The 2025 Daytime Emmy Award nominations have been announced, and the What to Watch team has been counting down to the big ceremony on October 17.

As I personally wait to see who will walk away with some gold hardware when the time comes, I’ve gone through several of the Emmy categories to offer my take on who should win. Previously, I made my arguments for why The Young and the Restless’ Eileen Davidson and Courtney Hope should respectively win for Outstanding Lead Actress and Outstanding Supporting Actress. Now it’s time to tackle the Outstanding Supporting Actor category.

This year’s nominees for Outstanding Supporting Actor are no surprise, as they all delivered an amazing body of work in 2024. Take The Young and the Restless’ Michael Graziadei, for example. Graziadei did a bang-up job portraying a grieving Daniel Romalotti, who was wrestling with difficult emotions after losing the love of his life in Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom). Not only that, the Daniel character had to fight for his freedom after being framed for Heather's murder, and be a supportive father to a daughter who lost her mother.

Days of Our Lives’ Blake Berris was also a standout portraying Everett/Bobby. The dissociative identity disorder storyline usually pushes an actor to dive deep into their reservoir of talent to effectively play different people in the same soap, and Berris didn’t disappoint.

The rest of the supporting actor category this year is rounded out by General Hospital actors, all of whom are no longer present on the canvas of the show yet are incredibly deserving of a win.

First, there’s longtime General Hospital star Jonathan Jackson. Many fans welcomed Jackson’s return to the soap as Lucky Spencer, and he was tied into a few life-or-death scenarios. He popped back on the canvas trying to escape a deadly hostage situation with Sidwell (Carlo Rota), was devastated he couldn’t be the one to save his sister’s life and he became the first person to learn that Kristina (Kate Mansi) tried to kill the love of his life Elizabeth (Rebecca Hearst), who it was also nice to see him reconnect with after all these years.

Gregory Harrison was also exceptional as Gregory Chase in General Hospital. Although his time on the show was brief, I can’t deny how impactful it was watching Harrison’s Gregory Chase struggle with ALS, while making a profound impact on the lives of his family members and friends. His last moments as Gregory Chase, in particular, were tearjerkers.

And as many heartstrings as Harrison pulled on among viewers, I think it will be Tajh Bellow who walks away with the Daytime Emmy this year for his portrayal of TJ Ashford.

Though the powers that be inexplicably phased out the character in the current landscape, the scenes Bellow delivered in 2024 were some of the best of the year as a grieving parent. Not only did he have to show the sadness that comes with losing a child, but he also was forced to show the anger and frustration that comes with learning that had the child survived, his pseudo sister-in-law/surrogate had every intention of keeping the baby.

Adding to Bellow’s remarkable year was the subsequent storyline of having to pick up the pieces of his shattered dream without his partner, Molly (Kristen Vaganos). Bellow gave viewers two versions of heartbreak simultaneously, as Molly essentially was incapable of helping TJ mourn their daughter or being a common-law wife to him.

On a final note, while I would again surmise that Bellow has this locked in the bag, I won’t rule out the small chance that Harrison comes up victorious.

With the nominees for the 2025 Daytime Emmy Awards officially announced, the What to Watch team is counting down to the big day on October 17, looking through the soap categories and offering our take on who should walk away victorious.

I previously offered up my reasons why I think Eileen Davidson is a shoo-in for the Outstanding Lead Actress In A Daytime Drama Series category. Her portrayal of The Young and the Restless' Ashley dealing with dissociative identity disorder and subsequently trying to piece her life back together, even as Martin (Christopher Cousins) continued to torment her family, was brilliant. And as I look to the Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Daytime Drama Series category, I again have to look to the long-running CBS soap.

Now to be clear, this year’s list of nominees all did great jobs in their respective roles. General Hospital’s Kate Mansi had quite the transformative storyline as Kristina in 2024, first losing the surrogate child she was carrying for her sister Molly (Kristen Vaganos), then going toe-to-toe with Molly as the two women argued in grief, before they both lost their big sister Sam (Kelly Monaco).

Days of Our Lives has two actresses hoping to take home a win for supporting actress in Linsey Godfrey and Emily O’Brien. Godfrey did a heck of a job as Sarah Horton, getting run over by her mother-in-law and attempting to recuperate. O’Brien stepped into the role of Theresa Donovan at the tail end of 2023, but fully embraced the part in 2024, making for quite the joy ride as she added her own unique flavor to the dramatic soap character.

Even with such formidable competition in the category, it’s the women of The Young and the Restless who I think it all boils down to. Both Susan Walters, who portrays Diane Abbott, and Courtney Hope, who plays Sally Spectra, delivered performances that were truly standouts in 2024. And it was Hope, who I believe did just enough to edge out her competition. If we’re right about her winning this category again, it would make her a winner in back-to-back years.

I recall watching the tumultuous breakup between Sally and Adam (Mark Grossman) on The Young and the Restless, and I said then that her work on screen was gold hardware-worthy. Hope perfectly struck a balance between visibly showcasing Sally’s heartbreak and fully demonstrating the character’s rage at being betrayed and lied to. Take a look at her unleashing on Adam below (I’m still applauding).

I also have to commend Hope for how she handled Sally’s mending process. Sally realized that Adam was exactly who people warned her he was, and had to wrestle with the fact that she ended things with Nick (Joshua Morrow) for the younger Newman.

Plus, she was left trying to move on from Adam, falling into the arms of Billy (Jason Thompson). While in the present, we’re well beyond the eligibility period for the 2025 Daytime Emmys, I can’t help but desire seeing more of the fierce Sally in future episodes.

Now I’d be remiss if I didn’t bring up my theory that there’s a slight possibility the supporting actress category ends in a tie. Although we think Hope will capture the trophy, she could wind up sharing it with Walters.

Walters had some stellar moments in 2024 as Diane, whether that be unleashing on Jack (Peter Bergman) for purposefully relapsing for Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) benefit, pretending to fallout with with Jack for Kyle’s (Michael Mealor) sake or having the tough conversations with Kyle as he wrestled with his past trauma, Walters’ Diane scenes were must-watch.

So, who do you think will take home this year’s supporting actress Emmy? Will it be Hope or someone else?

The powers that be have announced the nominees for the 2025 Daytime Emmy Awards, and I’m feeling a myriad of emotions. While I’m shocked that The Bold and the Beautiful has been shut out of the main soap categories and disappointed that The Young and the Restless’ Melody Thomas Scott and Colleen Zenk were both snubbed for the respective portrayals as Nikki and Jordan, I still find myself thrilled to see the list of nominees, especially when I feel as if the nomination was completely deserved.

That brings me the nominations for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress. Although I wish Scott were added to the number, every actress in the category is deserving of a nomination.

Sharon Case and Michelle Stafford were phenomenal on The Young and the Restless during the eligible nominating period, portraying Sharon and Phyllis wrestling with the death of Heather (Vail Bloom), the torment by Jordan and Ian (Ray Ward) and the then the kidnapping at the hands of Martin (Christopher Cousins).

Also from The Young and the Restless, Melissa Claire Egan did a dynamite job portraying Chelsea, a mother struggling to help her son cope with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and a girlfriend wrestling with feelings for two men at the time.

Over in the land of General Hospital, Nancy Lee Grahn and Laura Wright (who respectively play Alexis and Carly on the soap) definitely earned their applause and rave reviews. Alexis has had to deal with a lot, including the death of her daughter, Sam (Kelly Monaco), and trying to help her other daughters and grandchildren adjust to such a loss.

And Carly has had to suffer through almost losing another child, while fiercely taking on Drew (Cameron Mathison), Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Nina (Cynthia Watros) for the sake of her grandchildren. Plus, it’s been nice to see Carly transform into the de facto Spencer matriarch.

With all that being said though, my money for the winner of this year’s Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress category is The Young and the Restless’ Eileen Davidson.

From the moment Davidson’s character Ashley kicked off her dissociative identity disorder (DID), I’ve been nothing short of impressed by the range of talent Davidson used in not only portraying Ashley, but the other personalities of her psyche as well. Right before viewers' eyes, she morphed from a confused and terrified Ashley to a wildly flirtatious Belle to a naive Ash to an assertive and ruthless Ms. Abbott. I can’t say I can recall any actress from any soap playing four different personalities.

Then I was completely riveted watching Ashley come to grips with her fragile mental health state and her having to face off with the spark of her mental torment, Martin. Not only did Ashley have to come face-to-face with him in Paris the night Alan (Christopher Cousins) died, but she also had to confront Martin in Genoa City as he pretended to be Alan and in love with Traci (Beth Maitland).

I’ve been so enamored with Ashley’s story that I’ve actually missed her in her long hiatus in France. Not for nothing, CBS still hasn’t gone into the childhood weeds as to what originally caused her DID. Martin may have prompted her different personalities to emerge, but as our psychology research and even the soap suggested, Ashley’s DID originated in childhood. What could have happened to her that viewers have yet to learn? I’m hoping that’s something that’s explored in future episodes.

Look, let me get this out right away, The Bear on Hulu (or Disney Plus in the UK) is a phenomenal show and it’s certainly a series worth gold hardware. However, with the 2025 Emmy nominations being announced on July 15, and the FX series receiving 13 Emmy nominations in total in comedy categories, I find myself once again beating the same drum I’ve been beating for a while — The Bear is not a comedy.

