Just a week after South Park season 27 debuted on July 23, the long-running Comedy Central animated series is taking a week off, as South Park season 27 episode 2 is not airing on Wednesday, July 30. The good news is that this won’t be an extended hiatus.

The next new South Park episode will premiere on Wednesday, August 6, on Comedy Central, confirmed in a preview shared by the South Park YouTube channel. But fans can still watch South Park on Wednesday, July 30, as Comedy Central is airing a more than 12-hour block of the show starting at 10 am and going through 10:30 pm.

South Park drew headlines with its season 27 premiere as they took direct aim at President Trump, putting him in a romantic relationship with Satan and portraying him with small private parts. The preview for South Park season 27 episode 2 teases that they likely aren’t done with targeting the president. Watch right here:

How much, if any of that footage, will actually be in the next episode of South Park is TBD, as creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone famously finalize episodes in the days leading up to air so they can be as timely as possible with their jokes.

Part of the reason that South Park has drawn so many headlines recently has to do with Comedy Central’s parent company, Paramount. Prior to the South Park premiere Paramount was criticized for cancelling The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the no. 1 rated late night talk show, with some seeing it as capitulation to the Trump administration to help Paramount’s planned merger with Skydance Media, silencing Colbert, who has been a Trump critic; the merger was officially approved by the FCC on July 24. Though The Late Show will continue to be on air through May 2026, and Colbert has not held back on any Trump jokes since the cancellation.

South Park, meanwhile, had just signed a new five-year deal with Paramount prior to the show’s season 27 premiere, and have shared details on how they were able to get their Trump jokes into the first episode.

You can watch South Park basically all day on Comedy Central on July 30 if you have the cable channel (either through a traditional pay-TV provider or live TV streaming services like Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV or YouTube TV). Or you can stream any episode of South Park on-demand on Paramount Plus.

Again, South Park season 27 returns with its second episode on Wednesday, August 6, on Comedy Central.

Seems The Daily Show may be taking a day to celebrate its most recent Emmy victory. Following the comedy news program winning Outstanding Talk Series at the 2024 Emmys on Sunday, September 15, in Los Angeles, there is not slated to be a new episode of The Daily Show on Monday, September 16, at 11 pm ET/PT on Comedy Central.

According to TV listings, The Daily Show is not going to be airing at all on Comedy Central on September 16; instead, reruns of Family Guy are going to be shown at 11 pm ET/PT. But it appears to just be a one-day break, as it looks like The Daily Show will return with a new episode on Tuesday, September 17, at 11 pm ET/PT. There's been no official reason given for why the show is taking the night off (What to Watch reached out to The Daily Show reps for comment), but it would seem reasonable to take a day when the team would be traveling back from Los Angeles to New York after winning the Emmy.

There's another question skipping the Monday show raises, however: is Jon Stewart going to host an episode of The Daily Show this week? Stewart, who came back to the show he famously hosted for years for once-a-week stints to help cover the 2024 presidential election, has traditionally hosted the show on Monday before handing it off to others on The Daily Show team (Jordan Klepper, Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta and Desi Lydic) for the rest of the week. We also asked The Daily Show reps if Stewart would still host this week, but again have not gotten a response as of publication.

UPDATE (September 17): According to an official release from The Daily Show, Stewart is not hosting an episode the week of September 16-20. Instead, Ronny Chieng will host all episodes.

The Daily Show isn't the only late-night talk show that looks to be taking some time following the Emmys. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is not airing a new episode on September 16, nor is Late Night with Seth Meyers (both of those shows also film in New York). However some of the other big late-night shows are going to be new on September 16, including Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and After Midnight.

If you want to watch The Daily Show when it returns with new episodes later this week, you need to have access to Comedy Central either through a traditional pay-TV provider or a live TV streaming service (i.e. Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV and YouTube TV). You can also watch episodes on-demand on Paramount Plus.

