To mark the end of the BBC daytime drama, which was first broadcast on 26 March 2000, there's a special afternoon of programmes dedicated to all things Doctors!

Following the Series Finale, a retrospective documentary, Doctors: A Celebration will air (2:35pm).

Narrated by Bharti Patel, who plays midwife Ruhma Carter, the documentary goes behind-the-scenes with the cast and crew as they prepare to film their final scenes.

Along the way, some of the most memorable storylines and characters are revisited from the past 24 years and over 4500 episodes!

With familiar faces, including original cast member Christopher Timothy, sharing their memories of life in Letherbridge.

Q&A with ELISABETH DERMOT WALSH as Dr Zara Carmichael

What is your character's favourite storyline?
"There are seriously too many storylines to choose a favourite. But for me, it’s got to be Zara’s 12-year relationship with Daniel Granger (played by Matthew Chambers) which included everything from domestic bliss to the soap version of Greek-tragedy level crises, including -multiple dalliances from both parties, a long fertility journey and several break ups.

As for Dr Zara Carmichael herself, she was a 'piece of work' and a joy to play. Somehow, she got away with behaving appallingly time and again and many viewers, especially women, told me that was what they envied; that she spoke her mind and didn’t suffer fools gladly. There was almost always a direct relationship between how well she was dressed and how badly she was behaved. Although many, many times she received her comeuppance by being, over the years, variously doused, squirted or drenched with water, mud, slurry, real ale, chocolate, bird poo, baby vomit, cream, red wine, pus, and more chocolate, to name but a few!"

What is your favourite Doctors memory?
"I think my favourite Doctors memory may be shooting an episode where The Mill Health Centre colleagues staged an am-dram production of A Christmas Carol. We were filming for what seemed like days in a ‘black box’ theatre location, where we lost all sense of time & reason. I remember laughing until my insides ached, specifically because the characters were all supposed to be taking themselves so seriously!"

What is it that was so special about Doctors?
"I will tell you what the fans tell me nearly every day when they stop me for a chat in the street. Letherbridge was ultimately a kind place. The characters were their friends, the stories were their gossip, the successes were their triumphs, and the tragedies were their sadnesses. You could put the kettle on after the lunchtime news and have a cup of tea with a story that would engage you, intrigue you, infuriate you, or simply entertain you and it would almost always be wrapped up by a quarter past two. But often too with a serial ‘cliffhanger’ to make you wonder what happens next?"

We want to see Dr Graham Elton get his comeuppance!
"Yes, he seems hell-bent on destroying everything that is good about the practice and removing anyone and everyone who stands in the way of him controlling the whole place. He has slow-burn revealed himself to be racist, homophobic, manipulative, self-aggrandising and so over-flowing with dinosaur-attitudes and micro-aggressions that are escalating into macro-aggressions that he threatens the very survival of The Mill. Where is Zara when you need her?"

What’s next for you?
"I’ve just filmed an episode of the Sister Boniface Mysteries where I had the joyful dilemma of playing twin sisters! A diva movie star visiting Great Slaughter to play “The Minx” (a Cat-Woman style super villain in a Batman-style 1960s TV Show) and her down-trodden sister; assistant dogsbody, stand-in and stunt woman. Inevitably, murder ensues, and the divine Sister Boniface takes on the case. It was, I admit, utterly delicious and a perfect antidote to 15 years of playing Dr Zara Carmichael!"

Q&A with KIA PEGG as Scarlett Kiernan

What has been your favourite storyline?
"As a standalone episode, the one where Scarlett bumps into an old friend who turns out to be dying is my all-time favourite. I loved that script; I loved the guest artists and I think that episode is probably the best work I’ve ever done.

My favourite storyline was Scarlett’s cost of living storyline. It was such a long running story, that it gave me the opportunity to do something totally new as an actor and meant I always had to be thinking. Playing a character with a big secret is always fun, and I also enjoyed showing a different side to Scarlett once the pressure of that time period was over for her. It was an absolute treat to get to work with Simon Lowe (who played Scarlett's dad Brian) on that story, we got to do some great scenes together."

What is your favourite Doctors memory?
"Any day I filmed with Ian Midlane (Al) and Adrian Lewis Morgan (Jimmi). I was going to narrow it down, but the truth is probably all my best days heavily feature those two. The Cotswolds two-parter was lots of fun because it was so different, but I have never laughed as much at work as when we filmed a follow up episode to that in The Mill.

Another highlight for me was Scarlett learning to drive- ironic because after four tests, I’m still trying in real life. Every day I got to go out in the car with Chris Walker (Rob) was a good one! He’s the most incredible actor and the nicest guy, so getting to work with him so much was brilliant. I learnt something every single time."

What is it that was so special about Doctors?
"Now that it is gone, there is nowhere left quite like it. I’ve been working a long time and I’ve never before been in a place as hectic and yet as warm. I have never worked on a set that had so much to shoot in so little time and yet remain upbeat and happy.

The cast and crew enjoyed each other’s company. We worked together to make it work, even when the days should have been impossible. The truth is that I think the only way for people to truly understand what was so special about Doctors, was for them to have been a part of it. Whether that was making it, like us, or our loyal audience who stuck with it for twenty years. The magic of that place was reflected on screen and the people that could watch it, know what a loss it is."

