Fill in the blank, ABC’s Match Game is… back. The classic game show that originally dates back to the 1960s is getting another iteration with a brand-new host. But viewers should expect the same basic game that often makes for some hilarious moments.

Match Game joins a lineup of game shows on ABC this summer, including Celebrity Family Feud season 11, Press Your Luck season 6 and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire season 4; more game shows are also airing on Fox, including The 1% Club season 2 and The Quiz with Balls season 2.

Match Game is all new on Wednesday, August 6, at 9 pm ET/PT on ABC. It airs immediately after Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

To watch Match Game live, you need access to your local ABC station, whether that be through a traditional pay-TV provider, a TV antenna or a live TV streaming service, such as Fubo, Hulu with Live TV and YouTube TV.

The game show will also stream on-demand, with the latest episodes of Match Game making their way to Hulu the day after they air on TV.

Comedy legend, Emmy winner (recent Emmy nominee) and current star of Only Murders in the Building, Martin Short, is the new host for Match Game. He also serves as an executive producer on the game show.

Short famously got his start on SCTV, but has been a star of TV and movies, including Saturday Night Live (as host and cast member), Primetime Glick, The Three Amigos, Father of the Bride and Schmigadoon.

Short joins a list of previous hosts for the game show that includes Gene Rayburn, Bert Convy, Charlene Tilton, Rickie Lake and Alec Baldwin.

Match Game is pretty simple: two contestants compete head to head to try and match the answer to a fill-in-the-blank question among a group of celebrity panelists. Whoever gets the most correct matches moves on for the chance to win $25,000.

Each hour-long episode will consist of two games.

It has been announced today that BBC Saturday night sensation Gladiators has been renewed for a third series — and that there is also another celebrity spin-off on the way, too.

When the BBC rebooted the 90s show Gladiators in 2004, I was excited to see the series back on my screen, especially as this time around, I have a young family to settle down with on a Saturday evening and watch together. However, no one could predict just how huge the show's comeback would be.

After two hugely successful seasons, Bradley and Barney Walsh will oversee proceedings for series three as Apollo, Athena, Bionic, Comet, Cyclone, Diamond, Dynamite, Electro, Fire, Fury, Giant, Hammer, Legend, Nitro, Phantom, Sabre, Steel, and Viper return to the arena.

The Gladiators will showcase their power, agility and banter against courageous contenders from the general public, and as always, a loyal audience will pack out Sheffield Arena to see their favourite superheroes in action.

Despite the show's format remaining very close to the original series, each year, bosses add new courses and challenges and 2026 is no different, with the BBC promising the new series is set to be the biggest yet.

But that's not the only good news for Gladiators fans, because we are also being treated to another celebrity spin off, where once again we will see four brave celebrities taking on the toughest test on TV as they enter the arena in a bid to prove they have the power to succeed and emerge victorious.

Since its return, Gladiators has quickly become a Saturday night sensation, averaging 5.3 million and with nearly two-fifths streaming on demand, making it the most watched Saturday night series on BBC iPlayer.

Speaking of the new series, Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC says: “Audiences have loved getting together to watch our mighty Gladiators take on contenders from all across the UK with younger fans especially excited to cheer on their Saturday night superheroes.

"With this brand-new series and another celebrity special confirmed, there will be even more epic battles, more high-octane action and of course even more foam fingers than ever before for everyone to look forward to!”

While Jeopardy! will always be my number one game show (including its various primetime specials like Celebrity Jeopardy! or the recently concluded Jeopardy! Masters 2025), with the premiere of The 1% Club season 2 on Fox on June 10 I decided to give that show a try.

Though there was a good bit of buzz about The 1% Club when it premiered last summer, I never got around to trying it out. Add my boss’ recommendation for the UK version of the show, I figured it was worth a shot. Yet my expectations weren’t high. But as the game got deeper and the questions more complicated, I was surprised to find myself leaning forward in my chair trying to suss out the various answers.

For anyone who may need a quick summary, the basic premise of The 1% Club is that 100 contestants start the game and are challenged to answer logic-based questions. The difficulty of each question is graded by how many people in a wide survey done prior to the show answered each question correctly.

The first and assumed easiest question is one that 90% of people got right, then it goes down to 80%, 70% and continues down until you get to the 1% question. If you get the question wrong you’re eliminated. Anyone left standing when the 1% question arrives gets to try and answer it for a potential $100,000 grand prize.

I’ll be honest, the actual show part didn’t do much for me. I get having 100 contestants in parallel with the idea that the game often comes close to the percentage of people in the prior survey got these questions right, but it’s too large of a group. After every question, host Joel McHale talks with a player or two and gets to know them a bit, but it’s for about 30 seconds and then we may never hear from them again.

Or, in the case of at least one player that made it to the final question on the June 10 episode, McHale never talked to them (at least not that made it on the TV broadcast). I had no idea who they were and yet they had a one in six chance of winning the game. Even though other game shows may not actually give us that much more time to know contestants, with a smaller group it at least feels like we do.

Speaking of McHale, who took over hosting duties in season 2 of the game show from Patton Oswalt, he's fine. He got to have some fun banter with the contestants, but again it was often brief before he just moved on to the next question.

What did work were the questions. To be honest, it didn’t start off great, as the 90% and 80% questions felt very easy to me, but that is kind of the point of those questions; a high majority of people got them. Where my attention really started to peak was a question that featured three iconic movie quotes where you had to identify which one was incorrect.

As a movie buff, this felt right up my alley, but I was surprised that I was having some trouble figuring it out at home. I did guess correctly — they changed Judy Garland’s line “Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore” from The Wizard of Oz to “Toto, I have a feeling we’re in not Kansas anymore” — but it had me double-guessing myself.

From there the questions presented interesting thought experiments that occasionally I could get with little issue and others had me unsure, including the final 1% question, which I definitely did not get.

What makes The 1% Club worth watching is not the people competing for the grand prize, or even the antics of Joel McHale. It’s really just fun to be presented with these brain teasers and compete for yourself on the couch.

That means there was something extra on the line with the Final Jeopardy clues this week for the four remaining players: Victoria Groce, Isaach Hirsch, Yogesh Raut and Javeria Zaheer.

Jeopardy! Masters June 4 semifinal game 1 Final Jeopardy

The first game of the June 4 episode, and the third of the semifinals, featured Groce, Hirsch and Zaheer.

Groce, like she has for most of the tournament, got out to a big lead (more than 9,000 points) in the Jeopardy round. And it would only get bigger in Double Jeopardy, as Groce built up a massive lead of 32,400, 25,000 ahead of Zaheer in second place; Zaheer herself had a notable lead over Hirsch (7,400 to 1,200). So there was not likely to be much drama with this Final Jeopardy, which had the category of "Medieval Times." Here's the clue:

"A vassal-lord bond had two parts: in homage the vassal swore to serve, and in this other six-letter word the vassal also swore to be loyal."

