Television’s biggest stars will be rolling out the glamour at London’s O2 Arena as the NTAs return live on Tuesday September 8. Expect dazzling gowns, sharp tuxedos and plenty of unforgettable moments as Joel Dommett once again hosts the glittering celebration of the nation’s favourite TV shows and stars. Every winner is decided by viewers, so the power is entirely in your hands!

This year we’ve been spoiled by some gripping dramas, so the New Drama award will be one of the night’s biggest battles, with A Woman Of Substance, Death Valley, The Other Bennet Sister, The Girlfriend, The War Between the Land & The Sea and Riot Women all vying against each other.

Meanwhile, the Returning Drama gong sees a slew of binge-watchable shows up for a gong, including Blue Lights, Grace, Death In Paradise, Call The Midwife, Shetland and The Night Manager. The top actors long-listed Drama Performance include Gary Oldman (Slow Horses), Holliday Grainger (The Capture), Sheridan Smith (The Cage) and Ruth Jones (The Other Bennet Sister), so it really is hard to pick a favourite!

It’s also been a bumper year for reality shows, with The Celebrity Traitors gaining a massive audience last October as mega-Traitor Alan Carr swept through the Faithfuls, but it will battling for votes with Love Island, The Apprentice and Race Across The World.

Sir David Attenborough marks his centenary year by scoring a rare ‘fivesome’ in the Factual Entertainment category, with Secret Garden, Parenthood, Kingdom, Wild London and A Gorilla Story all up for gongs. More heartfelt and inspiring stories compete for the Authored Documentary award with moving tributes in Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth and Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home.

There’s plenty of family fun leads for the Comedy gong, with Amandaland, Here We Go and Changing Ends all strong contenders.

The headline-hitting soap event of the year was of course January’s huge crossover episode Corriedale, so will either Coronation Street or Emmerdale take home the coveted Serial Drama accolade? Title holders EastEnders could give them a run for their soap money! Among the soap actors in line for the Serial Drama Performance are Paul Bradley (EastEnders), Joshua Richards (Emmerdale) and Sue Davaney (Corrie) plus Casualty stars Milo Clarke, William Beck and Melanie Hill.

Last year saw a major NTAs surprise as Gary Lineker finally broke Ant and Dec's 23-year winning streak for TV Presenter. Can the Geordie duo grab back their crown? Or could this be the year for Alison Hammond, Claudia Winkleman, Alan Carr, Bradley Walsh or Joel Dommett?

I’m a Celebrity... South Africa first aired in 2023, but the all-star spin-off has been off screens since, with ITV focusing on the main series in Australia. So as far as Sarah's aware, her gran Charity is carrying a baby for her and Jacob.

The wannabe mum, who's had a hysterectomy, is thrilled that she and her fiancé Jacob are set to become parents, thanks to Charity becoming their surrogate.

But what Sarah and Charity's husband Mack don't know is that Charity has had a regrettable one-night stand with Ross Barton and is horribly worried that it's his baby she's carrying.

Determined to keep up appearances and squash the toxic secret, Charity's carrying on the pretence, desperate not to let a shred of her panic show.

As Sarah's giddy excitement bubbles up, Mack picks up on Charity's strange response.

When they're alone, he asks his wife why she's trying to curb Sarah's enthusiasm given that she's about to give her granddaughter everything she's wanted.

April Windsor's life is about to plummet into a hellish reality.

With her now in Ray's grasp, she's unable to say no when he insists she heads out to do a drugs deal even though she's babysitting her brother Leo.

As she leaves the house, oblivious April drops a shady pill. Leo then swallows it and when April returns home, to her horror, her brother's being lifted into the back of an ambulance…

At the hospital, the problem escalates as the police and social services become involved.

Rhona suspects her stepdaughter who's about to confess all when she spots the coppers and flees.

Ray's dodgy drug dealing empire looks set to collapse when guilt-ridden April's overheard telling Dylan that they've got to tell the truth about what they've been doing.

How will Ray stop them from exposing his criminal ring?

Happy times at Dale View are about to get overshadowed by evil Mike.

Newlyweds Gabby and Vinny are having a summit with Mandy and Kim about Thomas' adoption.

Kim's worried that it will erase Thomas' biological dad, Jamie, further from the little boy's life.

But Vinny and Mandy are able to convince her otherwise and before long, happy toasts are being made about the blended family.

However, Vinny's high comes crashing down when Mike slithers into the village, demanding money to keep quiet about his secret.

Desperate not to ruin his set up and upset Gabby – who has no idea Vinny's been questioning his sexuality which then led him into the path of homophobic Mike – the Dingle tells Mike he'll trash the case if he keeps Gabby out of it.

Mike swallows it, leaving Vinny feeling secretly triumphant, knowing he's planning to do the exact opposite in court!

Elsewhere, given everything that Aaron's gone through lately, he's not on top of things and feels terrible when he forgets to recognise his late baby sister Grace's birthday.

At Butler's, Moira is furious when Celia makes a cruel joke at Paddy's expense about the dog attack he endured.

Moira insists that the ferocious farmer makes things right with the vet. Will Celia make amends with Paddy?

Having found out that his girlfriend April's now a bonafide drug dealer, Dylan is horrified and wants to put a stop to it.

But when he meets drug-boss Ray to make his case, Dylan ends up being manipulated further.

When Dylan begs him to let April off the hook and to cut her out of any dealing from now on, faux-friend Ray trots out another tall tale, promising to face the wrath of the scary 'big bosses' himself on their behalf.

He's got the teenagers over a barrel thanks to the fictional debt they're in after April was robbed of one of the drug consignments, unaware Ray set it all up.

Swallowing Ray's blackmail tactics, Dylan ends up backtracking and agreeing that April needs to carry on dealing to help pay off their debt.

With court case about homophobic catfish Mike looming, Vinny panics when his solicitor calls in and informs him that the defence plan to call Gabby as a witness.

Wanting to keep his horrific ordeal with Mike secret from his wife so she doesn't find out that he's been questioning his sexuality, Vinny decides he's no longer going to testify against the known offender.

Robert gets the shock of his life when he answers a knock at the door.

A man has been asking questions in the village and it turns out, he's looking for Robert.

But who is he and why has he come calling for the ex-con?

Making sure that no one has clocked his visitor, Robert ushers him inside where an enlightening conversation takes place.

Suffice to say that Robert knows the man from prison. Has he got a vendetta to settle with the Sugden or is there another matter on the agenda?

Vic reels when she returns home and walks into the living room to find her brother holding hands with a random stranger!

And when Robert manages to get rid of his uninvited guest Vic gives the third degree…

Will he tell his sister the truth? Can he keep Aaron from finding out?

Bethany is back in Weatherfield and heads straight to the police station in tonight’s episode of Coronation Street. Airs on Friday, 26th September at 8pm. See our TV Guide for full listings.

At the station, Kit’s led to an interview room where he finds Bethany.

Bethany explains how she quit her job in London, borrowed her boss’s car without permission and drove it up to Manchester and now finds herself accused of car theft. Can Kit help Bethany get out of trouble?

When Betsy announces that Becky’s coming for lunch, Carla forces a smile. But when Becky tries to steal a forkful of Lisa’s food off her plate, Carla’s discomfort is evident as she can't help but be reminded of their shared past.

Becky asserts that she just wants some normality, but, losing her temper, Carla tells her it’s quite obvious what she wants and it’s not normality. Telling Lisa and Becky they’re deluded, Carla stalks out.

Carla calls at the station and confides in Kit that she doesn’t believe Becky’s story and reckons there’s more to it.

A worried Todd confides in Shona and Gary that he had a row with Theo last night, he stormed out and hasn’t seen him since. When Jake then calls in the Kabin and hands Brian a mobile phone, Todd’s further shaken when Brian reveals it’s Theo’s phone.

Hiding her emotions, Asha assures Dev that she made the right decision by retracting her complaint, but is he right?

Also, Glenda tells George she’s drawn up a list of Christina’s pros and cons, but when Christina appears she snatches the list from her hand.

Todd’s surprised when Theo agrees to a night out in the gay village with Sean, James, Mary, Glenda and Christina. In the club they’re all having a great time until a man recognises Theo, a look of shock on his face. Theo stares at him until Owen turns away and hurries out.

Urged on by Theo, Todd joins his friends on the dance floor. As Theo heads to the loos, Owen approaches, determined to have it out with him. Theo manhandles Owen out onto the street and orders him to back off.

Who is he?

There's trouble for two-timing Abi when Debbie orders her to pack her bags and move out of No.13 or she’ll tell Kevin the whole sorry story.