Jon Stewart's return to The Daily Show has been must-watch TV, with many making sure they tune into his Monday night appearances on the Comedy Central news satire program. However, you won't be seeing Stewart this Monday, September 9, hosting The Daily Show. But fear not, he is still going to make his weekly appearance. Let us explain.

The Monday, September 9, episode of The Daily Show at 11 pm ET/PT on Comedy Central is going to see Jordan Klepper handle hosting duties, while Stewart is going to host the episode on Tuesday, September 10. The reason for the switch: the presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump is taking place on September 10.

Not only is Stewart switching up his days because of the debate, but the September 10 episode of The Daily Show is going to air live at 11 pm ET. This will allow Stewart to comment specifically about the events of the debate. For viewers not in the Eastern Time zone, The Daily Show will air on tape delay at its usual 11 pm time slot. 

While the debate will be a big part of the episode on September 10, Stewart will also have former Microsoft CEO and founder of USAFacts Steve Ballmer on as his guest. For the Monday, September 9 episode, Klepper is going to have historian, professor and author Yuval Noah Harari speak about their book Nexus: A Brief History of Information Networks from the Stone Age to AI.

The Daily Show isn't the only late-night program to change up its schedule to cover the debate. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is also going to air a live episode on Tuesday, September 10, at 11:35 pm ET (delayed for Pacific Time zone) to be able to comment on the debate.

In order to watch The Daily Show live when it airs, you need to have either a traditional pay-TV service that carries Comedy Central (most do) or a live TV streaming service that does, like Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV or YouTube TV. If you've cut the cord, episodes of The Daily Show are available to stream on-demand on Paramount Plus the day after they air. 

US news outlets have been focused on Chicago this week as the city hosts the Democratic National Convention. So have the news comedy outlets, including The Daily Show, which has been conducting its episodes this week from Chicago. That includes tonight, Thursday, August 22, as the DNC is set to conclude. But The Daily Show won't be airing at its usual 11 pm ET/PT time slot.

Instead, The Daily Show is going to be starting a half hour later, at 11:30 pm ET/PT and will be live for Eastern and Central Time Zones so that it can provide complete coverage of the final night of the DNC, when Vice President Kamala Harris is going to officially accept the Democratic nomination for president and give a speech.

And if you were wondering why Jon Stewart was not on the show on Monday, August 19, as has been his spot since he returned to help cover the election, that's because they are bringing him in to close out The Daily Show's convention coverage with the August 22 live episode.

In addition to being live, TV Guide has tonight's The Daily Show episode lasting for an hour. No guests have been announced at the time of publication, but you can keep an eye on The Daily Show's social media channels to see if they share who will be showing up ahead of the show.

The Daily Show has been hosting episodes from the Athenaeum Center for Thought & Culture in Chicago all week with its roster of correspondents taking turns emceeing the show and reporting from the convention. They're not the only late-night comedy show to do that: The Late Show With Stephen Colbert has been live all week from Chicago for special DNC coverage, which also continues on August 22.

To watch The Daily Show's live episode on August 22 you must have access to Comedy Central, either through a traditional pay-TV provider or a live TV streaming service like Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV or YouTube TV. If you aren't able to watch the show when it airs live, then it'll be available to stream on Paramount Plus starting Friday, August 23.

The return of Jon Stewart to The Daily Show during this year's election cycle has been a big draw for many, as the former host brought back his wit and personal insight into after years away from the Comedy Central news satire show. But if you're planning on tuning in to The Daily Show episode on Monday, August 5, you won't see Stewart, but there is a very good reason for that.

The Hollywood Reporter has shared that Stewart is not going to be hosting his usual Monday episode of The Daily Show because the host has tested positive COVID-19. Instead, The Daily Show correspondent Michael Kosta is set to handle the August 5 episode that is expected to feature author Roxane Gay and former The Daily Show correspondent and The Office star Ed Helms.

It is expected that Stewart will return to the show on Monday, August 12.

