The second installment Emily in Paris season 4 is here, but if like me, you have binged the latest batch of episodes in no time at all, you're probably wondering what you should watch next to fill the void. Well, we have got you covered! 

After browsing my Netflix recommended shows list, I found This Time Next Year, a romcom that came out earlier this year starring none other than Lucian Laviscount - yes the very same actor who plays Emily Cooper's love interest, Alfie, only this time he is playing the lead in this easy-to-watch movie. 

In This Time Next Year, Lucian plays a handsome and successful character called Quinn Hamilton who meets chaotic Minnie Cooper (Sophie Cookson) by chance on New Year's Eve, and they quickly work out they were born in London on New Year's Day, one minute apart, in the same hospital, 30 years before. 

However the pair have very different lives, Quinn has grown up to be a successful businessman with money in the bank, whereas Minnie is struggling to keep her own pie-making business afloat and has a disastrous love life. However, the pair have an instant connection, and it's not just their shared birthday that keeps bringing them back together. Saying more would give too much away, and I'll be honest, if you are looking for a movie with unexpected plot twists then this one probably isn't for you! But even with its predictable story, the characters are so loveable and make the movie so watchable - just like our beloved Emily in Paris. 

One other thing to note about This Time Next Year is its star-studded cast. Honestly, it is like a who's who to famous faces. 

Not only does Lucian star alongside Sophie Cookson, but we also have Golda Rosheuvel of Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte fame as Quinn's mother, Monica Dolan from The Theif, His Wife And The Canoe and Mr Bates and the Post Office, Anita Dobson, Mandip Gill and john Hannah to name but a few! You will be star-spotting for the whole hour and 55 minutes! 

So, if you are looking for an easy watch as the autumnal nights draw in - especially if you are missing Emily in Paris - then you need to give this movie a try... we promise you won't regret it!

Following the sensational success of Emily in Paris season 4, we now have the exciting news that the wait for Emily in Paris season 5 is almost over, as a release date has finally been announced.

According to Netflix, Emily in Paris Season 4 ranked number 1 on the Netflix Global Top 10 when it premiered in August. In addition to that, it had 19.9M views in its first four days, reaching the Top 10 in 93 countries - so it's welcome news to everyone that we will get to see what happens next with Emily and her new beau Marcello.

“We’re thrilled with the incredible response to Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth season to continue Emily’s adventures!” creator Darren Star told Tudum. "This season is a Tale of Two Cities. Rome and Paris. Straddling both, Emily takes love and life to the next level.”

Season 4 saw Emily's love life hit a major setback when she ended things with Gabriel. But after her former flame Alfie appeared to have moved on, Emily was soon swept off her feet by a new love interest.

We saw her spark up a romance with handsome Italian fashion heir, Marcello, and then move into an Italian apartment to open a Rome office for Agence Grateau. But, don't worry, that doesn’t mean the name of the show is changing. “Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome,” says creator Darren Star. “It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome.”

The official synopsis for the new series reads: "Now the head of Agence Grateau Rome, Emily faces professional and romantic challenges as she adapts to life in a new city. But just as everything falls into place, a work idea backfires, and the fallout cascades into heartbreak and career setbacks. Seeking stability, Emily leans into her French lifestyle, until a big secret threatens one of her closest relationships. Tackling conflict with honesty, Emily emerges with deeper connections, renewed clarity, and a readiness to embrace new possibilities."

Of course, Emily in Paris wouldn't be complete without, well, Emily, so it is a given that Lily Collins will return. Eugenio Franceschini will also be back as Emily’s new Italian beau, Marcello.

Also returning are Ashley Park as Emily's BFF Mindy, Lucas Bravo as her love interest Gabriel, Lucien Laviscount as her former flame, Alfie, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as her glamorous boss, Sylvie, along with Samuel Arnold and Bruno Gouery as her co-workers Julien and Luc.

William Abadie (Antoine Lambert), Thalia Besson (Genevieve), Paul Forman (Nico), Arnaud Binard (Laurent G), Minnie Driver (Princess Jane), Bryan Greenberg (Jake), and  Michèle Laroque (Yvette) are also making up the cast.

What happened at the end of Emily in Paris season 4?

Season 4 was jam-packed. From Alfie moving on with a new girlfriend and Camille announcing she is adopting a baby, to Mindy missing out on Eurovision only to land herself a place on the judging panel for Chinese Popstar, season 4 had it all.

But when it came to Emily's love life, things were far from plain sailing as usual... after breaking up with Gabriel because of the huge baby/Camille drama, Emily set her sights on single life for a while. However, it wasn't long before she was swept off her feet by Italian fashion heir, Marcello and in a happy twist of fate, this new romance led to new beginnings in her career too when Sylvie announced that she was setting up a new Agence Grateau office in Roma and she wanted Emily to run it.

Before she could worry about her life back in Paris, Emily fell in love with her Italian apartment, and was equally enamored with her first guest: Marcello, who was ready with his Vespa to take her around her new home. But, while this fresh start seemed exactly what Emily needed after leaving her messy love life behind in Paris... little did she know, that Gabriel had heard from Mindy about Emily's new European adventure and was heading to Rome to declare his undying love. Is he too late?

We've made it, ami! Emily in Paris season 4 episode 10 finishes off the fourth season of the Netflix dramedy and, as has become a bit of a tradition with this show — it was created by Darren Star, after all — the finale ep packs in plenty of surprises for Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) and Co. 

Will Emily reunite with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) or continue her newfound romance with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini)? Will she return to the City of Lights or does Rome now have her heart? And what about BFF Mindy (Ashley Park) and her big Eurovision dreams? Or boss Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) and her marriage to Laurent? 

There's a lot to get through in the last episode of season four, so andiamo! 

Searching for love in Solitano

We pick up pretty much right where we left off: Marcello is still angry with Emily (he won't even answer her texts) and Emily enraged at Sylvie for coming to Rome and getting business in the way of things. Just because Sylvie has a vendetta against JVMA and wants to kill the Umberto Muratori acquisition doesn't mean Emily does — she simply cares about Marcello. Em declares she's going to leave Rome and head to Solitano to find him. 

She eventually does, but first, she finds his mother, Antonia (Anna Galiena), the head of the Muratori cashmere company. She warmly welcomes the girl her son can't stop talking about and soon Marcello himself arrives. Emily assures him yet again her reasons for coming to Rome were purely romantic, not professional, and together they stroll the streets of his hometown before having a big communal lunch for one of the company's beloved workers.  

After acquainting herself with his world, Emily admits she is uneasy about the JVMA acquisition: "This place and what your family has created is so special." However, despite his mother's protectiveness of the brand, Marcello wants Umberto Muratori on the same level as household names like Prada and Gucci. With Antonia eavesdropping from the next room, Emily tells him the Muratori famiglia can't trust JVMA, but offers to set up a meeting with Agence Grateau, saying she's doing so out of care and concern. Marcello doesn't want to hear it though; saying it's a mistake for her to come to Solitano, he offers to get someone to take her back to Rome.

Sylvie gets a taste of la dolce vita

Meanwhile, Sylvie spends her Italian trip mixing a little business and pleasure herself. Showing up to the set of a car commercial (starring the iconic Debi Mazar!), Sylvie meets up with an old paramour: Giancarlo (Raoul Bova), a Roman commercial director who used to be Sylvie's professor. 

Being back in Rome has Sylvie feeling like her old creative self,  apparently that extends to her relationship status. With Laurent still away in Saint Tropez, Sylvie takes the opportunity to get more than a little friendly with Giancarlo, who she confesses is the only man Laurent has ever been jealous of. By the episode's end, her hubby texts her that he's back in Paris and misses her. Does she still feel the same? 

Make way for Mindy!

While in Solitano, Emily gets a panicked call from Mindy: not only has she broken up with Nico (Paul Forman) but now he's retaliated by getting her disqualified from Eurovision, using "Mon Soleil" in a sunscreen commercial and therefore breaking the song contest's commercial-use rules. When she hears Emily's romantic weekend got way less romantic once Sylvie crashed the party, she says she's crashing, too, booking an afternoon flight to Rome. 

After her disappointing trip to Solitano, Emily finds her bestie feasting on room service back at the hotel. They commiserate over gelato and roam the streets when Emily inspires Mindy with her talk of how the ancient city has endured for thousands of years. Stealing the seat of a street pianist, Mindy completes and performs a ballad about the beautiful ruins of a relationship, drawing a big crowd. 

One of those onlookers apparently took video of that piazza performance, because Mindy wakes up to her song going absolutely viral on TikTok. She gets a DM from Chinese Popstar that they want her back, but this time as a judge, and they want her to perform the new song. "This is even better than Eurovision!" Mindy celebrates, before booking her return trip to Paris. "Emily, I've been redeemed!" 

A favor from an old friend

The next morning, Emily gets a call from Marcello — Antonia had overheard their conversation and is curious to hear Agence Grateau's pitch. The only problem? The agency doesn't have an office in Rome, until Emily lies and says they do. She informs Sylvie who, though excited about the Muratori news, realizes she has 24 hours to prep a presentation and set up an entire Italian office.

She seeks reinforcement in the form of Giorgio Barbieri (Rupert Everett), a former pal of hers who owns a global interior design firm and just happens to have a pretty spectacular office in Rome. She convinces him to lend her the space and even temporarily replace the Giorgio Barbiere Design sign with an Agence Grateau one. 

Sylvie also calls in Julien (Samuel Arnold) and Luc (Bruno Gouery) to fly right over from France for the meeting. Together, Sylvie, Emily and the monsieurs gather at the makeshift office to meet with Marcello and Antonio. Their campaign wants to highlight all of the things that make Umberto Muratori special: family, joy, community. But Antonia isn't convinced. She knows this is the office of Giorgio Barbiere — like Sylvie, she was friendly with Giorgio herself back in the day. 

But Sylvie assures Antonia they have something else in common: what they do is out of love, not work. Antonia admits they do need the money and can't be precious about the company anymore, so she agrees to give Agence Grateau six months to market the company. For his part, Marcello is not happy with the proceedings, still believing Emilly really was there for business and not him all along. 

Gabriel is finally seeing stars

While the Agence Grateau team is away, Geneviève (Thalia Besson) is back to manning the telephones at the office. She gets a call that Gabriel's restaurant is finally receiving a Michelin star, for real this time. She excitedly rushes over to the restaurant to tell him and declares they need to celebrate that night. He's upset Emily isn't the one to tell him; the news she's in Rome visiting Marcello is another blow. But he agrees to toast the occasion with Gen that evening. 

That night, Gabriel is cracking open bottles and congratulating the collective efforts of his team as well as Antoine (William Abadie) and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) when a wine-happy Geneviève comes up and gets a little too handsy with the chef. He pulls her aside and tells her he doesn't want to give her the wrong idea — she's his neighbor, friend and a work colleague but he doesn't want anything more. She looks upset at first but as he walks away, her face turns almost mischievous. What exactly is she planning? 

Gabriel then steals into the kitchen to emotionally leave a voicemail to Emily, telling her about the star and declaring his gratitude to her "for everything." 

Emily in Rome... forever?

The celebrations continue with Giorgio throwing a party to commemorate the new partnership between Agence Grateau and Umberto Muratori. Emily, though, isn't in the party mood since Marcello isn't there to be with her. But the Italian Stallion does end up coming to make amends. She has to return to Paris the next day but he wants to make the most of their last night in Italy together. 

After saying goodbye to him at the hotel the next morning, and assuring more Roman holidays await, Emily gets Gabriel's voicemail and rushes to breakfast with the Agence Grateau team to tell them the good news. But Sylvie has an even bigger announcement: they're officially opening a Roman office and they need someone to run it, and she wants that someone to be Emily. She'll set up a temporary apartment for her and Emily can have her belongings sent over — "no time to waste," she proclaims.

Emily calls Mindy with the news. The latter says that once she's back from filming Chinese Popstar in Shanghai, she'll jet back to Rome to visit her BFF. Later the day, Mindy runs into Gabriel, Antoine and Alfie still up from the night before at the restaurant. Alfie declares they're already planning on expanding the concept and Mindy jokes they should choose Rome, what with Emily moving there. 

Gabriel is dejected hearing the news. He gets some advice from a surprising source: Alfie, who tells him to not let his own pride and misunderstandings "get in the way of the greatest girl in the world." His feelings crystallize when he receives a voicemail back from Emily, in his native French, telling him how proud she is and how he deserves "all this and more." He asks Mindy where exactly in Rome Emily is.

Back in Italy, Emily is in love with her Italian apartment, and equally enamored with her first guest: Marcello, who's ready with his Vespa to take her around her new home. He promises she'll be happy in Rome. "I'm already happy," she tells him, jumping on the back of the scooter and looking molto happy indeed.

Forget Emily in Paris — say ciao to Emily in Italy! Yes, that long-awaited setting switch-up finally happens in Emily in Paris season 4 episode 9, with Signora Cooper (Lily Collins) trading the City of Lights for the Eternal City.

After all of the grief that Paris and its residents have been giving Emily of late, from Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) in her personal life to Geneviève (Thalia Besson) in her professional one, we can't blame the mademoiselle for wanting to say a brief goodbye to Paris' arrondissements for a little Roman holiday.

As you might've guessed, Emily's new flirty Italian friend Marcello Muratori (Eugenio Franceschini) might be part of what brings her to Italy's capital city. And while her visit is bellissima, it's not without its fair share of drama. Here's what went down. 

To Roma! Or, uh, Kraków?

Between the persistent texts from Marcello, the encouragement from Mindy (Ashley Park) and the fact Emily has a new unwanted neighbor — yes, apparently Gabriel spilled the news about Camille's empty apartment during the Bavazza party and Geneviève oh-so-conveniently snapped the unit up — Em decides to go against her nature and ask Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) for a few vacation days. (Speaking of Camille, Emily finally runs into her during a client meeting at the office. Camille updates her that she has found a new apartment: one with room for an art studio and a nursery, as she's planning to adopt a baby. Though both are regretful about the mess with Gabriel, Emily is truly happy for her.)

Back to Italy: rather than admit she's going to Roma to visit Marcello, whom Sylvie is clearly desperate to court as a new client, Emily lies and say she's heading to Kraków, Poland, which hilariously just happens to be Luc's favorite city in all of Europe. 

Emily nearly gets away with the white lie, too, immediately hopping on the back of Marcello's Vespa to enjoy all of the ancient sights, meet his old friends like Gianni (Flavio Furno), romantically throw coins into the Trevi Fountain and feast on bowls of pasta and Aperol spritzes. It's going so well that Marcello invites her to come meet his mother and sisters at their home in Solitano the next day.