Will Abi listen?

Elsewhere, George calls with some soup for Rita. Aware that she misled him into thinking Rita’s very poorly, Jenny quickly steers him out. But when Brian reveals that Rita has nothing more than a sprained ankle, how will George react?

Deeply ashamed, Jenny apologises to Rita for misleading George into thinking she was very ill and explains how she enjoyed the attention. Can Rita forgive her once more or has Jenny burned her bridges?

Things are only getting worse for poor Asha as she struggles at work. In the hospital ambulance bay, she watches the paramedics at work, feeling more alone than ever.

When Sienna calls in the shop and Dev learns that Asha is yet to return to work, he reveals to Asha that he knows she’s lying. Embarrassed, Asha storms out. Will she reveal what has happened?

Also, Tyrone comes home in a wheelchair and finds he has a welcome party when he gets back... is this the start of his long road to recovery?

Abi calls at the hotel and admits to Carl she’s not in the mood for sex and is dreading her birthday tea with Kevin and Jack - but while she isn't looking, Carl surreptitiously texts James.

Spotting Abi with a hotel key, Debbie demands answers, but Abi thinks quickly and makes out that she stayed at the hotel a while back and forgot to return the card.

When Debbie asserts that she has no recollection of her booking, Carl steps in and convinces her that her dementia is to blame. As Debbie heads off, humiliated, Abi’s unsettled by Carl’s ruthless approach.

Back at the hotel, Debbie is checking the CCTV footage for a theft when she spots Abi heading towards Carl’s room.

As Debbie hammers on the door, what will she find?

Elsewhere, Todd reveals he promised Billy he’d help at the soup kitchen, and Theo covers his annoyance. Billy calls at the bistro and is surprised to see Theo comforting Danielle.

Theo returns to the community centre, snaps at Todd and Billy and heads over to help Mary dismantle the tables.

Suddenly, Theo lets out a yell, having trapped his finger. As Todd rushes to find the first aid kit, Theo gives a self-satisfied smile

Glenda explains to Jenny and Rita how she intends to rig the dating night to ensure that Jenny gets first crack at George and not Christina.

But as Glenda draws the names, Rita calls to inform Jenny she’s had a fall, and Jenny’s heart sinks.

As Asha knocks back the drinks, Nina worries about her, and Dee-Dee reveals that James can’t baby sit, Ollie’s unfazed and suggests that Laila joins them for dinner.

The Hack is a new 7-part series on ITV that takes a fresh look at the phone hacking scandal that engulfed the News of the World.

Written by BAFTA, Tony and Olivier award-winning screenwriter, Jack Thorne (the man behind Adolescence and Toxic Town), The Hack is produced by the same team who brought us Mr Bates vs The Post Office and boasts an all-star cast including David Tennant, Robert Carlyle and Toby Jones.

Speaking of the series, Jack Thorne said: "This is a strange and deceptive piece of our recent history. One with so many layers to it. I thought, as someone who is interested in politics, I understood everything that happened. I did not. It’s a fight for the truth that really shocked me. The Hack release date

The Hack will land on ITV1 on Wednesday, September 24 at 9 pm.

All seven episodes of the series will also land on ITVX as a box set on Wednesday, September 24.

The Hack plot

Set between 2002 and 2012, the series intertwines two real-life storylines, beginning with that of investigative journalist Nick Davies (Rivals’ David Tennant), who receives an anonymous tip-off about the News of the World intercepting private voicemails.

As Nick tenaciously gathers evidence of how the paper was using illicit methods to secure splashy headlines, the drama also examines an investigation by Metropolitan Police detective Dave Cook (The Full Monty’s Robert Carlyle, who appears from Episode 2) into the still-unsolved 1987 murder of private investigator Daniel Morgan.

"Dave’s story was new to me, and we thought it’d be interesting to tell it separately to Nick’s and then twist them together," says BAFTA-winner Jack. "It’s about great journalism and remarkable people who are brave."

Alongside David Tennant as investigative journalist Nick Davies, the cast also features Mr Bates vs The Post Office star Toby Jones as former editor-in-chief of The Guardian, Alan Rusbridger, who becomes Nick’s ally in his crusade. Meanwhile, Steve Pemberton (Inside No. 9) plays Rupert Murdoch, whose company, News International, owned the News of the World, and Jordan Renzo (The Spanish Princess) plays his son James Murdoch. The Full Monty’s Robert Carlyle plays Metropolitan Police detective Dave Cook.

They're joined by the likes of Rose Leslie (Miss Austen), Dougray Scott (Crime), Eve Myles (Torchwood), Adrian Lester (Hustle), Katherine Kelly (Protection), Kevin Doyle (Line of Duty), Neil Maskell (Hijack) and Lara Pulver (Spooks).

David Tennant reveals how journalism and justice collide in the drama…

How does it feel to be portraying the man who helped uncover one of the UK’s darkest media scandals?
"It’s an honour to be telling Nick’s story. He’s a great investigative journalist because he can smell where the story is and uncover it. He’s like a dog with a bone when he senses injustice, malpractice or deception. The story we tell is that he’s not an uncomplicated individual, but he’s someone who did something very heroic."

Did you meet him?
"We hung out before filming and it was great to get a sense of what motivates him. He fulfilled my expectations. He also visited us on set when I was wearing the wig, which is not a direct copy of how he looks, but a nod in that direction. I think it would be quite odd to see somebody being a spectre of you, but I hope he’s pleased with what we’ve done."

Can you tell us about his dynamic with Alan Rusbridger, played by Toby Jones?
"Jack created that relationship in the way he wrote the two characters, but it’s absolutely based on reality. They have a deference for each other that’s moving. They see how they bring out the best in each other, and playing opposite Toby made that very easy. He’s someone I look up to professionally, and he’s a wonderful, twinkly, warm presence."

The drama boasts an incredible cast, which also includes Katherine Kelly, Eve Myles, Rose Leslie, Dougray Scott, Lee Ingleby and Adrian Lester…
"We have a Rolls-Royce of a cast! People who should be leading a series would come in and play roles with relatively little screen time, but they make so many moments sing. Robert is great casting for Dave, too. We’d never met before this, which is weird as we’re both from the homeland."

And what does telling the story from two different angles bring?
"It’s fascinating and bold, but then Jack does bold storytelling like no one else. Nick and Dave’s stories take you on slightly different journeys, until those two journeys collide. Jack found a way in through these two characters who were living separate lives but discovering the same unpleasant truth. It’s thrilling to watch!"

The Hack has been commissioned for ITV by Director of Drama, Polly Hill and will air on ITV1 and STV and will be available for streaming on ITVX and STV Player.

The drama has been directed by BAFTA award winning director Lewis Arnold (Time, Sherwood, The Long Shadow) and is executive produced by BAFTA, Peabody and RTS award winning Patrick Spence, (Mr Bates vs The Post Office, A Spy Among Friends, Adult Material), who is the Managing Director of AC Chapter One.

Jack Thorne (Adolescence, His Dark Materials, Help, National Treasure, Enola Holmes) also executive produces alongside Joe Williams (Mr Bates vs The Post Office). Abi Bach, producer of multi award-winning dramas (The Honourable Woman, Black Earth Rising, And Then There Were None) is the Series Producer.

Annalisa Dinnella (Sex Education, Ralph & Katie) has written one of the episodes and has co-written two of the episodes with Jack Thorne.

Rob Brydon is to host an ITV version of Hollywood actor Rob Lowe's monster hit US game show The Floor.

However, while on the American quiz the grand prize is $250,000, the UK winner will have to settle for a more modest £50,000. ITV is looking for contestants and you can apply now.

Rob will no doubt be hoping The Floor is as successful for ITV as his Would I Lie To You? co-star Lee Mack's quiz The 1% Club.

The Floor will see 81 quiz fantatics battle it out on a giant LED floor divided into 81 equal squares. A bit like Mastermind, each contestant picks their own specialised subject of knowledge, which could be anything from babies to fruits to kids' movies.

ITV says: "The goal is to conquer the entire floor and take home a huge cash prize. The rules are simple. A random contestant challenges an adjoining opponent in a quiz duel. They play against each other in the category of the opponent's square.

"The winner of a duel conquers their opponent's square, gaining more ground — the loser leaves the game. The further the game progresses, the more exciting the duels become and the higher the stakes. After ten episodes, who will be the last person standing on The Floor and take home £50,000?”

As well as America, The Floor also has versions in over 20 countries, including Australia, Poland, and Spain.

They've tied the knot but Gabby and Vinny have got huge secrets hanging in their closets.

