Ever since Den of Thieves 2: Pantera landed on Netflix on March 20, the Gerard Butler heist movie has been a big hit on the streamer. It was the most-watched movie on Netflix in the US for the week of March 17-23 and the third most-watched movie globally, even though it’s not available in all markets like the top two movies globally, The Electric State and The Twister: Caught in the Storm.

Long story short, after earning solid reviews and being among the early box office winners among 2025 new movies, Den of Thieves 2 is a movie that viewers are really enjoying watching. But if Den of Thieves 2 has you amped up and wanting to watch another heist movie, Netflix has a great option to add to your queue — a Best Picture-winning movie no less.

1973’s The Sting, starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman, is streaming on Netflix and is a great movie to watch after Den of Thieves 2: Pantera. Let me explain.

The two things that really work well with Den of Thieves 2 is the relationship between Butler’s Nick and O’Shea Jackson Jr.’s Donnie. The former enemies now allies have a great back and forth in the movie. The other element of Den of Thieves 2 that stands out is its meticulously orchestrated and executed heist. The Sting has both of those elements.

Redford and Newman, having already created an iconic duo a few years prior in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, reunited in The Sting as professional criminals Henry Gondorff (Newman) and Johnny Hooker (Redford) to pull off a big con. While there may not be the tension that’s present as you question the new alliance between Nick and Donnie, Newman and Redford’s chemistry more than makes up for it.

As for the actual heist, The Sting’s is an elaborate scheme that involves getting a crime boss to place a massive bet that our heroes intend to keep for themselves. It features plenty of twists and turns throughout that are very fun trying to keep up with.

One element that The Sting has that Den of Thieves 2 does not is a clear and satisfying villain, in this case played by Robert Shaw, best known for From Russia with Love and Jaws. His crime boss Lonnergan is dangerous and easily dislikeable, allowing us to root for our heroes beyond just wanting to see them pull off the con. While Den of Thieves 2 has some looming threats, there is no clear or satisfying villain hanging over the story.

The Sting is definitely more of a comedy than Den of Thieves 2, so it may not be an apple to apple comparison, but it’s a great heist movie to watch if you’re still in the mood.

Netflix subscribers can now watch Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, the Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr. heist movie, on the streaming platform. This is one of the first 2025 new movies that originally played in movie theaters that Netflix has added to its platform so far this year, and it just so happens to be one of the more popular movies from the first three months of the year.

A sequel to the cult favorite 2018 movie Den of Thieves, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera picks up about a year after Donnie (Jackson Jr.) pulled off robbing the Federal Reserve in Los Angeles. He is now pulling jobs in Europe, specifically focusing on the diamond market. But when Big Nick (Butler) tracks him down, Donnie is surprised when Nick is looking to get in on Donnie’s latest job rather than turn him in. Can these former enemies work together and land a big score?

As I mentioned, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera was one of the big scorers at the box office in the early days of 2025. It was the top-grossing movie in the US during the weekend it was released and as of March 19, is the fifth highest-grossing movie that premiered in 2025 (when factoring in movies that were originally released in 2024, it comes in at 11th).

Adding to that, the movie has a “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and a nearly 80% positive score from audiences. Read our official Den of Thieves 2 review for my own thoughts on the movie, but my broad take, and what appears to be the general consensus, is that the sequel outdoes the original movie in just about all facets.

Christian Gudegast co-wrote and directed Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, just as he did with the original movie. In addition to Butler and Jackson Jr., the movie stars Evin Ahmad, Salvatore Esposito, Meadow Williams, Swen Temmel, Michael Bisping and Orli Shuka.

Unfortunately, you can’t watch both Den of Thieves movies on Netflix right now, as only Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is available on Netflix (subscription required). However, you don’t need to sign up for another subscription service to watch the original movie, as it is available on Tubi and is streaming free on Prime Video. However, it is also on Peacock and AMC Plus if you already have a subscription to those services.

Without getting into spoilers, the Den of Thieves 2: Pantera ending left the door open to make this a trilogy, and after the movie premiered it was announced that Den of Thieves 3 was in development, though little info is available at this time.

Joan is a thrilling six-part drama on ITV1 and ITVX that tells the true story of Joan Hannington and her notorious rise in the 1980s as one of the best diamond thieves.  In a desperate bid to escape her troubled past and provide for her daughter, Joan embarks on a tumultuous life of crime.

Here's a recap of everything that happened in Joan episode 3. 

The third episode picks up a week later. Joan is sitting in a diner and Boisie comes in after scoping out the next job. He says the house is miles away from anywhere, has bad security, no window locks, and they can break in at night. There's an oil painting he wants to steal, worth thousands. He says Hugo, an auctioneer he knows who valued it, says the woman who lives there is alone and usually drunk. Joan says, if someone wanted it valued, someone's waiting to buy it. She suggests instead they make a sham, as in a fake, and swap it. 

It cuts to Joan hobbling up to the home, wearing a curly wig, and practicing a Scottish accent. Knocking on the door, she says she's twisted her ankle and needs to come in. While the woman is hesitant, Joan suggests sharing a drink. While in the house, she learns the woman's husband has left her, as well as her daughter, and she can't afford the house or bills. She offers Joan to stay the night.  

At 2am, Joan lets Boisie into the house. She says she put valium in the woman's nightcap. As they go to swap the painting, a man, presumably her husband, walks in calling for Henrietta. As they stand still on the staircase, Boisie tells Joan to scream. He pulls down his balaclava and the man breaks a glass bottle in defence. Boisie pulls out a gun. Joan runs upstairs and jumps out the bedroom window, escaping to the van. Boisie gets into a fight with the man, but leaves with the painting. They drive off.

Back at the flat, Joan is worried both the woman and man know her face. Boisie says she doesn't need to worry, but since they can't sell the painting for a while, he takes it to his warehouse. Again, he won't let Joan come.

Angry, she steals money from the drawer and leaves. She heads to the spot she buried the diamonds, digs them up, and goes to a jewellers to sell them. The shop owner questions her and tells her she's been conned and they're only cut glass. He tries to hold onto them and Joan smacks his hand and runs out with them.

Joan goes to the Lombard Hotel, where she had afternoon tea. Boisie shows up and tells her to come back, but Joan insists they need to trust each other. Agreeing, Boisie drives her to the warehouse and shows her his collection of antiques. He reveals he had nothing, not even family, growing up and his mum gave him up for her boyfriend, only wanting him back to claim family allowance. Joan reveals her father used to beat her a lot. She leaves the diamonds in his warehouse and he lets her take a ring. They kiss and he tries to take her dress off again, but she puts it back on. Then she lets him and the scars on her back are revealed. 

The next morning, Joan rings social services to say she's waiting for a visit, but they never come. She sees an advert for Sapphire Goldsmith's of London on the TV and has an idea. Next, you see her dressed up at the store where she sees a ring she wants to steal. She tells Boisie her plan and asks him to help. They argue as he doesn't want to be involved because he's busy with the antiques shop.

The next day, the doorbell rings. Joan runs to see if it's social services, but it's Albie. Boisie has shared Joan's plan and he agrees to help her. They go back to the jewellers where she tried to sell the loose diamonds. Albie knows the owner, King, and Joan puts him in his place about her plan and convinces him to make a sham of the ring. She says all she wants is £80,000 and the value of the ring is £250,000. He agrees to do it. 

Joan plans to pick up the sham, go to Heathrow, get a black cab to St James' Park Hotel as Mrs Stephanie Sutherland, before heading to the jewellers the next day. Boisie seems jealous of Albie and asks if he'll be staying the night at the hotel. The next morning as Joan gets ready, it reaches the scene that started Joan episode 1. Leaving the hotel, she heads to the jewellers.

As she arrives, with an American accent she greets the salesman. She pretends to have a cold and holds a tissue to her nose. She tries on the ring again and says her friend will be meeting her as she hopes he'll buy it for her. Albie walks in and kisses her. She flirts with him and he goes aside to speak to the salesman about purchasing the ring. She sneezes and as she goes to put the tissue back in her purse, she swaps the ring on her hand with the sham in her purse. 

Boisie walks in and says he's Mr James Sutherland, seemingly jealous and angry at catching them together, Joan acts sheepish and walks out with him. The salesman, shocked, asks Albie if he still wants to the buy the ring, but he says no, not now, and leaves too. Outside, they celebrate, but Joan is keen to go back to King and complete the deal. She goes and gets her £80,000 cash. 

That night, Joan, Boisie, Albie, Val, and Nancy have a dinner party. Albie and Joan flirt and Boisie looks angry. He stands up to toast her and ends up proposing marriage, to which Joan says yes. 

The next morning, the doorbell rings and social services have come. The flat is covered in empty bottles from the night before and Joan looks worse for wear. The social services woman says Kelly is thriving and the Ashburys have asked to adopt her. While it's not set in stone, the woman thinks Joan still can't provide Kelly with a stable environment. 

That night, Joan drives to see Kelly. She sees the Ashburys watching TV downstairs and breaks in to visit Kelly asleep in bed. She hides as Mrs Ashbury walks into Kelly's bedroom to say goodnight. Upset, Joan walks away from the house.

Now that Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist has officially kicked off its run, the limited series is managing to build quite the fanbase. The WTW team has even deemed the overall show a hit, which you can read why in our official Fight Night review. 

Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist dramatizes the real-life story of one of the most bizarre robberies in Atlanta history. The year was 1970, and Muhammad Ali (Dexter Darden) was preparing for his comeback fight against Jerry Quarry. As Ali was getting ready for the fight that could see him reclaim his title, a man by the name of Gordon "Chicken Man" Williams (Kevin Hart) was planning an afterparty on behalf of Black mafia kingpin, Frank Moten (Samuel L. Jackson). 

Chicken Man thought if he could prove himself to Frank, he'd rise in the ranks in the criminal world. Unfortunately for Chicken Man, things went awry on the night of the party when a group of armed gunmen interrupted and robbed the party guests, including Moten and the top men within the "Black Mafia" network. 

Given the dangerous men who were victimized, Atlanta became a hotbed of violence as Moten and his associates worked to find out who robbed them and look for Chicken Man, who they suspected was the ringleader behind such a brazen move. But he wasn’t, which means he spent a lot of time hiding and trying to prove his innocence. Thankfully for him, he found an unlikely ally in Detective J.D. Hudson (Don Cheadle). 

With all that being said, and knowing the series is based on true events, we opted to take a closer look at the real Gordon "Chicken Man" Williams in an attempt to see what the man behind the character was really like. So is Hart's portrayal of him spot on, or is there more fiction than fact onscreen? Here's what we found out. 

Who was Gordon "Chicken Man" Williams? 

According to a 2004 Creative Loafing story, back in 1949, J.D. Hudson was a new cop, arresting a known street hustler at the time. The arrest went anything but smoothly and eventually led to a minor scandal for Hudson. Williams saw the scuffle that occurred between Hudson and the suspect, and Williams wound up serving as a witness when an internal probe was launched. Hudson would go on to be temporarily suspended from the force, but he didn't hold anything against Williams as he was just a teen at the time. 

In the years that followed, Williams became known as a bit of a street hustler himself in Atlanta, both ambitious and friendly. He was a "bet pick-up man" for an illegal lottery and a bookie for a guy named Short Papa. 

As far as the nickname Chicken Man, Williams acquired that after buying chicken sandwiches. One day he bought several chicken sandwiches for $0.52 a piece for a group of beautiful ladies he saw standing nearby. He then made a routine of buying these ladies chicken, and when one started calling him "the Chicken Man," the nickname was born. 

Fast forward to the night of the 1970 Ali comeback fight, Hudson spotted Williams in the arena, thinking the hustler could be up to no good, but figured he had other things to be concerned with. If the cop only knew Williams was preparing to host a house party at one of his homes after the fight. 

Williams' girlfriend, Barbara Smith, didn't attend the fight because she stayed behind at the house to set up. While she was in the kitchen she heard the front door open, and that's when three men in ski masks walked in armed. From there, they did some setting up of their own, ready to rob party guests as they arrived, which turned out to be somewhere between 80 and 200 people, including men from organized crime. 

