Lily tells David Platt she’s got a stomach ache, but he’s sceptical and sends her to school.

But Sarah’s concerned when he moans to her about how Lily’s been fighting over some lad and tried to skive off.

David’s annoyed to see that Carla’s been dumping rubbish in his bin. But he’s intrigued to find a pregnancy test. Convinced it’s Betsy’s, David shows Sarah, but when she suggests it might be Lily's, his glee turns to horror.

It’s Betsy’s 18th birthday and she’s been out all night. Arriving back for her party, drinks are poured and Betsy raises a toast to the photo of Becky on the side.

As she announces she’s off back into town with her mates, Lisa quizzes her about her social life. Pointing out she’s no longer a little girl, Bestsy reveals she slept with Dylan last night.

In the precinct, Betsy leaves a voice message for Dylan and another for Lisa but before she can finish, there’s a loud crash as a stolen car hits something and Betsy lets out a scream.

Kevin and Abi return from holiday and Kevin’s annoyed to find Carl working at the garage, saying he wants him gone by the end of the day.

Still struggling to find the money to pay off Tracy, Carl tells Brody and Dylan he’s got a job for them.

As the pair speed past George in a stolen car, George glances at the driver and is taken aback to see that it’s Dylan.

Kit reveals they’ve found the car but somebody has torched it in a bid to cover their tracks.

Jenny Connor is convinced that Christina is up to no good when she has a drink with George in Tuesday's episode of Coronation Street. (Airs on Tuesday, 26 August - see our TV guide for more information)

Jenny Connor is concerned that George is being too trusting with the ladies he meets online. Glenda tries to reassure her but they are both shocked when Christina arrives at the pub looking for George.

Christina reveals that Dom has died and her meeting with George is purely of a professional nature, but Jenny moans to Glenda and Brian, convinced that Christina has set her sights on George and is up to no good.

A downbeat Asha struggles with her day, knowing her brother is about to leave for a new life thousands of miles away. Having said her goodbyes, she heads out on her shift with Sienna but things take a sinister turn when she is called to a car accident. When she arrives, she recognises the car as Aadi’s! What has happened?

In the bistro, Asha loses her temper and screams at Brody for arguing with another customer. Sienna does her best to calm her down but tells her that her behaviour is unacceptable and that if she does it again she will have to report her.

Having tried but failed to open up to Dev about how she is feeling, a drunken Asha is eventually rescued by a sympathetic Lisa in The Rovers. She finally unburdens herself and tells Lisa about the woman she tried to help who verbally abused her and then assaulted her. Lisa urges her to report the incident to her manager.

Theo is shocked to bump into Noah on the street sporting a black eye. Later, he thanks Gary, Maria and Billy for their support but insists that there’s nothing that can be done about Noah as he doesn’t want to scupper his access to his kids.

Todd and Billy are appalled to see Noah and Miles handing out leaflets on the street. Billy tries to reason with Miles but can he get through him?

Tyrone admits to Carl that with Kevin away, he could do with his help at the garage. As Carl passes Victoria Garden, he watches two lads threatening Brody and demanding payment for stealing a car. Carl sends them packing whilst Brody’s left shaken.

Over a drink, Maria quizzes Gary about the attack on Noah, convinced he was responsible. But he refuses to be drawn and suggests they drop the subject.

Steve and Mary hit on a plan to make Aadi stay in Weatherfield by getting him and Amy back together. Dev agrees to help and it looks as though it might work but despite agreeing to remain friends, Aadi says he is looking forward to his new life in India.

Dev hugs him emotionally and Asha Alahan hurries out in tears. In the Rovers’ backyard, Asha struggles to breathe and is overwhelmed by a panic attack.

Asha remains in the throes of a panic attack and relives all the stress and horror of her last ambulance shift. In a flashback, we see the full horror of the day Asha has had, which has led up to the panic attack; a death, an injured old lady and finally a racist attack on her.

As Asha sits with her eyes closed, struggling to breathe, Gemma approaches and offers words of comfort as a fellow twin. She urges her to rejoin Aadi’s leaving party as he’ll be wondering where she’s gone.

Aadi finds his sister sitting on the bench and senses that she’s not herself but when she starts to open up about her awful day, Dev arrives and she clams up.

As Asha heads back into the pub, Aadi’s left concerned and offers to stay if she wants, but she brushes her problems off as tiredness.

Asha records a voice note for Aadi telling him how much she’s going to miss him, how she doesn’t think she’ll cope and begging him not to go. As her finger hovers over ‘send' she breaks down in tears. Will she send it?

When Dev catches Brody and Dylan stealing people’s drinks, he throws them out of the pub. As the pair scarper, Tim wonders what’s going on. Dev explains how Brody ruined Aadi’s house party by turning up with drugs and now he’s tried to ruin Aadi’s leaving party.

Sally and Tim tell Brody that social services called and Joanie is going to stay with her Aunt for the time being. They then discuss Brody and realise he needs their support more than ever.

At No.13 Carl’s taken aback when Abi suggests they should start a new life in Germany. Later, Abi finds Tracy in the café and explains how she never meant to fall for Carl, it just happened and the last thing she wants to do is hurt Kevin.

Theo hides his annoyance when Gemma reveals that she’s hosting birthday drinks in memory of her brother Paul and Todd will be there with Billy.

Todd returns home to find Theo cooking a curry and when he reveals he is going out to the pub, Theo emotionally blackmails him to stay in, explaining he is worried about his kids.

Emmerdale's Robert lets rip in Friday’s episode (ITV1, 7.30pm, see our TV Guide for full listings).

There’s certainly no love lost between Robert and John Sugden. The half-brothers — one who’s currently married to Aaron and one who previously was — have made no secret of their distaste for each other, even if their sibling Victoria wishes they’d be friends. At best, they have an uneasy truce, with both dialling down their hostilities of late. But that could be something to do with the fact that Robert thinks John bumped Nate off, while John is aware of Robert being in cahoots with Kim over the sale of Annie’s Field.