Will they rip off the band-aid and confide in each other knowing it could ruin their marriage before it's really begun?

Vinny might not have noticed that something's got his wife rattled but Laurel has and she wants her stepdaughter to talk.

Laurel can't believe her ears when Gabby admits she slept with someone while she was over in Portugal visiting Bernice.

But Gabby doesn't want to hear a word of Laurel's pleas for her to tell Vinny about her betrayal. Instead she wants to focus on her family unit coming together now Vinny's agreed to officially adopt Thomas.

However, Vinny's secret could ruin that too.

Having gone to the police about violent homophobe Mike – who catfished sexually-confused Vinny and attacked him – a court case is now looming.

Though Vinny doesn't want anyone to go through what he experienced, he doesn't want Gabby to know he was questioning his sexuality in the run up to their wedding.

Will Vinny agree to stand as a witness against evil Mike knowing it could lead to Gabby finding out about his secret?

Elsewhere, April's got things on her mind. And Jai puts the thumb screws on someone…

Things come to a head for Liam Cavanagh who's been trying to ignore his bladder issue.

Claudette's been on at her GP boss to address his health problem but so far has been met with excuse after excuse.

But when fellow GP Manpreet catches her colleague taking a leak in his consulting room sink, Liam's problem is brought into sharp focus.

Realising something must be seriously wrong for Liam to have to do such a thing, Manpreet forces the mortified doctor to get it addressed.

With an appointment booked, Liam then has to raise the matter with his girlfriend Chas who's had breast cancer and lost her mum to the disease.

How will Chas react when her partner tells her he's being checked out for prostate cancer?

It's one thing after another for Chas who's got a lot going on right now.

But another stress is added to her list when she clocks Charity and Ross looking really sketchy.

They're talking about the pregnancy, of course.

Though Chas hasn't a clue that Charity might be carrying Ross' kid rather than Sarah and Jacob's – one thing she does now know is that something is going on between the pair.

When Charity sneaks off to get a DNA test to find out whose baby she's carrying, will Chas press her for answers?

Elsewhere, as Paddy tries to be a father-figure to Dylan he offers to teach the lad to drive.

Paddy doesn't realise he has a rival in ruthless Ray who's got all bases covered when it comes to Dylan and his girlfriend April.

Later, Dylan's stunned when the dealer surprises him with a super generous gift not twigging that Ray's just locking him in.

April's taken aback when she runs into her druggy boss in the Hide where he charms his way round giddy Laurel.

When Ray tells April that their debt is still huge, she's unable to say no when he suggests there's a faster way they can clear it.

In a remote carpark, Ray schools April in how to deal drugs rather than just drop them off.

After she pulls off a demo deal, Ray gives April a burner phone and with that. she's fully recruited.

In the pub, April and Dylan reckon their future is looking rosy unaware that puppet master Ray will be the judge of that…

Emmerdale's Charity is struggling with her guilty conscience in Wednesday's episode (ITV, 7.30pm, see our TV Guide for full listings).

There's a ton of stuff going on in Charity's world right now. She's stressed to the max about what's gone on and on top of that she's got a pregnancy secret growing inside her.

As she tries to keep up appearances, masking her fears, Ross isn't bothered about what she's going through, he just wants to know if she's carrying his kid.

Though Charity's trying to convince herself that the surrogacy has worked and that she's carrying her granddaughter Sarah's baby, she knows there's a huge possibility her drunken night with Ross has landed her carrying another of his kids.

How much longer can she keep up the act?

There's trouble up at the Depot where, as per usual, Jai and Caleb are clashing.

'General manager' Jai can't stand the way Caleb runs the business and thinks he's being way too casual about procedure.

Meanwhile newbie Dylan is trying to make a good impression on his bosses but Ray's doing him no favours.

Dylan's caught like a rabbit in the headlights when his drug dealer boss pitches up and insists he's taking him off on a driving lesson.

Over at the cafe, Liam's trying to have a quiet cuppa when Claudette starts up about his bladder problem.

Emmerdale's Dylan just can't escape Ray in Monday's episode (ITV, 7.30pm, see our TV Guide for full listings).

Ray's hold on Dylan and April just gets tighter and tighter. He's got them doing whatever he pleases, whenever he pleases unaware that the debt they're in to the druglord is nothing but a ruse of his own making.

April's recent frank, and fierce chat with the dealer just seems to have tightened the confusing bond thanks to manipulative Ray's mind games.

When the teenager apologises to Ray for all she said, his ears prick up as she reveals Dylan's been hired at the Depot.

No sooner as Dylan put on his high-vis than Ray's there, prowling.

Given that Caleb's business is a delivery service, Ray realises this could work really well for him. Dylan's heart sinks when he twigs that Ray is about to pollute his new start with his druggy demands.

At the cafe, April runs into Ross and clearly wants to offload. But Ross is super distracted by his phone and is only half listening to the troubled teen who suggests she's in trouble with someone but doesn't reveal that it's way more than just a spat with a mate.

Over at the surgery, Claudette is determined to get Liam checked out.

Having found him taking a pee at the allotments, she went on to learn that the GP is constantly getting caught short and wants her boss to address the issue.

Insisting that it's way too busy at work to take time out, Liam tells Claudette to cancel it.

Kevin tells Tyrone about his breakup with Abi and how he suspects she might be having an affair with Carl. Tyrone shares his own frustration over the hit and run and how the police are no nearer to finding out who was responsible.

In the hotel bedroom, Abi snuggles up next to Carl and suggests it’s time for them to run away together and start a new life. Carl tries to make light of the situation and when Debbie Webster pays him a visit, she is shocked to find Abi there.

Bernie confides in Dev that, according to Kit, it’s going to be difficult to bring charges against Naomi as they only have Asha’s word for what happened. At the careers fair, Bernie locates Naomi’s laptop. As Naomi takes the stage and clicks on the first slide, she’s horrified by what she sees.

Bernie explains to the shocked audience how Naomi abused Asha, a paramedic and woman of colour. Nina and Amy film the proceedings on their phones while Ryan calls a halt to the event. Having watched the video, Asha rounds on Bernie for interfering. Later, Naomi barges into No.7 and announces that she’s suing Bernie for defamation.

Todd does his best to appear upbeat when Theo excitedly reveals that Miles and Millie are coming to say and orders him to get the flat looking spick and span.

When Millie reveals that the only reason they’ve come to visit is because they’re legally required to see him, Theo’s cut to the quick.

Jenny invites George to join her for lunch but he declines, making out he’s got to clean the funeral parlour.

Later, Jenny calls at the undertakers with her mop but quickly leaves when she finds that George has already enlisted Christina’s help.

Dee-Dee and Ollie join Adam and Alya for lunch in the bistro. But Dee-Dee is embarrassed when Ollie criticises the food.

At the hospital, the doctor gives Kevin the all clear during his cancer check, and while Kevin is flooded with relief, Abi Franklin hides her unease, especially when Kevin states he’s looking forward to them growing old together.

Abi meets up with Carl and tells him she hates leading a double life and lying to Kevin. Back at home, Kevin suggests they spend their retirement doing up old cars. Abi steals herself and drops the bombshell that she thinks they should break up.

Dev persuades a reluctant Asha to let him take her for lunch at the hotel. But she’s shaken when she comes face to face with Naomi, who’s there planning a careers fair.

She reminds Naomi how she tried to help her when she was drunk, but in return, she was abused and spat upon. Naomi denies all knowledge and warns Asha against making unfounded allegations.

Asha returns home in tears and tells Bernie about her run-in with Naomi and how she played dumb. Bernie heads out, a woman on a mission. But what is she planning to do?

Fiz admits to Maria that she’s feeling the strain with Tyrone in hospital.

Later, Todd confides in Maria that he’s mystified by Theo’s reaction to the news about Noah when all he ever did was make Theo’s life a misery. But he’s unaware that Theo is listening in, his face darkening.

Becky reveals that she’s moving into a rented flat nearby and Lisa Swain is forced to agree when Betsy suggests Lisa could help her move her stuff. As they wait in the car together, having run out of fuel, Becky discusses Carla.

Elsewhere, Carla tells Ryan that she trusts Lisa implicitly, but Carla masks her unease when Ryan wonders if she trusts Becky to the same degree.

As they arrive in court for the hearing, Dee-Dee warns Theo to keep a cool head. Danielle’s barrister questions Theo about his violent temper and accuses him of assaulting Miles. Theo assures him it was an accident but as Noah makes derogatory remarks under his breath, Todd loses his temper and lunges at him.

Abi quizzes Carl about Tracy and he makes out that he fed her a sob story, she bought it and won’t be bothering them again.