Since it was his house where the crime took place, Williams became the number one suspect. But in a twist, a famous publication reported he was murdered by contract hitmen days after the robbery, so police didn't get to really speak with him. As The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported though, he wasn't killed at all but wound up living out his years in Atlanta as a pastor. 

In terms of Williams' guilt or innocence of the robbery, again looking at Creative Loafing, Hudson shared, "I knew [Williams] wasn't dumb enough to pull a stunt like that. This was a man who ran a million-dollar operation from a pay phone on a street corner. He was smart. He could've run IBM or Coke. There's no way he would've risked all that to pay somebody off. This was pulled off by a bunch of young thugs who were trying to knock over a party, and when they got there and saw how big it was, they improvised."

Additionally, Williams noted the day after the robbery, he voluntarily went with his attorney to the police station and answered all of law enforcement's questions. He also made a point to stay highly visible in Atlanta so people knew he had nothing to do with the crime. Williams passed away on December 1, 2014. 

Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist is now streaming on Peacock.  

When Peacock announced the cast of Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, it was understandably easy to get excited about the limited series without even knowing its premise. After all, you have four Oscar nominees in Samuel L. Jackson, Taraji P. Henson, Don Cheadle and Terrence Howard, and arguably one of the most marketable men in Hollywood, Kevin Hart, leading an A-list cast. Plus, there was the safe assumption that there would be tons of on-screen chemistry given a few of the stars had previously worked together. WTW had it pegged as one of our most anticipated fall TV shows.

Yet, with all this star power and assumed chemistry, the performances offered in Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist were disappointingly just solid. To be clear, the performances weren't horrible by any means. However, it just seemed as if the stars could be replaced with other actors and my fascination with the series would relatively remain the same. 

For Henson and Howard's part, at times it felt as if I were watching Empire’s Cookie and Lucious Lyon in a period piece. While Henson and Howard don't play opposite one another in Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, she again plays a woman willing to bend the law for her "man," and he again portrays an associate in organized crime. Perhaps the similarities in the roles are why I didn't feel they stood out in the Peacock show. 

With Jackson, he delivers a familiar authoritative presence he has shown a knack for bringing to other roles, a la Snakes on a Plane or Shaft. So he doesn't offer many surprises or nuance (said with the utmost respect for the hardest-working man in Hollywood). And while I appreciate seeing Hart in a role that's not comedic, I'm not convinced he does enough to outshine anyone in the period drama. 

If there's one performance that scratches the surface of phenomenal, it comes from Cheadle. His portrayal of a frustrated Black cop on an Atlanta police force laced with racism was rather captivating, especially when paired with the evolution of the character's conflicting opinion on his contribution to the Civil Rights movement. 

Eclipsing the acting though was a phenomenal plot. The story follows an Atlantan low-level criminal named Chicken Man (Hart) who sees an opportunity to rise in the underworld ranks when New York boss Frank Moten (Jackson) comes to town, looking to host an afterparty following Muhammad Ali's (Dexter Darden) return fight to boxing. 

Unfortunately for Chicken Man, his chances for ascension are dashed when he and Frank become the victims of a legendary robbery. As Chicken Man and Frank try to find out who was behind the robbery, both for different reasons, Detective JD Hudson (Cheadle) works to solve the case to prevent his city from becoming a hotbed of guns and revenge. 

The premise proved to be an entertaining one. To top it off, there was a secondary story, as previously mentioned, which followed Detective Hudson as he tried to figure out his place as a cop on a 1970 police force in Georgia. He wanted to change how his colleagues interacted with the Black community, but in the same breath, the Black community didn't see him as the ally on the force he hoped to be. 

Helping to fill out the eight-episode limited series is an exploration of Ali's relationship with the South, during a time in his career when he was wildly unpopular for his strong stance against the Vietnam War, a moment that is seldom touched on in pop culture. The fictionalized account keeps you enthralled in the show as the other plotlines gain their legs. So there was never really a time when I was watching that I found myself bored. 

It's because of these storylines that Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist is more than just mediocre. While the performances from the actors, by and large, aren't mind-blowing, they do just enough to make the work of series creator/writer/showrunner Shaye Ogbonna come to life.

A true crime story from the 1970s is getting turned into a TV show in Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, a new show coming out on Thursday, September 5, and we'll help you figure out how to watch.

Fight Night tells the story of an armed robbery during a 1970 boxing match, which was Muhammad Ali's comeback fight. The host of the party tries to clear his name by finding the perpetrators, and has to join forces with a detective with whom he's clashed before.

A big-name cast stars in Fight Night including Kevin Hart and Don Cheadle as the host and detective respectively as well as Samuel L. Jacson, Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, Chloe Bailey and Rockmond Dunbar.

How to watch Fight Night in the US

If you live in the US, you'll be able to watch Fight Night by using the NBCUniversal streaming service Peacock, which is gaining all episodes of the series at once on Thursday, September 5.

There are two Peacock tiers. The cheaper one, for $7.99 per month or $79.99, is Peacock Premium which makes you watch commercials during your streams. The pricier one, Peacock Premium Plus, costs $11.99 per month or $119.99 annually but it'll remove ads for you.

How to watch Fight Night in the UK?

If you live in the UK, you'll be able to watch Fight Night for free... but you'll have to wait a little bit.

The show will be uploaded to the streaming service ITVX on Monday, October 21, roughly six weeks after its US release. All episodes will land at once.

How to watch Fight Night in Australia

If you live in Australia, you'll be able to watch Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist on the streaming service Binge. It'll get all episodes at once, but due to the time zones, you'll have to wait until Friday, September 6 in order to stream them.

There are three Binge prices: Basic for $10 per month, Standard for $18 per month and Premium for $22 per month (each has an annual equivalent too). The main difference sbetween them are the number of devices you can stream from simultaneously, but the lower tier doesn't offer 4K streaming. 

All three tiers have a 7-day free trial which you can use to check out the library without paying, though this rolls into a monthly plan.

How to watch Fight Night in New Zealand

If you live in New Zealand, you'll be able to watch Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist without paying. That's because it's coming to TVNZ+, a free streaming service available to those situated in New Zealand.

All of Fight Night will join TVNZ+'s burgeoning library on Friday, September 6 at 8 am local time.

The Mole season 2 episode 2 ended with Hannah and Tony at a stalemate over whether they’d let all the prize pot money run down to zero, or give up the exemption card to the other player. As Hannah (main image) suspected, Tony gives it to her before the money runs out. But, from the $45,000 they had in the prize pot when the game began, only $9,870 was left. The worry now, which Andy expresses, is that a couple is forming within the game.

Ari returns, hands Hannah the exemption card, rounds up the prize pot to an even $10,000, and informs the remaining players that it’s time for the elimination quiz. Following the same premise as episode 1, every player must answer 20 questions about the Mole (or who they suspect the Mole to be) and the player with the most wrong answers gets eliminated.

Once again, after they’ve completed the quiz, the players sit around waiting to find out who is the next on the chopping block. Their phones light up green for safe and red for elimination. This time round, it’s Andy who is taken out of the game. Hannah and Tony share a winning kiss as Andy’s taken away in a car. Though now in a couple, Hannah says, “There can only be one winner, so I don’t how that’s going to work out. Maybe it’ll be our first fight.”

Time for a heist 

For the third mission, the remaining 10 players head to Forest City in south Malaysia. They’re split into two cars and a text from Ari confirms that their team for the next mission is who is in their car. Now, they must pick one volunteer who is the person most capable of performing under pressure. Team one is Mike, Tony, Hannah, Sean, and Q. Team two is Deanna, Ryan, Neesh, Melissa, and Muna. Team one picks Sean and team two picks Melissa.

Ari meets the teams at one of the high rises in Forest City to reveal the mission. He explains, two apartments have $10,000 jewelry hidden in a safe and each team must pull off a heist. To do this, the team leaders have to rappel down the building from the roof to find the right apartment, break in, let their team in, crack the safe, and escape.

After a nervous start, Sean and Melissa both descend the building and find their apartments. After letting in the team, Ari tells them to find numbers around the apartment that will help form the code to unlock the safe and to use the bag they’ve each been given to help. While Q focuses on the flashlight with no batteries, Tony tells him it’s worthless. Fortunately, he sticks with it and figures out that, once he finds batteries that work, it’s a blacklight. This means it’ll light up things in the dark that the naked eye won’t see. They turn off all the lights and shine it on the numbers on the safe for fingerprints.

Trying one go with the fingerprints, they fail to get in and the possibilities of the code are vast. Each team only gets three attempts before they get locked out, so they need to be sure. Melissa finds an envelope that says for $5,000 they can get a clue. But they pocket it for later. They try a number based on what they find with the blacklight and then another. Both fail.

Hannah and Tony decide they’re confident between two codes and, since they have two tries left, walk up to the safe to try them and the first one fails. They try again after coming up blank and lose. Melissa’s team, who have the envelope, decide to open it and the clue provides them with something they already knew. Fortunately, between the two choices they’ve determined with the blacklight, they try one last time and it works.

Both teams meet Ari after the mission and Melissa’s team are surprised to hear that Sean’s team didn’t find any shining numbers with their flashlight, even though they got it working. The mission is over with $5,000, out of the potential $20,000, added to the prize pot.

An intense game of bluff

While the players talk about the fallout from the partially-failed mission, they meet Ari at a restaurant. They think it’s for food and drinks, but Ari tells them it’s time for another elimination quiz. But, not before another mission.

In the middle of the table are ten fortune cookies; five with money for the pot, five with exemptions. Each player gets to see what they have and must bluff their way to try and convince their fellow players they don’t have an exemption, if they have one, so that they can keep it for a free pass from the next elimination quiz.

Each round, a vote takes place to remove players who they think have exemptions off the table until there’s only five players left. Make it to the end with cash, it gets added to the pot. Make it with an exemption, the player holding it survives elimination. If they vote correctly on all five, $50,000 gets added to the prize pot. Once they’ve selected their cookies, the conversation begins to twist and turn about who has money or an exemption. 

Four people claim $5,000 though there’s only two in the game, four people claim $10,000 though there’s only two in the game. Tony claims $20,000 and so does Ryan, but only one of them is telling the truth. Viewers see that Tony is the one being honest, but given his track record so far he’s worried people won’t believe him. Ryan goes against him knowing this and pins her hopes on it being her best shot. The episode ends while viewers eagerly wait to find out how the game of bluff goes down.

Mix an all-star cast, an epic crime story and 70s allure, and you get the anticipated limited series Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist. 

Funnyman Kevin Hart, Oscar-nominated actors Don Cheadle and Taraji P. Henson and the hardest working man in Hollywood, Samuel L. Jackson, help lead an incredibly stacked cast to tell the infamous story of an armed robbery that occurred right after Muhammad Ali's historic 1970 comeback fight. The robbery made quite the splash in Atlanta at the time and left an undeniable mark on the city.

It's to this day the world's largest known property theft—on Saint Patrick's Day in 1990, two men disguised as police offers entered the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, Massachusetts, and stole 13 works of art valued at an estimated $500 million, including pieces by Rembrandt, Degas and Vermeer. Exactly how the men managed to get away with the heist, plus the whereabouts of the missing artworks, has been a mystery for three decades, a true-crime conundrum that serves as the subject of this week's episode of the CNN Original Series How It Really Happened.

The primetime series "delves deeply into some of the most notorious crimes, mysteries, trials, and celebrity tragedies of our time" and has already taken on topics like the 1912 Titanic sinking, the post-9/11 anthrax attacks and the Oscar Pistorius murder case. And now the "Gardner Art Heist: Stealing Beauty" episode—airing tonight, May 19 at 9pm on CNN—delves into details of the infamous robbery and its repercussions not only on the Massachusetts-based museum but on the art world at large. 

Along with never-before-seen security footage straight from the Gardner Museum on the evening of the robbery, tonight's How It Really Happened edition will include "an interview with the museum security guard on duty who details the events of that night and his experience being held captive by the intruders," per CNN. There will also be testimonies from FBI special agents, government officials and local journalists who covered the case, who "provide expert insight into the international undercover operation attempting to recover the missing art and the key players in organized crime who have been suspected of the heist."