Stewart has been back on The Daily Show since February, as he agreed to host one day a week (mostly Mondays, save for special occasions) throughout the 2024 presidential election. For the other three episodes of the week (The Daily Show airs new episodes Monday through Thursday), current The Daily Show correspondents like Kosta, Ronny Chieng, Jordan Klepper and Desi Lydic have been rotating as the host.

Having the other Daily Show correspondents able to back up Stewart is a nice perk, especially as The Daily Show is one of the few late night talk shows currently airing new episodes. CBS's The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! are airing reruns for the second straight week as they take some summer breaks, while NBC's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon has been off the air entirely with the Olympics 2024 ongoing (likely not a coincidence Colbert and Kimmel took this same time period off).

The Daily Show is planning on having a presence at the upcoming Democratic National Convention in Chicago, taking place from Monday, August 19, to Thursday, August 22, with Stewart expected to host a live show on August 22.

Jon Stewart is returning to The Daily Show tonight, Monday, February 12, at 11 pm ET/PT on Comedy Central. Stewart, who had hosted The Daily Show for 16 years between 1999 and 2015, returns to the show on a once-per-week basis to help cover the 2024 US presidential election.

Stewart will host The Daily Show every Monday from now through the end of the 2024 election, which takes place on Tuesday, November 5. There's little doubt he will have plenty of headlines to sink his teeth into over that time.

Since Trevor Noah exited The Daily Show in September 2022, the nightly news satire has run through a myriad of guest hosts. Rather than settle on a new permanent host — at least for the time being — Comedy Central is rotating hosting duties between Stewart and its current roster of correspondents, which include Desi Lydic, Ronny Chieng and Michael Kosta.

For his part, after his departure from The Daily Show in 2015, Stewart's biggest projects were the 2020 political comedy movie Irresistible, starring Steve Carrell and Rose Byrne, which he wrote and directed, and Apple TV Plus' The Problem with Jon Stewart, which saw him return to his Daily Show roots by interviewing public figures and commentating on critical issues of the day. However, The Problem with Jon Stewart was canceled by Apple TV Plus in 2023.

Stewart has also popped up a number of times on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, as the two go way back with Colbert getting his start as a correspondent on The Daily Show. In fact, as part of The Late Show's special Super Bowl episode on February 11, the two reunited as Stewart prepared to make his move back to The Daily Show.

Looking for Valentine's-themed TV that isn't just rom-com reruns or bad date movies? Ventriloquist funnyman Jeff Dunham is back with his 12th stand-up comedy special, Jeff Dunham: I’m With Cupid, which will feature the comedian and his many puppet characters exploring all of the heart-testing hilarity of the modern dating scene. 

Dunham is known for utilizing puppets through his stand-up shows, with recurring characters like the retired and grumpy Walter, the beer-drinking redneck Bubba, the hyperactive, crazy-cute Peanut and José, a talking, sombrero-wearing jalapeño pepper on a stick. For his latest special, which was filmed at the Straz Center in Tampa, Florida, the comic will be introducing a new character inspired by the Greek god of love to ruminate on all things romance and relationships. 

Like several of Dunham's previous specials, including Arguing with Myself, Spark of Insanity, Controlled Chaos and All Over the Map, among others, Jeff Dunham: I’m With Cupid will air on Comedy Central. You can tune into the all-new, one-hour comedy special on Saturday, February 3 at 8pm Eastern on the cable network, which is available on most traditional cable TV providers.

During a recent appearance on WPRI 12's The Rhode Show, Dunham joked that if you hate Valentine's Day, you're really going to hate this newest special, which will be "stupid, goofy fun." And speaking of V-Day, Dunham showered some love on his famous puppet characters, like Walter, who accompanied him during the interview: "My 15 minutes of fame that has lasted so long, it's not because of the ventriloquism or because I'm a decent ventriloquist, it's because, like you say, [the viewers] love the characters."

And, of course, Walter had to put in his two cents on the special, quipping that the new stand-up routine was shot in Florida "because there's enough old folks in Florida to agree that love just never works out."