However, the jig is up when Emily runs into one of the Bavazza reps while she and Marcello are canoodling on the Spanish Steps. The rep posts an Instagram of the three of them, which Geneviève tells the Agence Grateau team about (all while making herself plenty comfortable at Emily's desk, mind you). Sylvie is upset Emily didn't tell her that she'd be with Marcello, even more so when Julien (Samuel Arnold) spills that JVMA was courting Umberto Muratori for an acquisition while he was working there. Seething, Sylvie storms back to her office to strategize. 

When in Rome, party!

Marcello invites Emily to a party thrown by his friends, which ends up being a rooftop rager. ("Just a few friends getting together, huh?" Emily jokes.) As they dance and kiss, those scenes are intercut with ones of Gabriel attending a housewarming party for Geneviève, whom he helped with moving boxes earlier. 

Gen's fête is full of young people smoking and playing beer pong, in which the hostess encourages Gabriel to participate. A little liquored up, she plants a bisou on the French chef — but based on his surprised smile, he doesn't seem to mind. 

Au revoir to Mindy and Nico?

Between the scandal involving his father and his aims at the CEO desk at JVMA, Nicolas de Léon (Paul Forman) has had a stressful fourth season. And things get even worse when a gossipy new Paris Match article drops surrounding the supposed hot-and-heavy relationship between Mindy and her bandmate Benoît (Kevin Dias). Though he assures his older brother that he's close to securing Umberto Muratori, and therefore should be promoted to JVMA's head honcho, his bro says he should never have allowed the family name to get wrapped up in the Mindy and Benoît fiasco. 

Later, at dinner with Mindy, he's clearly upset about the article. "It just could not be at a worse time for me," he tells her. "All anyone can talk about is my girlfriend and some loser in Paris Match or singing naked at the Crazy Horse." He says her actions are damaging his career and believes it's only going to get worse when Eurovision begins. 

Nico tells her he wants her to drop out of the song competition, assuring her he'll hook her up with his friends in the entertainment industry instead, but Mindy is devastated. "You sound just like him... my father," she says in tears. "He didn't give a sh*t about what I wanted." When he asks her to choose between him or her music career, she tearfully gets up and leaves him at the table. 

Sylvie makes a surprise cameo

The morning that Emily is supposed to meet with Marcello to take off for Solitano, she gets an unexpected visitor outside her hotel: Sylvie. When Marcello arrives, Sylvie tells him she wants to discuss what a marketing firm could do for his company. He's instantly upset: "Is this why you came to Rome? You wanted a meeting?" he asks Emily, incredulous. Emily proclaims she knew nothing about it but when Sylvie says they should all discuss it over breakfast, Marcello leaves.

Heartbroken, Emily asks why Sylvie would just turn up and ruin things for her. "This is bigger than you Emily. We need to talk, you don't know the whole story," Sylvie warns. "If you care about him, you'll listen to me." Cliffhanger!

Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) has made a new match — and we're not just talking about polo. Yes, after their sweet Megève encounter, the mademoiselle is reunited with her mystery mountain man in Emily in Paris season 4 episode 8. 

Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) ends up being far more than the humble Italian goatherder he initially paints himself as, but will the "Italian Stallion" prove to be a real-deal contender for Emily's heart? Let's get into the episode!

A horse of a different color

Emily and Mindy (Ashley Park) are attending a polo match to cheer on Mindy's beau Nico (Paul Forman). (Sidenote: exactly what season is it supposed to be in the Emily in Paris world? Last episode was New Year's and now it's warm enough for short-sleeved equestrian action, except it's only been a few days storyline-wise. D'accord.)

While there, Emily recognizes Marcello, who is an old friend of Nico's from the London School of Economics. The flirtatious vibes are there and with everything feeling super-awkward between Emily and Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) — not helped in the slightest by his cozying up to Geneviève (Thalia Besson) — Emily leans into the attentions of the handsome Italian uomo. Looks like Em is officially getting back on the horse post-break-up with Gabriel. 

One element of that romantic drama is done, for now at least: the next day as Emily is leaving her apartment, she sees that Camille's unit is empty with even Gabriel not knowing where she moved to. Is the love triangle finally dunzo?

Emily's got some stiff competition

Not so fast! At Agence Grateau, Emily tries to fish for details about Geneviève's wine-fueled night with Gabriel at his restaurant following the TV shoot. Though Gen assures that nothing unprofessional happened, Em is quick to remind her to maintain boundaries with their clients. 

After a chilly greeting from Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), Geneviève is worried she's overstaying her welcome at her apartment, especially since her dad Laurent is still in Saint Tropez. She asks Emily if she knows of any spare rooms available. Though Camille's unit is clearly up for grabs at the moment, Ms. Cooper surely doesn't want Geneviève living right across the hall from Gabriel, so she plays dumb. 

Later, during a pitch meeting with the Bavazza coffee team, Emily scores a win when she suggests they serve espresso martinis at their event later. But then Geneviève butts in with the idea of having Gabriel included in the event. Though Julien (Samuel Arnold) congratulates Gen for boldly getting involved while still an assistant, Emily is unsurprisingly not pleased, telling Gen she should have run that pitch by her before mentioning it to the client. 

Nico and Benoît are neck and neck

Speaking of competition, it looks like Mindy is still being pulled between her fidelity to Nico and her feelings for bandmate Benoît (Kevin Dias). During a photoshoot for Eurovision, the photographer tells the band they need to "give voters a story," but it doesn't matter if that story is true. Playing off "Mon Soleil," the story they craft revolves around the chemistry between Mindy and Benoît. Poor Étienne (Jin Xuan Mao) isn't even in the picture.

Benoît also helps Mindy pre-record her vocals for her Crazy Horse cabaret debut, so no one will notice she's lip-syncing "when Hansel and Gretel pop out." However, when the time for the performance arrives, the audio track isn't working, resulting in Mindy having to improvise, with some much-appreciated assistance from Emily backstage: she sings "Oops!…I Did It Again" live but every time she needs to show her chest to the audience Em throws another accessory for her to humorously cover up, adding a campy element to the show. 

After the performance, Emily and Benoît are backstage to congratulate Mindy on her successful show, as is Nico, who initially wasn't going to attend but decided to surprise her with his support. Nico is uneasy about Benoît's regular presence in Mindy's life, but she assures him it's only about the music. That's not what Benoît told Emily on the way out, saying he found someone great in Mindy.

Marcello finishes in first

After their encounter at the polo match, Marcello sends Emily a little gift to her office: a very fancy cashmere scarf courtesy of his very fancy cashmere company, Umberto Muratori. Even Sylvie is impressed, saying the brand makes the best cashmere in all of Europe. 

The gift also comes with Marcello's phone number, which Emily calls up after her night at Crazy Horse. Together, they stroll around Paris talking until dawn. She invites him to the Bavazzo party later that evening, but he's set to fly home to Rome. "We'll always have Paris," Emily jokes.

At the Bavazza shindig, Emily chats with Gabriel, who is there as a guest of the brand. "I know that things have been awkward between us, but I really don't want them to be," she tells him. But he thinks it's better for them to have some space and time alone to figure out what they really want. 

Enter Marcello, who interrupts their conversation with the surprise that he moved back his flight to see Emily. She introduces Marcello to Gabriel, which gets awkward when the former starts explaining their Megève meet-cute and joking about the "jerk" boyfriend who left Em behind on the mountain. Gabriel laughs it off but excuses himself, leaving the party early and Emily unsuccessfully trying to rush after him.

Marcello catches up with her and tells her he wants her to come to Rome for the weekend, saying he'll get take care of her airline ticket. "Tell me you'll think about it?" he says, before laying a smooch on her. Pack your bags for Italy!

After all that Christmas chaos in episode 6, we're starting fresh with Emily Cooper (Lily Collins), Sylvie Grateau (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) and the rest of our Paris-set pals in Emily in Paris season 4 episode 7. Well, sort of. 

We're officially in a new year in the Emily in Paris world and there's new characters like Geneviève (Thalia Besson) mixing and mingling with our old faves. But there's still plenty of lingering dramas that need taking care of, including that baby business between Camille (Camille Razat) and Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and how it will affect things with Emily moving forward.

Is Mindy backing the wrong horse?

Speaking of new, Mindy (Ashley Park) has got a new gig: as the headliner of Crazy Horse, a Parisian cabaret known for its topless performers. She and the band could really use the money for Eurovision, so despite the concerns of boyfriend Nico (Paul Forman) — whose family is still very much under scrutiny after Sylvie's exposé on his father Louis and whose future as JVMA CEO is still up in the air — she decides to go through with it. 

However, while at rehearsal for the nudie revue, she hilariously realizes she can't actually physically sing with her clothes off. Will she be able to go through with it or will she lose her new job?

Sylvie flirts with revenge

With hubby Laurent G temporarily occupied in Saint Tropez dealing with his beach club, Sylvie is stuck in Paris with his daughter Geneviève. To establish a bond with her stepchild, Sylvie decides to take Geneviève out after work for a private shopping session ("You dress like an American," she quips), where the two gals have a great time trying on couture and jamming to rock tunes. However, Geneviève spills that Laurent stays with her mom once or twice a year when he's in New York, a development that Sylvie promises doesn't upset her, but it's still "new information."

Sylvie's marriage takes another ding when she runs into her client/former lover Antoine Lambert (William Abadie) in the supermarket. Since they're both solo for the evening, he invites her to dine with him, but she declines. He tells her he was in Saint Tropez the weekend prior — Laurent was definitely not thinking about her so she shouldn't be thinking about him, he argues.

Later, she heads to Laurent G Paris — no, not to see her husband, she tells security, but to get her groove on. She rips a slit in her dress and heads for the bar, where she's immediately scooped up by a handsome gent, with whom she shares a steamy dance. She gives her dance partner a chaste kiss but opts to leave the club alone, though not before telling the security guard to inform her husband about everything he saw that night.

Camille comes clean (apparently)

Emily's contemplations about whether or not she should delete Gabriel from her Instagram following their break-up seem solidified when she sees Camille picking him up in a convertible for an intimate lunch together outside of the city. 

During their meal at a Michelin-starred restaurant inside of an old abbey, Camille talks about how much her family loves him and to apologize about what went down with Emily over Christmas. He reveals that though the idea of having a child terrifies him, he can't wait to be a dad. "That's why I wanted to come here," Camille tells him. She wants them to see a priest about... adoption? 

Apparently, she finally came clean to her old beau about the false pregnancy, but we don't get to see that big reveal on camera. Regardless, it seems Gabriel now knows about the baby, or lack thereof. But despite her proclamations that adoption would be a lovely way they could create a family together, he declines. "We're not together, Camille," he reminds her, telling her it shouldn't feel so hard to work things out between them. 

Later, Emily drops by Camille's office with a gift (a Maison Lavaux perfume "rattle") and an apology for leaving Megève without saying goodbye to her and her family. It's there she gets the news from Camille about the pregnancy. But why didn't Gabriel tell her himself, she wonders. 

What are Geneviève's motives?

Initially, Emily is very happy to have another American girl, Geneviève, in the ranks at Agence Grateau. They bond during a welcome lunch (especially after a fun cameo by the real-life French first lady Brigitte Macron) and Emily assures the young assistant she will take her under her wing at the agency. She asks Sylvie to include Geneviève at the Maison Lavaux perfume pitch and also invites her to tag along to an ill-timed TV spot featuring Gabriel. (Em still hasn't told her teammates about the break-up.)

It's during set-up for that TV spot that Emily and Gabriel have a personal blowout, all within earshot of Geneviève. After she confronts him for not telling her about the Camille pregnancy situation, Gabriel goes off, saying their communication has always been a problem because the American refuses to learn French fluently. In his mother tongue, he yells: "I had this bright future with you, a Michelin star, a baby but I spent time trying to convince you that we were worth it... I no longer believe in anything."

He's clearly not in the mood to do a cheery chef spot for a TV program, but Geneviève suggests she try talking to him. In fluent French, she manages to convince him to continue with the shoot. But when Emily asks her if she can translate some of the personal stuff that Gabriel was saying in their fight, Geneviève fibs and says he told Emily he doesn't want to see her anymore. Is Gen out to get Gabriel for herself?

It sure seems like it, as Emily and Mindy spot the twosome together later looking awfully chummy over glasses of wine. "Uh, are we sure we like her?" Mindy asks. We'll have to wait and see!

Joyeux noël, ami! Ok sure, we're still several months out from the winter holidays but you can't tell creator Darren Star and the Emily in Paris crew that, because when we catch up with Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) and all of her French pals in part two of Emily in Paris season 4, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. 

"Last Christmas," the part two premiere was jam-packed with ice-skating rinks and insane fur coats, cozy fireplaces and chaotic ski trips; a mix of picturesque and pandemonium that we've come to expect from the romantic comedy series.

Read on as we break down everything that happened in Emily in Paris season 4 episode 6.

Ménage à Megève

After a festive party, the staffers of Agence Grateau are officially off for the holiday break, with Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) basically commanding everyone not to call or text her until the new year. And yes, that means Emily, who rings her boss to thank her for generously upgrading her to business class for her Air France flight home to Chicago. 

Alas, her beau Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) won't be joining her in the States since he can't leave the restaurant for that long; instead, he will be keeping up tradition by joining baby mama Camille (Camille Razat) and her family out at their chalet in Megève for oysters, goose and skiing. At least all of the free treats in the very swank business class lounge help sweeten Emily's disappointment. Until all of the flights to Chicago out of Charles de Gaulle Airport get grounded due to bad weather in Illinois, leaving Emily stranded with her very overpacked luggage. 

After phoning Gabriel of her bad travel luck, Camille's father Gérard (Christophe Guybet) graciously extends an invite to Emily to join them for the holiday, much to the chagrin of Camille and her scheming mother Louise (Camille Japy), who still wants things to work out between Gabriel and her daughter. 

Emily is initially excited about the last-minute setting switch ("I feel like I'm in The Sound of Music!" That was Austria, Em), but things slowly but surely turn into a less-than-jolly Christmas, and not just because the French aren't big fans of her kitschy Christmas sweater collection. Camille's younger bro Timothée (Victor Meutelet) jokingly calls Emily Gabriel's mistress now that he's having a baby with Camille, which does not sit right with her. That uneasiness boils over during an afternoon on the ski mountain, when the more sportily experienced Camille and Gabriel leave her behind on the slopes to flail, fall and fend for herself. Thankfully, Em gets some much-appreciated assistance down the mountain by a hunky Italian tourist named Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini). 

