that our story, our work, and our message have truly reached the hearts of the British public. That would be the most beautiful reward we could imagine."

Electric Umbrella (went out in live semi-finals)

Watford and Hemel Hempstead-based choir Electric Umbrella were voted straight through to the semi-finals after wowing the judges and bringing the audience to its feet with a joyful performance of their original song ‘Acceptance'. In fact the judges were so impressed with their performance that Simon broke all the rules of the show by pressing his second golden buzzer of the series!

What has the reaction been like since you auditioned?
"The response has been overwhelmingly positive — far beyond anything we could have imagined! We’ve been flooded with messages of support from people we've known for years, as well as complete strangers from across the country who felt compelled to reach out and say thank you — for offering hope, for showing what’s possible, and for paving the way toward a more inclusive future for their loved ones.

"Our iconic yellow bus has been met with cheers and beeping horns as we’ve travelled to schools. We've been greeted with balloon arches, handmade signs, and heartfelt cards. Our members have been asked for autographs, gifted cakes in coffee shops, and treated like the true stars they are. We’ve always talked about our community of Rock Stars… and now, that’s exactly what they are."

Linda Mudzenda - Singer (went out in live semi-finals)

Linda Mudzenda moved fans to tears as she graced the stage to sing 'You Say' by Lauren Daigle. Despite being nervous, Linda wowed the audience and judges, leading to Alesha pressing the seventh Golden Buzzer of the series.

What has the reaction been like since you auditioned?
"People were shocked as no one expected it. The whole of Zimbabwe and other countries like South Africa, Nigeria and of course the UK have been so supportive. I have been getting messages from people on my social media platforms, especially Instagram and Facebook saying they were all crying when they were watching the audition and that they could feel the emotion in the song. My phone has been constantly ringing, getting calls from different countries, wanting to congratulate me."

Where do you hope this opportunity will take you?
"The ultimate dream is being a solo artist and grow in music. I would really want to record my own music and tour around the world sharing my gift."

Maya Giotea - Singer (went out in live semi-finals)

14-year-old Maya Giotea has barely finished singing before Bruno Tonioli hit his Golden Buzzer for her pitch-perfect rendition of Beyoncé's 'Listen'.

Where do you hope this opportunity will take you?
"I hope people will see me as a potential performer and recognise the passion I bring to the stage. I’m confident that this contest will open many doors for me, allowing me to face new challenges and gain valuable experiences. My deepest wish is for people to connect with the emotions behind my songs and understand the message I’m sharing every time I perform."

What would it mean to you to be crowned the winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2025?
"I would be deeply honoured to receive such a title; it would truly mean the world to me. BGT has already been an incredible experience, and it hasn’t even fully started yet. I consider myself a very ambitious person, and I’m committed to giving my best in every performance throughout this competition. I’m determined to leave everything on the stage and show the world what I’m capable of."

Max Fox - singer (went out in live semi-finals)

Max shocked the judges as he emerged from the audience and begged Simon Cowell to let him audition. He then went on to perform a rendition of Frank Sinatra's 'My Way' in an attempt to impress the panel and ending up winning a fast pass Golden Buzzer to the live finals!

In a BGT first, an audience member became a Golden Buzzer contestant. Describe in your own words how that happened?
"It was completely unexpected. I’d gone to support a friend who was dancing, and I was just in the audience, not even dressed for stage! One minute I was watching, and 20 minutes later I was on the stage performing. I didn’t have time to think! I just got up and gave it everything. To walk away with the Golden Buzzer? I still can’t quite believe it. It was like something out of a film."

Britain's Got Talent 2025 judges

The judging panel is the same as Britain's Got Talent 2024, with Bruno Tonioli, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell returning to cast their judgment over the performers.

There is also a guest judge this year, as renowned music artist, YouTuber and boxer, KSI fills in for Bruno on three audition days.

KSI said: “I’m so excited to be a guest judge for Britain’s Got Talent. When I got the call I couldn’t believe it. I remember watching old BGT episodes and going from being amazed to laughing my arse off. I’m buzzing to see all the fresh new talent, and I’ll be sure to leave a mark!”

Sydnie Christmas has won ITV's Britain's Got Talent, announced on tonight's (Sunday 2nd June) grande finale for her performance of Over The Rainbow.

The 'sensational' singer scooped a cash prize of £250,000, as well as the chance to perform at Britain's Royal Variety Performance.

After the win, Sydnie said emotionally, "I am overwhelmed with love and it's the most amazing thing, and I wish every person in this room feels the way I do with this love. It's amazing. Thank you so much."

Viewers were quick to congratulate the singer online, despite some previously raising concerns about her background as a trained singer. 

'Everyone said Syndie [Sydnie] Christmas is a professional singer who doesn't deserve to win. 

'Suppose the production knows that and puts her in #BritainsGotTalent, then it's not her fault. Based on her performance, she deserves to win. Well done you,' wrote one fan on X (formerly Twitter). 

But another fan queried previously, 'Syndie [Sydnie] Christmas is a ringer she has sang in west end musical it's farcical Simon. Time to change the format.'

However, most commenters were extremely positive about Sydnie's performance, with another writing, 'Syndie [Sydnie] Christmas, that is sensational.'

Bruno Tonioli has certainly lived up to his reputation for being TV's most unpredictable judge since joining Britain’s Got Talent in 2023. Quickly making his mark by hitting the show’s coveted Golden Buzzer midway through an audition last time, he went one better in Britain's Got Talent 2024 by striking the Golden Buzzer so hard, that he broke it! 

Now a much-loved member of BGT's judging family alongside Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon, passionate Italian Bruno is in his element as the live stages of the entertainment juggernaut gather pace on ITV1, with acts competing for a place in Sunday’s live grand final for the chance of winning £250,000 and a spot at the Royal Variety Performance.

In an exclusive interview with What To Watch, the former Strictly Come Dancing judge, 68, considers his highlights of the series and muses what to expect from the final where, fittingly for Bruno, anything can happen, and probably will… 

After being BGT’s new boy last year, did you approach the judging differently this time?

"You can’t plan how you’ll do things on BGT because it depends what sort of act turns up! With any first series, there's more pressure, because if anything goes wrong, you've got to carry the bucket, ha, ha! Fortunately, it went well and I enjoyed it. In this series, myself, Simon, Alesha and Amanda really went for it as a team and had a fantastic time. In my opinion, the competition has been even better this year because we had so much talent - the Golden Buzzers were flying for good reason."

There were NINE Golden Buzzers in total this series!

"The producers told me that’s never happened before. We just kept breaking records!"

And breaking Golden Buzzers, by all accounts…

"Yes! I absolutely smashed it for The Phoenix Boys - that’s also never happened before but I couldn’t control my powers. As a team of dancers, they really touched me. They were wonderful."

What do you enjoy most about BGT's week of live shows - and the grand final?

"For their first audition, you’re wondering if these acts are gonna crack under pressure. When they come back, it’s more about them making the right choices and we don't know what they’re gonna do, so there’s that added sense of anticipation. Will they rise to the occasion? Will they freeze? So, I love the live shows… aside from the fact that us judges have to be more careful about what we say!"

The BGT grand final is on Sunday. Thinking back to last year, is there a real sense of occasion on BGT's big night?

"Well, yes, everything is building up to that moment for these acts. Now it’s make or break. We never know who’s gonna get to the final - let alone win - because it’s all in the hands of the public."

Last year’s final three were young magician Cillian O'Connor, contemporary dancer Lillianna Clifton, and Norwegian comedy act Viggo Venn, who went on to win. Is it important for the BGT final to include a variety of acts?

"Ha, ha, oh my goodness, those jackets! At the time, I couldn't call it but I could sense who the winner might be from the reaction of the audience in the theatre, especially from older children. I looked around and I could see them all tapping away on their phones to cast their votes and I turned to Simon, Alesha and Amanda and said: ‘I’ve got the feeling Viggo’s got it in the bag’. People often complain about the winner - but if you don't phone, don't moan!"

What kind of act do you think might win BGT this year? 

"I know who I’d like to win… but I can’t say because I have to remain impartial. It's whoever resonates with the audience; there's some incredible singers that could win. Just like last year, I can't call it."

How does BGT compare to judging Strictly or its US version Dancing with the Stars? And will you be back on BGT next year?

"On a show like Strictly, we already know what, say, a quickstep requires, in terms of footwork, posture and technique; the dancers are either going to deliver or they’re not. On BGT, because we have no idea what’s coming, we have to dig into our experience across all of showbiz - performance, presentation, delivery, comic timing, singing technique and all dances - and connect that to our own experience. BGT is a completely different show. I'd be delighted to come back next year - but they have to ask me first!"

Britain's Got Talent: The Grand Final airs on Sunday, June 2, at 7.30pm on ITV1.

Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has said she was worried she might be in hot water after her daughter Hollie pushed the golden buzzer for an act on stage. 

In the latest episode of Britain's Got Talent (which aired Sunday 26th May) Amanda's 12-year-old daughter was joined by fellow judge Simon Cowell's son on stage as the pair unexpectedly pushed the golden buzzer. 

Sharing a clip of the incident on her Instagram page, Amanda wrote, 'I mean … I thought I was going to get fired as it was so unexpected my #HRH & Eric x even @simoncowell was wobbled but they have the first ever audience GOLDEN BUZZER.'

The youngsters sent Japanese double Dutch dancers Haribow through to the semi-finals in an unusual act of audience participation. 

While Amanda might have been mortified, the audience found the incident very amusing, with one replying to Amanda's post, 'Simon told them to do it however I’m so glad he did. They are amazing my daughter was so excited when they came on. So deserved. We hope they win.'

While another said, 'I LOVED THIS.'

But not everyone was a fan, with another follower writing, 'This is why I can’t watch - completely staged & scripted. It’s ruined what was a good show.'

While another said, 'Everything about this series seems very staged and pointless.'

The act in question, Haribow, had already received a standing ovation from the crowd, but the judges had already used their golden buzzer allocation.

So it was a welcome surprise for many when Hollie and Eric stepped in.

'Got to admit, it was adorable seeing Hollie and Eric press it together. They're like brother and sister,' wrote on fan on X (formerly Twitter).

While another said, 'My view is if Eric and Hollie are allowed to press the Golden Buzzer and have it count Stephen’s Golden Buzzer for David Watson should have counted too…'

Sydnie Christmas certainly has cause for celebration. Clinching Amanda Holden’s first Golden Buzzer of Britain’s Got Talent 2024 for her powerhouse rendition of Tomorrow from the musical Annie, singer Sydnie sailed through to the talent show’s live semi-finals.

"I feel so overwhelmed," she tells What To Watch, as she joins us for an exclusive chat. "It doesn't seem real because it all happened so quickly. I’m still expecting someone to wake me up! I feel very lucky."

Following the last auditions show this weekend, on Monday, May 27, the stage will be set for five nights of live shows, where the top 40 acts - including Sydnie, one of a record NINE golden buzzers - will perform for a place in the grand final next weekend.

Already unforgettable thanks to her festive-sounding name (‘At school, I used to joke my dad was Father Christmas’), bubbly personality - and ’ave it’ catchphrase - aspiring West End star Sydnie’s first audition has had five million hits on YouTube and she’s hot favorite to follow last year’s Norwegian comedian Vigo Venn and join the Britain’s Got Talent winners list.

Here’s why Sydnie, 28, from Kent, hopes that BGT will be the gift that keeps on giving…

What made you audition for Britain’s Got Talent?

"I've been trying to get into the entertainment industry for a very long time. I’m at an age now where I’m looking around and seeing lots of people I know, that are a lot younger than me, getting leads in the West End, and I think: ‘Am I good enough? So, I went on BGT just trying my luck really. I couldn’t believe I got a yes. I never get a yes!"

You got a bit more than a yes! You got Amanda’s Golden Buzzer…

"I did NOT expect that. I just wanted to do a good job, so that I could walk off stage and feel like I’d done alright. So to get that result I thought: ‘This stuff doesn’t happen to Sydnie!'"

It was your bubbly personality that first caught the judges attention - is that your way of channelling any nerves ahead of a big performance?