I’ve been watching The Bear from the very beginning, and I’ve loved every minute of it. The show has a unique premise, Jeremy Allen White and company deliver phenomenal scenes, the dramatic tension created by dynamic dialogue is top-notch and it has everything you want in a binge-worthy series. But it isn’t funny to me. Yes, I’ve chuckled sparingly here and there over the seasons, but not enough to the point where I could conceivably justify The Bear continuing to receive multiple comedy nominations at the Emmys.

And I’m a person who is a fan of dry and dark comedy. I enjoyed Weeds, Dead to Me, Beef, Atlanta and Shameless; but unlike The Bear, these shows had considerably more funny moments.

With all that being said, I do believe The Bear is deserving of Emmy recognition, just not of the comedic variety. I think that next year, when it’s time for nominations, the series should do something that Shameless did back in 2014.

When the US version of Shameless was originally rolled out in 2011, it was marketed to awarding bodies as a drama. It made sense on paper as the series focused on the hard knocks of one family and the unscrupulous lengths the father went to in order to preserve his own status quo of alcoholism and drug abuse.

However, even though the series was serious in premise and had multiple scenes that made me tear up, the dramatic moments were almost evenly balanced with scenes chock-full of laughter. Which is why it was completely understandable that the powers that be officially began classifying Shameless as a comedy instead of a drama in 2014.

If in new seasons, The Bear continues striking the same tone it has in previous ones, those behind the show should consider officially making a change and submitting it in the drama category to future award bodies. Essentially, doing the opposite of what Shameless did.

Now I’m not sure if that means longer episodes of The Bear would have to be created at that point to fit the typical length of a US drama, but I’d be up for more The Bear.

I tend to think Hollywood as a whole could benefit from the switch. Think about the potential nominations some comedies could get if The Bear weren’t scooping up many of them. I could even make an argument that Hacks or Abbott Elementary would possibly have more wins at the Emmys if not for The Bear, but I digress.

On a final note, it’s worth reiterating that The Bear is a great show, it’s deserving of its award wins. I just would like these wins to take place in the drama categories.

From Paul O'Grady to Fern Britton, The British Soap Awards has seen an array of famous faces take to the stage and present the awards since it started in 1999. Now, donning a glittery frock once again, TV star and self-proclaimed soap superfan Jane McDonald is back to host the prestigious event.

Live from Las Vegas comes one of music's biggest nights: The American Music Awards are back this evening for its 51st annual edition, with multihyphenate talent Jennifer Lopez returning as host, 10 years after she first made her AMAs hosting debut.

Celebrating the year’s most iconic music, the American Music Awards is the world’s largest fan-voted awards show honoring today’s most influential artists and their passionate fanbases. Where can you watch the AMAs tonight?

The American Music Awards 2025 ceremony are airing live coast-to-coast on Monday, May 26 at 8pm Eastern Time (5pm Pacific Time) on CBS and Paramount+.

That means, if you want to watch the awards show on traditional TV, you're going to need access to CBS. CBS is one of the four main broadcast networks in the US (along with ABC, Fox and NBC), and as such it is conveniently accessible through a number of options. First, the channel is considered a "must carry" and included in all traditional pay-TV plans. It is also easily accessible if you opt for a TV antenna, with the devices able to pick up local station signals. Who is performing at the AMAs tonight?

The lineup of musical performers taking the stage at the American Music Awards tonight includes Blake Shelton, Gloria Estefan, Gwen Stefani, Reneé Rapp, and AMA nominees Benson Boone and Lainey Wilson.

Music fans will also get to see the iconic Janet Jackson perform live on TV for the first time since 2018, as the superstar and 11-time American Music Award winner receives this year's prestigious ICON Award.

Similarly, Rod Stewart will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, in recognition of his contributions to music for nearly six decades. He will also deliver a performance of one of his timeless classics, marking his first time on the AMAs stage since 2004.

Who is nominated at the AMAs tonight?

Kendrick Lamar, who already has three American Music Awards to his name, leads this year’s nominations with a total of 10, including in high-profile categories like Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (GNX) and Song of the Year (“Not Like Us”).

Fellow multi-nominees include Post Malone with eight nominations; Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan and Shaboozey with seven nods each; Taylor Swift with six nominations; Hozier with five; and both Charli XCX and Beyoncé up for three apiece, for Brat and Cowboy Carter, respectively.

This year sees an exciting crop of first-time nominees—along with Chappell Roan and Shaboozey, AMAs newcomers Benson Boone, Doechii, Gracie Abrams, Jelly Roll, Lola Young, The Marias, ROSÉ, Teddy Swims, Tommy Richman, Tyla, as well as Artist of the Year nominees Sabrina Carpenter and Zach Bryan.

The British Soap Awards 2025 are back to celebrate all the greatest moments in soaps over the last year — and what better way to honour the glittering event than with a very special TV Times cover with some of the most glamorous faces from soapland.

The event, which took a hiatus last year, is being held at London’s Hackney Empire on Saturday, May 31, and will be screened on ITV1 on Thursday, June 5, and once again, singer, presenter and self-confessed soap addict Jane McDonald will be on hosting duties.

Meanwhile, Jennifer – who has played Mercedes since 2006 – has been giving a heartbreaking performance in Hollyoaks with storylines including a recent bowel cancer diagnosis and the tragic stillbirth of her son Gabriel.

Bob Fosse’s semi-biographical musical All That Jazz had already received four Oscars (though it did not win Best Picture) when it screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 1980, but the Cannes jury decided to give its stamp of approval for the movie as well with its top prize (tying with Akira Kurosawa’s Kagemusha, which is available on-demand).

In the movie, Roy Scheider plays Joe Gideon, Fosse’s fictional stand-in, one of the best Broadway directors and choreographers around, but a womanizer and drug-user as well. All That Jazz is not your typical musical, as just about all the musical numbers are natural to the Broadway world it is set in, and the movie’s theme and tone is more down to earth than many musicals. But the movie’s powerful final moments are as big and fantastic as any musical you’ve ever seen.

Anatomy of a Fall (2023)

One of the more recent winners of the Palme d’Or, Anatomy of a Fall, directed by Justine Triet, is a fascinating crime drama about a woman who becomes the lead suspect in the death of her husband and has to go through a contentious legal battle to prove her innocence. Sandra Hüller gives a fantastic lead performance in the French movie. But you don’t need to be intimidated about the movie being in a foreign language, as a lot of the dialogue is in English.

Though the Palme d’Or definitely has more clout, Anatomy of a Fall was one of my best movies of 2023, for what it’s worth.

Anatomy of a Fall is an example of how Cannes’ influence has grown even larger in the last few years. It is one of three straight Palme d’Or winners to also earn a Best Picture nominee, and four of the last five; with two winners in that bunch (Parasite and Anora).

Parasite (2019)

Speaking of Parasite, Bong Joon Ho’s movie became a phenomenon in 2019. This tale of greed and class in South Korea is darkly funny and incredibly poignant, as the destitute Kim family cons their way into the lives of the wealthy Park family to try and better their station. And it all started with its win at the Cannes Film Festival. I still remember the high that I had after seeing Parasite in movie theaters; it’s a feeling I’ve only had a few times in my life watching a movie.

If you haven’t seen Parasite, then I recommend you change that as soon as possible. But if you have and are curious about some other international Palmes d’Or winners on streaming, some others I’d recommend are Blue is the Warmest Color, 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and La Dolce Vita.

Paris, Texas (1984)

I love Wim Wenders movies, but Paris, Texas will always have a special place in my heart as it was the first of his movies that I saw. It is a beautiful story of a man (Harry Dean Stanton) who becomes a drifter after his wife leaves him, but after many years returns to his life and family. Stanton, a long-time character actor probably best known for Alien and his collaborations with David Lynch (including Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me), gives the performance of his life.

Pulp Fiction (1994)

I mean, how could I not include Tarantino’s masterpiece and one of What to Watch’s 100 best movies of all time on this list?

Pulp Fiction needs little introduction, as Tarantino’s series of vignettes about criminals and others in Los Angeles intersecting is one of the most popular movies of the last 30-plus years. With a cast that features Samuel L. Jackson, John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis, Ving Rhames, Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Amanda Plummer and Christopher Walken, Tarantino’s memorable dialogue is brilliantly brought to the screen.

The win for Pulp Fiction also showed how Cannes was a bit ahead of Hollywood in recognizing revolutionary work. While Pulp Fiction won an Oscar for its screenplay, it lost the top prize to Forrest Gump. You have to wonder if today’s Oscars would have followed suit with the Cannes pick? Either way, Pulp Fiction is a classic and always worth a watch.

The National Television Awards 2025 countdown is on! It's when all our favourite TV stars will grace the red carpet in their snazziest suits and poshest frocks to celebrate all things telly, with the ceremony shown live on ITV1 from London’s O2 Arena on Wednesday, September 10.

Once again, Joel Dommett will host the star-studded NTAs ceremony, while all the winners will be voted for by our readers and other TV fans. Here’s our guide to the highlights of The National Television Awards 2025’s long-list giving you a sneak peek at some of the nominees and categories…

This year we’ve been spoiled by some gripping dramas, and one of the night’s biggest battles will be for the New Drama award, as Netflix hit Adolescence goes up against the hedonistic Jilly Cooper series Rivals, as well as Code of Silence, Ludwig and MobLand. Meanwhile, the Returning Drama award features a feast of binge-watchable crime dramas, including Gangs of London, Slow Horses and the last ever series of Vera, while Call the Midwife and coming-of-age saga Heartstopper are also in the running.

