Lucy Pargeter has revealed she will be returning to Emmerdale after she left earlier this year to give birth to twin girls.

Emmerdale actress Lucy Pargeter has revealed that she will be returning to the Dales soon.

Fans of the soap have been waiting for the return of Chas Dingle since Lucy left earlier this year to give birth to twins Betsy and Missy.

And it looks like fans won't have long to wait. Lucy, who has starred as Chas on the soap since 2002, tweeted the happy news that she returned to work yesterday.

Tweeting from her account on Wednesday, Lucy wrote: "Big day tomorrow my beautiful#twirls turn 5 months and I go back to work !! Huge mix of emotions I'm going to miss them so much #workingmum"

The mum-of-three was inundated with supportive tweets from not only fans, but her fellow co-star Jonathan Wrather, who plays evil Pierce Harris.

He tweeted: "Bless ya good luck Parge it'll go well I'm sure it will x"

During her pregnancy, Lucy spoke out to offer kind words of support to people going through the turmoil of IVF treatment.

Lucy revealed how she and fiance Rudi Coleano had tried to get pregnant for 11 years before turning to fertility treatment.

Speaking to OK magazine, Lucy said: “The whole process is extremely hard. The not knowing, the wanting to get excited.

“For my age, the chance of it working was 20%, so we were pumping so much money into it and wanted it so badly, but it was completely out of our control.

“You can do everything right, but if those eggs don’t want to stick, they won’t.”

Sean Slater (Robert Kazinsky) flew into a rage and had to be held back by policemen after he realised he had been stitched up by Deano Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) and Chelsea Fox (Tiana Benjamin). They have told the cops that Sean attacked Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker), as he worked in the Minute Mart, and left him lying unconscious, with blood pouring from a head wound. It was Chelsea’s revenge for Sean cheating on her with her stepsister, Carly Wicks. The real attacker was Craig Dixon, who had argued with Patrick over buying alcohol.

Newcomer Craig Dixon (Rory Jennings) was trouble for more than Patrick… He got a job working in Ian Beale’s chippy but put most of his effort into pursuing Ian’s daughter, Lucy who, this time 10 years ago, was being played by Melissa Suffield – the third of four actresses to play the character. Thirteen-year-old Lucy was five years younger than Craig, but that didn’t put him off. They started a secret relationship and Lucy was keen to impress Craig. So when he told her to steal from the Minute Mart, she did!

Steve McDonald [Simon Gregson] was feeling awkward when Michelle Connor [Kym Marsh] and her son Ryan [Ben Thompson] arrived back in Weatherfield. After their fling, Steve wasn’t sure what to say to Michelle. He was desperate to say something, but he didn’t know where he stood with her (we’d say it’s about 10ft away, from the look of the picture…). Michelle put him out of his misery when she later visited him and told him she loved him. Of course, she hadn’t heard about his dalliance with Shania in Malta – or that Shania was, in fact, a man!

Norris Cole [Malcolm Hebden] got a shock this time 10 years ago, when he heard that his ex-wife, Angela, had died. He went to her funeral and met two more of her ex-husbands, Ivor Priestley [Paul Copley] and George Trent [Keith Barron]. They found they had a lot in common and regrouped in The Rovers, where they decided to form and ex-husbands’ club. Norris got a bit giddy and confided in Ivor and George that he had found a woman he wanted to marry.

Chas Dingle [Lucy Pargeter] and Lexi Nicholls [Sally Oliver] were running scared… Chas had bedded gangster Colin McFarlane for a bet with Lexi and her, er, enthusiasm, had killed him! But Mrs Brenda McFarlane [Judy Holt] isn’t wearing widow’s weeds when she tracks them down – and she hasn’t come mob-handed. Instead, she’s got a wad of cash for them – a thank you for killing her husband, who was a bully. Phew!

Lexi also had another, much trickier problem this week 10 years ago… Her mum, Carrie Nicholls (Linda Lusardi) found a leaflet for an abortion clinic in schoolgirl daughter Scarlett’s pocket and immediately assumed that Scarlett had been pregnant and had an abortion. Lexi tried to calm her down, but Carrie already thought Lexi was a bad influence on her little sister – and now this! She had made a mistake, though. Scarlett had picked up the leaflet when she accompanied her big brother Jimmy’s girlfriend, Kelly Windsor, to the clinic.