To tune into tonight's hourlong special as it airs, you will need access to CNN. The cable news network is available on most traditional cable TV providers, as well as live TV streaming services like Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV and YouTube TV. Berlin is a thrilling prequel to Netflix's popular Money Heist franchise. The eight-episode series delves into Berlin's (Pedro Alonso) past, casting us back in time to a daring Parisian auction house heist mission. 

In episode 4, the team finally gets their hands on the jewels. However, thanks to a disagreement inside the vault, the team almost got caught in the act. And the problems didn't stop there, either; despite managing to cover their tracks at the auction house as planned, Bruce's missing motorbike lands some of the team in hot water.

Here's a full recap of how Money Heist: Berlin episode 4 played out. 

A near miss

Berlin returns from his romantic getaway and reunites with the team to carry out the heist as the final jewels are deposited. Whilst they're making their way through the tunnel, Damián chides Berlin for disappearing for two full days. Berlin tersely responds by asking if Damián has removed the cameras from Polignac's apartment yet. Since they weren't expecting to have to break in for a couple more days, he hasn't; Berlin says he'll get rid of them even though it wasn't his job.

With Keila playing the pre-recorded footage of the vault over the CCTV monitors, the team is free to carry out the plan and get inside the vault. Whilst she's on overwatch, the rest of the crew begin retrieving the jewels from the deposit boxes, calling out their item numbers so Keila can tick them off. 

Whilst inside, Damián (still reeling from the breakdown of his marriage) challenges Berlin about destroying Camille's relationship with Polignac. And when Berlin suggests his affair was more passionate than Damián's marriage, the professor snaps and slams him up against the vault door. 

This almost spells disaster for the crew, as the deposit box Berlin was holding tumbles out of his hands... and Polignac overhears the sound outside as he's signing the deposits off at the security desk. Although the guard says he didn't hear or see anything, Polignac has him enter the antechamber (since there's a delay whilst the vault door seals) to check everything's okay. Bruce and Cameron scramble to close the gaps in both the rear wall and the vault's "back door", managing to do so just in time for the guard to see nothing looks to be amiss.

With that near miss out of the way, Polignac heads home, and the crew finishes bagging the remaining jewelry after Damián assures Berlin he won't be coming on another of Berlin's jobs and begins the next phase of the plan: hiding all the evidence they were ever inside Chez Vienot. Roi and Berlin take the jewels back to their hotel, leaving the rest of the crew behind to weld the walls and steel joints they could through, and to brick up their heist equipment inside their tunnels in the catacombs, using antique bricks to make it look like the walls remain undisturbed.

Plotting revenge

At the hotel, Berlin takes Roi with him to Polignac's apartment. He administers the chloroform to Polignac, and the pair set about removing the cameras. Berlin tells Roi he'll deal with the cameras in Polignac's bedroom. Before leaving, Roi tells Berlin he thinks Damián is right, and that his affair threatens to compromise the job (chloroforming Polignac wasn't in the original plan until Berlin felt slighted by the man, after all). 

Berlin tells Roi never to judge him and sends the young man packing. However, Berlin retrieves the keys to Polignac's car, and borrows his hat and coat, and speeds off to the cottage he and Camille own in Chantilly. There, Berlin plants one of the individual gems from one of the stolen necklaces; it looks like he's trying to frame his love rival for the entire theft!

Meanwhile, the rest of the crew continues to cover their tracks. A snapshot from their planning meeting sees Keila ask when they plan to remove her CCTV bypass, as this will obviously show the real camera feeds. As you'd expect, Damián and Berlin have planned for this, too. 

In the middle of the night, they connect the auction house directly to the high-voltage power cable underneath the streets of Paris, which completely fries the place's electronics. Plus, Keila is put in charge of masquerading as the security team's boss and ordering them to assist elsewhere so they can't detect any foul play.

With the power out, they're free to remove Keila's technical wizardry without anyone noticing any changes to the camera feeds. What's more, the power outage also disables the system that opens the vault doors. And since they plan to do this at 3 am, and the security team won't be able to get hold of the vault technicians (who are based in Geneva), this gives them the necessary time to finish covering their tracks. 

Once they've left Chez Vienot behind, everyone's given strict instructions on how they're going to leave. They are sent back to the hotel in separate groups, and are told to thoroughly clean their rooms from top to bottom (to avoid leaving DNA traces behind) and to stay in their rooms all night, before checking out (again, separately) in the following morning. 

A loose end

That plan sounds watertight, but there's the small problem of Bruce's missing motorbike, and the fact that he's in the computer system at the rental place. He swings by Keila and Cameron's room and talks Keila into helping him break into the office so she can hack the system and delete his files. 

To avoid Berlin's ire Bruce brings Keila back to his and Roi's room, and tells Roi to leave since they're going to hook up as a cover so they can sneak out. This leaves Roi at a loose end; initially, he approaches Damián (who is hard at work sealing the jewels in inconspicuous parcels and packages) and asks if he can stay with him, but Damián refuses. Subsequently, Roi resorts to staying with Cameron, but she talks Roi into celebrating their successful gig with her.

The episode wraps up with Keila and Bruce's misadventure. The pair break in, and Keila hacks into the computer system and starts hunting for the scanned image of Bruce's passport. Unfortunately, Bruce spots that there are several workers sitting downstairs playing poker... and a security worker spots Bruce skulking around. 

The security officer comes upstairs to find Keila (who has hurriedly donned a uniform) pretending to be the new girl on the team. She says she came in early to get a head start on her first day, and asks the security guard to make her some coffee, all while Bruce is hiding under the desk. 

Although the guard miraculously buys her explanation, things soon get much, much worse for the pair. The rest of the poker players come upstairs and settle in, opening beers and reheating leftovers and quizzing Keila over her commitment to the job. Keila finally finds Bruce's passport scan on the hard drive, but is unable to delete it from the system. Hearing she's having computer problems, the guard helpfully offers to unplug the machine to reboot it. So, he reaches down under the desk... and finds Bruce in his hiding spot.

Berlin is the latest addition to Netflix's Money Heist franchise. This prequel dives into one of Berlin's (Pedro Alonso) past jobs, a daring heist that saw him assembling a crack team to steal a load of jewels from a Parisian auction house.

In episode 3, Berlin and the crew finally open up the vault's back door. And since they have a wait on their hands before the jewels are brought into the building, he tells his crew to enjoy Paris and disappears on a getaway with Camille to try and steal her away from her husband once and for all.

The next phase

Episode 3 continues with Berlin excitedly talking up the next phase of their plan at the hotel: opening the "back door" to the vault at Chez Vienot. Keila starts explaining that, now she's successfully hacked into the system, she can play recorded footage of the empty vault and the antechamber so the guards can't see what they're up to. Partway through, Bruce interrupts by going over to the minibar in the hotel room; affronted, Berlin tells him to finish the entire bottle there and then.

Before he continues, he explains why he hired a young, green crew for this massive heist; he can teach them how to behave, and how to follow the plan, without their egos interfering. We then see the group continue the break-in as  Damián explains the next steps.

Now that they've got access to the vault's antechamber; they cut through the joints on the vault's back wall and then lift it with a remote-controlled crane just high enough so they can crawl in, making it so they can swipe the jewels whenever they're deposited. But since that won't happen for a few days, he tells them to "enjoy Paris" in the meantime and promptly disappears to continue courting Camille. 

He and Camille go for a meal at a Michelin-starred restaurant, but their date is interrupted when Camille's husband, François Polignac arrives. She panics but Berlin tells her to invite François over to the table; he pretends to be an art dealer that Camille was meeting for a business lunch and promptly storms off after causing a scene. Afterwards, the pair reunite and Camille tells Berlin she finds her time with him exhilarating, and he begs her to take a trip away with him for a few days to the Hotel Le Reve D'Or. 

Getaway

The rest of the crew are celebrating at a rooftop restaurant. As they plan how they're going to celebrate their triumph, Damián gets a phone call from his wife. She tells him she wants to separate. He's devastated and decides to stay in the hotel to keep an eye on the cameras. Cameron says she'll stay and keep him company, whilst Keila, Bruce, and Roi plan to go out partying.

Later, the trio are walking down the riverbank. Bruce asks Roi where he stashed the motorbike, as he's been getting repeated calls from the rental company demanding it back. Roi refuses to tell him... until Keila lets slip that the police could use the photo from Bruce's fake passport to identify him. So, seeing that they've got a loose end to tie up, Roi tells him the bike is with Father Toureaux's ex-cons.

While Berlin and Camille continue their passionate affair at a luxurious hotel, Cameron tries to comfort Damián over his changing relationship but ends up giving him the idea that his wife must be having an affair. After he storms off to think things through, she overhears the auctioneers on their surveillance devices discussing the final preparations for the jewels. 

Back at the other hotel, Camille gets a call from François. He'd returned home and learned all about her affair with Berlin after spotting her emails on her open laptop. Berlin disappears into the gardens, celebrating what he's sure is about to be his next relationship, whilst Camille tries to smooth things over with her husband on the phone. 

Second fiddle

Cameron returns to Damián's room in Paris. He's meticulously looked over his relationship and found several bits of evidence that prove (to him, at least) that's been cheating on him, and begins explaining it all to her. 

Cameron interrupts his rant to tell him the jewels have arrived in the vault. However, since they're going to be appraised in a day, and then they'll be brought to a press conference on Wednesday before being sold on Thursday. Damián realizes this means their plans have changed: they'll have to steal the jewels that night.

Roi reaches out to Berlin to tell him about the changing timeframe; after spotting Camille calling him back up to the room, Berlin promises he'll be there, but he has to hang up.

In their room, Berlin is baffled when Camille reveals that François is surprisingly understanding. He doesn't want to stand in the way of their affair and even says he wants to meet him. Worse, Camille tells Berlin she wasn't ever planning to leave François; in fact, François had just told her he'd been thinking about starting a family with her, and Camille says this has re-sparked a flame for him.

Berlin speeds away from the hotel and receives another call from Roi. Damián was getting anxious because Berlin had answered his phone call, but said not to worry about it since Berlin was already en route. When Roi asks if Berlin is okay, his boss breaks into a rant about Camille and François. And when Roi tells Berlin to separate his personal and professional lives, Berlin says he can't possibly give up on her now. Instead, he tells Roi to get the ingredients to make chloroform so he can deal with François properly.

Berlin is the latest chapter in Netflix's Money Heist franchise. The prequel series follows the titular character as he embarks on one of his most lucrative jobs ever: stealing a hoard of priceless jewels from a Parisian auction house.  

Money Heist: Berlin's second episode picks up right where we left off: Berlin heads off to try and woo Camille, whilst Roi (and Cameron) head off to retrieve the chalice from Father Toureaux. They eventually get their fake artifact back (after a rough encounter with the priest's two ex-cons, the gang's free to move onto the next stage of their plan to break.

Here's a full breakdown of everything that happened in Money Heist: Berlin episode 2. 

Chalices and chases

Episode two begins with Berlin walking outside to charm Camille, the latest object of his affection. She's running late for her visit to the opera and about to get into her cab, but he successfully talks her into letting him tag along. Meanwhile, Cameron brings the motorbike over to Roi so he can intercept Father Toureaux en route to the airport and retrieve the chalice. 

Camille gets changed into some colorful clothes during the ride and the taxi pulls up to "The Opera", which Berlin subsequently finds is actually a punk rock club (meaning he looks just a little out of place in his tuxedo). He manages to fit right in and cuts loose alongside Camille, whilst his friends are on their mission.

Disguised in black leather clothes, Camille and Roi catch up to Toureaux and attempt to drive by and snatch his case from him. Unfortunately, the two ex-convicts who worked for him stepped in to retrieve the bag. 

One of them threw a bin at the pair, knocking Cameron and Roi off their bike and forcing them to flee on foot. With the two ex-cons giving chase on their motorbike, Cameron and Roi run through a wedding party and steal a small car to drive off.

Cameron and Roi are stopped in their tracks when they drive through a funeral procession but use the confusion to duck into a nearby parking garage. Inside, the pair set off car alarms to try and distract their pursuers as they head towards a car they can steal. But when Roi hotwires the car, he sets off the alarm and they narrowly avoid being detected. Frustrated, one of the ex-cons arms himself with a nearby fire axe.