The Drama Performance gong will be a tough one to call, with teen sensation Owen Cooper (Adolescence) taking on his co-star Stephen Graham, as well as Tom Hardy (MobLand), Rose Ayling-Ellis (Code of Silence) and Vera’s Brenda Blethyn. Meanwhile, there are plenty of other telly favourites hoping for an NTA trophy too, including The Masked Singer, Would I Lie To You?, The Graham Norton Show and Michael McIntyre’s Big Show all fighting it out for The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award. 

You can also pick your favourite comedy from Brassic, Gavin & Stacey and Mrs Brown’s Boys, while Michael McIntyre is up for a second gong with his 25th Year Stand-Up Special. As usual, our money’s still on Ant & Dec to bag the best TV Presenter honour, but Alison Hammond, Claudia Winkleman, Gary Lineker or Stacey Solomon are are all hoping for a sneaky win.

The soaps battling it out at The National Television Awards 2025

For The National Television Awards 2025 as usual, the contest between the soaps is set to be intense. Emmerdale won last year but will need to pull in the votes to beat rivals Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, EastEnders and Casualty to the crown.

And the battle among the soaps is also set to be as intense as ever. Coronation Street’s Jack P. Shepherd (David Platt) and Sue Devaney (Debbie Webster) are both up for Best Serial Drama Performance, but they’re taking on Eden Taylor-Draper (Emmerdale’s Belle Dingle), EastEnders’ Jacqueline Jossa (Lauren Branning) and Steve McFadden, who gave emotional performances as EastEnders’ troubled Phil Mitchell.

The most glamorous night on TV is back as The British Soap Awards 2025 arrives on our screens after taking a break last year.

The British Soap Awards has been one of the TV highlights for soap fans around the country since it started back in 1999 and now the prestigious event is back to reward the most dramatic, entertaining, funniest and downright impressive moments in soap over the last year.

Once again, all your favourite soap stars will come together for the awards ceremony, which will air exclusively on ITV1 and ITVX for an evening dedicated to the country’s four biggest soaps - Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks.

The ceremony will celebrate a mammoth year in soap opera, looking back on twelve months of murder, mystery, make-ups, break-ups, trials, tribulations and tears. An incredible year in which Gail Platt departed the cobbles after 50 years in Coronation Street, EastEnders celebrated its 40th anniversary on air, Hollyoaks leapt a year into the future unveiling explosive new twists, and in Emmerdale, a dramatic limousine crash into a frozen lake left viewers stunned.

Speaking of this year's awards, Gemma John-Lewis, Entertainment Commissioner at ITV said: “The British Soaps Awards are an opportunity to celebrate and shine a light on the incredible actors and production teams that deliver gripping drama and captivating stories throughout the year. We’re delighted Jane McDonald, a self-proclaimed number one soap fan, is returning to host the awards.”

The British Soap Awards 2025 will air on ITV1 and ITVX on Thursday, June 5 at 8pm.

Voting remains open until 5pm on Friday, May 30, with the actual event set to be held at London's iconic Hackney Empire the following day on Saturday, May 31.

The biggest night in movies is officially here: The curtains are going up on the Academy Awards tonight, Sunday, March 2, and some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry will soon be taking the stage as presenters, performers and, potentially, new Oscar winners.

The 2025 Oscars celebrates movies that came out in 2024, with high-profile titles like The Brutalist, Wicked, Anora, Emilia Perez and Dune: Part Two expected to scoop up awards across various categories — though diehard Oscar watchers are primed for some surprise upsets and dark-horse wins.

If there are still a few films you need to catch up on before tonight's big telecast, you're going to want to know how to watch all of the Oscar nominees. (How else are you going to impress the guests at your Oscars viewing party later with all of your correct guesses in every single award category?)

And you'll also have to know how you can watch the 2025 Academy Awards ceremony live from around the world — here's everything you know for a star-studded Oscars Sunday tonight.

How to watch the 2025 Oscars in the US

In the US, the 2025 Oscars ceremony will be broadcast on Sunday, March 2, from 7pm ET/4pm PT. (Note that the start time is an hour earlier than in past years, when the Oscars would typically start at 8pm ET/5pm PT.)

You can watch the ceremony in one place and one place only: on ABC, or whatever your local affiliate station for the basic cable channel is. Easy breezy!

Statistically speaking, you probably already have access to ABC, but if you don't — or would rather watch the Oscars online — a few live TV streaming services will let you live stream ABC over the internet. Fubo, DirecTV, Hulu with Live TV and YouTube TV all let you stream ABC as well as a wide variety of other channels. The former offers a Fubo free trial, which may sway subscribers, but you can see prices for all below.

The show will also be streaming on-demand on Hulu, with subscribers also able to catch up on the show after it's been broadcast. Hulu costs $9.99 per month for its ad tier or $18.99 ad-free, or $10.99 as part of the basic Disney Bundle.

How to watch the 2025 Oscars in the UK

The 2025 Oscars airing earlier than normal is great news in the UK, given how late the ceremony starts, but you're still going to be up until the early hours watching it. The ceremony is being broadcast on Sunday, March 2, with coverage of the red-carpet arrivals kicking off at 10:30pm GMT and the awards ceremony commencing at midnight. The show will conclude around 3:05am GMT.

The show will be aired live on ITV1, so you can use it on your TV or using ITVX if you'd rather watch it online on a computer or your phone. We've got a guide on how to watch live TV using ITVX here.

Both options are, of course, free to license fee payers.

How to watch the 2025 Oscars in Australia

The 2025 Oscars fall at a fairly reasonable hour in Australia, albeit technically a day late: the ceremony is set to begin at 11am on Monday, March 3 and end around 1:30pm.

You can watch a live stream of the event for free online by using the streaming service 7Plus, or using your TV on Channel 7.

How to watch the 2025 Oscars everywhere else

The Oscars will be broadcasting around the world, with the Academy sharing the exact place where viewers can watch it in various countries right here.

Even before the awards start getting handed out, the Oscars night is already an exciting affair thanks to the glamorous fashions being paraded down the red carpet by the event's illustrious attendees. The biggest names in the movie industry will be heading to Los Angeles' Dolby Theatre tonight for the 97th annual Academy Awards, including famously stylish nominees like Cynthia Erivo, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Colman Domingo, Demi Moore and Zoe Saldaña, and we're making sure you don't miss one glitzy minute.

Ahead of tonight's 2025 Oscars telecast, ABC will begin its official red-carpet pre-show at 6:30pm Eastern Time, which will air live on the alphabet network and stream live on Hulu, with hosts Julianne Hough and Jesse Palmer as your guides for the evening.

However, if you want to get the sartorial fun started even earlier, E! will kick off its own pre-show fashion coverage, Live From E!: The Oscars, beginning at 4pm ET. Hosted by Access Hollywood's Zuri Hall, the E! show will feature interviews with the night's biggest stars, no doubt including host Conan O'Brien and big-name presenters like Emma Stone, Cillian Murphy, Andrew Garfield, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Miley Cyrus, Oprah Winfrey and more.

Both ABC and E! are included in most cable packages. However, if you don't have cable, live TV streaming services will enable you to watch the ceremony as it airs, including Fubo, DirecTV, Hulu with Live TV and YouTube TV.

We've gone through the Golden Globes, countless critics awards, the BAFTAs and the guilds. Now it's time for the main event, the 2025 Oscars. As the Academy votes on what they believe are the best and most accomplished movies of 2024 — from Anora to Wicked — I've compiled my own Oscar predictions of what I believe will win on Sunday, March 2.

Below you'll find my predicted winner in all 23 categories, as well as a little explanation as to why I'm going with that pick and what other nominees could play spoiler when the envelope is officially opened. My best ever scores were when I just got three categories wrong (20/23 in 2022, 21/24 in 2018); can I do better than that this year?

We'll find out on Sunday, March 2, starting at 7 pm ET/4 pm PT. But in the meantime, here are my full slate of Oscar predictions

Best Actor

If I was voting, I would be between Timothée Chalamet for A Complete Unknown and Colman Domingo for Sing Sing, but guessing what the Academy might do, I think they give Adrien Brody his second Oscar for his work in The Brutalist. Chalamet is my top alternative, while Sebastian Stan for The Apprentice is the dark horse here. Predicted winner: Adrien Brody, The Brutalist

Best Actress

It was a great year of leading actress performances. While Mikey Madison for Anora and Fernanda Torres for I’m Still Here could play spoilers, I think the narrative around Demi Moore and her superb performance in The Substance is too good for the Oscars to pass up. Predicted winner: Demi Moore, The Substance

Best Supporting Actor

This one has felt pretty settled for a while, as Kieran Culkin has been cleaning up with critics and other award shows for his performance in A Real Pain. I expect him to continue with a win at the Oscars, though if there’s an upset to be had I believe it lies in Edward Norton’s performance in A Complete Unknown. Predicted winner: Kieran Culkin, A Real Pain

Best Supporting Actress

Another one where the writing appears to be on the wall, and it reads Zoe Saldana. While Emilia Perez has taken a hit in the lead up to the Oscars because of controversial past comments resurfacing from star Karla Sofia Gascon, that shouldn’t impact Saldana’s crowning for some of the best work of her career. Predicted winner: Zoe Saldana, Emilia Perez

Best Adapted Screenplay

I believe that this could be A Complete Unknown’s best chance to win an award on Oscar night, but I think the Academy opts for the twisty adaptation of the best-seller Conclave from Peter Straughan, as many other award bodies have done so far. Predicted winner: Peter Straughan, Conclave