And the answer is...

What is fealty?

Hirsch and Zaheer both came up with the correct response, while surprisingly Groce gave no response. But all players knew where they stood and that barring some crazy wagering their positions wouldn't change. So Groce earned three more match points (winning all three of her games in the semifinals), Zaheer earned one match point and Hirsch earned no point. So, heading into the last semifinal game, Hirsch needs to finish ahead of Zaheer to have any hope of advancing to the finals.

The final game of the semifinals subbed in Raut for Groce, with Hirsch and Zaheer staying on.

Like Groce, Raut got off to a good lead in the Jeopardy round, but it got a little more competitive in Double Jeopardy, as Zaheer made a strong push to keep her in striking distance of Raut (18,800 to 10,400); Hirsch, unfortunately, was too far behind that his final hopes looked dim. Before we reveal how it all played out, here's the clue for the Final Jeopardy category "Island Countries":

"The only UN member state named for a woman, it's named for a fourth century Sicilian martyr."

And the answer is...

What is St. Lucia?

All three players were correct with their responses, so nothing changed in the game, with Raut winning, Zaheer in second and Hirsch third. Hirsch knew that there was nothing he could really do, so his response all offered a congratulations to his fellow contestants, Raut and Zaheer, as they advance to the finals.

With Groce, Raut and Zaheer moving on to the finals, the game changed a bit. Instead of trying to amass match points, the winner would be whichever player amassed the most total point across the two final games.

After a less competitive finish to the semifinals, the first game of the finals got off to a better start, and while Groce got on a good roll in Double Jeopardy, ending the game with 21,200 points, Raut was within shouting distance at 13,000 to make Final Jeopardy interesting. It would just be those two palyers though, as Zaheer got into a hole and couldn't work her way out, finishing the game with -1,000 points (but she'd start at 0 at in game 2).

Here is the first clue in then Jeopardy! Masters 2025 final, from the Final Jeopardy category "Peoples of the World":

"Heard often in the film The Conqueror, this name of a once-nomadic people comes from a Latin word for Hell."

What is tartars?

Raut was close, but used a different spelling that the judges did not accept, so after risking it all he dropped down to zero points at the end of game 1. Groce was also incorrect, guessing Mongols, but she risked just 6,800, dropping her to 14,400 and giving her a nice lead heading into the second game of the finals.

With a more than 14,000 point lead, was Groce on her way to a repeat Jeopardy! Masters win or could Raut or Zaheer make a major comeback?

And boy did they give it their best. Thanks to true Daily Doubles in the Double Jeopardy round, Raut entered the final Final Jeopardy with 36,00 points and Zaheer had 20,800 points, both ahead of Groce's 11,000, giving them each a chance to make up their game 1 deficits depending on the results of the critical Final Jeopardy.

So, here's the clue for that Final Jeopardy, in the category "Paintings."

"The artist saw this subject as a kindred spirit and in 1890 depicted him with flowers used to treat heart disease."

And the answer is...

Who is Dr. Gachet?

Groce did all she could to defend her title with her correct guess and doubling of her score, giving her a grand total after two games of 36,400 points. But both Zaheer and Raut could top that score if they were correct. Zaheer was right as well, and with a wager of 16,000 she moved ahead of Groce with a final total of 36,800, placing her in the top spot before Raut's repsonse was revealed. But Raut also knew it was Dr. Gachet, and with his wager of 5,601, giving him 41,601 points and, a year after coming in second place, making him the Jeopardy! Masters 2025 champion.

Zaheer officially finished in second, while Groce finished in third.

Zaheer was correct and wagered 2,000 points, raising her score to 8,000. Raut also gave the right response, adding 2,001 points for a total of 12,001. So Groce just needed to be right to win... and she was, wagering 601 to give her final score of 20,001. So Groce earns another three match points, with Raut securing the other match point up for grabs.

Jeopardy! Masters May 28 game 2 Final Jeopardy 

Groce and Raut stayed on for game 2 of the night, joined by Isaac Hirsch. This game was almost a mirror of game 1, with Raut building an early lead and maintaining it throughout, totaling 19,600 after Double Jeopardy. But Groce could overtake him at 10,200 and Hirsch was still in play for second or a long-shot first place at 8,800.

The critical Final Jeopardy category was "Medical Words." Here's the clue:

"Charles Richet coined this term for a bad response to an antigen; the n-a was a late add to make it better-sounding (and harder to spell)."

Hirsch incorrectly guessed Rosecea, which cost him 1,402, dropping him to 7,398. Groce did come up with the right word, and with a wager of 8,601, raising her to 18,801. But Raut was still in the lead as his answer was revealed. Unfortunately Raut was unable to write down an answer in time, costing him 801 points, which lowered his score fo 18,799, losing the game by just two points. So Groce earns another three match points, Raut again earns one and Hirsch earns none.

Two of my comfort watches teamed up on Tuesday, May 27, as Jeopardy! Masters 2025 featured none other than the iconic Great British Bake Off and Great American Baking Show host Dame Prue Leith as a presenter for a category of clues about, what else, baking. The unexpected crossover between the two shows definitely gave me a spark of joy.

Leith’s category, officially titled “Baking with Dame Prue,” came in the Jeopardy round of the first of two games on the May 27 episode of Jeopardy! Masters, which featured Isaac Hirsch, Yogesh Raut and Victoria Groce, who looked as excited as all Bake Off fans likely were to see Leith.

Perhaps that excitement led to some nerves, as Groce was incorrect in the first clue in the category, where Prue asked them to identify a French cousin to the apple pie, similar to a tarte, made with a buttery flaky crust and sliced apples; Groce guessed tarte tatin, but the answer was a galette.

Groce redeemed herself by giving two correct responses in the category, while Raut and Hirsch also showed some baking knowledge with correct responses to clues.

Leith is not the first big name to help out Jeopardy! Masters host Ken Jennings with delivering some clues. Earlier this season Jamie Lee Curtis presented some about her life and career, Thunderbolts* stars Florence Pugh and David Harbour read clues about other “thunderbolts” in culture and history, and Celebrity Jeopardy! season 3 champion W. Kamau Bell presented clues about other bells.

The addition of Prue Leith on Jeopardy! gives me a little hope that maybe one day we will see Jennings tie on an apron and head into the white tent to show his potential baking skills in a celebrity version of the Baking Show; most likely The Great American Baking Show Celebrity Holiday specials, if any.

Speaking of The Great American Baking Show, season 3 is now streaming on The Roku Channel. Leith, meanwhile, recently debuted Prue Leith’s Cotswold Kitchen season 2 for those in the UK on ITV. And for those eager for a new season of Bake Off, it is expected to premiere in the fall.