"100%. In the performing arts industry, you have to hold yourself in a professional manner, so I was going into these auditions being more reserved, quiet, basically being someone else, which was making me even more nervous. BGT was the most nervous I've ever been for an audition because I wasn’t preparing for a role, I was just being me, Sydnie Christmas. I've never felt nerves like it, so I decided to channel that by saying: ‘Come on, let’s ’ave it!’"

Can you describe the moment you received Amanda’s Golden Buzzer?

"I didn't even see it happen. One minute, the judges were critiquing my performance and I was trying to focus on what they were saying. The next minute, there’s this loud noise and I realised what had happened. It was very validating; that they really liked what I’d done. So it was a shock… but a happy shock."

Did you keep any of the gold confetti? 

"Most of my friends didn't know I was going on BGT; I kept it secret because, to me, it was just another audition. Afterwards, I sent them all a photo of this pile of gold confetti and they were like, 'What on earth is that?' They only realised once they’d watched my audition."

Tell us more about your performance background…

"I’ve been doing theatre shows abroad for a long time; I was in Starlight Express in Bochum, Germany. But I’ve always been just in the background, never a leading lady. What’s the saying: ‘Always the bridesmaid, never the bride’? I’ve never been let in the West End!"

Now, you're finally getting your own ‘big day’, appearing at the BGT live semi-finals. Can you tease anything about your performance?

"When I got home after my Golden Buzzer audition, a song came into my mind straight away and I’ve dreamed about it since. I can see exactly what I'm wearing in my performance and I'm constantly practising ways to put my little ‘Syd’s kiss’ on it. All I’ll say is that my influences are very old fashioned - growing up, I loved Doris Day, Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra and Elvis. I’m an old soul and that's where my love for performing began."

You’ve already impressed the judges but are you nervous about the public vote?

"Yeah, that's terrifying. I’ve had so many ‘nos’ in my life, that it doesn't seem real that people might now say ‘yes’. I really hope I can do a good job and make ‘Little Syd’ - me as a youngster - proud. With what’s happened on BGT, I’d tell her to ‘Hang in there, girl!’"

What would it mean to you to win Britain's Got Talent - and £250,000?

"It seems impossible but it would be the biggest ‘yes’ and the biggest validation of: ‘Syd, you’re supposed to be doing this.’ I'm usually very present, I don't tend to think beyond the day after tomorrow. As the song says: 'It IS only a day away'... if you'll excuse the pun! Money aside, all I want is for a door to open. My dream doesn’t ‘cost’ anything. All it costs is for people to like what they hear when I sing. That would be me winning."

What’s the ultimate dream?

"All I've ever wanted to do is sing live. I love lyrics and telling a story. I'm very in touch with my feelings, so singing and performing is the best way for me to explore that. The dream is to be seen in the West End and become a household name doing what I love to do. A Christmas album, maybe? Ha, ha… wouldn’t that be ironic!"

Britain's Got Talent: The Live Semi-Finals start on Monday, May 27 at 8pm on ITV1.

After a dramatic turn of events, Britain's Got Talent fans are dubious about whether one of the latest acts is genuine. 

In the latest instalment of Britain's Got Talent, which aired on Saturday 4th May, an acrobatic trio named Serbat Troupe performed a thrilling routine without any safety gear. 

In the final act, the act messed up their routine with a fall, but then brought it back with an incredible recovery, leading to huge applause from fans. 

But viewers were left confused as to whether the incident was genuine. 

'I still think it was staged at first, but it’s still bloody impressive,' wrote one for on X (formerly Twitter). 

While another agreed, 'I thought the same.'

Meanwhile another fan wrote, "the fall being staged is killing me."

While another said, '#bgt fall looked deliberate to me. call me cynical.'

The act said before they began the performance, "It’s one of the biggest stages in the world,’ they said when asked why they had entered the competition.

"We want to win Britain’s Got Talent because this is a dream."

But some fans are now put off by the events, with one writing, '*fall mid act to create suspense then successfully do it for a bigger applause*'

But others had a positive reaction to the act, writing, 'Watching @BGT how amazing was Taryn and the Serbat troupe, mind blown.'

And another said, 'I can’t even balance a glass of water, never mind balancing someone on my head, climbing a pair of ladders, turning around and going down the other side!'

To which the official ITV account replied, 'We're with you on that one, Aaron!'

Simon Cowell also had a glowing review for the act. He told them after the performance, "Honestly, to do this without a net and to see how easily this could go wrong and how skilful it was, it was a great audition."

Britian's Got Talent usually airs on a Saturday night, but will air on a Sunday next week.

Christmas literally came early for one act on Britain's Got Talent on Saturday night - as an aspiring West End star received Amanda Holden's Golden Buzzer. 

As the popular talent show returned to ITV1 for its 17th series, singer Sydnie Christmas - yes, that is her real name - was among those to take to the stage at The London Palladium to audition for the show's judges Amanda, Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli and Simon Cowell.

Having already won them over with her charming, likeable and funny personality, Sydnie, 28, from London, then had them in awe with her powerhouse yet heartfelt rendition of Tomorrow from the musical Annie.

Not only did the singer receive a standing ovation from the crowd - but Amanda loved Sydnie's performance so much, she hit the Golden Buzzer, sending Sydnie straight through to the live semi-finals of the competition, later in the series.

Recalling the moment Amanda struck gold, Sydnie said:

"It doesn't seem like it happened because it happened so quick," she exclusively told What To Watch. "One minute, the judges are talking to me, and I was just trying to concentrate on what they were saying, then the next minute, this big, loud noise went off and I realised what had happened. I was in total shock - but happy shock.

"I've been trying to get into the industry for a very long time. I wanted to do BGT just to give it a go and do a good job, so I could walk off stage knowing I'd done all right. I couldn't believe I got a yes - I never get a yes! - and I certainly didn't expect to get the Golden Buzzer. Stuff like that doesn't happen to Syd! It was very validating.'

Having to keep her triumph a secret until the show aired on ITV1, Sydnie admitted using BGT's trademark gold confetti to cheekily hint to her friends about her achievement...

"I sent my close friends a picture of this pile of confetti in the middle of the room," she said. "And they'd be like, 'What on earth is that?' Most of my friends didn't know I was going on BGT; I kept it secret because, to me, it was another audition. I'm still overwhelmed and I just feel very lucky."

Sydnie is keeping her plans for the BGT live shows under wraps - and hasn't dared to think about winning.

'I'm someone that's very present,' she said. 'I don't tend to think beyond the day after tomorrow. As the song says: 'It IS only a day away'... if you'll excuse the pun! I just take every day for what it is and want to do a good job.'

The Grand Final will be anchored as always by Ant & Dec, with the regular judging panel of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and former Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli also on hand. 

Ten acts have made it through to the final, while one wildcard act, to be revealed during the show, has been selected by the judges for another shot at glory. The confirmed acts are: magician Trixy, dance choir Northants Sings Out, musical impressionist Mike Woodhams, singer Syndie Christmas, taekwondo group Ssaulabi Performance Troupe, dancing duo Abigail and Afronitaa, a second magician, Jack Rhodes, Double Dutch skipping group Haribow and comedian Alex Mitchell. All will be hoping to be crowned the winner by the public and receive not only a tidy £250,000 cash but also a spot on the bill at the Royal Variety Performance. Previous winners have included singers, dancers, magicians and even dogs, so the field is wide open. 

We'd also expect some surprise performances from previous contestants and perhaps even some special guests!

Get ready for the wild, wacky, weird and wonderful as Britain’s Got Talent 2024 is here!

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are waiting in the wings at The London Palladium, as the auditions kick-off for the ITV entertainment juggernaut’s 17th series with hopefuls coming from all corners of the UK - and the world! - to show off the talents they believe are fit for royalty.

Watching their every move are the show’s resident judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli who, after hitting the golden buzzer for dance act Ghetto Kids during their performance last series, is causing even more chaos this time round!

In a break during filming, judge Alesha, 45, tells What To Watch about what's in store…

This is the 17th series of BGT. What do you think keeps people tuning in?

"I've always enjoyed the show’s human touch, hearing people's stories and why they’ve signed up for the show. We need those connections with people now more than ever; we’re living in stressful times and people are just looking for joy, hope and escapism. Those moments remind you how beautiful humanity is - and we've got them in abundance this year."

How does this year’s BGT compare to previous series?

"It’s always the people who audition who make it different. Those extraordinary people we see year on year that surprise us, delight us and show us things we've never seen before… or thought we'd ever see! There’s always someone doing something they shouldn’t with a body part or just causing absolute carnage. During one very messy slapstick comedy routine, I ran off and refused to come back. You have to expect the unexpected."

Speaking of 'expecting the unexpected' what's it been like sitting beside Bruno this series?

"It is dangerous sitting next to Bruno, ha, ha! When the energy needs lifting in the room, Bruno’s your man; he’s like an excitable puppy, he can't sit still. The downside is, I'm often on the receiving end of his craziness. I experienced it when I worked next to him on Strictly but he seems even more energetic on Britain's Got Talent. I think Bruno feeds off the vibe in the room. He just loves it, he's in his element."

There are nine golden buzzers through to the live semi-finals this year. What can you tell us about your golden buzzer act?

"Personally, I only pressed the golden buzzer once. It was for a very moving moment, which you’ll see. We always go into the auditions with the intention of pressing it once, then, if an act is outstanding, and the audience is putting pressure on, there might be more. Simon doesn't like rules, he thinks they’re there to be broken."

A choir we saw really resonated with you because they belong to a youth club, like you did growing up. Does that influence your decision on whether to put an act through?

"Of course! I know exactly how it feels to stand on a stage and how getting the right break at the right moment can be life-changing. But I don't need to have experienced something to have empathy. BGT is an emotional roller coaster; one minute you're laughing then you're crying, then it’s a sombre moment, then a crazy moment. You go through so many different emotions throughout the audition process but that's what makes it beautiful."

We also saw a young magician, just nine years’ old yet so confident…

"I'm always in admiration of the kids on this show and this young magician is incredible. How they held their own and their showmanship at such a young age. I've got a 10-year-old daughter myself [Azura, sister to Anaya, four] and I can't imagine her being on a stage as big as BGT. I remember performing in my school assembly, when I was a kid, how terrified I’d be. And that’s just in assembly, not being watched by millions!"

Will we see any of the judges’ children on this series of BGT?

"Not auditioning but maybe judging. There’s a lovely moment where our kids join us on the panel to critique an act. We've always said when we retire they can take over from us!"

Do you have a prediction on the kind of act who might win BGT 2024?

"It could be a singer - we haven't had a singer win for a long time and we do have some very strong singers this time. Not a huge amount of dancers but the dance acts that did go through are outstanding. I do wish we had more stand-up comedians - it's one of the hardest acts to do but, when they're good, they go down a storm."

Finally, we loved you rap as host of last year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool. Might you perform on BGT?

"I'm constantly being asked to freestyle and rap and, when it's spontaneous, it's always more fun. I’m excited about putting new music out this year, going back to my roots and doing what I love. And, who knows, maybe we'll see that at some point on BGT."

Britain's Got Talent almost ended before it had begun - that's according to the show's head honcho Simon Cowell. 

The entertainment juggernaut returns to ITV1 for its 17th series on Saturday night as Britian's Got Talent 2024 brings us more weird and wonderful acts from across the UK - and beyond - as they audition with a talent they think will be fit for royalty. 

However, now Simon has revealed that BGT was actually cancelled after its pilot episode in 2005 only to be resurrected two years later to become the success story it is today.

"We did the pilot here, and it was rubbish,' he candidly told us, alongside fellow judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli, at the show's official press launch on Tuesday, April 16. 

"Then, luckily, we sold it to America, and it was a hit, so ITV bought it. But three days before we were due to film, they cancelled it. So we went up to the auditions in Birmingham thinking: 'We've got 24 hours, if it doesn't work in the first day, we're toast!' And, thank God, that first day went well."

Simon never once imagined BGT - hosted by national treasures Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly - would turn into the ratings winner it has, running for a whopping 17 series and giving us Britain's Got Talent winners like dance troupe Diversity, singers Susan Boyle and Paul Potts and lots more.