Best Original Screenplay

I can legitimately make a case for four of the five Original Screenplay nominees to win (sorry September 5, I still love you). A win of Jesse Eisenberg’s A Real Pain or Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance would be recognition of career best work; a win for The Brutalist would probably be a strong sign of a potentially dominant night. But I think Sean Baker’s beloved comedy wins the Academy’s heart here. Predicted winner: Sean Baker, Anora

Best Animated Feature

This feels like a two horse race between The Wild Robot and Flow. Flow made the early statement with a win at the Golden Globes, and with the growing contingency of international voters it could repeat that feat here. However, The Wild Robot earned two additional nominations for Sound and Score, and I think that wide-ranging support amongst voters will help it pull out the win. Predicted winner: The Wild Robot

Best Documentary

I admittedly have not seen any of the nominated documentaries this year, so I’m just going with what appears to be the betting favorite, and that is with No Other Land. One of the most awarded docs of the year, the movie depicts a growing alliance between a Palestinian activist and an Israeli journalist. Predicted winner: No Other Land

Best International Film

Even before the controversy surrounding Emilia Perez broke out, I’m Still Here was building some momentum on the awards circuit and became a dark horse to win. Now, it is the presumed favorite and gives the Academy a chance to award acclaimed filmmaker Walter Salles. Emilia Perez could still win, and if I’m asked to peg a dark horse, Flow could get some votes if people think it should get some recognition but went with The Wild Robot in animation. Predicted winner: I’m Still Here

Best Cinematography

Cinematography is a pretty competitive category between The Brutalist, Dune: Part Two and Nosferatu. Dune: Part One won in this category a few years ago, but the sequel has had a harder time building awards momentum despite (in my opinion) being the better movie. Ultimately I think this comes down to the gothic beauty of Nosferatu or the 70mm scope of The Brutalist. I’ll go with the latter. Predicted winner: The Brutalist

Best Costume Design

Does the Oscar go to Elphaba’s iconic hat, Nosferatu’s cape, the cardinals’ robes, Roman gladiator armor or Bob Dylan’s sunglasses? Of course there’s more to the great costume work of all these nominees, just cherry picking. As for who wins, I’m going with Wicked. Predicted winner: Wicked

Best Editing

A lot of Oscar pundits say a Best Editing nomination is a big sign of a movie’s chances of winning Best Picture. That’s proven true as eight of the 10 Oscars has seen the eventual Best Picture winner be nominated. Pretty much the five biggest contenders for the top prize are all nominated this year, so who am I going with? I’ll go with the taut political thrills of Conclave. (FYI, the conversion of the Best Editing winner going on to win Best Picture doesn’t have as good a precedent recently, as only two out of 10 have done so; though they were the last two, Oppenheimer and Everything Everywhere All at Once). Predicted winner: Conclave

Best Makeup & Hairstyling

2016’s Suicide Squad is an Oscar winner thanks to its Best Makeup and Hairstyling win. None of this year’s nominees stick out like that one. So who wins? Give me The Substance and its incredible body horror effects. Predicted winner: The Substance

Best Music (Original Score)

Ever since I heard the music of The Brutalist in the movie’s first trailer, I just knew that it was destined to be Oscar nominated. How it plays with the images of the movie really helps give it an epic scale. So, for that reason I’m making it my pick to take the Oscar for best score. Predicted winner: The Brutalist

Best Music (Original Song)

Diane Warren is once again competing for her first competitive Oscar win after 16 nominations (this time for her song in The Six Triple Eight), but “El Mal” from Emilia Perez has been taking home the prize practically every time it’s up for competition. I don’t think that will change on Oscar night. Predicted winner: Emilia Perez, “El Mal”

Best Production Design

The recreation of 18th century Gothic styles in Nosferatu or the futuristic look of Dune are all great, but bringing the world of Oz back to the screen in incredible new ways is enough for me to make Wicked my pick here. Predicted winner: Wicked

Best Sound

Like so many of the below-the-line categories, it feels like it is coming down to Dune: Part Two and Wicked. Perhaps just on the back of “Defying Gravity” alone, I’m giving the edge to Wicked and making it my pick for Best Sound. Predicted winner: Wicked

Best Visual Effects

It feels wrong to only give Dune: Part Two one Oscar, but that’s where things feel like they are going. Its closest competitor here is probably Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, but the Academy has failed to recognize the franchise in the past in this category despite revolutionary work; I don’t think the fourth entry is the one that is going to break that trend. Predicted winner: Dune: Part Two

Best Shorts

I unfortunately wasn’t able to see most of the Oscar-nominated shorts this year, so these are going to be entirely shots in the dark, so I’ll just group them together:

Best Animated Short predicted winner: Wander to Wonder
Best Documentary Short predicted winner: I Am Ready, Warden
Best Live Action Short predicted winner: The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent

Best Directing

The idea of Best Director and Best Picture not going to the same movie has been a much more common trend in recent years, as six of the last 15 Best Director winners did not see their movie go on to win Best Picture. That could happen again, as The Brutalist’s Brady Corbet is a popular pick. But after winning the Directors Guild of America award, which has seen its last four winners go on to repeat at the Oscars, I’m going with Sean Baker winning for Anora. Predicted winner: Sean Baker, Anora

Best Picture

And as you may have guessed from my Best Director prediction, I believe this is a year when there is no split between Best Director and Best Picture, as I see Anora taking home the top prize of the night. After it seemed like this award season couldn’t settle on a clear front-runner, Anora’s big wins at the Critics Choice Awards, Directors Guild and Producers Guild on February 7 and 8 changed that. Anora brings it home as the 97th Best Picture winner. Predicted winner: Anora

It’s a role that could justifiably see her receive the BAFTA over fellow nominees like Cynthia Erivo, Demi Moore, and Mikey Madison.

And, in addition to Hollywood royalty, they’ll be pop royalty, too, as Take That turn up to perform “Greatest Days” from the Anora soundtrack. Heck, they’ll even be royalty royalty, with Princess Kate Middleton and her BAFTA president husband Price William RSVP’ing to the event for the first time in years.

The Critics Choice Awards 2025, the 30th edition of the awards show, is finally having its night, airing on E! starting at 7 pm ET/PT. As voted on by the members of the Critics Choice Association, the Critics Choice Awards recognizes the best of the past year in both movies and TV in a range of categories, with titles like A Complete Unknown, The Brutalist, Wicked, Shogun, Nobody Wants This and St. Denis Medical up for awards.

Chelsea Handler is serving as the host of the event, which is finally taking place after the Los Angeles wild fires caused the awards show to be delayed multiple times. Worth noting, there will be no red carpet coverage of the awards ceremony.

The Critics Choice Awards are one of the bigger stops on the awards circuit in the build up to the Oscars. While there is no voting overlap between the two awards bodies, with Oscar voting underway whoever wins tonight is going to be top of mind of those voting for the Academy.

This is just one of many big awards being handed out this weekend, as the Directors Guild of America and the Producers Guild of America, featuring many movies up for Oscars, announce their awards on Saturday, February 8.

In order to watch the Critics Choice Awards, you need to have access to E!. A cable channel, E! is available through most traditional pay-TV providers and is included in the lineup of live TV streaming services like Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV and YouTube TV.

The 2025 Sundance Film Festival has come to an end, helping jump start the 2025 new movie year by premiering a number of movies that are going to get people’s attention over the course of the next 12 months. While I wasn’t in Park City, Utah, I paid close attention to what movies were garnering some major buzz and keeping an eye on early reviews from critics in attendance, looking to ID some of the potential breakout Sundance movies from this year’s program.

As many movie fans know, Sundance is one of the biggest film festivals in the world, where a number of movies that become eventual hits and award-winners make their premiere. Just look at last year’s offerings, which included Oscar-nominees A Real Pain, A Different Man and Sugarcane, as well as critical darlings like Didi, Love Lies Bleeding and My Old Ass. And of course a few years ago Sundance was where Best Picture winner CODA premiered. Long story short, every year we get a couple of big movies from Sundance, so what 2025 Sundance movies have the chance to be the breakouts?

Only time will truly bear that out, but I’m happy to give you my picks for the five Sundance 2025 movies I’m going to actively keep an eye out for this year. While a number of Sundance movies are going to be coming out within a few months of the festival (Sly Lives!, The Ballad of Wallis Island, The Wedding Banquet and The Legend of Ochi), these picks are movies that either don’t have a release date yet or are coming much later in the year; ones that I and other movie fans are going to be eagerly awaiting to watch for ourselves.

Without further ado, let’s get to my picks (in alphabetical order):

If I Had Legs I’d Kick You

Mary Bronstein’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You came into Sundance as one of the buzzier titles as it starred Rose Byrne and already had distribution from A24. That buzz was justified when the movie screened to strong reviews. As of February 3, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You has a 90% “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critic Ty Burr describing it as a movie “with the intensity cranked to 11 and stays there for the entire running time,” and the New York Post’s Johnny Oleksinski calling Byrne’s performance “unforgettable.” Throw in rare acting appearances from rapper A$AP Rocky and upcoming Oscar host Conan O’Brien and there’s a lot to be intrigued about in this dark comedy about a single mom’s life crashing down around her.

A24 hasn’t shared any release info as of yet, only that If I Had Legs I’d Kick You is “coming soon.”