Well, she did just that and then some (with the help of another Daily Double). She ended the game with the lead at 16,000, while Raut trailed at 7,400 points and Hirsch came in at 6,600. So it was a battle for second, with "20th Century Fiction" as the Final Jeopardy category. Here's the clue:

"The title of this 1959 work referes to a record given to graduating seniors at Ohio State University."

Hirsch could not come up with the right answer, losing 1,000 points dropping him down to 5,600 points. Raut did get the right answer, adding 6,801 points to his score for 13,201. Groce couldn't be caught, so getting the answer right was icing on the cake (risking no points kept her at 16,000). So that's another three match points for Groce, one for Raut and none for Hirsch.

Jeopardy! Masters May 27 game 2 Final Jeopardy 

In game 2, Juveria Zaheer, Matt Amodio and Roger Craig competed to see if they could secure a spot in the semifinals..

It was a tight game heading into Double Jeopardy, with all players separated by just 1,000 points. But a pair of true Daily Doubles got the second round off to a rough start for both Amodio and Craig. Amodio, like Groce, was able to recover and trail Zaheer by just 200 points; Zaheer was at 9,000 points, Amodio at 8.800. Craig, unfortunately, couldn't get his groove back and ended at -400 points, meaning he couldn't compete in Final Jeopardy. And the category for this game's Final Jeopardy was "British History." Here's the clue:

"When New Amsterdam was taken by the British, he was on the throne of England, but the city was renamed for his brother."

Who is Charles II?

Unable to participate in Final Jeopardy, Craig earned zero match points. As for the contestants at play, both Amodio and Zaheer were correct (and coincidentally enough both crossed out James II), so it would all come down to their wagers. Amodio wagered 2,000, moving him to 10,800, but Zaheer put up 8,601 points, which gave her the victory (with 17,601 points) and three match points, while Amodio earned one.

Unfortunately, that point won't be enough for Amodio to advance to the semifinals, as he lost out on a tiebreaker with Hirsch (number of games won). So that means the Jeopardy! Masters 2025 semifinalists are Victoria Groce, Yogesh Raut, Juveria Zaheer and Isaac Hirsch.

Like in the first game of the quarterfinals, this game was dominated by Groce and Raut, who finished with 32,000 and 20,800 points respectively and were vying for the three match points a win would bring; Amodio was all but assured a third place finish (barring something crazy) at 1,200 entering Final Jeopardy. As for the Final Jeopardy category, it was "Portmanteau Words." Here's the clue:

"A play on portmanteau coined in 2012, this seven-letter word is now used to describe a similar U.K. headline from 1973."

What is 'Brentry'?

This questions stumped everyone. Amodio incorrectly guessed 'canexit,' but wagered nothing so he remained at 1,200. Raut, meanwhile, had no response, which resulted in him losing 11,201, dropping him down to 9,599. Groce couldn't come up with the correct response either, answering "eurexit," but her wager of 9,601 would keep her in the lead, with a final score of 22,399 and giving her another three match points. Raut earned one point and Amodio none.

Jeopardy! Masters May 21 game 2 Final Jeopardy 

Closing the episode out are Juveria Zaheer, Roger Craig and Isaac Hirsch in game 2. All three players had a shot to earn a win entering Final Jeopardy, with Zaheer bringing up the read with 6,000 points, and Hirsch and Craig close at 10,000 and 10,800, respectively. The category for this competitive Final Jeopardy was "The Presidency." Here's the clue:

"Continuing his tradition of vetoes as a mayor and as a governor, he trails only FDR in total vetoes as president."

Who is Grover Cleveland?

Though she shook her head like she didn't think she got it, Zaheer correctly answered with the 22nd (and 24th) president, so she doubled her score to 12,000. Hirsch was also right, but was a bit more conservative with his wager, but risking 2,001 still got him ahead of Zaheer to secure he would finish no worse than second. Incredibley, Craig was in the process of writing Cleveland down as his answer, but he ran out of time and did not get it all written out, which means he has no answer. And despite losing just 799, that brings him down to 10,001 and gives him a third place finish, earning no point. Zaheer earned one point for second and Hirsch gets three points for the win.

Last summer, US viewers were introduced to the game show The 1% Club hosted by Patton Oswalt, airing on Fox and streaming on Prime Video. The show quickly became a hit, so it’s little surprise The 1% Club season 2 is back as part of our summer 2025 TV schedule. But there are a couple of changes that fans are going to want to know about with the game show.

We’ll get to that just below, but it's worth mentioning that the summer TV slate is filled with game shows. Joining The 1% Club on Fox are LEGO Masters season 5, The Quiz with Balls season 2 and reality/competition show The Snake. Elsewhere, ABC has Celebrity Family Feud, Press Your Luck, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Match Game.

The 1% Club airs Tuesdays at 8 pm ET/PT on Fox, but a rerun of the game show is going to air on Fox on Monday, August 11, at 8 pm ET/PT as well.

If you want to watch The 1% Club season 2, you will need either a pay-TV provider, TV antenna or a live TV streaming service (Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV and YouTube TV) with access to Fox, or a subscription to Hulu.

The 1% Club season 2 host

Another tweak to The 1% Club this season is that there is a new host. Instead of Patton Oswalt, who hosted the first season, Joel McHale is taking on hosting duties for The 1% Club.

McHale is already a staple on Fox with his show Animal Control, which was recently renewed for season 4, and the reality show Crime Scene Kitchen. McHale also has previous hosting experience with House of Villains and The Soup.

“99% of us are unfortunately not as funny as Joel McHale, which makes him the perfect host for The 1% Club. His unmatched approach to comedy is innately unpredictable and will take audiences on a thrill-ride as they watch him in action with our contestants, striving to put their wits to the test,” said Ryan O’Dowd, president of Unscripted, BBC Studios, Los Angeles Productions.

Here is the official synopsis of The 1% Club from Fox:

“The 1% Club is a unique, compelling and funny entertainment show that tests the nation’s intelligence, based on a scientific survey. It’s a chance to test how your brain works through a series of questions that all have a right answer but can also lead to a series of entertaining wrong answers along the way. Whether you’re a contestant vying for the cash prize or a viewer playing with your friends and family, answer enough questions correctly, and you could earn yourself a place in the 1% Club: an elite group of people who can honestly say they’ve outwitted 99% of the population.”

Presuming the game show follows the same basic format as season 1, the game will have its group of contestants answering 15 questions, starting with the 90% question and then increasing in difficulty until the final 1% question. All participating contestants answer each question, but if they get one wrong, then they are eliminated from the game.

So was Raut, but he went conservative with his wager, risking 4,600, which moved him into second place at 13,600, but needing Groce to answer incorrectly to get the win. But she was indeed correct, locking up the win with a final score of 18,001. So Groce gets the first three points of the quarterfinal, Raut gets one match point and Craig ends up with zero.