That intriguing encounter, however, does nothing to calm Emily's anger. By the time she meets up with Gabriel and Camille at the foot of the slopes, she's raging: "You're always going to choose her, which you should! But I cannot be the person who constantly pulls you away from your family." She tells him it's not going to work between them. "Coming here was a mistake. Or maybe it wasn't," she declares before storming off, leaving Gabriel looking heartbroken and Camille relieved. 

The Grateau family grows

Back in Paris, Sylvie is dealing with her own drama — namely, the illegitimate child of her husband Laurent G (Arnaud Binard). Yes, he has a long-lost daughter Geneviève (Thalia Besson) who he didn't know about until she was 17 years old. Now a college grad, Geneviève is coming to Paris with the hopes of working in the fashion industry. She's staying with Laurent and Sylvie on their couch over the holidays while she looks for a job and an apartment, but her messiness has Sylvie scrambling to get Gen her own place sooner rather than later.

When Sylvie hears Geneviève has a job interview with Carine Roitfeld, a former editor-in-chief of French Vogue and an old acquaintance of Sylvie's, she offers to put in a good word. However, her strategy of hyping up Geneviève backfires, with Carine telling Sylvie she should hire her herself. So, to make it up to her new stepdaughter, Sylvie offers Geneviève a position at her agency.

Who to kiss under the mistletoe?

Mindy (Ashley Park) isn't joining Nico and his family in St. Bart's for the holiday, not a surprise given how testy things are between her and the De Léons. Instead, she decides to stay in Paris and have an "orphan Christmas party" with friends — like Julien (Samuel Arnold) and his Barcelona-based situationship Dominique, who is visiting for the holidays — and her bandmates Étienne (Jin Xuan Mao) and Benoît (Kevin Dias). 

While Julien likes having Dominique around as a "stocking stuffer" (ahem), he's worried the Spaniard is moving too fast, with plans to move to Paris full-time and give things a shot as a real couple. "He's been here one day and he already wants to play house. He asked me to go to mass!" Julien gripes to Mindy.

Mindy also seems romantically confused. Though she told Emily earlier in the episode those sparks between her and Benoît when they performed together in part 1 was simply a performance strategy ("We were giving the audience a taste of what they wanted while also leaving them wanting more"), it's clear there's still something between the exes, as they swooningly perform a duet of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" at the party. 

All I want for Christmas is... anybody?

Emily has returned to Paris, looking very dejected as she hauls that overpacked suitcase across the cobblestones. She perks up a bit when she surprisingly runs into a familiar face: Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), who Emily in Paris fans haven't seen since that masquerade party back in episode 3. 

Em spills about the break-up with Gabriel and he fills her in on what's been going on with him, which apparently includes a pretty serious new girlfriend. He turns down her offer to join her at Mindy's holiday party, saying he's meeting said girlfriend and her family for Christmas mass. She says she's really happy for him but after he leaves Emily dissolves into sobs, mourning not only her split from Gabriel but from Alfie, too. Of course, the weather gods then take the opportunity to make it snow. A messy Christmas, indeed!

It's the midseason finale of Emily in Paris season 4! The first five episodes dropped on August 15 and the story of Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) and her France-set friends and coworkers will continue with the final five installments on Thursday, September 12. And given that not-so-little cliffhanger—plus, that snowy sneak peek of the upcoming eps—we're going to be counting down the days until all of our questions are answered.

Will Camille's (Camille Razat) secret ruin things between Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Emily? Will Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) be back for part 2? And just who is that hunky Italian that we saw Emily with on the ski slopes? 

But before we look forward for Emily in Paris, let's recap how everything went down in Emily in Paris season 4 episode 5, "Trompe l'oeil."

Starry-eyed lovers

It looks like all of that romantic fantasy between Emily and Gabriel last episode is still going strong. Sure, Gabriel isn't a fan of the over-the-top dessert theatricality and soufflé-related snippiness of his new pastry chef — especially with Luc's (Bruno Gouery) girlfriend, the Michelin inspector, coming in to check out L'Esprit de Gigi for a third visit — but odds are looking good at that coveted Michelin star. 

Gabriel reveals how much the industry distinction would mean to him during an after-hours hang at Bouillon Chartier with fellow restaurant staffers, which he invites Emily to. Later, during a romantic stroll along the Seine, Gabriel tells her: "I just want to freeze this moment, standing here with you." He drops the big L-word and the two are gleamingly happy — for now. 

Shine it all around

Speaking of happy, Julien (Samuel Arnold) is back! The Agence Grateau gang is officially back together now that Julien parted ways with JVMA and good timing, too, because their latest client is a doozy. 

Li (Elizabeth Tan) is an old friend of Mindy's (Ashley Park) who has a new Korean skincare line, Kadiance, that she wants Agence Grateau to sell to the Parisian market. Thinking they can turn the "glass skin" moisturizer into the new La Mer, Emily suggests they have a big sampling event for big-pocketed buyers to try out the product. 

The only problem is that while at the Kadiance event, Julien shares some distressing news with Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) and the team: Li had previously tried to sell the product on the French version of Shark Tank, but back then she was marketing Kadiance as a KY-style personal lubricant. Yes, the super-shiny moisturizer that all of the customers are excitedly slathering onto their face is straight-up lube. But seeing how popular the product seems to be with customers, Emily and Co. decide to just go with it — and jack up the unit price. It looks like Ms. Cooper is rubbing off on the gang! 

Dulled Michelin dreams

Things have been so busy with Laurent G's club that Sylvie didn't get a chance to celebrate her husband's birthday. She wants to take him somewhere special for dinner, an impossible-to-get reservation, so she seeks help from Luc and his girlfriend Marianne (Laurence Gormezano). The latter believes doing Sylvie this big favor will open up the door for Luc to ask for a promotion, so they score Sylvie and Laurent G (Arnaud Binard) a table at the swanky L'Ambroisie. 

However, Sylvie is less than please to find out that not only are Luc and Marianne unexpectedly joining them for the birthday dinner, but also Luc decides to ask for a raise right at the dinner table. Sylvie says her husband's birthday celebration is hardly the place for such a conversation, so they'll table it for another time. 

But Luc's chances for a salary bump are very much put in jeopardy when it's mortifyingly revealed mid-meal that Marianne actually no longer is a Michelin inspector and was fired last year for insider dining. Their expensive dinner is no longer comped — Sylvie foots the bill because Luc can't afford it, "not without a raise" — and it looks like Gabriel's Michelin chances are kaput. 

Will the truth come to light? 

Camille (Camille Razat) and Sofia (Melia Kreiling) have officially moved out of Gabriel's apartment into the unit next door, but that hasn't solved all of their relationship problems. Camille wants the second bedroom to be the baby's nursery; Sofia wants it to be her art studio. While furniture shopping, Camille wants to spend money on a pricey rocking horse; Sofia wants an easel. 

The mom-to-be doesn't appreciate Sofia's attitude towards all things baby, which balloons into a bigger fight. It doesn't help that Sofia spotted Camille and Gabriel sharing a sweet hug after the latter told his former fiancée to keep the engagement ring he had given her because, with a baby on the way, they were still family.

Soon, Sofia is packing her bags and heading back to Greece — she had initially come to Paris because she was worried about Camille but hadn't anticipated uprooting her entire life. She offers for Camille and the baby to come to Athens with her, but Camille refuses — she can't take the baby away from its father. 

However, at an OBGYN appointment, Camille is told some shocking news: there never was a baby. It was a false positive on the home pregnancy test and her lack of period all this time has been due to stress. Talking to a friend at the café later, she's clearly a wreck, worried about how this will affect things with Gabriel. 

At L'Esprit de Gigi that evening, where Gabriel is nursing the bad news of his crushed Michelin chances with plenty of wine — he also immediately sacked that pastry chef and his obnoxious soufflés — the dad-not-to-be drunkenly declares that the lack of star doesn't matter, he has everything he needs with Emily, Camille and the baby on the way. Camille doesn't have the heart to tell him, so she doesn't. But will she? Cliffhanger!

Though Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) has officially chosen Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) over Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), there are still things that need clearing up when it comes to their complicated relationship, as we learn in Emily in Paris season 4 episode 4. 

Sure, Emily may proudly declare to Mindy (Ashley Park) that these days she's "someone who's living the question instead of always trying to find the right answer," but our heroine still wants clarity about her romance with the Frenchman, as well as exactly when his ex will move out of his apartment.

Too many people at Chateau Gabriel

After a night of steamy texting during service at L'esprit de Gigi, Emily and Gabriel are looking forward to some one-on-one time back at her apartment — his own unit is still pretty packed, what with both Camille (Camille Razat) and Sofia (Melia Kreiling) having moved in — except a weepy Mindy is there, saddened by the drama between her and Nicolas de Léon (Paul Forman) following Le Monde's investigative piece against his father. Gabriel takes that as his cue to leave and lets the two women talk, but it's clear that lack of privacy is getting frustrating for the newly reunited couple. 

It doesn't help that Gabriel's landlady has gotten word he has three people living in the unit, which goes against his lease. Camille manages to appease the propriétaire with a slice of homemade quiche and assurance that Sofia is simply a visiting friend from Greece. 

Their ménage à quatre continues as Gabriel forgets to tell Emily both Camille and Sofia will be joining them for a dessert tasting at the restaurant, under the guise of him hiring a top-notch pastry chef to secure that Michelin star. Em's not particularly happy about the whole situation, especially with Camille and Gabriel chummily reminiscing in their mother tongue about a vacation they took together to Megève, but Gabriel makes it up to her with a romantic secret rendezvous up on their apartment building's roof. 

However, later, when Sofia informs Emily that Camille has ixnayed every single new apartment they've seen, Emily desperately confirms their illegal living arrangement to the landlady in the hopes it will force the women from Gabriel's home. "Too many people!" she cries. 

She tells Gabriel what she did while attending the Laurent G à Paris launch party. She thought she could "live in the gray area and be cool with it," but it's just not her, she needs boundaries, order "and a ceiling over my bed." He surprises her by telling her that he also told the landlady about the situation and doesn't want to lose her or his apartment over this whole mess.

At the same shindig, Camille reveals the propriétaire has given them only 24 hours to vacate Gabriel's apartment, but there's good news: she and Sofia will be moving into the vacant unit right next door. Looks like Emily's worries are far from over: "She's having his baby. Did you really think that she was going to move away from him?" Sofia asks

Who will Nico choose: Mindy or Louis?

Things between Mindy and Nicolas have been tense ever since the Le Monde article against Louis de Léon (Pierre Deny), with the family going doing damage control. First, Mindy refuses to be photographed with Louis during a charity event, saying she didn't want to be complicit or connected to the scandal. Then, Nico declines attending the Laurent G launch party where Mindy would be performing with the band, as JVMA pulled the funding for the yacht club in retaliation for Sylvie's (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) participation in the piece. She tells him she's not asking him to choose between JVMA and Agence Grateau, but simply to choose her. 

It doesn't help that during the Laurent G à Paris event, the onstage sparks are positively flying between Mindy and Benoît (Kevin Dias), so much so that Luc (Bruno Gouery) mistakes them for a couple. 

When Nico does show up to the Laurent G party to surprise Mindy, he mentions that he sadly missed her performance — though it was probably for the best, or else he would have spotted all of that bandmate chemistry. He tells her he told the JVMA board that as long as his father is still CEO, he won't work for the business. The board wants Louis to step down, potentially meaning that Nico could move up as CEO. As he and Mindy kiss in celebration, Benoît moodily looks on. Uh-oh, looks like another messy ménage à trois!

Life's a beach for Agence Grateau

Yes, Sylvie and Co. are in a bit of a panic when they get the news that JVMA won't be funding Laurent G's (Arnaud Binard) new yacht club after all, especially with the opening party so close and more than 500 RSVPs confirmed to attend. Laurent isn't upset about the business, though — he's proud of his wife for taking a stand. He also has missed Saint-Tropez and his beach club there, he tells Sylvie. 

Sylvie, however, is not excited to have her husband leave Paris for the coast again, nor does she want Agence Grateau to be "too controversial" for clients to want to work with. (Though her team is still getting commissioned by beauty big wigs like Augustinus Bader). Scrambling to come up with a new location for the Laurent G à Paris launch, she reaches out to a surprising source: her mother, Héloïse (Liliane Rovère), who might be even more intimidating and French than her daughter. This is a woman who owned a bumping Parisian nightclub back in the 1970s and reportedly once had an affair with Mick Jagger and Rod Stewart... at the same time! 

During lunch with maman, Sylvie asks if she can use Héloïse's old, empty nightclub space for the Laurent G launch. Mom has some misgivings about the Le Monde article and some terms and conditions but ultimately agrees. As for filling the space with water and sand to mimic a beach? "Carla Bruni practically drowned in a foam party here in the 80s," Héloïse assures; the club can handle a little water. 

The event ends up being a big success, aided by the strategic arrival of Gregory Dupree's new (and very phallic) fashion collection for Pierre Cadault. Nicholas and the JVMA crew had brutally scrapped Gregory's whole presentation earlier and that, coupled with Louis and Co. trying to dig up dirt on Sylvie via Julien (Samuel Arnold), led to the latter leaving his cushy corner office and coming back to Agence Grateau. The team is officially back together, and Gregory Dupree's risqué looks will be in the pages of every tabloid in Paris. "Louis is going to be furious!" Sylvie delights.

Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) has amour on the brain. (But really, when doesn't she?) Our leading lady of Emily in Paris season 4 is surrounded by hunky men, from the muscley joggers and sharp-jawed police officers she sees on her daily run to, yes, her former love interests Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) and Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), who are both very much back in her orbit (as well as her shower — but more on that in une minute). 

Emily In Paris season 4 episode 3, entitled "Masquerade," sees the mademoiselle finally choosing between her two handsome suitors.

Less-than-ideal living arrangements

Gabriel drops by Emily's apartment while she's out, but he's not actually there to see her — he needs to use her shower. You see, his own bathroom is quite crammed at the moment, what with both Camille (Camille Razat) and Sofia (Melia Kreiling) staying with him; a strange sort of "sleepaway camp," Emily notes. 

Of course, Mindy (Ashley Park) doesn't alert Emily that her very naked ex is in la douche, so Em unknowingly returns from her run to not only gossip about Gabriel's unconventional sleeping arrangements — the mother of his child and her lover are in his bed, while he's taken the couch — but to swoon over all of the good-looking men she saw whilst jogging. When she notes she's forgotten how to be single now that Gabriel nor Alfie are romantically in the picture, the Frenchman finally makes himself known and confirms she's not with Alfie, despite the smooch he saw at Roland-Garros. Understandably, Emily is mortified by the whole sudsy situation.

