After three years of co-hosting C4’s The Great British Bake Off with Noel Fielding, the excitement of immersing herself in the glorious world of gingham-clad tables, bucketloads of bunting and a deluge of delicious delicacies still hasn’t worn off for Alison Hammond.

"I’ve never worked on a show where such a cross-section of people come up to talk to me about it. It really brings people together. It’s happy TV. I love it!" says the always bubbly Brummie. "Each series is completely different and this is a lovely, quality season."

The Great British Baking Show 2025 is finally here, once again kicking off 10 weeks of cake-related catastrophes and mouthwatering recipes as a new batch of bakers enter the tent all with one mission in mind — impress Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith enough to win the title of Star Baker.

The new series, which landed in the UK on Channel 4 on Tuesday, September 2, is now available to watch in the US on Netflix, with new episodes landing on the streaming site every Friday.

As we get to know the new bakers, who have all got their sights set on earning themselves a coveted Hollywood handshake, this series looks like it's going to be the best yet, as it gets off to one of the most dramatic starts ever when Cake Week almost ends in catastrophe.

While we don't want to spoil the drama for you, let's just say there are more soggy bottoms than sponge-based masterpieces this week as the bakers are tasked with first making a Swiss Roll with an inlay design, before having to create a batch of Fondant Fancies for the technical challenge with no recipe at all.

Finally, the bakers are faced with creating a landscape cake for their showstopper, which ends in varying levels of success.

The bakers taking part this year are Toby, Nadia, Aaron, Leighton, Jessika, Jasmine, Hassan, Lesley, Front row: Tom, Pui Man, Iain, Nataliia - but who will be improving their baking skills each week and joining The Great British Baking Show winners list, and who will be feeling the heat in the tent before they're sent home?

Hosted once again by Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, the 16th season gets underway on Channel 4 in the UK on Tuesday, September 2 and on Netflix in the US – where it is called The Great British Baking Show – from Friday, September 5. And as the competition kicks off with Cake Week, Paul and Prue are putting the new bakers through their paces in the tent with three tough challenges – a swiss roll Signature, fondant fancies for the Technical and a landscape cake for the Showstopper.

The Great British Bake Off is back! What were the bakers like this year?

Paul Hollywood: “The bakers this year are amazing and really nice. What we're attracting now is not just bakers, they're engineers, they're artists, they're creative, so their bakes are elevated to another level. ‘This was the hardest year to decide who's going to leave. The quality was excellent."

Prue Leith: “Every year, I think it can't get better. But it does! They were a good mix. We had very artistic people, like hairdressers and a wedding stylist and designers, so their Showstoppers were amazing. And they were good fun!”

The Great British Bake Off starts in the UK on Tuesday, September 2 at 8pm on Channel 4 and will be available on the channel’s streaming site from the same date. And in the US it will air as The Great British Baking Show from Friday, September 5 on Netflix.

The Great British Bake Off 2025 is getting ready to welcome a new batch of 12 brave contenders who will be entering TV’s most famous tent in a bid to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith.

Before the 16th series of the culinary contest begins, we’ve got an early look at the amateur bakers who will be donning their aprons to create all manner of Signatures, Technicals and Showstoppers under the watchful eye of hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding.

AARON

SENIOR SYSTEMS ARCHITECT, 38, FROM LONDON

Originally from Manchester, Aaron, who lives with boyfriend Anthony, loves adding Caribbean twists to French patisserie and experimenting with Asian flavours. Outside of baking, he enjoys making his own liqueurs, sewing, cycling and lifting weights, and he is teaching himself French while also studying for a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Data Analytics.

HASSAN

ANALYTICAL RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT SCIENTIST, 30, FROM SOUTH YORKSHIRE

The chemistry graduate, who tests new drugs in the pharmaceutical industry, uses his scientific prowess in his baking and, along with learning different skills, he likes to research new tastes and recipes, and he frequently includes nutty flavours that are a key element in the sweets from his Pakistani roots. Hassan, who lives with his mum, is a keen gamer and quizzer in his spare time.

IAIN

SOFTWARE ENGINEER, 29, FROM BELFAST

A one-time amateur powerlifter, Iain, who originally comes from Coleraine, lives with girlfriend Dervla and cat Viktor. The music-lover dubs himself ‘Yeastie Boy’ due to his enthusiasm for sourdough and he has fun recreating album cover art in the crusts of his loaves. He is also a fan of pickling and utilises fermented fruit and vegetables to give a new spin to classic flavours in his bakes.

JASMINE

MEDICAL STUDENT, 23, FROM LONDON

Edinburgh-born Jasmine grew up making bread and cakes with her mum and aunts, and batch-baked for family holidays in the Highlands. Now, as respite from her medical studies and hospital placements, she whips up treats using fresh, seasonal ingredients and traditional flavours. She lives with her cousins and is a keen sea-swimmer, half-marathon runner and hockey player.

JESSIKA

SERVICE DESIGNER, 32, FROM LONDON

Jessika was raised in Cornwall, where she and sister used to enjoy eating cake after dance classes, and she loves demonstrating her gymnastics and roller-skating talents when she performs as her colourful Drag King persona. She likes to display her creativity and innovation in her baking by mixing surprising flavours, and she often makes birthday entremets for her friends.

LEIGHTON

SOFTWARE DELIVERY MANAGER, 59, FROM SURREY

Originally from Swansea, Leighton used to play the organ in his local church when he was growing up. Married to Californian Eric, he likes to blend Welsh/British and American influences in his bakes, while he uses his fondness for maths and formulae to create the perfect recipes. He has an Irish Terrier, Cilla, and frequently sings tunes from musical Les Misérables while cooking up a storm!

LESLEY

HAIRDRESSER, 59, FROM KENT

Avid birdwatcher and gardener Lesley, who lives with partner Mark and dogs Norman and Marley, has been baking since she was 10 after being taught by her nanny and auntie. Now, she serves cakes to her hairdressing clients and makes comforting traditional bakes with modern, eye-catching designs. She is eager to inspire her granddaughter, Mabel, to follow in her footsteps.

NADIA

HAIRDRESSER, 41, FROM LIVERPOOL

Ex-personal trainer Nadia has a penchant for fusing Italian and Indian cuisine and was inspired to cook by her dad, an Italian chef. The Scouser lives with partner Daniel and daughters Rosa-Bella and Maria and makes big Sunday feasts for her family. She creates novelty cakes and develops imaginative approaches to classic recipes to suit her rustic and soulful style, and she loves dancing in her kitchen!

NATALIIA

OFFICE ASSISTANT, 32, FROM EAST YORKSHIRE

Economics graduate Nataliia moved from Ukraine four years ago and her family followed on as refugees from the war with Russia. Her grandmother sparked her love of baking and she now uses Ukrainian-inspired ingredients, such as honey and spices, in old-school British bakes. She enjoys running, painting and walking her Ukrainian rescue dog Aria, and she lives with husband Harry and daughter Francesca.

PUI MAN

BRIDAL DESIGNER, 51, FROM ESSEX

Ardent knitter Pui Man, who was born in Hong Kong, lives with her husband and two children, and volunteers to distribute surplus food from supermarkets to her community. She rediscovered the joy of baking in lockdown and has an eye for detail when designing wedding dresses, and brings the same perfectionism to her bakes – and she would love a hug from Paul Hollywood!

TOBY

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE, 29, FROM WARWICKSHIRE

Raised in Sidmouth, Devon, Toby lives with girlfriend Syd and rescue dog Bex, and he has spent the last three years renovating his home. He works for a fitness start-up and has a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, so he tries to bring a simple, healthy take to his bakes, which are based on classic recipes and flavours. Bread is his forte and each day he makes something different.

TOM

CREATIVE ENTREPRENEUR, 31, FROM LONDON

Tom, who has been with his boyfriend for three years, used to work at his own advertising agency, but food is his passion, which he shares with his family, as he learnt to bake with his mum and Danish granny, and he now fishes with his brother and forages for mushrooms and cooks roasts with his dad. He adds creative twists to his bakes and he prides himself on his presentation.

The Great British Bake Off 2025 will air on Channel 4 later this autumn and we will let you know the exact date as soon as it is announced.

The Great British Bake Off 2025 (or The Great British Baking Show if you're in the US) is on the way, and once again, the series has just released a gem of a trailer.

Over the years, the show's trailers have become a highlight for fans with their cheeky humour and quirkiness, and this year's offering is no different.

The new clip, which is just over a minute long, opens at the beginning of time, and soon, what looks like a meteor starts flying through a starry sky. However, in a hilarious twist, the rock turns out to be an egg, falling into a bowl of cake mixture.

The animated trailer then sees the evolution of humans, which turn into Noel and Alison before opening with a sunny, fully formed world, complete with animals, plants, and even a Prue Leith-shaped sunshine.

Fans will be thrilled that the trailer confirms Prue will be returning to the series after she was replaced in The Great Celebrity Bake Off 2025 earlier this year by Caroline Waldegrave OBE.

While we still have a little wait to find out who will be taking part in the series this year, the show will follow the same format and once again see more cake-related catastrophes and mouthwatering recipes.

We will also have a new batch of bakers enter the tent, all with one mission in mind — impress Paul and Prue enough to win the coveted title of Star Baker, and perhaps with the odd Hollywood handshake added in for good measure.

Each week, the bakers will once again face the regular challenge trinity: the signature, technical and showstopper. Alongside returning themes of Cake, Biscuit, Caramel, Bread, Pastry, Dessert, and Pâtisserie, last year we saw two new weeks: Autumn and 1970s.

The Great British Bake Off 2025 will return to Channel 4 in the UK and Netflix in the US.

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and his famed no-holds-barred, tough-love approach were on the case in Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service episode "Bruno's," which aired on August 6.

Bruno's Restaurant is located in Lafayette Hill near Philadelphia. It's known as a traditional diner with all of the diner favorites like burgers, fries and milkshakes, plus Philly cheesesteaks and hoagies, of course. So was Ramsay able to help Bruno's Restaurant? Is Bruno's Restaurant still open?

Here's the description of the episode: "Established 36 years ago, Bruno’s remains a beacon of familiarity and joy for loyal customers in Philadelphia’s community. However, Gordon’s sleuthing reveals the restaurant’s failure to meet updated kitchen practices, therefore subject to unhygienic health concerns. With a stubborn owner and frustrated son, Gordon’s assignment proves to be challenging as he urges a natural transition for the future of the restaurant and father-son duo."

We're happy to report that Bruno's Restaurant is still open for business.

The Bruno's Restaurant Instagram page hasn't been updated in a while, but there are a few looks at the updated interior of the restaurant since Gordon Ramsay's visit.

As of publication, the restaurant has a 4.2 rating on Google Reviews (with 629 reviews as of August 6).

"I've been coming here since I was a kid and while it's had its ups and downs it never fails to bring me joy," one commenter wrote, adding "they're currently on an upswing."