Jeopardy! Masters May 20 game 2 Final Jeopardy 

Game no. 2 on the May 20 episode saw the second group of quarterfinalists play: Juveria Zaheer, Isaac Hirsch and Matt Amodio. It looked like Zaheer was going to run away with this game early, but Amodio found and successfully answered the two Daily Doubles in Double Jeopardy, which made it a game, as Zaheer held the lead at 19,800 heading into Final Jeopardy, with Amodio right behind her though at 18,000; Hirsch was bringing up the trio with 5,000. The Final Jeopardy category to close out the first round of the quartefinals was "Colonial America." Here's the clue:

"This group was first formed in 1770 to defend land grants in New England; later, it would assert independence for its region."

Hirsch incorrectly guessed The Sons of Liberty, but only lost 10 points, dropping him down to 4,990. Amodio came up with the right answer, and took the lead with his 3,000 point wager, bringing him up to 21,000. It all came down to Zaheera, but she also guessed The Sons of Liberty, dropping her to second place with a score or 13,599. So Amodio picks up his first win of the tournament, netting three match points; while Zaheer adds one point to her tournament total; Hirsch scores remains the same with no match points in this game.

The summer TV season is upon us, so let’s play some games. The Quiz with Balls is new on Monday, August 11, at 9 pm ET/PT on Fox.

While the title gives you a broad sense of what the show is, let’s dive a little deeper into what The Quiz with Balls offers viewers.

The game show is described by Fox as a “high-stakes quiz show with a large-scale physical competition.” In each episode, two families are competing for a grand prize of $100,000. Each family must work together to answer multiple-choice questions. However, the twist is that the teams are standing on a high platform above a pool, and for each question a giant ball is allocated to a single spot where one of the family members is standing. If they get the question right, the ball will stop before it reaches the contestant. If they get the question wrong, the contestant is knocked into the pool, removing that player from the game.

The more players each team loses, the harder the questions get. But the longer they last, the more money they are able to bank. But when there is only one dry contestant left, they then compete in the final round for the $100,000 grand prize.

But Amodio, at 13,000 points, and Harmeyer, at 6,800, could still earn a spot with a second place finish, meaning there was plenty on the line in Finale Jeopardy. The critical category: 18th Century Science. Here's the clue:

"Naturalist the Count de Buffon mocked N. & S. American animals, like 'this elephant of the new world... the size of a very small mule.'"

Harmeyer was correct in her guess, and with a wager of 6,500 she jumped ahead of Amodio at 13,300, meaning he had to answer correctly to come in second. And he did, betting 601, which officially gives him the one match point for second place. That means Amodio and Groce are advancing to the quarterfinals, while Harmeyer exits the tournament with a runner-up prize of $15,000.

Jeopardy! Masters May 14 game 2 Final Jeopardy 

The second game of the May 14 episode featured Neilesh Vinjamuri, Juveria Zaheer and Brad Rutter all looking for their first match point in Jeopardy! Masters and a chance at advancing to the quarterfinals.

Unfortunately for Vinjamuri, this was a two-person match between Zaheer and Rutter, but Zaheer had the edge heading into Final Jeopardy (thanks to finding and nailing all three Daily Doubles), with 26,800, while Rutter had 15,800. Whoever came out with the win would secure the final spot in the quarterfinals. To figure that out they had to be correct in this Final Jeopardy category: American Composers.

Here's the clue:

Who is Aaron Copland?

No one was able to come up with the right response, with Vanjamuri guessing Leonard Bernstein, Rutter answering Charles Ives and Zaheer guessing Arthur Fiedler. So it would all come down to how much they wagered, and with Zaheer able to only risk 6,000 points because of her lead, that was enough to secure the win, three match points and a spot in the quarterfinals. Vanjamuri and Rutter earn $15,000 each for their time in the tournament.

Hirsch was also incorrect, guessing Paul, but he wagered nothing and picked up the three match points, while Harmeyer earned one and Vinjamrui earned no points.

Game 2 featured Roger Craig, Isaac Hirsch and Yogesh Raut, the first three winners of this year's tournament, which Jennings confirmed officially locks them into the next round, but with match points carrying over, they still have plenty to play for. Raut continued his dominant early run, building a massive early lead Craig and Hirsch, who initially struggled could not cut into in a significant way. So at 25,700 Raut locked presumably assured himself another three match points, while Craig (2,800) and Hirsch (4,400) were in a battle for second. Here's the clue for game 2's Final Jeopardy category, "Art History":

So it was a less dramatic Final Jeopardy, where the category was "Europe." Here's the clue:

What is Bordeaux?

Bordeaux is a city in France, located in the southwest of the country, that is well known for its wine producing.

Though Raut did not come up with the correct response (he guessed Glasgow), he risked nothing and could not be caught, so he locked up the three match points. Rutter also got the answer incorrect (he showed his support for the Philadelphia Eagles with a "Go Birds"), securing his third place finish (and no points). Groce was the only contestant to get the Final Jeopardy right, so she starts her Jeopardy! Masters defense with one match point.

Game 2 featured Matt Amodio, Roger Craig and Juveria Zaheer, a rematch of the most recent Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament. This one was closer than the first game, with all three players in striking distance for the win, though Craig led the way entering Final Jeopardy, with 15,200, followed by Amodio at 10,600 and Zaheer at 8,000. To category for this crucial Final Jeopardy is "World Literature," and here's the clue:

"A follow-up to an earlier work, this 1671 effort references eventual triumphs written of in the Book of Job & the Gospels."

What is Paradise Regained?

Paradise Regained was the sequel (yes, they had sequels even back in the 17th century) of John Milton's Paradise Lost.

All of the players got the question right, so it would come down to the wagering. Craig smartly bet enough to put himself ahead of Amodio had he bet everything, securing three match points. Amodio did not bet everything though, just enough to squeeze ahead of Zaheer by one point, besting her 16,001 to 16,000; so Amodio gets one match point and Zaheer unfortunately gets zero.

Jeopardy! Masters has become a fun annual tradition for the game show, as every spring Jeopardy! welcomes back some of its best players of all time for a prime time tournament. A fixture in the first two years has been self-proclaimed Jeopardy! “villain” James Holzhauer, but Holzhauer is not competing in Jeopardy! Masters 2025, which premieres on Wednesday, April 30 at 9 pm ET/PT on ABC.

This was a surprise to many when the Jeopardy! Masters 2025 field was announced back in March. First, because Holzhauer qualified for Jeopardy! Masters 2025 with his third-place finish in the Jeopardy! Masters 2024 tournament. And second, because for the first time, the field for Jeopardy! Masters has expanded to nine total players, up from six in the first two years. So why is James Holzhauer not on Jeopardy! Masters 2025?

During an Inside Jeopardy! Live on Tour event, Jeopardy! Masters executive producers Sarah Whitcomb-Foss and Michael Davies explained why Holzhauer would not be participating in the 2025 tournament — long story short, he chose not to.