Abi thanks Tracy for backing off, but Abi’s horrified when Tracy reveals she didn’t have much choice as Carl got someone to trash her shop and threatened to hurt her Dad.

As Todd is escorted out by security, Noah allows himself a smug grin. Will Theo be granted access to his kids?

Noah finds the pair at the bistro and, asserting that Danielle won’t back down, makes homophobic jibes. When Theo refuses to rise to the bait, Noah leaves fuming. However, Danielle later arrives with some shocking news about Noah.

Bernie voices her concerns about Asha to Dev and he admits that she’s been spending a lot of time in her room. After some persuasion from Bernie, Asha agrees to help Ryan with the careers fair at the hotel, unaware that the guest speaker is the woman who abused her.

Evelyn masks her disappointment and tells Fiz that she’s decided to give up university as it’s expensive and is a young person’s game.

Viewers are hoping Coldwater season 2 could be on its way to ITV, after the first series of the psychological thriller ended on a tantalising cliffhanger!

The show created by celebrated playwright David Ireland proved a hit with viewers after reaching our screens in September and many have wondered if we could be returning to the town of Coldwater one day.

The first series told the story of John (Andrew Lincoln) and his family, who moved from London to rural Scotland after a traumatic incident, only to find themselves caught in the clutches of his sinister new neighbour, Tommy (Ewen Bremner).

Despite his success writing for the theatre, this was Ireland's first TV thriller and he said he'd be open to doing a sequel...

"I'd never really written this kind of stuff before so I never even thought of a second series initially," he told us when we spoke to him in the summer of 2025.

"I couldn't even imagine how you set up for a second series, but as I got towards the end writing the last two episodes of the first series, I thought it would be good to keep this going if possible, because I do find the characters really fascinating. It would be great to keep them going for a few more seasons!"

So will there be a Coldwater season 2? Here's everything we know..

Will there be a Coldwater season 2?

David Ireland is keen to make more and the show's stars are also open to the idea of reprising their characters and returning to Coldwater...

"I would love for that to happen and for us to make some more," said Ewen Bremner, who played Tommy, when we spoke to him earlier this year.

Meanwhile Eve Myles, who played Tommy's wife Rebecca, also hinted that she'd be keen to continue the story if the opportunity arose.

"This was certainly a series that we all thoroughly enjoy doing," she explained. "It felt like a very different type of of drama that will hopefully take people by surprise and connect with people."

Coldwater season 2 plot

The finale of Coldwater season 1 was very open and after Tommy was finally unmasked as the man behind the murders of Angus and his father Nathan (plus how many others?) he escaped and went on the run.

His wife Rebecca (Eve Myles) had clearly been complicit in many of his crimes. She lied to the authorities after he fled, claiming she'd been living in fear of her husband, yet we're convinced she still loves him.

Indeed one of the final scenes of the series saw her watching John (Andrew Lincoln) menacingly while he attended a bible study group in her house.

It seems she might believe John is responsible for shedding light on Tommy's crimes and is planning revenge. Either way, we're sure Tommy is desperate to get back at the man who helped finally bring him down and if he is, we think Rebecca would help him.

We also saw Tommy's son, Cameron (Samuel Bottomley), calling him in the closing stages of the series, suggesting he still believes his father has been framed. Could he be persuaded to help his old man take revenge?

One person who didn't seem convinced about Rebecca's innocence was John's wife Fiona (Indira Varma), who could hold the key to revealing the truth about her.

Meanwhile, the murder of Coldwater sex worker Susie Bissett still remains unsolved several decades later. It's assumed Tommy knows something about that, but is it a case a second series could look at?

Coldwater season 2 cast

The first season of Coldwater was Andrew Lincoln's first British drama for nearly 15 years, so whether the star of AMC The Walking Dead would be keen go straight into a second series remains to be seen.

Having said that it would be possible to come back for a second series without his character. A sequel could simply focus on the hunt for Tommy, while maybe looking back at his past crimes?

This Coldwater episode 1 recap contains spoilers... The Walking Dead star Andrew Lincoln makes his long-awaited return to British TV in this twisting ITV thriller about a man whose move to a beautiful town in rural Scotland quickly turns into the stuff of nightmares.

His troubles begin when he falls under the spell of his charismatic new neighbour, Tommy (Ewen Bremner), a malevolent individual harbouring some dark secrets.

Here's how episode one played out...

The story begins in London, with John (Andrew Lincoln) witnessing another father hitting his son at a children's playground. A woman next to him confronts him about his behaviour, but the man punches her and knocks her to the ground viciously, in a truly shocking opening to the show. Rather than intervene, John flees, forgetting his daughter in the process. It’s not a great introduction for our main character.

Not content with running away on that occasion, John decides he needs to do more of it and moves his young family to Coldwater in Scotland. Will they be happier up there? Well, they’re soon invited to dinner by the neighbours, or "the Christians" as John’s wife Fiona (Indira Varma) dubs them.

It’s clear the couple have lost the spark in their marriage, as John refuses the advances of his wife, claiming there’s "too much" going on to have sex — such as seeing his therapist.

While taking the kids to school, John meets his Christian neighbour Tommy, who invites him to his bible group before they have dinner. John doesn’t seem keen.

'Perfect evil'

John tells his therapist Williams (Jonathan Watson) about his awkward encounter with his wife that morning. “She tried to grab my penis,” he bleats, before revealing he was thinking about Fergie at the time. Not the Duchess of York, but the Black Eyed Peas singer, which is at least something to hold on to - as it were.

John wants to go for a run, but he needs to pick up cough medicine for his son Harry, so he heads to the shop where he bumps into Angus (Lorn MacDonald), a local yob who’s terrorising the young woman behind the counter. He doesn’t intervene, yet accidentally distracts Angus when he drops his shopping, before meekly running away with the lout’s threats ringing in his ears — abandoning another vulnerable woman in the process.

That evening John and Fiona head round to have dinner with their neighbours, Tommy and Rebecca (Eve Myles). John peaks into the bible group and finds them all discussing serial killers as Tommy explains how it was Ian Brady and the like that helped him find God, which isn’t disturbing or weird at all. “If perfect evil exists, then so too must perfect good,” he blathers strangely.

After that, John discusses his encounter with Angus and local pastor Rebecca says she has a soft spot for him, before recounting the tale of Susie Bissett, a sex worker who was murdered in Coldwater a couple of decades ago. “The killer was never caught,” she says. We’ve only been in Coldwater for 10 minutes, but we know where we’d start looking on that front. Maybe with the Christian who loves serial killers!

Later on, John confesses his trauma over the incident in the playground and how he abandoned his girl to Tommy. His new neighbour seems very interested in the whole fiasco and reassures him that he’s a “good man” (he’s not) before urging John to pray with him. When Fiona sees what they’re doing, she’s quite confused. “Call me anytime,” says Tommy as they leave. “He makes my skin crawl,” Fiona tells her husband later on. We know what she means.

'Shower, sleep, silence'

Unable to sleep that evening, John decides to go out for the run he’s been so keen on and soon finds his route taking him through the woods. For someone who’s petrified of everything, it’s a strange move and he instantly regrets it when he bumps into Angus, who lives in a cabin out there.

Rather than just running off — after all he’s probably in much better shape than the local yob and has plenty of form — he stands and takes the abuse Angus hurls at him, before the pair end up in a tussle. As John’s being strangled on the ground, he reaches for a rock and smashes Angus’ face in, before running away (natch) and leaving him for dead.

However, when he gets home, he meets Tommy and tells him all about the terrible thing he’s done. John wants to tell the police, but Tommy tells him not to tell anyone. “There are three steps out of this. Shower, sleep, silence,” he says, telling him he’ll deal with the body.

However, what John doesn’t realise is that he didn’t kill Angus - but Tommy does when he heads off into the woods after parting ways with his new friend, before burning the young man’s cabin with him inside to make it look like a terrible accident. But not before taking Angus’ necklace and stashing it with some other pieces of jewellery in a dusty box in his shed. Did that other jewellery belong to Susie Bissett, who was murdered all those years ago?

Creepy.

Coldwater, ITV1, 9 pm

Andrew Lincoln spent more than a decade playing a hero in hit US zombie drama The Walking Dead, but he’s more wet blanket than warrior in this intense potboiler. The six-parter tells the tale of John, a weak-willed stay-at-home dad who falls into the clutches of a man with some dark secrets when he moves with his wife and kids from London to the Scottish backwater of Coldwater, with Lincoln happily throwing himself under a bus as an unravelling lead. Yet it’s Ewen Bremner and Eve Myles who steal the show as his unsettling neighbours Tommy and Rebecca, the town’s malevolent power couple. Continues tomorrow and is available as a box set on ITVX now.