"I go to Bruno's several times a year. It's a friendly neighborhood greasy spoon. The food is what you would expect: not bad. The coffee is good. The waitresses hardworking, friendly, salt of the earth people," another reviewer said.

"Rarely do I write reviews while I'm still eating," noted a reviewer, "but this place impressed me so much... I wish I lived closer so I could come back."

Indeed, the most recent reviews indicate that whatever happened after Bruno's reopened, it seems to be working and visitors are very happy with the updates.

We're happy to see that things seem to be moving in a positive direction for Bruno's Restaurant after Gordon Ramsay's intervention.

The new series of MasterChef has been the most talked-about show of the year for all the wrong reasons.

We won't go into all the headlines again, other than to say that both presenters, Gregg Wallace and John Torode, have been sacked, but as the show was already filmed, they will appear in the new series. Although it is understood that the series has been edited to reduce their screen time.

And yes, the BBC has resisted calls not to air the series, and episode 1 will go out tonight — Wednesday, August 6 — on BBC1 at 8 pm. It runs for an hour until 9 pm. Ignore AI overviews that says it isn't on! Then episode 2 will air the following night at the same time on BBC1.

Tasks in the first heat involve turning a humble set of ingredients into a showstopper of a dish, a mystery box containing trout, chocolate and beetroot and cooking a two-course meal for last year's MasterChef champion Brin Pirathapan and finalists Chris Willoughby and Louise Lyons Macleod.

The BBC is planning to focus on the contestants, so that's what we will do. In Heat 1, they are Beth, Gemma, Gon, Penelope, Shaun, and Thea...

Beth

Beth is a 40-year-old vocal coach who lives in Northampton with her partner, Peter. Asked what her favourite ingredient is, she replied: "My favourite cooking ingredient is a lemon. I love lemons in drinks, savouries and desserts. The versatility but boldness of the citrus does it for me every time! Whether it’s with fish or gin… perfection."

Gemma

Gemma is a 32-year-old Head of Business, who lives in London with husband Ziggy and their dog Chilli. She was born in Hong-Kong and grew up in Singapore and Malaysia. Asked about her cooking style she says: "I'm inspired by everything from Asian street food to high-end restaurants and cheeky late-night takeaway cravings. I'm also a bit of a cookbook addict, I'll happily devour anything from anywhere in the world. It keeps things fresh and pushes me to try new things in the kitchen."

Gon

Gon is a 26-year-old Recruiter and Thai Boxing Coach who lives in Coventry with his Dad. He was born in Thailand and moved to Coventry when he was seven. Asked about how he got into cooking, he said: "I got into cooking through my mum and the rest of my family. I was brought up on amazing food cooked with love. I had to replicate the endless core memories and great moments that food has created for me."

Penelope

Penelope is a 70 year-old writer who lives in Dorset with her very spoilt Tibetan Terrier, Panda Bear. She was born and raised in New Zealand and moved to Australia when she was 20. Talking about her cooking style, she says: "My style has been described as eclectic. Perhaps you could call it a new Antipodean-based style like ‘Con-Fusion’, because it confounds some people until they taste it. This week it has been a breakfast of chilled strawberries on hot buttered toast, with a dollop of salted rosewater and cardamom ice-cream. After all, it does have all the elements of toast and jam."

Shaun

Shaun is a 28-year-old Digital Marketing Manager from Manchester. He was born in Zimbabwe and grew up in Cambridge. Asked about how he got into cooking, he replied: "I’ve been surrounded by food for as long as I can remember. My dad was a professional chef and my mum ran a bakery, so good food was always a part of my daily life. From a young age, they encouraged me to cook, teaching me to trust my intuition in the kitchen rather than always sticking to recipes. That instinctive approach has stuck with me ever since."

Thea

Thea is a 28-year-old Marketing Coordinator who lives in London. Talking about her earliest cooking memory, she recalls: "I have fond memories of when I was taught to make carbonara by my mother. It was one of the simplest recipes but I found it the most difficult to perfect. After countless practice and multiple failures (too scrambled or too runny egg) I have now made it my signature dish."

When is MasterChef heat 2 and who's in it?

Heat 2 is on Thursday, August 7 on BBC 1 at 8 pm. The next group of amateur cooks, including a nurse, an accountant and a landscape gardener, step into the kitchen.

Their first task sees them transforming an everyday ingredient into something special, with the best two awarded a MasterChef apron and storming into the next round. The rest face the mystery box, with cauliflower, bacon and pear on offer - and again, only two will make it through to the last stage, cooking a two-course meal for MasterChef champions Jane Devonshire (2016), Irini Tzortzoglou (2019) and Shelina Permalloo (2012)

“Looking at those first few days in the kitchen, this is the highest level we’ve ever had,” adds Emma. “Sometimes the dishes can look a bit rough around the edges but actually taste amazing. This year, I thought everyone’s first cook looked great and tasted great… Well, from what we’ve managed to snatch off the counter anyway!”

Speaking about this year’s batch of celebs Tom says: “I think Hugh is very good, better than he lets on, Jack is very calm and Natalie is very into it, but she is quite nervous.”

“Yes, Hugh very much plays it down but his food is spectacular and Jack’s really good too,” agrees Emma. “Jess is really capable in the kitchen, but sometimes her nerves take over a bit. Also, I think, on paper, you might expect Jordan to struggle - but he’s honestly been such a lovely surprise.”

It will be a great chance to learn something new. I mean, it's not everyday you get the chance to learn how to cook from incredibly talented chefs!”

Kelly Hoppen

Mentor: Michael Caines

“I have no idea why I’m doing this - I’d rather do a dance off than the cook off!” says Kelly. “Michael is so on my wavelength in terms of how he sees a recipe and I see a room, we have the same visual mind and he has been really patient. “I feel sorry for him, but we get on really well so I feel really blessed I have this opportunity. I would love to get past one round rather than be out straight away, so I’m going to do my very best to not let him down.”

Jordan North

Mentor: Rosemary Shrager

“I haven’t done any reality TV since I’m A Celebrity… but I’ve watched this before and it’s a great show. I’m in a bit of a rut with my cooking - I’m at that stage of my life where it’s less nightclubs and more people coming round for dinner, but I’m making the same dishes every time and I want to be able to step it up a level in the kitchen,” says Jordan. “My cooking’s average at best - very entry level. I want to learn how to cook and keep a clean kitchen at the same time. When I’m cooking it’s like a mad scientist, every pan is out and it's all everywhere!”

Jack Osbourne

Mentor: Elliott Grover

“What an opportunity to sit with a world class chef and learn how to cook!” says Jack. “I have four daughters and they all have particular requirements, so it's not one meal that feeds the whole house.

“I wanted to expand my cooking knowledge, as I always cook the same thing, and learn how to properly season and different ways to season.”

Jessica Wright

Mentor: Jack Stein

“I am absolutely buzzing to take part in this show because cooking is something that I’ve always taken a huge interest in but I lost touch with it when I had my baby, just because I didn’t have as much time,” says Jessica. “To be working alongside a chef, especially Jack, is just a real treat. He’s very laid-back and chilled - he’s not a shouty chef.”

Shaun Wright-Phillips

Mentor: Shelina Permalloo

“I like a challenge but also, I wanted to expand my cooking abilities in the kitchen,” says Shaun. “I don’t really measure things, so that’s where the problem comes in here, because on this show they want you to measure everything. I just shake things and think, ‘That’ll be enough!’”

Episode 1

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, Hugh Dennis, Kelly Hoppen and retired pro footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips can relax in the wings in this opening episode, as Jordan North faces Natalie Cassidy, and Jessica Wright takes on Jack Osbourne (who shares some lovely memories about his famous family). The loser of each round will find themselves in a cook off, which is judged by the chefs in the blind taste test. Who will know their onions when they’re asked to whip up gourmet dishes on a budget of £3 per serving?

Episode 2

In this episode it's the turn of reality TV star Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, actor and comedian Hugh Dennis, author and interiors expert Kelly Hoppen, and former footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips. But there's added pressure for the stars and their mentors. Not only are they cooking for the judges, but their loved ones are in the studio and will be giving their opinions on their performance - including Hugh’s friend, comedian David Baddiel.

If they fail to impress with their culinary creations, two of the stars will have to face the cook off. Who will crack under the pressure?

Episode 3

Natalie Cassidy, Jack Osbourne, Jordan North, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Hugh Dennis and Kelly Hoppen take on each other in the first ever six-way cooking battle and they’ll go head-to-head to deliver a British classic using only Air Fryer in just 30 minutes.

The losing stars from this battle will also have to impress the world class chefs and cook more speedy dishes in a bid to secure a place in the quarter final. The bottom two stars will fight for their place in the competition in the fastest ever cook-off.

Episode 4

Natalie Cassidy, Jack Osbourne, and Kelly Hoppen try to impress with family favourite dishes in a three-way cooking battle in this episode.

The second battle sees Jordan North goes up against Shaun Wright-Phillips in a bid to secure their place in the semi-final as they attempt to deliver classic family favourite creations. The stars who fail to impress our world class chefs will head into the dreaded cook off.

Episode 5

With the contestants well and truly slimmed down by this stage, the remaining four famous faces compete in the semi-final as they take on healthy dishes. The two stars who fail to impress the judges will end up in the cook-off, with the pair fighting it out for the last place in the grand final.

Episode 6

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and his no-holds-barred approach were on the case in Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service episode "Pretty Girls Cook," which aired on July 30.

Pretty Girls Cook is located in Philadelphia and it's known for a hearty take on homestyle American classics. It's also proudly owned and operated by Dominique Shields, who proudly promotes her Black-owned business on social media. So was Ramsay able to help Pretty Girls Cook? Is Pretty Girls Cook still open?

Pretty Girls Cook's story is featured on their Facebook page (they don't have a website): "From summertime side hustle to a popular and growing restaurant, Pretty Girls Cook has become a destination for those who love homestyle cooking with extra-special touches that are hallmarks of owner Dominique Shields' style."

Here's the description of the episode: "When Pretty Girls Cook first opened, it was an incredibly popular spot - everything on the menu sold out! So why has this restaurant with an experienced owner and chefs with advanced skillsets taken a turn? Gordon Ramsay is on the case! We're happy to report that Pretty Girls Cook is still open for business.

According to the Pretty Girls Cook Instagram page, the restaurant is open Thursdays through Sunday and closed Monday through Wednesday.

As of publication, the restaurant has a 4.2 rating on Google Reviews (with 732 reviews as of July 30).

"I went for brunch," one reviewer raved. "We were seated quickly, the waiter was nice. The food came quickly. It was delicious."

Another visitor raved that Pretty Girls Cook is "amazing" and it's "definitely the best crab cakes in Philly."

"Literally the best food I've had in Philly," another reviewer said. "And the women who work there are sweet and amazing!"

Things seem to be moving in a positive direction for Pretty Girls Cook after Gordon Ramsay's intervention.