“As we mentioned, it’s an invitational tournament,” said Whitcomb-Foss. “We absolutely did extend an invitation to James, and he decided, for this year, he was not going to compete.”

Davies added: “Absolutely his right. It’s an invitational. We invite the people we want to invite. … So we completely respect James’ decision.”

So by all indications, there does not appear to be any scandal brewing. Holzhauer simply opted not to participate in Jeopardy! Masters 2025. But it seems entirely possible that he could be invited and return to the tournament in a future year if he so chooses.

As for those who are going to be competing in Jeopardy! Masters 2025, they include defending champion Victoria Groce and 2024 runner-up Yogesh Raut. There’s also Matt Amodio, 2025 Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament champion and past Jeopardy! Masters contestant, Roger Craig, 2025 Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament finalist, Adriana Harmeyer, 2025 Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions finalist, Isaac Hirsch, 2025 Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions finalist, Brad Rutter, Jeopardy!’s all-time winnings record holder, Neilesh Vinjamuri, 2025 Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions winner and Juveria Zaheer, 2025 Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament finalist.

With Ken Jennings once again hosting the tournament, each episode of Jeopardy! Masters will feature two traditional games of Jeopardy! during the hour-long broadcast. Though questions will still have point values in the games, the contestants are competing for end-of-game points to move up the Jeopardy! Masters leaderboard. Three points are awarded to the winner of each game, one point for the player who comes in second place and no points for the third-place finisher. Tiebreakers on things like number of games won, correct responses and in-game points will also help sort out the leaderboard.

Once again, Jeopardy! Masters 2025 premieres on April 30 at 9 pm ET/PT on ABC. Episodes of Jeopardy! Masters will stream on-demand on Hulu the day after they air on ABC.

Adapted from the South Korean format of the original show, the series, which promises to have viewers on the edge of their seats, has already been described as "the ultimate TV challenge" that will bring together some of the country's finest minds.

Genuis Game started on ITV1 and ITVX on Wednesday, April 30 at 9pm. The following episode aired at the same time on Thursday, May 1.

The show will then air on Wednesday evenings at 9pm. You will be able to catch up on any missed episodes on ITVX.

David Tennant will be The Creator, guiding players as they attempt to navigate each uniquely crafted challenge.

Genius Game will see strategically minded players, chosen not just for their high intellectual prowess but also their social IQ, face the ultimate battle of survival.

To win, contestants will participate in a host of never-before-seen games all designed to not only test their intellectual acumen but encourage them to carefully and creatively use the art of manipulation to outfox their opponents and win a cash prize.

In the opening episode, the players take on Gold Heist, a group game and their first Main Match, as one set works out a strategy to become the player with the most wealth, while a lone contender finds themselves vulnerable and penniless. Who will be going home?

With the first person having been eliminated, only 10 players return for the Main Match of Zombie Game. The contestants who are designated zombies have to turn the ones who are humans into zombies, while their opponent must avoid being turned. Who will navigate their way through the apocalypse and be triumphant, and who will be sent home in the Death Match?

Episode 3 - Wednesday, May 7
Having said goodbye to another player, nine return for their third Main Match and compete to try to crack a 10-letter code word in Codebreakers. One player becomes the Undercover Agent and it's their job to protect the word and stop the other players from working it out.

The competition continues with Lights Off as players desperately try to avoid the Black Block in order to stay out of the Death Match, but tensions rise and tempers flare as players deceive to survive. When the Death Match then takes a surprising turn, which player's time will be up?

Currently gracing our screens on Saturday nights as a judge on Britain's Got Talent 2025, Amanda also fronts Netflix dating show Cheat: Unfinished Business and was most recently seen on BBC1 opposite Alan Carr in the hugely popular Alan & Amanda’s Spanish Job.

So, how does The Inner Circle actually work?

The Inner Circle is best described as a show that combines a quiz format with a social experiment.

With a cash prize at stake, the show sees players compete in a series of games and challenges, designed to test their general knowledge and strategic thinking.

But that's not all. In order to take home the cash, each player must decide which of their opponents they trust enough to form an alliance with. However, in a gripping finale, could the two players left at the end face the ultimate betrayal?

This brand new commission is the result of the BBC’s Entertainment and Daytime commissioning teams joining forces to identify and develop fresh and modern quiz and gameshow formats for BBC One and iPlayer for Saturday early evenings and Daytime/Early Peak.

The Inner Circle will be produced in Scotland by Tern and filmed at BBC Studiowork’s Kelvin Hall facility in Glasgow with post production taking place at Tern’s newly established Bumblebee Glasgow facility.

Jeopardy! Masters is back, and this time it is bigger than ever. Jeopardy! Masters 2025 marks the third annual edition of this tournament that pits some of the best Jeopardy! contestants of all time against one another as they compete for a $500,000 grand prize and the title of Jeopardy! Master. This year’s tournament, for the first time, features nine contestants vying for that honor.

Jeopardy! Masters premiered in 2023 as part of the classic game show’s push for more special prime time events. In addition to Jeopardy! Masters, that has included Celebrity Jeopardy! season 3, which concluded on ABC on April 23.

Jeopardy! Masters 2025 next episode

The Jeopardy! Masters 2025 tournament is set to wrap up on Wednesday, June 4, as ABC is airing a two-hour block of the game show that will cover the semifinals and finals starting at 8 pm ET/PT.

The four players remaining for the Jeopardy! Masters title are Victoria Groce, Isaac Hirsch, Yogesh Raut and Juveria Zaheer. All four will play in the first hour block for the semifinals, with only three advancing to the finals in the second hour.

In order to watch Jeopardy! Masters 2025 live, you need to have access to your local ABC station through a traditional pay-TV provider, a TV antenna or a live TV streaming service offering ABC (i.e. Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV in select markets and YouTube TV). To watch the game show on-demand, you’ll need a subscription to Hulu.

Matt Amodio is the only contestant to have played in all three Jeopardy! Masters tournaments to date.

One name that fans may notice is missing is James Holzhauer, who won the first Jeopardy! Masters tournament and placed third in the 2024 tournament. That third place finish did qualify Holzhauer for this year's tournament, however, as Jeopardy! Masters executive producers noted at a recent even, Jeopardy! Masters is an invitational tournament, and Holzhauer opted out of this year's tournament.

Ken Jennings will once again oversee the Jeopardy! Masters tournament as host.

Widely considered the greatest Jeopardy! contestant of all-time, Jennings was one of the guest hosts who took over temporary hosting duties shortly following the passing of Alex Trebek in 2020. He was then initially named the co-host of Jeopardy! alongside Mayim Bialik in 2022. However, Jennings took over as the sole host of Jeopardy! in 2023, which included hosting its primetime tournaments like Celebrity Jeopardy! and Jeopardy! Masters.