Always eager for everyone to get along, Vic persuades Robert to spend some time with his nephew Harry. When John spies his husband and brother chatting in the cafe, the green-eyed monster rears its ugly head again and, aware of Vic’s suggestion, the killer formulates another way to make mischief.

And at Keeper’s Cottage, as Harry enthusiastically plays the drums for his uncle, the noise reignites Robert’s PTSD from prison. Losing his temper, he shouts at Harry just as John walks in. Much to John’s delight and Robert’s distress, it’s him the upset youngster clings to, and he revels in telling Aaron what happened later.

Meanwhile, with the joy of her 16^th birthday now feeling like a distant memory, April is feeling the pressure. Terrified of Ray, who’s manipulated her into agreeing to do the drug drop off, worried about letting Dylan down and concerned about betraying the trust her dad has in her, April has a big decision to make.

And as the excitement about her pregnancy builds around her, Charity’s fears increase.

Life hasn’t been kind to Sarah Sugden. She’s living with a life-limiting disease, and although she had successful cancer surgery, her chances of carrying her own child were dashed after she underwent an emergency hysterectomy.

So, when her gran offered to be a surrogate – using Sarah’s previously harvested eggs which were fertilised with Jacob’s sperm – Sarah couldn’t have been happier.

But their joy soon turned to sadness because of Charity’s bleed after suffering a fall.

However, with Mack now changing his mind about the whole process, when Cain offers to secretly fund another embryo transfer, the mission to make Sarah a mum is back on.

At the clinic, Charity is asked to do a pregnancy test – standard procedure - and no one is more surprised than her when the result is positive. Happy Sarah can’t wait to announce the news in the pub, but Charity isn’t in the mood to celebrate. What could she possibly be hiding?

Meanwhile, April horrified when she discovers that Dylan is still mixed up with Ray. Despite her misgivings, she says it’s OK for him to do the next job. But she’s shocked when he reveals that Ray’s plan is for her to actually do the drug drop. Manipulated by the dealer into going ahead with it, April only agrees if it means Dylan will stop working for Ray. As Marlon decides to trust his daughter’s decision making, will she risk breaking his trust?

Emmerdale's Cain issues a stern warning to Kammy in Wednesday’s episode (ITV1, 7.30pm, see our TV Guide for full listings).

Stronger since telling her jailed husband Tom that she wants a divorce, Belle has bided her time before thinking about starting another relationship, with the wounds of her coercive marriage still so raw. And although Nicola persuaded her to get on the dating apps, when Kammy popped up and Nicola swiped right on his profile, Belle told a disappointed Kammy it was a mistake.

Understandably over-protective of his half-sister, when Cain gets wind of what’s happened, he can’t help wondering if there’s more between the two than just an accidental action on the app, so he warns his employee off.

But mortified by Cain’s reaction, Belle hesitantly tells the young mechanic she’s not interested. Lydia thinks Belle might be protesting too much, but will she give Kammy a chance?

Elsewhere, as April’s 16^th birthday approaches, she and her dad have different ideas about how to celebrate. The teenager makes it clear to Dylan that she wants to sleep with him for the first time and the pair are later rumbled by Mandy who catches them just after the act.

Marlon’s disappointed when he hears and it’s Rhona who has to talk him down. But Dylan’s got more worries on his plate when Ray gets in touch, asking for his help with a job. And Ray’s not someone you say no to.

Meanwhile, after all the drama following Charity’s fall, Mack changes his tune and says she can try again with another embryo transfer for Sarah, and Sarah’s overjoyed when Cain offers to cough up the funds using a secret stash he’s kept hidden from Moira.

Vinny’s actions have devastating consequences in Tuesday’s episode of Emmerdale (ITV1, 7.30pm, see our TV Guide for full listings).

Confused about his feelings for Gabby and unsure of his own sexuality, Vinny was relieved when he was able to talk to Aaron about some of the issues he’s been dealing with. After his former brother-in-law said it was normal to have doubts before getting married, Vinny confessed to kissing someone else, although he didn’t admit it was a man. Looking for more answers, he fired up his laptop and started scrolling.

Finding himself on an online forum, he began chatting to Mike, and their digital conversation led to them meeting up in the nearby countryside. Getting on in real life as well as they did on the internet, aside from the odd difficult question, they agreed to meet up again.

Back home, when Gabby tells her fiancé she’s spending the night at a spa, Vinny receives an urgent message from Mike. Turning up on his doorstep unannounced, Mike tells Vinny he’s been kicked out by his partner. After Mike hints at an attraction between them, Vinny is taken aback, denying he feels the same. Wondering what’s going on, Vinny is then horrified when Mike’s behaviour suddenly takes a dark turn, and he becomes terrifyingly aggressive. Meanwhile, when Gabby can’t find her phone and thinks she’s left it at home, she considers heading back to look for it. Will she return to save Vinny before it’s too late?

Elsewhere, after being arrested for ABH and spending a night in the cells, Ruby and Manpreet must decide whether they’re able to put the past events behind them.

And the reason for Steph’s departure from the village suddenly become clear…

Never one to pull any punches, Emmerdale's Ruby has something to get off her chest in Monday’s episode (ITV1, 7.30pm, see our TV Guide for full listings).

Having a bee in her bonnet about what she saw the day before, Ruby heads over to the surgery to confront Manpreet, who’s left embarrassed after Ruby’s harsh words. With unfinished business, she makes her way to the Depot, where Ruby is working after offering to cover for Caleb, who’s sure he’s left the place in safe hands.