What will you miss the most about playing Scarlett?
"I loved playing that character; from her hair and makeup to her costumes, right down to my controversial decision to always have my feet up on the furniture. I feel like there was still so much more to find out about her and a part of me is sad that we won’t get that chance. "

What’s next for you?
"Currently, I’m presenting children’s TV- which is wildly different to playing Scarlett Kiernan but lots of fun. I actually kept up presenting on the weekends while shooting Doctors, which in hindsight was a bit crazy- but is now paying off as I get to do it a bit more full time."

Q&A with ROSS MCLAREN as Luca McIntyre

What has been your favourite storyline?
"I really enjoyed working on the HIV awareness storyline. It’s so important that people have accurate information about HIV, especially regarding diagnosis and the advances in modern medicine that have transformed life for those living with it. I learned so much myself, and it felt rewarding to contribute to raising awareness."

What is your favourite memory from Doctors?
"My favourite memory has to be my first day on set. I was so nervous, but walking into the iconic Mill and seeing the Doctors team in action was incredible. The efficiency, warmth, and talent of everyone around me made it unforgettable."

What will you miss the most?
"The regularity of the work. Acting is an incredibly rewarding field, but it’s also tough, with constant auditions and the unpredictability of it all. Being part of a long-running drama like Doctors offered a rare sense of stability, almost like a 9-to-5 in the acting world!"

What can you tell us about the finale episode?
"I wish I could tell you more! Let’s just say we go out with a bang, and you absolutely don’t want to miss it!"

What’s next for you?
"Who knows? That’s the exciting (and sometimes daunting) part of an actor’s life! Thankfully, like a lot of actors, I have a side hustle. I run a photography business, YellowBellyPhoto, which helps fulfil my creative side and keeps me busy between acting gigs."

To mark the end of the long-running BBC daytime drama, Doctors fans are in for a treat with an afternoon of special programmes on Thursday 14 November.

Including this medical themed episode of the daytime gameshow, Bargain Hunt (12:15pm).

Doctors stars Dex Lee (Bear), Kia Pegg (Scarlett) and Dido Miles (Emma) reunite with former co-star Sarah Moyle (Valerie) to battle it out at an antiques fair in Nottingham!

As our photos show, Dex and Kia are on the red team and will be going head-to-head with Dido and Sarah on the blue team.

If you haven't seen Bargain Hunt before, the aim of the game is to purchase antiques, which will earn the team a profit when they are later sold at auction.

Antique experts, Stephanie Connell and Gary Pe, are on hand to offer advice and guidance on the chosen items.

But ultimately, it's up to the team members to decide whether they reckon they've found prized items to turn into cash at auction.

With 60 minutes on the clock, our two teams of Doctors stars must race around an antiques fair at Southwell Racecourse and select their items.

Dex and Kia quickly spot a stall selling prosthetic limbs (!), while Dido and Sarah think about cooking-up a profit with an old pub sign advertising pies.

But which of our Letherbridge favourites will strike it lucky at auction?

ALSO happening on this episode of Bargain Hunt, presenter Natasha Raskin Sharp has an appointment to view a collection of medical items from the Victorian period.

She speaks to Dr Jenni Hunt from the Old Operating Theatre Museum in London, and views items including an early anaesthetic mask plus a tool for making a hole in the skull!

It’s a sad time for Doctors fans because, on Thursday, November 14, the staff of The Mill will close the doors of the surgery for the final time after 24 years of helping Letherbridge’s poorly locals. 

In an exclusive interview with What To Watch, Chris Walker, who has played dependable cop Rob Hollins since 2009, and who created one of soap’s most popular couples with former co-star Jan Pearson - Rob’s now late wife Karen - tells us why it was hard to say goodbye…

Doctors is sadly coming to an end after more than two decades on our screens, leaving viewers wondering what they will be watching in the daytime soap's 2pm slot on BBC One. 

The medical soap, set in the fictional West Midlands town of Letherbridge, follows the lives of NHS staff at a doctor's surgery and has often been praised for tackling hard-hitting topics. 

But now, the soap is coming to an end after being axed by the BBC following rising costs in TV production, and the final episode will air on BBC One on Thursday, November 14 at 2pm. 

However, the replacement lined up for the afternoon slot might surprise some people, because it isn't a soap or drama that will be airing. Instead, afternoon viewers will be tuning into new episodes of Scam Interceptors, a BAFTA-winning factual TV series about internet fraud.

The show, hosted by Rav Wilding and Nick Stapleton, focuses on closing down live scams as they happen with the help of their ethical hacker, Jim Browning, and cutting-edge technology. Jim and the team monitor and intervene in scams that are in progress, alerting the victims to what is happening and stopping them from handing over their hard-earned savings to online crooks.

While Scam Interceptors might be quite a change from Doctors, the show won the Daytime award for best daytime series at the 2024 British Academy Television Awards and has received high praise from viewers since it started back in 2022.

Scam Interceptors returns to BBC One on Monday, November 18 at 2pm, and the first episode sees the team helping a woman at risk of losing thousands of pounds to a scam call centre in north-west India - and luckily the fraudster slips up, revealing the name of a UK accomplice. 

It might not be Doctors, but the high-octane chase as the scams are stopped is set to have you hooked all the same.

It's time for Zara Carmichael (played by Elisabeth Dermot Walsh) to get back into full-on boss lady mode to try and save The Mill from DISASTER on today's LAST-EVER episode of Doctors! (2:00pm - see our TV Guide for listings).

As the long-running BBC daytime drama comes to an end after 24 years on air, the surgery staff have a FINAL showdown with Graham Elton (Alex Avery)!