Jeopardy! Masters 2025 format

The Jeopardy! Masters tournament has a bit of a different format than other Jeopardy! tournaments.

The individual games themselves are the same as in your normal Jeopardy! episode, but instead of each game’s winner advancing and the losers being eliminated, the opening round of Jeopardy! Masters is more of a round robin tournament.

Each hour-long episode will feature two traditional games of Jeopardy!, with three of the nine contestants playing each other in each game. The winner of each game will earn three points, second place earns one point and third place earns no points. Players will amass points as they square off in just about every potential matchup from the field; those with the highest points at the end of this initial round will move on.

There are tiebreakers in the event that players end up with the same number of points. The first is the number of games won, the second is correct responses, the third tiebreaker is total in-game points (excluding Final Jeopardy and Daily Doubles) and the fourth tiebreaker is total in-game points (just excluding Final Jeopardy).

The final for Jeopardy! Masters will feature the top three players competing in two games, where whoever amasses the most points across the two games will be the Jeopardy! Masters 2025 champion.

TV fans have been enjoying watching famous people test their knowledge in Celebrity Jeopardy! season 3 over the first few months of the year. But if you’re eagerly awaiting the semifinals of the primetime Jeopardy! tournament, you’ll have to wait a bit. Following the final game of the quarterfinals last week, there is no new episode of Celebrity Jeopardy! season 3 airing on Wednesday, March 19, on ABC.

In fact, Celebrity Jeopardy! is on a two-week hiatus as the next new episode, which will be the first of three semifinal games, is not airing until Wednesday, April 2. As for why that is, this looks like it may just be a network choice to extend the season, as other regular Wednesday night programming on ABC — including Abbott Elementary season 4 and Shifting Gears this week — are airing as usual.

However, Celebrity Jeopardy! season 3 reruns are going to be airing on ABC on March 19 starting at 9 pm ET/PT. There will actually be two reruns airing, with the second taking the place of What Would You Do? at 10 pm ET/PT. You can watch these Celebrity Jeopardy! reruns (games featuring Rachel Brosnahan, Seth Green and Margaret Cho and Roy Wood Jr., Brian Jordan Alavarez and Phoebe Robinson) if you have access to your local ABC station. If you’ve cut the cord, you can stream these or other Celebrity Jeopardy! season 3 episodes on-demand on Hulu.

Celebrity Jeopardy! has become an annual spring tradition on ABC, as well-known celebrities compete in the classic American game show to win money for charities. Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings once again oversees the proceedings.

When the whistle blows on Super Bowl LIX you won’t have to change the channel to keep those competitive juices flowing, as Fox is offering viewers a special post-Super Bowl airing of The Floor season 3’s premiere episode immediately following the game broadcast on Sunday, February 9.

An exact start time isn’t known right now as the game could run longer than anticipated, but TV Guide has The Floor season 3 premiere starting at 10:30 pm ET/7:30 pm PT.

The Floor has become a very popular game show on Fox. Hosted by Rob Lowe, it sees 100 contestants face-off in duels on a giant grid of squares representing their personal field of trivia expertise. The winner of each timed head-to-head trivia battle takes control of their opponent’s square, while the loser goes home. The final contestant standing walks away with a “life-changing” cash prize.

Fans won’t have to wait long for The Floor season 3 to continue after its special premiere on February 9, as the show will start airing new episodes on its traditional night of Wednesdays starting on February 12 at 9 pm ET/PT.

Fox was not short of options for on shows it could give the coveted post-Super Bowl spot to. That moved her ahead of Tyson, answered Snuffleupagus (of Sesame Street) and dropped down to $8,399 for his final total. So it all came down to Peterman's knowledge of The Muppets. Unfortunately, she guessed Animal and made a big wager of $10,001, dropping her to $2,899 and third place.

That means that Tohn stage a late comeback from third place to first to advance to the semifinals. Peterman and Tyson, meanwhile, won $30,000 for their charities, Diana Disalvatore Nursing Scholarship at St. Catherine University and Strive.

New episodes of Celebrity Jeopardy! season 3 premiere Wednesdays on ABC, then become available to stream on-demand on Hulu every Thursday.

The new iteration of the classic TV game show Hollywood Squares that is being hosted by Nate Burleson and featuring Drew Barrymore as the center square is not going to be premiering tonight, Thursday, January 9, on CBS as previously planned. Instead, the show is delaying its premiere one week until January 16.

The reason for the move is the ongoing wildfires occurring across Los Angeles. The devastating fires that began earlier this week have burned thousands of acres of land, have destroyed many people’s homes and tragically have caused a few deaths. A company spokesperson shared that the light and comedic tone of the game show did not feel appropriate at this time, also noting that CBS-owned Los Angeles stations have been on 24/7 coverage of the fires these last few days.

In place of the Hollywood Squares premiere, CBS is going to air reruns of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage and Ghosts starting at 8 pm ET/PT. Reruns of those sitcoms were already planned and will still air at 9 pm ET/PT on the network.

This new version of Hollywood Squares brings back the classic tic-tac-toe-like game where a group of nine celebrities are asked trivia questions and contestants have to decide whether they agree with their answers or not. If they are correct, they earn the square. The goal is to get three squares in a row like you do in tic-tac-toe.

When Hollywood Squares premieres on its new date of Thursday, January 16, it will still be an hour long. In addition to Barrymore, celebrity guests for the show are going to include Tyra Banks, Julie Bowen, Whitney Cummings, Tiffany Haddish, Thomas Lennon, Ms. Pat, Jeff Ross and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog in game one. Game two will feature Tichina Arnold, Nicole Byer, Drew Carey, Pete Holmes, Debi Mazar, Bobby Moynihan, JB Smoov and Chelsea Peretti.

Other TV shows have been impacted from airing new episodes this week because of the wildfires, including Jimmy Kimmel Live! and After Midnight.

Celebrity Jeopardy! season 3 is here, with the first episode of the primetime Jeopardy! tournament premiering on Wednesday, January 8 on ABC. Unfortunately, all three contestants were not able to come up with the correct response. Luddington guessed palm trees, Greenfield wrote down coconuts and Bell thought it was pineapples. What did that do to the final scores?

Luddington wagered just $200, giving her a final total of $1,200. Greenfield, meanwhile, wagered all of his winnings, so he dropped from $7,700 to $0 with his incorrect response. That meant it all came down to Bell and how much he wagered, but he played it smart, wagering $2,916, which would have been just enough to cover him if he and Greenfield both got the answer right, but in this case gave him plenty of space to secure the win.

So, Bell is the first contestant to advance to the Celebrity Jeopardy! season 3 semifinals, while Luddington and Greenfield are eliminated but earn $30,000 for their charities, I Stand With the Pack and Wags and Walks.

Raid the Cage season 2 premieres tonight, Wednesday, January 8, on CBS at 9 pm ET/PT. What to Watch has been given an exclusive clip from the season 2 premiere that we wanted to share with you.