Later, when Emily and Mindy are out to dinner together, the latter jokes she was doing a favor by leaving a stripped-down, soaped-up Gabriel in their shower for Emily to find. But Emily says due to Gabriel's soon-to-be-dad status, plus the prickly way things have been with Alfie — during a meeting to plan Maison Lavaux's latest perfume launch, he snappily challenged her "Heartbreak Ball" themed masquerade idea — she is now "so over" both of them. Sure. 

Sylvie stands up for what's right

Sylvie Grateau (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) is still being chased down by that Le Monde reporter to give her insights on what it was like to work for JVMA boss Louis de Léon (Pierre Deny) as a female subordinate. She's torn on whether or not she should participate in the investigative piece, especially since he is investing in the new yacht club that her husband, Laurent G (Arnaud Binard), is opening. She tells Laurent about her concerns: "I don't think they have a story without me."

At the Maison Lavaux masquerade, we find out Sylvie did end up doing the right thing and sat down with the reporter, wanting to hold men like Louis accountable for their actions despite the harm it will undoubtedly cause to her husband's business. After making amends with Julien (Samuel Arnold) at the Heartbreak Ball, she shows him the article and warns him about working for a place like JVMA. 

She also runs into Mindy and thanks her for revealing that brand-closet business to Emily and thus sparking the whole investigation against Louis. Realizing the mess this will all make for Nicolas de Léon (Paul Forman), Mindy rushes to be with him. He's furious about the article, claiming that people have been trying to bring down the family's company for years, but Mindy confesses she believes the rumors to be true. "Sometimes our dads disappoint us," she tells him, and promises to be by his side through the whole media scandal, so long as he's "on the side that's right." 

Emily's true feelings are unmasked

Looking like a chic Hamburglar — even crazier, she's not the only one at the Heartbreak Ball wearing the bold, black-and-white striped ensemble — Emily runs into Gabriel while awaiting her cab to the masquerade. He tells her all of his "complicated" things (i.e., Camille, Sofia, the baby, et al) shouldn't be getting between them. His feelings for her haven't changed; have hers? But the only way they could work is if we were two different people she tells him. 

So later, when he surprises her at the Maison Lavaux event — having been invited by Antoine Lambert (William Abadie) — he jokingly pretends to be something else entirely: David Guetta. (No, not the DJ.) She plays along, as Irish middle school math teacher Anna O'Leary ("Please don't make me do the accent"). 

But Emily also encounters Alfie at the ball, who apologizes for giving her a hard time about the masquerade idea. Earlier in the episode, a conversation with Camille reminded Alfie that Emily hasn't just immediately resumed her relationship with Gabriel upon their break-up, which seemingly has given the Brit hope — he asks Emily to dance, and they have a fun, flirty time together. 

So it's understandable that Ms. Cooper is quite conflicted when she runs into Mindy at the party. Both men mean so much to her for different reasons and now she has to choose. But who really has her heart? 

It looks like Gabriel is the answer, as Emily seeks him out for a dance, but as themselves, not David and Anna. "Sometimes I wish there was nobody else. Just us," she tells him, to which he replies: "Why can't it be?" And it just might be, after Alfie accidentally declares his love to Emily's masquerade doppelgänger and spots the real Emily leaving the party with Gabriel hand-in-hand. Seems like he is officially and mortifyingly removing himself from that long-running love triangle all together. 

Cozy with Gabriel in a horse-drawn carriage through the streets of Paris, Emily declares the night feels like a fantasy. "It feels too good to be true," she tells him. The real world will no doubt come to complicate things between them, but for now, "why don't we forget about reality for a night and just stay in the fantasy?" he asks, sealed with a kiss. 

All five episodes of Emily in Paris season 4 part 1 are now available to stream on Netflix.

The season premiere of Emily in Paris season 4 left viewers on a bit of a cliffhanger: Camille (Camille Razat), the onetime friend of Emily (Lily Collins) and former fiancée-slash-baby mama of Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), is missing, with no one having seen or heard from the gallerist since her called-off wedding three days prior. 

Much of Emily in Paris season 4 episode 2, fittingly titled "Love on the Run," revolves around trying to track down Camille and making sure no foul play occurred against the beautiful blonde.

So where exactly has Camille been and, more importantly, with whom? 

Detective Emily Cooper, at your service

Scouring social media with Mindy (Ashley Park), Emily thinks she's discovered a clue about Camille's whereabouts: Sofia Sideris's most recent posting — a snap of sunny Greece with the caption, "Lost is a lovely place to find yourself" — has her thinking that Camille is holed up in the Mediterranean with her secret lover. 

She relays as such to Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), who has been worried sick about the mother of his child, calling local hospitals and searching all of Camille's favorite cafés. He's not happy to hear about Camille having an affair with Sofia whilst she was in a relationship with him, but finding out that Emily knew about it this whole time is another stab in the back. "I was in my own relationship, okay? I didn't think it was my job to step into yours," she proclaims. Soon, the duo is screaming at each other in the street. He stomps off, leaving Emily to do her investigating solo.

Emily messages Sofia to get more information on Camille's location, but the artist tells her Camille actually isn't in Greece with her; she hasn't heard from her at all. Despite their fight, she notifies Gabriel, who takes off to Megève, a village in the Alps where Camille's family has a chalet. It's the only place they haven't looked yet, he explains. 

But she's not in the Alps, Emily discovers. Conveniently remembering Camille had shared her location on Emily's phone while they were in Saint-Tropez back in Emily in Paris season 2, she sees that the pregnant woman is actually in Giverny, the French commune that was famously once home to Claude Monet. It's actually at the impressionist's former abode — now the Fondation Claude Monet Museum — that Emily finds Camille tending to the water lilies in a rowboat on the property's pond. 

Camille is not happy to see her ("You feel guilty, not worried," she shouts), and soon their argument turns physical, sending both women flailing into the water beneath them.

That involuntary dip cools down their fiery fight, with both sheepishly apologizing. Camille agrees to return to Paris with Emily, where she finds not only Gabriel but also Sofia — who flew in from Greece to join the search — waiting for her back at L'Esprit de Gigi. She hugs Gabriel in relief but her kiss with Sofia feels far more romantic. However, Gabriel is okay with things between them. He later tells Emily: "I understand what it feels like to fall in love with someone else."

Luc is on the loose

Now that Julien (Samuel Arnold) has officially quit Agence Grateau and moved over to JVMA — and is very much enjoying his plush new corner office — Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) has to divide his accounts across the team. That leaves Luc (Bruno Gouery) in charge of a luncheon for the luxe jewelry brand Boucheron, and the Frenchman is feeling out of his depth. (Specifically, he's not "haute enough" for the client.) 

Panicked, he calls his former colleague for help with the presentation. Sneakily using an in-ear monitor, Julien agrees to relay all of the details for the luncheon to Luc, who then presents them to the Boucheron team. (Not without a silly lunch order mix-up, of course.) 

The presentation appeases the clients, and Luc is allowed to run the luncheon, but when the reps point out that it feels like "something is missing" from the event, Luc runs with the idea, telling them that's actually the very theme of the lunch. He announces that one of the Boucheron pendants is missing, and attendees will have to embark on a Boucheron "scavenger hunt" to find the missing jewels — the brand will post clues on social media and whoever finds the pendant, gets to keep it. 

It's a savvy marketing move but a worrisome one for client, who says they don't have the budget to simply give away an expensive necklace. Don't fret, Luc tells him: "We just keep posting the clues until they get bored." We have a feeling this is going to come back and bite Luc in le cul. 

The toxic legend of Louis de Léon

Over at JVMA, Nicolas de Léon (Paul Forman) has been trying to apologize to Mindy for the "Roland-Garros slut-shaming" incident. He sends a private car to whisk her away to the JVMA headquarters, where he apologizes for not standing up to his father. To make it up to her, he gives her free rein of the brand closet. "It's like my own personal Bon Marchet," she happily shrieks. Apology accepted.

However, while flipping through the fashions, some young female JVMA employees come in to warn her: "Women shouldn't go into the brand closet alone." Apparently, Nicolas's dad and JVMA boss Louis de Léon (Pierre Deny) has a "borderline creepy" penchant for picking out clothes for his female employees and forcing them to try them on in front of him, as she discloses to Emily later. Will she tell Nicholas? "I don't know what to do," she worries.

But Emily does: she tells Sylvie. The Agence Grateau owner is back in Louis' orbit this episode, as her husband Laurent G (Arnaud Binard) tells her early on that JVMA wants to hire her team to do the marketing for the new yacht club that they're opening. After spotting Sylvie, Louis and Laurent having a business breakfast near the office, Emily sits down with her boss and divulges everything Mindy had told her about the problematic JVMA CEO. 

With that Le Monde reporter again chasing down Sylvia for an interview against Louis de Léon and his workplace misdeeds, has Sylvie gotten herself into business with a marketing disaster?

Bonjour, mon cheri! Sure, the 2024 Olympics have officially left Paris, but we're still in France (at least mentally), because Emily in Paris season 4 has arrived with its first five episodes on Netflix (the final five episodes will drop on Thursday, September 12). 

Last we saw Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) in the Emily in Paris season 3 finale, she had just witnessed Camille (Camille Razat) break off her nuptials to Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) because she rightly suspected that the French chef actually had feelings for Emily, a revelation that also prompted Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) to dump our eponymous heroine. And that's not even getting into all of the professional drama that went down with Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) and the rest of the Agence Grateau team. 

A lot went down last season so without further ado, let's catch up with our oh-so-fashionable friends in France. 

Emily Cooper, social media star

Three days after the wedding that wasn't, Emily has gone viral — for all the wrong reasons. Camille's brother Timothée (Victor Meutelet) has taken TikTok by storm with his animated recounting of how Mademoiselle Cooper "ruined" his sister's big day, detailing all of the romantic nitty-gritty between Emily, Gabriel and Alfie. Sure, it's a handy refresher for viewers about that whole bridal mess, but it's also a PR nightmare for Agence Grateau, with Sylvie watching in horror as Emily's personal life mucks up her business once more. (For his part, Bruno Gouery's Luc is loving the social media series.) 

The problem is Julien's (Samuel Arnold) client, AMI, has already approved an entire "Love is in the Air" campaign based around Emily and Alfie's real-life love story, which now is significantly more complicated after the whole viral break-up thing. AMI wants the estranged couple to recreate the ad's romantic smooch in person over caméra bisou (aka kiss cam) at Roland-Garros the next day. But Alfie not only hasn't been texting Emily back, but he's straight-up deleted her from Instagram. How will Emily fix this personal and professional snafu?

Two's company, three's a crowd

Despite the fact that Emily tells BFF Mindy Chen (Ashley Park) that she's not interested in exploring the "nice little path" Camille has cleared for her to Gabriel, it seems like that little je ne sais quoi still very much exists between the marketing maven and the French chef. 

Running into Gabriel in her apartment building, she notices he's burned his hand while cooking at the restaurant, so she helps him with his groceries and whips up some eggs for the injured toque. He fills her (and us) in on what's been going on with Camille — she's been staying at her family's chateau in the South, seemingly avoiding him — and proclaims he wants to make things right between her and Alfie. "Alfie isn't your problem, Gabriel, and Camille isn't mine," she reminds him. 

But that doesn't stop Alfie from showing up to L'Esprit de Gigi to set things straight with its chef-owner. "You told me you were my friend. And then you lied right to my face," Alfie confronts him. However, Gabriel assures the Brit that nothing untoward happened between him and Emily while she was Alfie, and any feelings he may still harbor for her don't matter: "I won't get in the way. End of discussion."

After Alfie gets admonished from Sylvie for mixing work with play, he shows up last minute at the Roland-Garros and ends up saving the AMI campaign. But the on-camera kiss that he shares with Emily — which Gabriel spies while watching the tennis match at the restaurant, naturally — isn't an amorous one, but a sort of goodbye. Despite her promising him that their relationship was real, he informs her he can't get past his worries: "I'm always going to be waiting for the other shoe to drop."

Can't dull Mindy's shine

Ever colorfully dressed, Mindy and her bandmates Etienne (Jin Xuan Mao) and Benoit (Kevin Dias) sit down with a Eurovision rep about being selected as the French delegation for the song contest. (For "Mon Soleil," remember?) It's exciting news, until the trio is brutally informed that, due to budget cuts, they'll have to personally foot the bill for their own recording sessions, choreographers and dancers, even pyro experts. ("No help from the government? What is this, America?!") Benoit suggests they start busking again nightly to earn the cash, but Etienne wants Mindy to see if she can get the money from her wealthy beau, JVMA heir Nicolas de Léon (Paul Forman).

Relationship-wise, things are looking good for Mindy and Nicolas: he has invited her to join him and his family in the JVMA suite at Roland-Garros, and even gifted her a pricey couture outfit to wear for the festivities. However, while at the match, Mindy overhears Nicolas' father, Louis de Léon (Pierre Deny), speaking disparagingly in French about the way Mindy usually dresses. She confronts Nicolas afterwards: "Did you give me this outfit to make me more palatable to your dad?" He confesses his father is obsessed with crafting the perfect family image, but Mindy is furious Nicolas didn't stand up for her. She storms out — "You do not want me to stay with this much rage and free alcohol" — but not before saying pointedly goodbye to Louis in perfect French. 

Mindy gets the last laugh, however: she takes that couture outfit to a luxury consignment collector and sells it for €3,000 to help fund the band's Eurovision dreams. 

Sylvie's not-so-suite life

We already know the Sylvie Grateau versus Louis de Léon feud runs deep, though we don't entirely know why — but it looks like we'll get answers this season. After all, Sylvie's husband Laurent G (Arnaud Binard) is already in business with Louis, opening a scenic yacht club together right on the Seine, so the rivals will be forced to socialize. 

Case in point: Sylvie warily agreeing to join her hubby in the JVMA suite at Louis se Léon. While there, however, she clocks a one-on-one conversation between Nicolas and Julien. Is Nicolas who Julien was secretly texting at the end of season 3 about a potential role? Yes, her employee confesses. However, he's less than pleased to hear that, instead of being poached for his own talents, Sylvie believes Louis wants to hire him just to get back at her for the Pierre Cadault mess last season. Insulted, Julien quits on the spot. 

The drama continues back at home, when Sylvie gets a voicemail from a reporter at Le Monde who is researching Louis de Léon and rumors of sexual misconduct within JVMA. She wants to interview Sylvie about her experiences with Louie — will Sylvie tell all?