"I always thought if we could get three or four years out of this, it will be amazing,' he added, "and then you reach 10 years and you go 'that's a milestone'."

And he has a fair idea of what has contributed to the show's longevity.

'I think it's because so many people now come from all over the world to compete and it's not just about winning the show, it's about having that viral moment, which you know can literally change your life overnight. These clips often get hundreds of millions of views. That's why people are going to come back year after year."

"What I'm seeing, thank God, is the acts are getting better," said Simon. "I think BGT is going to be here for a long, long time."

Britain's Got Talent 2024 sees hopefuls from up and down the country taking to the stage in the hopes that they'll impress the judges and win a spot at the Royal Variety Performance. 

Not only that but there's a £250,000 prize at stake too. This life-changing sum of money will be awarded to whichever act impresses the judges and viewers at home and joins the coveted Britain's Got Talent winners list. 

This will be the 17th season for the beloved talent show, which has seen some huge winners such as comedian Lee Ridley, dance troupe Diversity, and dog trick act Ashleigh and Pudsey.

The judging panel has stayed the same as Britain's Got Talent 2023, with Bruno Tonioli, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell returning to cast their judgement over the new performers. 

Britain's Got Talent Golden Buzzers

The first episode also saw our first Golden Buzzers, with Alesha choosing to send through 8-year-old Ravi, who delivered a showstopping performance of A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman as part of his group, Ravi's Dream Team.

Elsewhere, Sydnie Christmas got Amanda's Golden Buzzer for her rendition of Tomorrow from the musical Annie. So both of these acts have been fast tracked to the live shows.

In an exclusive interview with What to Watch, Sydnie revealed: "It doesn't seem like it happened because it happened so quick. One minute, the judges are talking to me, and I was just trying to concentrate on what they were saying, then the next minute, this big, loud noise went off and I realised what had happened. I was in total shock - but happy shock.

On April 27, Simon also used his Golden Buzzer for the Japanese dance group Cyberagent Legit who have all been dancing together since they were four years old. Speaking about hitting the buzzer, he said: "Amazing! That was fantastic, that was my favourite act of the day actually. Really, really, really good."

Britain's Got Talent 2024 hosts

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly will resume hosting duties on Britain's Got Talent 2024, having presented the series since the very beginning.

The duo recently announced that they were taking a break from Saturday Night Takeaway after this year's season, to focus on other projects and spend more time with their families.

Ant told us: "We just thought it was the perfect time with series 20. It seemed a natural point to take a pause. We have rested Takeaway in the past and reaching series 20 felt like it was a good time to take a break and look at how we want the show to look in the future. 

"You can’t reimagine it in a different way when you’re in it. So we wanted to come away for a bit and see how we felt. First and foremost we just needed a bit of a break from it."

It is expected they will be focusing on Britain's Got Talent and the next season of I'm a Celebrity.

Britain's Got Talent auditions

Auditions took place in February, with Salford Now reporting about people queuing for them on February 6. 

They revealed they spoke to someone called Charlotte Booth, who said: “My daughter is performing today as part of a group. They are cheerleaders from Coventry Dynamite, while the 13-18 age group is called Lady Grenades.

"They are a group of 24 young ladies, they are all under 18 and the you group is 13. They are going to Florida in April to complete in the Cheering Worlds."

We don't have information about any of the other acts at present, but we'll be meeting plenty of them when the series kicks off on ITV!

Take That lit up London during their headline performance at the British Summer Time (BST) event in Hyde Park on Saturday, July 1, with a spectacular concert full of surprises.

Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald came together for their only UK live date of 2023 in London's Hyde Park - marking their first concert in four years and some 30 years since the group enjoyed their first Top 10 hit, It Only Takes A Minute.

Kicking off the show with The Flood, taken from their 2010 album Progress, the trio kept the 70,000-strong crowd entertained with a mix of high-energy numbers and heartfelt ballads, all brought to life with an army of dancers, pyrotechnics, multi-coloured confetti and a host of special guests.

Britain's Got Talent star Calum Scott joined Gary, Mark and Howard for a performance of 2008 hit Greatest Days, re-worked for the band's musical film of the same name, out now in cinemas, and coming to Prime Video on August 25.

Officially the nicest guys in pop, Take That then gave Calum his own time to shine in the spotlight, with Mark saying: "We thought we couldn't be here tonight in the middle of Hyde Park without asking Calum to sing for us, the song that introduced him and his beautiful voice to the world,' with Calum clearly overwhelmed as he sang his hit Dancing On My Own.

However, Calum was not the only special guest and fans were shocked during the performance of Relight My Fire when Gary brought out Scottish singing legend Lulu to reprise her original powerhouse vocal on the 1993 disco hit.

It wouldn't be a Take That show without the boys enjoying some chatter with their fans, with the trio reading out a number of humorous banners on display such as "This song is older than us" and "I left my husband in hospital to be here".

But there was one message that really caught Take That's attention, as Howard read out: "Today is my greatest day, I made it through cancer", with the band dedicating 2008 song The Garden to cancer survivor Laura.

As the hits kept coming - and the crowd kept singing - it was clear Gary, Mark and Howard did not take their 30-year success for granted.

"This is our first proper show since I think 2019, how amazing that we can do this because a few years ago we couldn’t do things like this so we really appreciate that you’re all coming out again seeing shows," said Mark.

Before performing 2006 hit Patience, former X Factor judge Gary enjoyed a moment of nostalgia: "In the middle of this 30 years, we didn’t perform together, we weren’t a band at all. So when we did eventually come back, we were amazed to see this amazing audience waiting to see us again.

"And oh my goodness did we need a song at that point, it’s so funny because after all the years of being together, we finally learnt to work as a team. We went in the studio and wrote this next song we are about to sing, it’s the song that brought us back."

Following a rousing rendition of Never Forget - the song that has become Take That's anthem - the concert closed on Rule The World, with the band literally 'lighting up the sky' with a fantastic firework finale bringing an end to what was simply the greatest day.

That rainfall of confetti when one of the judges uses their Golden Buzzer is always the most exciting part of the America's Got Talent auditions, but just how many Golden Buzzers are allowed on AGT overall?

We've already seen three acts receive the coveted golden buzzer during America's Got Talent season 18's first three episodes, with Georgia-based youth percussionists, the Atlanta Drum Academy, getting the ultimate kudos from AGT host Terry Crews, who hit his buzzer following the group's colorful, spirited drumline performance. 

That sent the drummers straight to the live shows alongside fellow Golden Buzzer acts Mzansi Youth Choir, who received the first-ever Audience Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell in the season premiere, and Indonesian singer-pianist Putri Ariana, another Golden Buzzer pick from Simon in episode 2. 

Though Simon and the rest of the judges' panel — Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara — praised the Atlanta Drum Academy ("What's not to like? They're so much fun, they're so talented, this is one of my favorite auditions this year," Cowell said), Terry stopped the foursome from voting. 

"No, no, no, there is no need to vote," the host yelled, hopping off the stage to join the judges. "You told me backstage that you dream of being on AGT and getting a golden buzzer," Crews directed at the academy's adorable frontman, 8-year-old Chioma Narcisse-Williams. "Now Chioma and the Atlanta Drum Academy, I am honored to make that dream come true," he added, before smashing the buzzer and letting that celebratory confetti rain down. "It is amazing!" Chioma cheered. 

But now that we already have a trio of Golden Buzzers this season, viewers might be wondering just how many acts will be straight-shot through to the live shows. 

While acts must earn at least three "Yes" votes from the judges to advance from the auditions to the live shows, which will kick off on August 22, any of the four judges, as well as host Terry Crews, can each hit the Golden Buzzer once to personally send an act through to the next round. 

Along with those five Golden Buzzer opportunities, there is also a group Golden Buzzer this year, as well as a fan-led Golden Buzzer pick. So during the pre-taped audition process, seven acts can be fast-tracked to round two in season 18.

America's Got Talent viewers had plenty to say about that Atlanta Drum Academy Golden Buzzer moment, with some cheering on the youngsters and other underwhelmed by their performance. Here's what fans are saying:

The results are in for the Britain's Got Talent final, with wildcard Viggo Venn scooping the top prize. 

But not all Britain's Got Talent viewers are happy with the result, with many saying that the Norwegian comedy act shouldn't have been crowned the winner.

Viewers of the ITV show have taken to Twitter in their droves to express their annoyance over the result, with some threatening to boycott the show. 

'Non talent non British winner stupid voting public - dreadful result,' wrote one fan.

While another said, 'He's not BRITISH and running around a stage taking off hi-vis vests is not a TALENT embarrassed for Simon, itv, BGT. 

'Apologies to the thousands of acts who took the time and effort put themselves and their true TALENT in front of the judges. I doubt I'll watch it #BGT again.'

While another said, 'Thats not talent, thats just prancing around the stage!! Anyone can do that crap!! What happened to Britains got talent, he’s norwegian! The young girl far, far, far more talented!! ITV are a joke!!'

'I find it absolutely disgusting that some idiotic act won compared to someone like #musamotha What a brain-dead nation we live in,' wrote another fan. 

'Someone like musa ACTUALLY deserved to win. He made a massive difference to people and gave people hope and happiness.' 

So a Norwegian wins " BRITAINS got talent..another programme that needs binning.'

'I mean what a mockery @BGT is some amazing talents gone to waste! Amy Lou in my eyes or little Olivia should of won! What an absolute joke!' wrote another angry fan. 

'Musa Motha lost his leg to bone cancer when he was 11. He goes on to become an amazing, talented dancer. And yet, the British public vote for Vigo Venn. What a f-ing joke,' another fan quipped. 

Viggo said after winning, 'Not just the heart of Britain but the heart of Simon. 

'Thank you very much for everyone who voted for me.'

The crowd chanted 'one more time' repeatedly as Viggo appeared on stage. 

The Britain's Got Talent final is well underway and there's one unlikely act that's captured the heart of the nation - the very eccentric Viggo Venn.

Comedian and clown Viggo burst onto the stage with high energy - and a high-vis vest - dancing along to popular pop tunes and winning over audiences. 

The judges weren't originally impressed, with Simon Cowell calling him, 'the most stupid act we have had this year' While Aleesha Dixon said, 'I thought you were gonna do stand-up comedy'.

But he's now been hotly tipped to do well in the show - with some predicting he might even win the whole thing.

'VIGGO. You are the icon of the Hi Vis Jacket. Every time you appear on stage you send the audience crazy and you’ve done it again. You even made Simon wear the vest!!!!! You entertain me and make me laugh every time I see you. YOU ARE A BORN ENTERTAINER!!!!' wrote one fan on Twitter.

While another said, 'The only person that deserves to win this year, everybody go and vote for viggo!!.'

While another wrote, 'I'm sorry but Viggo is THE BEST act... I really wanna see him win this series and I really want him to go on tour because I'll happily watch his tour.'

And another wrote, 'Does Viggo deserve to win? No he does not. Would I be happy if he did? You better believe I would. Genuinely think he's hilarious!'

And another impressed fan wrote alongside a meme depicting singer Morrissey wearing high vis, 'Got to be Viggo to win surely ? Morrissey agrees.....'

Will Viggo win the Britain's Got Talent final? We'll soon find out! 

Britain's Got Talent 2023 returned to our screens last night after a one-week break for the Eurovision Song Contest.

The fans were thrilled to see it back, with its usual blend of impressive talent, hilarity from the judges, and a few controversial decisions, too.

And there were some quirky acts in last night's show.

Daredevil Antony Torralvo had everyone - including Ant and Dec - holding their breath when he stacked chairs on top of glass bottles.

While Tom Crosbie came on stage and told the judges he was going to use 100 Rubik's Cubes for his act, getting a NO from Amanda before he'd even started, and another one from Bruno just a few seconds in.

And when Alesha gave him his third thumbs down, it looked like it was game over - until he revealed he'd made a portrait of Bruno from the cubes!

Simon attracted criticism for giving a second golden buzzer to dance group Unity, with some fans saying there was no point in having the golden buzzers if the judges could have as many as they wanted.