Whilst Berlin and Camille get to know each other better at the club, Cameron and Roi climb into another stolen car and start to drive off. The ex-con with the fire axe slashes at one of their tires as they drive off, and they crash into a wall. As Cameron and Roi try to run away, the other convict turns the firehose on them, blasting the chalice out of their hands. When they recover, the pair flee the scene, empty-handed. Camille and Berlin also tax a cab back together, and he writes his phone number on her arm before they go their separate ways across the street from one another. 

Tunnel vision

The next morning, Bruce drops by the hotel looking for Cameron so he can get his bike back. He finds Keila tinkering with a virtual reality world and is impressed by her technical wizardry. She straps some sensors on his body, and it's clear there's chemistry fizzing between them.

Cameron, Roi, and Damián catch up over breakfast. Damián is furious that they didn't tell him about their mission to get the chalice back. Luckily, he reveals that Toureaux had brought the artifact back to him in the night; out of fear for his life from Roi and Cameron's botched robbery attempt, he'd decided not to journey to Spain anymore and is taking a week of leave... giving the gang seven days to continue digging in the catacombs, unimpeded. 

Damián sends Roi to wake Berlin up, but their boss is awoken by a surprise phone call from Camille. Delighted, Berlin invites Camille out for breakfast; she confesses she's married, but is nevertheless interested in getting to know him, and is disappointed to learn he's planning on leaving Paris imminently. 

When Roi arrives at the hotel room, Berlin lets him in and offers up a toast over his romance. Their celebration is short-lived, though, as Camille knocks on the door, asking to be let in. As all their stakeout equipment is on display, Berlin rebuffs Camille's advances, telling her he's not looking to just have an affair. Roi congratulates him for doing the right thing (Camille is married, after all), but Berlin soon chases Camille down the hall and they start making out.

A montage of Berlin and Camille zipping around on dates around Paris follows. Alongside, we also see the rest of the gang continuing their work underground... and we can see Keila's attention is frequently focused on Bruce. And despite being told to keep things purely professional by Berlin in episode one, it looks like Roi might still be interested in Cameron, too.

Back at the hotel that evening, Keila has a heart-to-heart with Cameron about her newfound feelings for Bruce. She's not sure what to do, seeing as she's 12 years older than him; Cameron tells her to go for it if she's just looking for a little fling but warns Keila to be careful if she's developing genuine feelings. 

Cameron tells her the best way to deal with things is to cut loose, so they turn the music up and start to dance. Bruce drops by, and Cameron drags him into the room, and the trio soon calls Roi to join in the fun.

Breaking in

The following morning, Berlin explains the next stage of the plan to the group (and we see it play out before us). 

Having reached the retaining wall they needed to dig through to reach the Chez Viénot auction house vault, they planned to enter the vault itself via the "back door", rather than through the main steel doors. 

To access the back door, they move into the air chamber and service area, where they need to get changed into full hazmat suits so they don't leave any DNA traces behind. 

Once inside, they're faced with another concrete wall. The plan is to cut through the iron joints but not to remove the blocks just yet as the antechamber is covered by CCTV. 

They plan to enter the chamber when there's no active auction and only two security guards stationed in the area. After observing the guards' every movement, so they can predict their behavior, they dream up a plan to divert the guards' attention while Keila can hack into their security system. 

Bruce is dispatched as a pizza delivery guy to draw the guards away from their monitors and generally rile them up to the point they start a fight with him. Meanwhile, Keila and Damián hack into the CCTV system, noting that there's a flaw in their plan as there's a door in the chamber that someone could walk through at any moment. 

Partway through the plan, Keila messes up and cuts the wrong wire. Luckily, Berlin had given Bruce a pill he could take to fake the symptoms of a seizure. Whilst the guards are busy attending to him, Keila bypasses her mistake just in the nick of time, and the group flees the scene and replaces the concrete block so there's no trace of anyone ever having been inside the chamber. 

Keila now has full control of their security system, leaving them ready to enter the next stage of the plan: figuring out how to open the door to the vault unnoticed, so the gang can come and go as they please.

Netflix's smash-hit Spanish drama franchise Money Heist has expanded once again. Following the 2022 Korean remake (aptly titled Money Heist: Korea), the latest installment is a prequel that takes us back to Berlin's (Pedro Alonso) glory days. After assembling a crack team, the group managed to steal 44 million euros' worth of jewels... in a single night. 

The first episode of Money Heist: Berlin introduces Berlin's gang of thieves, and shows how they set that plan in motion.

Setting things in motion

Money Heist: Berlin begins with Berlin telling us that his wife is leaving him, before he promptly is picked up for a heist by his crew, Keila, Roi, Damián, and Bruce. The five of them arrive at a stately home disguised as police officers, and Berlin walks into the dining room, asking after Mr Antonio Vals.

Berlin produces a search warrant for the home and disappears with Vals. He is taken into a locked storage room; inside, he asks Vals to open a case holding a chalice and tells Vals he's not really a police officer. In exchange for the chalice, he tells Vals he won't tell the police he's got a collection of priceless artifacts locked away in his home. 

Another dinner guest realizes the rest of the squad aren't really police officers, and tries to challenge them. But when Berlin returns, he threatens the man into submission after isolating him from the group and taking their ID cards.

We then cut back in time to the rest of the gang heading to a fancy hotel in Paris. There, Berlin lays out the plan for the new gig and introduces Cameron, a "thief-in-training" to the rest of the team.

The new plan? To use the stolen chalice as a "key" to enable them to break into an auction house to steal a treasure trove of royal family jewels by digging through a wall in the Parisian catacombs. 

Damián ages the chalice in ammonium chloride, and they head to a church. Pretending to be archaeologists, they pay a visit to a church run by Father Toureaux and overwhelm him with fake evidence that suggests the oldest church in France could well be buried beneath his building.

Eyes on the prize

After we see the team convince Toureaux to let them dig, Berlin explains why the group met in a luxury hotel. Their room is across the street from the auction house's director, Monsieur Polignac, and the next stage of the plan is to break into his apartment to learn exactly when all of the jewels they plan to swipe in one night will be delivered to the building. Berlin also pulls Roi aside; he'd spotted Roi taking an interest in Cameron and warns Roi to keep their relationship purely platonic. 

Roi, Keila and Cameron proceed to break into Monsieur Polignac's apartment; Bruce is following the director on his bike, whilst Damián and Berlin keep watch from the hotel room. The three crooks break in and set up hidden cameras all over the place, narrowly avoiding detection by a dogwalker who looks after Polignac's pet dog, Quentin.

After leaving Polignac's place, Roi visits Cameron and tells her they have to keep things professional. During the night, Berlin takes over watching the cameras from Damián, and swiftly becomes distracted by Polignac's wife, Camille. Berlin ends up following Camille to a bar that evening and watches her sing, entranced. Damián wakes up from his nap and notes that Camille is no longer in the apartment, and Berlin has disappeared from the hotel room.

At the dig site, Berlin's teammates plant the stolen chalice as fake evidence to convince Father Toureaux to let them keep digging. Berlin arrives halfway through the day and proceeds to tell Damián all about the new woman he's become infatuated with; Damián reminds him that Camille just so happens to be the wife of the man they're about to rob, suggesting he should really go after anyone but her.

As the priest descends the stairs under the church, the crew pretends to find the buried chalice; Toureaux is amazed, and promises to get the necessary parking provisions for all their extra equipment so they can continue their "excavation".

Complications

We then cut to Berlin and Roi sitting in a car outside the bar Berlin followed Camille to the previous evening. Berlin ropes Roi into the "chance meeting" which Berlin has carefully engineered in order to woo Camille. He tells Roi to pretend to be an old friend he's meeting for the first time in a while, and promptly walks in to try and charm her.

Although their chat goes well, Berlin does not get the desired response from Camille, and worries that he's done something wrong. Roi reminds him that she's still married, but he refuses to believe her marriage to Polignac is enough to keep her from him.

Meanwhile, the rest of Berlin's crew are making their way through the Parisian catacombs. They follow Damián's digital map to the precise location they can drill through to gain access to the auction house, and set up their drill. 

Later, in the hotel room, Roi is keeping watch on Polignac and Camille, and overhears the auctioneer having an argument with his wife because he forgot they were supposed to go the opera. Berlin sees this as his chance to charm her, and prepares to go to the opera.

However, there's a problem under the church. Father Toureaux tells Keila, Damián and Bruce that he's taking the chalice to the University of Salamanca to present the Dean with the chalice... which risks exposing the entire operation, as he'll soon realize the artifact is a fake. 

Having received the news, Berlin tells Roi to do "whatever it takes" to get the chalice back from the priest... whilst he dons his tuxedo and gets ready to go the opera.

How would you describe your character in The Heist Before Christmas? 
James Nesbitt says: "My character is the bank robber. It’s hopefully a feel-good movie, which captures the spirit of Christmas, but also is holding a bit of a mirror up to what are very challenging times, with the cost-of-living crisis in the UK and Ireland and further afield. It tells a story of two brothers, Mikey and Sean, brought up by their single Mum, and the struggles they face. Mikey is very lovable, very mischievous, gets in a lot of trouble, doesn’t believe in Christmas, or anything, and really is this sort of angry young boy who is trying to hold his family together. He’s desperate, and has come up with what he thinks is an ingenious plan to rob a bank, dressed as Santa Claus. Although he’s got real menace, and his intentions are bad, he’s also a bit of a klutz and very accident-prone."

How do young Mikey and Sean get tangled up with your bank-robbing Santa? 
James says: "Mikey sees me run off with lots of money, and decides he wants it, as it’s about time his family was given something fair at Christmas. His little brother Sean wants a bike, and Mikey’s determined to get that for him. Great mayhem, drama and comedy ensue!"

Do you remember getting a particularly memorable Christmas present when you were a kid? 
James says: "My first bike, which was called Nippy. I remember coming downstairs and seeing it in the living room, and just not being able to believe it, and feeling so overjoyed."

Did you enjoy playing such a larger-than-life, villainous character? 
James says: "They always say: ‘Dying is easy, comedy is hard’. It was fun to do comedy again, and this has a lovely, quirky, slapstick feel to it." 

How was it reuniting with Timothy Spall after all these years? 
James says: "Timothy is a grown-up actor, and I feel very in awe of him. He’s also very funny, and was brilliant with the kids, so warm. He’s exactly what you would want Father Christmas to be like."

What would you put on your own Christmas list?
James says: "I'd  like a photo of me with Erik ten Hag, the Manchester United football manager. I would also like to be 25 years younger, and for my daughters to stop telling me to stop sucking my thumb." 

What do you hope audiences take away from this festive drama?
James says: "I hope they laugh, love the characters and think about what Christmas means – being generous and kind to others. But mostly I hope they’re entertained."

Does this drama have a strong Christmas message? 
James says: "It’s a film in which the spirit of Christmas may not be dead, even to Mikey. And between these different Santa Clauses, and amidst this crime and these difficulties, maybe there really is Santa out there, and his message, and the spirit of Christmas, are alive."

What was it like filming near where you grew up in Northern Ireland? 
James says: "I still live there most of the time, by the sea in Portrush. It’s become a hotspot location for so many other films and TV shows, including that little-known series, Games of Thrones."

What makes Northern Ireland a good setting for this Christmas story? 
James says: "When I was growing up, Northern Ireland was in a really difficult situation, and Christmas was a time for people to almost forget about the Troubles, and think about the message of Christmas and bringing people together. Also, it’s just such a beautiful place."

Centring on a cash-strapped family, does this Christmas story seem very topical to you?
James says: "It really does open a window onto the cost-of-living crisis, which is terrible, and people are really struggling. Christmas can be a very difficult time of year, and I think a lot of it will resonate with viewers."

Since you’re playing a bad Santa, is there anything you dislike about Christmas? 
James says: "How early everything starts. I hate the cynical marketing that happens from October."

Timothy Spall plays a man who claims to be the real Santa Claus. Here he tells us more abiut his part in The Heist Before Christmas....