Of course, a cliffhanger

As Emily is heading home from her successful day at Roland-Garros, she runs into an anxious Gabriel outside L'Esprit de Gigi. He just got off the phone with Camille's mother, who is freaking out because nobody has seen Camille since the wedding three days earlier. "Camille is missing," a distressed Gabriel declares, right before the credits roll. Sacré bleu!

Emily in Paris fans have been waiting patiently for the new season to land on Netflix, and now we finally know that Emily in Paris season 4 will arrive this summer. 

In an announcement today, Friday, May 3, the streaming site announced the news with a very exciting video, which you can watch below. 

In the clip Lily Collins, who plays Emily, is seen revealing that the show will land back on our screens on Thursday, August 15... but the bad news for fans is that the season will be split into two five-part halves, meaning we won't be able to binge the entire series in one go, like we have in previous years. 

The second half of the season will land on Netflix on Thursday, September 12, meaning we will have a month to wait to see what will happen in the remaining five episodes.

However, while that might be bad news for fans, there is also some good news! 

Viewers will know that British banker Alfie, played by former Coronation Street star Lucien Laviscount walked out at the end of season 3 after finding out from Camille that Emily was secretly in love with Gabriel. 

This left his future on the show hanging in the balance, but today's announcement from Netflix confirms that Lucien is back as Emily's love interest... along with all our other regulars including Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie Grateau, Ashley Park as Emily's BFF Mindy Chen, Lucas Bravo as Gabriel, Camille Razat as Camille, Samuel Arnold as Julien, Bruno Gouery as Luc and William Abadie as Antoine Lambert. 

But what can we expect from season 4? Netflix says: "After the dramatic events of Camille and Gabriel’s misbegotten wedding, Emily is reeling: She has strong feelings for two men, but now Gabriel’s expecting a baby with his ex, and Alfie’s worst fears about her and Gabriel have been confirmed. 

"At work, Sylvie is forced to confront a thorny dilemma from her past for the sake of her marriage, and the Agence Grateau team navigates personnel shakeups. Mindy and the band prepare for Eurovision, but when funds run dry, they’re forced to get thrifty. 

"Emily and Gabriel’s chemistry is undeniable as they work together towards a Michelin star, but two big secrets threaten to undo everything they’ve dreamed of." WE. CAN'T. WAIT!

Emily in Paris season 4 is here and fans couldn't be more excited to see the next installment of the romantic comedy after that cliffhanger at the end of Emily in Paris season 3. 

Viewers can't get enough of Lily Collins as the loveable social media manager, but it isn't just Emily's eye-catching Parisian wardrobe that has hooked fans on the show. There is also the rollercoaster that is Emily's love life which has seen the love triangle between sexy French chef Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and hot British banker Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) take so many twists and turns that it's made us dizzy. 

After Emily in Paris season 3 landed on Netflix following a hugely popular Emily in Paris season 2 and Emily in Paris season 1, fans were waiting to see who Emily would choose between Gabriel or Alfie. 

But while we now know that Emily picked her British boyfriend... nothing is ever that simple in Emily's world, and now there is a (baby) bump in Emily's road to happiness.

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu is set to return as Emily's boss, Sylvie, plus her hilarious co-workers Julien (Samuel Arnold) and Luc (Bruno Gouery). 

Also returning is Ashley Park as Emily's best friend, Mindy, while Lucas Bravo (Mrs Harris Goes to Paris) returns as handsome chef Gabriel, along with Camille Razat who plays Emily's frenemy, Camille.

Emily in Paris season 4 filming news

After numerous delays, filming for Emily in Paris season 4 is finally done. To mark the milestone, Lily posted a photo on Instagram showing her holding a script for the new season. Hurrah!

Just as season 4 production began, Ashley Park, who plays Emily's BFF, Mindy, revealed that she had been struck down with a life-threatening health issue after her tonsillitis “spiraled into critical septic shock, which infected and affected several of my organs.” Thankfully she is now on the mend and back to filming. Ashley celebrated her first day back on set with an Instagram post... 

Ah, zut alors! It looks like fans might have to wait a little longer to find out what happens next for Emily after the explosive revelations in the finale of Emily in Paris season 3. Production on Emily in Paris season 4 was expected to begin in late summer to early fall 2023, but now production is being pushed back two months and delay the new season's arrival. 

The third season of the popular Netflix series debuted in late December 2022, giving fans something fun to binge over the holidays. When the season ended with a bit of a cliffhanger, fans were left wondering when Emily in Paris season 4 would debut. 

Variety reports that production on the series was impacted by the ongoing writers' strike. In May, star Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu commented that things were still being worked out. "We're waiting for it to be resolved. We'll see how it settles," she said. 

Though the Writer's Guild of America strike pertains to US writers, it's having an impact around the world as streaming services like Netflix order content to be produced outside the US. Emily in Paris features screenwriters who are WGA members, which means the production is on hold for the duration of the strike. Initial reports are that production will be pushed back two months, but the delay could be even longer depending on how long the writer's strike lasts. 

Emily in Paris is the story of a marketing executive, Emily (Lily Collins) who is sent to Paris on behalf of her company. Her dream job quickly turns into something much more complicated as she navigates the complexities of being an American fish out of water, but Emily is determined to make the best of it. At the end of the third season, Emily's future in Paris is at a crossroads and fans have been eager to learn what happens next.

The series, which quickly became a hit for Netflix, stars Collins, Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Kate Walsh, Camille Razat, Lucas Bravo, Lucien Laviscount, Bruno Gouery and Samuel Arnold. 

As we await word on Emily in Paris season 4, now is a great time to catch up on the first three seasons of the series on Netflix. 

Emily in Paris bakery La Boulangerie Moderne has issued a statement asking fans to stop leaving negative reviews, where they've been accused of not living up to the hype.

The popular Netflix series made the Paris bakery famous. It is situated on the 5th arrondissement, and now sees 40 percent of its trade coming from fans of the show, but some fans have been less than complimentary about it.

According to the Emily in Paris wiki page, "Boulangerie Moderne is an artisanal bakery that serves up a variety of humble French pastries and fresh bread" and it's a place where the lead character goes often to buy pastries, particularly the iconic pain au chocolat.

But some fans have been left unimpressed by the real bakery, and some visiting the French capital have claimed that it's "all buzz and nothing else" and another said they were "very disappointed with the famous pain au chocolat", per Google Reviews.

The reviews are averaging 4.6 out of 5 at the time of writing, but the owners of Boulangerie Moderne are upset with fans who are expecting "incredible" products that they've seen on a TV series.

Bakery owner Thierry Rabineau told BFMTV News: "It's getting us down. Because of the series, people have the wrong expectations. They think our products are going to be incredible. But we have remained a classical neighborhood bakery. We never claimed to be anything else."

Meanwhile, his daughter Inès Rabineau, posted a video on TikTok hitting out at fans for leaving reviews, claiming fans of Emily in Paris had upset her father for expecting something bigger than they're able to provide.

She said: "My father is really hurt by this situation. A lot of people expect to find something out of this world but we are just a very traditional boulangerie. We're not here to sell you a dream."

Additionally, reports suggest that Parisian residents are becoming tired of the stream of tourists queueing up to take selfies in the quiet street outside, due to the fact Emily in Paris has made the bakery so famous.

Despite the backlash, the boulangerie has had a lot of positive reviews too with some praising the fast service and quality of food, with comments coming from fans of the show and from other customers.

That finale was packed with surprises, the biggest being: is Camille pregnant in Emily in Paris season 3? (Warning: Spoilers are ahead, obviously.)

In the Emily in Paris season 3 ending, Camille (Camille Razat) breaks off her engagement with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) at the altar due to him clearly still having feelings for Emily (Lily Collins)—but not letting him in on her own adulterous rendezvous with an artist at her gallery, Sofia (Melia Kreiling). 

In the final moments of the season 3 finale, Gabriel tells Emily that Camille returned from her Greek travels a few episodes earlier not just to reconcile her relationship with the chef but to tell him that she is pregnant with his child—and then Netflix rolled the credits, leaving us on yet another cliffhanger. 

Camille and Gabriel's relationship has been a tumultuous one since Emily in Paris season 1, especially with the addition of Emily and later Alfie, making for one messy love quadrangle going on in the third season. 

But a potential fan theory is mucking the mess up even further. Given that Camille has already been lying to Gabriel about the true nature of her connection to Sofia, and has been so insecure about his "friendship" with Emily as to make a pact with the latter to ensure she doesn't date him, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to think that the pregnancy news is just a ploy to make Gabriel stay with her and distract from her infidelity.

"I'm overthinking but Camille's mum told her 'the important thing is our plan worked'. what if Camille is not even pregnant ??" one viewer posited on Twitter. Emily in Paris fans had plenty to say about Camille's shocking baby news, with reactions ranging from frustration at yet another obstacle standing in Emily and Gabriel's way, to suspicions that Gabriel isn't even the father!

The series is known for being so bad it's good but Sylvie in Emily in Paris is getting props from fans for inspiring more pleasure than guilt when watching the Netflix hit.

Emily in Paris season 3, which debuted on the streaming platform on Wednesday, December 21, saw much change for Sylvie Grateau (played by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), the former Savoir executive who resigned from the agency during the Emily in Paris season 2 ending to kickstart her own boutique marketing firm, Agence Grateau, alongside faithful employees Luc (Bruno Gouery) and Julien (Samuel Arnold). 

There are frustrations with starting a company from the ground up—the agency is operating out of Sylvie's own apartment for the bulk of the season and Sylvie gets into a bit of career hot water with the luxury brand conglomerate JVMA (“I just made an enemy of the most powerful family in fashion," she says in episode 8)—but for the most part, her new venture is a professional success. 

What's a little dicier, however, is Sylvie's love life in season 3, as the effortlessly chic Parisian finds herself in a love triangle to rival the one Emily (Lily Collins), Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Camille (Camille Razat) have been entangled in since the start of the series. 

At the beginning of the third season, Sylvie is still involved with Erik (Søren Bregendal), the amateur photographer from Emily in Paris season 2, but things get complicated by the fact that Sylvie is technically still married to Laurent (Arnaud Binard), who makes frequent appearances in Sylvie's life, much to Erik's chagrin. 

A successful new business, multiple men fawning over her and a closet full of impeccable French fashions? It's no surprise why fans are obsessed with Sylvie.

Fans praise Sylvie in Emily in Paris season 3:

"I like her sassiness. I like her 'I take no BS' kind of thing. I like her vulnerability. I like that she is a boss, but she’s not one color. She’s multifaceted. We are discovering that she’s so complex, and I really like that," Leroy-Beaulieu said of her character to WWD.

And Emily in Paris viewers seem to agree wholeheartedly, based on the season 3 reactions floating around social media. "I watch Emily in Paris for one reason only and that is Sylvie Grateau," one Twitter user posted, with several others calling for the series to be renamed Sylvie in Paris...

It is a well-known fact that when Emily in Paris first hit Netflix a few years back, the Darren Star show swept away the streaming service subscribers thanks to the undeniable charm of its main character.

Emily, through her joie de vivre, how she stumbles her way through life in the French capital city, and her general kindness became an ex-pat all wanted to watch. 

Everyone loved it. Everyone, except the French.

For us Frogs, Emily in Paris was about as French as a donut and swam in a sea of clichés. Now onto Emily in Paris season 3, one could have hoped the show would have made progress in its writing and stopped relying so much on stereotypes to make Emily’s story more authentic. But, let’s face it, this is not the vibe of this over-the-top Netflix series.

Don’t get me wrong, sometimes Emily in Paris addresses some truths about France and French people, like how much we love our hour-and-a-half-long lunch breaks and chain smoking cigarettes, but it must also be noted that Emily’s Paris only exists in this show.

Here are some of the places the show is going wrong...

The Paris of the 1%

What kind of fairy tale life is this? Emily is a young marketing professional living in a giant chambre de bonne (spoiler alert: a real chambre de bonne is tiny and has shared toilets on the landing). She dresses in couture, never seems to need to use the Metro, and spends her entire paycheck on everything but regular life expenses. Her time in Paris is about eating at the best restaurants, drinking all le champagne, and taking the occasional trip to the south of France. 

There is absolutely no way Emily can afford her way of life, but a picture-perfect representation of Paris must be all about the glamorous, right? No one wants to see her spend time commuting to work on a busy train or get insulted by a driver for not crossing the road fast enough. Emily’s Paris is a fantasy and it’s too bad because putting Emily in some real situations, like fighting off pigeons on the parvis de Notre Dame, could maybe add a dash of reality to the show.

Leave the beret at home, Em

Paris may be the city of fashion but there are limits and in France, people will judge you without hiding it. Just like I am doing it right now writing these lines! So when Emily wears bright, knee-high socks in the middle of July and walks into the office looking like a pufferfish, French eyes are rolling. I mean, there’s a reason Pierre Cadault called her ringarde… And the berets! Enough with the berets! In season 3, Emily’s outfits are still over the top, and so are Sylvie’s, who is at times sophisticated and at others, well… not so much. 

Also, not everyone in Paris is constantly dressed to the nines. In season 3, there is a scene where Gabriel and Camille go to the Musée d’Orsay and not only are they gorgeous-looking in their fashionable outfits but everyone else on screen is as well. Anyone who has been to a museum in Paris will tell you it is packed with tourists waving cameras around and sporting their very best pair of breezy pants. The vibe is less Beyoncé and Jay-Z at the Louvre and more Britney going to the grocery store.

No one, absolutely no one, speaks that much English

In season 3, while the show has made more efforts to feature dialogue in French when all the characters in the room are French, there is a scene where Luc has an entire phone call with another French person and their conversation is in English. That is the most baffling thing, because for one thing, we suck at English. We are much too proud of our language to care about learning Shakespeare’s. The amount of English in the show is definitely there to make things easier for English-speaking audiences. 

In fact, Emily should be fluent by now. Just because she is American would not make her co-workers talk to her in English all the time. No one in Paris would be that accommodating. They might be at first when their attempts at speaking to you in French only causes them frustrations and headaches, but they will not keep it up for long, let alone a year. By the end of her time at Savoir, Emily should have been able to say much more than “Bonjour” and “merci” otherwise her coworkers would have sent her American postérieur straight back to Chicago. 

Cheats, seducers, and all about that sexy life

What’s with the never-ending parade of lovers? Don’t go to France expecting that you’ll have a torrid affair with multiple people and it will all be peachy. That isn’t necessarily the most common of habits, at all. Camille and Gabriel’s relationship is a trainwreck from the get-go, even by French standards, and the way the show brushes off Sylvie’s affairs (what’s more, with a client!) is borderline outrageous. 