After the BBC officially confirmed it will be airing the new series of MasterChef, it has now been revealed that the first three episodes will drop on BBC iPlayer on August 6.

The BBC is stripping episodes across the week, with the first episode of the amateur series airing on Wednesday, August 6 at 8 pm, with episode two on Thursday, August 7 at the same time, and then a third on Friday, August 8 at 8.30 pm. It seems likely it will follow the same pattern the following week. All three of those episodes will be made immediately available on iPlayer on August 6.

There had been plenty of speculation that the BBC wouldn't screen MasterChef 2025 at all, with both presenters, Gregg Wallace and John Torode, being sacked.

The BBC is yet to decide whether to broadcast a Christmas special and a celebrity series. Explaining why it had decided to show the new series, the BBC said: "After careful consideration and consultation with the contestants, we have decided to broadcast the amateur series of MasterChef on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 6 August. MasterChef is an amazing competition which is life-changing for the amateur chefs taking part. The focus of it has always been their skill and their journey.

“This has not been an easy decision in the circumstances and we appreciate not everyone will agree with it. In showing the series, which was filmed last year, it in no way diminishes our view of the seriousness of the upheld findings against both presenters. We have been very clear on the standards of behaviour that we expect of those who work at the BBC or on shows made for the BBC.

“However, we believe that broadcasting this series is the right thing to do for these cooks who have given so much to the process. We want them to be properly recognised and give the audience the choice to watch the series.

“At this stage we have not taken a decision on the celebrity series and Christmas special, which was filmed earlier this year, and we will confirm our plans later in the year.

“Most importantly MasterChef is a brilliant, much-loved programme which is bigger than any one individual. There are many talented, dedicated and hard-working people who make the show what it is. It will continue to flourish on the BBC and we look forward to it returning stronger than ever in the future."

Headlines about Wallace’s alleged misconduct emerged during the production of series 21.

According to BBC News, Wallace told PA News Agency that he is "deeply sorry for any distress" he caused, after 45 of the 83 allegations about his behaviour on MasterChef were upheld in a report by an independent law firm.

Gregg said in his statement that "none of the serious allegations against me were upheld. I challenged the remaining issue of unwanted touching but have had to accept a difference in perception, and I am deeply sorry for any distress caused. It was never intended."

BBC News reported that John Torode was also sacked as MasterChef presenter after an allegation against him using "an extremely offensive racist term" was upheld as part of the same inquiry.

John took to social media to explain that the remarks were allegedly made in 2018 or 2019 and that he had "absolutely no recollection of any of this and I do not believe that it happened".

After it was announced he had been sacked from the series, he added: "I have no recollection of what I am accused of. The inquiry could not even state the date or year when I am meant to have said something wrong. Celebrity MasterChef, which I recently filmed with Grace Dent, along with two fantastic Christmas specials, will be my last. Personally, I have loved every minute of working on MasterChef, but it is time to pass the cutlery on to someone else."

MasterChef 2025 starts on Wednesday, August 6, at 8 pm.

Tom Kerridge Cooks Spain is a new ITV1 series fronted by the much-loved chef.

With two Michelin-starred pubs in the Buckinghamshire town of Marlow, several podcasts and a successful career as a celebrity chef on his plate, Tom Kerridge is at the heart of a whirlwind of activity when we catch up with him on a July afternoon.

"It’s been a bit of a runaround day and I've been constantly ringing people up and saying, 'Sorry, I’m running late!'" he laughs. "My schedule is all over the place!" The popular star is calling us for an exclusive chat about his latest ingredient-inspired road trip, Tom Kerridge Cooks Spain, which begins on ITV1 this week. Why did you choose Spain as the next place to visit?

Tom: "Spain is somewhere I’ve not explored much, not even for family holidays. So the series is a simple celebration of beautiful Spanish produce, asking local farmers and food producers, ‘What is it that you do that’s magic?’ Then I use that special ingredient in a recipe and cook it from the truck, usually in their fields!"

Talking of the food truck, you experienced mechanical problems with the custom-built 1950s vehicle used in your tour around Britain. Have those issues been fixed for this adventure?

"No, we have a different truck that works — it even has brakes and an indicator! It’s a 1980s Mercedes food truck, so it’s still old school, but it has everything you need."

Where does the itinerary take you?

"We go all over the country. We travelled down from the north coast, where the sea is quite rough and intense, to the centre of Spain, to a garlic farm in the middle of nowhere. It was 40 degrees and the smell was amazing."

Did you uncover any hidden gems?

"Yes, I loved Jerez [a town in the Andalusia region]. I thoroughly enjoyed the sherry vinegars made there and it was super-exciting seeing the process of growing the grapes, making the wine, turning it into vinegar, and then the barrel-ageing process that gives the vinegar a depth of flavour.

"I also loved visiting the rice fields in the Ebro Delta [in the Catalonia region]. You often think of rice as coming from Southeast Asia, but it’s grown in Spain, too, as it’s used in paella."

Can you give us a flavour of the dishes that we’ll see you cooking?

"We visit a place where they fish for anchovies and we do some anchovy toasts with crispy tempura anchovies — they’re really lovely!

"We make a simple pork chop and white-bean stew, which is super-delicious. And there’s also a rice dish. I’m not going to say it’s paella, just in case! But I cooked a version of something that might be like our take on paella for the farmer who grew the rice — and he liked it!"

Having toured Spain, what would you suggest as a starter, main and dessert for anyone wanting to make a Spanish meal?

"Definitely those anchovy toasts as a starter, because they’re quite easy and can be served with a delicious sweet-pepper salad.

"For the main course, it would have to be a paella. We ate paella loads while filming this series. Often there would be 25 of us and the paella would be served in a big dish in the middle of the table and we’d just help ourselves. So from a home cook’s point of view, it’s a great dish to put together. You don’t even need a paella pan, you could do it in a big frying pan and then just serve it from the table.

"Then, for dessert, a citrus cake using some of Spain’s incredible citrus fruits, or flat doughnut peaches roasted with meringues."

Are there any hero ingredients that can help give a Spanish flavour to dishes?

"Smoked paprika and chorizo; that cured meat flavour is amazing. And any vegetables that have been sun-ripened because there’s a deep warmth that comes from them, which is definitely the Spanish way!"

Tom Kerridge Cooks… is a great format for a culinary showcase. Would you be keen to explore another destination?

"Yes, I’d love to take this show to other countries, such as Italy, Portugal or Germany."

Finally, what’s next for you? And are you able to take time out from your schedule for a summer break?

"We start filming the 21st series of [BBC cooking competition] Great British Menu soon, which is exciting! And in terms of holidays, we haven’t got anything booked. My world is pretty stacked, so we’ll see if there’s a gap that emerges and then jump on a plane somewhere!"

MasterChef 2025 will officially air in August on the BBC, the broadcaster has confirmed, featuring brand-new challenges and an array of special guests as the show celebrates its 21st year.

MasterChef 2024 aired last spring, bringing us a bumper season celebrating 20 years of the much-loved series. However, there was uncertainty surrounding the new series after both Gregg Wallace and John Torode were sacked from the show following separate allegations. But the BBC has given a full statement (which we have lower down in the article) confirming why they've chosen to air the series.

As the series was filmed in early 2024, both John Torode and Gregg Wallace will appear in the new series. However, it is unclear how much of either presenter we will see on screen.

.One name that has been linked to the show is Grace Dent, after she presented Celebrity MasterChef alongside John in 2024 and 2025.

How will MasterChef 2025 work?

Each series, we see more than fifty hopefuls from across the UK joining the programme to show off their culinary skills before being whittled down over the next eight weeks, with the winner crowned in a tense finale.

Last year saw two new challenges added to the knock-out rounds over the course of the initial heats. To 'earn' a MasterChef apron and stay in the competition, the first challenge facing the contestants is called 'Basic To Brilliant'.

John Torode told us, "Basic To Brilliant is all about taking an everyday item such as a potato or an onion and turning it into something truly special. As you’ll see, you can do amazing things with an onion!"

The second new challenge was part of the Invention Test and required the cooks to think on their feet. John said, "The contestants are all given the same basic recipe, for example, it’s gnocchi in episode one, and we see how they each create different dishes from that. I love that round because you really see their personalities start to come out."

Who won MasterChef 2024?

Brin Pirathapan, a veterinary surgeon whose love of cooking is inspired by his Sri Lankan heritage, was crowned the 20th winner of MasterChef.

At the time of winning, he said: "The food I grew up with was never boring. Coming from a Tamil, Sri Lankan background, we had nice food on the table and it's never bland.

"There was just something about this year where I thought if I didn't apply I would probably just sit and watch it and regret that I didn't."

Bake Off spin-off show, An Extra Slice, is also back in the UK for another series. The show will start on Friday, September 5, at 8 pm on Channel 4. A one-time amateur powerlifter, Iain, who originally comes from Coleraine, lives with girlfriend Dervla and cat Viktor. The music-lover dubs himself ‘Yeastie Boy’ due to his enthusiasm for sourdough and he has fun recreating album cover art in the crusts of his loaves. He is also a fan of pickling and utilises fermented fruit and vegetables to give a new spin to classic flavours in his bakes.

Edinburgh-born Jasmine grew up making bread and cakes with her mum and aunts, and batch-baked for family holidays in the Highlands. Now, as respite from her medical studies and hospital placements, she whips up treats using fresh, seasonal ingredients and traditional flavours. She lives with her cousins and is a keen sea-swimmer, half-marathon runner and hockey player.

Economics graduate Nataliia moved from Ukraine four years ago and her family followed on as refugees from the war with Russia. Ardent knitter Pui Man, who was born in Hong Kong, lives with her husband and two children, and volunteers to distribute surplus food from supermarkets to her community. She rediscovered the joy of baking in lockdown and has an eye for detail when designing wedding dresses, and brings the same perfectionism to her bakes – and she would love a hug from Paul Hollywood!

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE, 29, FROM WARWICKSHIRE

Raised in Sidmouth, Devon, Toby lives with girlfriend Syd and rescue dog Bex, and he has spent the last three years renovating his home. He works for a fitness start-up and has a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, so he tries to bring a simple, healthy take to his bakes, which are based on classic recipes and flavours. Bread is his forte and each day he makes something different.

CREATIVE ENTREPRENEUR, 31, FROM LONDON

Tom, who has been with his boyfriend for three years, used to work at his own advertising agency, but food is his passion, which he shares with his family, as he learnt to bake with his mum and Danish granny, and he now fishes with his brother and forages for mushrooms and cooks roasts with his dad. He adds creative twists to his bakes and he prides himself on his presentation.

Who has left The Great British Bake Off 2025?

Week one
Hassan became the first baker to leave the show after a slightly disastrous Cake Week. After learning his time was up on the show, Hassan said: "I think I am a bit upset, but I did expect it. Everyone is such a phenomenal baker, they are all such lovely people. And even though it’s been a short-lived experience, I have enjoyed it. Hopefully I can reflect on some things and then maybe get back to baking when I get a chance."