Rob and Rylan's Passage to India, BBC2, 9 pm

Watching Rylan Clark and Rob Rinder open their hearts and surround themselves in Italian culture in last year’s Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour was unexpectedly affecting. This three-part follow-up, inspired by EM Forster’s 1924 novel A Passage to India, finds them in very different surroundings, but their odd-couple chemistry is still absolute dynamite, and their excitement and appreciation for the art they explore is palpable. Tonight’s clear highlight is the scene where they write and perform their own raps for a slightly bemused audience in a Delhi marketplace – maybe this time they’ll get a BRIT Award to go with their BAFTA! Also available as a box set on BBC iPlayer now.

Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams… Ultimate Test, BBC1, 8.15 pm

The former England captain’s aim to turn cricket in this country from a pursuit of the privileged elite into a true game for the masses is an admirable one – and the success of Field of Dreams’ first two series suggests he’s on to something. But his new plan to start a grassroots league for young players is bringing fresh challenges. Central to the project are his new teams, but as the girls in Blackpool and boys in Bootle experience their own teething troubles, Freddie takes on the task of forming a third. Or, more accurately, rescuing historic Manchester club Newton Heath, which is on the brink of extinction and hasn’t had a kids’ team since the early noughties. Has he finally met his match?

M&S: Dress the Nation, ITV1, 6.55 pm

Vernon Kay and AJ Odudu are back to host a second series of the contest, offering amateur designers the chance to win a mentorship at high-street favourite M&S and have their designs sold in store. The nine hopefuls begin with a focus on womenswear, and their efforts are judged by M&S Director of Womenswear Maddy Evans, guest Jade Jagger and, importantly, store customers themselves. Series 1 winner David Olaniyi’s limited collection of occasionwear was launched in October 2024, proving dreams do come materially true with this show.

Bake Off: An Extra Slice, Channel 4, 8 pm

We’re not sure it’s possible to get a more wholesome yet genuinely funny start to the weekend than Bake Off’s sister show. Jo Brand hits exactly the right note (there’s as much eye-roll as Swiss roll) while hosting the celebrity panel and sympathising with the baker who has left the tent, and Tom Allen’s deadpan style is perfect. Much as many of us would like to hang on to summer for as long as possible, now we’re heading into the middle of September, it’s time for gardeners to be practical and look ahead to autumn. Monty Don does just that this episode, as he prunes his raspberries, harvests sweetcorn and assesses his plants in pots. Meanwhile, Frances Tophill is in Cornwall to find out more about a new technology that’s creating borders for pollinators.

As the Downton saga comes to an end with the cinematic release of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, this documentary looks at a worldwide phenomenon.

Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping, Channel 4, 10 pm

David Mitchell and Robert Webb’s sketch show series continues tonight with a terrible reality show, Hot Seat (even the host, played by Webb, admits the format is like ‘two Maltesers in a paper bag’). There’s also the return of Sweary Aussie Drama, an advert for an incredibly violent family game called Stab the Pirate and an insight into the conversation which may have taken place when ABBA’s Björn asked his wife Agnetha to sing the words ‘I’m nothing special, in fact I’m a bit of a bore’ in Thank You for the Music.

The Ann Ming Story, ITV1, 9 pm

The remarkable true story of Teesside grandmother Ann Ming’s fight to put her daughter Julie’s killer behind bars is currently playing out in ITV drama I Fought the Law, starring Sheridan Smith (see p46). This documentary looks at the police investigation into Julie’s disappearance in 1989, the acquittal of suspect Billy Dunlop in the face of damning evidence, and Ann’s subsequent campaign to overturn the 800-year-old ‘double jeopardy’ law that prevented a retrial, even after Dunlop confessed. There’s testimony from Ann, her grandson Kevin, who reveals the toll his mother’s murder took on him, and the police officer who worked the case. We also hear Sheridan’s view of the indomitable woman she portrays.

Saving Lives at Sea, BBC2, 8 pm

In an episode concentrating on search operations, dangerous seas and conflicting information leave crews facing tense and treacherous situations. Off Kingsbarns Beach, near Anstruther in Scotland, a paddleboarder is in trouble. The crew are worried to hear the casualty is on a blue and white board – perfect camo in choppy waters – but more concerned that they have no life jacket or wetsuit, making the prospect of hypothermia in the freezing North Sea a real danger. Meanwhile, there’s confusion in Sussex, when the Selsey lifeboat responds to reports of a person entering the water fully clothed near a popular diving destination…

Atomic, Sky Atlantic and Sky Showcase, 9 pm

Fans of BBC One’s The Night Manager who are impatiently waiting for its second series could do worse in the meantime than hunkering down with Sky’s Atomic, another cinematic edge-of-the-seat thriller played out on an international stage. After meeting in the Libyan desert, Max (Alfie Allen) and JJ (Shazad Latif) have picked up their cargo in Beirut, travelled through Syria and now they’re in Marrakech. ‘This is not what you think it is,’ says Max when he’s reunited with his girlfriend, Laetitia (Charlie Murphy) – and actually, it’s not what we think it is, either. The twists keep coming in this penultimate episode, setting us up for what’s sure to be an explosive finale next week…

Taskmaster, Channel 4, 9 pm

Few shows on TV are such a source of guaranteed delight as Taskmaster, and series 20(!) gets off to a roaring start tonight. The five comedians hoping to impress Greg Davies and his assistant ‘Little’ Alex Horne this time around are Ania Magliano, Maisie Adam, Phil Ellis, Reece Shearsmith and Sanjeev Bhaskar, and the mood is set admirably when an early task involves everyone pursuing Alex around the Taskmaster house while trying to scan a QR code on his jacket. Chaos immediately ensues, and it only gets more bizarre with large-scale bowling and a mission involving multiplication…

National Television Awards, ITV1, 8 pm

It’s that time of year again when all of the brightest lights in the TV firmament head to London’s O2 Arena, dressed in their finest outfits and hoping that they’ll have to make room on the mantelpiece for a new trophy when they get home. Joel Dommett is once again our host with the most, and after he pulled out a surprise musical number to open last year’s ceremony, we can’t wait to see what he’s got planned for tonight! But we’re mostly excited to see who the big winners will be – and if this could be the year that someone else manages to snag the TV Presenter trophy away from Ant & Dec. You never know…

The Rumour, Channel 5, 9pm

A wave of paranoia engulfs a small town when a mother stumbles across an online post about a convicted child killer living in her neighbourhood under a new identity. As a newcomer to the area, Joanna (Rachel Shenton, All Creatures Great and Small) wants to know more and is soon sharing the information with a group of mums at her son’s new school. But as her mission to uncover the killer’s identity intensifies, there are devastating consequences. A great cast, including Emily Atack and Joanne Whalley, get this five-part adaptation of Lesley Kara’s bestselling novel off to a gripping start. Continues every evening at the same time until Friday.

The Girlfriend, Prime Video

There’s a touch of Single White Female about Prime Video’s new psychological thriller as Robin Wright (House of Cards) plays devoted mother Laura, a successful businesswoman who’ll stop at nothing to protect her only son Daniel (The Road Trip’s Laurie Davidson) from his suspicious new partner, Cherry (House of the Dragon’s Olivia Cooke). With each episode in this six-parter told from dual perspectives, you’ll find yourselves switching sides throughout – is Cherry a manipulative social climber, or is Laura a paranoid, possessive mum? – making this well-executed drama all the more compelling. Lands as a box set.

Stranded on Honeymoon Island, BBC1, 9 pm

If you haven’t watched this yet but need a handle on what exactly it is, think Married at First Sight crossed with Survivor, with a dash of Made in Chelsea. After three episodes, we’re invested in the six couples who were matched after speed-dating and dispatched to an island in the Philippines. A meeting at ‘Couples Cove’ gave them a chance to compare their burgeoning relationships with others, leading Mae to feel upset about the lack of romance with Moray. Will that change this week? Continues until Friday.

Though Dylan thinks Ray has thrown him a lifeline, April isn't as taken in by the manipulative drug dealer.

April's furious to know that her abilities are being questioned by Ray, unaware that this is all just another tactic of his to maintain control of the teenage couple.

Summoned to a carpark, April stands up to Ray wanting to know when their debt (again, another shady control ploy of Ray's) will be wiped out.

When the dealer heads off in his car taking April with him, worried Dylan is left wondering if his girlfriend is in danger…

The horror continues for Mack who's still stuck inside the bomb shelter where John's had him stashed for weeks. Attempts to escape have failed.