The clip, which you can watch below, sees contestant Patrick enter the cage and, as the game goes, try to grab as many prizes as he can in 24 seconds to help his team amass the most value in prizes to win the game. As you’ll see in the clip, he clearly has a strategy.

As co-host Jeannie Mae points out in the clip, Patrick made sure to grab a bunch of hand bags. Mae notes they are Celine and Gucci handbags, which as many consumers know carry quite the hefty price tag, so it appears to be a wise strategy from Patrick. In his rush we also see Patrick snag a few electronics. What we don’t know is the tally that Patrick amassed from this dash in the cage, so you’ll just have to tune in to Raid the Cage to see how he and his partner Sylvio do in tonight’s episode.

Raid the Cage returns to TV for the first time since its inaugural season in 2023. Hosted by Damon Wayans Jr. and Mae, contestants answer trivia questions to get more time to grab prizes in the cage, which as you saw includes things like handbags and electronics to cars and trips. The team that has gotten the highest value of prizes at the end of the game wins, giving themselves a chance for another shot to grab even more in a final round.

Get ready for some star-studded games of tic-tac-toe, as CBS is airing a brand-new edition of Hollywood Squares. While the game show will feature a new host and new celebrity guests, expect the same basic gameplay where contestants attempt to answer trivia questions with the help of the celebrities to get three in a row.

Hollywood Squares originally premiered in 1986, running until 1989. It came back on air in 1998 and continued until 2004. Both previous iterations of Hollywood Squares aired on NBC, but this latest one is being shown on CBS.

Nate Burleson has been tapped to host Hollywood Squares on CBS.

Burleson is a former NFL player (he played for the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions), but his post-football career has seen him become a prominent TV figure. Burleson is an Emmy-winning studio analyst who has been with CBS Sports since 2017; he is also the host of Nickelodeon’s weekly NFL Slimetime show and in 2024 was an analyst for Nickelodeon’s kid-centric alternative broadcast for Super Bowl LVIII. Burleson has expanded beyond sports, though, as he has also been a co-host on CBS Mornings since September 2021.

Burleson becomes the fourth-ever host of Hollywood Squares, with previous hosts being Peter Marshall, John Davidson and Tom Bergeron.

In essence, Hollywood Squares is a combination of trivia and tic-tac-toe, as contestants attempt to get three in a row on the board by correctly answering questions. The trick is that they are relying on celebrities’ answers and whether or not they believe their answer is correct.

In addition to getting to keep everything that they already grabbed, the winning team also plays a final round for even bigger prizes.

Ken Jennings has become the main man behind the lectern for Jeopardy!, and that will be the case again for Celebrity Jeopardy! season 3. This week's contestants are Rachel Brosnahan, Seth Green and Margaret Cho.

Widely considered the greatest Jeopardy! player of all time, Jennings officially took over the reins as Jeopardy! host in 2022, first part-time with Mayim Bialik from the late Alex Trebek. But as of 2023 he has taken over as the solo host for both the daily Jeopardy! games and primetime specials like Celebrity Jeopardy!

At this time, we’re not aware of any notable changes to the format for Celebrity Jeopardy!, so we expect that it’ll look much like last season.

As a refresher, three players will compete, buzzing in to answer clues in the form of the question, trying to rack up the most money/points, with whoever has that at the end of the game being the winner. However, there were some tweaks to the format for Celebrity Jeopardy!

Instead of the traditional two rounds of Jeopardy and Double Jeopardy, Celebrity Jeopardy! had three rounds. The values are also different than traditional Jeopardy! rounds: in round 1 questions are worth 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 points; in round 2 those are doubled to 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000; and in round 3 it rises to 300, 600, 900, 1200 and 1500.

When it comes to Daily Double questions, the first two rounds have the normal number of Daily Doubles associated with them (round 1 has one, round 2 has two), but there are then three daily doubles in round 3.

Final Jeopardy is the same as the normal game, with all contestants answering a question, wagering some amount of what they have earned over the previous two rounds.

The hour-long Celebrity Jeopardy! episodes consist of one game.

Deal or No Deal Island season 2 format

On Deal or No Deal Island, the classic briefcases associated with the game are scattered around the island, with more than $200 million potentially up for grabs to be split between the contestants. Each episode sees contestants compete in challenges to secure the briefcases that will be used in the episode’s classic game of Deal or No Deal. The player with the highest value case gets immunity and picks a player to enter “The Temple.”

The selected player then plays Deal or No Deal. If they make a bad deal (they take an offer from the banker that is less than what was in their briefcase), then they are automatically eliminated. If they make a good deal (for more than what was in their briefcase), then they get to pick who is eliminated from the game.

The winnings amassed from each game are added to a group pot that will grow throughout the season, the last player standing will take on the banker to potentially win a massive cash prize (season 1’s winner Jordan Fowler took home $13.85 million dollars).

Fast Friends is now streaming on Max, with the first of four episodes of the game show available and new episodes arriving each Thursday.

All episodes of Fast Friends are going to be available exclusively on Max (just like the Friends reunion was), so you'll need a Max subscription in order to watch.

A Max subscription will also give you the opportunity to catch up on key trivia tidbits yourself, as all episodes of the series are streaming exclusively on Max in the US.

Comedian Whitney Cummings has been tapped as the host of Fast Friends. Cummings made her name as a stand-up but also starred in her own sitcom, Whitney, which ran for two seasons.

"As a longtime fan of Friends, I am beyond thrilled to host the first ever game show," Cummings said in an official announcement. "After 30 years, the fandom surrounding this beloved series only continues to grow and now I have the great pleasure of awarding the ultimate fans with bragging rights for life."

Who's ready to head out on The Floor? The Fox game show that first premiered in January 2024 is back with an all-new, bigger season as The Floor season 2 arrives to entertain viewers.

Created by the team behind popular shows Big Brother, Deal or No Deal and The Voice (John del Mol's Talpa), The Floor is a game show growing in popularity around the world, including the US, where the first season’s debut was the most-watched unscripted debut for Fox in 13 years. And this year, they are ramping things up, increasing the number of contestants at the start from 81 to 100, making for a bigger, presumably more intense game.

The Floor season 2 finale airs on Fox on Wednesday, December 18, at 9 pm ET/PT.

Rob Lowe returns as the host of The Floor for season 2. In addition to his game show hosting duties for Fox, the Emmy-nominated actor (The West Wing) also stars in 9-1-1: Lone Star for the network; 9-1-1: Lone Star season 5 is now airing its final season.

This isn't Lowe’s first go-around as a game show host. He previously hosted the game show Mental Samurai for Fox, which lasted two seasons.

In addition to being a three-time Super Bowl winner, one of the best NFL tight ends ever, popular podcaster and dating Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce can add one more title to his bio: game show host, as he will be emceeing the new game show Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, which is coming to Prime Video in 2024.