Week two
Biscuit week wasn't meant to be for Leighton, who became the second baker to leave the tent. The 59-year-old software delivery manager from Surrey said: "Someone had to go, right? I had the most fun on Bake Off. I loved it. I had the opportunity and I came up against amazing bakers."

Week three
Bread week ended badly for Pui Man, who became the third baker to leave the series. Despite once again pulling off a great showstopper comeback after a disastrous technical and signature, sadly it wasn't enough to keep her in the show. Speaking of leaving Pui Man said: "I am a little bit disappointed as I was doing well most of the time, but I am part of the Bake Off family now, so it’s not a bad thing."

The Great British Bake Off 2025 themes

Week 1 (Tue, Sept 2 in the UK and Fri, Sept 5 in the US) - Cake Week
The new bakers are tasked with first making a Swiss Roll with an inlay design, before having to create a batch of Fondant Fancies for the technical challenge with no recipe at all. Finally, the bakers are faced with creating a landscape cake for their showstopper.

Week 2 - (Tue, Sept 9 in the UK and Fri, Sept 12 in the US) - Biscuit Week
It's crunch time for the bakers as biscuit week arrives, seeing them take on a 'slice and bake' signature, produce a classic chocolate Hobnob in the technical and make their favourite mementos out of biscuit in the showstopper.

Week 3 - (Tue, Sept 16 in the UK and Fri, Sept 19 in the US) - Bread Week
The bakers are hoping for a Hollywood handshake this week as they tackle bread, the steely-eyed judge's speciality. They begin by putting their stamp on a pull-apart monkey bread in the signature challenge, before being asked to make a sticky, messy, fast food technical. For the showstopper, they serve up sweet bread in tiers.

Week 4 - (Tue, Sept 23 in the UK and Fri, Sept 26 in the US) - Back to School week
The bakers return to school, starting off with the classic canteen favourite, flapjacks, before being tested with a fondly remembered school cake technical, with a catch. For their final exam, they have to produce a spectacular school fete showstopper, full of nostalgic treats.

Week 5 - (Tue, Sept 30 in the UK and Fri, Oct 3 in the US) - Chocolate Week
In Chocolate Week, Noel and Alison host as the bakers make fiddly mousse cups for the Signature, a white chocolate tart in the Technical and a fondue display for their Showstopper challenge.

The Great British Bake Off 2025 judges

The Great British Bake Off wouldn't be the same without original judge Paul Hollywood and his famous handshake, and he is back once again for the sixteenth season of the show.

Joining Paul once again is Prue Leith, who has also become a much-loved part of the show since it arrived on Channel 4.

There were fears about Prue's future on the show after she was replaced by Caroline Waldegrave OBE for The Great Celebrity Bake Off 2025, however, it has been confirmed that Prue will be returning for the main show in the autumn.

Welcome back! The series starts with Cake Week, which sees the 12 new bakers make swiss rolls, fondant fancies and a landscape cake for judges Dame Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood. How did they get on?

Noel: "This is a banger of a year! The swiss roll was tricky, but the standard was high. They were all pretty strong. And we identified some good bakers straight away!"
Alison: "Yes, there was a moment when we were like, ‘Wow, these are great amateur bakers!’

And you’ve got some new themes later in the series – Back to School Week and Meringue Week – haven’t you?

Noel: "Yes, Meringue week was interesting. And with Back to School there was a nostalgia element. I’d like to have seen Paul in shorts though! I bet he was a naughty schoolkid!
Alison: "It was lovely having flapjacks for Back to School Week and cake where they had to make their own sprinkles!"

What can you tell us about this year’s bakers, who range from a bridal designer to a medical student?

Noel: "They all really liked each other and got on as a gang and were supportive. Some of them have grown up with Bake Off because they have watched it since they were kids – that makes you feel old! But it’s a big journey for all of them. And they learn so much."
Alison: "And they know it could be life-changing – they go in one person, they come out another. But they all love each other and don’t want anyone to lose. And they get a Hammond Hug if they’re feeling down! As soon as they come in the tent they go, ‘Can I have a hug?!'"

As the standard is high, was it hard for you both not to try all the yummy bakes?!

Alison: "I’m getting more disciplined! I only go for the ones that get Hollywood Handshakes. Or anything that wins the Technical. So I only put on two kilos this year and I’ve already lost one!"
Noel: "But if you taste some people's bakes and then not others’ they get upset. So I have to go, ‘I don’t eat anything!’ Because otherwise you get caught out.

And what do you both still enjoy about the show?

Alison: "People fall in love with the bakers and it's all about them. We could be replaced at any moment, but the bakers are what's driving the show. They are the stars."
Noel: "There's a magic to the show. You can't be cynical with Bake Off. You get caught up in it. It's a positive, kind show. And that’s important, because the world's scary, but Bake Off is a nice place."

Is there a trailer for The Great British Bake Off 2025?

Yes! And as always, the trailer was well worth the wait. Not only does it show Alison and Noel back in their presenting roles, but it also confirms that Paul and Prue will be back as judges. Paul can be seen in his human form, while Prue appears as the sunshine and Noel and Alison can be seen in animated form.

Who won The Great British Bake Off 2024?

Georgie was crowned winner of The Great British Bake Off 2024 after narrowly beating Christiaan de Vries and Dylan Bachelet in the final. The trio made a batch of sweet and a batch of savoury scones for the signature, while the final's technical challenge involved them making an afternoon tea.

For the showstopper, the three finalists whipped up a hanging tiered celebration cake that would be suitable as a centrepiece for a summer garden party. While Dylan and Christiaan both created amazing cakes, Georgie pipped them to the post with her classic British flavours and amazing 'English Garden' design.

Speaking of winner Georgie said: "Oh my gosh being the first Welsh baker in the final was a massive achievement in itself, so to have won it is just the best feeling in the world. There were times in the series I thought I might be going home. The fact that I did it for Wales was amazing, and I had massive support throughout from Wales. I hope I have done them proud."

The Great British Bake Off is filmed in a beautiful part of the Berkshire countryside called Welford Park, where the white marquee is positioned amongst trees, a beautiful manicured lawn and local wildlife.

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and his no-holds-barred approach were on the case in Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service episode "Callahan's Part 1," which aired on July 9. We're curious to see what's going on at Callahan's Seafood Bar & Grill given that this is a special two-part episode, with the second installment set to air on July 16.

Callahan's Seafood Bar & Grill is a family owned restaurant that started to experience some trouble when the owner and family patriarch passed away, leaving his three daughters in charge. An insider called for help to keep the struggling restaurant afloat. So was Ramsay able to help Callahan's Seafood Bar & Grill? Is Callahan's Seafood Bar & Grill still open?

Callahan's Seafood Bar & Grill is a family owned seafood restaurant in Frederick, Md. Their story is featured on their website: "At Callahan's Restaurant, we take pride in our rich history and commitment to providing exceptional dining experiences. Founded in the heart of Frederick, our restaurant was built on the principles of quality, freshness and hospitality that keep our guests coming back for more. We are farm & sea to table."

Here's the description of the episode: "Using his covert alias and high-tech surveillance equipment, Gordon gains intel on the community staple, Callahan’s Seafood Bar and Grill, which has rapidly declined since the owner died and left the restaurant to his three daughters. Callahan’s used to be the center of their familial bond, but the eldest daughter’s substandard leadership skills and the kitchen staff’s lack of respect for management and overall indifference has left the restaurant and the sister’s relationship in turmoil. Phase one of Gordon’s assignment: compel the sister co-owners and staff to take accountability."

We're happy to report that Callahan's Seafood Bar & Grill is still open for business.

According to the Callahan's Seafood Bar & Grill website, the restaurant opens at 11 am Tuesday to Sunday and is open late on the weekends. It is closed Mondays. There are weekly food and drink specials, and guests can enjoy karaoke on Fridays and Saturdays.

The menu features an assortment of traditional seafood fare like Maryland crab cakes, bang bang shrimp and beer battered fish & chips along with handheld options like the "local smash" burger and a veggie flatbread.

As of publication, the restaurant has a 4.3 rating on Google Reviews (with 764 reviews as of July 9).

There are lots of recent reviews, particularly from around Mother's Day, praising the restaurant. One happy diner noted the scallops and fingerling potatoes dish and the filet and crab. "Best dining experience any of us have had for a while. We'll definitely go back!" that reviewer wrote. Another Mother's Day diner added, "The food was nothing short of amazing."

Notably, however, there are quite a few reviews dating back two to three months, which was after Ramsay's "refresh," lamenting changes to a very popular menu item: the cream of crab soup. These reviewers, who point out that they frequented the restaurant in the past, have lots of issues with the new soup recipe, and its temperature.

One reviewer noted that the soup was served "lukewarm at best" and it made them "queasy" after eating it. Another Callahan's regular was very upset: "not only was the new cream of crab soup recipe boring, but it was short on crab meat (and came out cold)." Cold soup seems to be a theme, as another reviewer came back for the soup and left coldhearted: "I wanted to come since they brought back the cream of crab soup. Sadly, when I was served the soup, it came out cold."

It's worth noting that there aren't any recent soup complaints, suggesting that the soup issue could be fixed at this point.

Based on the show, things seem to be moving in a positive direction for Callahan's Seafood Bar & Grill after Gordon Ramsay's intervention, and we're eager to see how the two-part episode wraps up next week.

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has been known to be a bear in the kitchen, but underneath his gruff exterior, he truly cares about people. His latest show, Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service, gives him a chance to help struggling restaurants without letting them know that he's been watching them all along. So is Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service new tonight, July 2? Here's what you need to know.

Fox will not be airing a new episode of Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service on July 2. Instead, repeat episodes of both Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service and MasterChef season 15 will air and new episodes will resume next week after the July 4 holiday.

The July 2 episode will be a repeat episode of the series premiere featuring Parthenon, a beloved family-run Greek restaurant in Washington, D.C. After watching their father's legacy start to decline, a secret insider called upon Ramsay to come in and help turn things around before it's too late.

Here's a description of the episode: "In his first mission, Gordon spies on Parthenon, a beloved family-run Greek restaurant in Washington, D.C. Once a pillar of the community, this restaurant’s decor, utilities, and hygienics are severely out of date. Gordon’s assignment: embolden the owner to modernize and pass the torch of his nearly four-decade legacy to his son."

Unlike Kitchen Nightmares, where restaurants ask Ramsay for help, Secret Service features an insider who calls upon Ramsay for help, but no one else knows about it. Instead, Ramsay has a chance to sneak into the restaurant while it's closed to see what's really going on behind the scenes, and then he gets to observe the staff under the guise of a restaurant refresh show.

Understandably, it's always a shock when Gordon Ramsay comes walking through the door, but it makes for some great entertainment.