Not interested in what Manpreet has to say, Ruby brushes her aside, so the doc hijacks a forklift and refuses to back down until Ruby hears her out. Bringing up her dalliance with Cain, Ruby isn’t bothered. But when Manpreet mentions Steph, it touches a nerve and the defensive mum lashes out. And with neither woman willing to back down, the police are called!

Elsewhere, still confused about his sexuality and having looked for answers about his feelings online, Vinny got chatting to Mike on a digital forum. Arranging to meet up, the pair appear to be getting on well, but Vinny’s momentarily thrown when Mike asks outright if the scrap metal dealer is gay. Deciding to meet up again, Vinny’s further conflicted when he later shares a passionate snog with Gabby.

And Nicola signs Belle up to a dating up. When she swipes right on Kammy’s profile, Belle is mortified and apologises to him, blaming Nicola, as he masks his disappointment that Belle didn’t willingly choose him.

At No.6, Carla Connor excitedly takes delivery of the engagement ring. She then calls at the Rovers and, handing the engagement ring to Glenda, asks her to slip it into Lisa’s glass of champagne when she arrives.

Carla calls Lisa at work and insists that they meet in the Rovers for a drink. Will Lisa guess what is going on?

When Hope announces that she is still going to post the pic on her social media, Abi tells Carl to go to number 9 and find the phone before Hope gets it.

Meanwhile, Steve wakes up and can’t find Dorin as everyone panics that he might have climbed into an old fridge that has been taken away.

Steve settles himself down in front of the telly and promises to keep an eye on Dorin. At the garage, Cassie teases Tyrone over Hope’s photo of his bum.

But Abi panics when Kevin asks to see the photo and suggests that Tyrone should return the phone to Hope.

Tyrone agrees to return Hope’s phone and let her attend the gig with Jack if she deletes the picture of his backside.

Wanting to spend more time with Laila, Dee-Dee tells Adam that she’d like to go part-time and he should consider employing Alya to take up the slack.

Ronnie confides in Glenda that he’s discovered there’s a dementia choir based at the community centre and he’s considering booking it for the wedding.

Theo pleads with Gary Windass to stay away from Noah as he doesn’t want anything to jeopardise him getting access to his kids, but Gary won’t be deterred and calls at the community centre, intent on confronting Noah.

Maria is bemused when she sees on her tracker that Gary is at the community centre and decides to go and look for him. Will she be able to prevent the oncoming attack?

Having received a text from Carl, Abi feigns a migraine and tells Kevin she needs to go home. But at number 13, guilt gets the better of her and Carl suggests they go for a drive.

In the precinct, Tyrone spots Carl in his car. He quickly jumps out and heads over while Abi sinks down in the passenger seat. But has she already been spotted?

At No.6, Lisa wonders what they’re whispering about when Carla checks the post and confides in Ryan that she’s waiting for an engagement ring.

Lisa shows Carla a jewellery website and reveals her plan to have a ring made for Betsy’s 18th birthday incorporating Becky’s fingerprints.

Fiz finds it hard to hide her annoyance when Tyone says Steve can move in with Cassie. Meanwhile, Tyrone is less than impressed when Fiz says that Hope can go to a local festival with Jack Webster.

Bernie tries to persuade Dev to give Brody a job at the shop but when Aadi realises what is going on he drops Brody in it and reveals that he was the one who brought the drugs to the party.

At No.7, Bernie tells Dev that they should postpone their honeymoon and he should use the time to build bridges with Aadi. Dev agrees but insists that Bernie must go alone as the rest will do her good. Bernie is touched and kisses him tenderly.

Theo Silverton is devastated when Todd shows him a photo of Theo’s family on a leaflet promoting "Traditional Family Values" at Noah’s church.

He stands Todd up for a lunch date, and in a fit of rage, he trashes the builder's yard. Gary returns and is horrified by what he sees, but is this just the beginning of Theo’s downward spiral?

Amy finds a desolate Aadi on the bench in Victoria Garden. She pulls him in for a hug and assures him that he’s a lovely guy and she knows he never meant to harm.

Back at No.1, Aadi admits to Amy that he wishes they were more than friends and the pair kiss passionately when she admits that she feels the same way.

As a post-coital Aadi and Amy head back towards No.7, Jess approaches and tells Aadi that she’s taking him in for questioning.

Carla and Lisa attend a life drawing class together but the evening is brought to a halt with another Betsy drama.

At the factory, Betsy reluctantly shows Carla the vest tops she’s been working on and how she inadvertently printed the wrong logo on them. How will Carla react?

Later, Ryan is thrilled when Carla confides that she’s going to propose to Lisa.

Steve calls at the flower shop with Cassie in tow and reveals that his solicitor has received a copy of the Preston Petals valuation and he wants what’s rightfully his. Tracy’s fuming and is certain Amy is behind the email.

At No.1, Steve packs his bag and announces that he’s moving out until the divorce comes through as he’s sick of the infighting.

At No.11, George shows Glenda his new clothes and sheepishly admits he’s agreed to a date with a lady called Samantha.

Samantha and Glenda are taken aback to recognise each other from primary school and as they excitedly pull each other in for a hug, George is forced to take a back seat.

There's a superb season of Autumn TV playing out for the rest of 2025. It's an important time for telly fans after the summer holidays are over and they focus on what great television is in store during the Fall and run-up to Christmas.

Riot Women (BBC One and BBC iPlayer)

The six-parter Riot Women is by Happy Valley and Gentleman Jack writer Sally Wainwright follows a group of spirited middle-aged Yorkshire women who form a punk-rock band for a local talent contest. As their musical endeavours give them all a new lease of life, a revelation comes to the fore causes huge trouble. Lorraine Ashbourne, Joanna Scanlan, Amelia Bullmore, Rosalie Craig and Tamsin Greig play the band members. Do also look out for veteran stars Anne Reid and Sue Johnston.