But Simon - obviously - shrugged off the criticism and said rules were made to be broken!

One act - eleven-year-old Harry Churchill - wowed the crowd and the judges with his amazing guitar playing.

The youngster was nervous when he took to the stage, but soon warmed up and he treated everyone to an amazing medley of Queen songs!

Despite his tender years, Harry was like a proper rock star as he played his guitar like a pro - even playing behind his back at one point!

And the fans loved it!

Impressed by Harry's talent at such a young age, one fan said he was "like a little rockstar".

And Harry's playing attracted praise from one VERY famous celebrity viewer.

Legendary Queen guitarist Brian May saw his act and took to social media to praise the little lad.

"Harry rocks!" wrote Brian, before adding his congratulations to the youngster for "smashing it tonight on BGT"!

What an amazing achievement for the lad. Who knows, maybe he'll be playing Wembley Stadium before he's in his teens!

Seemingly, Britain's Got Talent 2023 has been pulled from ITV's schedule to avoid a clash with the Grand Final of Eurovision 2023, as plenty of viewers will no doubt be glued to BBC One that evening. 

In its place, ITV has instead scheduled the second Jurassic World movie, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom at 8 pm on ITV1. So, if you planning to watch the Eurovision Song Contest, you won't have to miss out on any of the auditions from the latest series of the ITV talent show.

Fans needn't be too disappointed, though, as the show won't be off-air for long. The next episode of Britain's Got Talent 2023 will instead be on TV on Sunday, May 14 at 7.40 pm. For up-to-date listings and more info about all the latest shows, you can check out our TV Guide.

Britain's Got Talent isn't the only show that's been shifted around to accommodate the competition: Casualty has also been cancelled this Saturday, meaning fans of the medical soap will have to wait a little longer to find out what's going to happen next.

Saturday, May 13 sees the 67th edition of the world's biggest and boldest singing international singing competition taking place live from Liverpool, hosted on behalf of Eurovision 2022 winners, Ukraine's Kalush Orchestra.

Graham Norton, Hannah Waddingham, Alesha Dixon and Julia Sanina are on hosting duties, with singer-songwriter Mae Muller representing the UK with her single "I Wrote a Song."

Britain's Got Talent 2023 got underway in mid-April and has already seen countless acts try to impress our judging panel of Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, new judge, Bruno Tonioli, and our hosts, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

The latest BGT episode saw MB14 earning himself the latest Golden Buzzer from Ant and Dec after his beatboxing performance impressed the Geordie double act, and Mr. Blobby drenched Simon Cowell in grunge on-stage!

Britain's Got Talent 2023 returned to our screens last night. 

And not to be outdone by the Coronation, it featured an unexpected appearance from "TV Royalty" who left judge Simon Cowell FUMING and more than a little dishevelled!

Mr Blobby! 

The 1990s telly icon showed up at the auditions, thrilling Ant and Dec who explained to younger viewers that the pink squishy character was once the King of Saturday night telly.

But Simon was NOT impressed.

"I actually hate Mr Blobby," he whispered to the other judges as the audition began.

Mr Blobby unveiled his sign revealing he was doing Mr Blobby's Magic Show. And the audition began.

First up, he asked judge Amanda Holden to pick a card. She did as she was asked, but when Blobby guessed wrong, he threw a tantrum and chucked his cards away.

Then he turned to a bewildered Bruno Tonioli. Mr Blobby hid his buzzer under his top hat and tried to make it vanish. But it didn't.

Crossly, Blobby buzzed himself, making the judges howl with laughter. Well, three of them laughed. Simon grumbled that it was "just awful".

But his final trick was the best bit!

He asked Simon to come up on stage and sit in Mr Blobby's Disappearing Box. Simon got inside, Blobby shut the door and ta-da! Simon was still there.

He tried again, but Simon didn't disappear.

And then, instead of Simon vanishing, he got gunged by bright pink slime!

He was FURIOUS! And as Mr Blobby went in for a hug, Simon growled: "Don't touch me!"

From that point, the show descended into chaos as Simon trudged back to his seat, leaving a trail of gunge and then chased the other judges round the table, trying to share his slime!

Meanwhile, Mr Blobby was trying to find Ant and Dec, wanting to give them a slimy cuddle too.

The fans loved it!

"Never laughed so much in my life," said one fan. While another said the appearance of the 90s icon made her feel like a kid again!

And one pleased viewer just said: "Good old Blobby."

Britain's Got Talent isn't on next week, as it's the Eurovision Song Contest, but it will return to our screens the following week. Check our TV Guide for more information.

Britain's Got Talent fans were shocked after seeing a behind-the-scenes snap that showed what really happens when the judges push the golden buzzer in the show.

A member of the audience for last night's Britain's Got Talent posted on Twitter when 11-year-old Olivia Lynes got the golden buzzer from judge Amanda Holden on Saturday night’s show.

The video showed three men on stage from the circle level of the theatre, straight after Amanda decided to send her through to the semi-finals.

One of the men held up a machine to spray confetti on the little girl, proving that the confetti doesn't fall down from the ceiling like viewers originally thought. 

They tweeted, 'Golden Buzzer reshoots aren't as cool looking in real life than all the slow-mo stuff you see on the TV... it's just a guy blowing confetti onto the contestant while cameras film in slow motion...'

Fans of the show were quick to notice the tweet and comment with disapproval, with one writing, 'It’s clips like this that the producers of #bgt recreate to make us think that we are all gullible and the fakery is real. 

'Why can’t the show be more raw and real, it would be appreciated a lot more. All the auditions with acts that have “no history” is amongst the worst.'

While another said, 'And the golden confetti doesn't come from the ceiling?? Magic spoiled.'

And a third wrote, 'It’s true. A huge anticlimax.'

But the confetti drama doesn't take away from Olivia's "wonderful" performance, with Amanda Holden saying she was “blown away” by the “wonderful” Olivia after encouraging the schoolgirl to audition for the show.

Britain's Got Talent had everybody talking last night, with some of the most out-there acts of the series so far. 

We saw some big hits on the night - with John's Boys choir and drag act Ruby Sinclaire winning over the judges - but some acts divided viewers.

One of the acts in particular - a singing 'cat' that some viewers called 'bizarre'  provoked strong reactions on social media. 

Some were in awe of the singing 'cat', with one enthusiastic fan writing on Twitter, 'OMG I just watched the singing cat wow amazing whoever it is.' 

While another fan of the feline star wrote, 'The cat wow what an amazing voice wondering how the cat was done, looks like cgi.'

But for others the act fell flat and they were surprised by the outcome, with another writing, 'How did that stupid cat get through.'

While others felt a little more dubious about the act, with one writing, '#BritainsGotTalent is so staged , I cannot wait until the live performances too see if Noodle the cat is hologram or CGI.'

Others saw the funny side, commenting on their own cats, with a BGT viewer writing, 'I have 2 cats. A grey one with a pot belly called Twizzle and a black one called Noodle. I am just wondering what they have been up to when i am out.'

But in a surprise turn of events, other BGT viewers thought they'd predicted the identity of the mysterious CGI cat, with another writing, 'Did anyone think that cat sounded a lot like Adam Lambert?!'

It was an emotionally charged episode of Britain's Got Talent last night, with one act, in particular, getting people talking online. 

Chickenshed, which is a theatre company that prides itself on being fully inclusive, came on stage to perform a singing and dancing routine - which had a strong reaction from the judges. 

Alesha Dixon, visibly holding back tears, addressed the group after the performance and said that she, 'loved every single thing that you stand for'.

She told the group, 'I love every single thing that you stand for and that you represent, inclusivity is so important, everybody feeling represented, and you do that in abundance. 

'You’re giving young people this incredible opportunity and platform and honestly, I don’t know what else is more important than that.'

While Simon Cowell said, 'I've known about Chickenshed for a long time and I've always wondered when is the year you're going to come on Britain's Got Talent and this performance summed up everything you do. 

'This really, really, really, really is a golden buzzer audition, that's what it is for.'

But not all fans were happy with the conclusion, with one writing, 'The most predictable golden buzzer in the history of golden buzzers.'

With one replying to the comment, 'Of course it was just was gonna be alesha too wasn't it.'

While another said, 'Killed the programme for me that.'

But not everyone had a negative reaction to the show, with another fan writing, 'Absolutely deserved as well, just being the on the show brings awareness, the golden buzzer just raises that even more. 

'Beautiful to see the joy on their faces.'

While another fan said outraged, 'Someone please explain to me how ChickenShed gets a golden buzzer but Enzo doesn't?'

Britain's Got Talent 2023 fans are convinced one of the most moving moments of last night's show was "set up".

The fans have taken to social media - and even turned detective - to share their belief that amazing teenage singer Tia Connolly's 'surprise' audition was nothing of the sort! 

Intriguing!

So what happened?

Last night's show started with its usual mix of magicians, illusionists and, erm, odd men wearing tiny pants and pretending to be naked (surprisingly he got a yes from all four judges!).

Ukelele player and school teacher Abi impressed the judges with her witty lyrics and sweet singing.

And Chicken Shed, the inclusive theatre group from North London, wowed everyone on the panel with their singing and even won a golden buzzer from judge Alesha Dixon!

It was one of the later auditions that got the fans really talking.

Towards the end of the show, mum Claire arrived. She told Ant and Dec she was singing and had brought along daughter Tia for support.

But when Claire took to the stage, she announced that while 15-year-old Tia thought it was her mum auditioning, it was actually Tia who was going to sing.

"She's helped me through some very hard times," Claire explained. "I'm giving my audition up today for Tia. It's my way of saying she's fabulous."

Claire told the judges that Tia didn't know how good she is and she wanted to give her a chance to show off her talent.

After a few minutes to get herself together, surprised Tia took to the stage.

"I usually sing in the shower so this is the biggest thing I've done," she told the judges.

And then she absolutely blew them away with her amazing rendition of I Didn't Know My Own Strength by Whitney Houston.

The judges were stunned by Tia's voice.

"Smashed it," said Alesha, while Bruno Tonioli said she was "singing from your soul."

And an impressed Simon Cowell simply said: "That's how you do it."

Tia got a yes from the whole panel, but the fans weren't so impressed.

Many viewers believed Tia knew all along that she was going to be singing because she was so confident and professional.

They thought that the 'surprise' had been set up.

"Totally staged," said one fan.

"Just a set up," agreed another.

And that wasn't all! Within seconds, viewers had tracked Tia down on TikTok where she has thousands of followers and often wows by belting out songs from home.

But there was no denying that Tia's got talent.

"There's a star in the making," said one impressed viewer.

Britain's Got Talent 2023 hit our screens last night with new judge Bruno Tonioli joining the line up.

The show featured its usual mix of hilarious acts, amazing talent, barbed comments from Simon Cowell, and some audience participation, too.

Some of the earliest contestants were a choir called The Big Sing - a community choir led by founders Gemma and Howard.

The choir took to the stage with its singers aged from three to 83.

And then stunned the audience and the judges when dozens of the audience stood up to sing too - and they turned out to be more members of the choir, too!

Among the other favourites in last night's episode were Ghetto Kids, a lively dance troop hailing from an orphanage in Uganda.

They performed an amazing dance that got the audience on their feet - and Bruno loved them so much he pressed the golden buzzer in the middle of the act!

But it was one talented teenager who really got the fans talking - and crying!

Thirteen-year-old magician Cillian O'Connor from Ireland, showed off his skills, wowing the judges and the crowd with his impressive close-up magic and his other tricks.

Cillian began by telling the viewers that magic had changed his life. He said that he has autism and that before he discovered magic he had struggled to interact with people.

He added that he believes autism isn't a disability, but actually an ability.

The fans loved his positive approach.

"So powerful," said one viewer, while another called Cillian "inspiring".

And it wasn't just Cillian's personality that impressed. The teenager proved he is a talented magician, too.

He wowed the crowd with his amazing tricks, and stunned Simon too!

"You are unbelievably talented," Simon said, adding that there was "something incredible" about the young magician.

Amanda Holden called him "phenomenal" and Bruno said he was "totally captivated".