Sorry, Baby

Sundance is also a place for brand new filmmakers to emerge, and one of the biggest potential breakouts is Sorry, Baby writer, director and star Eva Victor. Victor stars as Agnes, a graduate-student turned professor that must contend with past trauma while everyone else’s life appears to move on (among the supporting cast is Naomi Ackie, Lucas Hedges, John Carroll Lynch, Louis Cancelmi and Kelly McCormack). In addition to earning rave reviews (as of publication it has a 100% “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes), Victor won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award for her debut movie.

A24 has attached its label to this movie as well, acquiring Sorry, Baby during the festival. However, no info on a potential release date has been shared.

Together

Because of my love last year for The Substance, I’ve become more open to trying out movies in the body horror genre, especially with the credentials that Together has. From writer/director Michael Shanks and starring Alison Brie and Dave Franco, the movie follows a couple as they move to the countryside, resulting in a supernatural incident that alters their relationship, existence and physical form. This is another one of this year’s Sundance movie that scored 100% on Rotten Tomatoes from the critics that saw it at the festival, and it was one of the few movies that received a distribution deal during the proceedings, with Neon picking it up.

Together is officially set for an August 1 release date.

Train Dreams

It's really early to make a call on which 2025 Sundance movies are going to be Oscar contenders at next year’s ceremony, but Train Dreams is definitely one that has to be considered among the favorites. From the team that made the Oscar-nominated Sing Sing, Clint Bentley and Greg Kwedar, this new movie starring Joel Edgerton, Felicity Jones, Kerry Condon and William H. Macy is a period drama set at the start of the 20th century following a man who is helping build America’s railroads, seeing a world “irrevocably transforming before his very eyes,” says the official description. A review from Brian Tallerico of RogerEbert.com says you don’t just watch Train Dreams, “you breathe it in” (the movie’s Rotten Tomatoes score as of publication is 91% “Fresh”).

Twinless

Whenever you win one of the top prizes at a festival, you’re going to drum up a good bit of interest. Such is the case with Twinless, a dramedy written and directed by James Sweeney, which he also stars in alongside Dylan O’Brien. The two actors play bereaved twins that meet at a support group and form an unlikely friendship. Twinless left Sundance with the Audience Award in the US Dramatic competition and an Special Jury Acting Award for O’Brien, some nice hardware to go along with its 100% Rotten Tomatoes score. Some people not at the fest got to watch Twinless as it was available through Sundance’s online program, however the movie was taken down before the festival ended because there were issues with online leaks.

Despite the notable wins, Twinless has not been acquired for distribution as of publication.

Music fans assemble, because it's time for one of the biggest nights in music: the 67th Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 2, to celebrate the best pop music from the last year.

Some of the buzziest names in music — we're talking folks like Charli XCX, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter and Benson Boone — as well as real-deal musical icons like Stevie Wonder, Sheryl Crow and Shakira will be taking the stage during tonight's big ceremony, as the industry's brightest stars compete in major categories like Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best New Artist and Songwriter of the Year.

Trevor Noah returns to host the Grammys and loads of top artists are set to appear during the show: Beyoncé will be there, leading the nominations with 11 nods for Cowboy Carter, as will Taylor Swift, who notched six nominations this year. Viewers can also expect to see Billie Eilish, Brad Paisley, Brittany Howard, Chris Martin, Wicked star Cynthia Erivo, Doechii, John Legend, Lainey Wilson, RAYE, St. Vincent, Teddy Swims and more during tonight's telecast.

Along with being a celebration of music, this year's proceedings at Los Angeles' Crypto.com Arena will be a moving tribute to and fundraising event for the devastating wildfires that have ravaged Los Angeles County. "The 67th Annual GRAMMY Awards will carry a renewed sense of purpose: raising additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honoring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours," CBS said in a news release.

Sunday marks the biggest night in music, the 2025 Grammy Awards. And to celebrate the starry occasion — which will see big-name, multi-category nominees like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter and a little group known as The Beatles competing for the gold — CBS is kicking off the weekend with a behind-the-scenes special that will give Grammys diehards a peek into how all of the musical magic is made ahead of Sunday night's ceremony.

Premiering tonight, January 31, at 8pm Eastern Time on CBS, Inside the 67th Annual Grammy Awards will be hosted by Nischelle Turner of Entertainment Tonight. The "fast-paced, high-energy special" will offer an early peek at those star-studded seating arrangements and unforgettable live performances that help make the Grammys an awe-inspiring spectacle year after year. Along with exclusive interviews and rare rehearsal footage from the 2025 nominees, the special will also feature industry insiders who will share their expert opinion on who has the inside track to win music’s biggest prize, with mega-stars like Kendrick Lamar, Charli XCX and Post Malone honored in the night's top categories.

The hourlong special will also highlight stories of heroism and community response to the wildfire crisis, with information about the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort, a charitable fund created by the Recording Academy and MusiCares. This year's Grammys telecast will be reimagined to raise funds to support wildfire relief efforts and aid music professionals impacted by the wildfires in Los Angeles.

The countdown to the 2025 Oscars is on, but while we wait to find out what movies from this past year are going to be enshrined in movie history, Turner Classic Movies is giving movie fans its annual look back at Oscar movies of old with the TCM 31 Days of Oscars, and we’ve got the full 31 Days of Oscars schedule for you right here.

Starting Saturday, February 1, and running into the early hours of Tuesday, March 4, the cable movie channel’s programming is going to be centered entirely around Oscar winners and Oscar nominees from year’s past (from 1928-2017, to be exact), with special themed nights and to movies making their TCM premiere as part of the lineup. TCM’s daytime programming over this period is going to be broken up into movies that won or were nominated in Oscar categories, including marquee ones like Best Picture and Best Actor/Actress as well as now defunct categories like Best Original Story. At night, programming will be focused on Oscar-worth performances based around types of characters (i.e. teachers, cowboys, etc.)

Turner Classic Movies is a cable channel, so to watch it you do have to have a TV package that offers it. Most traditional cable subscriptions have TCM, while live TV streaming services like DirecTV Stream, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV and YouTube TV. While we’ve flipped the calendar to 2025, Hollywood still has some 2024 business to take care of. Namely, the Oscars 2025, aka the 97th Academy Awards, which will recognize many of the best movies and performances from the roster of 2024 new movies.

While the Golden Globes, SAG Awards and other ceremonies are key stops in the awards season, the Oscars remain the pinnacle, as does its coveted Best Picture prize. Adding to the excitement this year is the fact that there is no clear front-runner, meaning we should be in for an exciting Oscar ceremony.

What movies are up for awards this year, who is going to serve as the Oscar host and when is all of this going to take place? Read on for everything you need to know about the Oscars 2025.

Oscars 2025 date

The Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 2, at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. The ceremony will air at 7 pm ET/4 pm PT on ABC. If you’re a fan of the red carpet proceedings, those begin at 6:30 pm ET/3:30 pm PT on ABC.

In order to watch the Oscars live you must have access to ABC, which is available through traditional pay-TV providers or a live TV streaming service (Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, YouTube TV and Sling TV, the latter in select markets). You can also receive your local ABC station with a TV antenna. If you miss it live, the ceremony will stream on-demand the next day on Hulu.

Oscars 2025 host

Handling emcee duties this year as the Oscars host is Conan O’Brien.

O’Brien was one of the premier late-night TV hosts for almost 30 years with Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and Conan. Currently, he is the host of the popular podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend and the Emmy-winning Conan O’Brien Must Go. This will mark his first time hosting the Oscars, though he previously hosted the Emmys twice.

“We are thrilled and honored to have the incomparable Conan O’Brien host the Oscars this year,” said Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang. “He is the perfect person to help lead our global celebration of film with his brilliant humor, his love of movies, and his live TV expertise. His remarkable ability to connect with audiences will bring viewers together to do what the Oscars do best--honor the spectacular films and filmmakers of this year.”

O’Brien commented on the announcement in his own trademark way: “America demanded it and now it’s happening: Taco Bell’s new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme. In other news, I’m hosting the Oscars.”

Oscars 2025 behind the scenes

Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan are serving as executive producers for the 97th Academy Awards, with Kapoor also being the showrunner for the ceremony. Hamish Hamilton is directing the proceedings. The three are returning after working on the 2024 Oscars, for which they all won an Emmy; Hamilton has directed the Oscars five times in total.

More creatives from the 96th Oscars are also returning, including production designers Misty Buckley and Alana Billingsley, and red carpet show executive producer David Chamberlin. Michael Bearden is working his first Oscars as the music director.

Awards season is in full swing, and one of the more high profile shows on the calendar is the SAG Awards 2025. This awards show specifically focuses on the performances, as actors weigh in on who they believe gave the best performances of the year across movies and TV.

SAG Awards 2025 host

Kristen Bell has been tapped to host the SAG Awards in 2025, which marks her second straight year serving as the emcee for the night. Bell previously hosted the SAG Awards in 2018.

The SAG Awards has traditionally gone without a host through most of its 30-year history, with Bell serving as the first in 2018. Megan Mullaly followed in 2019, but the show had gone without a host for all ceremonies since 2019 until Bell was tapped to take over hosting duties for the SAG Awards 2025.

“Thrilled to be hosting the SAG Awards again this year,” Bell said in Netflix’s announcement. “I’m honored to be asked back and can’t wait to share the evening with my fellow actors, doing what we do best ... celebrating ourselves 🙂.”