Can you give us a brief synopsis of The Heist Before Christmas? 
Timothy Spall says: "It’s set in a small town in Northern Ireland. A young boy Mikey, who is a bit of a challenging youth, is determined to get his brother a bike for Christmas. He lives with his Mum and his little brother Sean, and they are financially challenged, they haven’t got much. His Mum works hard, she’s a single parent, she tries to look after her kids. Mikey’s a very bright but quite difficult kid, and always in trouble. He witnesses, amid a Santa Dash, a bank robbery. And he pursues one of the Santa’s who is the robber. The police are struggling to find him because there’s about 50 Santas running around the town. Mikey follows him into the woods after seeing him take the bag of money. He’s determined, after having a terrible row with his mum, to go and find this Santa and get what he hopes is a cut of the deal. When he goes out into the woods… he hears this moaning and he comes across this old man, who he assumes is the bank robber. 

"Now, this old man, Santa, is a man seemingly from a Nordic country who says he’s actually Santa, and he’s fallen out of his sleigh. Mikey’s little brother Sean follows him into the woods and is spellbound by this figure of Father Christmas, but then the bank robber turns up and takes them all hostage, and then we’re into an intrigue and a battle for Mikey’s soul, between the bank robber who recognises Mikey as a novice version of himself wanting the cash, and Santa, who sees this good kid who is actually struggling with trying to find out what is right and wrong. 

"A big adventure ensues. It’s a bit of a caper with a bit of a commentary about ‘kids with’ and ‘kids without’ at Christmas – and it’s also very funny we hope!"

What grabbed you about Ronan’s script?
Timothy Spall says: "It’s got the classic element of kids, Father Christmas, you know, but it’s so different, it’s such an unusual angle. You’ve got a lot of comedy, and a very deep, profound message in it, without wearing it on its sleeve, and it’s also a bit of social commentary… what I loved about it is, it’s a battle for a kid’s soul, really, a bright kid who through his circumstances, his life situation, has gone astray, and he’s going bad, because he’s angry, because life is unjust, and he’s clever enough to know that. He’s electing to take the alternative route… he’s worked out that he’s from an area and a background, he’s not going to have any opportunities, he’s too young to work out that opportunities are going to come his way, so he’s going down the wrong route. He’s struggling with growing up at the same time as working out what it’s all about. He’s got his kid brother who he cares about, and he’s got his Mum, who is struggling. So, you’ve got that whole serious side of the story, about people who are living a life that’s quite difficult."

It will be cool for the grandkids to see you as Santa...
Timothy says: "Oh yeah! I’ve shown them some of the pictures, and I made them a little film as Santa, of me in the woods, but I re-watched it the other day and it’s actually a bit sinister [laughs]… I showed it to somebody, and they were like, “That’s scaring me!”

What was the shoot like? It must have been rather chilly…
Timothy says: "It was cold, but I could get a lot of thermals on, which I did. There were a couple of nights where it was five or six below [freezing], but you know, you’ve got a lovely [production team] – they kept you warm, and you’re looked after, people coddling you."

* Of course Timothy first hit fame when playing loveable Barry in the 1980s series Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, which was later rebooted. In 2023, he starred as murder victim Peter Farquhar in The Sixth Commandment. Timothy is Peter Pettigrew in the Harry Potter movies and played notorious hangman Albert Pierrepoint in the movie Pierrepoint. Timothy has also been in The Syndicate, The Pale Blue Eye, Hatton Garden, This Is Christmas and Fungus the Bogeyman. 

Who else is starring in The Heist Before Christmas? 

The role of 12-year-old Mikey Collins in The Heist Before Christmas is played by Bamber Todd while Joshua McLees plays his little brother Sean Collins. , Laura Donnelly (The Nevers) plays Patricia while Bronagh Waugh (The Fall) andLloyd Hutchinson (Bad Sisters) are also starring.

Bamber Todd says: "I would describe it simply as a new way of looking at what Christmas is like for other people, because some people don’t have a great Christmas. The whole film is centred around Josh’s character Sean wanting something for Christmas that his brother, my character, Mikey, knows he’s not going to get. So, the whole film is Mikey trying to get Sean a bike for Christmas, basically. Everything around the film is… as I was saying, kids would ask for a bike and it would be there, but some children don’t get that."

Joshua McLees says: "Last Christmas, I don’t know how it happened, because I’d already done the audition, I knew the story, and it was Christmas time, and then I got a bike. I didn’t even ask for it. Basically, the whole story is about how other children – I have an amazing Christmas, Bamber does too – but there’s other kids who are less fortunate… you must always appreciate what you get.

Laura Donnelly loves here chracter: "She’s an incredibly easy character to empathise with. She’s fundamentally good and yet she’s not perfect. She’s just doing her very best. I think there are so many people in the UK and in Ireland who are in a very similar position to her. It seemed like a really timely story, and to me, she felt like the beating heart of it. A person who is doing her very best in a world that’s letting her down."

Writer Ronan Blaney says: "I wrote the first draft, it must be, 15 years ago. But it was always about that pressure, financial pressure that Christmas puts people under. The template for the movie was always It’s a Wonderful Life, that idea of a story which is funny, which is uplifting, but at the same time, it’s very dark, it’s about a man who [dies by] suicide or attempts to [die by] suicide. The idea for this was, we want an uplifting, funny, slapstick story, but if you want to have light, you have to have darkness as well. The darkness was the social background of the characters and why they wanted the money so desperately, why the mother cheats in the raffle to get the bike [for example] and stuff like that. It’s very serious themes, but we made, I hope, a very funny film as well."

Returning to his role of Berlin is Pedro Alonso. He appeared in all seasons of the original Money Heist, even after his character was killed off in Part 2 (he appeared in flashbacks throughout the rest of the series). Outside of Money Heist, the Spanish actor has appeared in Spanish-language shows like The Ministry of Time and Padre Casares.

Joining Alonso in the Berlin cast as his team of thieves is Michelle Jenner (Bird Box: Barcelona) as Keila, Tristán Ulloa (Warrior Nun) as Damián, Begoña Vargas (A Different View) as Cameron, Julio Peña Fernández (Through My Window) as Roi and Joel Sanchez, who is making his acting debut in the series.

The series will also feature Julien Paschal (One Year, One Night) as Polignac, their target. There are also going to be some Money Heist veterans, as IMDb lists Itziar Ituño, who played Raquel Murillo, and Najwa Nimri, who played Alicia Sierra, as part of the cast.

Berlin is a prequel series, telling the story of a past heist Berlin pulled off in Paris before he became involved with the Money Heist crew. 

With Berlin believing only two things can turn around a bad day — love and a million dollar payday — he plans to acquire the latter by robbing $44 million dollars worth of jewels from a Paris auction house in one night. However, love also looks like it is going to have a role to play, as Berlin forms feelings for the ex-wife of Polignac.

Heist 88 cast

As already mentioned, Heist 88 is led by actor Courtney B. Vance, who also serves as an executive producer of the movie alongside his wife Angela Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever). Vance is a two-time Emmy winner, having been recognized for his roles in American Crime Story and Lovecraft Country. He’s recently starred in 61st Street season 1 and 61st Street season 2. 

Also starring in Heist 88 are Keesha Sharp and Keith David. Sharp is perhaps best known for her roles in Girlfriends, Lethal Weapon (the series) and recently, Power Book II: Ghost. David is a three-time Emmy winner, receiving his awards for his voiceover and narration work, and he’s been seen onscreen in Greenleaf. Additionally, he appears in the upcoming movie, American Fiction. 

Helping to round out the main cast are Xavier Clyde (City on Fire), Bentley Green (White Men Can’t Jump), Nican Robinson (Ahsoka) and Precious Way (Queens).

Menhaj Huda took to the director’s chair for Heist 88. Huda has previously directed episodes of The Flash, Charmed, Queer as Folk as well as other projects. 

We've reached the penultimate episode of Jack Ryan season 4 and it's by far the most action-packed episode yet with plenty of fight scenes but also betrayals, important deaths and a lot more.

By now, Jack Ryan (John Krasinski) and co. have figured out the conspiracy that links the Mexican cartel, the Burmese Triad and people in government in Washington D.C., but they still need to stop the various villains shipping dangerous packages into the States.

Episode 5 of Jack Ryan season 4 is the penultimate of the Prime Video show as a whole, so the stakes couldn't be higher, making each fight scene even more nail-biting and tense. And if you meet the Jack Ryan season 4 cast you'll understand that most of the important characters from the previous seasons are all present and accounted for, including some new faces, and none are immortal.

Given how close we are to the end, Jack Ryan season 4 episode 5 has as many plot points shot out as it does bullets, so in case you missed anything we'll run you through what happened — not all presented in order though, as to make things clear we've presented each storyline together and not spread out like they are in the show.

Everyone's heading to Myanmar

Everyone's heading to Myanmar for episode 5: Chao Fah Sein (Louis Ozawa) and Zeyara Lemos (Zuleikha Robinson) arrive in one plane, and the latter also meets Cathy Mueller (Abbie Cornish) when she lands to do aid work. Separately, Ryan shows up with Mike November (Michael Kelly) and Domingo Chavez (Michael Pena).

November goes to the casino and makes contact with Fah, who then visits them in a hotel room. He reveals that there are far more than five triggers (explained in episode 4), but they're all in the vault of the Casino, and the four plot a heist to break in and destroy them. Fah also explains what the triggers do: anything! They can be linked to any device like a bomb or explosive to set it off from anywhere.

Lemos shows Mueller around the country, but then kidnaps the woman — turns out, she only brought Mueller over as insurance against Ryan. Fah tells Ryan this separately. Lemos also calls Marquez in Mexico, telling him to expedite the shipping of the five packages into the US at any cost.

Tin Tun (Jim Lau) is also active, and he investigates Fah's story that his child Bennu was sick by interrogating the kid and then killing the doctor to get to the bottom of it. He kidnaps the child as well as Fah's wife Kyi.

An action-packed day

Ryan, November and Chavez break into the casino and manage to get into the vault by following the plan. As November steals a helicopter from the roof, Chavez and Ryan send Lemos a video of them planting bombs on the triggers and threatening Fah (who Lemos doesn't know is working against her), and demands Cathy back or they'll kill him and blow up the devices.

Lemos tries to escape her base but November uses the helicopter to blow up some of the cars in the convoy, and in the confusion, Mueller escapes and is rescued.

After the casino heist, the quartet stops at Fah's house to rescue his family. They get out okay, but Tun shoots Fah with a sniper rifle, so Ryan and Chavez only escape with Bennu and Kyi. As Tun comes to the house to finish off Fah, the latter man uses the one trigger they've still got, and it sets off both the explosives in the vault (destroying the other triggers) and some explosives in the house, destroying it and killing both men.

Ryan, Chavez, Bennu and Kyi meet November and Mueller at an airfield, where they get the two women and child onto the plane, however Lemos sends lots of soldiers after them. The plane gets away as Chavez, Ryan, and November stay behind to hold off the soldiers, and then the trio escapes in the helicopter.

The trio doesn't get too far though, as a bullet hits the fuel tank, so they only get to Thailand before having to set down. The soldiers catch up with them, and one of them shoots and injures November — but a different group of soldiers shows up on the beach and the previous ones run away (more on that later). This new group kidnaps Ryan. 

Greer and Wright get close to their answers

Not everyone is in Myanmar, and James Greer (Wendell Pierce) is in Maryland, recovering from his stab wound in episode 4. He's not resting though, and he calls up his estranged son to get involved and drive him about the place. Greer does have a name at least, from the knife he was stabbed with: he's looking for one William James Tuttle.

CIA Director Wright (Betty Gabriel) calls Greer, and he chastises her for not taking more action, so she jumps into gear. She investigates Dominic Sanderson (who we already know the truth about, from earlier episodes) but stumbles onto an extra piece of information: Sanderson was friends with Wright's new pal Adebayo Osoji (Okieriete Onaodowan), who is the missing link they've been searching for in the conspiracy.