Graham was supposed to have been a saving grace when the GP came on board as a new practice partner earlier in the year.

But unfortunately, Graham has turned out to be an unpleasant bigot who has managed to get on the WRONG side of all the existing staff!

Although Zara is not feeling great since her recent life-changing health diagnosis, she is determined to do some damage control before Graham causes everyone to QUIT!

Graham is annoyed when he finds The Mill unexpectedly abandoned.

WHERE is everyone?

He's unaware that Zara has called the staff to an EMERGENCY meeting at The Icon, including dismissed employees, nurse Luca McIntyre (Ross McLaren) and GP Michelle Walton (Joanna Bending).

Zara is determined to get Graham OUT!

But without his practice partner money, The Mill could face CLOSURE!

However, Zara and her team have dealt with plenty of questionable characters in the past.

And you know what they say, there's strength in numbers!

Can the surgery staff unite to send Graham packing one way or another?

It's Scarlett Kiernan's (Kia Pegg) birthday.

But the receptionist is in no mood to celebrate after recent events.

Campus security guard, Barry Biglow (David Perks), stops by to wish Scarlett a happy birthday.

She confides in Barry that she is thinking it's time for her to move on...

Sensing that Scarlett is feeling down-in-the-dumps, Jimmi Clay (Adrian Lewis Morgan) surprises her with a birthday cake.

Unfortunately, the cake has the WRONG age and Scarlett's name is spelled incorrectly!

Will Scarlett take this as yet another sign that it's time for her to call it QUITS!

Meanwhile, midwife Ruhma Carter (Bharti Patel) arrives at a rundown block of flats to visit pregnant Bev Dartnall (Tupele Dorgu, who played factory worker Kelly Crabtree on Coronation Street).

Ruhma is met by an agitated man, Davey Timms (Patrick Knowles), who claims to be the unborn baby's dad.

Davey offers to take Ruhma to see Bev.

But things take a DANGEROUS turn when Davey and Ruhma arrive at an abandoned building and a scream is heard from inside...

Sid Vere (played by Ashley Rice) is fed-up with boss Graham Elton (Alex Avery) on Doctors (2:00pm - see our TV Guide for listings).

Sid initially got on well with Graham, after the new practice partner showed an interest in expanding the Minor Surgery Unit.

However, after being challenged over his commitment to his duties at The Mill, Sid is the latest member of staff wanting to keep their distance from awful Graham!

On today's penultimate episode of the long-running BBC daytime drama, Sid is on shift with the Rapid Response team.

Sid is called to the assistance of Sylvie Mackie (played by ex-The Bill and Emmerdale star Trudie Goodwin), who has taken a tumble while emptying her bin...

Sylvie's neighbour, Artie Simkins (Timothy West, who was Shirley and Tina's dad Stan Carter on EastEnders), calls for an ambulance.

Sid is in a bad mood after his confrontation with Graham.

So he's not impressed when Sylvie refuses to go to hospital for a full examination.

When Sylvie's phone rings in the kitchen, she asks Sid to answer it.

But he gets an earful from Sylvie's daughter, Della Scott (Ellie Beaven, who played teenager Sarah Addis on BBC One drama, Down To Earth), who is unhappy that a stranger is answering her mum's phone!

However, it's a different story when Della arrives in person and meets Sid...

Noticing the chemistry between them, Sylvie encourages them to exchange phone numbers!

Could the start of a NEW romance be just what Sid needs to take his mind off the troubled times at The Mill?

Just when romance was starting to blossom between Rob Hollins (Chris Walker) and Ruhma Carter (Bharti Patel), it looks like things may have been jeopardised by the desperate actions of Maggie Lynch!

Rob and Ruhma keep thinking about calling the other but get distracted by their busy jobs.

Michelle Walton (Joanna Bending) is curious when she notices midwife Ruhma screen a phone call from Rob.

When Michelle teases Ruhma about her "new love", Ruhma is clearly flustered!

Unable to speak to Ruhma over the phone, policeman Rob decides to track her down in person at St Phil's Hospital.

Kind-hearted policeman Rob took pity on Maggie, a childhood friend of his late wife Karen, after her home was flooded.

However, Maggie's presence is about to jeopardise Rob's new romance with midwife Ruhma Carter (Bharti Patel)...

But next up, it looks like Al Haskey (Ian Midlane) and Jimmi Clay (Adrian Lewis Morgan) might call it QUITS too!

Emma Reid (Dido Miles) is alarmed that the surgery is on the verge of falling apart.

And it's ALL the fault of Graham...

Rosie Colton's (Janice Connolly) passion for environmental causes leads the surgery receptionist to join a protest against a water company.

Rosie gets involved after meeting Livi Sedgewick (Murphee Thompson) and her sister Clara (Nadine Ivy), whose boyfriend Tom almost died from E.coli poisoning after swimming in a polluted local reservoir.

Livi and Clara intend to take their fight direct to Myles Klein (Daniel Gosling), the Chairman of Magna Water company.

But Rosie becomes alarmed when she realises how far the sisters are prepared to go to make a point about Magna pumping raw sewage into the reservoir.

And it's not long before the Police arrive at the scene of the protest...

Graham agreed not to involve the Police, as long as nurse Luca was sacked from his job!

On today's episode of the BBC daytime drama, we catch-up with Luca at a private hospital.