He's weak, his wounds are infected, he's out of hope and as his state of mind and his health plummets, he injects himself with a syringe his psycho killer captor John left for him.

As Mack starts hallucinating, he's haunted by visions of his wife Charity… Will he ever see his loved ones again?

April's due to do a drug drop for dodgy Ray but the plan falls apart when Pc Swirling happens to spot her.

Though the policeman doesn't twig that anything is untoward, he offers to take April home and she's powerless to say otherwise.

Rhona's stunned when she sees her stepdaughter getting out of the back of Swirling's patrol car.

April's cover-story manages to satisfy Rhona but Ray's not happy about the outcome and tells Dylan he's worried she's going to blab.

When Dylan mentions what Ray has said, April flips, furious to have been dragged into the dealer's shady world. And Dylan's comments only make matters worse.

Later, the teenager has an interview at the Depot. Is this Dylan's chance to get on the straight and narrow?

Unaware that Gabby has a skeleton in her closet, Vinny is petrified about the host of secrets residing in his.

With Kammy having confronted Vinny's tormenter and blackmailer, Mike, the situation has got even worse.

Homophobic catfish Mike now wants more money to secure his silence about Vinny's sexual confusion.

So when Gabby summons guilt-ridden Vinny to the salon to talk, he panics. Does she now know he tried to kiss Kammy? Or is Gabby about to drop a bombshell of her own?

Tracy Barlow spells out to Abi that she’s fed up being paid in instalments and wants the rest of the money today. When Abi tells Carl, he asserts that he’ll give her £500 and make it clear that's an end to the matter.

But when Tracy reminds him that she’s the one calling the shots, Abi reckons it’s time they told Kevin about their affair. Carl won’t hear of it and instead suggests they call Tracy’s bluff.

Will Tracy talk and how will she react to find the flower shop being trashed by a masked thug?

Theo confides in Todd that he’s worried about the court case and if Danielle saw the state of their flat she’d deem it unsuitable for the kids.

With Theo gone, Billy, George and Brian join Todd and set to cleaning the flat. Nearing the end, they delve into some snacks and dance to music. When Theo returns home and takes in the scene, how will he react?

Tyrone confides in Evelyn that he could be laid up for months and he’s worried about the strain on Fiz.

Carl covers before meeting up with Fiona to explain he had no choice but to torch the car. But is the game up when Kit heads over and asks what Carl’s doing hanging out with a known criminal?

Later, Tracy delights in reminding Carl that her next payment is due, failing which she’ll tell Kevin about the affair.

Carla puts pressure on Lisa to tell Betsy the truth about Becky, knowing she’ll find out in the end and be more heartbroken. When Lisa refuses to entertain the idea, Carla summons Becky.

As Becky breaks down and begs Lisa to let her see their daughter, Carla hopes she will do the right thing, but Lisa spells out to Becky that she’s not willing to inflict any more pain on Betsy.

Accepting defeat, Carla tells Becky to go. In the precinct, Becky watches as Betsy talks to Ryan. Will she blow her cover and reach out to her daughter?

After his child custody meeting, Theo vows to do whatever it takes to secure access to his kids.

Fiz calls home from the hospital to update on Tyrone’s operation.

Hit-and-run victim Tyrone Dobbs can’t feel his legs as he wakes up in hospital in tonight’s episode of Coronation Street. Airs on Monday, 15th September at 8pm. See our TV Guide for full listings.

Following last week’s shocking crime, dad-of-three Tyrone Dobbs is recovering in the hospital.

While the police try to find out who was driving the car that smashed into the mechanic and failed to stop and help him, Tyrone wakes up clearly agitated and tells Fiz to find a doctor as he can’t feel his legs.

Brody assures Kit that neither he nor Dylan had anything to do with the hit and run because at the time he was suffering a seizure. He then reminds Carl that they ditched the car before heading to the hospital.

Carl says that when he went to pick it up, the car had gone and suggests someone else must have stolen it then ran over Tyrone. At the station, Jess interviews Dylan but will she let him go when he reveals he was at the hospital?

Costello warns Becky to keep her head down or they could both end up in prison. A fired up Lisa enters the station determined to have it out with Costello, but he refuses to be drawn.

Kit warns Carla that Costello isn’t all that he seems and Lisa needs to be careful. But he is stunned when Carla reveals that Becky isn’t dead and she’s come back!

Elsewhere, Lisa barges into Costello’s office and demands he tell her every detail surrounding Becky’s fake death or she’ll take the story to the press.

As Todd and Theo excitedly move into the corner shop flat, George calls round with some beers and Theo is annoyed when Todd invites him to stay for a drink.

It has been announced today (Monday, September 8) that I'm A Celebrity... South Africa has been commissioned for a second action-packed season.

The I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here spin-off show received rave reviews when it aired in 2023, with the all-star version of the iconic series bringing together some of the most memorable campmates from series' gone by.

The first season of I'm A Celebrity... South Africa was such a huge hit that ITV has announced a second series will air in 2026, as more faces from the show's past return to test themselves in brand-new trials and challenges in the South African wilderness.

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly will once again be hosting the new series, which promises to be bigger and better than ever before. ITV's official announcement said: "Campmates have already proved that they can survive the Australian jungle, but this is I’m A Celebrity… on a whole new level, it’s where legends are made.

"The trials are tougher than ever and with that, so are the stakes. With relentless twists and turns, the campmates will never know what’s coming next. They will be faced with challenges at every turn, quickly learning that with big decisions come even bigger consequences…"

There is also an exciting new twist heading for the next series, which will see the public have the power to decide who is crowned the ultimate legend 2026.

After weeks of shocks, showdowns and survival, viewers will be able to have their say and cast the final vote in a live grand final broadcast direct from London.

Speaking of the new series, Ant said: “The campmates really brought their A-game to the first series so we can’t wait to be back for more trials, challenges and surprises amongst the beautiful South African landscape.”

While Dec added: “Having a live final is an exciting addition to the new series with the viewers choosing their IAC Legend and we’ve heard some of the new trials are truly epic, even by I’m A Celeb… standards!.”

Tonight, we follow Freddie and his coaches as they start a boys’ team in Liverpool, and his first girls’ team in Blackpool. But while the girls get stuck in, the behaviour of the Liverpool lads puts the project on a decidedly sticky wicket. The result is another inspiring chapter in this BAFTA-nominated show. It’s been quite a few years since we last saw former comedy partners and presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins together on TV (although they have hosted a podcast together), so we’re delighted they’re back on prime time with a brand new series. There are plenty of quiz shows in the schedules, but there’s a major difference with this one, which poses Family Fortunes-style survey questions. It’s interactive in that viewers can play along at home, not just for their own enjoyment or to satisfy a competitive streak, but to have the chance to win the same prizes as the studio contestants. At the end of the series’ run, there’s £1 million up for grabs – which could be won by a lucky viewer!

Annika, BBC1, 9.10 pm

The plot threads involving the fractured family of DI Annika Strandhed (Nicola Walker) continue to be woven throughout this final episode in the series, revolving especially around the father figures of Magnus (Sven Henriksen) and Michael (Jamie Sives). The Marine Homicide Unit is assigned the case when a retired detective inspector dies in a houseboat fire. One of the suspects is ex-con Gary Nair (a creepy turn by Two Doors Down’s Jonathan Watson) and, as the investigation continues, it becomes more and more personal for Annika. We’re left with a brilliant cliffhanger, but it’s uncertain if it’ll be resolved as there are currently no plans for a third series…

Casualty, BBC1, 8.20pm

Armed with her biological mother’s address, tonight Nicole Piper heads to Newcastle seeking answers about why she was put into foster care as a young child. In true drama fashion, she turns up on Tina Piper’s doorstep, is mistaken for a district nurse and invited inside. But, that plot convenience aside, this is an episode worth tuning in for. Before long Nicole’s experiencing flashbacks, Tina’s rumbled her real identity and from there the shocks keep coming. A truly moving and dignified exploration into the medic’s painful past and resulting hard truths with standout performances from I, Daniel Blake’s Sammy T. Dobson and Sharon Percy.

You Bet! On Tour. OTV1, 8.15 pm

As Stephen Mulhern continues to take his game show around the UK, he finds more people ready to take on his challenges as they bid to win £5,000. As ever, there’s a celebrity panel on hand, whose task is to try to predict whether those challenges will be completed. Today, that falls to Rob Beckett, Zoe Ball and Eddie Kadi.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 1 will be available to watch for free on ITVX from October 19, it has been announced today.