While Greer finds an address for Tuttle, Wright tells her that Ade is the owner of the shell companies, and he's the person who was directing Thomas Miller as well as Tuttle. Both head to Tuttle's house, and on the way, Greer gets a call from Ryan (shortly before his kidnapping, of course) telling him to look after Cathy and Fah's family, and that while the triggers are destroyed, there are still five packages in the wind.

Ade gets a call from Lemos while he's at dinner, and she tells him to "call your man", presumably referring to Tuttle.

Greer breaks into Tuttle's house with help from armed police, and after a brief firefight they capture him. From his computers, we see that he's been the person leading the new assault on Ryan.

It’s the day of the heist and organiser Grace Black (Tamara Wall) realises she could be in over her head in tonight’s Hollyoaks on at 6.30pm (See our TV Guide for full listings). 

Grace and her accomplices, Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring), Zara Morgan (Kelly Condron) and getaway driver, Damon Kinsella (Jacob Roberts), know what they have to do and as the heist begins everything seems to be going smoothly.

However, things take a sudden turn for the worse when a suspicious Zara puts Grace on the spot and asks if she’s secretly planning to double-cross them all! 

How will Grace, who has definitely been acting a little strangely, respond?

Meanwhile, Cindy, who has recently decided to stop taking her bipolar medication, is also acting very erratically. 

As things come to a head, is the heist about to veer terribly off course?  And could things take an alarming turn for the three women who are in disguise as funeral mourners? 

Elsewhere, Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) has some explaining to do after receiving a secret gift from Lord Rafe (Chris Gordon) which Ethan (Matthew James-Bailey) found hidden down the side of the sofa.

Sienna tries to reassure Ethan that he has nothing to worry about.

However, later on things take a step backwards when Rafe says maybe they should cool things off and he’s then spotted taking a mysterious phone call. 

Both Ethan and Sienna are rattled when they hear Rafe calling someone ‘darling’ on the call. 

Suddenly they have a new mission, they need to find out who the mystery woman is. 

Plus, Lizzie Chen-Williams (Lily Best) and her sister Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson) are worried about their brother, Sam (Matthew McGivern).

They call in their dad, Dave (Dominic Power) for help, however Dave’s idea of helping Sam is to invite his struggling son, Sam, for a night out at a strip bar! 

Maxine decides this is a terrible idea and instead recruits Scott Drinkwell (Ross Adams) to keep Sam occupied down at the local park. 

However Sam realises what’s going on and angrily tells Scott he doesn’t need to be babysat! 

But Maxine is determined to keep Sam busy and has another plan.

She reminds Sam how much he used to enjoy training and encourages him to play a bit of football with the kids, Minnie and Miley.

Finally Sam seems to be a bit happier.

Can he take his mind off his ex, Zoe Anderson (Garcia Brown) and her upcoming planned termination?

Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring) is forging ahead with her plan to hold up a bank van in tonight’s Hollyoaks on at 6.30pm (See our TV Guide for full listings).

Cindy, who has been desperate for cash ever since the destruction of her uninsured business, has been plotting the robbery for weeks. 

Tonight, in preparation for the heist she drags her accomplices, Damon Kinsella (Jacob Roberts) and Zara Morgan (Kelly Condron) out with her to steal some traffic cones so that they have them ready for the job! 

Little does she realise, Damon and Zara are planning to foil the heist, convinced that Cindy is going to land herself in a whole heap of trouble. 

Elsewhere, after their bust-up earlier in the week, Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) extends an olive branch to his friend and business partner, Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood). 

However, Felix wants to know why Sharon Bailey (Jamelia) turned up to the garage with Warren.

Warren tries to break the obvious tension, but a wound-up Felix is not in the mood to listen and it’s clear he’s gunning for another fight. 

Later on, Felix opens up to his girlfriend (Mercedes McQueen) and admits he’s in huge emotional pain knowing that his son, DeMarcus (Tomi Ade) is moving to America. 

Mercedes is concerned and asks him if there’s anything else bothering him. 

However, just as Felix is about to reveal more, he and Mercedes are interrupted by a call. 

Later, things between Felix and Warren escalate when Felix gets home and is shocked by what he finds! 

Elsewhere, scheming Ethan Williams (Matthew James-Bailey) is determined to befriend Lord Rafe (Chris Gordon) and get an invite to the clay pigeon shoot that Rafe has asked Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) and Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) to join him on. 

When Ethan swoops in and helps Rafe with a flat tyre, it seems he’s got his invite!   

Plus, Romeo Nightingale (Owen Warner) is determined to follow through with his little sister, Juliet Nightingale’s (Niamh Blackshaw) wishes and organise her funeral just how she planned it. 

Romeo reaches out to his mum, Donna-Marie Quinn (Lucy-Jo Hudson) for help. 

However Donna-Marie tells him she’s not strong enough and too broken to be of any use right now.

Struggling to manage things all by himself, Romeo takes up his girlfriend, Rayne Royce’s (Jemma Donovan) offer to help him out. 

Can they both do Juliet proud and honour her dying wishes?

Bling Ring: Hollywood Heist will lift the lid on one of the most infamous crime sprees of the internet age in a three-part miniseries. 

Between October 2008 and August 2009 a wave of burglaries took place in some of the richest suburbs of LA, rocking Hollywood to its core. Dubbed the "Bling Ring" by reporters, the thieves raked in over $3m worth of cash, art, designer goods and jewelry from A-List celebrities. 

Since the crimes took place there has been a reality series and a Hollywood movie made about what happened — but the truth about the Bling Ring burglaries has never been told…until now. 

More than 10 years after the notorious heists, the culprits have served their jail time and are coming forward to tell the real story behind the Hollywood Hills home invasions that gripped the nation. 

A cautionary tale for teens today, the docuseries shows what can happen when a fame-and-celebrity-obsessed culture meets the rise of social media and spins wildly out of control.

Larry Walford, Creative Director at Double Act Productions says:  "This series will also have a tantalizing take on popular culture at a time when reality tv, the paparazzi and social media conspired to create a new type of celebrity."

What happens in Bling Ring: Hollywood Heist?

From 2008 to 2009 a group of teens robbed the LA homes of high-profile celebs including Paris Hilton and Orlando Bloom. They used celebrity gossip websites to determine when the stars would be out and pocketed £2.3 million of stolen goods.

The series will see original gang members Nick Prugo and Alexis Neiers explain what drew them to commit their crimes — and reveal where they are now and how their lives have changed. "Paris Hilton was our personal ATM," says Nick, explaining how the robberies funded their own lifestyles.

There will also be interviews with law enforcement and other experts to tell the definitive story of the first major crime spree of the social media age which become so infamous that it inspired a movie starring Emma Watson.

Which celebrities were targeted in the crimes? 

Celebrities targeted by the gang include Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, Audrina Patridge and Lindsay Lohan who all lost jewelry, watches, purses and shoes in the heists. 

The culprits were eventually revealed to be a group of middle-class suburban teenagers who planned their heists based on paparazzi sites and social media posts which revealed when their famous victims would be away from their homes.

The documentary also features interviews with Alexis Haines (Neiers), Nick Norgo (Prugo), Andrea Arlington-Dunne, Gabrielle Hames, Audrina Patridge and Perez Hilton.

Zahra Ahmadi has been enjoying a homecoming of sorts with her latest role. As DS Esther Williams in the Death in Paradise spin-off Beyond Paradise, set in the fictional Devon town of Shipton Abbott, the Plymouth-born star has been filming all around the area where she grew up — and she's delighted to be back!

Wondering what the Kaleidoscope best order is? The new hit Netflix show encourages you to watch its eight episodes in any order, letting you introduce some chaos into your TV viewing.

Kaleidoscope is a heist TV show that's been written to make sense in whichever order you view the episodes in — in fact, when you press "play", it'll shuffle the episodes so you don't even have to choose.

Due to the nature of this format, there can be some confusion about the show, and that's why we have a Kaleidoscope ending explainer as well as a guide to the Kaleidoscope cast to help you get your head around the events and characters of the show.

The show tells the story of a heist crew conducting a heist, with all the planning and complications that usually ensue in these stories, and it stars Giancarlo Esposito and Rufus Sewell.

This isn't the first time Netflix has played with this concept, as the first season of the sci-fi show Love Death and Robots played in shuffle mode too, but that was an anthology so Kaleidoscope takes the premise to a new level as its episodes all explore one story.

While you can simply press play on Kaleidoscope and see the episodes in any order (except White, the heist episode, which always plays last), there are some better and some worse ways you can watch the show.

If you don't want to leave fate to chance, here are a few particular orders you might want to consider instead.

1. Watch Kaleidoscope in chronological order

1. Violet

Why not just watch the heist in Kaleidoscope in the order it happens?

This isn't Netflix's optimal viewing order, as the streaming service always defaults to ending on heist episode White, but it's the one that makes the most sense, ditching any fancy narrative features in favor of a good old-fashioned chronological order.

Violet takes place 24 years before the heist, with time quickly progressing up to White, with Red and Pink showing the aftermath of the heist. So you can see the character's motivations and backstories before we get to the current time.

That means you won't keep asking "why did they do that?" if you're watching future-set episodes first, though you'll be missing out on some fun intrigue. Or, if you want to be truly baffled the whole time, you could watch all the episodes in backward order, like a confusing Tenet rerun.

2. Watch Kaleidoscope in Netflix's best order

1. Orange
2. Green
3. Violet
4. Red
5. Yellow
6. Blue
7. White
8. Pink

Netflix itself Tweeted some viewing orders for Kaleidoscope, and as well as a few bizarre ones based on its own properties (like Orange is the New Black), it has one great one called "Kaleidoscope as a classic detective story". 

This order works around the time jumps that the show has been written around, but fits the story into a more familiar narrative structure which makes it easier to watch.

That means you get to watch some of the heist prep, then some of the backstory, then more of the prep, then the heist, followed by a denouement with the six-months-later episode last.

3. Watch Kaleidoscope in the What to Watch order

1. Pink
2. Yellow
3. Orange
4. Green
5. Blue
6. Violet
7. Red
8. White

So you've heard from Netflix and you've heard from time, but now it's time for What to Watch's optimal order.

Our first two order suggestions drop White near the end, but since Netflix always puts it dead last when you shuffle the episodes, so this order is based around keeping White in the last slot too.

We start with Pink, six months after the heist —  beginning with each character's fate adds an extra layer of tragedy and inevitability to the proceeding events. If Titanic did it, we can too.

Then we go back in time with the build-up to the heist — Yellow, Orange and Blue all show us the gang getting ready to steal the money. These are broken up with Green and Violet, with the back-story episodes sprinkled in to ensure they don't break up the building tension too much.

Finding a place for Red is the hardest task, as the morning-after episode spoils a lot of the heist, but by treating White and Red as a two-parter and playing the second part first, the tension and intrigue as to what actually happened in White are built up.

If you don't need to end on White, you can swap it and Red around to create a more coherent two-part finale — or, for a dose of anarchy, you can play it first. This is a narrative tool called 'in medias res', which starts a story in the middle of the action.

4. Watch Kaleidoscope in the worst order

1. White
2. Red
3. Pink
4. Blue
5. Orange
6. Yellow
7. Green
8. Violet

So you don't want to take our advice and watch Kaleidoscope in our picks for the best possible order. Well, at the very least, don't watch it in this order.

There's a reason Netflix ends Kaleidoscope on White if you play in shuffle — if you start on it, you spend 40 minutes quite confused. Trust us, we decided to be contrarians by starting here, and we regret it.

Starting on White is never the way to go — not only does the crew's solutions to each issue in the heist seem totally random and confusing, but none of the characters' personal decisions make any sense either, with people jeopardising the heist for seemingly no reason. Plus, the whole segments with Roger Salas and Hannah Kim seem pulled out of thin air.

After that, in this terrible order, we've decided to just continue with the chain of events. You're spending even more time with these characters without understanding any of them, and without getting any of the backstory that justifies their actions. They all end up seeming like idiots.

Once we've passed Pink, the last episode chronologically, we go to Blue, the episode before the heist, and work backwards chronologically from there. Each subsequent episode takes place before the previous one.

Why? Just to make this viewing order as confusing as possible. There's a reason why it's the 'worst' viewing order, after all.