I Fought The Law (ITV1 and ITVX)

Sheridan Smith stars in I Fought The Law, which is an emotional four-part drama based on the true story of Ann Ming, who campaigned to change the Double Jeopardy law, which had prevented someone from being tried twice for the same crime, following her daughter’s brutal murder. Julie, 22, had gone missing in November 1989 in Billingham, Cleveland, and her body was found hidden under the bath in her home.

Her murderer, William Dunlop, was wrongfully acquitted but, years later, confessed to the crime. Thanks to Ann’s tireless campaigning, the 800-year-old legislation was overturned and Dunlop was jailed for life. Daniel York Loh plays Anne’s late husband Charlie Ming.

The Guest (BBC One and BBC iPlayer)

Torchwood and Keeping Faith star Eve Myles plays business owner Fran, who recruits Ria (Gabrielle Creevy) as a cleaner in four-part thriller The Guest. The duo become friends when Fran helps Ria to decide what she really wants from life, but things go wrong after Fran’s advice leads to a devastating incident and the women are drawn into a chilling plot. Emun Elliott and Sion Daniel Young co-star.

Trespasses (Channel 4)

Set in 1975 against the turbulent backdrop of all the Troubles in Northern Ireland, this four-parter follows star-crossed lovers Cushla (Lola Petticrew), a spirited Catholic schoolteacher, and Michael (Tom Cullen), a controversial married barrister, as they embark on a passionate but dangerous liaison. Gillian Anderson plays Cushla’s eccentric mother, Gina.

The Forsytes (5)

Based on the classic Forsyte Saga novels by John Galsworthy, six-part period drama The Forsytes is set in the late Victorian era and follows the lives a well-to-do family of stockbrokers, as they wrestle with who’ll take over the family firm. Joshua Orpin plays Soames Forsyte and Millie Gibson is his dancer bride Irene (see pictured above), while Francesca Annis is matriarch Ann, alongside a strong supporting cast that includes Stephen Moyer, Tuppence Middleton, Eleanor Tomlinson and Jack Davenport.

King & Conqueror (BBC One and BBCIplayer)

This epic eight-part period drama King & Conqueror follows the Norman conquest of Britain, one of the most decisive historical events in our history, after the infamous Battle of Hastings in 1066. Harold of Wessex (James Norton) and William of Normandy (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) began as allies but ended up bitter enemies as they fought for control of the British throne. Emily Beecham plays Edith Swan Neck, the wife of Harold while Clémence Poésy is William’s wife, Matilda. Eddie Marsan, Claire Holman, Juliet Stevenson, Joseph Mawle, Elliot Cowan and Jean-Marc Barr also star.

The Death of Bunny Munro (Sky Atlantic and NOW)

The Death of Bunny Munro is a drama starring former Doctor Who star Matt Smith, which is based on Nick Cave's book about a father/son road trip. After the suicide of his wife Libby, sex addict and lothario Bunny finds himself the sole carer of his nine-year-old son Bunny Junior (Rafael Mathé), with very little idea of how to parent.

As the pair embark on a road trip across southern England, Bunny Junior starts to unravel as a result of his grief. Both are dealing with their grief in very different ways. While older Bunny tries to bed every woman he can, Bunny Junior spends his time talking to his mother’s ghost and trying to distract himself from the fact his dad is a chaotic mess. As Bunny Junior starts to spiral, Bunny realises he must do something to rescue his son from his own outdated notions of what it is to be a man.

Coldwater (ITV1 and ITVX)

Coldwater sees Andrew Lincoln play John, a stay-at-home dad struggling to cope when a violent incident in a playground leaves him so troubled that he and wife Fiona (Indira Varma) decide to move their family to the (fictional) titular Scottish village to start over. The Woman in Cabin 10 (Netflix)

Based on the bestseller The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware this one-off thriller follows a journalist, played by Keira Knightley (above), who is given the travel assignment of a lifetime when she's asked to cover the maiden voyage of a luxury cruise liner, which then sets sail. Then, late one night, she witnesses a passenger tossed overboard and tries to raise the alarm. However, she is told she must have dreamed it because all passengers are safe and accounted for.

Yet despite no one believing her, she continues to search for the truth, even if it means putting her own life in danger. Adapted from the 2003 novel Down Cemetery Road by Mick Herron, who is also the author of Slow Horses, this eight-episode thriller stars Ruth Wilson as Sarah Tucker, who asks private eye Zoë Boehm (Dame Emma Thompson) to help find a child she suspects has vanished in Oxford, UK, but a complex conspiracy unfolds.

Atomic (Sky Atlantic)

Atomic is an intense five-part thriller stars Alfie Allen as drug-smuggler Max and mysterious Mohammed (Shazad Latif) who find themselves flung together and caught up in a sinister terrorist plot to steal uranium to build an atomic weapon. The pair must decide whether to save themselves or save humanity and must also avoid CIA agent Cassie Elliot (played by Samira Wiley) who is hot on their heels.

The Thursday Murder Club (Netflix)

The movie adaptation of Richard Osman’s 2020 novel The Thursday Murder Club boasts a killer cast as four pensioners-turned-amateur sleuths create cosy chaos in their retirement village. Ex-spy Elizabeth (Dame Helen Mirren), former union activist Ron (Pierce Brosnan), retired psychiatrist Ibrahim (Sir Ben Kingsley) and ex-nurse Joyce (Celia Imrie) meet weekly to discuss cold cases. But when a murder occurs on their doorstep, the quirky quartet becomes embroiled in a real whodunnit. David Tennant, Richard E. Grant, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie and Tom Ellis star, while Harry Potter’s Chris Columbus directs. ‘It’s a dream to see this book in such incredible hands,’ says Osman. ‘What a cast! In turmoil about his sexuality, Vinny has struggled about his true feelings for fiancée Gabby. His relationship with first wife, Liv, wasn’t a conventional one. And after she died, he didn’t think he’d ever have feelings for anyone else — until he got together with Gabby.