At the end of the act, Cillian was so thrilled by the audience's enthusiastic reaction to his magic that he burst into tears, making Bruno, Alesha and Amanda sob, too!

And they weren't alone.

"Cillian is going places," one fan shared on social media. "He brought tears to my eyes."

Another viewer said she was crying into her wine!

Cillian received a resounding YES from all four judges, so he'll be back in the next round!

Britain's Got Talent is back for another season and apparently, there are a few scary acts to look forward to when the popular competition series returns.

There's a change to the judging panel this year, with Bruno Tonioli joining Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, and Amanda Holden, and it sounds like there are some exciting things on the horizon for all four judges.

In particular, Amanda was asked if she was scared by anything this season due to the fact she often gets visibly freaked out by some of the "terrifying" performances on the Britain's Got Talent 2023 stage.

Turns out, we've got some nerve-wracking ones coming and Amanda admitted some were "horrific", so it'll be interesting to see which ones she's referring to!

Speaking to What to Watch and other media, Amanda Holden said: "Yeah, I mean, yes I am a screamer. And yes, there were some more horrific ones. There have been some scary things before but I have to say, everyone's upped the ante this year.

"I don't know where it's come from. I don't know if they're seeing other acts and trying to better them or if lockdown has made me people more perverse and dark. I don't know. But it's all coming up!"

Amanda also opened up about the use of the Golden Buzzer, which fast-tracks an act to the semi-finals and can only be used once by each judge. The pressure is really on for them to make the right choice, and Amanda described it as a "complete gut thing".

She added: "Sometimes when other judges or other people are going, 'Oh my god, you should press your golden, press it, press it' and you're like, 'No, because I just know it's not right.' It's an absolutely personal thing. It's like when you fall in love. Right? You can't do it if someone's trying to tell you to do it. So it's really personal."

There’s even more excitement in the air than usual as Britain’s Got Talent 2023 auditions kick off at the London Palladium as there’s a new judge in town: step forward Bruno Tonioli. 

The Italian choreographer, and ballroom and Latin dancer was known for his wild antics when he was a judge on BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing. So What To Watch is expecting big things as he enters the theatre to rapturous applause from the audience to take his seat — previously occupied by David Walliams — alongside resident panelists Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and his former Strictly judging buddy, Alesha Dixon for BGT's 16th series. And, as the auditions get underway, Bruno’s renowned enthusiasm is soon causing chaos!

In an exclusive interview, Bruno, 67, tells What To Watch all about judging the weird and wonderful and reveals his own unique hidden talent… 

What appealed to you about joining Britain’s Got Talent?

"I wanted to join BGT because of the fantastic range of talents on display. Singers, dancers, comedians, magicians, acrobats; it's like being part of Ziegfeld Follies, those big variety shows that were very popular in the 1900s that you don't see any more. The talent we’ve had really has been incredible. Some acts are truly inspiring... some are absolutely bonkers!"

What’s it been like reuniting with your former Strictly Come Dancing co-judge Alesha Dixon, and working with Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden?

"I adore Alesha, Simon I’ve known forever and Amanda I met through him. I was very nervous before the auditions because I'd never been on-screen with Simon and Amanda, so didn’t know if the chemistry would be there. But as we took our seats at the London Palladium, I thought: ‘This is brilliant.’ Poor Alesha had clearly forgotten what it’s like sitting next to me!"

Do you leap out of your seat like on Strictly? How did it feel replacing David Walliams?

"Oh, I just do what I do! When I joined BGT, David Walliams was the first person to send me a congratulations message and a lovely bottle of wine. Am I the ‘new’ David? No, I have to be me and do things my own way. I’d never watched BGT because I don’t want to be influenced by what other people do - but it also meant I had no clue about what was going to happen."

Ah yes, we know you caused chaos on the first day of auditions… 

"Alesha gave me a ‘BGT tutorial’ over the phone but, by the time I got to the auditions, I’d forgotten everything she’d told me! I kept asking: ‘What are the rules?’ And she’d say: ‘There are no rules!’ Then, on day one, I caused quite a stir with the golden buzzer. Let’s just say, my reaction is very spontaneous… and very exciting."

What can you tell us about your Golden Buzzer act? 

"This act was so unexpected, so fresh, so good and so real. There was an energy coming from them and a real connection. And it was something I'd never seen before so, in the moment, I had to press the buzzer. I can't give too much away - you'll just have to watch."

Did any of the acts surprise you? Make you emotional? 

"There is one act that had both those things; it was incredibly moving and so powerful that Simon and I agreed afterwards they could possibly win. There are some brilliant singers and some comedians that are genuinely so funny. I told Simon: ‘You’ve got a good show!’"

How does judging BGT compare to Strictly?

"Strictly is a dance competition, so there are specific dance elements you have to deliver; whether it’s the cha cha cha or tango, each dance has to be performed in a certain way. Whereas on BGT you never know what's coming next because the acts are so varied. They’re both brilliant shows but totally different — you can't compare the two."

Do you have any hidden talents?

"I'm a good cook — I love cooking proper Italian food. And I'm a good gardener. I’ll stick something in the ground and it grows — I don't know why but plants just like me!"

After 16 series, has Britain still Got Talent? 

"The talent in Britain is unbelievable and this show celebrates that. Back in the day, there were clubs where people could be given a platform to showcase their act but all those have gone now. People enjoy watching BGT because, for an hour or two, you’re entertained, uplifted, inspired… and sometimes shocked. Our purpose is to give viewers the chance to appreciate all this wonderful talent and give these acts an opportunity to be seen."

Who won Britain's Got Talent 2023?

Norwegian comedian Viggo Venn was crowned the winner of Britain's Got Talent 2023 and had the audience roaring with laughter with his high-vis inspired routine, especially when he made Simon Cowell wear a matching high-vis jacket as rose petals were thrown over them.

The whole audience then stood up in their own high-vis jackets and sang 'One More Time' by Daft Punk.

Dancer Lilliana Clifton, 13, and 14 year old magician Cillian O’Connor placed in second and third. 

After winning the show, Dec asked how Viggo felt to have “captured the heart of the nation”, to which he replied: “Not just the heart of Britain, but the heart of Simon.”

The Britain's Got Talent 2023 live semi-finals began on Monday, May 29 on ITV1 at 8pm.

The semi-finals continued each weeknight from 8pm to 10pm until Friday, June 2. when the results were announced. The first finalist was be chosen by a public vote and the second finalist was picked by the judges.

Who were the Golden Buzzer acts?

There were more Golden Buzzer acts than ever this year, with contestants impressing the judges so much that they received the Golden Buzzer that automatically sent them to the semi-finals.

Let's see the lucky few who received the Golden Buzzer...

Ghetto Kids

Dance act Ghetto Kids received the first Golden Buzzer of the season from Bruno Tonioli. They were also the first to receive the Golden Buzzer halfway through their performance, as the buzzer usually comes at the end of an act.

The troupe, which was created by Daouda Kavuma, is comprised of children aged 5 to 13 from the Katwe slum in Kampala, Uganda.

Malakai Bayoh

13 year old singer Malakai Bayoh got the second Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell after his emotional rendition of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Pie Jesu, which had Bruno and the audience in tears.

Simon said of his performance: "One of the best voices I think I’ve ever heard, this is amazing… It was like being in heaven. Thank you, thank you, thank you for coming on this show."

Chickenshed

The third act to receive the Golden Buzzer was inclusive theatre group Chickenshed with their singing and dancing routine to Wonder by Naughty Boy ft. Emeli Sandé. 

Alesha Dixon cried as she hit the Golden Buzzer and sent them straight to the semi-finals.

Olivia Lynes

Amanda Holden pressed the Golden Buzzer for 13 year old singer Olivia Lynes after she wowed everyone with her performance of Defying Gravity from Wicked. 

MB-14

MB-14's epic beatboxing talent led to hosts Ant and Dec rushing on stage and pressing their Golden Buzzer, propelling the French singer into the live shows.

Gamal John

Bruno Tonioli broke the BGT rules by pressing his Golden Buzzer twice. This time for singer Gamal John, who sang It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World by James Brown. 

Not only did he get a Golden Buzzer, but he also received a standing ovation from both the judges and audience as Bruno wowed everyone by slamming his button for the second time.

Unity

Simon Cowell also went on to change BGT history by giving a second Golden Buzzer to dance group Unity, who performed a routine to Wrabel's The Village.

The group of college friends did an inspirational routine about "being told that you can't or you're not enough," which also received a standing ovation.

Bruno Tonioli

Bruno Tonioli was announced to be the new judge replacing David Walliams, who left the show after 10 years in 2022.

The much-loved dancer will be joining long-time judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon.

Bruno said: “Here we are, Britain’s Got Talent. I am so excited. It’s my first show, I have no idea what’s going to happen, but I’m sure it’s going to be brilliant.”

Talking about his experience so far on the show, he revealed: "Oh, it's incredible! I mean, honestly, I’ve had such a good time! Really, really, really good. Because it is completely new for me, I told Simon, I never watched the show before. But I never watch anything I’m in, I never even watched Strictly or Dancing With the Stars. I want to feel free to give it my own personal spin, not copy what someone before me has done, if that makes sense. 

"And the truth is that the talent really excites me because I love watching new talent. This is like live theatre. It's a proper variety show like we used to get. And I always loved that. Let me tell you, some of the talent we’ve seen during auditions...absolutely incredible. Wow!"

Simon Cowell

Music mogul Simon Cowell has been a judge on the show since he created the competition series in 2007.

The long-time judge shared what he was hoping for this series, saying: "Well, I think you've got two things, you want to make a show which people hopefully will enjoy watching. And secondly, you want to give whoever it is that opportunity, hopefully, for things to get better in their lives after they've auditioned. 

"I think where things have changed a lot from where we first started is it always used to be about the end prize. I would say now that your first audition is so important because of what happens, virally, that even just that single audition can make a massive difference to your life."

Amanda Holden

TV star and singer Amanda Holden has also been a mainstay on Britain's Got Talent since 2007.

She revealed what to expect from the auditions this year, teasing that: "It feels more homegrown. It feels like stuff people would be doing in their bedrooms and less professionals this year, but the standard is still exceptionally high. Last year, we had a lot of people who had struggled professionally because of lockdown. A lot of people that needed to remind themselves and their audience that they could do it. 

"And it was great for us to be able to give them that platform after what had been a very tough time for performers. But this year, I think it's evened out again and it's back to more amateur, homegrown, people queuing up and coming in. So I’ve really enjoyed seeing that!"

Alesha Dixon

Singer Alesha Dixon first joined the show as a judge in 2012 and she spoke about the very reason that keeps her coming back to the show every year.

The TV star shared: "I guess the fact that it's such a joyful show. I think that's the number one reason, we always say we are very fortunate that we get to go on this emotional rollercoaster with the show, but ultimately, the main feeling that you get, and actually something that Simon talked about quite a lot this year, was the fact that it makes people happy and that it's joyful. 

"And we always need a bit of that in our lives. Also people are the heart and soul of the show. The extraordinary, creative, and imaginative people that decide to audition every year, they are the show. They are what stops it becoming boring, by people telling their stories through their acts or getting to know them and their reasoning for coming on the show, all of those moments make it heartfelt, warm and interesting."

Britain's Got Talent 2023 hosts

Britain's much-loved presenting duo Ant and Dec are resuming their hosting duties for the 16th series of the award-winning show. The comedy duo are a firm favorite across the nation, hosting everything from Saturday Night Takeaway and I'm a Celebrity 2022 to Limitless Win. 

Talking about what they were looking forward to the most ahead of the auditions starting, Dec said: "It's what we look forward to every year, you never quite know what you're gonna get. Every year we think you've seen it all but there's always a few surprises along the way, and this year didn't disappoint."

Ant added: "We’re looking forward to seeing what weird, wonderful and completely bizarre acts are going to audition for us this year."

Britain's Got Talent 2023 digital

For the first time ever, Britain's Got Talent is launching on Snapchat, joining the already established TikTok channel. 

The brand new account (@BGTOfficial) will be part of the youth-skewed alternative look at the show, where you will be able to view auditions edited specifically for the platform as well as some of the show's best moments.