So you've finished watching Kaleidoscope, the Netflix series that can be watched in any order (not finished the show? Spoilers abound!). But what does it all mean?

Since Kaleidoscope plays out in different orders for different viewers, with Netflix effectively playing all but one of the episodes in shuffle mode ('White' always plays last), some viewers might be confused about what actually happens. 

Sure, we've got a guide on the Kaleidoscope best order, but if you see a character die in the first episode you watch, you might have forgotten about it eight episodes later when you reach the finale.

Now that you've met the Kaleidoscope cast you might be interested in confirming their fates, and understanding what actually happened in the heist. Read on as we answer your questions about the TV show.

The biggest TV show of 2023 so far is undeniably Kaleidoscope — the new Netflix heist show, released on New Year's Day, quickly jumped up to the top spot in the streaming service's most-viewed lists in many regions.

Kaleidoscope's gimmick is that, beyond being your average heist show, you can watch its episodes in any order and the story will still make sense. While we do have a guide on the best Kaleidoscope order here, you've got lots of freedom in how you enjoy the show.

One side-effect of this, though, is that you might meet the cast of the heist in a different order to another viewer, and so you might be confused about who's who. The character's backstory might end up happening in the final episode for you.

Giancarlo Esposito as Leo Pap

Leo Pap — or Ray Vernon, the character's real name — is ostensibly the leader of the heist crew, with many of the other characters working for him. He has a bone to pick with Salas, his long-time rival, making this score personal.

You may recognize Esposito, as he's one of the most famous members of the cast. Arguably his biggest role is as drug lord Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul but he's touched many other big franchises too — he's been in The Mandalorian, The Boys, Westworld and Community.

Esposito frequently plays the villain, making his role as a main character here a nice change. Well, if you can call someone stealing millions of dollars a "hero".

Rufus Sewell as Roger Salas

Leo Pap's nemesis is Roger Salas, his ex-partner who now runs a security firm that's working to prevent the heist — you can see why they're not friends anymore! However, even though Salas is now on the side of the law, that doesn't mean he acts lawfully, making him a dangerous adversary.

Salas is played by Rufus Sewell, a British actor who shares his initials with his character. Sewell is prolific, both on stage and screen, and you may recognize him from recurring roles in TV shows The Man in the High Castle, Eleventh Hour or The Pillars of the Earth, or roles in movies like The Father, Old and Judy.

Paz Vega as Ava Mercer

One of the members of Pap's crew, Ava Mercer is the team's weapons expert but also works as a lawyer outside of the team — her wardrobe evidently contains bulletproof suits as well as lawsuits.

Paz Vega is a popular Spanish actress, and lots of her performances, like recurring roles in TV shows 7 vidas, La Hermandad or the Spanish variation of The Masked Singer, are in her native country and language.

However she's acted in some English-language films too including Rambo: Last Blood, Kill The Messenger and Madagascar 3.

Rosaline Elbay as Judy Goodwin

Every good heist needs some explosions, and in Kaleidoscope, Judy Goodwin is the person to make that happen, acting as the explosives expert for Pap's crew.

Egyptian-born Elbay doesn't have as many credited roles as her co-stars, and her biggest role for western audiences will be a recurring role in Hulu original Ramy. She's also a screenwriter.

Jai Courney as Bob Goodwin

As well as an explosives expert, most heists need a safe cracked too, and that job falls to Bob Goodwin. Yes, as the name suggests, he's married to Judy Goodwin.

Likely a familiar face to many, Australian Jai Courtney is a pretty prolific Hollywood staple, with major roles in Suicide Squad, The Suicide Squad, Divergent, Terminator Genisys, Jack Reacher and A Good Day to Die Hard, as well as many other movies. He's not as prolific in the TV space, with Kaleidoscope marking his largest number of episodes in a single show in over a decade.

Tati Gabrielle as Hannah Kim

Hannah Kim marks a major complication in Leo Pap's heist. She's his daughter, but she also works for for Salas, as she's the head of digital security at his firm. So is she a potential ally or Pap's worst enemy? Watch and find out!

Gabrielle will be recognized by fans of The 100, as she acted in many episodes of the popular sci-fi show, but she's also been in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, You season 3 and Uncharted.

Peter Mark Kendall as Stan Loomis

One of Pap's oldest allies in the crew (y'know, apart from his rival and daughter, who are both now against him), Loomis is a smuggler who used to share a jail cell with Pap, and now works as part of the crew.

Kendall is primarily a television actor, with major roles in Strange Angel and Chicago Med, but smaller parts in Gothan, The Americans, The Leftovers and more. Saying that, he's been in a few movies, most recently Top Gun: Maverick playing an engineer in the first scene who helps Tom Cruise's Maverick test the Mach 10 jet.

Money Heist Korea is based on the hit Spanish crime drama series Money Heist. But who's in the cast, and where might you have seen them before?

The new series follows the same format as the original Money Heist, where we'll see a group of robbers led by the Professor who will try to pull off an elaborate heist without getting caught.

Yoo Ji-Tae as The Professor

Yoo Ji-Tae plays the leader of the heist, whose codename is The Professor. He is "a strategist criminal mastermind," and plans to pull off a heist in the Korean Peninsula inspired by those in Spain. 

He's perhaps most well known for his role in Park Chan-wook's Oldboy and has also starred in The Good Wife, When My Love Blooms and Lady Vengeance. 

Park Hae-soo as Berlin 

Park Hae-soo is heist member Berlin, and you'll most likely remember him from hit Netflix series Squid Game, where he played the role of Cho Sang-woo. He has also starred in The Pirates, Yaksha: Ruthless Operations and The Legend of the Blue Sea. 

A spin-off series about the original Berlin character (played by Pedro Alonso) is currently in the works and is set to land on Netflix in 2023.

 Jun Jong-Seo as Tokyo

Jun Jong-Seo is Tokyo in Money Heist Korea and is best known for her role as Hae-mi in the acclaimed South Korean thriller Burning, where she starred alongside Steven Yeun.

She has also starred in The Call, where she won Best Actress at the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards, and American fantasy film Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon.

Lee Won-Jong as Moscow

Lee Won-Jong is well known in the Korean entertainment industry and plays Moscow in Netflix's Money Heist Korea. He has won multiple Seoul Broadcasting System and Korean Broadcasting System awards throughout his career.

He has starred in programs and films such as Emperor of the Sea, Delayed Justice and The Accidental Gangster and the Mistaken Courtesan.

 Jang Yoon-Ju as Nairobi

 Jang Yoon-Ju takes on the role of Nairobi in Money Heist Korea, and as well as being an actress she is also a successful fashion model with a career spanning almost two decades.

She was a host and judge on Korea's Next Top Model, was the subject of her own program called Springtime with Yoon-ju and played the role of Miss Bong in the 2015 film Veteran.

Lee Jang-Woo as Rio

Lee Jang-Woo is a South Korean actor and singer, playing the role of Rio in Money Heist Korea. He is best known for roles in the television series Glory Jane, I Do I Do, My Only One and Homemade Love Story.

Fans might also recognize him for music videos such as JeA and G.O's Because You Sting and Zia's The Way I Am, as well as the film Villain and Widow where he played Constable Oh.

Kim Ji-hoon as Helsinki

Kim Ji-hoon's best known for his romantic comedies, but he's switching things up to play Helsinki in Money Heist Korea. He's had roles in The Golden Age of Daughters-in-Law, Love Marriage and Stars Falling from the Sky.

Ji-hoon is also big on the music scene, having appeared in music videos such as Shinhwa's Wedding and Eunhyul's Because I Want To Hold On.

Lee Kyu-Ho as Oslo

Completing the heist line-up, Lee Kyu-Ho plays Oslo and has previously starred in various Korean TV shows and films such as The Outlaws, The Good Detective and Tazza: One Eyed Jack. 

He has 16 acting credits in total, with Money Heist Korea being his most recent one where he's part of the heist conducted by The Professor.

Money Heist Korea is the latest Korean drama to hit Netflix, and it's inspired by the original Spanish series Money Heist.

Korean dramas have been a huge success for Netflix in recent months, with Squid Game becoming a global hit among viewers, and shows like Hellbound and The Dead Don't Die also doing well for the streaming service.

Squid Game actor Park Hae-soo will star in Money Heist Korea as Berlin and said at Netflix's TUDUM event: "As an actor and as a fan of the series, I want to thank the cast and crew of Money Heist for the great series they have created. We are looking forward to sharing the Korean version of Money Heist with you in 2022."

Money Heist will be released in two installments. The first half of season 1 is currently scheduled to arrive on Netflix on June 24, but it hasn't been confirmed when the second half will be released.

There will be 12 episodes in total for season 1, with a second season yet to be confirmed by Netflix.

Essentially, Money Heist Korea will follow the same format as the original Money Heist series, where we'll see a group of robbers led by the Professor who will try to pull off an elaborate heist without getting caught. But since it's set in a different country, there are some differences.

For example, the series will focus on Korea’s socio-economic conflict between both sides of the border, hence the title Joint Economic Area. This is the name of the fictional region where the border between North and South is in the real world.

Leverage: Redemption managed to steal enough hearts for the sequel series to the fan-favorite TNT original series to land a season 2 renewal from IMDb TV, the free, ad-supported streaming service. There’s no word yet, however, on when fans can expect the Leverage team to get back on the job.

Leverage debuted on TNT in 2008 and ran for five seasons. Leverage: Redemption brought back most of the original cast, including Gina Bellman, Beth Riesgraf, Christian Kane and Aldis Hodge (though he only appeared in three episodes), while also adding new members to the team, including Noah Wyle’s Harry Wilson and Aleyse Shannon as Breanna Casey. The mission remained the same though, with the team working to bring down the rich and powerful from taking what they want and squashing anyone who may get in their way.

Leverage: Redemption season one featured 16 episodes, split in half and debuting in July and October of 2021, respectively. The entire first season of Leverage: Redemption can be streamed on IMDb TV right now, as well as the full five seasons of Leverage. Money Heist might be coming to an end as the final installment of season five launches on Netflix this week, but there's good news for fans as a spin-off series focusing on Andrés 'Berlin' de Fonollosa is coming to Netflix in 2023.

The character of Berlin has become popular among viewers, known for his charming personality and sarcastic sense of humour, but he also has a much darker side which makes him an excellent jewel thief. It is believed his character has 27 successful heists to his name.

And now, the character is set to get his own show, which is currently in development and will be arriving on Netflix in just over a year's time. 

Speaking to TV Line and other press about the spin-off, Berlin actor Pedro Alonso said: "I'm so happy about it. I am deeply grateful to be able to connect with people all over the world and receive so much love and such a memorable time. 

"We started this series walking into the unknown and we have been winning ever since. You fans are our accomplices and thank you for that."

**Money Heist spoilers ahead**

In the original Money Heist series, Berlin died after being shot multiple times by a S.W.A.T team, and in Part 2 of the acclaimed series, he sacrifices himself in order to give the other robbers time to escape. He also had a fatal disease named Helmer’s Myopathy, which he was diagnosed with prior to the events of the series, so his ill-health could have been one of the reasons he chose to give up his own life.

Berlin shows up in flashbacks later on in the series, but this spin-off will give fans a deeper look at his character and could potentially be a prequel to Money Heist given that Berlin is already dead. Having said that, he could continue to appear in flashbacks as he has been in recent series - the format remains to be seen. 

Speaking about the global fan support for Berlin, Pedro Alonso added: "It is really amazing this feeling knowing that people all over the world have favourite characters and favourite quotes. This is demanding work but it is worth it because of the fans."

Netflix is getting ready to roll out the final episodes of Money Heist, the Spanish-produced crime drama that has garnered an international audience on the streaming service.

While American-made shows like Stranger Things, House of Cards and Ozark are some of Netflix’s most popular and well-reviewed shows, the streaming service has a long history with series from different places around the world. The first original series to launch on Netflix was actually Lilyhammer in 2012 from Norway. Money Heist has continued and helped grow that tradition.

With that being said, ahead of the anticipated release of the series final season, here is everything we know about Money Heist: Part 5.

What is the ‘Money Heist’ plot?