Thankfully, Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service will return on July 9 with a brand-new episode.

The new series, which follows the hugely successful John & Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen season 9 will feature fresh dishes perfect for the warmer months, and then the couple will return for John & Lisa’s Christmas Kitchen later in 2025.

John and Lisa make four mouth-watering dishes with only five main ingredients, starting with a garlic and rosemary focaccia, followed by John's pink spaghetti. Following that are chicken and peanut butter scissor-cut noodles and moreish and fuss-free banana doughnuts.

Episode 2 - Saturday, July 12
John and Lisa celebrate the low-cost staple that is rice, starting with crispy rice with two deliciously moreish toppings that are great for entertaining too. They follow this up with Thai mango sticky rice, a Thai beef salad with a roasted rice dressing, and crispy Persian rice with spiced chicken.

Episode 1 - Sunday, July 6
John and Lisa kick things off with a back-to-basics masterclass for four favourite dishes. They start with tagliata steak with a butterbean mash, before moving on to crispy fried Thai-style bream with a butter lettuce salad. Then it's an aubergine parmigiana schnitzel that is hearty and comforting, and Lisa's summer strawberry sponge with fresh strawberries and piped cream that is the perfect summer showstopper.

Can you give us a little tease of some of the exciting themes, ingredients or culinary fun viewers can expect to see this season?

JOHN: "As with the last nine series, we have crowd pleasers from burgers and tacos to the odd masterclass to make the everyday meal that little bit easier. Such as how to cook a piece of fish, and a couple of things that maybe people wouldn't have thought to make for family or friends, like scissor-cut noodles and crispy rice with loads of different Asian flavoured toppings."

LISA: "As always, we have a bit of everything! But I’m excited to show some easy twists on everyday ingredients. Like four completely different ways of cooking with rice, the recipes are super tasty, but people of all cooking abilities can make them."

In one of the episodes, you cook dishes with only five main ingredients. What are your top three tips for saving on shopping lists and food waste without compromising on flavour or quality?

JOHN: "‘Take 5’ (episode three) is a great way to cook and you can do that cheaply, reasonably or expensively; take lobster, mayonnaise, chips and caviar for example. The budget is important and making sure we aren’t throwing too much away; it is very much about planning and thinking ahead. I myself am a sucker for leftovers and reimagining them, turning them into a soup or making a stock from the chicken carcass, are examples of the sort of things that we do at home. Fried rice with a little kimchi is a great one, but my favourite is always the old bubble and squeak with any leftovers that have some potatoes involved with a fried egg. A fried egg is a fine thing."

LISA: "1. Planning, set out your meals for the week rather than deciding each day. 2. Pre-order or do one big shop for the week, there is so much less food waste when you are intentional. 3. Use the same ingredients for two or three dishes, this should be part of your planning!"

What was your favourite dish to make this season and why?

JOHN: "The crispy fish with Thai flavours in episode five is simply delicious. This is not an everyday dish, but all the ingredients are now available in supermarkets. It is so surprising in terms of flavours and textures, something I have been cooking for many years both at home and in restaurants."

LISA: "It has to be the Crispy Rice, once you try it you won’t stop making it!"

John and Lisa will return to the kitchen for John & Lisa’s Christmas Kitchen, sharing their culinary secrets and new recipes perfect for entertaining and enjoying festive favourites, across five Christmas-themed episodes to air later in 2025.

It’s time for one final course with Stanley Tucci, as Tucci in Italy episode 5, “Lazio,” serves as the finale for the inaugural season of his new travel/food show on National Geographic. And just as the other episodes this season, Tucci in Italy Lazio featured plenty of incredible dishes that I could almost taste through the screen.

After picking some of my favorite dishes featured in the episodes on Tuscany, Lombardy, Trentino-Alto Adige and Abruzzo, I’ve picked three more (and an honorable mention or two) from Lazio, the region that includes Rome and its surrounding and varied countryside.

While I would have loved being able to sample these dishes myself in Italy, from sight alone (and Tucci’s reactions), these are the dishes from Tucci in Italy Lazio that I’d love to try.

Stanley’s favorite sandwich

Right off the bat Tucci teases us with “one of the most delicious sandwiches I’ve ever had in my life” that he found when he was shooting a movie in Rome (possibly Fountain of Youth). The sandwich comes from Circoletto, where brothers Niccolò and Manuel Trecastelli have crafted something that Tucci says redefined his concept of a sandwich.

So what’s inside? Smoked tongue (from what animal is not shared), Roman lettuce, gherkins (tiny pickles if you weren’t sure) and a homemade mustard mayonnaise. Everything in the sandwich was sourced from their local market, meaning, as the brothers put it, “everything Lazio has to offer is inside” the sandwich. Tucci simply called it “perfect.”

There’s one another sandwich I want to quickly mention though — the porchetta sandwich he has in Ariccia. Simple, but with an incredible looking cut of pork and, as the Italians claim, some of the best bread in the world, it looked amazing.

Roman pizza

It’s a neck-and-neck race for which food is more associated with Italian culture — pasta or pizza — but as we’re told in this episode, the first people to cook pizza were likely the Egyptians. Their influence is present in the Roman pizza featured in this episode, which is thinner and crispier than its cousin, the Neopolitan pizza.

Chef Sami, who comes from an Egyptian family, makes Tucci a margherita pizza with red sauce, buffalo mozzarella, which is then topped with olive oil and basil leaves, which looked absolutely delicious.

If you’re more of a fan of a pizza with plenty of toppings and you think margherita pizza is a bit boring, consider this point from Chef Sami: a simple pizza like margherita lets you really recognize the key ingredients of the pizza, while additional toppings can hide that base of flavor.

Sbroscia

While Tucci visited many high-class restaurants this season, I was constantly more interested and desiring the dishes that have survived centuries from Italy’s working class. That is evident again with two different versions of sbroscia, a kind of fish stew, that we see in this episode.

The reimagined dish that blends the stew with a gorgeous looking pasta with pesto sauce from Michelen-star rated restaurant, La Parolina, looks great, but I’ll take the stew made with fresh eels, pike and tench that came fifty yards away from the lake and cooked with actual lake water (the local fisherman drink it straight all the time) every day.

The fisherman Tucci meets with says that fishermen who ate sbroscia every day for lunch would live a long time. Whether it’s that or the gorgeous surroundings that helped prolong their life, I’d give either a try.

Amazingly, after watching four episodes of Tucci in Italy I have not booked a ticket to Italia to try some of the delicious food that has been showcased. I’m resigned to longing for it from the TV screen, though Tucci in Italy episode 4, “Abruzzo,” is not making it easy.

An isolated region because of its difficult topography — Tucci himself said that this was a region in Italy that he had not been to — but there was plenty of comfort food that caught my eye in this episode.

So, after sharing the dishes that I was dying to sample in Tucci in Italy’s episodes for Tuscany, Lombardy and Trento-Alto Adige, I’m not going to waste any more of your time and get to the main dish, or dishes, with the four meals from Tucci in Italy “Abruzzo” that I would love to eat right now.

Timballo

Lasagna is one of my favorite dishes of all time, so of course I was immediately fascinated with timballo, which seems quite similar to the Italian food staple.

Among the key differences, though, instead of layers of pasta, the timballo features layers of crespelle. Similar to crepes, crespelle are lighter as they use olive oil and water. With ragu, mini meatballs, onion, celery and carrots, parmesan cheese, egg wash with milk, the dish features 10-12 layers, based on how big the dish you’re cooking with is or when you run out of ingredients.

The finished product looks absolutely incredible.

Arrosticini

In the valleys of Abruzzo, along the side of the road, is a barbecue restaurant called Ristoro Muccinate. It actually began as a salon set for a 1970 western titled They Call Me Trinity, but now serves a very popular dish, arrosticini, which are skewers of cubed mutton.

Mutton, which comes from sheep, was a very popular dish in this episode, as Tucci also enjoyed a mutton stew, but arrosticini is the one that caught my eye. Tucci and his hosts grilled the meat in the open air on these long grills, with just salt really the main seasoning. But the results speak for themselves, as not only did Tucci enjoy them, but the dish is so popular that people come from all over the region to try it, having anywhere from 10-15 to 30-40 arrosticini at a time.

Confetti

I definitely have a sweet tooth, so when Tucci got to see how a candy called confetti — sugar coated almonds — was made, it immediately became something I wanted to try.

Confetti Pelino, which has been operating since the 18th century, still uses many of the older techniques to make their candy, including adding the layers of sugar to the almonds over a matter of days as they rotate in copper drums. That kind of dedication is then also put into arranging the candies in beautiful candied flower bouquets.

And if you’re curious, according to the candy store owner, the paper confetti that we know was named for these candies. Italians would throw the colored almonds during weddings, and then that idea was taken to make paper confetti.

Bread soup

Abruzzo also has a coastline, where Tucci enjoyed a number of delicious-looking dishes from a restaurant that is housed on an old fishing hut, called a trabucco. Among them was a lamb torcinello, which did look really good (see picture above), but another appetizer was what spoke to me.

That was bread soup, which features bread marinated in tomato, baked, then topped with prawn, slipper lobster and squid, orange tomato and zucchini sauces, and dried olive and powdered fig leaf. Though humble in its origins (the chef said it was inspired by a snack he had as a child), the dish looked gorgeous, and Tucci simply told him “bravo” after tasting it.

Summer is here and it's time to hit the grill. Food Network's finest will be battling for the title of Master of 'Cue in BBQ Brawl: Flay V. Chauhan V. Lofaso. The series joins other shows on Food Network including Spring Baking Championship season 11 and House of Knives.

"This season has something for everyone, whether you are a professional grill master, a weekend warrior or simply love the smokey char of barbecue done right,” Bobby Flay said in a press release. “Summertime heralds outdoor cooking, and BBQ Brawl celebrates all that entails with a healthy dose of competition to keep it exciting."

Joining Flay this season are Maneet Chauhan and Antonia Lofaso. Lofaso is coming in fresh off her win in Guy Fieri's Tournament of Champions.

This season's judges are Carson Kressley, Rodney Scott and Brooke Williamson.

And the Brawlers lined up include Tyler Anderson, Kyle Bryner, Jason Dady, Alexandra Donnadio, Greg Gatlin, Brad Leighninger, Thyron Mathews, Rosalie Bradford Pareja, Orchid Paulmeier, Tim Van Doren, Arturo Ramon and Aarthi Sampath.

Two of my comfort watches teamed up on Tuesday, May 27, as Jeopardy! Masters 2025 featured none other than the iconic Great British Bake Off and Great American Baking Show host Dame Prue Leith as a presenter for a category of clues about, what else, baking. The unexpected crossover between the two shows definitely gave me a spark of joy.

Leith’s category, officially titled “Baking with Dame Prue,” came in the Jeopardy round of the first of two games on the May 27 episode of Jeopardy! Masters, which featured Isaac Hirsch, Yogesh Raut and Victoria Groce, who looked as excited as all Bake Off fans likely were to see Leith.