SAG Awards 2025 Life Achievement Award

This year’s recipient of the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award is Jane Fonda, who will be recognized during the ceremony.

Fonda is a two-time Oscar-winning actress (Klute, Coming Home) and a four-time SAG Award nominee, including three for the Netflix series Grace & Frankie. In addition to her work on screen, Fonda has been a lifelong political activist, protesting the Vietnam and Iraq wars and fighting for climate change and women’s rights.

The SAG Awards 2025 is going to take place at Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles.

While Netflix is going to be streaming the awards live for all of its subscribers, the actual show is produced by Silent Hill Productions, in partnership with SAG-AFTRA.

Animated movie Flow becoming available on digital on-demand platforms a couple of days after a surprise win at the 2025 Golden Globes is a perfect example of great timing. As of January 7, you can buy or rent Flow to watch at home, allowing you to catch up with one of the best-reviewed movies of 2024 and recent award winner.

Flow follows a cat named Cat, a solitary animal whose home is devastated by a flood, forcing Cat to find refuge on a boat filled with various species of other animals where they must rely on one another to survive. FYI, these animals do not use the animation trend of talking animals, as there is no dialogue in the movie. Directed by Latvian filmmaker Gints Zilbalodis, Flow is “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 97%.

Despite its acclaim, Flow was a bit of a surprise victor at the Golden Globes, especially as it was competing against animated movies from big Hollywood studios like Inside Out 2, Moana 2 and The Wild Robot. Flow will have a chance to repeat its win at the Oscars, where it could very well be nominated again for Best Animated Feature, or perhaps it could succeed in a new category, as it has made the shortlist of nominees in International Feature Film too.

Instead, Variety and Entertainment Tonight have partnered for the Globes' official red-carpet pre-show, which will air digitally beginning at 6:30 pm ET / 3:30 pm PT on GoldenGlobes.com, ETOnline.com and Variety's website and social platforms, as well as on Paramount Plus. The Globes’ official pre-show will feature exclusive footage of attendees arriving at the Beverly Hilton as well as interviews hosted by Variety journalist Marc Malkin and Entertainment Tonight correspondent Rachel Smith.

And after taking a year off, E! will return to cover the Globes' red carpet with Live From E!: Golden Globes beginning at 6pm ET (3pm PT) on E! The 82nd Annual Golden Globes will air live on Sunday, January 5, at 8pm Eastern Time (5pm Pacific Time) on CBS.

To watch on cable, you can tune in using the main CBS channel, which many cable packages will include as it's a major news channel. If you don't have access to it, several live TV streaming services include it in their bundles: DirecTV, Fubo, Hulu with Live TV and YouTube TV all include it on various plans.

Cord-cutters have cheaper options for watching the Golden Globes than signing up for a cable replacement service though. The awards will also be streamed on the streaming service Paramount Plus for all subscribers on the $12.99-per-month Paramount Plus with Showtime tier. You can use this to stream on any smart device like a phone or tablet.

If you don't need to watch the show live, it'll also be available to watch on demand from Monday, January 8 for all Paramount Plus users, even those on the $7.99-per-month Essential plan. This is the cheapest option, although you will have to avoid spoilers online for a few hours.

How to watch the Golden Globes 2025 in the UK

Unfortunately, there's no official way to watch a Golden Globes 2025 stream in the UK. Though UK-based fans will be able to see clips from the event and winner announcements on the Globes' website and social media channels, Paramount Plus will not be streaming in that country.

How to watch the Golden Globes 2025 in Australia

Aussie fans will be able to tune into tonight's telecast live on free-to-air TV in Australia on Channel 10. Due to the time difference, obviously, the ceremony will start midday on Monday, January 6, with a repeat showing set for 7:30pm AEDT that evening.

The entire ceremony will also be available to stream online for free on the network's 10 Play streaming service later in the day, beginning at 4:30pm AEDT.

How to watch the Golden Globes 2025 everywhere else

Below you’ll find my picks for all 27 categories at this year’s Golden Globes across both movies and TV. The Globes have a history of being a bit harder to predict as they are made up of primarily international journalists, and after a recent shakeup among the voting body many are still trying to get a feel for any tendencies they have. But, at the end of the day this is just a fun exercise on how I think the night may go.

Golden Globe 2025 movie predictions

Best Actress — Comedy: Mikey Madison, Anora

In a stacked category (Demi Moore and Cynthia Erivo loom large as threats), I’m going with Mikey Madison for Anora. She’s been the breakout star on the awards circuit this year for her acclaimed performance as a sex worker whose impulsive marriage to the son of a Russian oligarch quickly becomes extremely complicated. I think she continues that run here.

Actual winner: Demi Moore

Best Actor — Comedy: Sebastian Stan, A Different Man

While Sebastian Stan’s movies have been a little less seen this year by the general public, critics and awards bodies have been signaling it out as the best year of his career. While Jesse Eisenberg is his big competition in my opinion, I think Stan takes the Globe here for A Different Man.

Best Actress — Drama: Angelina Jolie, Maria

While it would be cool to see Pamela Anderson take home a trophy for her comeback role in The Last Showgirl or a real wild card like Fernanda Torres for the international movie I’m Still Here, Angelina Jolie is magnificent as Maria Callas in Maria and deserves her laurels for her first on-screen performance since 2021.

Best Actor — Drama: Timothée Chalamet, A Complete Unknown

Like Best Actress — Comedy, Best Actor — Drama is a category where I could see just about anyone winning. However, I was blown away by Timothée Chalamet’s performance as Boy Dylan in A Complete Unknown and think the voting body of the Globes will have been as well, opting to anoint the young star with his first ever major award win.

Best Supporting Actress: Zoe Saldana, Emilia Perez

This one could come down to two musical performances — Ariana Grande in Wicked and Zoe Saldana in Emilia Perez. I’m going with Saldana though, who sings, dances and brings an emotional heft to the movie musical that deserves recognition. Though to be honest, I would not be mad if Isabella Rossellini pulled the upset for Conclave.

Best Supporting Actor: Kieran Culkin, A Real Pain

Most of the other acting categories still feel a bit unsettled this year, but Kieran Culkin is quickly becoming the runaway favorite from here to the Oscars. I think that's cemented with a Globes.

Best Original Score: The Brutalist

One of the only “below-the-line” categories the Globes recognizes, I’m going with the movie that has received a lot of the praise for its work there, The Brutalist. Though with work from Hans Zimmer (Dune: Part Two), Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (Challengers), Kris Bowers (The Wild Robot) and more, this is the one I’m least confident in.

Best Original Song: 'Kiss the Sky,' The Wild Robot

Despite Emilia Perez having two chances at the award, I’m going with The Wild Robot’s powerful anthem, which was wonderfully performed by Maren Morris in the movie.

Best Screenplay: Sean Baker, Anora

Sean Baker has been an indie favorite for many years now, but Anora is his most widely acclaimed and successful movie, and a big part of that is his excellent writing. I see Coarlie Fargeat’s The Substance and Jesse Eisenberg’s script for A Real Pain as the big challengers, but I think Anora takes the prize here.

Actual winner: Conclave

Best Director: Brady Corbet, The Brutalist

The Brutalist is an incredible accomplishment — a decade-spanning story that at its heart is an intimate story about a man’s struggle to find the American dream after immigrating to the country as a refugee from World War Two, yet it feels as big as the likes of Dune or Gladiator 2. That is a credit to Brady Corbet’s direction, which I think will be rewarded at the Globes.

Cinematic Box Office Achievement: Wicked

Only the second year that this award has been handed out, it’s hard to know how the Globes will go. Last year they gave the prize to 2023’s biggest movie at the box office, Barbie. If that’s the bar, then Inside Out 2 should win. But instead, I think they’ll be more open to what merits a win, and in this case give it to the movie that became the biggest phenomenon of the year, Wicked.

Best Motion Picture — Animated: The Wild Robot

While the Globes could go for the acclaimed international animated movie Flow, The Wild Robot received three other nominations outside of this category (most of any animated movie), which lends me to believe there is wide support for it, enough to snag the win.

Best Motion Picture — Non-English Language: Emilia Perez

Similarly, Emilia Perez was the most nominated movie this year by the Globes, so I think it is walking away with one of the Best Motion Picture prizes. I’m going with Non-English Language in this case.

Best Motion Picture — Comedy: Anora & Best Motion Picture — Drama: The Brutalist

Ultimately, I think the night will belong to Anora and The Brutalist, as both movies earn the big prizes of the evening and tie for the most Globe wins among movies with three apiece, cementing their places as two of the favorites for the rest of the awards calendar.

Best Actress — Comedy: Jean Smart, Hacks

I was tempted to pick Kristen Bell here, but Jean Smart is so consistently brilliant and hilarious in Hacks season 3 that even with the Globes’ tendency to want to recognize some of the newer shows and performers, they can’t deny recognizing Smart once again.

Best Actor — Comedy: Adam Brody, Nobody Wants This

Where Bell came up short, I think Adam Brody will win the Golden Globe for Best Actor — Comedy. As one half of a new favorite TV couple in Nobody Wants This, Brody gave arguably the best performance of his career.

Best Actress — Drama: Anna Sawai, Shogun

Clear some more space on your trophy case Anna Sawai, after winning the Emmy for Shogun, the Globes should follow as her performance as Mariko is undeniably brilliant. If there’s an upset looming though, it could be from Kathy Bates for Matlock.