If you want to watch any episode of South Park from its first 25 seasons, US viewers are going to need a subscription to HBO Max, as the streaming service is the only one that has all of the episodes of the long-running series.

It's similar in the UK, with all past seasons of South Park being available in just one place, but since HBO Max is not available in the UK, they are instead on Paramount Plus.

How to watch South Park specials

There are a few places to watch a handful of South Park specials that have aired over the years. For instance, HBO Max is the streaming home for the documentary 6 Days to Air: The Making of South Park and the South ParQ Vaccination Special (at this time, it doesn’t look like either of these specials is available to stream in the UK). 

Meanwhile, the South Park: Post COVID and South Park: The Streaming Wars specials were exclusive for Paramount Plus.

How to watch South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut

Of course, South Park has also had a hit movie that fans of the series would probably like to know how to watch, 1999's South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. US audiences can stream the movie exclusively on Paramount Plus, while in the UK it is available on Prime Video. 

It’s hard to believe that we celebrated the 25th anniversary of South Park in 2022 and now season 26 is on the horizon. The long running Emmy and Peabody Award-winning series returns to Comedy Central with all new episodes of the hilariously irreverent animated series. And if you haven't checked out the South Park: The 25th Anniversary Concert it's available now on Paramount Plus.

Creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker signed a deal with MTV Entertainment Studios that will take the show 2027 and an unprecedented 30th season. The deal also includes more of the original streaming “event” shows made exclusively for Paramount Plus; some of the previous streaming events include South Park: The Streaming Wars and South Park: Post COVID.

After all these years it’s no surprise that Stone and Parker will be back to voice the characters that they brought to life over 25 years ago. Stone provides the voice for Kenny McCormick, Kyle Broflovski and Butters while Parker voices Eric Cartman, Stan Marsh and Stan’s father Randy. Stone and Parker also step in to voice other characters as needed. 

Other members of the voice cast include Adrien Beard as Tolkien Black, April Stewart as Sharon Marsh and Mona Marshall as Sheila Broflovski.

The teaser starts with a glowing sun over a green field full of cows, and then it jumps to poor Butters being subjected to a very unpleasant procedure of some kind. Poor kid, at least he's still humming...

How to watch South Park season 26

If you're in the US, you can watch South Park season 26 on Comedy Central, which is available through most cable TV packages. Though Comedy Central falls under the Paramount Plus banner, the show is not available to stream on the platform. To catch up on previous seasons of the series, you can find them on HBO Max.  

After seven years of making viewers laugh while keeping them informed of current events, Trevor Noah recently announced that he was parting ways with The Daily Show. Since being selected to officially fill in for former host Jon Stewart, he’s managed to place his own unique brand on the late-night show and has received multiple Emmy nominations for his work. 

Although at the time of publication Noah had not yet announced when his final airdate would be, The Daily Show fans and Hollywood personalities immediately started to think about who could serve as the new host of the series. Joining the number, we too began to contemplate who would naturally be the right fit for the role and developed a list of names. 

Here’s who we came up with. 

Jon Stewart

This may seem a bit unorthodox, but Jon Stewart would be a perfect choice. Not only has the comedian already had the hosting gig before, but as much as Noah has put his own impression on the series, The Daily Show is still very much synonymous with Stewart. 

Additionally, as of late, he’s been quite vocal about his political activism. Given the nature of The Daily Show as a platform that allows the hosts and contributors to advocate their own political opinions every now and then, this could be a good move for the comedian.

In short, Stewart once again having his own show would seem to be a win for him as he could amplify his opinions on a bigger stage, while also a win for Comedy Central if they’re hoping to recapture some of his loyal fanbase. 

Samantha Bee

If Samantha Bee picked up the hosting baton, it would be the definition of kismet. Longtime fans of the Comedy Central late-night show know that Bee was a reporter on the series for years. Her reign extended from 2003 to 2015, and she left when she landed her own series, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. Sadly, The Washington Post reported in the July of this year that her show’s home network TBS decided not to renew it. 