Hannah Ashworth [Emma Rigby] was still starving herself and people were starting to notice that she didn’t look well. One of them was her friend, Sarah Barnes [Loui Batley], and she was shocked when Hannah collapsed at the SU Bar, right in front of her and John Paul McQueen [James Sutton]. Sarah feared Hannah was on drugs. But it wasn’t what Hannah was taking that was making her ill, it was what she wouldn’t take – a good meal!

Pregnant Jacqui McQueen [Claire Cooper] was due to have her 12-week scan. She was desperate to have a baby, but her fella, Tony Hutchinson [Nick Picard], was less excited, as he found loving Jacqui was hard work.

So, Tony had planned to miss the scan. But he changed his mind – and was with Jacqui when she was told there was no heartbeat; their baby had died.

One person who definitely won’t be rushing out to buy a Mother’s Day card this year is Chas Dingle, who can barely look at mum Faith without snarling. But Faith’s determined to get closer to her daughter and, when Debbie steps in to help, Chas isn’t feeling the love. “She is determined not to make things up with her mum,” Chas actress Lucy Pargeter tells Soaplife. “She wouldn’t be bothered if she got on the next bus and left.”

What’s the relationship like between Chas and Faith? “It isn’t good at all. They’re at loggerheads and Chas would rather her mum went back to wherever she came from. She doesn’t like her being around and wheedling her way back into the family.”

But Faith is trying really hard… “She is. Faith [Sally Dexter] continuously tries to make things up to her daughter. She’s like, ‘I’m trying here! Why aren’t you giving me anything back?’ She wants to explain herself and she’s trying to have that conversation.”

Why does Chas hate her so much? “Everything stems from Chas’ upbringing with Faith and how she left her and her brother, Cain [Jeff Hordley], and disappeared out of their lives. I don’t think Faith’s parenting skills were brilliant when she was around either.”

Why can’t Chas forgive her? “She blames her mum for all the mistakes she made with her own son, Aaron [Danny Miller]. The trouble is, Faith reminds her that she hasn’t always been the best mum either, but she didn’t exactly have a great role model.”

How does Debbie try to patch things up between Faith and Chas? “Chas asks niece Debbie [Charley Webb] if she can help as she’s really worried about Sarah, who’s going though cancer treatment. Debbie invites her to have lunch at the farm and says, ‘Don’t worry. Faith isn’t there. She’s in town.’ But when she turns up, Faith is there and Debbie forces her to is sit down and chat.”

We hear a situation with Liv Flaherty’s mum, Sandra, gives Chas a way out… “Yes. Sandra’s had an accident in Ireland, where she lives. Because of all that’s happening with Faith and because Aaron’s in prison, Chas is Liv’s acting mother and she agrees to take Liv [Isobel Steele] over to see her mum.”

Does that mean you’re going to be leaving Emmerdale, Lucy? “It will be me gone for a while, though not for too long. I’ll be in Ireland having a lovely summer, but I’ll be back soon…”

How is Chas feeling in the wake of Gordon's death?

"For Chas, Gordon's death is not a relief, but it is some kind of justice. However, she's worried about the affect it has on Aaron [Danny Miller], who'll never get closure. Gordon [Gary Mavers] will never admit what he did and Chas is concerned about him and Liv [Isobel Steele]."

What’s going on with DS Wise?

"He was a constant reassuring arm, throughout the whole trial. Whenever Chas went on one of her vengeance trips, he would say, 'No, trust us, we'll sort it!'. He fancies Chas, but she isn't ready for a relationship so soon after Gordon."

How does she end up getting run over by James?

"She has a binge session with Charity in the pub and, next day, she goes for a walk to clear her head. James [Bill Ward], meanwhile, is rehearsing a proposal as he plans to ask Emma to marry him. Neither of them are concentrating and, when Chas steps in front of the car, it clips her and she hurts her hand."

And how does that lead to her doing a pregnancy test at his house?

"James takes her to hospital and a nurse asks Chas if she might be pregnant and it just kind of comes out. She has a pregnancy test, she's been meaning to do, and she tells James about it. She does it at his house, but it gives Emma [Gillian Kearney] the wrong idea."

Then Chas has a panic attack, right?

"The bar is trashed and she freaks out. She's been having nightmares and she isn't sleeping well. She thinks her PTSD must be back, but can't think how because she's been having treatment and it's all been going well. Everything is getting on top of her and she has this panic attack, which Emma witnesses."

Ah, Emma… Why does Chas let Emma help her?