The full first look audition is also back for 2023 — every Friday you will be able to watch an exclusive full audition (on the official BGT Facebook, YouTube and ITV website) before it airs at the weekend.

Who won Britain's Got Talent 2022?

Comedian Axel Blake won Britain's Got Talent 2022 and received the golden buzzer from Simon Cowell during his audition.

At the time, judge David Walliams said: "A comedy superstar is born tonight on that stage. So funny. You made it all seem so effortless and you’ve got a wonderful, likable personality and everything you said was brilliantly funny and original".

Since winning the show, he has gone on to do his own comedy tour titled 'Alex Blake: In Style' which he did around the UK and Ireland in 2022. He also went to Australia as part of the tour in winter 2022.

Is there a trailer?

There's currently no trailer out for Britain's Got Talent 2023, but we'll update this guide as soon as one has been announced.

Alan Carr is reportedly replacing David Walliams on ITV competition series Britain's Got Talent, after the latter stepped down from the programme.

It's thought that Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, and Alesha Dixon will continue their judging roles, and will be joined by Alan for the next installment of the long-running competition.

According to The Mirror, a source close to the ITV show said: "Alan is hilarious but also kind. He tells a mean joke but he is also soft in the middle.

"The bosses are already excited about how wonderful he will be with the contestants. He will complement the panel so well too, he is really close friends with Amanda and he has known Simon and Alesha for years too.

They added: "Everyone involved in the show is so excited and they can’t wait to get started."

Although the comedian has not yet publicly commented on this decision, it would see him reuniting with Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda who he joined on the series Amanda Holden and Alan Carr's The Italian Job last year.

The series saw the pair renovating a home in Italy, and with a great dynamic between the pair, ITV viewers could see even more banter from them with Alan on the judging panel.

We definitely know that Little Britain star David Walliams will not be reprising his role as a judge after he issued a statement confirming that he was stepping down following some controversial statements that went public.

He said: "I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for Britain’s Got Talent in 2020. These were private conversations and — like most conversations with friends — were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry."

Not much is known about the upcoming Britain's Got Talent series just yet, but it did get its own spin-off which saw another shake-up to the judging panel. 

Britain's Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician saw celebrated magician Penn Jilette joining the series, alongside David, Alesha and Amanda, with Simon Cowell not participating in this one.

Eric Chien was crowned the winner of the series' first spin-off, and so far there's no word on whether or not Britain's Got Talent will focus on another specialism further down the line.

Working his magic as a host for the special is none other than seasoned trickster and TV favourite, Stephen Mulhern, 45, drafted in after regular hosts Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly contracted COVID-19. And he reckons viewers should prepare to be spellbound…

"It’s got everything - speciality, variety, close-up trickery and big-scale illusions,' says Stephen. "There is a real appetite for magic acts on BGT; in the 2020 series alone, the audience voted six magicians through to the final. All our acts are incredible and they ALL want to be named The Ultimate Magician. It’s going to be a phenomenal show."

Who are the judges?

BGT's resident judges David Walliams, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon are back with Penn Jillette — better known as one half of world-renowned US magic duo Penn & Teller — sitting in for Simon Cowell, as the acts battle it out to be named ultimate magician and win £50,000.

"Penn & Teller have got the longest-running show in the history of Las Vegas; David, Amanda and Alesha were there to get involved with the tricks but Penn brought the authority to the panel because he knows magic inside out," explains Stephen. "The acts would have been nervous anyway but having Penn there added another element of danger for them."

Which BGT acts will be taking part?

A whole host of magnificent magicians from past series of BGT will be returning to the stage for this special show, as Stephen reveals...

"We’ve got Lance Corporal Richard Jones, the only magician to ever win Britain's Got Talent. He did an amazing illusion with Amanda that will take people's breath away,' he says. "Then there's Marc Spellman, who was Ant and Dec's Golden Buzzer in 2018 then appeared in 2019 as 'X'. The Witch also returns and is quite freaky. I can’t believe people once thought it was me!"

The stakes are high as the show also boasts performances from some of the best magic acts from the various Got Talent shows around the world.

"There’s Kevin James from Las Vegas [America’s Got Talent, Season 2, 2007], he's a magician I was a fan of growing up. We also have Austrian husband and wife duo, The Clairvoyants [AGT, S11, 2016], known as 'the magician foolers' because nobody in the magic community really knows their methods," says Stephen. "There's Les French Twins [Finalists, France’s Got Talent: Battle of the Judges, 2020], multimedia magicians, who are young, current and up-to-date, and Eric Chien, winner of Asia’s Got Talent 2019, who’s like a real-life wizard!"

Why focus on just magic?

People just LOVE magic. During the 2020 series alone, six of the 10 acts voted through to the final were magicians. These men and women of mystery have even converted Simon, too!

"When you look back at early series of BGT, Simon wasn't a fan of magic but he realised he needed to get on the bandwagon," says Stephen. "It’s the intrigue and the fascination. Also, magic is a universal thing; you can take it to any country and perform anywhere. If I stopped presenting, I’d focus on what I originally did, which was magic. I recently had my own magic show in Butlin’s Skegness — or as I like to call it, SkegVegas!"

Britain’s Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician: Can we expect more specials?

"I've made no secret of the fact I've always wanted to have a magic show on TV and I think there's space for it. I reckon Britain's Got Talent: The Ultimate Singer or The Ultimate Dancer would make great specials. Tell you what, I'll host the specials and Ant and Dec can do the other stuff!"

David Walliams is stepping down from the Britain's Got Talent judging panel, it has been reported.

According to new rumors, David Walliams — who has been part of the ITV talent show since 2012 — has made the decision to leave the BGT judging panel behind. The news was first reported by The Sun, which stated that the search to find Walliams' replacement may be underway soon.

Speaking to The Sun, a source close to the British comedian allegedly said: "David has decided to bow out after a ten-year run. He wants to leave on a high after a wonderful time. Being on the show has been a huge source of entertainment and joy for him and he is arguably the most popular member of the panel.

They added: "He hasn't taken the decision lightly, but it feels like the time to move on and focus on his other projects. His team have quietly been having conversations over the past few days where it has been made clear that David is readying himself to step down — and then producers will start to think about who might replace him. 

"His exit might not be popular with fans who adore him. But for David it appears that now, after an amazing ten years on the show, it is the right time to move on".

According to the report, the remaining celebrities are expected to return. So, we expect to see Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon lined up to take their places on the Britain's Got Talent panel once again when the talent show returns for its 16th series next year.

Following this news, the BBC has reported that a Britain's Got Talent spokesperson said: "The judging panel for Britain's Got Talent 2023 will be announced in due course. It's still very much up in the air at the moment on whether David is going to take part in next year's show. No decision, though, has been made yet."

Britain's Got Talent returned to our screens this year for the show's 15th series after being axed in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Comedian Axel Blake went on to win Britain's Got Talent 2022 after receiving Simon Cowell's Golden Buzzer. 

Britain's Got Talent is keen to make a spin-off series with a magical twist, according to reports.

Throughout the course of the show's run, we've seen all sorts of acts from singing, dancing, performing animals, and contortionists, but one act, in particular, could be getting its own spin-off: magicians.

Speaking about the concept, a  source told The Sun: "BGT might have been on air for fifteen-odd years, but Simon thinks there’s still so much life in the formant. If you look at the ratings, viewers still love the madcap mix of talents.

"He sees honing in on a specific theme as a really nice way forward and what better way to start than with magic? Over the years, the Got Talents all over the world have unearthed some amazing magic acts."

They added: "Of course, if the magical contest is successful when it airs, it paves the way for a raft of themed specials.

"There was talk of a Halloween special after the success of The Witch earlier this year, but that’s not going to happen for 2022. And imagine a contest dedicated entirely to the dog acts - perfection."

According to the publication, the one-off spectacular could invite back previous magical acts where they will compete to be crowned the Got Talent champion of magic, so it could be an interesting twist on the original format.

However, Simon Cowell and the judging panel have not yet publicly commented on the concept, so it's not known whether or not the magicians' spin-off is going ahead just yet. We'll have to wait and see!

Earlier this year, it was comedian Axel Blake who won Britain's Got Talent 2022 with singer Tom Ball in third place and ventriloquist Jamie Leahey as runner-up, so there was a mix of acts in the final three.

We have seen magicians win in the past though, with Richard Jones taking the title in during the tenth series of Britain's Got Talent in 2016, so there's definitely some keen interest in this type of act. 

To this day, Richard is the only magician to actually win the competition, but by putting the skill in the spotlight we could see more magical acts emerging. Watch this space!

Series 18 (2025) — Winner: Harry Moulding

Magician Harry Moulding wowed the country with his impressive magic tricks and was crowned the winner of Britain's Got Talent 2025 – securing himself a life-changing £250,000 cash prize and a coveted place on the bill of the Royal Variety Performance. Harry performed the winning magic routine which the judges described as 'incredible', beating other outstanding acts like dance group The Blackouts and nine-year-old dancer Binita Chetry.

Speaking of his win, Harry said on Lorraine: "I’ve literally spent every waking minute on putting everything I’ve got into those acts, some of the ideas have been things that I could only ever dreamed of and thankfully, thanks to Britain’s Got Talent, we were able to make that a reality and it’s just been a dream come true right since my audition. The whole process and journey that I’ve had has just been amazing."

Series 17 (2024) — Winner: Sydnie Christmas

Singer Sydnie Christmas was crowned winner of Britain's Got Talent 2024 after her moving performance of Over The Rainbow. The sensational singer scooped a cash prize of £250,000, as well as the chance to perform at Britain's Royal Variety Performance.

After her win, Sydnie said emotionally, "I am overwhelmed with love and it's the most amazing thing, and I wish every person in this room feels the way I do with this love. It's amazing. Thank you so much."

Speaking of her performance in the grand final, Simon Cowell said: "That was really something special. That lyric felt so personal to you about what you must have wanted over the years with a God-given talent like that and for whatever reason you've been ignored. I actually felt very emotional."

Sydnie beat nuclear engineer-turned-magician Jack Rhodes and Ghanaian dancing duo Abigail and Afronitaaa to the top spot in the final.

Series 16 (2023) — Winner: Viggo Venn

Norwegian comedian Viggo Venn was crowned the winner of Britain's Got Talent 2023 and had the audience roaring with laughter with his high-vis inspired routine, especially when he made Simon Cowell wear a matching high-vis jacket as rose petals were thrown over them.

The whole audience then stood up in their own high-vis jackets and sang 'One More Time' by Daft Punk in honour of his first audition where he performed to the hit song.

After winning the show, host Dec asked how Viggo felt to have “captured the heart of the nation”, to which he replied: “Not just the heart of Britain, but the heart of Simon.”

Series 15 (2022) — Winner: Axel Blake

Comedian Axel Blake beat singer Tom Ball and ventriloquist Jamie Leahey in the Britain's Got Talent 2022 final and was left lost for words after hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly announced his name.

Axel, who was also Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer choice, couldn't believe he'd scooped the £250,000 prize after delivering a stream of jokes during his incredible final performance which left the judges and the audience at home in tears of laughter.

Series 14 (2020) — Winner: Jon Courtenay

Comedic piano player, Jon Courtenay, sang about the highs and lows of living in lockdown in the final, winning the hearts of the nation and earning his place in the Britain's Got Talent winners hall of fame.

From his first audition, Jon wowed the crowds with his hilarious and original composition and became Ant and Dec's Golden Buzzer act, before earning votes from the judges in his semi-final.

Series 13 (2019) — Winner: Colin Thackery

There wasn't a dry eye in the country every time 89-year-old Chelsea Pensioner Colin sang his heart out on the Britain's Got Talent stage. After capturing the heart of the nation from his very first performance, Colin went on to win the series in 2019 and scoop the £250,000 prize money. Not only is he the oldest winner of the talent show, but he also released an album called Love Changes Everything, which got to number 13.

Series 12 (2018) — Winner: Lost Voice Guy 

Stand-up comedian Lost Voice Guy had the nation in stitches as he told jokes via a speech synthesizer after being diagnosed with cerebral palsy when he was just six months old. The judges couldn't get enough of his hilarious performances and since then Lost Voice Guy, whose real name is Lee Ridley, went on to write and star in Radio 4 sitcom, Ability.