With all that being said, perhaps it's fate that she is now free to return to the program where many fans first came to know her. There’s something quite poetic about that narrative. 

Nicole Byer

Nicole Byer is a comedian with plenty of hosting experience under her belt. When it comes to competition series, she’s most recently served as host for Wipeout and Netflix’s Nailed It. Also, this year she hosted The 27th Annual Critics' Choice Awards alongside All American star Taye Diggs. 

Lastly, in terms of her late-night chops, she filled in for Jimmy Kimmel while he took a brief hiatus this year from Jimmy Kimmel Live! See for yourself what she’s capable of.  

Ronny Chieng

As the only one on this shortlist that is actively still associated with the show, perhaps many will see Chieng as the frontrunner to replace Noah. Besides starring in projects like Young Rock, Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Crazy Rich Asians, he’s been a correspondent on The Daily Show since 2015. Given his increasing acting profile in some of the most recent blockbuster films and his deep ties to the show, the WTW team also can’t rule him out as the next host. 

We should point out that his increasing presence in films could also be the very reason he doesn’t step in as host. Perhaps he prefers the freedom of starring in other things. 

Jerrod Carmichael

While he may not be a name that immediately comes to your mind in terms of the new replacement host, he should be. Carmichael is an Emmy-Award-winning comedian and his dry, at times political, humor would pair well with The Daily Show. For those still scratching their head with this choice, check out his opening SNL monologue that he performed back in April of this year.

Advertisers are the lifeblood of the magazine industry, the products featured in a specific publication are not plucked out of thin air. Joyce’s (Ophelia Lovibond) expectations and the reality of what Minx can attract don’t line up, however, which is another compromise she must make in order to get this fledgling project off the ground. 

The Minx pilot set up this world, taking great care to ensure it isn’t too sleazy while also recognizing the parameters of the adult magazine business. "Au revoir, le double dong" expands on this premise while reinforcing certain dynamics.

Joyce’s idealism is at odds with Doug’s (Jake Johnson) cynicism informed by his experience. This isn’t to say Joyce is naive about everything as she more than holds her own against the creepy older country club patrons that have been long been part of her world. 

It is men like club president Mr. Ross (Stephen Tobolowsky) who provide motivation in her desire to dismantle the patriarchal systems. He makes unsolicited comments about the bacon and pancakes on women’s plates in the dining room and is condescending when he references Joyce’s "rabble-rouser" antics. Experiencing wandering hands all over her body since she was 12 is something she has kept quiet until now. 

At the start of the episode, Joyce is giddy about the advertising pitch meetings she has been invited to attend. This is short-lived when she sees the candidates Doug has lined up. There is not a pantyhose or cosmetic company up for grabs. Doug is quick to point out that high-end brands do not purchase space in Bottom Dollar publications. 

Joyce cannot hide her disgust at the mocked-up sleazy and sexist ads that hang on these office walls; Lovibond is particularly adept at flashing an expression of horror throughout the episode. Meanwhile, Doug is thrilled sex toy purveyor Pleasure Garden (who have items like “Yum-derwear”) wants to buy space in bulk. The Minx art department has created a gallery of advertising horrors that you can't help but marvel at. 

The issue is the Pleasure Garden in-house advertising team is not used to targeting women and asks Bottom Dollar to "spec it for them." Unfortunately, the initial ideas they come up with either focus on the Vietnam War, body shaming statements or ridiculing single women. "These make me hate myself, and I love myself," Bambi (Jessica Lowe) remarks about the terrible suggestions. 

Doug is more than aware they need a female perspective, although it might not matter as Joyce has "harpooned a whale." The handsy Mr. Ross happens to have a successful cosmetic company in his business holdings and Joyce put her animosity aside for the sake of making a deal.