Perhaps that excitement led to some nerves, as Groce was incorrect in the first clue in the category, where Prue asked them to identify a French cousin to the apple pie, similar to a tarte, made with a buttery flaky crust and sliced apples; Groce guessed tarte tatin, but the answer was a galette.

Groce redeemed herself by giving two correct responses in the category, while Raut and Hirsch also showed some baking knowledge with correct responses to clues.

Leith is not the first big name to help out Jeopardy! Masters host Ken Jennings with delivering some clues. Earlier this season Jamie Lee Curtis presented some about her life and career, Thunderbolts* stars Florence Pugh and David Harbour read clues about other “thunderbolts” in culture and history, and Celebrity Jeopardy! season 3 champion W. Kamau Bell presented clues about other bells.

The addition of Prue Leith on Jeopardy! gives me a little hope that maybe one day we will see Jennings tie on an apron and head into the white tent to show his potential baking skills in a celebrity version of the Baking Show; most likely The Great American Baking Show Celebrity Holiday specials, if any.

Speaking of The Great American Baking Show, season 3 is now streaming on The Roku Channel. Leith, meanwhile, recently debuted Prue Leith’s Cotswold Kitchen season 2 for those in the UK on ITV. And for those eager for a new season of Bake Off, it is expected to premiere in the fall.

Arguably the best part of watching Stanley Tucci traverse Italy via his travel show, now officially with National Geographic’s Tucci in Italy, is getting to explore pockets of Italy that the average person may not know as much about. That was certainly the case with Tucci in Italy episode 3, where he explores the Trento-Aldo Adige region.

As Tucci explains, this region borders Austria and until post-World War I was actually a part of that country. But since then a blend of Italian and Austrian culture have made the region unique. That has included its food, because besides what we learn about each region from the show, the other best part of Tucci in Italy is looking at the various foods with big eyes and wishing you could sample it yourself.

So, just as I have done with the Tucci in Italy Tuscany and Lombardy episodes, I’ve picked out the dishes featured in the Tucci in Italy Trento-Alto Adige episode that caught my (and my stomach’s) attention.

Schlutzkrapfen

One of the first people that Tucci meets in the episode is a man named Franz, whose family has been living in the region for generations, prior to it becoming a part of Italy. Because of that he had an incredible story of how his grandfather, conscripted into the Italian army during World War Two, fled and lived in the woods for four years to avoid capture or being killed. To survive, he came up with a soup recipe using 25 different local herbs and flowers, a variation of which Franz continues to cook and certainly impressed Tucci.

However, the dish Franz showed off that caught my attention was schlutzkrapfen, a pasta dish made from durum wheat and dried pear flower, stuffed with homemade cheese and topped with tomato compote. The star of the dish for me though looks to be the stone pine pesto, which comes from a local tree and adds what Franz and Tucci called an almost “indescribable” aroma and helped make the dish “complex.”

Alpine Arctic char

Usually Tucci is the one being cooked for, but in this episode we get to see him use his own cooking skills for a group of fishermen that he spends time with. While they were hoping to snag a difficult to catch fish, the marble trout, it remained elusive, so Tucci went with plan B, cooking some of the region’s Alpine Arctic char.

The dish itself does look quite good, with Tucci cooking the whole fish, stuffing them with herbs for seasoning. But what really made this dish stick out to me was honestly the vibes. Tucci cooks it over an open fire by the lakeside, with beers at the ready, chilling in the river, for both cooking and drinking.

Injera platter

Another aspect that Tucci has highlighted this season and in past editions of his travel show is the growing immigration population in Italy and the impact that is having on the culture. In this episode, in Bolzano, we see an example of that with a group known as Cooking Without Borders, where those who have lived in Italy all their lives and those who have immigrated to the country share their food and their viewpoints.

On the menu for the gathering Tucci attended is an appetizing Ethiopian dish called an injera platter, which sees a injera bread coupled with a variety of sides like alicha (cabbage, carrots, onions and potatoes), zigni gravy (with beef, onion and Ethiopian spices) and more. It’s a communal dish that I think I would have a hard time keeping my hands out of to let others to have their fair share.

Speck

I made my affinity for meat known back when writing about the Tuscany episode, but a different cut of meat caught my eye this time — a full cellar’s worth of speck, pork cured and smoked in a mixture of juniper, bay leaves and other spices and then aged for months. This is a traditional staple of the Ladin people, a group of individuals that have been living in the Trento-Alto Adige region for thousands of years and have never fully given up their original language and identity.

While Tucci was given some dishes that looked quite good on their own, including a funnel cake like dessert served cranberry and strawberry jam, I couldn’t take my off the speck, which was served in slices as its along with pancetta and coppa (other cuts of pork) and little else. That would be enough for me.

Using spyware, undercover operations and his own investigations, Gordon Ramsay will work out what's going wrong for various restaurants and helps them to turn it around. The big spin on Kitchen Nightmares is that this operation goes on unbeknownst to the restaurant at the center of the effort.

I wouldn’t call myself a “foodie,” but since Stanley Tucci started his jaunt around Italy exploring the country’s incredible food culture, I have become a devoted follower. That continues now that the Emmy-nominated host is back with Tucci in Italy on National Geographic.

Having premiered on Sunday, May 18, on National Geographic (streaming on-demand on Hulu and Disney Plus as of Monday, May 19; Wednesday, May 21 in the UK), the first two episodes saw Tucci explore the regions of Tuscany and Lombardy. In this post, I’m going to focus on the delicious dishes that Tucci showed us in the Lombardy episode that I wish I could order up and have on my plate right now.

Again, I’m not a food critic, and I have not tasted any of these dishes, but the three dishes I chose to feature here are simply based on how badly I wanted to sample these dishes for myself. There’s no scientific method here, it's just how big my eyes got learning about these dishes and hearing Tucci describe them. Let’s begin.

Tagliatelle with butter and cheese

There were a lot of fancy dishes in this episode, including a pasta dish with caviar and shrimp that Tucci called one of the best he’s ever had. Yet it was the simplicity of the tagliatelle with butter and cheese at Trippa that Tucci had as his last dish of the episode that appealed to me.

As Tucci says, while it may appear basic, there is something so elegant and perfect about a pasta dish like this. It's something just about all of us can relate to. I could go make a version of this right now in my kitchen if I really wanted to, and even though I know it would not come out nearly as good as what the chefs at Trippa were able to deliver, it would still be so stinking good.

Vegan ragu

Another reason to be jealous of Italian food culture is that their rest stops are apparently high-quality restaurants as well. Known as Autogrills, these stops along the highway serve many classic pasta dishes ready quickly, but still quite delicious (beats the US’s fast-food options at rest stops). And, like others featured in this episode, they continue to innovate what they are offering.

In this case, the cooks behind Autogrill’s menu have created a vegan ragu. Now I am not vegan and have no intention of ever becoming vegan, but you cannot tell by looking at what they have crafted that it is vegan, it simply looks like a classic ragu dish, adorned with a great sauce and cheese (though it’s not cheese, it’s made from beans). Even the smell reminded Tucci of a traditional ragu. This is the kind of pit stop I want on a long road trip.

Pesto risotto

At Da Vittorio in Bergamo, Italy, they are at the forefront of innovation. The most obvious is that they have created a vertical farm where they grow all of their produce and vegetables in-house (not needing to rely on the variable weather). But as a three-star Michelin restaurant, they are also experimenting with their menu. That includes their interpretation of a fish taco and a salad that combines all of the plants they grow. But the showstopper is their risotto dish.

Making a pesto sauce from the herbs they grow on site, Da Vittorio puts their own spin on a classic risotto. In addition to the risotto, they add a bisque made from violet prawn heads and salmon eggs. At first glance, it may look a little questionable, but hearing the chefs describe everything they put into it and Tucci’s reaction (he called it “unbelievable”), I am convinced.

I’ve been waiting for three years to explore Italy once again with Stanley Tucci, so you can imagine my joy that Tucci in Italy on National Geographic brings that experience back. But while the beauty of the Italian countryside and Tucci’s devotion to sharing Italian history and current trailblazers, the big draw to this show is the unbelievable food that is featured that I am dying to sample.

Having premiered on Sunday, May 18, on National Geographic (streaming on-demand on Hulu and Disney Plus as of Monday, May 19; Wednesday, May 21 in the UK), the first two episodes saw the Emmy-winning TV host and Oscar-nominated actor explore the regions of Tuscany and Lombardy. In this post, I’m going to focus on the delicious dishes that Tucci showed us in the Tuscany episode.

I’m not a food critic and I have not tasted any of these dishes, but I know how much I wanted to eat just about everything that was featured in this episode. I’ve trimmed it down to a top four based on just how badly I wanted to sample these foods for myself. There’s no scientific method here, it's just based on how big my eyes got learning about these dishes and hearing Tucci give his “yums” of approval. Let’s begin.

Fake Tripe

Florence, the capital of Tuscany, became prominent thanks in large part because of the Medici family of nobelmen, but Tucci chose to focus a lot in this episode on how the less opulent, aka the peasants of the Renaissance, helped define the regions culture with their dishes and the impact they still have today. One restaurant touting this is Dalla Lola, where they revive forgotten “peasant recipes,” including the Fake Tripe. Substituting the usual tripe meat with dough, breadcrumbs, parmesan and eggs — and doused in gorgeous tomato sauce — Tucci described it as “amazing.”

This is actually one of the dishes that you could try on your own, as the ingredients aren’t overly hard to come by and there are many recipes available online. It probably won’t be exactly like what they serve as Dalla Lola (at least on your first try), but it’s probably the easiest dish to remedy from this episode in your own home.

Lampredotto

Who doesn’t love a food truck? Especially ones that are able to make a sandwich that looks as incredible as the lampredotto Tucci tries in the opening moments of the episode from a food truck (he refers to it as a kiosk) that has been serving lampredotto for 25 years.

Tucci describes lampredotto as a universally beloved food of Florence, but it also had humble beginnings as a “peasant dish.” Part of the reason for that is it comes from a generally underused meat, the fourth stomach of the cow. But the mix of meat, salsa verde and broth-dipped bread that comprises this sandwich looks incredibly appetizing.

Tucci appears to have preferred a new take on lampredotto he has later in the episode in meatball form, but give me a good sandwich any day of the week.

Maremanna steak

Clint Eastwood isn’t the only cowboy to grace Italy with his Spaghetti westerns. There are still real life cowboys in Italy, though they go by butteri. And as Tucci sees firsthand their primary job is the raising of maremanna cows, which are used for one of the most incredible pieces of steak I have ever seen.

Dry-aged and with low fat and cholesterol, a cut of this steak can cost up to $100. It looks like it, too, from what we see them grill up in the episode. They cook it pretty rare, which I’m sure wouldn’t be everyone’s choice, but my goodness it did look appetizing.