Series 11 (2017) — Winner: Tokio Myers 

Pianist Tokio left the judges speechless when he performed his first audition in 2017. The super-talented musician not only plays the piano beautifully, but he adds his own twist, leaving all eyes on him. Since winning Britain's Got Talent, Tokio released an album called Our Generation which got to number 4 in the charts.

Series 10 (2016) — Winner: Richard Jones 

Richard became the first ever magician to win Britain's Got Talent, beating singer Wayne Woodward and Stormtrooper dance act Boogie Storm in the final. He went on to have his own one-off show on ITV called Operation Magic, and he now tours the UK with his magic shows.

Series 9 (2015) — Winner: Jules O'Dwyer and Matisse 

The 2015 final saw Jules O'Dwyer pretend to be a policewoman while Matisse was a sausage thief. Part of the act saw Matisse apparently walk a tightrope and the pair won the coveted prize money. However, controversy soon followed when it was revealed that the dog walking the tightrope wasn't in fact Matisse and was actually another dog called Chase. Viewers complained to Ofcom and it was decided that viewers had been misled.

Series 8 (2014) — Winner: Collabro 

Boyband Collabro became the first ever singing group to win Britain's Got Talent in 2014 and since their win they've gone on to have huge success. The debut album, Stars, went straight to number one run the UK, and their second album, Act 2, went in a number 2 in the album chart. Since then they have released three more albums which have all been well received.

Series 7 (2013) — Winner: Attraction 

Hungarian shadow theatre group attraction beat young comedian Jack Carroll in the 2013 live final with their tribute to Britain. Week after week the group gained a standing ovation for their moving performances... often leaving Britain's Got Talent judge, Amanda Holden, in tears.

Series 6 (2012) — Winner: Ashleigh and Pudsey 

Simon Cowell has never made any secret of the fact acts involving animals are his favorite, so imagine his delight when Ashleigh and her canine friend Pudsey won the completion in 2012. Following their win Pudsey even went on to star in his own film called Pudsey the Dog: The Movie... in which Britain's Got Talent judge, David Walliams, provided his voice.

Series 5 (2011) — Winner: Jai McDowall 

Throughout the whole of series five, everyone's money was on singer Ronan Parke to take home the Britain's Got Talent crown. But it wasn't until the live final that Scottish singer Jai McDowell shocked the nation with his rendition of "Bring Me To Life" by Evanescence and won by public vote.

Series 4 (2010) — Winner: Spelbound 

Gymnastics troupe Spelbound landed themselves a tidy £100,000 when they won Britain's Got Talent in 2010. The team then went on to not only perform at the Royal Variety Performance, but they also appeared in the Britain's Got Talent Live Tour and even the closing ceremony at the 2012 London Olympics.

Series 3 (2009) — Winner: Diversity 

2009 was a huge year for Britain's Got Talent. Not only did dance group Diversity win the coveted first place, but this was also the year that brought us Susan Boyle. Susan left the nation speechless with her version of "I Dreamed a Dream", and she became a superstar overnight. But it was Diversity that just pipped her to the post in the final. Ashley Banjo has since appeared on the Dancing On Ice judging panel, while Perri Kiely has had success on shows like Splash and a celebrity version of The Great British Bake Off.

Series 2 (2008) — Winner: George Sampson 

Breakdancer George wowed both the nation and judges with his amazing performance to Mint Royale's remix of the classic song "Singin' in the Rain". In fact, the UK loved George so much that the song itself re-entered the UK charts and got to number 1. Since his time on the reality TV show George has gone into acting, landing roles in Waterloo Road and Emmerdale.

Series 1 (2007) — Winner: Paul Potts

Over two million people voted for singer Paul to be crowned the very first winner of Britain's Got Talent in 2007. Since his victory, Paul has gone on to carve a career out of singing, while a film about his life was made called One Chance, starring none other than James Corden in 2013.

Following a week of nail-biting live semi-finals — which have given us sensational singers, dynamic dancers, mesmerizing magicians and lots more — the stage is set as the 10 most popular acts go head-to-head in the grand final of ITV’s entertainment juggernaut, Britain’s Got Talent. 

Once each act has performed, viewers at home will get the chance to vote for their favorite — judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon have no influence in the final, only the viewers can decide which act they want to see bag the coveted slot at the Royal Variety Performance and the £250,000 cash prize. 

Here Alesha and Amanda reveal why Britain's Got Talent 2022 will be one to remember…

Ten glorious years 

"This series was myself, Simon, David and Amanda’s 10th year together as a panel," says Alesha. "I’ve always found it fascinating because the four of us are VERY different personality-wise, yet, when we come together, we’ve got this love for entertainment, this show, our kids and our dogs and all those things unite us. We have respect for one another in our individual fields, we laugh a lot and, collectively, it just works. You can see the chemistry we have on screen. We see each other outside of the show and, over the years, we’ve built a genuine friendship."

Return of live audiences 

"I have to say, I was relieved we had our audience back at the auditions as it wasn’t the same without them," says Amanda. "It made us realise just how important that live audience is. The energy they bring to the show makes them very influential to the performer on stage."

Something for all the family 

"It’s always a challenge for everyone involved in making this show to maintain a high standard and make sure every episode is as entertaining as the one before it and, this year, I think every show has been a winner," says Alesha. "I sit at home with my family and I watch BGT as if I wasn't ever there! I laugh out loud, get emotional and go on the journey all over again. I love being able to watch with my children, my mum and my nan - entertainment shows that bring the whole family together are very rare."

Going for gold 

"I hadn’t a clue what I wanted for my Golden Buzzer this year," admits Amanda. "None of us plan it, and that's why they're so authentic because they are heartfelt and you have to have that feeling. I couldn't wait for singer Loren Allred to get to the end of her audition because I knew I needed to get that buzzer pressed before anyone else did it. There were a lot of acts this year where I think each one of us would've said: 'I would've pressed it for that.' I think all of us had strong Golden Buzzer acts this year."

The Phantom Menace 

"One standout moment for me was the phantom man, who got me up on stage,' recalls Amanda. "I’ll be honest, I can't really remember what happened. One minute I was on stage and then the next minute I was asleep, and Alesha was like: “Well, you just did this.” And I was like: “No, I didn’t.” I was tasked with guessing what the other judges had picked from a box. He obviously had control over my mind because I guessed exactly whatever Alesha picked, even though I didn’t see it. I don't know how it happened or how it worked."

Mesmerising magician 

"I loved Ant and Dec’s Golden Buzzer act, Keiichi Iwasaki, the magician from Japan," says Alesha. "His magic was genius and really fresh. How he made that ring spin by itself was outstanding. He did a lot of physical comedy, too. His whole act from start to finish was just the gift that kept on giving, so I was really looking forward to seeing him again in the live shows. There have been so many magic moments this series - a lot of acts have shown just a glimpse of what they can do."

Captivating choirs 

"We had loads of choirs, which is something we've never had lots of before," says Amanda. "What was really special this year is that many of them had just come together that day, because they'd only ever met on Zoom before! We had people that work for the NHS, we had schools and we had  The Voices of Armed Forces Children’s Choir. All these groups of people who were the unsung heroes of the pandemic, who got through it by singing and trying to stay joyful, met for the first time on our show."

Front row seats 

"At the final, us judges feel like we have the best seats in the house," enthuses Alesha. "We get to just sit back and enjoy the show. We are rooting for these acts; we’re there to support them and we want them to do well. There might be a couple of acts in there that we agree to disagree on but it's very rare for one of us to hit the red buzzer for an act in the final. It's more about celebrating entertainment, and the best of the best."

Who will win?

"What does it take to win Britain’s Got Talent? It takes heart, soul, vulnerability, hard work and, of course, talent but it’s also about putting yourself on the line and making that human connection," says Alesha. 

"You can’t always put your finger on it but there will be something about someone, their journey and their story that touches people’s hearts and makes the public want to root for them. When I think back to Diversity winning in 2009 or Ashley and Pudsey winning in 2012 or Attraction winning in 2013, all of those moments are really special, unique and deserving. I think 99% of the time the public gets it right but I can never call the result - once it comes to the final it’s anyone's for the taking!"

Britain’s Got Talent 2022: When are the live shows?

Britain’s Got Talent returned to our TV screens on Saturday, April 16 on ITV. The live semi-finals will air nightly on ITV at 8pm from Monday, May 30, leading up to the live final on Sunday, June 5, which starts at the slightly earlier time of 7:30 pm.

Britain’s Got Talent 2022: Are there any new elements this series? 

It seems Britain’s Got Talent has a new surprise twist for 2022, called Golden Moments, which sees talented people being nominated by their friends or family to audition for the show without their knowledge.

Each judge will surprise a different person, inviting them to take to the stage for an audition at the London Palladium.  

Unlike the Golden Buzzer, contestants who are selected for a Golden Moment will not automatically be put through to the live shows.

With these new Golden Moments, will the hosts and the judges still have their Golden Buzzer acts?

Absolutely. Because the talent was so strong, TWO acts received a Golden Buzzer on the very first day of auditions. 

The first Golden Buzzer act was Loren Allred. She revealed that she provided the vocals for 'Never Enough' from The Greatest Showman, and she performed the song which was performed by Jenny Lind (played by Rebecca Ferguson) for her audition. This stunning rendition earned her a Golden Buzzer from Amanda Holden.

The second Golden Buzzer act was comedian Axel Blake; his hilarious routine impressed the judges and earned him a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell.

With Ant and Dec’s Golden Buzzer act, Jon Courtenay, winning in 2020, will a Golden Buzzer act be crowned the winner once more?

It's crunch time on Britain's Got Talent 2022! After the eighth and final audition show this Saturday judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams must choose their favourite 40 acts to join the five Golden Buzzer recipients as ITV’s entertainment spectacular starts its much-anticipated week of live semi-finals on Monday, May 30.

The auditions have once again given us some truly special moments, with several acts this year given a surprise invite to perform at The London Palladium, including Doncaster dad-of-two Nick Edwards, who was asked to give a rendition of Ernie Halter’s "Daddy’s Little Girl" after his mum and his young daughters, Cali and Savannah, suddenly appeared on stage! 

Here, in an exclusive interview, Nick tells us why it’d be a dream come true to take part in the semi-finals… 

Watch as this year's semi-finalists are revealed on Saturday, May 28 at 8 pm. The semi-finals will air nightly Monday-Friday at 8pm on ITV.

Britain’s Got Talent found itself in a bit of hot water after Saturday’s show, after professional singer Loren Allred getting the ‘Golden Buzzer’ treatment from Amanda Holden.

The America-born singer, who is featured on The Greatest Showman soundtrack, caused a sensation in the London Palladium with audiences cheering and on their feet after she sang Never Enough.

Her act was the last to feature on the 90-minute show. However, many viewers at home, while not denying her talent, thought it was unfair that an already-successful singer should be competing on the show.

The Golden Buzzer means that Loretta goes straight through to the live final.

But it was another Britain's Got Talent act viewers felt should be destined for success.

Early in the show, 13-year-old Jamie Leahey took to the stage with his bird puppet, Chuck.

The boy, from St Helens, learned ventriloquism during lockdown, and soon had audiences in stitches with his cheeky jokes.

He then stunned them when, as the finale to his act, he burst into song. Jamie revealed a great singing voice as he and Chuck duetted on the song Me and My Shadow.

The audience went mad for the lad, and the judges were equally impressed.

“You have incredible talent,” said David.

“That was so slick – and all the time I was thinking how I can’t believe you’re just 13-years-old,” added Alesha.

And viewers at home also thought Jamie was a cut above – and should be the one to go all the way in the show.

“Jamie will make the lives,” predicted one. While another lamented, “Jamie should have got the golden buzzer.”

Could we be seeing a 'David and Goliath' battle between Jamie and Loren as the final approaches?

Other successful acts on Saturday included a spooky in visible ghost called The Phantom and doting dad Nick Edwards, who had the audience in tears with a song dedicated to his two daughters.