Joyce announces the country club's annual summer soiree is providing the backdrop for this pitch and Doug’s attendance is necessary as the sexist Mr. Ross won’t do business with Joyce alone. Doug ensures Bambi, Richie (Oscar Montoya) and Tina (Idara Victor) are on the guest list and this group makes quite the splash among the country club set. While most people are wearing an array of plaid, pastels and florals, the Bottom Dollar gang have borrowed their garments from the "rich and horny" wardrobe at work. It is another triumph from costume designer Beth Morgan, adding to the striking visuals of these contrasting worlds. 

While Joyce is characteristically flustered by their appearance, her sister Shelly (Lennon Parham) is delighted to meet the co-workers who are broadening Joyce’s horizons. The frustrated housewife is in awe of their sex positivity. There is a danger Shelly could become a cliche, but Parham’s charm and a subsequent confession avoid this trap. 

Later, when Shelly and Joyce are looking at dildos for ad inspiration, Shelly reveals she uses sex toys as she cannot climax without assistance. Amid the vulnerability, there is also a funny moment in which Shelly teases her sister that "it’s not very feminist" for her to need a man to experience sexual pleasure. 

Joyce is flustered by this level of sharing but it does lead to a breakthrough in the final scene when she takes one of the freebies and explores the horny side of the publication she is co-founding — she even tapes a photo of their centerfold above her record player to get the full Minx vibe.

With her hair all mussed up afterward, Joyce hits on a catchy advertising slogan and it's another case of taking a beat to accept there is more than one way to get her message out. At least the Pleasure Garden executives didn’t try and pull an off-books deal in return for buying ad space. 

Mr. Ross is a known creep, but Joyce is shocked when Doug tells her that a night with Bambi is a dealbreaker to his participation. Mr. Ross has given Doug details of his "secret f***pad" and Doug defers to Joyce with how to proceed. "This card is who these people really are," is a cold hard truth dished out by her new partner, and her fury toward the country club king boils over.

Confronting Mr. Ross and publicly spilling the truth about his hand on her ass when she was 12 only earns silence from the other members. When he makes a callous remark about her deceased father, Joyce punches him on the nose. Unfortunately, he is taking a bite of a shrimp at the time and it gets lodged in his throat. Bambi to the rescue! She does the Heimlich maneuver, but Bambi purposefully goes hard, which breaks three ribs in the process. One person who looks on in awe at Joyce is her ex, Glenn (Michael Angarano); it's clear this is not the last we have seen of him.

Second episodes typically re-establish the overall narrative and the important relationships, which Minx achieves — although some of the themes are unnecessarily hammered home. The Joyce and Shelly dynamic grows deeper while opening Joyce’s eyes with regard to female pleasure. At the office, Bambi is already seeing her work through the Minx message. This impact has only just begun. 

Comedy Central today announced that it's ordered two new seasons of the iconic Beavis and Butt-Head .

We'll let that sink in for a minute.

Show creator Mike Judge — who in 1993 unleashed the stay-at-home slackers and influenced an entire generation of kids who just didn't give a damn — will return as a writer and producer, and he'll continue to voice both characters.

"It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again," Judge said in a press release.

Judge, of course also is the creative force behind the more recent Silicon Valley on HBO, King of the Hill , and the films Office Space and Idiocracy , the latter of which all but predicted the chaos the see in the real world today.

The new seasons will be filled "with meta-themes relatable to both new and old fans – Gen X parents and their Gen Z kids."

"We are thrilled to be working with Mike Judge and the great team at 3 Arts again as we double down on Adult Animation at Comedy Central" Chris McCarthy, President of Entertainment & Youth Group at Comedy Central, said in a press release. "Beavis and Butt-Head were a defining voice of a generation, and we can't wait to watch as they navigate the treacherous waters of a world light-years from their own."

Beavis and Butt-Head was born in 1992 with a short film appearing on MTV's Liquid Television show. The original series spanned seven seasons, from March 1993 to November 1997, with a revival season in 2011, for some 252 total episodes.

No telling how the duo will fare given the cultural climate of 2020 and beyond — and the pair's beloved heavy-metal music isn't what it used to be, either.

But the slacker-stoner left in our adult selves is very curious to find out. No word yet on when to expect new content.