Larded rabbit

While we saw incredible dishes from professional chefs and others in the food industry, there are few things that can truly beat a really good home cooked meal. That was the case in this episode, when Tucci visited the home of Fabrizio and his mother, Roberta, in Colonnata. After learning about the region’s signature lardo di colonnata (thin strips of pig fatback), Tucci was treated to a home cooked meal of larded rabbit, which sees a cut of rabbit rolled up with layers of lardo, chard and prosciutto.

She then cooks the meat in a pan with rosemary and eventually some white wine is added. About an hour later it becomes a gorgeous piece of meat. Tucci was left to wonder why the rabbit he cooks doesn’t turn out as well? Maybe the environment played a part in it — eating a home-cooked meal on a patio in the Tuscan mountains — but I will be dreaming of this dish for a while.

Food fans around the world are going to be tuning into MasterChef Australia, with its 17th season debuting on Monday, April 28.

MasterChef Australia features the top Aussie chefs in an all-out cook-off, and season 17 brings back a twist which we also saw for season 12.

This is that all of the 24 contestants are alumni from past seasons of the show (and some have been on multiple times). It's called 'Back to Win' and it'll up the stakes for the cook-off.

The revamped Food Network series, which joins popular shows like Spring Baking Championship season 11 and Guy Fieri's Tournament of Champions season 6, is an opportunity to showcase talented chefs while handing them challenges designed to test their knowledge.

Stanley Tucci is an Oscar-nominated actor, but he’s carved out a nice side gig as one of the internet’s favorite foodies. Part of that came from his fantastic series Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy that previously ran for two seasons, which saw him explore Italy’s different regions and their unique food culture. At long last, the journey continues, as Tucci is once again taking viewers on a tour of Italy and sample its incredible food in the new National Geographic series, Tucci in Italy.

I absolutely loved Searching for Italy, it was the perfect comfort food (pun intended) during the early days of the pandemic. So when that show ended I was very disappointed, but was hopeful when rumors started to swirl that Tucci was looking to continue the show and then elated when it was announced that Tucci found his new home at Nat Geo. After a nearly year-and-a-half wait from that announcement, Tucci for Italy is here.

Tucci in Italy release date

Tucci in Italy episode 5, the finale one in the inaugural season, airs on Sunday, June 8, at 8 pm ET/PT on National Geographic. The episode will be available to stream on-demand on Hulu and Disney Plus on Monday, June 9.

For those in the UK, Tucci in Italy airs on National Geographic UK on Wednesday, June 11, with it also streaming on Disney Plus.

National Geographic is a cable channel in the US, available through traditional pay-TV providers and live TV streaming services (i.e., Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV and YouTube TV). To watch it on-demand on Disney Plus or Hulu, a subscription to those streaming services is required.

Stanley Tucci doesn’t need a whole lot of introduction, as he is an immensely popular actor, but he is the Oscar-nominated star of The Lovely Bones who is also best known for his roles in The Devil Wears Prada, The Hunger Games, Spotlight and, most recently, Conclave and The Electric State.

Tucci has arguably become just as famous for his passion for food. In addition to hosting Searching for Italy, for which he won two Emmys for Outstanding Host Nonfiction Series or Special, he has written two books about his relationship with food — What I Ate in One Year: (and related thoughts) and Taste: My Life Through Food — and two cookbooks — The Tucci Table and The Tucci Cookbook.

The premise of Tucci in Italy will be familiar to fans of Searching for Italy, but here is the official description from National Geographic:

“The five-part series follows Tucci on a visually stunning and deeply personal exploration of the country’s breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and the complex connections with its food that have shaped each region’s distinct culture and, of course, their iconic pasta.”

Nat Geo adds that Tucci will meet with locals, chefs, fellow foodies, fishermen, artisans and even cowboys to unearth hidden gems and untold stories, resulting in a curated journey across the full series.

In what has become a spring tradition, a group of amateur American bakers make their way over to the UK to compete under the iconic white tent in The Great American Baking Show on The Roku Channel. This year will be no different, as The Great American Baking Show season 3 gets ready to roll.

A spinoff of The Great British Baking Show (or The Great British Bake Off as it is known in the UK), The Roku Channel has hosted a few celebrity-themed versions of the show, including The Great American Baking Show Celebrity Holiday specials and even a Super Bowl foods special earlier in 2025. But this version, with amateur bakers from all across the US, is the main event.

The Great American Baking Show season 3 is now streaming exclusively on The Roku Channel. All six episodes of the season are available right now.

The great news is that you can watch The Great American Baking Show season 3 for free, as The Roku Channel requires no subscription to watch, though as a result it does feature ads. At this time there is no ad-free version of The Roku Channel.

Returning to serve as the hosts of The Great American Baking Show season 3 are Zach Cherry and Casey Wilson. This is Cherry’s third season as the host and Wilson’s second, as she previously took over from Ellie Kemper.

Many fans will know Cherry from his role on the hit series Severance, though he has also starred in Fallout, You and You Hurt My Feelings.

Wilson is a former Saturday Night Live cast member who has also starred in Happy Endings, Gone Girl, Black Monday, The Shrink Next Door and Physical.

The Great American Baking Show season 3 judges

As they do on The Great British Baking Show, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith once again serve as the judges on The Great American Baking Show.

Leith caused a bit of a worry for some fans as she did not participate in The Great Celebrity Bake Off 2025, but it was just a temporary absence, as Leith continues in her traditional role as a judge on The Great American Baking Show and is expected to on The Great British Baking Show as well.

In Kitchen Nightmares season 9, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay traveled to Louisiana and Texas to help struggling restaurants stay open and turn their businesses around. Now that the season is over, you might be wondering about what's next. So, is there going to be a Kitchen Nightmares season 10? Here's what we know.

Fox has not released any information about a potential tenth season for the popular restaurant rescue show, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. In fact, Fox announced Kitchen Nightmares season 9 in November 2024, just two months ahead of the show's January 2025 premiere.

Unlike Ramsay's other shows like Next Level Chef, which received a two season pickup shortly after the new season premiered, Fox tends to keep Kitchen Nightmares closer to the vest. We know that Ramsay, who has been working with Fox Television Network for 20 years, has several other shows with the network, including the iconic Hell's Kitchen and Gordon Ramsay's Food Stars. With that in mind, it feels like a fair bet that there will be more episodes of Kitchen Nightmares in the future, even if Fox doesn't announce it right away.

Kitchen Nightmares season 9 was special because Ramsay spent half the season in New Orleans offering help to struggling local restaurants in hopes of preparing them for a surge of visitors ahead of Super Bowl LIX. Once the big game was over, Ramsay traveled to Texas to help restaurant owners overcome their obstacles to stay in business.

In season 9, Ramsay had a 90% success rate; of the 10 restaurants he worked with over the course of the season, only one, Kindred, ended up closing its doors. All of the others remain open as of this writing.

Gordon Ramsay was in Louisiana for the first half of Kitchen Nightmares season 9 to help restaurant owners and staff prepare for the influx of visitors in town for the Super Bowl. Now that the big game is over, Ramsay has also added Texas to his list of destinations for this season. This week he's visiting the Simmer Down Cafe in Georgetown, Texas. So is Simmer Down Cafe still open?

Ramsay visited Simmer Down Cafe in the March 18 season finale episode of Kitchen Nightmares season 9. Here's the episode description: "Simmer Down Cafe is functioning like a circus, and as ringleader, the restaurant has taken over the owner Chris’ life. Chris is overworked and his constant need to micromanage has damaged not only his business but also his health and marriage. In an effort to make the restaurant run smoothly, Gordon will help Chris establish fundamental systems and boundaries in the all-new 'Simmer Down' season finale episode of Kitchen Nightmares."

We're very happy to report that the Simmer Down Cafe is still open for business after Gordon Ramsay's intervention.

Simmer Down Cafe has a Facebook page and they don't have an online menu as of this writing. There are, however, lots of visitors to the cafe who have tagged the restaurant's location in their Instagram posts.

Simmer Down Cafe has a 4.3 out of 5-star rating on Google Reviews as of March 18. There are lots of guests who had visited the restaurant before the renovation and have high praise for the new changes.

One guest who started visiting Simmer Down in 2019 was so surprised by the changes that they thought the restaurant was under new management: "We asked our server about the changes and were treated to the story of the Simmer Down revival! Congratulations, it was worth the effort, and we will be back."

Another guest who hadn't been there in a while had similar praise: "We were surprised to see such improvement. The restaurant looks more like a cafe instead of grandma’s house." They note that the food "is still among the best in Georgetown."

Not all ratings were positive, though. A one-star review noted that the chicken was undercooked while another patron left a two-star review due to the size of portions served at the restaurant: "The food in top notch here, but the amount is what counts to most people. If I'm telling the truth, the portions are smaller than a McDonalds Happy meal, especially the sides, smallest ever."

This season on Kitchen Nightmares season 9, Ramsay visited Leo's Italian Grill, The Grumpy George Pub & Grub, The Verdict Lounge & Restaurant, Kings Blu Jam Cafe, 3 Southern Girls, Kindred, Iberville Cuisine & Oyster Bar, Voleo's Seafood Restaurant and Blake's Place. All of these establishments needed some tough love from Ramsay and his team and six of them remain open now. Sadly, shortly after Ramsay visited Kindred, the owners decided to close their doors in December 2024.

Kitchen Nightmares season 9 airs Tuesday nights at 8 pm ET/PT on Fox, with episodes streaming the following day on Hulu.

House of Knives makes its debut on Food Network this spring, joining other foodie shows like Spring Baking Championship season 11 and Guy Fieri's Tournament of Champions season 6.

The Great Celebrity Bake Off 2025 is back, but there is one notable absence becasue Dame Prue Leith is missing from this series.

Instead of Prue being by Paul Hollywood's side in the famous white Bake Off tent, this series sees Caroline Waldegrave joining the show to offer her own baking expertise.

Prue and Caroline are longstanding friends, with Caroline being the former co-owner and managing director of Leiths School of Food & Wine.

But while Caroline is a welcome addition to the show, some fans are wondering why Pure is missing and whether she will be returning to the main series later in the year.

There is good news for viewers, becasue Prue revealed last year she only plans to miss the Bake Off spin-off shows and not the main series.

She told This Morning: "It's mainly because these things are filmed back to back. The whole way through the summer, so you start in April and you end at the end of August. Honestly, you get no time off. And, I'm getting a bit old and there's places I want to go, so I'm not doing this year's."

Phew!

Bake Off isn't the only show that Prue has been busy filming, she also recently appeared in The Masked Singer 2025 as Pegasus, as well as filming her own Saturday daytime cooking show called Prue Leith's Cotswold Kitchen season 2.

Prue's new series airs on ITV1 and sees her cooking up her favoruite dishes as she welcomes famous faces into her countryside home along with her husband, John.

The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer airs on Sunday evenings at 7.40pm on Channel 4.