The businesswoman is head over heels in love with Vinny and the one who moved their relationship forward fairly swiftly. But there’s always been that nagging feeling that something wasn’t quite right.

And when Vinny developed an attraction towards his pal Kammy and planted a smacker on him, he finally realised that he needed to understand his sexuality.

Having put her granddaughter’s dream of being a mother above everything else, Charity offered to be a surrogate for Sarah after Sarah’s hopes were dashed about carrying a baby herself following emergency surgery.

Even though the teen has a life-limiting illness, such was her desire to have a child of her own that Charity put all other thoughts aside and offered herself up to carry Sarah and Jacob’s baby.

However, following a tumble while walking in the woods with Mack earlier this week, the landlady started bleeding, and she had to decide whether to shatter Sarah’s dreams by telling her what had happened.

Despite the fall being a freak accident, Charity blames herself. And despite not previously having Mack’s full support about the surrogacy, he’s on hand to try to cheer his wife up. But she’s struggling and not taking his offer of help well.

Meanwhile, after his heart-to-heart with Aaron, Vinny decides he needs to understand why he’s feeling the way he does. He’s sure there must be some answers online and he begins scouring the internet for any clues about his sexuality. But will the scrap dealer find what he wants by scrolling various websites?

Elsewhere, Dylan continues to ignore Ray, but what will the consequences be if the drug dealer grows impatient?

And Vanessa and Manpreet bond over the state of their love lives.

Confiding in the truth to Vanessa, will the surrogate spoil her granddaughter's big night by telling her she might not be able to make her dreams come true, after all?

Away from the revelry, when Ruby, Manpreet and Lewis share a gossipy lunch together, talk soon turns to their love lives. But when the tables turn and she's given a grilling about her own conquests, the doctor must decide whether to be honest about her bedroom antics with Ross in front of Steph’s mum.

Still trying to convince himself he’s over his "wobble", Vinny is given more food for thought when Aaron opens up about sharing a kiss with his ex-husband on his wedding day to John.

Noticing his reaction, the mechanic reassures his former brother-in-law that most people have doubts before getting hitched, Vinny then admits he tries to kiss someone else. What will Aaron advise?

After kissing Kammy, the mechanic was absolutely fine about the incident and brushed it off. But Vinny hasn’t stopped playing the moment over and over in his head, wondering why it happened and what it means.

When Laurel overheard he and Kammy discussing Vinny’s commitment to marrying Gabby, she urged him to be honest. But when his fiancée collapsed just before their engagement party, he was terrified he’d lost her and, having been through that once before, he decided to go ahead with the wedding.

But when talking about Gabby’s "wedmin" with Mandy, he finds it hard to maintain enthusiasm to the oblivious beautician. And when Kammy presents him with a watch for his wedding, he can’t stop staring at his friend, with anything but just friendly thoughts.

Elsewhere, having managed to secretly make the drug drop, Dylan tells Ray that’s the last job he’s doing for him. But it seems Ray has other ideas.

Meanwhile, discussing the apparently reformed youngster in the Woolie, the penny finally drops for Paddy, Rhona and Marlon, who realise that Dylan was the person Kyle stabbed. Will Moira learn the truth?

And, when Ross and Steph wake up together, she asks him if he’s been with anyone else since their split.

And a walk in the woods proves dangerous when Charity takes a tumble while out with Mack. Telling herself she’s OK and no harm done, she decides not to tell Sarah about the fall.

An unexpected saviour comes to Emmerdale's Dylan’s rescue in Monday’s episode (ITV1, 7.30pm, see our TV Guide for full listings).

April may have made an uneasy truce over Dylan with her dad Marlon, who only had his daughter’s best interests at heart. But with the wayward lad back in the village, the troubled teen only has eyes for him.

With the wound Dylan sustained breaking into Butler’s Farm now infected, he and April sneak into the vets in the hope of secretly cleaning him up.

But when they're suddenly interrupted by a shocked Paddy, the pair are terrified by what he might do next.

However, they’re both relieved that the kindly vet offers to patch him up and even gives Dylan a bed for the night after learning he’s homeless — although he’s unaware he’s in cahoots with Ray. Fortunately, no one spots the bag of drugs in his rucksack that he’s agreed to deliver for the dodgy dealer.

Elsewhere, still in the dark about his husband’s killer past, Aaron is skeptical when John tries to persuade him to go easy on his brother, Robert. After a somewhat strange encounter at the shop, when his ex-husband suggests he’s thinking of leaving, Aaron's response gives Robert hope for the future. But what is he really up to?

And after playing matchmaker, Lewis joins forces with Ruby to persuade her daughter to give her relationship with Ross another go. The cafe co-owner spies the perfect opportunity to give the pair a nudge in the right direction after her car breaks down and she needs a lift to her therapy session and presents Ross as her knight in shining armour.

A drunk Aadi Alahan is knocking back booze in Victoria Gardens and ignoring Lauren’s calls. She finally tracks him down at home, and Aadi decides it is time to confess about what really happened at the party.

When Dev and Bernie arrive home, they are horrified as Aadi decides to come clean to them too.

Gary offers to run Theo home when Theo takes a call that the social worker has arrived. But as the pair approach the van, they find a drunken Aadi leaning against it. Theo tries to gently steer him away, but he falls and bangs his head.

Theo heads off to the meeting, leaving Gary and Dev to deal with Aadi. But he’s shocked when Jess approaches and tells him there’s been a report of an incident at the precinct and he needs to answer some questions.

Billy calls at the flat and tells Todd he has seen Theo being taken off in a police car. When the social worker explains that they’ll have to reschedule the meeting and check out if Theo’s crime is of a violent nature, like the last time, Todd is perplexed and decides to try and find out more.