"Emma helped her before when she was ill. She helps her to get her breath and she suggests getting her into a mental health clinic. She's a nurse so Chas has no reason to be suspicious."

Is the PTSD back?

"You'll have to wait and see. Chas will always have to keep an eye on her mental health. PTSD is something you can live with and deal with, but you have to be on guard to nip it in the bud if it reappears."

Are you enjoying running The Woolpack with Charity?

“I love Emma Atkins [who plays Charity] to bits. She's a breath of fresh air and extremely funny, but I do miss Liz Estensen [who plays Diane] dearly, as we worked behind the bar for so many years together.”

What is in store for Chas? 

"I've got no idea. I haven't had a meeting with our new producer. I heard a rumour via a co-star that Chas was getting together with a certain member of the cast. I'd be very pleased if this happens as I love them dearly…"

Can Cain help when his nephew, Aaron, starts self-harming again?

Bad things happen in soap operas, and, let’s be honest, we probably wouldn’t tune in if they didn’t. Pay a visit to Emmerdale village and you’re likely to cross paths with murderers, adulterers and crooks in the time it takes to walk from the Woolpack to the corner shop.

For one resident however, the constant trauma is now taking its toll. Chas Dingle, who has been behaving oddly for a while, is diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder next week. She’s already stabbed poor Diane Sugden in the dark and is convinced that she is being stalked by off-kilter nurse Emma Barton, but the truth is the demons are all in her head…

Emmerdale’s Lucy Pargeter talks to TV Times about Chas Dingle’s disturbing battle with mental illness.

How have you tackled the mental health storyline?

“I am surprised that the whole village hasn’t been diagnosed with it at some point [laughs]. Finally, we are showing the audience that you can’t go through as much stuff as Chas has without there being some consequences.

"People think it is only soldiers that suffer from PTSD, but it can happen to anybody and can have so many different triggers.”

What research have you done to portray the illness truthfully?

"We have been working closely with the charity MIND. They are quite happy for us to be doing this with a female character. We have been working with them to find out how the symptoms can manifest. With Chas, there has been some sleepwalking and when it really takes over, hallucinations kick in.”

You’ve been in Emmerdale for 13 years and had some very demanding storylines to date...

“Yes, Chas was raped by Carl King in 2012 and a year later, narrowly escaped death at the hands of Cameron Power, who was engaged to her niece. What is happening now is the repercussions of all the things that have happened over the years to Chas. And the way they are filming it, is very different.”

The PTSD storyline must have been pretty challenging?

“It’s been a really big challenge. I like the way they have built it up gradually. I knew that this was coming up earlier this year and have been looking forward to it.”

You’ve been working flat out and recently moved house, so how have you managed?

 “We’re renovating this new house and my daughter has changed school, so it’s been full on. I’ve been really het up for the past couple of months, but it has been brilliant. As an actor, you always have that devil on your shoulder saying 'You’re not doing this right', but I hope I have. If I haven’t, I apologise massively. I’ve been blessed really because it is a great storyline.”

What do you do to unwind after a hard day at work?

“I’m a real homebody and love chilling out with my family and walking the dogs. But I haven’t been able to relax at home because it’s been in a state of upheaval. I have just had a week’s holiday, but it hasn’t really been a holiday because I spent the time wrangling with builders.

“I haven’t had any time to relax, but I’m fine, really. I would like a massage and I’d really love a manicure, but I just don’t have the time. Let’s just say I am really looking forward to Christmas.”

Do you find it hard juggling work and home life?

“Nobody talks openly about what a struggle it is to juggle work and home life – you can’t have it all as it kind of has to fall apart. Everything frays at the edges and something has to give. I am not special. Everybody does it. It’s what happens in normal life it is just that our hours are a bit more unsociable, but then if we weren’t doing it, we wouldn’t be able to enjoy the lifestyle that we have.

“When I come to work, I am never bored. If you were doing these hours and not having fun at work, well, that would be scary.”

How do you manage to look great and keep in good shape after such long hours at work?

“I put it down to what I eat and drink. I’m a keen juicer and have got half the cast of Emmerdale downing exotic concoctions on a regular basis. Everybody here juices now. I used to do it every night, but that was a bit of a strain, so I do it on a Sunday and shove it all in the freezer to take out the night before.

"I am not perfect, though, as some weeks when I am really busy, as it is at the moment, my life is one big snack fest!”