No, French people are not all down with the ménage à trois and not all French women will be cool with their man having a maîtresse. We have no fear of PDAs, just as much as we are unafraid of public demonstrations of anger. We invented making a scene by throwing you or your things out if you cross the line.

Those mean French people

Okay, yes, French people, all over the country, not just in Paris (although in Paris they are especially good at it), can be grumpy, especially with strangers and tourists. That comes from a combination of lack of caffeine and hot-blooded tempers, but it’s not all of us. Emily sometimes witnesses this, like in season 3 when a client at Gabriel’s restaurant screams at her for messing up. There is no American cheerfulness there or British politeness, we go all out to express our anger.

The French in Emily in Paris can be petty and haughty like it's the case with Emily's co-workers (especially in the first season), and she continues to run into such people in season 3. But let’s face it, it’s funny because it’s a bit true.

Another season, another cliffhanger! Yes, the Emily in Paris season 3 ending left us with just as many questions and concerns as last season's, so we're here to break down everything that happened in that shocking season finale. 

Emily in Paris season 3 debuted on Netflix on Wednesday, December 21, continuing the Parisian adventures of our titular heroine, marketing pro Emily Cooper (Lily Collins), and her friends and coworkers in the City of Lights. 

Emily in Paris season 2 kickstarted several of the storylines that ran throughout the show's third season, including the love quadrangle between Emily, Alfie, Gabriel and Camille, and Mindy's on-again-off-again relationship with her bandmate Benoit. 

So how did all of the characters fare this time around? Here's everything to know about the Emily in Paris season 3 ending. (Spoilers obviously ahead!)

Emily in Paris season 3 ending explained

Going into the Emily in Paris season 3 finale, things between Emily and her BFF-slash-roommate Mindy (Ashley Park) are uncharacteristically frosty thanks to some tension with the latter's new boyfriend, Camille's close relationship with Greek artist Sofia has veered from professional to romantic—completely unbeknownst to her new fiancé Gabriel—and the Agence Grateau team is still trying to find their footing as a luxury marketing firm. Let's break it down:

Do Emily and Mindy make up?

By the end of the third season, things have gotten awkward between Emily and Mindy, due to the latter's new relationship with Nicolas de Léon (Paul Forman), the business scion of the powerful luxury conglomerate JVMA. 

Though initially friendly, professional tensions have heightened between Emily and Nicolas after she and the Agence Grateau crew sided with the designer Pierre Cadault, who Nicolas wants to dethrone from his own fashion house. "Emily, it put me in a really difficult position because my best friend humiliated my boyfriend... I just feel like you chose work over me," Mindy tells her in the penultimate episode.

It all comes to a head at the final night of Mindy's cabaret residency, when an angry Nicolas secretly tells Emily to leave. Mindy thinks Emily's early exit was a slight from her best friend but finds out the truth from Alfie in the season finale. 

"Emily didn't want to leave your party. She went to apologize to Nicolas and he told her to leave," Alfie says. "She didn't want to ruin your night. She's gonna be pissed that I told you, but I can't sit by and let that slide." 

"Neither can I," Mindy replies before going to clear the air with Emily. "I am so, so sorry for how Nico treated you," she says, hugging her. 

Mindy leaves to confront Nicolas about his behavior towards Emily. Nicolas agrees to meet her halfway, and later at Camille and Gabriel's engagement party in Champagne, he apologizes to Emily and asks for the two of them to start over. 

Does Mindy get back with Benoit?

Speaking of Mindy, her relationship with Nicolas is largely one-sided throughout the third season, with her frequently acting as his plus one to work events, family occasions, etc. Things get more complicated with the reappearance of Benoit, her ex-boyfriend and bandmate. 

Benoit shows up at her apartment in the season finale to tell her that he submitted their song "Mon Soleil" to the Eurovision Song Contest, and they were accepted. They hug and nearly kiss—until Mindy's phone rings, an incoming call from Nicolas.

By the season's end, Mindy is still technically with Nicolas, but that near-smooch seems to suggest that there's still something brewing between her and Benoit. 

Is Julien quitting Agence Grateau?

Work tensions are also seeping into the office of Agence Grateau, as Julien (Samuel Arnold) has become increasingly frustrated by Emily stealing his professional spotlight. During a pitch meeting for a brand that Julien secured, Emily can't help but make frequent suggestions to the clients, which causes Julien to lash out: "I don't need your pitches Emily!" he yells. "It's my client. Do you have an off-switch?"

He storms out and Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) goes to check on him, telling him that she will be more receptive to his concerns. He warns her that he's had headhunters trying to hire him at other companies, and the last we see of Julien, he's seemingly replying to one recruiter's email: "I've considered your offer. Please do not discuss with anyone."

What about Sylvie and Laurent?

Things are chugging along steamily between Sylvie and her not-so-ex-husband Laurent (Arnaud Binard), who spend most of the finale dancing in the streets and between the sheets. 

However, the honeymoon period is put on pause when Laurent informs the marketing exec that he's relocating to Paris to open a private membership club—that will be financed by Louis de Léon, the owner of JVMA who Sylvie royally pissed off a few episodes prior with that whole Pierre Cadault mess. 

Do Gabriel and Camille get married?

For much of the back half of season 3, Camille (Camille Razat) plays the part of the blushing bride-to-be—except Emily knows that she's actually cheating on Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) with Sofia (Melia Kreiling), an artist at her gallery, as she spotted the two kissing during one of Alfie's parties. 

Emily finally confronts Camille at her engagement party at her family's Champagne château. "You need to tell Gabriel, okay? He deserves to know," Emily tells her. "Why? it was just a fling and now it's over. Just like you and Gabriel, right?" Camille replies. 

None the wiser, Gabriel proposes an idea to Camille: why don't they just get married right then and there? "We have the priest, we have the chapel," he reasons. Camille happily agrees. 

However, when it's time for the couple to exchange their vows, it seems she has a change of heart: "Gabriel, the only reason we're together is because I knew you were in love with Emily," she tearfully tells him at the altar. She reveals to everyone the truth about her and Emily's pact to never date Gabriel, a promise Camille broke last season.

"Gabriel, you and Emily have been in love with each other since the moment you met. I can see it in your eyes," Camille says. "So now, I'm sorry, I really am, but I can't marry you. And it's time we all just stop pretending."

What happened between Emily and Alfie?

All is going well between Alfie and Emily until Camille's announcement at the altar. 

"I knew there was something. I knew it," Alfie says after hearing the truth about Emily and Gabriel's feelings for each other. "Sorry, but I'm nobody's second choice, Cooper."

"Go and get your man," Alfie tells her. When she tries to argue that he is her man, he stops her: "No, I'm not. And I don't think I ever really was," he says before leaving. 

Do Emily and Gabriel end up together?

Things are friendly between the sort-of exes at the beginning of the finale, with Emily outsourcing Luc to try and help Gabriel get a Michelin star at his reinvented restaurant, L'Espirit de Gigi. When Luc phones Emily during the engagement party to tell them that Gabriel will receive the prestigious honor, the duo can't help but embrace in celebration. 

"You came to grey Paris and brought the sunshine to all of us," Gabriel tells her. "You did this for me and I'll never forget it." Alas, Camille catches sight of said embrace, which no doubt has something to do with her public revelations during the nuptials. 

After the wedding that wasn't, Emily and Gabriel are left to deal with the debris. They admit they've always had feelings for each other, but there's one major thing standing in their way.  

"There's something you don't know," Gabriel begins. "Camille didn't come back from Greece to revive our relationship... she came back to tell me that she's pregnant."

"Oh my god," Emily utters—and then the credits roll.

Lily Colins as Emily Cooper

Emily in Paris wouldn't be Emily in Paris without, well... Emily! Lily Collins has played the 29-year-old aspiring marketing consultant from Chicago for three seasons now, and viewers can't get enough of Emily's life dramas as she continues to navigate her way through living in Paris after moving there for a social media job at the luxury French agency, Savoir. 

Fans of the show will know while Emily's career hasn't been easy thanks to that fish-out-of-water feeling she's struggled with since moving to the French capital, her love life has also been something of a rollercoaster — and that's putting it mildly! 

In season one she found herself caught in a love triangle between new friend Camille (Camille Razat) and hunky chef Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), which then became even messier when new romantic interest, Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), a handsome English ex-pat from Emily's French language class, was introduced in season 2. 

Lily played Fantine in the BBC adaptation of Les Misérables, co-starred with Zac Efron in the drama Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile and starred opposite Simon Pegg in the thriller Inheritance. 

Ashley Park as Mindy

Every main character needs a faithful sidekick, and Mindy is everything a girl needs in a BFF. Luckily for Emily, Mindy not only always has her back but she is also an excellent advice giver... so whether Emily is debating her complicated love life or making massive life choices, Mindy is there offering words of wisdom or a shoulder to cry on. 

Mindy also has her own life dramas and spent much of season 2 hiding the fact that she's actually the billionaire heiress of a Shanghai zipper manufacturing company and not a struggling busker like her bandmate and boyfriend Benoit. 

Ashley Park is an award-winning stage star most notably playing Gretchen Wieners in the 2018 Tony Award-nominated musical Mean Girls. She has also starred in films including Mr. Malcolm's List.

Lucas Bravo as Gabriel

Emily had barely stepped off the plane from Chicago when she bumped into Gabriel in her apartment block and fell head over heels for the hot French chef. Just one problemo though... Gabriel might be able to pull off those chef whites like no one else, but he also just so happens to be dating Emily's friend, Camille. Told you it was complicated.

Lucas Bravo has also appeared in movies including Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris and Ticket to Paradise. 

Lucien Laviscount as Alfie

What's the best way to forget your feelings for a handsome chef? Start dating a handsome English ex-pat of course! Alfie, played by former Coronation Street star Lucien Laviscount, came into Emily's life just at the right moment, and soon the pair hit it off quicker than you can say bonjour... but is Alfie the love of Emily's life? Or is he just a handy distraction? 

As well as Coronation Street, Lucien has also appeared in Snatch, Your Christmas or Mine? and Trust. 

Camille Razat as Camille

In season 1 Camille took Emily under her wing showing her around Paris as she found her feet in the new city. But while Emily soon formed a close bond with Camille, who also happens to have parents who run a successful French champagne company, she also found herself caught up in a complicated love triangle when she fell head over heels for Camille's boyfriend, Gabriel. Oops!

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie Grateau

Sylvie Grateau was the no-nonsense chief marketing officer for Savoir's in Paris when Emily arrived in the French capital and took little notice of the American girl who had come to work for her. Despite her hard-as-nails demeanor, Sylvie secretly developed a soft spot for Emily (despite the fact she can still speak very little French, something that drives Sylvie mad), and by the end of season 2, Sylvie offered Emily a new job working with her. 

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu is also known for her role as Monique Ritz in The Crown, and comedy-drama Call My Agent!

Kate Walsh as Madeline Wheeler

Madeline is the Director of Marketing at the Gilbert Group and is the woman responsible for Emily's move from Chicago to Paris. While Sylvie is chillier than a winter's morning in Paris, Emily's American boss couldn't be more different, entering the room like a whirlwind of warmth. The two women clashed from the moment they met, not only because they are so different in personality, but also because they are polar opposites when it comes to business. Madeline cares deeply about Emily... something that doesn't come naturally to Sylvie. 

Kate Walsh has starred in countless TV shows including Grey's Anatomy, Bad Judge, 13 Reasons Why and The Umbrella Academy. 

Season 3 also sees Emily's work contacts returning... Bruno Gouery is back as Luc, Samuel Arnold returns as Julien and Christophe Bouvet as French designer Pierre Cadault.

What happens in Emily in Paris season 3?

While we don't want to ruin the new season for anyone who hasn't watched it, one thing we can say is that Emily has reached a turning point in her life in Paris and she needs to make some big decisions.  

The official synopsis from Netflix reads: "One year after moving from Chicago to Paris for her dream job, Emily finds herself at a crucial crossroads in every aspect of her life. Faced with two very different paths, Emily will have to decide exactly where her loyalties lie — at work and in her romantic life — and what those decisions mean for her future in France, all while continuing to immerse herself in the adventures and surprising twists and turns that life in Paris provides."

Emily in Paris creator Darren Star also told TVLine: "She has reasons to pick a number of doors at the end of season two, and our challenge is deciding which of those doors she's going to choose and why. That's what season three is going to be about.

"When you live in a foreign country, one of the questions is, where's your heart? Is it the place you came from, or the place you are at the moment? Emily is going to be struggling with that as well."

What happened at the end of Emily in Paris season 2?

The end of season 2 saw Emily facing some major life decisions, not only in her career but also in her love life. 

First her career was thrown into question when Sylvie handed in her notice at Savoir, with the rest of the team following suit. Sylvie later then surprised Emily by offering her a job in her new team, along with Julien and Luc. 

But will Emily embrace life in Paris and take the new job offer? Or does she still feel a tie to Madeline, her boss from in Chicago, who has promised her a promotion? The very last scene of the series saw Emily calling Sylvie with her answer, but the show ended before we heard her answer... gah! 

But Emily's career isn't the only drama in her life. There is also her ever complicated love life to deal with, too. At the end of season two Emily realised (at last!) that she is head over heels in love with chef Gabriel, despite finding romance with British banker Alfie. 

With Alife heading back to the UK now that his work in Paris has finished, it seems the perfect time for Emily and Gabriel to officially make a go of things. However, not only does Alife want to make their romance work long-distance, but there is also the small matter of Gabriel's on/off girlfriend and Emily's love rival, Camille. Will Emily ever be lucky in love?

Emily Cooper is back to say 'bonjour!' yet again, but a refresher of that Emily in Paris season 2 ending is essential before yet another season of fabulous designer fashions, dramatic love triangles and general French hijinks hits Netflix. (And if you need an even deeper catch-up, revisit our Emily in Paris season 1 recap.)

Emily in Paris season 2, which saw Lily Collins' Emily assimilate even further into France (well, sort of—she's still far from fluent) and continues to explore her relationships with Mindy, Gabriel, Camille and the Savoir crew, aired its shocking finale in December 2021. 

And ever since, we've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of Emily in Paris season 3 and hopefully the answers to all of our lingering questions from that season 2 cliffhanger. 

What happens at the end of Emily in Paris season 2?

Emily in Paris follows Emily Cooper, a 29-year-old aspiring marketing consultant from Chicago who moved to Paris in season one for a temporary social media gig at the luxury French agency Savoir. 