Ken, Steve, Amy, Cassie and Tracy sit down to an awkward family tea. Steve’s relieved when Tracy suggests that for Amy’s sake they should keep their divorce amicable but Amy’s suspicious of her Mum’s motives.

Kit asks Sarah to join him and Brody for lunch in the cafe to get to know him better but things don’t quite go quite to plan.

In the Rovers, Glenda urges George to join a dating app and stop pining for Eileen, but they’re interrupted by Jenny who reveals that there’s a burst pipe at the Kabin.

Jenny thanks George for fixing her leaky pipe and offers to cook him dinner. Later, she masks her disappointment when Glenda reveals that she’s set George up on a dating app and he’s already had some interest.

Back at the bistro, Debbie entertains the wedding guests by singing "Hopelessly Devoted" to You and proposing to Ronnie!

Eventually Bernie returns to the Bistro and walks down the aisle with Kit. With the service about to start, Dev and Bernie share loving looks, but suddenly Bernie struggles to breathe and collapses in front of a shocked Dev.

As Bernie lies on the bistro floor, gasping for breath, Asha comes to her aid while Gemma calls an ambulance and Dev and the wedding guests watch helplessly.

At No.5, Chesney notices the livestream has cut out just as an ambulance passes by. Will they get to Bernie in time?

At the bistro, the wedding guests survey the untouched buffet, wondering what to do, when suddenly Asha arrives and announces that Dev wants the family at the hospital.

At No.13, Abi makes out to Kevin that she’s got a stomach bug and he’ll have to attend the wedding on his own. She then meets up with Carl in his hotel bedroom and admits she feels terrible for lying to Kevin.

Carl pulls her into a passionate embrace but how will she explain herself when Kevin returns home to find her dressed up to the nines?

Abi sneaks out to the ginnel to find Carl waiting for her. When he reiterates that he meant everything he said and he wants to be with her, Abi can’t help but grin.

Theo is not impressed when Todd chooses to spend time with Summer over a night out with him. At No.11, Summer invites Theo to join her and Todd for pizza in front of the telly, but he refuses and announces he’s going to the pub.

In The Rovers, Abi Webster covers for Kevin and tells everyone he has been given the all clear. But as everyone congratulates him, she sneaks out for some afternoon delight with Carl at the hotel.

Meanwhile, Kevin confides to Debbie that he feels he is losing Abi. At the hotel, Abi sees a message on Carl’s phone from Fiona, and she’s shocked when Carl confesses that he’s been doing illegal MOTs, amongst other dodgy deals, and he’s conducted the whole thing from Kevin’s garage. How will she react?

Abi returns home to be faced with an excited Kevin and Jack, who reveal that Debbie’s booked them a holiday in Mallorca as a treat. Will she agree to go?

When Abi tells him about Carl’s MOT scam, she’s horrified to realise Kevin already knew about it. Debbie finds Abi on Maxine’s bench and urges her to think long and hard about her marriage because nobody could love her more than Kevin does.

Abi pays Carl a visit at the hotel, wanting to know why he failed to tell her that Kevin was aware of the MOT scam. When Carl reveals that Kevin agreed not to report him on condition he didn’t tell her that he’d had the all clear from cancer, Abi’s fuming to realise Kevin’s still lying to her. Has Kevin pushed her into Carl’s arms once more?

Having saved money buying cheap suits for Dev and Aadi, Bernie is having a low-key hen do in the bistro when word reaches the hens that the boys have hired a pole dancer at the Rovers. Bernie’s furious and hurries out. She storms into the Rovers to find the stags cheering on the pole dancer!

One by one the hens leave the Bistro to look for Bernie. Eventually Aunty Rani ends up in the pub but how will she react to what she discovers there?

As Ryan helps Carla and Lisa pack up the flat, he describes his new living arrangement and his weird flatmate. Carla feels sorry for him and Lisa’s left thoughtful.

Later, Ryan arrives carrying his rucksack and Carla is touched when Lisa explains that she asked Ryan to move in with them.

Over a curry, Kit learns more about Brody and is upset to hear about how bad his upbringing was. Wanting to help his son, Kit swerves Dev’s stag do and takes Brody to the match instead.

Meanwhile, Sally and Tim are shocked to discover that Joanie has old bruises on her arm and feel duty bound to let social services know.

An excited Todd tells Theo that the corner shop flat is up for rent. George admits to Todd that he’ll miss him when he moves out. In a bid to cheer him up, Todd suggests they go to Dev’s do and Theo covers his irritation.

At the stag do,Todd has a go on the pole and an angry Theo feigns a headache and insists they go home.

Having played DI Robbie Ross in the popular Scottish detective series Taggart for 13 years, actor John Michie found it a little odd being on the other side of a police interrogation for his latest role in ITV1's Karen Pirie season 2.

"Interviewing as a cop, you're just asking factual questions like 'Where were you on Thursday?'. So it's very strange being questioned but I enjoyed it as that's where acting is full of subtext; it’s all about what you’re not saying," ex-Holby City and Coronation Street star John, 68, says as he joins us for an exclusive chat about this Sunday’s second episode of Karen Pirie, in which he plays Fergus Sinclair, a shady businessman connected to the 1984 kidnap of oil heiress Catriona Grant (Julia Brown) and her son Adam.

Suspecting that whoever kidnapped the pair - the daughter and grandson of oil tycoon Sir Broderick ‘Brodie’ Grant (James Cosmo) - were paid, Karen (Lauren Lyle) turns her attention to Brodie’s right-hand man, Fergus, who was having an affair with Cat and is Adam’s real father. As Karen visits Fergus at Grant Operations, she’s convinced he’s hiding something. John tells us more…

How would you describe Fergus and his relationship to the Grant family?