Fellow nurse Ryan Starkey (Ashley Emerson) introduces Luca to private patient, Francesca Bartlett (Selina Giles, from the Netflix series Greenhouse Academy).

Luca catches the smell of alcohol on Francesca's breath but doesn't say anything.

But later, Luca is alarmed when Ryan reports that Francesca has made a complaint, accusing him of giving her a massive bruise!

Luca knows he did all the medical procedures correctly.

But it's his word against paying patient Francesca.

Is more TROUBLE coming Luca's way?

Zara Carmichael (Elisabeth Dermot Walsh) has another appointment to see her private doctor, Charlotte Heaversedge (Jennifer Hennessy).

Zara is determined to find out WHAT is causing her mystery condition.

Having ruled everything else out, Charlotte makes an official diagnosis...

At the hospital, it's all a bit awkward when Zara crosses paths with Luca.

They briefly discuss what happened back at The Mill.

But neither Zara or Luca are aware of the latest CHAOS bossman Graham has been causing at the surgery...

Meanwhile, Rob Hollins (Chris Walker) has an unexpected houseguest in the shape of his late wife Karen's childhood friend, Maggie Lynch (Alison Belbin).

Rob enters the kitchen to discover Maggie has cooked him breakfast and made an enormous mess!

The policeman drops some hints about Maggie soon returning home to her own place.

However, Maggie unexpectedly bursts into tears and reveals the REAL reason she doesn't want to go back home...

Rob Hollins (played by Chris Walker) and Ruhma Carter (Bharti Patel) are heading off on their first OFFICIAL date on today's episode of Doctors! (2:00pm - see our TV Guide for listings).

Policeman Rob and midwife Ruhma have been friends for years.

But they're both now nervous about the unexpected romance that appears to be brewing between them!

Ruhma has planned a SURPRISE day for them, foraging out in nature with a guide, Ash Greenwood (Will Bliss).

Unfortunately, the day doesn't get off to a good start when Rob discovers they are foraging at the very place where he and daughter Imogen scattered the ashes of his late wife, Karen...

Ruhma feels mortified by her mistake.

Is their date already in jeopardy?

Meanwhile, Ash sends Rob and Ruhma to the kitchen to start cooking with the foraging ingredients they have found.

They start with some pine needle tea, and the scent reminds Ruhma of her late husband, Heston...

But for some reason, Ash seems distracted.

His phone pings with a message, causing Ash to storm out of the room UPSET!

WHAT is going on?

Back at The Mill, the scene could be set for a SHOWDOWN!

Al Haskey (Ian Midlane) is definitely not happy with practice partner, Graham Elton (Alex Avery).

And surgery business manager, Bear Sylvester (Dex Lee), has started to realise that Graham is undermining him while he's running things during the absence of Zara Carmichael (Elisabeth Dermot Walsh).

Meanwhile, Michelle Walton (Joanna Bending) decides to invite Graham out for dinner, determined to find out if he is still the man she once knew...

In the present, school teacher, Monica McGuire (Rosanna Miles), explains to Al how sexist language and sexual harassment has increased in schools.

This leads to Al investigating the potential consequences of toxic masculinity for the latest episode of his podcast.

The episode flashbacks to the case of teenager Emily Parker (Naomi Preston-Low), who is being hassled by her boyfriend, James Gough (Leo Corbitt).

James appears to be calling the shots in the relationship and threatens Emily about ever cheating on him.

He seems to enjoy taunting her about "getting a reputation" around school.

When a concerned Monica tries to check-in on the couple, James rudely turns and walks away...

In the present, Monica explains to Al about the signs of control and emotional manipulation.

They listen to a voice note exchanged between James and his classmate, Cesar Torres (Zanda Emlano).

James boasts to Cesar that he knows exactly the right way to treat females.

But how will Emily react when James casually suggests they could make some money if she agrees to "show herself on camera"!

James is not happy when Emily argues back.

Realising she needs to remove herself from the heated situation, Emily makes an excuse and leaves.

But when angry James then starts to send her nasty text messages, upset Emily decides it's time to confide in Monica...

After becoming fixated with a masculine influencer's social media profile, James STEALS his mum's credit card so he can pay for premium content from the influencer.

James is determined to get back together with Emily.

But when the arrogant lad sees Emily and Cesar walking together outside school, he SNAPS in a jealous rage...

Graham Elton (played by Alex Avery) appears to be making the most of being the boss while Zara Carmichael (Elisabeth Dermot Walsh) is absent from The Mill on Doctors (2:00pm - see our TV Guide for listings).

On today's episode of the BBC daytime drama, Graham welcomes new arrival, Pamela Hurst (Vanessa Havell).

Business manager Bear Sylvester (Dex Lee) is annoyed that Graham has gone ahead and hired a new staff member without consulting him first.

When Pamela enters the Staff Room later, Al Haskey (Ian Midlane) and Jimmi Clay (Adrian Lewis Morgan) hope she'll reveal some gossip about Graham.

However, although Pamela has worked with Graham in the past, she is not prepared to be unprofessional and reveal any SECRETS!

But in the meantime, Emma Reid (Dido Miles) is hoping that Michelle Walton (Joanna Bending) may be the one in a position to dish the dirt on Graham.

WHY does Michelle continue to believe in Graham after the BIG fallout between Graham and nurse Luca McIntyre (Ross McLaren)?

Rosie Colton (Janice Connolly) limps into the surgery and reveals that she walked all the way to work!

Receptionist Rosie is taking her sustainability role very seriously and has created a transport survey for patients.