Living in fear for her life in Emmerdale, traumatised Chas arms herself with a knife - and uses it on Diane, Lucy Pargeter tells Soaplife.

Why is Chas so jumpy at the moment?

“She’s convinced that she’s being stalked. She’s been locked in the cellar, there have been strange goings on in her bedroom and in the bar and she’s heard noises outside. She thinks it’s Emma [Gillian Kearney], who is a bit odd.”

Why does she think Emma has it in for her?

“Emma has this insecurity when it comes to James [Bill Ward]. As soon as he shows any concern for his ex-lover Chas, she thinks he will go back to her.”

Does Chas want James back?

“She has no interest in him at all. In fact, she almost feels betrayed by him because he keeps sticking up for Emma.”

So what does Chas think when she wakes up to find a knife by her bed?

“She thinks it’s a message from Emma – her way of saying that she will need to watch her back. She completely freaks out.”

And then she hears a noise downstairs…

“She thinks Emma is coming to get her – and if it’s not Emma, it’s somebody else. The mystery stalker is downstairs and Chas fears for her life.  She goes to investigate and takes the knife with her to defend herself.  When she gets downstairs, she hears something and instinct kicks in. She thinks, ‘It’s them or me’ and lunges forward… stabbing Diane!”

No!

“Yes! Chas is horrified to see Diane fall to the floor with a knife wound. She can’t believe what she’s done. She tries to stop the bleeding and calls Aaron [Danny Miller]. He and Cain turn up and Chas runs away. She’s in a panic and Cain [Jeff Hordley] goes after her.”

What’s going on with Chas?

“She has been through a lot and it has got to a point where her family can’t help her any more. She needs some serious professional help.”

Has she killed her friendship with Diane now?

“I hope not. They’re great as a team and I really love working with Liz [Estensen]. The trouble is, Chas has let Diane down many times over the years and Diane has always been quite forgiving. This might be the final straw.”

Robert has made more enemies than friends since he moved back to Emmerdale village last year. He betrayed his wife, Chrissie, by having an affair with gay mechanic, Aaron, tried to kill vet, Paddy, in a farm 'acciden' and blackmailed Cain over some incriminating photos. And that's just for starters!

But next week, it all kicks off in the village when Andy accidentally discovers Robert was responsible for the fatal fall which killed his wife, Katie, at Wylie's Farm earlier this year...

Robert is left beaten and bruised after a violent showdown with his angry brother, Andy. Will Andy report Robert to the police and see his hated brother sent to prison over the death of Katie? Or will Robert manage to talk his way out of trouble...again?!

Meanwhile, Chas learns the shock truth about her son Aaron's involvement in helping lover Robert cover up the crime scene following Katie's fatal fall at Wylie's Farm. Realising Aaron could be incriminated in the crime if Robert is arrested, a furious Chas warns Robert to leave the village...or else!

But it's too late! After a conversation with her brother, Cain, it's clear Chas is out for Robert's blood. As the pair stand arguing outside The Woolpack, a gunshot is heard and Robert collapses!

Chas is in a state of shock as Robert lies motionless on the ground. It's not long before Aaron and Dan (in a comedy wig he's wearing for Harriet's birthday party in The Woolpack) appear and start to try and save Robert's life.

Robert's younger sister Victoria and stepmum Diane fear the worst as they race out of the party at The Woolpack and see the shock scene before them. Will Robert survive?

With the ambulance on the way, everybody begins to wonder what happened? Who shot Robert? Does Chas hold the answers to what happened in the moments before the shooting?

Aaron is alarmed when he sees Chas's blood-stained hands from where Robert slumped into her as he collapsed to the ground. Chas has vowed to keep Aaron's involvement in Katie's death a secret. But how far will she go to protect him?

The paramedics arrive and start CPR on Robert...but it's not looking good. Meanwhile, more party-goers appear from The Woolpack and are alarmed at the village drama. Is the shooter still on the loose?

Robert has crossed so many people in the village, the police will have their work cut out trying to discover who shot him. But as the paramedics race against time to try and save him, the incident could become a murder investigation...

As Robert's life hangs in the balance, he is rushed to hospital for emergency surgery. Victoria and Diane keep an anxious vigil outside Robert's hospital room. But where are Andy and Chrissie? Could either of them had something to do with the shock shooting?