John Michie: "Fergus is an ambitious businessman driven by money and power. In flashback, we learn young Fergus (Outlander’s Jack Stewart) was in awe of Brodie and somewhat dominated by him. Fergus’s affair with Cat was initially very passionate but didn’t develop into something more because Brodie demanded that all Fergus’s energy went to the company and not his daughter. So Fergus agreed to cover up his relationship with Cat and the fact he’s Adam’s dad for the benefit of the business."

Does Fergus feel guilty over how he handled things in 1984?

John: "For decades, Fergus has been in absolute denial about being Adam’s father - but he begins to crack emotionally and has a bit of an internal breakdown where he thinks. ‘What have I done with my life’? He’s full of regret and determined to right the wrongs of the past."

Suspicious of Fergus’s involvement in the kidnap, DI Karen Pirie pays him a visit…

John: "Fergus finds Karen disarming and is slightly unnerved that she’s a young woman doing this job; in many ways, she reminds him of Cat. As a canny businessman, Fergus is used to keeping a straight face but there's something about him that Karen picks up on. He's aware of her calculated gaze towards him, and realises this chat might not go the way he wants it to."

Did you enjoy returning to your native Scotland to film Karen Pirie?

John: "Oh, I always look for any excuse to go back! I’m from Edinburgh but Glasgow’s my favourite city, probably as I spent 13 years there doing Taggart - I’m sure the building we used for Grant Operations I’d once filmed in for Taggart. I still get recognised as Robbie and, yes, people often ask me to say: ‘There’s been a murder!’ I loved working with Lauren and the cast and going out in Glasgow with them. One night, we all went to a bar in Finnieston and had a fine time - I can't say more than that!"

What does the Scottish landscape add to crime dramas like Karen Pirie?

John: "As well as Scotland being stunningly beautiful, there can be a ghostly feel to it. There's lots of history and sadness behind the dramatic landscape, which creates an emotive setting for these dramas. What makes Karen Pirie different, though, is that this DI is a young woman, up against the patriarchy. Then there’s our fascination with cold cases; that, 40 years on, the bad guys are going to get caught."

What are your own memories of the 1980s?

"The miners’ strike of that decade was an interesting time, politically. My wife Carolyn, who I met in 1987, is from a mining village in Yorkshire and I remember the devastation of the pits closing overnight and miners suddenly having no work. In the early 1980s, I spent time in New York, at iconic music venues like Studio 54. It was a memorable decade for me - though I’m pleased to say I never had a bad mullet haircut!"

Dillon Ray (Nathaniel Dass) makes a shocking admission in tonight’s Hollyoaks on at 7pm (See our TV Guide for full listings).

After finding his son's boyfriend Dillon on a dating app, Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) confronts him about his antics. A spiralling Dillon confesses that he's self-sabotaging, but insists he never met anyone and only chatted online.

Ste urges him to be honest with Lucas (Oscar Curtis), but when Dillon eventually opens up to him, he lashes out in pain.

There's tension when Dillon and Lucas bump into Clare Devine-Banks (Gemma Bissix) and Grace Black (Tamara Wall) at The Hutch.

Dillon is hopeful about his future with Lucas as he thanks Ste for his advice and support. However, Dillon drops a bombshell on Ste — that he has feelings for him! Will Lucas find out about Dillon's secret love for his dad?

Meanwhile, Lucas storms into Grace's flat fuelled with rage and demands a confession. Lucas' anger spirals out of control as he smashes up the place, but will Grace and Clare give him the justice he needs?

Elsewhere, Dodger Savage (Danny Mac) focuses on uncovering the truth behind his brother Dennis’s (Joe Tracini) death.

Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) is shocked when Dodger agrees to grab a drink with Clare and brushes off her protests as he's sick of the family drama.

Todd grits his teeth and attends the restorative justice session with Noah. With the session over and having listened to enough of Noah’s goading, Todd hurries out.

Realising he forgot his jacket, he goes back to the community centre in time to overhear Noah on the phone to Danielle and is shocked to realise they’re an item.

As Danielle joins Theo Silverton and the kids at the bistro, a seething Todd reveals Danielle’s got a new boyfriend and it happens to be Noah.

Danielle’s mortified whilst Theo reels. Miles rounds on Todd and tries to punch him, but Theo blocks his path and accidentally strikes Miles, sending him sprawling to the ground.

Ed insists the family sit down for breakfast and clear the air. Later, as James looks after Laila, he takes a call and confirms that he’s still very much interested in the job. His bags packed, is James leaving with or without Laila?

Abi paints on a smile for Jack’s sake, while Carl doubles down and tells Abi that she’s doing the right thing by staying with Kevin and it’s best if they keep their distance from now on.

Lisa admits she skipped her therapy and instead visited Becky’s grave as tomorrow would have been their anniversary.

Sam opens up to Toyah about his anxiety and his recent panic attacks.

As Abi confronts Kevin, he tells her how sorry he is, explaining he couldn’t cope with losing her and thought that by lying about his cancer it would stop her from leaving him for Carl.

Asserting that she can’t bear to look at him, an emotional Abi heads out and straight into Carl’s arms. As she declares that she’s done with Kevin, the pair kiss passionately.

Todd and Theo head off to view a flat in town but they’re thwarted when the car breaks down.

Bernie and Aadi mask their unease when Dev reveals that Aunty Rani is coming to the wedding and she’ll want to see her money being put to good use.

With Lily and Sam at Eco Club, Nick and Toyah are pleased to think they’ve buried the hatchet. But as Sam scoffs at Lily’s poster, he tells her that there have been six burglaries in the area and the burglars move the furniture about.

Lily returns home to find the door ajar and when she sees the furniture has been moved she screams in terror.

James is worried as the facilitator arrives for the meeting regarding the Special Guardianship Order. Will Dee-Dee show up?