However, Bear starts to worry that Rosie is taking the sustainability role too seriously, especially if it means jeopardising her own health and wellbeing.

But after some encouraging words from Jimmi, Rosie is all fired-up and has no intention of quitting the role!

Simon Godfrey (Andrew Dunn, who previously played Janice Battersby's plumber boyfriend Roger on Coronation Street) is a man under pressure.

His wife Alice (Caroline Gruber) has MS and is stressed-out about how they are going to pay a builder.

Simon tries to comfort Alice and promises he will sort everything.

But there's something that Simon hasn't told Alice...

Meanwhile, Simon gets hassled by neighbour Jacqui Steele (Hannah Brackstone-Brown) about getting involved with the Sustainable Streets Committee and his commitment to the environment.

It all gets a bit much for Simon, leading to an accident that brings both him and Jacqui to The Mill!

Seeing how overwhelmed with life he is, Rosie attempts to help Simon...

Scarlett Kiernan (played by Kia Pegg) is annoyed on today's episode of Doctors (2:00pm - see our TV Guide for listings).

Surgery receptionist Scarlett reckons nurse Luca McIntyre (Ross McLaren) should make a formal complaint against pratice partner, Graham Elton (Alex Avery).

Scarlett and Luca meet-up at the Icon for coffee to catch-up after what has happened.

But when their colleagues, Bear Sylvester (Dex Lee) and Sid Vere (Ashley Rice), join them, things get tense...

Scarlett makes it clear she doesn't think the fellas did enough to stand-up for Luca after how Graham behaved.

Things are frosty between Zara Carmichael (Elisabeth Dermot Walsh) and Emma Reid (Dido Miles) after their clash at the hospital.

So when Emma decides to visit Zara at home to try and make amends, she does not get a warm welcome from their colleague, Michelle Walton (Joanna Bending).

Michelle is annoyed that Emma had a go at Zara while she's not in a great state.

Emma wants to apologise to Zara who is feeling utterly exhausted.

Can the women all put their differences aside and unite to help Zara, who is becoming increasingly worried about what her future holds...

Rob Hollins (Chris Walker) is called to a house after a teenage boy, Ben Phillips (Joe Freeman), is found in a terrible state.

Ben is taken to hospital by paramedics and policeman Rob warns his parents, Becca (Emma Manton) and Micah (Oliver Jackson), that the hospital will want to run some tests and flush-out Ben's system.

Rob notices Becca has an unusual reaction...

Rob wants to ask Becca some further questions about Ben, but senses the mum wants him to leave...

Micah can't believe something like this would happen to their son out-of-the-blue.

But Becca is adamant that Ben has been struggling with mood swings and intrusive thoughts for months.

So WHY has Becca kept the truth about their son from her own husband?

But when Ruhma asks Jessie for further information, she lies...

After Ruhma has trouble finding a medical record for Jessie, and realises she and Adam have both given her conflicting information, Ruhma becomes suspicious...

Receptionist Rosie is on a roll with her sustainability plans and arranges for her nephew, Mickey Morton (Josef Hyland), to assess The Mill for installing solar panels.

Mickey and his colleague, Carlos O'Donnell (Shaun Johnson) climb onto the roof to investigate.

But their timing is terrible as Zara Carmichael (Elisabeth Dermot Walsh), Suni Bulsara (Rahul Arya) and Bear Sylvester (Dex Lee) are having an EMERGENCY meeting to discuss the upcoming quality control inspection.

So they are not impressed when they are interrupted by noisy sounds from the roof above!

At the Police Station, Michelle Walton (Joanna Bending) is on an FME shift when she is asked to examine Erika Chapman (Claire Lams).

Erika is 29 weeks pregnant and complaining of stomach pains.

When Michelle suggests calling Erika's husband, Jason (Graeme Hawley, who played John Stape on Coronation Street), she shuts down the conversation.

Meanwhile at St Phil's Hospital, a man called Shaun Morris (Joshua Elridge-Smith) lies in intensive care.

One of his patients has been waiting a year for a hip replacement operation and is in agony.

Jimmi rings up the consultant and loses his temper with their assistant, Meg Barr (Kerrie Taylor, from The Bay and Where The Heart Is).

Later, Jimmi decides to confront Meg and consultant, David Fisher-Thomas (Rupert Holliday Evans), in person.

But will Jimmi just make the situation worse?

The surgery receptionist has stepped-up to volunteer as as a Sustainability Lead at The Mill, after business manager Bear Sylvester (Dex Lee) appealed to staff.

Rosie can certainly do with a new project to focus her attention on, after all the recent drama she went through with her grandson, Max and his mum Lizzie.

The family fallout distracted Rosie from her duties at the surgery.

On today's episode of the BBC daytime drama, Rosie attends a sustainability training course run by Meadow Sharpland (Zina Badran).

The course is all about how to be sustainable in all aspects of both personal and professional life.

But Rosie soon starts to feel out-of-her-depth surrounded by the younger attendees, who all seem to know so much on the subject already.

Rosie gets chatting with the ambitious Cerys Higham (Emma Stonelake), who is determined to prove herself.

At the same time, mum Sheryl Dorsey (Janet Etuk) is run ragged working three jobs and barely has any time for her teenage son, Zak (Jordan Williamson).

The news that no Doctors fan wanted to hear arrived back in October last year when the BBC announced that the daytime soap would end after nearly 25 years on our screens - and we now have an air date and storylines for the final ever episode.