Originally released in 2022 on Paramount Plus, you've previously had to pay to see the American show based on the years Captain Christopher Pike manned the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise.

It also suggests that ITVX will get more seasons for fans to enjoy.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds follows Captain Christopher Pike (played by Anson Mount) over 10 episodes.

Pike was the captain of the USS Enterprise in the 1965 pilot for the original Star Trek series, but he was replaced by William Shatner's James T Kirk.

Set 10 years before the original Star Trek, it covers the adventures of Pike and his Enterprise crew as they expedite Starfleet's mission to explore "strange new worlds throughout the galaxy".

Among his subordinates are the young, half-Vulcan science officer Spock (Ethan Peck), outstanding cadet and linguistics specialist Nyota Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), and first officer Una Chin-Riley, AKA Number One (Rebecca Romijn).

Star Anson Mount said at the time: "It was all kind of mind-boggling. I've never had a reaction like that to anything that I've done, and the results of that response have literally changed my life."

The series begins by explaining what's happened to the Discovery crew since the series-two finale. Pike, now aware that, in the future, he will be seriously disfigured, is in Montana; Spock is getting engaged on his home planet of Vulcan; and Number One is on a first-contact mission aboard the USS Archer, until her disappearance brings the crewmates back together on the Enterprise bridge.

Their new mission takes them to the planet Kiley 279, which is on the brink of civil war, and they are joined by Nurse Christine Chapel, security officer La'an Noonien-Singh, and helmsman Erica Ortegas. But will Pike's foreknowledge of his own fate embolden him to take more risks with his ship and crew?

The show has now run for three seasons, and a fourth series is on the way. It's expected to land in 2026. And it's been reported that work is even afoot for its fifth season, which will be its last.

Well, that’s the challenge facing 12 ‘honeymooners’ in this new social experiment, hosted by Davina McCall, which vows to determine whether true love can thrive in isolation (aka a secluded beach in the Philippines!). Our six newly-wed couples will each have to work together to survive – but with minimal supplies, only the clothes on their backs and exes added to the mix, you just know it won’t be plain sailing... Wednesday, Netflix

Season 2 of Tim Burton’s spooky series returns with a second serving of four episodes, picking up with Nevermore reeling from the mayhem at the psychiatric facility, Willow Hill. Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) was last seen freeing inmates before being launched through a window, while her ex, Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan), escaped in his Hyde monster form. With Wednesday in a coma and her fate on a knife-edge, can she regain control of her psychic abilities and stop the Hyde’s rampage? Lady Gaga joins in a mysterious new role that also marks the release of a new song titled Dead Dance, while Hester Frump (Dame Joanna Lumley) continues her uproarious mentorship of Wednesday.

Long Lost Family, ITV1, 9 pm

In this emotional two-parter, Davina McCall and Nicky Campbell shine a spotlight on the impact of the practices carried out in mother and baby homes in England, where many unmarried mums gave birth in the mid-20th century before their children were adopted. Among those sharing their painful memories are Jean, who, in 1956, when she was 16, had a daughter Maria, now called Cathy. After the show’s experts trace Cathy, a poignant reunion awaits. Meanwhile, siblings Viv and Julie begin a desperate bid to help mum Margaret track down their older sister. Concludes tomorrow.

MasterChef, BBC1, 8 pm

The fifth and final heat sees the hopefuls making what they can of three different secret ingredients - vanilla, cherries and almonds - in just 45 minutes. After that, the successful ones get the chance to cook a two-course meal for the three 2010 MasterChef finalists - champion Dhruv Baker and runners-up Alex Rushmer and Tim Kinnaird.

Helen Baxendale is to star in The Dark, a major new ITV1 drama based on GR Halliday’s hit debut novel, "From the Shadows".

The Cold Feet actor will be joined by The Gold's Emun Elliott as parents Bethany and Barclay Adams, whose son has gone missing.

Their lives are further tipped upside down when Detective Monica (Laura Donnelly) arrives at their door again with a case linked to their son.

The makers tease: "When the body of a young man is found eerily staged in the idyllic Scottish wilderness, detective Monica Kennedy fears this is just the beginning of a terrifying campaign that will strike the heart of a rural community.

"As paranoia rises, suspicions and secrets are forced into the light, and the locals start to realise that there is a serial killer hidden amongst them.

"With her experience of dealing with the darkest of humanity, Monica Kennedy quickly becomes entangled in a heightened game of cat and mouse with a cunning killer. Only she can stop this monster before he claims any more victims. But when her own history creeps up on her, she begins to lose trust in her own judgement. Will it be her own actions that are the biggest risk to herself and her family?”

Mark Rowley (Trigger Point, Karen Pirie) plays Detective Connor Crawford. The Dark is being filmed in and around Glasgow.

Emmerdale's Kammy seeks out Vinny's violent tormentor, Mike, in Friday's episode (ITV, 7.30pm, see our TV Guide for full listings).

Having heard it all from Vinny, Kammy wants to track down Mike.

Not about to let the homophobic catfish get away with attacking and blackmailing his best friend, Kammy is determined to make him pay.

But what's he got in mind and can the kind-hearted mechanic pull off the plan?

Having signed up to the online forum where Vinny encountered Mike, Vinny's made contact and has organised a meet-up.

But when the two men come face-to-face and Kammy reveals he's there on Vinny's behalf, how will it play out?

Elsewhere, as the wedding looms large, Gabby's down in the dumps as she's heard that neither her mum, Bernice, nor her mother-figure Kim, will be at the ceremony.

Emmerdale's Robert is accused of pushing John and Aaron off the cliff in Thursday's episode (ITV, 7.30pm, see our TV Guide for full listings).

As the clifftop plunge horror continues, Robert is in the firing line.

Having investigated the crime and heard testimonies from the likes of Chas – who is convinced Robert's jealousy has pushed him to commit the heinous crime – John's questioned.

Will the detectives listen as he tells them all he knows about John? Or has John's scheming paid off and landed his brother in the frame? Is Robert headed back inside for another lengthy stretch?

Though Kammy's been bitterly betrayed by Vinny, he's not stopped worrying about his best mate.

Putting the fact that Vinny lied and told Gabby that Kammy beat him up to one side, Kammy seeks out the Dingle.

Determined to find out what's going on, Kammy urges him to talk, aware that Vinny's been funny with him ever since he awkwardly tried to kiss him.

Unable to keep it all in any longer, sexually-confused Vinny breaks down in tears.

Slowly, Vinny gets talking, finally opening up about his torment which bought him into contact with violent homophobic catfish Mike.

Kammy reels as Vinny tells him about Mike's deception. He can't believe that someone would go so low as to pretend he's gay only to turn the situation on its head, beat Vinny to a pulp and then threaten to tell Gabby that her fiancé is gay.

Disgusted by Mike's sick and cruel behaviour, Kammy instantly forgives Vinny for using him to try to cover up the crime and urges his friend to report Mike to the police.

But the police have already come asking Vinny about Mike and he refused to engage. And he's not about to change his mind now.

Emmerdale's Robert Sugden fears Aaron's dead in Wednesday's episode (ITV, 7.30pm, see our TV Guide for full listings).

Continuing on from Monday's clifftop horror, Robert gingerly peers over the edge, praying that his beloved Aaron has survived.

But it seems as if John's crazed leap from the edge has had the desired effect. Both he and Aaron are lying lifeless on the ground.

Dialling 999, Robert summons the emergency services and tells them what he's witnessed.

But when the traumatised Sugden returns to the village, he's met with hate. Aaron's mum Chas doesn't believe a word of his 'story' and instead is convinced Robert pushed the couple in a jealous rage.

Will anyone believe innocent John?

Charity tries to hide her panic when Jacob reveals he's booked an early scan for the surrogate gran and his excited fiancée Sarah.

Secretly worried that she's carrying Ross' baby rather than Sarah and Jacob's, Charity is terrified about what the sonogram could reveal.

Later, the broody couple coo over the scan. And when Ross drops Moses back to Charity's place, he reels as Sarah proudly shows off the image.

Having sussed that his husband John is a psycho, Aaron Dingle wants out. And he wants to find his missing best mate. Mack, who he thinks is trapped somewhere in the woods.

As Aaron tries to break free of John's clutches, Robert's not far behind on a mission to save his ex from his nutter brother.

Having got John's mum's address from Pollard, Robert tears over to the cottage where a bitter confrontation blows up.

Finding Aaron gone, Robert lays into John, accusing him of murder.

Defiant, the killer paramedic floors Robert with a sucker punch. After checking he's still breathing, John legs it after his runaway husband.