Chas has unknowingly put herself in deadly danger, since she threatened to expose Robert and Aaron's affair to Robert's unsuspecting wife, Chrissie. Determined to protect his deadly secrets, Robert is ready to do whatever it takes and has already tried to bump off Chas... twice!

"If Chas knew what Robert was really capable of, she'd get in there and stand up to him," reckons Lucy Pargeter, who plays Chas. "There's no way she'd go, 'Oh, he's dangerous!' and back off. Chas has never done that in her life."

But while Emmerdale viewers wait to see if Robert will finally be exposed for the part he played in the death of Chas's best friend, Katie, at Wylie's Farm back in February, Ryan Hawley who plays Robert isn't giving anything away...

"That's what keeps us on our toes. If I tell you anything, I'll have to kill you!" he laughs.

Slowly but surely, Robert and Aaron’s secret affair is becoming public - and that’s dangerous for some, reveals Emmerdale’s Ryan Hawley...

Chas is in real danger from Robert, isn’t she?

“Yes. She tricks him into admitting he and Aaron are still seeing each other… Aaron’s gone missing on one of his runs and Robert and Chas [Lucy Pargeter] go out looking for him together. Chas tells Robert that Aaron [Danny Miller] is having this emotional difficulty and Robert says, ‘He’s all right when he’s with me, it’s because of you’. Chas then says, ‘So you are back on’ and then says that she’s going to tell Chrissie.”

But Robert plans to stop her…

“They’re out in the woods and he pleads with her, but can see he’s not getting anywhere. She walks off, thinking she has the upper hand and Robert, who’s at the end of his tether, sees a rock on the ground, picks it up and chases after Chas, who is none the wiser.”

Does he hit her?

“You’ll have to wait and see!”

We know Chas makes it back to the village…

“And Robert gets in touch with this guy, a very shady character, and orders him to bump Chas off and make it look like an accident.”

Would he really kill Aaron’s mum?

“He needs to tie up the loose ends and stop Chas but, during the day, various things make him question whether or not he’s doing the right thing. Chas then says that she has had a word with Aaron and won’t tell Chrissie [Louise Marwood]. At that point Robert has no need to kill Chas.”

So he calls off the hitman?

“He tries to, but can’t get through to him on the phone.”

Is Chas a goner?

“I can’t tell you. But I can say that these are some of the most tense scenes I have filmed on Emmerdale and the story is building into a big crescendo.”

Emmerdale’s Lucy Pargeter and Danny Miller tell TV Times about their relationship on and off screen...

How do you get on in real life?

Lucy: “I am very protective of him. When he first started he was quite young, so I tended to be like a mother hen. I am like that with everybody, sorting out scripts, making sure people know where everything is in the building, and helping them find somewhere to stay. I am an organiser. So, I do mother him and make sure he is OK and I am upset if he is unhappy.”

Danny: “I won’t say that Lucy is like a mother, as she might not like that. I’d say she is like my big sister. She is very supportive.”

What’s the secret behind your on-screen relationship?

Lucy: “Danny makes work a lot of fun. He does silly voices and mimics people, so I always know the day is going to be enjoyable, even if we are doing heavy scenes. But even though he messes around, the focus is always underneath and he takes the job seriously. He is very professional for a young lad.”

Danny: “It’s always refreshing working with Lucy. When Aaron first told Chas about Robert, she had to slap me and she did it for real which is against the rules really!

"People said ‘Wow, tears fell down your face after that slap’, but that wasn’t fake, she really cracked me with her right hand. There isn’t much in it between her and Pauline Quirke – she made my ears ring and Lucy nearly broke my jaw.”

You’re doing some running scenes together – do you run in real life?

Lucy: “My theory is that the only time a girl should run is if there is a sale on at Harvey Nicks. I don’t run. It’s not good for your boobs, knees or face. I would rather have it sucked out and nipped than go for an actual physical run.

"The scenes where I run are hilarious. I take photos, send them to Rudi [Lucy’s boyfriend Rudi Coleano] and say ‘Look, I am actually in workout gear.’ I don’t have to act looking exhausted; I am huffing and puffing after about four steps.”

Danny: “I used to run, but I stopped and started going to the gym instead. When Aaron really overdoes it, I tend to hold my breath and run up and down the street so I am really out of puff when the camera starts rolling. I hate it when actors are supposed to have done a 10-mile run, but they don’t even look tired.”

What do you make of the Aaron/Robert situation?