The BAFTA-winning show, which is loved by fans around the country, first aired in 2000, but in 2023 it was revealed that the soap was no longer affordable within the broadcaster's daytime budget.

The British medical soap, set in the fictional West Midlands town of Letherbridge, follows the lives of NHS staff at a doctor's surgery, bringing us drama not only from their time at work but also their personal lives. 

Over the years writers for the soap have been praised for tackling tricky topics and the show has seen a huge number of familiar faces coming and going from the cast. But, what is there to know about the soap as it comes to a close? Here's everything we know about Doctors coming to an end... 

When is Doctors' last ever episode? 

Filming for the final batch of episodes ended in March 2024, with the last ever episode set to air on BBC One on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 2pm. 

TV bosses originally said that the finale would air in December this year, however, it has now been confirmed that the show will end earlier than originally expected.

There will be a big celebration on BBC One for the final day of Doctors with a special episode of Bargain Hunt at 12.15pm on BBC One featuring cast members and a retrospective documentary, Doctors: A Celebration, that will look back at life in Letherbridge and airs at 2.35pm on BBC One.

What happens in the last ever episode of Doctors? 

There is drama in the final epsiode as the surgery staff confronts Graham Elton (Alex Avery) for his evil ways. Graham was supposed to have been a saving grace when the GP came on board as a new practice partner earlier in the year. But unfortunately, Graham has turned out to be an unpleasant bigot who has managed to get on the wrong side of all the existing staff!

Although Zara is not feeling great since her recent life-changing health diagnosis, she is determined to do some damage control before Graham causes everyone to quit!

Graham is annoyed when he finds The Mill unexpectedly abandoned, and little does he know Zara has called the staff to an emergency meeting at The Icon, including dismissed employees, nurse Luca McIntyre (Ross McLaren) and GP Michelle Walton (Joanna Bending).

Zara is determined to get Graham out, but without his practice partner money, The Mill could face closure. Can the surgery staff unite to send Graham packing one way or another?

Why has Doctors been taken off BBC One? 

The soap has been cancelled following rising costs in TV production. 

Fans were thrilled in February 2022 when BBC bosses announced that the soap would be moving to a 7pm primetime slot on BBC2 after Holby City came to an end. However, the show didn't bring in the viewers the BBC had hoped for and it returned to its daytime slot just weeks later. 

It was announced in October 2023 that the soap would be axed. A BBC statement said at the time: "We have taken the very difficult decision to bring daytime drama Doctors to an end. With super inflation in drama production, the cost of the programme has increased significantly, and further investment is also now required to refurbish the site where the show is made or to relocate it to another home.

"With a flat licence fee, the BBC’s funding challenges mean we have to make tough choices in order to deliver greater value to audiences.

"We would like to thank all the Doctors cast and crew who have been involved in the show since 2000. We know the crucial role Doctors has played in nurturing talent. We will work to develop new opportunities to support skills in scripted programming and we are working closely with BBC Studios to give it the finale it deserves."

How long has Doctors been on the BBC? 

Doctors first aired on the BBC on March 26, 2000 and we have been treated to 24 series of the soap and more than 4,500 episodes over the years. 

Initially, only 41 episodes of the soap were ordered, but due to the positive reception, the BBC ordered it as a continuing drama.

But Mandy reports that nothing more happened between her and Rick the night before.

After she went home alone, Rick began talking about going for a night swim in the local reservoir...

Alarm bells ring for Emma, as she knows that Rick can't swim...

Meanwhile, Al visits the nightclub where Rick was last seen and put his credit card behind the bar.

A barman, Isaac Fermenski (Shaka Kalokoh), remembers seeing Rick with Mandy dancing the night away.

Isaac tells Al that Rick definitely didn't seem drunk when he left the nightclub and seemed to know exactly where he was going...

In the present day, a gloomy Emma tells Al that she had a feeling that something AWFUL had happened.

Al admits that none of them could have predicted what was going to happen...

But just as Emma is getting ready for the night out at home, she receives an unexpected visitor in the shape of her favourite cousin, Rick Holland (James Daffern)!

So he invites himself to stay at Emma's house!

Emma happily invites Rick along on the night out.

Which is just as well, since when they arrive at the bar Emma discovers NO ONE else is coming apart from Al's mate, Bill Burgess (Nigel Boyle)!

Luckily, things start looking-up and Rick catches the eye of Mandy Malone (Rosemary Boyle).

When Emma and Al decide to call it a night, Rick seems happy to stay on at the bar with Mandy...

The next morning, Emma notices Rick's bed has not been slept in.

Even more worrying, Emma receives a phone call reporting that Rick never arrived for his job interview...

Emma starts to become alarmed when she is unable to contact Rick.

She can only conclude that he left the bar with Mandy.

But a visit to Mandy's house reveals that Rick was a perfect gentleman at the end of the evening, and put her in a taxi to go home alone.

But Patricia is nervous about making contact with her estranged son, Andrew (Jared Garfield, who previously played Nathan Nightingale on Hollyoaks).

Scarlett decides to take matters into her own hands and call Andrew.

But WHY is he is so abrupt and seemingly uninterested in his mum's well-being?

Luca has filed an official complaint against new boss Graham.

So now it's up to business manager Bear Sylvester (Dex Lee) to mediate between the two men.

Unfortunately, neither Luca or Graham will admit any wrong doing.