Along with some fish-out-of-water discomfort on the job, Emily also gets into a conflict of the amour sort in season one, namely a love triangle between new friend Camille (Camille Razat) and hunky chef Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), that becomes even messier when a new romantic interest comes into the fold in the second season. 

Season two ends with Emily torn, not only professionally but romantically. Which monsieur does Emily choose? And will her job have her staying in Paris or returning to the states? Here's a primer on everything that happened during that Emily in Paris season 2 ending.

Who does Emily in Paris end up with season 2?

Our titular heroine spends much of the second season trying to get over her feelings for Gabriel and stay true to her friendship with Camille by cozying up to Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), a handsome English ex-pat from her French language class. 

Her budding relationship with the businessman is put to the test, however, in the season two finale when Alfie proposes the couple enter a long-distance relationship now that he has to move back to London for work. After all, it’s only a Eurostar train ride away.

In discussing her options with her BFF and roommate Mindy (Ashley Park), however, Emily slips and reveals that she still has feelings for Gabriel, saying: "I never used to be this person in Chicago, I had a career path and a life plan and I didn't fall in love with my friend's boyfriend." 

"You need to decide what you want and not what’s going to make everyone else happy," Mindy advises her friend. 

Realizing the full extent of her feelings for the chef, Emily rushes over to Gabriel's apartment to confess her love. However, she sadly discovers that not only are on-again-off-again couple Camille and Gabriel officially on again, but they're also moving in together. 

Technically, Emily ends season two still romantically linked to Alfie, but the tears she sheds after finding out about Gabriel and Camille don't exactly instil confidence in her relationship with him. 

Does Mindy get back together with Benoit?

And Emily isn't the only one weathering romantic drama in their life. Mindy spends much of season two hiding the fact that she's actually the billionaire heiress of a Shanghai zipper manufacturing company and not a struggling busker like her bandmate and boyfriend Benoit (Kevin Dias).

However, the ruse is revealed when their other bandmate Étienne (Jin Xuan Mao) spills a little too much tea about Mindy to a Chinese journalist, who knows all about that viral fiasco from when Mindy was appearing on Chinese Popstar. Mindy's deception and the reality of her financial situation cause a strain on her relationship with Benoit, but luckily things are looking up by the season's end.

After Étienne gives Mindy a recording of "Mon Soleil," a song Benoit wrote for her, the former couple performs the track together during a band gig at a Chinese supper club in the season two finale. Their swoon-worthy duet leads to them seemingly rekindling their romance, ending their performance with a kiss. 

Does Emily choose Sylvie or Madeline?

And it's not just romance that's giving Emily grief in the season two finale. In episode seven, Emily's American boss Madeline Wheeler (Kate Walsh) flies in from the Chicago corporate headquarters to check up on the Savoir team in Paris, helmed by the very French Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu).

Once there, Madeline frequently butts heads with Sylvie over their differing management styles and intentions for Savoir's future. All of that bubbling professional tension comes to a boil when Savoir hosts the Versailles fashion show of over-the-top designer Grégory Elliott Duprée (Jeremy O. Harris), a seeming snub to longtime couture client Pierre Cadault (Jean-Christophe Bouvet). 

When Cadault cuts ties with Savoir, Madeline blames Sylvie and says she will be put under review at corporate, but Sylvie ends up resigning in the season two finale, fittingly titled "French Revolution." The marketing executive then decides to start a whole new agency altogether, taking Emily's Savoir colleagues Luc (Bruno Gouery) and Julien (Samuel Arnold) with her, as well as the agency's Rolodex of clients. 

Though Emily is at first hurt that she wasn't included in the team's plans, Sylvie soon offers her the chance to join the new marketing firm. But our heroine is conflicted: joining Sylvie's team would mean relocating more permanently to the City of Lights, but keeping her loyalty to Madeline would entail returning to her hometown of Chicago and moving up the corporate ladder at Savoir's parent company, the Gilbert Group.

So what does Emily choose? At the very end of the season two finale, Emily, still emotional from discovering Gabriel and Camille back together, is seen calling Sylvie to announce that she's made a decision. But, of course, the screen cuts to black before fans can hear exactly what that decision will be. 

That means you'll have to stay tuned for Emily in Paris season 3, which is streaming on Netflix from Wednesday, December 21! 

There’s a lot more singing in Emily in Paris season 2 and for a good reason. Emily’s bestie Mindy (played by Ashley Park) starts dedicating time and effort to her music career in Paris (after a failed attempt in China), which means her character gets to belt out some amazing tunes.

“Mon Soleil”, the original song Ashley Park sings in the season finale, was created with her friend Freddy Wexler (who wrote "Stuck with You" for Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande). Ashley told British Vogue: “Darren [Star, the show’s creator] had come up to me and said, ‘I think we should do an original song.’ I was like, ‘Great. I don’t read music though.’ Luckily, my friend Freddy Wexler was available to collaborate… It’s Stevie Wonder vibes, but French, romantic and very pop.”

She also covered BTS’ “Dynamite”, which got the attention of one of the band’s members. RM reacted to it with a video on social media, which Ashley later shared, adding: “Honestly still on a high from this. RM giggling and Huh-ing was my peak.”

Emily in Paris star Lily Collins has shared a story about a hilarious encounter she had with Princess Diana when she was just a child. 

Appearing on The Late Late Show With James Corden, Lily was presented with an adorable photo of her being held by her parents handing over a bunch of flowers to the Princess of Wales. 

When James Corden asked her if she remembered the event, Lily explained that she didn't remember it but someone else had told her she tried to steal the flowers back from Diana!

She said: "That’s my mom and my dad and I and it’s at a Prince’s Trust event and I’m giving Diana flowers, but the second that she went to take them, I then tried to pull them back.

"So, as you can imagine, all the air was sucked out of the room. But then again, I was wearing a cute dress so who's going to really punish me", she joked.

Lily went on to share another funny story of one encounter she had with Prince Charles around the same time. 

She said: "When I was younger I was playing with some toys with Prince Charles and I proceeded to kind of like, throw something at him, like throw a toy telephone at his head, which, again, all the air was sucked out of the room."

According to Lily, this happened around the same time as the photo, so she thinks she was also just two years old at the time. She added that the reason she'd had several royal encounters was because of her father's charity work. 

Lily, currently to be seen in Emily in Paris season 2, said: "my dad did a lot of stuff with the Prince's Trust and I grew up in England, I'm British", later adding "I just went along for the ride and I guess I had a tendency to do naughty things as a two-year-old."

Emily in Paris is one of the most binge-worthy shows on Netflix right now, and finally, Emily in Paris season 2 has arrived on the streaming service. But while the rest of the world can't get enough of Emily's antics in the French capital, what do Parisians actually think of the show?

Lily Collins, who plays the titular role in the comedy recently joined James Corden on The Late Late Show to talk about the new season which arrived on Netflix last month after the hugely popular first season, and she admitted that she was initially apprehensive about what the French would make of the show... 

"We had heard after season one that the French had not wanted to embrace the show," she told host James Corden. "But when we went back for season 2 it couldn't have been more of the opposite. Everyone was so embracing of the show and so excited for us to be there."

Lily also admitted that she and co-star Ashley Park, who plays Emily's best friend Mindy Chen, often drew crowds of fans while they were in the city for filming.

"Ashley and I were in quarantine when we first got there, in fact, we were the only Americans in the whole of Paris because of covid regulations and shutdowns. But when we go out we tend to speak quite loudly and animatedly like we do when we are out as friends, and so we stick out like a sore thumb.

"All these people would come over and be like 'oh is Mindi and Emily, oh wow you are in Paris, do you live here?' and we would be like 'no, it is Ashley and Lily' and they really felt like we were the show, and they went wild for it and it was really lovely."

While most of us can't get enough of Emily's French adventures, it seems not everyone is a fan of the show, because Lily also joked about the fact someone had defaced a poster of the new season.

Thankfully Lily thought the whole thing was hilarious, and told James she couldn't resist taking a picture of the graffiti to share on her own Instagram page...

"I hadn't seen any posters yet, and then we saw one that had been vilely defaced. I was given a whole new makeup job and, as you do, you take a photo with it, because why not embrace it, right?!"

Emily Cooper is back for another season of Emily in Paris and, while it started off slow, the second installment of her Parisian adventures didn’t disappoint. 

Despite being known as a "love-to-hate" show when it premiered in October 2020, it still became Netflix’s top comedy of 2020. So while not many proclaim their love (or even like) for Emily proudly, it’s clear she has quite a few fans — even if they tune in just to criticize her. 

So what's new this time around? We dive in… 

*be warned: spoilers ahead*

 Bonjour St Tropez

One of the biggest selling points of Emily in Paris is the escapism it provides which, let’s face it — has been much needed since the pandemic started. While last time we were treated to plenty of Paris scenery (and continued to get plenty of it in season 2), this time around Emily took us out of Paris and off on a trip to St Tropez. 

What was meant to be a romantic getaway with Mathieu Cadaul, turned into a very weird girls’ trip after Mathieu overhears Emily speaking to Gabriel about their steamy night together. What makes the whole situation even more awkward? The fact that Camille joins Emily, desperate to forget about Gabriel and completely unaware that Emily and Gabriel got together behind her back. Ah, chérie… 

We confess that Emily’s need to redeem herself, by getting those two back together, without coming clean to Camille first didn’t get us off to a great start, but St Tropez looks gorgeous!

 Mindy gets some action… 

…figuratively and literally. The zipper Princess is getting her own plotlines — finally! Mindy (Ashley Park) has been a good friend to Emily since they met in season 1, but it was about time she had a bit more going on than providing advice whenever Emily is in some kind of trouble (which could actually be a full-time job, but probably not a very enjoyable — or well paid — one). 

So it was good to see Mindy go after her dreams of becoming a singer in Paris, fall in love with Benoit, have a romantic and personal growth setback, and overcome them during a tear-inducing power ballad. Talk about main character energy! Watch out, Emily… 

 Camille becomes the villain

Even though she was the one being wronged here, Camille (Camille Razat) managed to become the villain of the show in the second season. After trying and failing to get over Gabriel and finding out about his affair with Emily (all because of a frying pan, how fitting for a chef), Camille enters the spotlight with an explosive birthday toast to Emily (a scene topped only by her outfit, my personal favorite in the entire show). Seeing Emily trying to win her friendship back was painful, especially when she attempts to write a letter in French — which also becomes one of the funniest moments of the season. But, after Camille confesses to her mother that she wants Gabriel back, they come up with a plan that starts by convincing Emily to agree to a pact where neither of them gets to have him. Much to Emily’s surprise (who was distracted by someone else), Camille gets her way, and the two move in together. So much for the girls’ pact…

Alfie enters the scene

Remember Emily’s distraction that we mentioned above? It goes by the name of Alfie. The British man who resists learning French, or enjoying anything authentic Paris has to offer, is Emily’s rebound as she tries to convince herself she’s over the chef. It works for a while — especially because Alfie goes from obnoxious Romeo to a sensitive wannabe boyfriend who's keen to try a long-distance relationship when he has to move back to London. In today’s dating scene, that change of heart is hard to resist for any lady — even one who’s still in love with hot chef Gabriel.

Sylvie gets savage

Sylvie was already a fan favorite from season 1, but now she’s really nailed it. Not only did she have a secret hot husband in the south of France running a beach club she helped start (while taking candid pictures of people), she also bagged herself a young photographer hottie, stood up to ageist standards and oh — did we mention she stood up to the American corporate world? The woman is a stiletto-walking legend. It’s truly satisfying seeing her win the last battle (or maybe the first?) against the Gilbert Group — the company that bought Savoir.

 Emily finally gets vulnerable

As we said, things start a bit slow in season 2 but start to pick up towards the end of the season and culminate in the final episode — when we finally see Emily get vulnerable. 

As Luc says, “Must you control everything, Emily?” It’s been that way throughout the show. Then she finally reaches the realization that sometimes we need to let life run its course and accept that things might turn out differently than we hoped they would. Seeing Emily accept that yes, she used to “want the things she’s supposed to want but doesn’t anymore” seems like the most genuine moment of the entire show. It’s then followed by the heart-breaking discovery that Gabriel is back with Camille. The fact that she might have lost her shot at love with Gabriel doesn’t make it any less inspiring that Emily finally realizes and accepts what she really wants.

 Emily’s move to Paris hit a few bumps in the road

We started off with Emily Cooper’s big move to Paris from Chicago, where she had a serious long-term boyfriend, Doug. The work opportunity came from the marketing agency she worked for in the States, who asked her to spend some time in the new boutique agency they acquired (Savoir). 

As expected, Emily was excited to have a Parisian adventure but it doesn’t start off in the best way — her colleagues aren’t big fans of the new American on the block who doesn't even speak basic French... (who can forget the infamous insult "Bonjour, la plouc"), her relationship doesn’t survive the distance and she generally feels as though she'll never fit in in her new city.

But, eventually, it all works itself out

Emily’s bad luck at work doesn’t last long, as she starts to collect a few big wins. Although her boss, Sylvie, seems to enjoy making her life difficult, Cooper’s marketing campaign for a menopausal product — "the vagina is not male" — goes viral, even being shared by France’s First Lady, Brigitte Macron. Her own personal profile (@emilyinparis), where she documents her new life, also starts to grow, turning her into an accidental, but influential, influencer.

 She also got lucky (sort of) in love

Work isn’t the only thing keeping Miss Cooper busy in season 1 of Emily in Paris — she’s in the city of love, after all! From the annoying philosophy teacher Thomas and a big client’s nephew (Mathieu Cadault) to Antoine (another client... someone should tell her not to mix business with pleasure!) and the French guy who has a thing for American women (and let’s not forget her drunken dalliance with Camille’s younger brother, who is just 17😨) — Emily has her hands très full with French men. 

 The Gabriel drama

Although plenty tried, Emily only seems to have eyes for neighbor Gabriel. The two start flirting early on in the show (pretty much from the word "enchanté" — "nice to meet" you for the uninitiated) and they eventually kiss. 

However, Emily finds out later that he has a girlfriend, Camille. They decide to stay away from each other but end up kissing again during a night out in a club. The chemistry between them continues to build until the inevitable happens... They have goodbye sex — because Gabriel was supposed to leave Paris the next day to open his own restaurant in Normandy. Things really take a turn to Complicated Land when Emily finds out that her neighbor-turned-lover is actually staying. Even worse, it's all because Antoine (remember Emily’s client who also wanted to woo her?) decided to invest in Gabriel’s business. Guess who breaks the news to her? Camille, the girlfriend. Yikes!  