Guy Fieri once again serves as the host and master of ceremonies for the big competition. Like Kitchen Nightmares season 9 star Gordon Ramsay, Fieri has built a culinary empire and Fieri calls the Food Network his home.

Gordon Ramsay was in Louisiana for the first half of Kitchen Nightmares season 9 to help restaurant owners and staff prepare for the influx of visitors in town for the Super Bowl. Now that the big game is over, Ramsay has also added Texas to his list of destinations for this season. This week, however, he's back in NOLA and he's visiting Blake's Place. So is Blake's Place still open?

Ramsay visited Blake's Place in the March 11 episode of Kitchen Nightmares season 9. • Jon'nae Smith: "Also known as Chef Jaye, the Miami-born pastry aficionado specializes in 'creating cakes, cupcakes and dessert tables for life-defining moments' in her home base of Atlanta. She gravitates toward incorporating the tropical flavors of her South Florida upbringing into her recipes and is ready to bring her A game to the championship. 'If I’m going to be successful in this competition, I am going to have to learn to think on my feet, so I’m moving,' she says."
• Priya Winsor: "The mom, pastry chef and chocolatier says, 'Chocolate is definitely my jam.' Her chocolate business in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, focuses on handcrafted sweets like bonbons, bars and confections."
• Kareem Youngblood: "'Even though I was not classically trained, my training comes from life — I went to the university of grandpa and YouTube,' jokes Kareem of Brooklyn, New York. 'My grandfather allowed me to be anything and everything I wanted to be. He prepared me for today.'"
• Lauren Klein: "'Being in this magical place and this kitchen, I’m feeling good,' says Lauren, a chocolatier and pastry chef from Freehold, New Jersey, who specializes in molded bonbons. 'Creativity is my superpower, and I think it's going to give me a leg up in all of the challenges,' she says. Lauren began her baking journey as a youngster, with her grandmother teaching her how to make scrambled eggs. 'From that moment on, I was taking culinary classes at my local rec center and cooking for my family,' she says."
• Julian Perrigo-Jimenez: "The pastry chef owns a bakery with two locations in the Sacramento, California, area. 'I’m here on Spring Baking Championship to prove to myself that I am one of the top pastry chefs,' Julian says."

From those early culinary beginnings, he earned scholarships and grants to attend pastry school and worked at top restaurants and bakeries to hone his skills. • Jamie Li: "This cake designer and mom of three is ready to show her chops in the Little Shop of Spring Magic. 'I really want to be able to prove to myself that I can do this,' Jamie, who lives in San Mateo, California, says. 'Being here is really pushing me out of my comfort zone.'"
• Raveena Oberoi: "This self-described spunky, bubbly baker based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, has been in the sweets business since she was a teen, launching her bakery at age 16 and opening the doors to the first of two storefronts at 22 years old. 'I love being in the kitchen. When I got married, I got the chance to make my own wedding cake, it was way taller than me,' Raveena says. 'It was super, super obnoxious, but I was so in love with it.'"
• Kari Cota: "'Being here to me means I have come a long way,' says Kari, an executive pastry chef based in San Diego who shares that she is more than seven years sober. 'The rough times I have gone through mean I can win this, because I’m a very strong-willed person. I have literally rebuilt my life,' she says."
• Lisa Clark: "At just 5 feet tall, Lisa, an executive pastry chef at a catering company in Boston, may be small in stature, but her culinary creations are mighty. Another baker who has been in the kitchen since childhood, Lisa hopes to share her love of cooking and hard work with her own child. 'I am competing for my daughter to show her that you can do anything you put your mind to,' she says."
• Paul Feybesse: "Trained in Paris and at Michelin-starred restaurants throughout Europe, Paul now runs a Bay Area bakery with his wife, who is also a chef. The couple has three children."
• Mary-Frances Bahun: "Though her mother might have had other dreams, baking has always been Mary-Frances’ passion. The culinary instructor, now based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, grew up around delicious food and knew she wanted to make it her career. 'I enrolled myself into baking school and my mom was so sad, because [according to her,] I was supposed to be a dentist,' she says with a laugh."
• Stacy Flores: "Although this executive pastry chef, based in Jersey City, New Jersey, has worked in multiple Michelin-starred restaurants, she's still starstruck by one particular judge. 'I’m super excited to meet Duff,' she says. Stacy’s love of food began early on. 'As a kid, I was really drawn to baking because I would just watch a bunch of Food Network shows,' she says. 'To finally be here and see it, it’s pretty magical.'"

The Great Celebrity Bake Off 2025 for Stand Up To Cancer is back - and now we finally have an official release date for the new series.

The new season of the show will start on Sunday, March 16 at 7.40pm on Channel 4 - and it is thought that episodes will then air weekly in the same slot.

The celebrity spin-off of the main show will see a new batch of famous bakers heading into the iconic white tent to put their best baking skills to the test - but this year Prue Leith won't be judging their creations, and instead, her longstanding friend, Caroline Waldegrave OBE will be joining Paul Hollywood for the series.

But - fear not, it is thought that Prue will be back for the main series later in the year. Phew!

As in previous years, the celebrities will be challenged to create their best bakes in the three rounds - the Signature, Technical and Showstopper challenges - and at the end of each episode, just one of the four will be crowned Star Baker.

This year we will see Sarah Beeny, Adam Buxton, Amelia Dimoldenberg, Scarlette and Stuart Douglas, Kate Garraway, Ellie Goldstein, Gloria Hunniford OBE , Jim Howick, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Roman Kemp, Jamali Maddix, Maxine Peake, Chris and Rosie Ramsey, Self Esteem AKA Rebecca Lucy Taylor, Meera Syal, Tommy Tiernan, Phil Wang and Sophie Willan all putting their baking to the test for a good cause.

This series will also see Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond return to host and encourage our famous bakers in the Bake Off tent - and as with the main Bake Off show, expect lots of capers, silliness and of course, pep talks from Alison as bakers get the wobbles.

Ramsay visited Leo's Italian Grill in the March 4 episode of Kitchen Nightmares season 9. Here's the episode description: "A family tragedy has left Leo’s Italian Grill on the decline. After the devastating passing of his son, Leo has lost the light in his eyes and customers are met with low quality ingredients and a lack of customer service under pressure. Leo's Italian Grill offers traditional Italian fare. Take one look at the menu and you'll see everything from bucatini marinara to hearty lasagna, homemade garlic bread, meatballs, hoagies, pizza and chicken parmesan. If you're a fan of homemade Italian food, your mouth will be watering after looking at the menu alone. You'll want to save room for Michelle's Italian cream cake Leo's bread pudding, which are two of many dessert options.

Leo's Italian Grill currently has a 4.5 out of 5 stars from 614 reviews on Google Reviews as of this writing. "Leo's knocks it out of the park," raves one enthusiastic five-star review, which also highlights how the "decor and ambience is second to none" and how they're still thinking about the bread pudding they had for dessert. Another review wonders how such a "must-try" restaurant can be in a small town because it's that good. While most of the recent reviews highlight the tasty menu, there are some less than favorable reviews, including one three-star review from a guest who was unhappy that bread, soup and salad aren't included in the price of the meal and that, as an Italian American, the restaurant "fails to meet [their] expectations." Leo's responded, noting that with high food prices it's "not feasible" as an independently owned business to offer free food. On the whole, many recent guests seem to agree that Leo's has turned a corner and is serving up some incredible Italian dishes deep in the heart of Texas.

Grumpy George is a British pub in the heart of Texas that features a very traditional pub menu with a good selection of appetizers, mains and side dishes in addition to the wide variety of drinks. From beer-battered fish and chips to shepherd's pie, bangers and mash to pub favorites like the Grumpy Smash Burger, there's something for everyone at this upscale hangout. There's even sticky toffee pudding and ice cream for dessert.

The Grumpy George Pub & Grub currently has a 4.3 out of 5 stars on Google Reviews as of this writing. One reviewer who left a 5-star review a day ago noted that they enjoyed the tempura shrimp and smash burger and "the food was simply amazing," adding that the pub is "cute." Another reviewer from two weeks ago said that it's a "nice little pub" and the "Service was great, as well the scotch egg and crispy shrimp were very good." A guest from a month ago talked about how the recent changes, presumably implemented after Ramsay's visit, made a big difference: "Since the recent changes made the ambience of the pub is much more comfortable. The chips are excellent, the cost of drink are wonderful, and the service is exceptional."

According to the website, The Verdict's menu is "a celebration of the diverse flavors of the South, with a special emphasis on New Orleans-style dishes that are bold, flavorful and deeply satisfying." They offer a signature egg roll along with mains that include shrimp and grits, shrimp po' boy, pan-seared red fish and New York strip steak.

The Verdict Lounge & Restaurant is very active on Instagram, offering glimpses of their weekly offerings including steak night, lamb chops & lemon drops and their weekend brunch.

The Verdict Lounge & Restaurant currently has a 4.5/5 rating on Google Reviews, with 67 reviews as of this writing. The reviews are across the board, with the most recent reviews (within the past two months and as recent as last week) being a mix of one-star and five star reviews. One of the five star reviews praises the service and the food while also mentioning the weekly specials (like the aforementioned lamb chops and lemon drops). A patron from two months ago was frustrated by the long wait for their food, only to have it arrive cold.

Here's the episode description: "Gordon Ramsay continues his journey through the south, this time stopping at Kings Blu Jam Cafe in Houston, Texas. Kings Blu Jam Cafe specializes in all things breakfast, brunch and lunch, but the overwhelming menu and miscommunication amongst staff members is causing issues. With the number of unsatisfied customers growing, the owner will seek out Gordon Ramsay’s advice."

We're very happy to report that Kings Blu Jam Cafe is still open. After Ramsay's visit, they have an updated decor and a trimmed-down menu, and it seems to be working well with their visitors.

Kings Blu Jam Cafe isn't very active on social media, but you can get a sense of their menu from a 2024 Instagram post featuring their famous wedge salad:

Taking a look at the menu, Kings Blu Jam Cafe is all about fresh, locally grown and sourced food that is prepared fresh for each guest. They're only open for breakfast, brunch and lunch and while the menu is limited, the flavor is the focus. Some of the breakfast offerings include a traditional Southern breakfast, huevos rancheros and corned beef hash with poached eggs while lunch includes the Blue Jam brunch burger and roast corn Caesar salad with blackened chicken.

Kings Blu Jam Cafe has a 4.1-star rating (out of five stars) on Google Reviews with 821 reviews as of this writing. One review from a month ago offers high praise for the waffles while another review from two months ago notes that the recent remodel and updated menu are great. "Always friendly, food is good, quick service. A terrific local spot," the review notes. However, a recent 1-star review from less than a week ago criticizes the "rude staff and managers" and the food quality, including fries that seemed to be store-bought. A 3-star review from a month ago also wonders if the fries were previously frozen, adding that the food was "good but not stellar."