Luca is further annoyed when Graham casually suggests he is overreacting to some harmless banter in the workplace.

Emma Reid (Dido Miles) has already suggested Luca could have a workplace chaperone to act as a witness if Graham starts on Luca again.

But could their working relationship now be beyond repair?

Rob Hollins (Chris Walker) investigates after a restaurant owner, Les Craven (Ewan Bailey), is found stabbed to death!

Sous chefs, Freya Thomas (Sophie Ford) and Andriy Melnyk (Alex Batareanu) are both brought in for questioning at Letherbridge Police Station.

It seems Les was a ruthless boss, working them to the bone in the restaurant kitchen.

Is it possible that either Freya or Andriy SNAPPED and stabbed their hated boss?

Janine is worried about her dad, Stuart Backley (Anthony Taylor), who has gone missing...

It turns out that Stuart is an old friend of Jimmi's.

But the clock is ticking to find missing Stuart, who is due to have a kidney transplant the next day...

Jimmi and Sasha report Stuart as a missing person to policeman Rob Hollins (Chris Walker).

Jimmi later notices that Stuart has posted some photos on social media of some strange shapes.

WHAT are the strange shapes?

Could they be a clue to Stuart's whereabouts?

Scarlett starts hitting a troublesome kitchen tap with a pan!

But the noise interrupts neighbour Holly Lewin's (Jessica Chisnall) latest LIVE stream!

When Holly comes to investigate the disturbance, she's amused to see Scarlett attempting a DIY repair job.

Holly turns the webcam on an embarrassed Scarlett and the ladies end-up asking the LIVE audience for plumbing tips on how to fix the tap!

Will the plumbing themed broadcast be an unexpected success with the audience?

Holly Lewin (Jessica Chisnall) is grateful to Scarlett Kiernan's (Kia Pegg) help while she's been feeling under the weather.

Holly wants to persuade reluctant Scarlett to join her LIVE stream again.

But as far as Scarlett is concerned, that was a one-time deal while Holly was ill.

However, when Scarlett later walks past Holly's room and hears her broadcasting to her fans again, will she consider another team-up?

Luca McIntyre (Ross McLaren) is not happy when the nurse finds out he'll be working with Graham Elton (Alex Avery) in the new homeless clinic at the surgery.

Luca agrees to get involved as long as he can invite his friend, Skye Williams (Shane Convery), to visit The Mill.

Skye is interested in becoming a Healthcare Assistant.

Luca shows Skye the Minor Surgery Unit, which fascinates them.

But how will Graham get along with Skye, given his previous clash with Luca over the correct use of pronouns?

Scarlett Kiernan (Kia Pegg) is relaxing at home when neighbour, Holly Lewin (Jessica Chisnall), knocks on her door.

Holly is still under the weather and has almost lost her voice.

Scarlett is not keen to appear on camera.

But when Holly offers Scarlett half of the profits from the LIVE stream, will she change her mind and get involved?

Rob Hollins (Chris Walker) deals with a teenage lad, Harri Mishra (Rahul Pattni from BBC's A Good Girl's Guide To Murder), who has been arrested for stealing bread.

Social worker Simon Stanford (Elexi Walker) arrives at the Police Station when Harri refuses to tell them what happened.

Or give them a contact number for his foster carer, Kevin Hill (James Bradshaw, from ITV's Endeavour).

But alarm bells start to ring, when Simone eventually comes face-to-face with Kevin.

Kevin is a blast-from-the-past for Simone and she tries to warn Rob that Harri could be in a dangerous foster placement...

It looks like Graham is ready to start asserting a little more authority around The Mill!

Next on Graham's list, is a meeting with Sid Vere (Ashley Rice) to discuss ideas on how to improve and expand the MSU.

Will Sid be happy to get onboard with Graham's input?

Al Haskey (Ian Midlane) is at the Campus Surgery, where he gets caught-in-the-middle between two squabbling sisters, Sally Wills (Jane Brooker) and Marjorie Dunbar (Liz Crowther).

Sally is not feeling well and insists she needs to see a doctor.

After Sally describes her symptoms, Al wonders if she has taken "something" which might have contributed to her dizzy state.

Sally is outraged when her sister Marjorie reveals she spiked their afternoon tea with some mushrooms!

Majorie hoped her normally very serious sibling might enjoy chilling-out for a few hours.

But Sally doesn't share Marjorie's enlightened vision and accuses her sister of trying to POISON her!!

But she's annoyed when Luca won't prescribe antibiotics, after explaining that they won't help with a viral infection.

Holly tells Scarlett that she's worried she'll lose her followers if she can't do the money-making LIVE stream.

Especially as she now has a fancy new flat to pay the rent on.

Can Scarlett find a way to help? 

Suni Bulsara (Rahul Arya) bumps into teenager, Luke Masters (Callum Balmforth), outside St Phil's Hospital.

Luke is rummaging through a bin, looking for something to eat.

But suddenly, hospital employee Rochelle Cook (Kate Duchene) appears and chases Luke off!

Later, Suni discovers Luke's rucksack stored in a cleaning cupboard and realises something is going on...

But when Jimmi suggests seeking treatment at an eating disorder unit, Hayden appears resistant...

Kirsty fills Zara in about Graham's concerning behaviour and micro-aggressions.

So will Zara listen when Kirsty speaks out against the new man in charge?

Ruhma Carter (Bharti Patel) is out for a home visit to see pregnant teenager, Leah Drake (Grace Wylde), and her partner, Benny Renn (Charles Humphreys).