Best Actor — Drama: Hiroyuki Sanada, Shogun

I think it’s going to be a good night for Shogun, with Hiroyuki Sanada’s brilliant and noble performance as the calculating Toranaga in the epic period drama closing out the two Drama acting prizes for the show.

Best Actress — Limited Series, Anthology or TV Movie: Jodie Foster, True Detective: Night Country

The Golden Globes have shown their love for Jodie Foster in the past, including giving her the Cecil B. DeMille Award for her career’s work. But now I expect they’ll recognize her great work on TV in True Detective: Night Country.

Best Actor — Limited Series, Anthology or TV Movie: Colin Farrell, The Penguin

Not picking Richard Gadd for Baby Reindeer here does scare me a bit, but like Foster, the Globes have a thing for Colin Farrell (he’s a two-time winner) and his performance in The Penguin is widely lauded and awards-worthy.

Best Supporting Actress: Jessica Gunning, Baby Reindeer

Baby Reindeer gets its trophy here for Jessica Gunning’s buzzy performance, repeating her win from the Emmys and many other voting bodies.

Best Supporting Actor: Javier Bardem, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story

Here’s my upset pick of the night. The likeliest picks are either Ebon-Moss Bachrach for The Bear season 3 or Tadanobu Asano continuing Shogun’s big night, but I’m predicting that Javier Bardem wins for Netflix’s buzzy show about the Menendez brothers.

Best TV Stand-Up Comedy Performance: Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was

Nikki Glasser is hosting the Globes and nominated in this category. If she won she would join Sandra Oh in winning a Globe the same night she hosted. But I think the Globes go for the emotional pick and recognize Jamie Foxx, who returned to stand up to help explain what his scary medical situation in 2023 was all about.

Best Limited Series, Anthology or TV Movie: Baby Reindeer

It was a good year for this category (I haven’t mentioned Disclaimer and Ripley, but they round out this category with Baby Reindeer, Monsters, The Penguin and True Detective). Ultimately, I’m going with Baby Reindeer to win big.

Best TV Series — Comedy: Nobody Wants This

The Globes take the opportunity to become the first awards show to hand its top prize to Nobody Wants This, naming it the best comedy of the year.

Best TV Series — Drama: Shogun

Shogun wins because it was the biggest, most talked about and all around best drama on TV this year.

The 2025 Golden Globe nominations were announced on Monday, December 9, as the Golden Globe Journalists made their picks for the best movies and TV shows of the last year. Awards season is upon us, and one of the biggest events of the calendar is the Golden Globes. The annual Hollywood gathering recognizes some of the best work across movies and TV from the past year, as judged by the journalists that make up the voting body. Let us catch you up on everything you need to know about this year’s ceremony, Golden Globes 2025.

One of the things that makes the Golden Globes unique from its most notable contemporary (The Oscars) is that it splits its categories into genres — Drama and Comedy/Musicals. This allows for the show to recognize some more of the great work of the year, including some titles that might not get the chance among other voting bodies. On the TV side, the Globes is often known for recognizing new shows, as they are one of the first major awards bodies to consider shows that premiere in the fall.

Golden Globes 2025 date

The Golden Globes 2025 take place on Sunday, January 5, at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. The awards ceremony airs on CBS.

In order to watch the Golden Globes 2025 you must have access to your local CBS station, be that through a traditional pay-TV provider, a TV antenna or a live TV streaming service with access to CBS (Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, YouTube TV). You can also stream the awards ceremony live on Paramount Plus with Showtime; all Paramount Plus subscribers will be able to stream the show on-demand the following day.

Golden Globes 2025 Host

The Golden Globes have tapped comedian Nikki Glaser as the host for the Golden Globes 2025. This is Glaser's first time hosting the Globes, but it is also a first for the Golden Globes, as she is the first woman to host the ceremony solo (Sandra Oh co-hosted with Andy Samberg, while Tina Fey and Amy Pohler were a team).

Glaser made headlines earlier this year for her great set during Netflix's The Roast of Tom Brady, but she has been a popular figure on the stand-up circuit for years. She was also the host of the reality series FBoy Island. Glaser received her first-ever Emmy nomination this past year for her stand-up special, Nikki Glaser: Someday You'll Die.

Golden Globes 2025: Cecil B. DeMille Award

The Cecil B. DeMille Award is the Golden Globes' lifetime achievement award recognizing landmark figures from the film industry. The recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award for the Golden Globes 2025 is Viola Davis.

Davis is a Golden Globe winner for Best Supporting Actress for the 2016 movie Fences (a role she also won an Oscar for), with seven Golden Globe nominations in total. Davis is best known for her roles in movies like The Help, Widows, The Woman King and more. She has also produced many movies, including Troop Zero and The Woman King.

“Viola Davis is a luminary whose profound talent has continuously shifted the lens through which we see and understand film,” stated Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes. “Presenting her with the 2025 Cecil B. DeMille Award is not only an honor but a reflection of our admiration for her relentless dedication to her craft and her monumental impact on the industry. Viola’s courage in portraying complex, powerful characters has broken barriers and paved new paths, making her an emblem of excellence and an ideal recipient of this prestigious award.”

Golden Globes 2025: Carol Burnett Award

The TV version of the Golden Globes Lifetime Achievement Award is the Carol Burnett Award, named for the legendary comedian. This year's recipient is Ted Danson.

Danson has starred in some of the most popular TV series of all time, most notably Cheers, but also Becker, Damages, Bored to Death, CSI and The Good Place. He currently stars in the popular Netflix original series A Man on the Inside. Danson is a 12-time Golden Globe nominee (including one for this year) and a three-time winner.

“Ted Danson has entertained audiences for decades with his performances that will forever be ingrained in television history,” said Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes. “His career is a testament to his remarkable talent and versatility as an actor and bears resemblance to the award’s namesake. It is an honor to present him with the 2025 Carol Burnett Award to celebrate the tremendous impact he has made and continues to make in television.”

With powerful storylines, intriguing new arrivals and heart-breaking departures, it has been a busy and dramatic 12 months in ITV1’s Emmerdale – and now it is officially your Favourite Soap!

The last year in Emmerdale has seen Belle Dingle fighting back after suffering horrendous abuse at the hands of her new husband, Tom King, while the show lost a legend when Zak Dingle passed away off-screen recently.

We have also seen Moira undergo brain surgery, drama at Home Farm between Kim and Will after Rose arrived to cause trouble, baby Evan being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, Ethan's shocking death and Ella's dark past was also revealed. After all that, it is no surprise the soap has captured the nation's hearts.

To celebrate their win, we joined actors Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle), Jack Downham (Noah Dingle), Beth Cordingly (Ruby Fox-Miligan), Emma Atkins (Charity Dingle), Kevin Mathurin (Charles Anderson) and Lawrence Robb (Mackenzie Boyd) on the set of The Woolpack as they proudly accepted the trophy on behalf of the Emmerdale team.

The first thing out of my mouth when I saw the news that Conan O’Brien would be hosting the 97th Oscars taking place this March was not quite safe for work. It was pure shock as the former late night host, podcaster and, more recently, viral hit from his Hot Ones appearance was never in my mind as a potential Oscars host. My shock quickly turned to excitement as I thought of just how much fun it could be to have O’Brien emcee Hollywood’s biggest night.

O’Brien was — still is honestly — my favorite late night personality, as his zany antics and outrageous humor were so much fun to watch over the years (some I still watch on occasion on YouTube). Though he ended his late night show in 2021, I’m an avid listener to his podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend and loved watching his Max travel series Conan O’Brien Must Go (season 2 is on the way).

With that being the case, of course I’m obviously excited to see what one of my favorite comedians is going to have in store to keep the Oscars telecast a lively experience. But my fandom is not the reason why I believe O’Brien could be one of the better Oscar hosts in recent years. It’s the fact that O’Brien was such a left field pick.

Everyone says that hosting the Oscars is a thankless job. You do well, nobody cares, as success usually means you didn’t do or say anything stupid or make the traditionally three hour-plus broadcast feel longer than it already is. You do poorly, you get raked over the coals for a bit. And if you’re actively part of the industry, there are some inherent risks in poking fun at your peers that have the potential to impact you in the future.

O’Brien is at a point in his career where those risks are minimized. He’s not a late night host anymore, so he doesn’t have to appease a network in fear of losing his job or anything. He’s also likely not too concerned about impressing or pissing off any Hollywood bigwigs, as a movie career does not seem to be of any real interest to him. Yet while he’s not heavily involved in the moviemaking industry, he and his schtick is a known entity from the last 30-plus years that his bits aren’t likely going to be jarring or misunderstood by the audience.

O’Brien also has experience handling this type of show before, as he hosted the Emmys twice. Experience matters, that’s why you typically see Oscar hosts that get more than one shot at it feel more comfortable and run a smoother show.

We had that consistency in recently at the Oscars with Jimmy Kimmel hosting the last two years and four times overall. Kimmel was about as good as you want from a host, but it typically felt safe. That’s not a bad thing as you try to appease a wide base, but the only memorable bit I remember from his stints was joking he’d award a jet ski to the person with the shortest acceptance speech (though he did a commendable job trying to handle the Moonlight/La La Land snafu).

With O’Brien, I honestly have no idea what he could have in store, and that’s thrilling. Yet I’m also not worried about him crossing the line; years on TV, he knows how to push the edge without crossing it. This could be a one time thing for O’Brien (gone are the days of Bob Hope hosting nearly every year, or Billy Crystal’s impressive run of outings), but I could also see this be part of a new chapter in O’Brien’s career should it be something he wants to become a part of his brand.