The Professor, a criminal mastermind, brings together a group of criminals with the goal of committing the biggest robbery in Spanish history — stealing 2.4 billion euros from the Royal Mint of Spain. To pull this off, the thieves lock themselves in the Royal Mint with hostages while the Professor attempts to manipulate the police. Of course, things go wrong.

Money Heist: Part 5 takes place as the situation has gone from bad to worse. The Professor has been taken hostage and the team at the Royal Mint will soon have to contend with the military as they try to escape.

When is the ‘Money Heist: Part 5’ release date?

Money Heist: Part 5 is going to be an epic conclusion to the series, and it’s a sure bet that fans are going to be on pins and needles to find out all that happens, especially considering the season is being split into two volumes.

Money Heist: Part 5 Vol. 1 hit the streaming service on Sept. 3, with five episodes immediately available for Netflix subscribers to watch. Money Heist: Part 5 Vol. 2 will contain the remaining five episodes of the final season and will be released three months later on Dec. 3.

Netflix followed this same strategy with another one of its recent hits, Lupin. It seems to be their way of keeping fans engaged with shows for longer than the binge sessions they often had in the past. 

Other streamers have taken different approaches to curb binging and increase engagement, most notably with weekly episode releases for Hulu, Disney Plus and Apple TV Plus shows.

What language is ‘Money Heist’ in?

As mentioned above, Money Heist is a Spanish-produced TV series that Netflix offers to additional regions. Therefore, its original language is Spanish. Of course, if you don’t speak Spanish, subtitles are available in English, French, simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese and European Spanish.

If subtitles aren’t your thing, the episodes are also dubbed in English, Germany, French and Italian. Just be prepared for the dubbing and the actors’ mouths being constantly off.

For any viewers who require audio descriptions to watch content, Netflix has audio description in both English and European Spanish.

How to watch ‘Money Heist: Part 5 Vol. 2’

Ever since Netflix acquired the rights to Money Heist in 2017 after its debut on Spain’s Antena 3 network, the streaming giant has been the only place to watch all the action unfold. That will again be the case for Money Heist: Part 5 Vol. 1 and Money Heist: Part 5 Vol. 2.

If you are not one of Netflix’s more than 200 million subscribers across the globe, you will need to sign up for the streaming service to start watching Money Heist. The base subscription is available at $13.99 per month, but add-ons can be applied for more features, like 4K capability at an increased monthly price.

Watching the Money Heist: Part 5 trailer, it looks like we’re going to be getting a final season of the crime series that is as big and jam-packed as any movie. In fact, the final season is so big that it has to be broken up in two, and this trailer is just for Money Heist: Part 5 Vol. 1.

Money Heist, which is a Spanish-made TV series (original title La Casa de Papel), is about a group of thieves brought together to try and pull off the biggest robbery in Spanish history — 2.4 billion euros from the Royal Mint of Spain. However, things quickly unravel as they face pressure from law enforcement as well as internal issues.

As the trailer shows, this includes the Professor, the mastermind behind the job, being taken hostage and the army descending upon the team. As said in the trailer, they have no plan and no hope, but they’re going to go out swinging.

One thing to note before watching the trailer. Because Money Heist has become an international sensation, not all of the fans speak Spanish. So the trailer that was released for Netflix, at least for U.S. audiences, features some so-so English dubbing. When Money Heist: Part 5 Vol. 1 debuts on Netflix, viewers will have the option to watch it dubbed in English, its original Spanish or a few other languages as well.

Money Heist: Part 5 Vol. 2 will hit Netflix on Dec. 3.

Netflix has had some success with international shows becoming hits across its platform of more than 200 million subscribers. A recent example is Lupin, which is slated to return for a third season, most likely sometime in 2022.

The international sensation Money Heist hopes to go out with a bang when its fifth and final season debuts, which Netflix has officially announced will debut this fall in two volumes. Volume 1 of Money Heist: Part 5 is set to hit the streamer on Sept. 3, 2021, and Volume 2 will premiere three months later on Dec. 3.

The date announcement from Netflix came via a teaser trailer that shows members of the team under duress from all sides before coming together for a group hero pose, then fading out as explosions go off around them.

Money Heist: Part 5 Volume 1 will premiere on Netflix on Sept. 3, 2021. Volume 2 will debut on Dec. 3, 2021.

Daniel Dae Kim and Randall Park starred as Ali Wong’s love interests in Always Be My Maybe, and now the duo is set to star in a heist movie together for Amazon Studios.

The film still doesn’t have a title, but it’s being written by screenwriter Young Il Kim who has worked on both Showtime’s Billions as well as The Blacklist, Deadline reports. Several studios and streaming services were reportedly interested in the film, but Amazon Studios managed to get the rights.

The actual plot of the movie has yet to be released, but it’s expected to be loosely based on a group of high school friends that get together. The original idea came from an idea Kim, Park and 3AD’s Head of Development John Cheng came up with.

3AD is a film and production company created by Daniel Day Kim in 2013  that is committed to telling stories and featuring characters from cultures that are typically underrepresented. The company is behind The Good Doctor and currently has a first-look offer in place with Amazon.

“We love heist movies,” Kim told Deadline. “We want to be inclusive and we feel like there’s a story here to be told. It’s super exciting… Randall and I have wanted to do something together for a while. This is just a great reason to bring together talented actors who have been friends for a really long time and really have fun on a project that, with any luck, will be able to make an impact.”

No word yet on when the film is expected to be released, or you know, what it will be called, but we'll be keeping an eye out.

Netflix today announced that the epic series La Casa de Papel (that's "The Paper House" in Spanish, but the series is known as Money Heist in the United States) will come to a conclusion with a fifth and final season. Or "Part 5," if you will.

Production on the final 10-episode journey will begin on Aug. 3. No word on when to expect release, but sometime in 2021 is a pretty good bet.

The series started its life with the story of the perfect robbery of the Royal Mint of Spain. It wasn't a quick smash-and-grab job, though, and things quickly started to go bad for just about everybody. Led by "The Professor," the gang found itself not just facing off against the police, but also against itself. 

The series — the brainchild of Alex Pina, who also helmed the excellent White Lines on Netflix — has had a large ensemble cast throughout its run, which began in May 2017 on Spanish network Antena 3. It made the leap to Netflix in December of that year, and Part 4 was released in April 2020.

The characters all go by nicknames in the series. (Because criminals need nicknames as to not be exposed, right?) Somewhere in Northumberland, thieves have broken into a bank and made off with £1 million. Don't panic: it's all for Sky One's The Heist. But, as detectives Sue Hill and Ray Howard reveal, they won't rest until the criminals have been brought to justice...

Following the hugely popular first series in 2018, high-stakes reality show The Heist returns to Sky One in February.

This time round, the action takes place in the sleepy market town of Alnwick, nestled in the heart of historic Northumberland, where nine ordinary members of the local community are planning an audacious Hatton Garden-style bank job to steal £1 million.

If they can successfully steal the cash from the Bank of Northumbria, and keep it hidden for 20 days, it’s theirs to keep. But as news of this major crime sweeps the town, Detective Chief Superintendent Sue Hill and Detective Superintendent Ray Howard lead a team of Britain’s best detectives, who'll stop at nothing to track down the thieves and recover the money.

With the investigation gathering momentum, we arrive in Alnwick to chat to Sue and Ray to find out if they are any closer in bringing the criminals to justice in The Heist series two...

What makes a town like Alnwick the perfect place for a show like this?

Sue: "Well, I think it’s perfect because you’ve got a lovely community in a beautiful rural area and plenty of hiding places. And the people are very friendly and engaging. They want to take part and it's not so busy. So there's a whole… I don't know why Matt chose this place but I can see why he would. It’s pretty, it’s in a quaint market town, it’s quite quirky. It’s got everything… including a big bank burglary in Northumbria!"

What can you reveal about the crime that’s been committed?

Sue: "What we know is that a SUBSTANTIAL amount of money has been stolen. We know that on June 21st 2019 a number of suspects, at least eight, got into the Bank of Northumbria in the early hours of the morning. It was very much a copycat of the ambitious Hatton Garden heist, where they’ve planned it all out, gone in with power tools, drilled through the walls and left with this money."

We're in Alnwick on Day 11 of the investigation. Are things progressing well?

Sue: "We have a couple of lines of enquiry, we’ve got some fantastic leads and we are working on our intelligence as we speak. We have suspects, we've already made some arrests and we're hoping there will be more forthcoming."

What are the main challenges you’ve faced with the crime taking place in a small town like Alnwick?

Sue: "Well, the main problem for us is that these thieves know this area back to front – and we are soft southerners! We don't know the terrain. We don't know how boats operate up here for instance. We're trying to play catch up. They are in front of us because they've got a head start knowing the area and knowing the community. They know the hideouts. They know where to go. Stick them in the West End and they'd be lost! I know the West End inside out, just like they know their area inside out."

The case is being investigated in real time – but how does filming for TV compare to a real-life investigation?

Sue: "In our careers, Ray and I have run some of the biggest police enquiries you could in this country and now we're managing this investigation, which is equally as hard. We're both exhausted, we're tired and our brains are fried, just as they would be in a real investigation. Sometimes we might have to slow down and reset the cameras but the only real difference I’d say is that, here, the TV production team have to stop for dinner. In all my years as a police officer, I’ve NEVER stopped for lunch!" Ray: "For us it’s all still very, very real. The investigation is real, the people are real and the responses we're getting in interviews is all very, very real. Exactly what you'd expect from criminals in the real world. These thieves are playing a good game – so we've had to up our game, too!"

How badly do you want to catch these thieves?

Ray: "We have got a diverse team of experienced intelligence officers and detectives on this case and, for them, this is real. They want to win this. They are competitive. They've been at the top of their game, and they want to win. And you can't fake that." Sue: "The suspects we are arresting are not giving anything away. They’re not folding, they’re not confessing, they are making us work like you would in reality where nobody caves in and everybody says: ‘No comment’. They are pushing us and pushing us but we need to catch these people. There's a lot of money at stake here. And, not only that, we’ve got reputations to protect, too! I’d still have to go back and face all my old colleagues and say we couldn’t catch them." Ray: "We’re here to do a job. We will catch them if we can."

Why do you think TV viewers are so obsessed with cops and robbers?

Sue: "I think TV viewers are obsessed with crime full stop. I get asked all the time to talk about murders, I’ve just been asked to do a podcast on murder and other drama documentaries on murders – people are just obsessed with crime. With this show in particular, people would want to take part in something like this, because we all think we’d get away with it. Saying things like: ‘I know what I would do’. ‘I know where I’d put the money!’ What makes it gripping TV is that these people have tried to be really clever, really clever. They’ve researched and they ARE good. But I’m certain they’re not quite good enough…"

You’re both retired from the force now. What makes you want to do this?

Sue: "I’d hate to just sit on a sun-lounger somewhere. I do loads of charity work now and coming back here makes me realise how stressful it was being a copper and probably why I look so old now! I did 33 and a half years in the police force, always in operational roles, and I loved every minute." Ray: "I only retired last year and it's fantastic to use all the skills and the knowledge that I’d built up over 30 years and actually do something different. Getting to see how the production company puts everything together has been amazing to watch. It’s almost like there are two separate productions going on – one team for the cops and another team for the robbers – and the two never meet! Working on this show has been an absolutely privilege."

What do you most enjoy about working on a show like this?

Sue: "Working with Ray. We’re like the Ant & Dec of policing!" Ray: "And I would say working with Sue. Aside from that, it’s getting to that end where you think that’s a result, just like in the real police, knowing: ‘We’ve done it now’. All of the hard work and graft, it’s difficult, it’s gutsy. But when you finally get to charge people, it makes it all worthwhile."

If any of the robbers manage to successfully hide the money for 20 days they get to keep it. Isn’t that saying that crime DOES pay?

Sue: "No, I don’t think it’s saying that crime pays actually because we are going to do everything we can to make sure no one will ever say that." Ray: "We’ve got just 20 days to catch these thieves. That's the only bit where this is a game. In the real world, justice never sleeps. If they’re not caught, criminals like these WILL always be looking over their shoulder for the rest of their lives."