While examining Leah, midwife Ruhma notices four mobile phones in the flat.

Leah casually explains away the multiple phones.

But when Ruhma is leaving, a lad knocks on the door and gives Benny some cash.

Is something dodgy going on?

Back at the surgery, Ruhma tells Suni Bulsara (Rahul Arya) about her worries.

He suggests she calls the Council to report it.

It's not long before Sharon Maguire (Gemma Layton), a Tenancy Enforcement Officer, is on the case.

Something is not right.

But despite Ruhma and Sharon's attempts to help, both Leah and Benny quickly try to send their visitors packing!

Jimmi Clay (Adrian Lewis Morgan) is working on an FME shift at the Police Station when he recognises Gabriel Rowe (Dempsey Bovell).

Gabriel has spent the night in a police cell after being involved in a fight.

But WHAT is the past connection between Jimmi and Gabriel?

Meanwhile, Gabriel's dad, Billy Rowe (Brian Bovell), is looking after his terminally-ill wife, Bernadette (Valerie Murray).

Bernadette wants to know if Gabriel is coming to visit...

Elise seems more concerned about what her fiance is going to think when he finds how his son, Aristotle Dellas (Matthew Mori), is being affected by Talulah's behaviour.

However, Talulah unexpectedly receives support from Ari, who encourages her to see a doctor.

At the Icon, Rob updates Ruhma about Jamal being reunited with his family.

As the friends laugh and chat, they are seen by Zara Carmichael (Elisabeth Dermot Walsh) and Suni Bulsara (Rahul Arya), who have arrived for a working lunch.

Zara jumps to the conclusion that Ruhma and Rob are on an official date, and tells Suni not to stare at "the couple"!

Back at The Mill, Zara questions midwife Ruhma about her "date" with Rob.

How will Ruhma react?

All is not good between Luca McIntyre (Ross McLaren) and Graham Elton (Alex Avery).

Luca tells receptionist Scarlett Kiernan (Kia Pegg) about what happened during his meeting with Graham.

Luca has a plan to teach new boss Graham a lesson... and he wants Scarlett's help!

Meanwhile, receptionst Kirsty Millar (Kiruna Stamell) is preoccupied after her own meeting with Graham.

WHAT is going on with Kirsty?

Michelle Walton (Joanna Bending) sees patient, Jerry Smithson (Paul David-Gough), about his bad back.

Michelle warns Jerry not to overexert himself or do any heavy lifting at the bakery where he works.

Or he could make his medical problem worse.

However, as the bakery boss, Jerry has responsibilities.

And soon manages to involve his co-workers, Ginny Stuart (Me'Sha Bryan) and Tony Bell (Ryan Stevens), when he tells a number of lies.

When Michelle visits the bakery, will the GP get to the bottom of what's going on?

At the Campus Surgery, Zara Carmichael (Elisabeth Dermot Walsh) sees student Xander Spannagel (George Renshaw) about his anxiety problem.

WHAT has got Xander on edge?

At the same time, University lecturer Mary Bradbury (Zoe Harrison) discovers that student Xander has been chosen as the winner of a poetry competition!

But WHY doesn't Xander want to discuss the competition?

Later that day, Xander approaches maintenance man, Georgie Stanton (Max Ferguson).

Xander looks like he wants to talk about something with Georgie but can't bring himself to say what's on his mind...

During a procedure, Amy opens up to Sid about meeting cute charity worker, Felix Shaw (Cameron Tharmartnam).

The only problem is, shy Amy lied and pretended she was her cool neighbour Freya in order to impress Felix!

Sid tries to encourage Amy to be herself and be honest with Felix.

Can she bring herself to tell the truth when worried Felix comes looking for "Freya" at The Mill?

Things don't get off to a good start, when Jamal is so nervous that he can't even look Rob in the eye.

But it's going to be a learning lesson for policeman Rob, who needs to be aware of Jamal's cultural needs as a Muslim.

Rob does his best to comfort Jamal but takes a misstep when he accidentally interrupts the lad in the middle of his prayers...

Bear Sylvester (Dex Lee) has been working on a new project, teaching folks how to do blood pressure readings.

At a local barbershop in Letherbridge, Bear meets with young barber, JJ Bailey (Razak Osman), and asks him how the blood pressure trial is going?

But suddenly, JJ is no longer committed to the trial and makes excuses for not having the time to get checked.

There's a blast-from-the-past on today's episode of Doctors (1:45pm - see our TV Guide for listings) when Brendan 'Mac' McGuire (played by original cast member Christopher Timothy) returns to The Mill!

Long-time fans of the BBC daytime drama will remember that Mac was one of the original doctors on duty at the surgery when the series first aired in March 2000.

He later left Letherbridge and moved to Ireland after the break-up of his marriage to Julia Parsons (played by Diane Keen).

So what is Mac doing back in Letherbridge again after all these years?

Gracie claims she has never smoked weed.

When PC Dyson interviews mum and daughter, Dawn unexpectedly claims that Gracie was buying the drugs for her!

Dawn confesses she is battling cancer and is in constant pain.

Errol's daughter, Patricia Harris (Simone Saunders), tells Bear she's thought about tracking down Clinton but hasn't dared find out what happened between the long-time friends.

After putting in a phone call to his mum, Bear is inspired to try and repair the fallout between Errol and Clinton.

But will a 999 EMERGENCY put the possible reunion in peril?