A new twist on the fan-favorite game show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, a team of celebrities will see if they can help contestants answer questions in the hopes of winning $100,000. This is part of Prime Video's expansion into the game show format, following them exclusively streaming episodes of the Fox game show The 1% Club and soon launching their own version of Jeopardy!, Pop Culture Jeopardy!

ABC's game show summer is taking a night off, as Lucky 13 and Press Your Luck season 6 are being replaced on the network for something on Thursday, August 1 — NFL preseason football.

The two game shows are not airing at all on August 1 as the first the NFL's Hall of Fame game between the Chicago Bears and the Houston Texans is airing on ABC starting at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT. It is being simulcast on ABC and ESPN, which is going to be a semi-frequent occurrence during the fall TV calendar for Monday Night Football games.

If you're disappointed you won't be able to watch Lucky 13 and/or Press Your Luck tonight, you can take some solace in the fact that this appears to just be a one week thing, as both shows are expected to return to their normal times — 8 pm ET/PT for Press Your Luck, 9 pm ET/PT for Lucky 13 — on Thursday, August 8.

Lucky 13 is a brand new game show on ABC for the summer of 2024. It features Not Dead Yet star Gina Rodriguez and Hall of Fame basketball star Shaquille O'Neal as hosts and sees contestants give answers to 13 true or false questions. They then have to decide how confident they are in their answer. If they can correctly guess if they're original answers were right or wrong, they can win big.

Press Your Luck is hosted by Elizabeth Banks and is basically the same format of the game that became a hit in the 80s, testing contestants' trivia knowledge to earn spins on the big board for prizes as they tried to avoid the dreaded "whammy."

These are just two of ABC's roster of game shows that have helped fill out its summer primetime lineup. Others include Celebrity Family Feud season 10, a new season of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and Claim to Fame season 3. ABC has also been airing The Bachelorette season 21 and on select Sundays a classic family movie as part of The Wonderful World of Disney.

While absent from ABC this week, if you want to watch Lucky 13 or any of the other ABC game shows on-demand, they are available to stream on Hulu.

The Jeopardy! empire continues to expand. Already a fan-favorite with its daily Jeopardy! games, the classic game show has recently had success with Celebrity Jeopardy! and Jeopardy! Masters as primetime specials on ABC. Now the game show is on streaming with its latest iteration, Pop Culture Jeopardy!

As the name suggests, this version of Jeopardy! focuses more on the news and facts that you'd find on social media more than in textbooks, but contestants will still need to know a wide range of topics and, as always, remember to answer in the form of a question. Ken Jennings is no longer the only Jeopardy! host in town. While Jennings has taken over the mantle from Alex Trebek as the host of daily Jeopardy! and its primetime spinoffs Celebrity Jeopardy! and Jeopardy! Masters, he is not going to host Pop Culture Jeopardy!

Instead, that role is being taken on by Colin Jost. The Saturday Night Live cast member (who has also made headlines for his remote reporting from Tahiti for the 2024 Olympic surfing competition) will be the person behind the podium for the new game show.

"What is: I'm excited," Jost was quoted after the news became official.

Pop Culture Jeopardy! gameplay

Pop Culture Jeopardy! will follow the basic premise of the classic Jeopardy! game, where contestants will select prompts from different categories and be required to answer in the form of a question. The game's winner will ultimately be decided by who has the most points/money at the end of the game.

What is going to be different about Pop Culture Jeopardy! is that instead of individual players competing, each game will see teams of three going against each other.

And again, pop culture trivia is going to be the focus, ranging from "Alternative Rock to The Avengers; Broadway to MMA; Gen Z to Zendaya," per Prime Video.

"During each game of Press Your Luck, three contestants compete against each other, answering questions to earn spins on the Big Board. Contestants then use their spins to win cash and prizes while trying to avoid the WHAMMY, which could take all their winnings and leave them with nothing. The winning contestant moves on to the bonus round to face the WHAMMY in a final battle for the chance to win $1 million."

That's the basic premise for the ABC game show Lucky 13, the latest edition to the network's slate of primetime game shows that air throughout the year, but particularly as part of its summer TV slate.

How to watch Lucky 13

Lucky 13's inaugural season appears to have come to an end, but you can watch any of the episodes that aired over the summer by streaming them on-demand on Hulu (subscription required).

Lucky 13 hosts

Lucky 13 features not one, but two hosts: Shaquille O'Neal and Gina Rodriguez.

O'Neal is an NBA Hall of Famer and current media personality, most notably on TNT's NBA pre and post-game shows (though TNT is losing its NBA rights). O'Neal has also acted in a handful of movies over his career, including Blue Chips, Kazaam and Steel.

Rodriguez recently starred in the ABC sitcom Not Dead Yet (it was cancelled this past spring after its second season), but has also been the star of Jane the Virgin, I Want You Back and, most recently, the Netflix movie Players.

Lucky 13 gameplay

Here is the official description on the gameplay of Lucky 13:

"From the creative who introduced the world to Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Lucky 13 tests contestants' knowledge with 13 true-or-false trivia questions but with a cunning twist: just how well do they know what they know… and, just as importantly, how well do they know what they don't know? If they can accurately predict how successfully they've answered 13 questions, they could take home a $1 million cash jackpot."

ABC has not offered many more specifics at this time. Some additional questions we expect to be answered when the show premieres: can you/when can you leave with money already won from correct answers? What are the monetary values for each question? Is it one wrong and done or is there a strike system? Are there any aids or hints that can be used by contestants?

This Morning star Dermot O'Leary has landed a huge new job away from the ITV daytime show. 

Dermot will host his own game show, Silence Is Golden, which will land on UKTV's Dave next year. 

Silence is Golden will see the studio give the audience £250,000 to share between them. The catch is that they can't make a sound as they watch a host of comedy acts do everything in their power to make them break their silence.

Dermot, who has been with ITV for 17 years, will be joined by three returning comedy captains, one of whom has been confirmed as former Taskmaster star Katherine Ryan, and around 30 comedians who will all try their best to make the crowd laugh. The more sounds they get out of the audience, all of whom will be mic’ed up, the further down they'll bring the prize pot. Should it get all the way down to zero, the comedians get to give money to charity.

Speaking of his new gameshow with a difference, Dermot said: "I'm so looking forward to Silence Is Golden. When a show like this falls into your lap, you can't quite believe your luck.

"I'm looking forward to having lots of fun with the audience, our comedians and assorted cast of regulars, all trying to make the audience laugh, gasp and giggle."

Dermot has had plenty of experience hosting game shows over the years, presenting  ITV1's The X Factor for 15 years and he has also fronted shows like Big Brother's Little Brother on E4. 

Silence is Golden's Executive producer Richard Bacon said in a statement: “The feeling when you’re not allowed to laugh at a funeral? It’s that – the game show.”