As Aaron claws his way through the woods, trying to work out where Mack could be, he comes to a dead end when his search takes him to a huge gorge.

John then looms into view, covered in blood. Aaron doesn't believe a word of his explanation and as John unravels, he realises just how unhinged his husband is.

Urging John to tell him where he can find Mack, Aaron's making headway when Robert turns up and turns John's unease on its head.

Turning on Aaron, furious John rants and raves. Not about to let Robert have Aaron, John then calls the police – spinning a story to frame Robert – before leaping off the cliff with Aaron in his arms…

In the shop, Paddy shares his concerns about John with Victoria.

Lily tells David Platt she’s got a stomach ache, but he’s sceptical and sends her to school.

But Sarah’s concerned when he moans to her about how Lily’s been fighting over some lad and tried to skive off.

David’s annoyed to see that Carla’s been dumping rubbish in his bin. But he’s intrigued to find a pregnancy test. Convinced it’s Betsy’s, David shows Sarah, but when she suggests it might be Lily's, his glee turns to horror.

It’s Betsy’s 18th birthday and she’s been out all night. Arriving back for her party, drinks are poured and Betsy raises a toast to the photo of Becky on the side.

As she announces she’s off back into town with her mates, Lisa quizzes her about her social life. Pointing out she’s no longer a little girl, Bestsy reveals she slept with Dylan last night.

In the precinct, Betsy leaves a voice message for Dylan and another for Lisa but before she can finish, there’s a loud crash as a stolen car hits something and Betsy lets out a scream.

Kevin and Abi return from holiday and Kevin’s annoyed to find Carl working at the garage, saying he wants him gone by the end of the day.

Still struggling to find the money to pay off Tracy, Carl tells Brody and Dylan he’s got a job for them.

As the pair speed past George in a stolen car, George glances at the driver and is taken aback to see that it’s Dylan.

Kit reveals they’ve found the car but somebody has torched it in a bid to cover their tracks.

As our favourite culinary contest makes a welcome return, the 12 new bakers tantalising the tastebuds of judges Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith are a lovely bunch. But they are all feeling overwhelmed when they tackle their first Signature – a Swiss roll with an inlay design. Then there’s a fondant fancy Technical for which they have no recipe, they must guess the flavour and their ingredients include red herrings – Paul looks gleeful at how mean he has been! Finally, for the Showstopper, they create a landscape out of cake. But whose Bake Off journey will kick off in style as they win Star Baker and who will only be heading home?

The Great British Sewing Bee, BBC1, 9 pm

The mill’s vibe turns Hitchcockian for Movie Week as the Pattern Challenge is to recreate the jacket worn by Tippi Hedren in The Birds. Designed by Oscar-winner Edith Head, it’s ‘a terrific challenge’ says Patrick Grant because it involves one pattern for the front, back and sleeves. The Transformation is to make an after-show party outfit from cinema curtains, with one effort more suitable for an adult film, while the Made to Measure asks for a horror costume, prompting some horrified looks from Esme Young. Which sewer has performed their swansong?

The Yorkshire Vet, 5, 8 pm

It's not often that Peter Wright mentions his past working with James Herriot, so it’s a lovely reminder when he name-drops his former mentor. ‘My old boss Alf Wight used to say, “First you need to catch your patient…”’ is his advice as he tries to round up some rebel sheep with an energy that belies his 40 years in the profession, as he needs to inject them against a nasty pox called orf. Even more unpleasant is the eye infection plaguing Ozzy the llama, and Julian Norton’s surgery to tackle it is a definite look-away-now moment. Plus, a heart-warming follow-up as, after treating mountain rescue dog Kenzie for her red ear, Matt Jackson-Smith gets to help her in her training – by playing a body!

Midsomer Murders, ITV1, 8 pm

An organic bakery in the newly restored Larkton's Mill causes resentment in Lower Blissingham, with many of the old village businesses struggling, traffic having increased and rumours that owners Tom and Chrissie Larkton are planning to expand. Highwayman Inn landlady Denise Bantrig organises a protest group against the couple, and is supported by Maria, who runs the old village cafe and will not let her business go down without a fight. Their complaints are not taken too seriously until several people are dosed with a dangerous hallucinogenic at a Midsummer's Eve party, with Barnaby and Winter called in to investigate, and the situation escalates when a farmer is murdered.

I Fought the Law, ITV1, 9 pm

This compelling four-part drama recounts the by turns heartbreaking, enraging and ultimately inspirational story of Ann Ming, who campaigned for a change in the double jeopardy law that would enable her daughter’s killer to be brought to justice, having previously been acquitted. Episode 1 follows Ann’s frustration with the police when her daughter Julie, who has a three-year-old son, goes missing. What unfolds sets the Teesside mum (outstandingly played by Sheridan Smith) on a 15-year mission that will see her address the House of Lords in a bid to overturn the 800-year-old law that prevented criminals from being retried for the same offence. Continues tomorrow.

Parenthood, BBC1, 7.10 pm

We’ve reached the end of what has been a gem of a series highlighting the challenges of parenting in the animal kingdom, and the finale focuses on jungle life. While rufous-necked hornbills in Bhutan work in tandem to raise their chick, white-headed langur monkeys in China also team up to protect their troop’s young. There’s rare footage of an Amazonian tapir and her calf in Brazil on a trek to find new territory, and a cassowary dad in Australia escorts his chicks on a hunt for food and water. But your heart will be stolen by the orangutan who tries his mum’s patience in the canopy of Borneo!

King & Conqueror, BBC1, 9.10 pm

Harold (James Norton) and William tread similar but separate paths tonight, as they try to build bridges against their respective kings who want them dead. In Flanders, we get a taste of how ruthless the Duke of Normandy is prepared to be to protect his son, while the future Earl of Wessex’s most pressing concern is to recover his wife, Edith Swan-neck, from the Mercian troops who captured her. Harold launches a daring raid across the Channel to free her, yet clashes with his reckless elder brother Sweyn foreshadow the issues that will beset him in the decades to come.

Beat the Chasers, ITV1, 8 pm

There’s more perspicacious puzzling and waspish banter as another new queue of contestants step onstage with Bradley Walsh under the steely gaze of Chasers Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis, Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan, Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha and Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace. Can any of them match Londoner Jamie, who scooped a prize pot of £100,000 with just eight seconds to spare in January?

'Nothing says a relaxing holiday like a mobile homicide unit!’ Annika (Nicola Walker) is staying at a Perthshire eco resort with her father Magnus (Sven Henriksen) when he drily makes this observation following his daughter’s discovery of a body in the stream near their cabin. There are more of Annika’s to-camera eye-rolls than usual as she’s wearing a blood-pressure monitor and reckons her strained relationship with Magnus is sending the readings rocketing. Meanwhile, Morgan (Silvie Furneaux), who’s doing work experience at the resort, is keen to play happy families, but she’s still unaware that a vital piece of that particular puzzle is imminent…

Casualty, BBC1, 8.20 pm

Jan (Di Botcher) channels her inner Miss Marple as she sets out to unmask the morphine thief. We know Sunny is the culprit, but can she keep Jan, and Holby’s terrifying drug dealers, at bay by setting up pharmaceutical driver Terry (Bill Fellows) – who may prove tragically essential in bringing the city’s illegal activities to a grinding halt? If variety is the spice of life, this episode is a peppery mix of detection, deceit and, randomly, drama involving a deadly scorpion.

You Bet! on Tour, ITV1, 8 pm

Stephen Mulhern takes his popular show on the road in this new series as he travels the UK and gets people to take on more ‘brilliantly bonkers and amazing challenges’, which could see them win £5,000 as a You Bet! champion. He’ll also be joined by celebrities including Rylan Clark, Holly Willoughby, Alison Hammond, Zoe Ball and Oti Mabuse as they try to predict how each of the challenges will turn out. Tonight’s panel features Alesha Dixon, Josie Gibson and Josh Widdicombe. How accurate will their predictions be?

The Hit List, BBC1, 5.45 pm

Following a run of regular episodes, Rochelle and Marvin Humes are hosting celebrity specials of their music-based quiz, which this week sees former Boyzone star Shane Lynch and his wife Sheena White, star of the reality show The Real Housewives of Cheshire, take on Radio 1 presenters Matt Edmondson and Jeremiah Asiamah and The Great Pottery Throw Down’s Keith Brymer Jones and comedian Sophie Duker. The three teams attempt to name songs and artists in quirky rounds such as You’re the First, You’re the Last, where the title is in either the opening or last lyric of a song. The winners will get the chance to win £10,000 for their chosen charity.