All in all, O’Brien has a great mix of self-deprecation (see his post where he shared that he is hosting the Oscars), irreverence but also a respect for the history of show business that I believe could make him a great Oscar host. While I’m always excited to see what Oscar nominees end up winning the big awards at the ceremony, this year I’ll be most excited to see what O’Brien does to put his own spin on Oscar night.

The 97th Oscars take place on March 2, 2025, at 7 pm ET/4 pm PT.

A spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is widely considered music's highest honor, and this year's illustrious nominees are coming together alongside live performers and special guests to celebrate the momentous occasion. You'll get to tune into every unforgettable musical minute as the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony airs tonight, October 19, live from Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio. 

Ranging from the Queen of R&B, Mary J. Blige, to the Prince of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne, the 2024 class of inductees are "a diverse group of legendary artists spanning multiple generations and genres" that "represent the power of musical creativity and the ability to shape the sound and style of popular music over the past several decades," the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame said in a statement. Fellow 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees include pop icon Cher, rootsy rockers Dave Matthews Band, sunny singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffet, soul-funk band Kool & The Gang, legendary vocalist Dionne Warwick and acclaimed hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest, among others. 

Along with electric live performances from those legends, the ceremony will also feature a star-studded slate of special presenters and performers to honor the occasion, including Dr. Dre, Dua Lipa, James Taylor, Julia Roberts, Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, Demi Lovato, Busta Rhymes and Slash. “Every year the biggest names in music, film and culture step onto the stage at our ceremony to pay tribute to the iconic inductees whose music has defined generations," said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “These are once in a lifetime moments created that will be remembered forever.”

The Induction Ceremony will stream live coast to coast on Disney Plus on Saturday, October 19 at 7pm and will be available to stream following the ceremony. If you don't have a Disney Plus subscription, ABC will air a special primetime presentation of the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, which will also be available to watch the next day for Hulu subscribers. ABC is included with most basic cable packages; however, if you've cut the cord, you can also tune into the music special via a live TV streaming service that carries the network, such as DirecTV, Fubo TV and YouTube TV. 

Created by TV icon Dick Clark back in 1973 to compete with the Grammy Awards, the American Music Awards is celebrating its big 50th anniversary this year and they're doing so with a star-studded extravaganza tonight on TV.

Airing concurrently on both coasts on CBS on Sunday, October 6 (at 8pm Eastern Time and 5pm Pacific), the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special will "commemorate half a century of iconic moments, unforgettable performances, and rich pop culture history with a two-hour broadcast," per the network. The special "will serve as a tribute to the past 50 years and feature dazzling new performances, heartfelt artist interviews, legendary special guests, and exclusive never-before-seen footage."

Given the momentous occasion, producers have unsurprisingly put together an A-list lineup of performers for the anniversary special. Two-time AMA winner Brad Paisley will honor the late Charley Pride, the first American Music Award (AMA) winner for Country Male and Country Album, while Jennifer Hudson will tribute 22-time AMA winner Whitney Houston with a moving performance. Gladys Knight—a seven-time AMA winner who performed on the first American Music Awards in 1974—will return to the awards show 50 years later for an encore performance of “Midnight Train to Georgia." 

Green Day will celebrate the history of Rock music at the AMAs with a performance of their latest hit "Dilemma," while Chaka Khan will represent 50 years of achievements by female artists on the AMAs with a special performance of her iconic anthem “I’m Every Woman." And music icon Mariah Carey will perform a medley of her hits to kick off the 20th anniversary celebration of her multi-platinum album The Emancipation of Mimi. Country superstar Kane Smith, singer-songwriter RAYE and K-pop phenomenon Stray Kids will also be taking to the stage during the two-hour broadcast. 

To tune into the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special tonight, you're going to need access to CBS. CBS is one of the four main broadcast networks in the US (along with ABC, Fox and NBC), and as such it is easily accessible through a number of options. First the channel is considered a "must carry" and included in all traditional pay-TV plans. It is also easily accessible if you opt for a TV antenna, with the devices able to pick up local station signals. If you prefer going with a more "new school" approach, live TV streaming services like Fubo, Hulu with Live TV and YouTube TV carry CBS as part of their channel lineups.

The anniversary special will also be available to stream Paramount Plus. You can watch it live and on-demand if you're a Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs.

And if you're asking yourself, "Wait, didn't the Emmys already happen this year?" yes, due to the writers' and actors' strikes with studios last year, the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards were confusingly moved to January 2024, which means we got a double dose of the TV ceremony this year. The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held tonight, September 15 live coast-to-coast on ABC at 8pm ET / 5pm PT.

Among the attendees will be Emmys 2024 nominees like the cast of FX's Shōgun—which tops the list of most nominations with 25 nods, including Best Drama—as well as Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri and the rest of the gang from fellow FX title The Bear, which comes in second with 23 nominations. Other series nominated tonight include The Gilded Age, The Morning Show, Abbott Elementary, Hacks, Only Murders in the Building and Slow Horses.

How to watch the Emmys 2024 red carpet

There are several ways to tune into the red-carpet glamour before the Emmys 2024 ceremony is broadcast at 8pm Eastern on September 15.

E! will kick off its coverage an hour before the red carpet officially begins with Live from E!: Countdown to the Emmys at 5pm ET on the network. Zuri Hall will host the pre-show fashion special, with a panel featuring actress Melissa Peterman (Happy's Place), E! style correspondent Zanna Roberts Rassi, and fashion designer and Project Runway winner Christian Siriano. The experts will discuss the night's top nominees, the year's major fashion trends and more. 

The pre-show party will continue on that channel at 6pm ET with Live From E!: Emmy’s, where actress Laverne Cox and comedian Heather McMahan will hit the red carpet along with E! New’s Keltie Knight to interview the evening's biggest names and find out exactly what everyone is wearing. Cord-cutters can watch E! without cable on Sling TV, Hulu with Live TV, Fubo TV and YouTube TV, but E!'s red-carpet coverage will also stream on the outlet's media accounts, including TikTok, YouTube and Instagram.

And PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly will again join forces for their own Red Carpet Live: 76th Emmy Awards digital special, hosted by Entertainment Weekly editor-in-chief Patrick Gomez and PEOPLE editor-at-large Janine Rubenstein. Pre-show coverage will begin streaming at 6pm ET / 3pm PT People.com and EW.com as well as both publications' YouTube and social platforms.

We're entering the final four months of 2024, and movie fans know what that means: it's awards season. From the fall film festivals to the start of critics and independent organizations handing out end-of-year awards, we're setting out on the road to the Oscars. We're here to help you know which movies you need to be keeping an eye on as potential Oscar nominees.

While September through December is the prime time to release movies studios hope will garner awards attention, that doesn't mean we've been bereft of award-worthy movies this year. Dune: Part Two is almost certainly going to be a major factor at the Oscars, while other early Oscar hopefuls include Sing Sing, Hit Man and Inside Out 2; so definitely try and check those out if you haven't already.

But as far as upcoming 2024 new movies that you should be aware of if you're trying to prognosticate who may be the latest addition to the slate of Best Picture winners, then find out more about these 33 movies that could hear their name called.

All We Imagine as Light

As the Academy has added to its overall membership with filmmakers from outside the US, the Oscars have been more willing to recognize international productions (i.e. Parasite, All Quiet on the Western Front, Anatomy of a Fall). All We Imagine as Light is one of the headlining international entries this year, as the movie was a Palme d'Or nominee at the Cannes Film Festival back in May and currently boasts a 100% "Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It follows two roommates in Mumbai as they deal with the struggles of their relationships. 

Anora

The movie that beat All We Imagine as Light for the Palme d'Or this year was Anora, the latest from indie darling Sean Baker (Tangerine, The Florida Project). Anora follows the Cinderella-like story of a sex worker (Mikey Madison) who impulsively marries the son of a Russian oligarch. But the fairytale is threatened when his parents hear about the news. Four of the last five Palme d'Or winners wound up being nominated for Best Picture, can Anora make it five of six? 

Babygirl

• Cast: Nicole Kidman, Harris Dickinson, Sophia Wilde, Antonio Banderas
• Director: Halina Reijn

One of multiple A24 movies we have on this list, Babygirl takes a different lens to look at the troublesome culture of workplace romance and power dynamics. Nicole Kidman stars as a powerful CEO who threatens her career and personal life when she begins an affair with a much younger intern, played by Harris Dickinson. Kidman, having just been given the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award earlier this year, could be in line for another Oscar if this one lives up the billing. 

Blitz

It's been six years since Steve McQueen, director of Best Picture winner 12 Years a Slave, has helmed a narrative feature (though he's been busy with the acclaimed TV series Small Axe and a couple of documentaries), but he's back with Blitz, a World War 2 story of a young boy determined to return to his mother in London during the Nazi bombing of the city known as the Blitz. This has all the makings of a big-time contender — WW2 setting, a sure-to-be enthralling story, great cast and a well known director — now it just has to deliver.

The Brutliast

• Director: Brady Corbet

When talking about massive, bold epics coming out in fall 2024, much of the talk has been around Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis, but Brady Corbet's The Brutalist is could be the breakout hit between the two. The story centers on a Holocaust survivor and his wife, who come to America and have their life forever changed by a wealthy benefactor. The movie was shot on 70mm and is said to be more than three hours. If it works, it could be then can't miss movie of the year.