The talent show saw judges Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Williams reunite as Ant & Dec returned for hosting duties.

Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have revealed they had two Golden Buzzers on the first day of Britain's Got Talent 2022.

When What To Watch catches up with them for a video chat about the return of ITV's entertainment juggernaut Britain's Got Talent after a year's hiatus from our screen. And the popular presenters promise us that the standard of talent is as strong as ever!

"There was a real renewed sense of excitement when we all got back together again at the London Palladium with an actual audience," explains Dec.

"There was a renewed appreciation of the talent, too," adds Ant. "BGT being away for a while meant that all the talent was fresh and really good."

As the auditions begins, the 15th series will again see a wonderful array of acts. take to the stage in the hope of impressing judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams for the chance to perform at the Royal Variety Performance and win a £250,000 cash prize.

Here, Ant and Dec — both 46 — tell us more…

The show took a break last year because of the pandemic. What impact has being away had on the standard of talent?

Dec: "We had some acts who’d met in the last two years and had rehearsed over Zoom to perform together for the first time in front of an audience at the London Palladium. It was very moving that they’d used what was a horrible time to create something positive. BGT 2022 felt like a really special series. Also, what we love about BGT is that we never know whether the next act coming around the corner is going to be absolutely bonkers or a global superstar. What keeps the show fresh after all these years is that it continues to surprise us."

What’s the dynamic like between judges Simon, Amanda, Alesha and David this time?

Ant: "This is the 10th year that this group of judges has been together. I couldn't imagine BGT having any other judges now and the four of them were on great form again. David’s been winding Simon up a treat and we ribbed Simon about falling off his bike. A lot."

There’s a new element this year, Golden Moments…

Dec: "The Golden Moments sees people, who probably wouldn’t apply for the show themselves, being nominated by friends or family to audition. Each judge surprised a different person, inviting them to the London Palladium."

Ant: "We had one guy, who was sitting in the audience, when his two daughters walked on stage and surprised him. He rehearsed and, later, came out on stage and sang a song about them. It was really touching. Half the theatre was in tears, I know we were."

Do you and the judges still have a Golden Buzzer act each?

Dec: "Yep, we still have those. We felt a bit of pressure this year because our Golden Buzzer act, comedy pianist Jon Courtenay, won the last series, so we are defending champions!"

Ant: "Yes, so we’ve got a lot at stake. Our Golden Buzzer act this time is a guy who’s very funny and very different to what we’ve had before but his talent is exceptional. The talent was so strong this year, we had two Golden Buzzers on the first day of auditions."

Can we expect any really unusual acts?

Dec: "We had The Invisible Man audition for us! Fifteen series in and we’ve never had The Invisible Man, so that was a first and it was an incredible audition. How will it work on TV? You’ll have to wait and see…"

If BGT was around when you were starting out, would you have auditioned?

Dec: "Ha, ha! No, I don’t think so. We certainly wouldn’t have put PJ and Duncan together and gone up there with 'Let’s Get Ready to Rhumble' that’s for sure!"

Ant: "We both went to Newcastle College for a year and did performing arts together. We’d tour the old people’s homes with a little two-man show, where we’d perform sketches and stuff…"

Dec: "The old people hated it, so I can’t see it working on Britain’s Got Talent!"

What act from the past 14 series do you think epitomises Britain’s Got Talent?

Dec: "When you say the words Britain’s Got Talent the act that stands out for me would be dance troop Diversity. I think they're the ultimate BGT winners."

Ant: "I’d say, our very first winner, Paul Potts. At the auditions that day, Paul was among a few acts waiting to go on and me and Dec thought: ‘It doesn’t look like there are any potential winners there, let’s go and have lunch.’ So there we are, eating ham and cheese sandwiches, and we can hear Nessun Dorma coming through the dressing room speakers followed by a massive standing ovation. We raced to the stage to chat to Paul and luckily we caught him. We now interview everybody — we wouldn’t want to miss the winner."

The nation’s much-loved talent show Britain’s Got Talent 2022 is coming back to our screens after two years away — and it’s returning sooner than you think.

Britain’s Got Talent 2022 released a teaser clip to celebrate its return, which featured a montage of some of the most famous auditions over the last few years, while also confirming that the show will be back on our screens in April.

Last year, the hit competition show was canceled by ITV as it would have been too difficult to film safely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, it’s back with both the previous judges (Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell and David Walliams) as well as presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly reuniting to search for rising talent across the country.

According to the Daily Mail, they reported that host Ant got emotional and teared up during the auditions back in January. He apparently said to the audience: "Excuse me while I go and cry. We are so excited to be back. We were gutted to miss last year and not get to see you all. But we’re back, raring to go and have one hell of a show for you."

Meanwhile, it was also confirmed earlier this year that Britain’s Got Talent has officially begun filming, with judge David posting a picture of the BGT gang on social media.

The Sun also reported that ex Coronation Street villain Ian Bartholomew had wowed the judges with his emotional performance during the first round of auditions.

Ian is known for playing vile domestic abuser Geoff Metcalfe, who horrifically abused his wife Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) in Coronation Street. 

He made an appearance on this year’s Britain’s Got Talent during the first round of auditions, where he performed his own song “This Time.” All the money raised from the track goes to Women’s Aid, a charity that helps domestic abuse victims.

Before his performance, Ian introduced himself saying, “I am from Cheshire. I was in Coronation Street. I played nasty Geoff Metcalfe. He was a nasty piece of work. I started in 2018 and I fell off a roof in the show last year. I am 67.” 

He then went on to say that he’s taking part in the competition to raise awareness of domestic abuse.

"The song I am singing I wrote myself and was used in a campaign by Women's Aid to raise awareness about domestic abuse. I am not here for me, I am here for the charity and the abused victims.”

Of course, the judges will also be armed with their dreaded red buttons and the legendary golden buzzer once again — but who will be awarded with the golden buzzer? Britain’s Got Talent 2022 is set to air this year. However, there has been no confirmed release date. 

We do know that the audition process has already started with the Daily Mirror reporting that host Ant got emotional and teared up during the auditions. He said to the audience: "Excuse me while I go and cry. We are so excited to be back. We were gutted to miss last year and not get to see you all. But we’re back, raring to go and have one hell of a show for you."

What happens in 'Britain's Got Talent' 2022?

Britain's Got Talent 2022 is an opportunity for people with various talents to perform in front of the judges and a live audience for a chance to win £250,000. They also get the opportunity to perform in front of royalty at the Royal Variety Performance.

If they manage to impress the judges enough, they could earn themselves a golden buzzer which allows them a place in one of the live semi-final shows. However, if they disappoint, they could receive a big red X from the judges if they press their red button.

Coronation Street star Ian Bartholomew recently had Britain’s Got Talent judges in tears with his moving performance during auditions for the new series.

Ian is known for playing vile domestic abuser Geoff Metcalfe, who horrifically abused his wife Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) in Coronation Street. 

He made an appearance on this year’s Britain’s Got Talent during the first round of auditions, according to The Sun, where he performed his own song This Time. All the money raised from the track goes to Women’s Aid, a charity which helps domestic abuse victims.

Before his performance, Ian introduced himself saying, “I am from Cheshire. I was in Coronation Street. I played nasty Geoff Metcalfe. He was a nasty piece of work. I started in 2018 and I fell off a roof in the show last year. I am 67.”

Ian also revealed: “The song came out of the first lockdown when cases of domestic abuse were going through the roof and three women were dying every two weeks and I was so angry and I still am. The judges and audiences were overwhelmed with emotion and he earned a yes from judges Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell, and David Walliams.

"You did it brilliantly and it is going to do loads of good by reaching out to people on TV and it will help the charity. The whole package is incredible and it is unexpected because you are an actor from Coronation Street and this is a very difficult subject. It worked very well,” David Walliams commented.

Amanda and Simon were highly impressed by Ian’s beautiful performance and even suggested that he could sing with domestic abuse victims, with Amanda explaining: "It would have a much bigger and better impact. Maybe it is something we can think about. I saw a woman here and she was in absolute bits and you are a champion for them. 

“For me, it would work much better if you had some women with you and form some kind of choir if they are brave enough to stand with you. It is this odd concept of this man that we all know from Corrie singing about these poor women.

"I think it needs some coming out behind you so we can turn it into something even stronger. The song is very beautiful."

Choreographer Ashley Banjo led dance troupe Diversity to victory in the 2009 series of Britain’s Got Talent, famously beating big favourite Susan Boyle in a final that was watched by more than 17 million viewers. 

But when the group returned to make a guest appearance on the show last year, their routine, which referenced the death of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement, sparked a backlash. 

"My world changed with one performance," recalls the 33-year-old. "That moment was scary and I just thought: 'What have we done?'"

This time, to Ashley’s amazement, their appearance was the subject of more than 24,000 complaints and countless negative tweets. "Diversity are used to being liked," he adds. "I became public enemy number one."

He was particularly struck by the fact some of the complainers were people who had previously voted for Diversity. "It’s alright when we were entertaining people and dancing around," he says. "But not if we speak our minds."

In search of answers as to why that happened, Ashley seeks out a diverse range of opinions from people including singer and Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon and actor David Harewood, in the ITV documentary Ashley Banjo: Britain in Black and White.

His most memorable encounter is with comedian Jim Davidson, who had aired his negative views about the dance in an online video. To Ashley’s disappointment, Jim walks out of the interview. 

However, seven months after their controversial performance, Ashley and the Diversity crew received a resounding affirmation, when they won the BAFTA TV award for Must-See Moment. 

Receiving the award, Ashley said: "As much as there is so much that needs to change, this is what change looks like!"

David Walliams jokes he will miss the money!

David Walliams, 49, appeared on Lorraine earlier today and revealed what he misses about Britain’s Got Talent after it was cancelled for 2021.

Lorraine Kelly asked: “There’s no Britain’s Got Talent, are you going to miss it? Are you going to miss your Simon?”

David joked: “I’m going to miss the money!”, before explaining that he understood why BGT was cancelled this year.

He continued: “We can’t do the show as normal because, if you think about it, if we have a dance group come on the show there’s like 50 people up there all sort of jumping up and down on each other, or like a massive choir or something.

"You’ll just have to have so many restrictions on who can come into the building, who can’t and who can be in contact with each other. I just think the show just wouldn’t be the show.”

David then joked about the need for an audience, saying: "I definitely need one, I’m a terrible show-off, but also we need the atmosphere in the room.

“When we tour the country doing auditions it’s like the circus has come to town. There's an amazing atmosphere in the room with people being such a big part of the show.”

He concluded more positively, stating: "hopefully, we’ll be back bigger and better next year.”

The show won't go on in 2021...

Britain's Got Talent 2021 has officially been axed, as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Initially they had hoped they'd be able to hold auditions in the summer, with live finals ready for the end of the year.

Filming on Britain's Got 2021 had already been postponed. And now they've made the difficult decision to cancel the new series, due to health and safety concerns. One of these concerns was the fact that some acts are groups, and need to be close to one another in order to perform.

In a statement, the producers said: "Despite everyone at ITV, Thames and Syco doing their best to make it happen, and with our absolute priority of safeguarding the well-being and health of every person involved in the programme from judges, hosts and contestants to all of the crew and audience, the decision has been made to – unfortunately - move the record and broadcast of the 15th series of Britain's Got Talent to 2022."

“BGT is known for its diversity of talent with big dance groups, wonderful choirs and lavish orchestras at its heart, and it has become clear that not only is it not possible to film auditions with these types of acts in a secure way but also that they are not able to adequately rehearse and prepare safely."

They added, "Safety has to come first and, as a result, the recording of the show can’t currently go ahead as planned.”

Earlier this month, judge Amanda Holden spoke about how she couldn't see the show going ahead without the contributions of the live audience. Some programmes have managed to adjust without a studio audience, but the judge didn't believe it would work.

Amanda said: "I think out of every show on television Britain’s Got Talent needs the audience. We need you guys, because we call them the fifth judge and it just makes no sense not to have them behind us."

Despite the sad news, producers are hoping that they can resume as normal in 2022.