Friendships started

Yes, there are plenty of romantic liaisons but Cooper had some time for platonic relationships too. During season 1 she makes friends with Mindy Chen — a Chinese woman who studied in the US and now works as a nanny in Paris after failing at her dream of becoming a singer, while her rich parents back in China hope she’ll come back one day to take over the family’s zipper business. She also eventually grows close to Camille — that is before finding out she’s actually Gabriel’s girlfriend. Mindy calls them "faux amis" (false friends), because of their, ahem, conflicting interests…

Ready for more Parisian sights? Emily in Paris is returning for season 2 just before Christmas to bring some glitz and color into our lives. The show was Netflix’s most popular comedy in 2020 — with 58 million households worldwide watching it in the first month after its release. Shortly after, a second season was confirmed, with show creator Darren Star telling Glamour he’s “thrilled to be returning to Paris for a second season to continue Emily’s adventures in the magical ‘City of Light’”.  

And he’s not the only one who’s excited. Leading lady, Lily Collins, said she was honored to be part of a show that provided escapism while most of the world was still stuck at home due to the pandemic. 

“Not only did playing Emily teach me more about myself, but also about the world around me. I couldn’t be happier to be back in Paris for Season 2 to expand upon those lessons, to continue to grow, and learn even more about this beautiful city and all of its character with Emily”, she added.

The road to the second installment wasn’t without some controversy though. The show receiving two Golden Globe nominations started a backlash against the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (who overlooked Black-led projects like Michaela Coel’s I May Destroy You and Issa Rae’s Insecure) — after it was revealed that the HFPA had no Black journalists and that over 30 of its members visited the set of Emily in Paris. Next year’s Globes ceremony is not being broadcast as a result of the controversy.  Collins saw it as a chance to improve the show, broadening and diversifying the show's outlook, telling Entertainment Online, "There were certain conversations that we became a part of [such as the Golden Globes]... and while I don’t think I expected to be thrown into it in the way in which we were, I felt like it was definitely an opportunity to be able to do better in season 2."

Emily in Paris follows the adventures of Emily, an American marketing executive from Chicago, who is sent to Paris to help out at the boutique marketing agency her big corporate firm just acquired. Along the way, she develops feelings for her neighbor Gabriel who, annoyingly, is already taken.

Despite Emily being close friends with Gabriel's girlfriend, Camille, the pair slept together in the final episode — supposedly as a goodbye before he leaves for Normandy to set up his own restaurant. Then, in a surprise twist Emily's client Antoine invests in Gabriel's Parisian restaurant — which means he can stay... What now? 

Season 2 of the show sees Emily venture off to new places in France, while she figures out what to do about Gabriel and his girlfriend/her (supposed) friend Camille. 

Darren Starr, the creator of the show (and Sex and the City), told TVLine: “What happens in the next chapter, I think, can be a real exploration of how does the relationship, between these three characters, evolve. That, to me, is such a fun thing to explore in Season 2, because these are not Americans. They’re French people. To me, a big part of the show is looking at everything through a different lens. Season 2 will open up some interesting and surprising relationship avenues.”

It’s not all about Gabriel though — expect more love interests (hello, Alfie) and Emily taking Sylvie’s advice to do Paris ‘right’: “You’ve got the rest of your life to be as dull as you want. But while you’re here, fall in love, make mistakes. If you’re going to do Paris for one year, do it right.” Oh, la la!

Netflix has been dropping lots of fun trailers for the new season. The first season 2 trailer dropped in late November and shows Emily coming clean to Mindy about her passionate night with Gabriel and the fact that Camille doesn’t know what went down. Emily feels like her life is in chaos (unlike her life back in the States) but boss Sylvie tells her to embrace the mess — we’ll see where that takes her!

In the summer, we got a teaser showing us Emily having a great time on vacation in St. Tropez, joined by Mindy and... gulp, Camille.

 Who’s in the cast?

Lily Collins heads up the Emily in Paris cast, as Emily. Ashley Park plays her fellow ex-pat friend and aspiring singer Mindy Chen, who’s living in Paris to get away from the ‘Chinese Zipper King’ — her father — who expects her to take over the family zipper manufacturing business one day. 

The rest of the cast includes plenty of glamorous French stars, as you’d expect: Lucas Bravo (romantic interest, Gabriel), Camille Razat (Gabriel’s girlfriend, Camille), Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Emily's mean boss, Sylvie), Samuel Arnold (office partner-in-crime, Julien) and William Abadie (flirtatious client Antoine). 

We’re also getting some fresh faces for season 2 of Emily in Paris. British actor Lucien Laviscount will play Alfie, yet another romantic interest for our chère Emily, while French actor Arnaud Binard will play the owner of a popular Saint Tropez nightclub. We’ll also have Jeremy O. Harris playing Gregory, an iconic fashion designer and former protégé of designer Pierre Cadault, who’s now his rival.

Will there be an Emily in Paris season 3 and when will it come out? 

Yes, there will... Netflix has just announced Emily in Paris season 3 and season 4! So now we know we've got at least two more seasons and many more adventures of Emily, Mindy, Alfie and chef Gabriel to look forward to.

As we gear up to head to the city of love for Emily in Paris season 2, it’s only fair to take a romantic stroll down memory lane and remind ourselves just why so many people fell in love with Emily and co. After all, despite some controversy along the way and a fair amount of annoyance from the too-cool-for-school brigade, Emily in Paris became Netflix's most-watched comedy of 2020 and for good reason.

The show gave viewers worldwide a chance to escape the dreaded C word — while we were chained to our couches, Emily Cooper took us on a much-needed French adventure filled with croissants, color and crushes. So here are all the things we love about Emily in Paris, and all the reasons we’re excited for season 2 to arrive.

Funny phrases

Emily’s time in Paris is not exactly a walk in the park, to begin with, especially because she doesn’t know the language — or as she would put it, the Rosetta Stone training she did on the plane hasn’t kicked in yet. That gave her colleagues the perfect excuse to use French insults on her. Cue ringarde (basic) and la plouc (a hick) instantly being added to our vocabulary.

The outfits

Just in case you forgot, Emily in Paris is brought to us by Darren Star, who also created Sex And The City. And while the comparisons with the show may start and end there, the over-the-top fashion statements do remind us of some of the ensembles we saw Carrie and co sporting on the NYC streets all those years ago. As well as feasting our eyes on Emily’s loud prints and vibrant colors, we also get to admire the oh-so-sophisticated Parisian style of her boss, Sylvie Grateau.

 French clichés

Spotting the French clichés on Emily in Paris would have made a fantastic drinking game — let’s face it, they were hard to miss.

French people on social media were not very amused by some of the clichés in how Parisians were portrayed, but it turns out that some of them are true. Actor Lucas Bravo revealed to People the one stereotype on the show that is definitely true — smoking after the gym.

“For me the biggest cliché, so to speak — that actually is so true — is people smoking after the gym. It's so true," he told the publication. “You know, 'Oh, after this big effort, the lungs are perfectly open and ready to receive some nicotine, so let's smoke a cigarette. It is so French, and I was actually surprised that he [creator, Darren Star] put that in the show. It was really funny." 

Gabriel

Enchanté. One word was all it took for the world to collectively sigh and fall in love with Gabriel — Emily’s neighbor played by French actor, Lucas Bravo. While there’s something to be said about his intentions with Emily while being with his girlfriend Camille (not doing any favors for French men’s reputation), he still won us over. Was it the fact he can cook or the French accent? We’re torn… 

Emily's phone case

Given that Emily spent most of her time in Paris snapping pictures of the food, the sights and herself (not a particularly enlightened social strategy but hey, it worked for her), it’s no wonder we got obsessed with her phone case.

The vintage camera-like case from a brand called Awsaccy became a hit after the show dropped on Netflix and, it turns out, it was actually owned by the show’s costume designer, Patricia Field.

The scenery

The show’s success has been attributed to the opportunity it provided for escapism — at a time when most people couldn’t just jump on a plane to Paris. From sights of the flashing lights of the Eiffel Tower and cute bakeries to art galleries and the river Seine, seeing Emily enjoy the best of what Paris has to offer gave us plenty of distractions from travel bans and canceled plans.

The friendships

Okay, hear us out. Yes, Emily in Paris is mostly about l’amour et la passion, but it does a pretty good job at showcasing how good friendships are equally important and just as fun. Emily’s time in Paris becomes a lot more enjoyable once she starts hitting it off with new pal Mindy, and gets even better when she becomes friends with Camille (minus the awkward I-might-be-in-love-with-your-boyfriend situation). We see the trio head off to St Tropez in the trailer for the season 2, so here’s to more gal pal times!

Emily in Paris has been renewed for a second season at Netflix after a huge influx of watches on the series' first season. 

This renewal comes in wake of French critics roasting the show for being an insipid look at their culture. The series favors French stereotypes over any sort of reality, which sparked some drama with the aforementioned international critics and led to the below statement from series creator Darren Star.

"The show is a love letter to Paris through the eyes of this American girl who has never been there. The first thing she is seeing is the clichés because it's from her point of view. I'm not sorry for looking at Paris through a glamorous lens. It's a beautiful city, and I wanted to do a show that celebrated that part of Paris."

The combination of lack of understanding from Star as to why French critics would be annoyed by the depiction of their country combined with vocal irritation from critics and fans alike led to viewers watching 676 million minutes of the series within its first week of release. (Nielson now releasing data on streamers gives us insight while, in the past, we merely had to assume the information Netflix was giving us was correct.)

Hate-watching has become a strange phenomenon among consumers. We saw the same thing lead to a renewal of HBO's The Vow very recently. Meanwhile, fan-favorites like GLOW, Santa Clarita Diet, etc. continue to get cancelled because they don't pull in the same number of viewers. It's an unfortunate trend, but one that we're in all the same.

Those hate-watches didn't account for all of the series' viewership. Some folks simply wanted to escape to a different country while being stuck at home for the fifth month in a row. Others were looking for something empty. Nothing wrong with either of those things! 

Perhaps Season 2 of Emily in Paris will take the feedback from those actually engrossed in the culture and take its time to be respectful rather than empty.

Open up Netflix and catch a glimpse of the in-no-way-manipulated-why-would-you-even-think-such-a-thing Top 10 list and you'll find a wide-eyed Emily in Paris, a new Netflix original series from Darren Star, who you'll remember from Sex And The City fame from the late 1990s.

A lot has changed in 20 years, though. First, having a show with "Sex" in the title won't land the way it did back then. And viewers aren't as prudish as we once were. Then there's the fact that maybe 2020 — and especially this 2020 in this version of the multiverse — maybe doesn't need another white character finding their way in a big, diverse city while simultaneously all but failing to acknowledge that diversity in any meaningful way.

But here we are, with Emily in Paris on the Netflix Top 10.

That's not to say there aren't some redeeming qualities in what otherwise is a pretty vapid 10-episode series that thankfully breaks 30 minutes only once. It's just that none of them has anything to do with the title character.

First, the good: Emily in Paris is set, appropriately enough, in Paris. (With a few days' worth of shooting in Chicago for plot reasons.) If you're going to shoot a mostly superficial series, there are worse places to do it. And the folks behind the camera did a masterful job here. All the important landmarks are there, used often, and used well. It's gratuitous and perhaps more than a little cliche — but that also perfectly sets the tone for the series.

The gist is that Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) is a young, low-level marketing rep who suddenly gets to move to Paris after her firm acquires a French company and her middle-age boss (Kate Walsh) turns out to be pregnant. Emily doesn't know the language. It's possible she's never even been out of the country before. Her boyfriend Doug (Roe Hartrampf) is kind of lukewarm on the idea. Whatever. Because exactly what you think is going to happen with him is, in fact, going to happen.

Emily shows up in Paris and the worker bees at Savoir have no idea she was coming. Suspend disbelief there for a minute. Her new boss Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu)  couldn't care less about some Size 0 American girl showing up with all sort of newfangled social media ideas, except that Emily keeps making things work and making things happen, all while documenting her new life in France on a generic-looking Instagram with the "Emily in Paris" username. (And, yes, Netflix actually has that Insta account.)

It wouldn't be Paris without a bit of romance, and it wouldn't be France without a bit of complicated romance. The long-distance thing with Doug is going nowhere fast. (Her corded vibrator shorting out the ancient electrical in her building is, I imagine, all-too-real, though.) The married older men have no problem flirting, and then escalating that flirtation beyond what Americans would consider acceptable decades ago, never mind in the me-too era. Being gifted La Perla lingerie by a married client? Not great. Emily opening the box at her desk where her boss can see that someone just bought her a very expensive bra? Also not the best of ideas.

Then there's Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) — Emily's downstairs neighbor whose door she keeps attempting to get through (seriously, it doesn't take that long to remember that the first floor actually starts on the second floor), and who has that sort of laid back, European casualness about him that those of us with funny American accents like to think we can pull off when we're abroad. (Pro tip: We can't. Just go with it.) He's also a chef at a restaurant near their building, which builds into a decent little arc. There's obvious (and instant) chemistry here, and it's come at the perfect time. Emily could use a friend.

She finds a couple others in Mindy Chen (Ashley Park), who's working in Paris as a nanny while hiding from her rich and controlling family in China. And then there's Camille (Camille Razat), who's immediately a little too nice to Emily and is a breath of fresh air considering all the other French people have been a little too stereotypically French. Something just has to be wrong with Camille — and it turns out that something is named Gabriel.

Conflict is what makes stories worth telling, of course. And for the most part Emily in Paris has a pretty forgettable story. She causes one disaster after another either by virtue of her age or Americanism (or both), then manages to bail herself out either by virtue of her age or Americanism (or both), all while employing the magical new techniques of "social media" that she too often describes as if she's peddling magic beans to this land of simpletons. 

That Emily's own growing social media standing would lead to larger wins on a major professional level is mostly fantastical. Though all-too-real is her experience at an "influencer event." It's painful and perfect.

Don't head into Emily In Paris hoping for anything more than what you see on the poster. Slightly inappropriate fashion on someone who's not old enough to know better yet, and slightly inappropriate behavior from everyone from all directions. It's a decidedly PG-13 affair, for the most part. It's a reminder that perhaps Insta-life really isn't the direction we want Planet Earth to go.

Why watch, then? Because it's four-and-a-half hours of television that will remind you there is a world outside your home. That one day we might once again be able to travel and experience other countries and bungle our way through first contact with other cultures. Because it's Paris, damn it. Because it's food and wine and art and fashion and, yes, for some perhaps a little romance.

It's fun and fleeting, at times memorable, and at times absolutely forgettable. Which exactly is what a stint in Paris in your 20s should be.