Lucy: “I think that Danny and Ryan Hawley are doing brilliantly. They are so electric on screen. Chas isn’t happy about it though. Aaron says it is off at the moment, but she suspects it is still on because he is acting very stressed.

“It was shocking when Brookside did the first lesbian kiss, but seeing two men kiss on screen isn’t surprising any more. I like the fact that we are seeing the vulnerable side of Aaron as he is with someone who could drop him like a stone. When I watch them on screen, I say ‘Don’t you dare be nasty to him!’ Heaven help Robert if Chas finds out he’s hurt her son.”

Danny: “I’m enjoying the drama. Aaron is in love with Robert and he’s reached a point where he is prepared to lie to his mum to have the relationship.

“Robert has said it will never be anything more than a fling, but Aaron would rather have that than nothing. The kissing scenes are very different. Both Ryan and I go into it knowing that we have to kiss the way we do for real – all that’s different is the gender. We don’t like to rehearse too much and try and keep the feeling for the actual take.”

How do you unwind after a heavy day at work?

Lucy: “Unwind? I don’t unwind. I get home at 8pm, my daughter Lola is already in bed, so I sort out the dogs, house etc, shove some food down my neck, learn some lines and go to bed early so that I can get up at 6am the next day. But I wouldn’t swap it for anything. I love Emmerdale – I always have and always will.”

Danny: "I have an hour-long drive back home to Manchester. I put on some music and try and forget about Aaron. Being in his head for 12 hours is long enough for one day!”

Should the pair be worried about Robert?

Lucy: “Chas is not bothered by him. She is quite ballsy and sees him as a person who she can take on. Robert might play the big man, but he is a coward. However, he has something up his sleeve for Chas.”

Danny: "You might see Robert go to extreme measures to avoid the truth coming out.”

What else can you tell us…?

Lucy: “Keep watching. The storyline has been brilliantly mapped out – it’s like a map of the underground and it all comes together cleverly.”

Danny: “There is plenty more to come. You’ll see Aaron push himself even more with the running. Robert tells Aaron he loves him, but does he really or is he using him…?”

Emmerdale’s Lucy Pargeter tells Soaplife how Chas is terrified by Aaron’s return. He’s still wanted by the police. But Chas has a plan to change that…

After two years hiding from the law in France, Chas’s son, Aaron, returns to Emmerdale tonight (Thursday). But it’s no time to bring out the bunting. Chas knows if the police catch him, he’ll go to jail for arson - even though Adam is the arsonist. “Chas is happy to see Aaron, but she’s also angry, shocked and confused. She can’t tell anyone where he is and she’s finding it stressful,” Lucy reveals to Soaplife…

So Chas didn’t know Aaron (Danny Miller) was coming home?

“No. She called Aaron to tell him Adam was in trouble, but he didn’t tell her he was coming back. She makes a call to his phone and, when she gets an English ring tone, she realises he’s in the UK.”

To help Adam (Adam Thomas)…

“Yes and she’s concerned that if Adam is involved in anything dodgy, and Aaron tries to help, he’ll get into more trouble. He’s on a slippery slope.”

But Aaron is troubled, isn’t he?

“Chas and Aaron are holed up in Moira’s [Natalie J Robb] barn when Aaron goes to change his clothes. Chas sees fresh scars where he’s self-harmed, which makes her remember how desperate and bitterly unhappy he was after his partner Jackson’s death.”

What does Chas want to do about her son?

“She asks Cain to go the police and tell the truth about Adam starting the fire. She tells Cain [Jeff Hordley] that if he doesn’t say something, then she will. She’s got the opportunity to get her son back and she wants to take it.”

What about James (Bill Ward)? Does she worry about how he’ll feel if Adam goes to prison?

“She’s only thinking of her own son. He’s more important than anybody else and she tells James that.”

How do you see Chas and Aaron’s relationship developing?

“They are never going to enjoy a typical mother-son relationship. Chas is over-protective and not a great role model. Although she is settling down a bit in her old age, it won’t be plain sailing. It’ll be great to see her mothering side try to come out, though.”

Emmerdale's Lucy Pargeter has revealed when James Barton finally confides in Chastity Dingle his deepest secret, she threatens to expose it.

James (Bill Ward) recently discovered he is is the biological father of Adam Barton, who he thought was his nephew, as a result of his secret affair with sister-in-law Moira Barton.

Moira is now with Chas's half-brother Cain Dingle and so when Chas finds out James's secret she threatens to tell Cain. On a drunken night out Chas and James play truth or dare and Chas reveals her deepest secret - that her son Aaron Livesy fled the village not because he torched the garage as everyone believes, but because he is covering for his mate Adam Barton, who really did it.

James then decides to tell her his secret, that he is Adam's real father.

Lucy revealed: "He opens up to her about Adam and she's shocked. And her first instinct is, 'Does Cain know?'

"She assumes he knows and when James says it's only Moira, myself and you that know she says, 'I'm sorry but I'm going to have to tell Cain. After everything that I've been through in the past year with my family - I was disowned by my family for keeping secrets. I have to tell Cain, it's not right.'

"Both James and Moira are desperate for her to keep her mouth shut - but will she?"

The actress also revealed that despite her reaction to James's secret, Chas is starting to fall for the farmer.

Lucy said: "She's kind of done it again, she's fallen quite rapidly for this new man in the village, so she is falling for him, stupidly, and rather quickly.

"She doesn't really want him to move in, but it's kind of by default really because he's got nowhere to stay, so she's like just move in here. It's not really her plan, but he does move in and then she kind of likes him around.

"I don't think she's thinking long term and she didn't want him to move in that quickly, but she likes having a man about the place."

Lucy Pargeter reveals to Soaplife how Chas finds herself at gun-toting Debbie's mercy in Emmerdale…and Debbie's not feeling merciful!

Does Chas still feel guilty about taking Cameron from Debbie?

"She feels guilty about how it affected Debbie and Sarah and the family in general. But I think the guilt about her and Cameron being together has gone; they’re quite a solid couple. She’s getting to the stage where she’s thinking enough is enough."

And then, suddenly, Debbie wants to make peace...

"She offers Chas a life to Zak and Lisa's house and Chas immediately thinks, ‘Hold on, what’s this about?’ But then she decides that she's willing to give this a go if it means they can start trying to be friends again."

But what it really means is Debbie taking Chas hostage and holding her at gunpoint!

"Chas thinks Debbie has completely lost the plot. But at first she doesn’t think she’ll use the gun. She thinks Debbie is just scaring her. Then Chas realises Debbie is very close to pulling the trigger. She looks into Debbie's eyes and sees she’s completely devoid of any emotion. Debbie’s blank."

Then Cain and Charity find them...

"They turn up but, in Chas’s eyes, things go from bad to worse – although I’m keeping back what actually happens. It does all have to come an end at some point, though - not that I’m saying that this is the absolute end!"

Brenda has crashed her car into a wall. Molly's not hurt and she narrowly misses Val - who's convinced she was trying to run her down. Well, Brenda did have that fling with Pollard and Val's sure she still secretly lusts after him. Or, says Val (again), Brenda's drunk and should be breathalysed. The truth is, Brenda is ill and when she collapses Bob calls an ambulance. It's starting to look very much like Brenda's giddy moments aren't due to the menopause and now Bob and Gennie are worried.

Chas is worried about Cameron's temper… Not so long ago, she saw him in a violent fury and ready to crack open Cain's head with an iron bar and now she sees him turn on Thomas when the lad has an accident working in the pub. Marlon sticks up for Thomas but Cameron is vicious, telling the boy he doesn't belong in Emmerdale. Chas is horrified and Thomas breaks down, saying with his father gone he needs to be near Jimmy.

Rachel wants to be near Sam - very, very near. She suggests to Sam that he has a sleepover - in her bed, and they're not going to be doing much sleeping!

*Hour episode*

Er, that kiss isn't very businesslike! Better not let Katie catch you, Declan! She's on her way home, you know. Oh, you don't know because you were too busy getting busy with Charity to hear Katie's phone message. And all this passion from a row! Declan has realised that Charity is trying to play him and is angry. He says some not very nice things, she says some horrible stuff, too – and then they're kissing! And then they're doing a lot more than kissing, on the sofa. And that's when Robbie phones to say Katie's on her way home. Typical! The one time Robbie tries to be helpful and no one hears him.

Now that Cain has his toothbrush in Moira's bathroom, he makes sure he gets to use it. Moira's happy, but Debbie's not. Any friend of Chas's is an enemy of hers and she warns Moira to stay out of her life. That's going to be tricky when Debbie's dad is Moira's life…

Bob would like Brenda to be more a part of his life and makes a sort of move on her (just how has this man had five wives???). But he's got competition: Bronte night Brian is back – and he wants to sweep Brenda off her feet.