Thinking that the fake confession from the dead man would put an end to the investigation and start the healing process for the grieving Dingles, the secret murderer learns he's overestimated things.

At first, John is thrilled when Owen's 'suicide note' and 'confession' are found and taken seriously, but he is then shocked when he runs into Cain and discovers the dad is still totally churned up and that the confession has only made things worse, not better.

As John pretends to be shocked by the news that Owen 'killed' Nate, things are really kicking off between Cain and his best mate and local GP Liam, who found Owen dead.

Cain wants answers about the man who is meant to have murdered his son, but ever the professional, Liam refuses to break doctor-patient confidentiality, leaving Cain fuming.

Having lost a child himself, Liam understands what his friend is going through - but that is only the start of the drama John has caused, and soon Robert starts to smell a rat once again.

As the rest of the village reels over Owen's 'confession', Robert finds the whole thing odd, especially when Owen was the one who recently tried to date rape him, only for John to save him from the ordeal.

Robert gets more suspicious when he discovers John was at Owen's house just before he died - plus he meets with Owen's brother, who says his sibling had a rock-solid alibi for the day that Nate was killed.

Soon, Robert is putting two and two together and finally getting four, and heads to the police with his findings... but will they believe what he is telling them?

Could this be the moment evil John's reign of terror is finally brought to a close?

Emmerdale legend Emma Atkins has teased a potential reunion for fan-favourite couple Charity Dingle and Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick).

Although it's been five years since Charity and Vanessa aka 'Vanity' split up, Emmerdale fans have been hoping to see the former couple rekindle their romance.

Charity and Vanessa's unexpected relationship began after a surprise kiss in 2017, which led to them getting engaged. However, their engagement was short-lived as Charity cheated on Vanessa with her now-husband Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and destroyed everything.

Now, Vanessa has been re-entering the family dynamic after Charity's granddaughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) confided in her that she wanted to try and have a baby through IVF.

Vanessa encouraged Sarah to tell Charity about her plans, but she was eager to keep it to herself and went to a medical appointment to support her. However, Sarah's dreams of having a baby were shattered after she had to have an emergency hysterectomy as a result of her cervical cancer.

In upcoming scenes, Charity is determined to help her granddaughter and offers to be Sarah's surrogate, which is sure to have a big impact on her and Mack's relationship given that they've suffered baby heartache of their own.

With Vanessa now back in the family fold, could this mean a romantic reconnection for her and Charity?

Well, Emma didn't rule out the idea as she revealed they always have that 'spark.'

She told What To Watch: "I think when they do have scenes together, there's always that potential for an opening again, of reconnection, because they get on so well as friends.

"There's always that spark, and you never know in soap properly what they choose to do from one moment to the next, and it's always a joy to work with Michelle.

"So either way, it's going to be a win-win. You know, even if they just have a lovely friendship, because there is a friendship there to be had. I just don't know at this moment in time what they'll do with a pair of them, but I can definitely see an opening happening already, because there's been dialogue between them, but of what nature, I don't know."

But as Kevin reveals that he saw him in cahoots with the woman who stole the car, Carl retorts they’ve both got some explaining to do as he spoke to the doctor and knows he’s been lying about his cancer.

A police officer calls at No.11 and explains to Todd that they need to take him in for questioning, as Noah has reported him for assault.

When Theo reveals that he’s planned a romantic movie night in a bid to cheer him up, Todd’s touched, especially when Theo suggests it’s time they got a place of their own

David and Shona spell out to Lily that she owes Sam an apology. But when Lily admits to Sam that she locked him out of the classroom on purpose, he’s furious and a row breaks out.

Aadi tells Dev that the insurance company has confirmed they’ll pay out for the robbery but Bernie sees straight through him and Aadi is forced to admit that he missed a payment and they won’t get a penny.

When Dev reveals that one of his Aunts is giving them £25k towards their wedding, Bernie forms a plan and suggests they bring the wedding forward. Will Dev agree?

Sally tells Joanie off for being aggressive to Shanice and Sally’s mortified when the girls reveal that they were pretending to be in prison like their Mum. Later, Sally tells Brody she regrets snapping at Joanie.

When Tim reveals that he’s sorted him a few shifts at the garage, Brody’s grateful.

Aadi treats Lauren to dinner at the café, but the mood is ruined when Dev makes a clumsy remark about her Dad being in prison. Apologising, Dev finds Lauren and tells her he’d like to get to know her better.

Having taken a call from social services, Sally and Tim break the news to Brody that his Mum has pleaded guilty and it would mean the world to her if he were to visit.

Ryan warns Debbie that he was only looking out for her and her next assistant manager might not be quite so understanding.

A loved up Todd tells Billy that Theo is finally at ease with his sexuality and is even suggesting they get their own place. But when Billy overhears Theo telling an old workmate that he’s got a new woman in his life, Billy confronts him.

Theo explains his old mate is prejudiced and not important enough to merit the lowdown on his personal life. Will Billy accept this?

As Todd and Theo enjoy a meal in the bistro, Noah suddenly appears and handing Theo a leaflet, suggests he attends a meeting tomorrow in a bid to save his soul.

Dev tells Aadi that he mustn’t blame himself for the robbery, he did the right thing by handing over the money and he’s just glad he’s safe.

Later, Aadi admits to Lauren that he likes her too and the pair share a kiss.

Carla assures a sceptical Lisa that after a few more therapy sessions, she'll be back on top form.

Meanwhile, Michael borrows Carla’s laptop at work and is intrigued by what he sees on her screen.

This week's EastEnders will see Oscar Branning arrive in Walford and waste no time in bringing trouble to his big sister Lauren's door.

Meanwhile, Nigel is reunited with his wife, Julie; however, Julie is left reeling when Nigel doesn't recognise her and quickly becomes overwhelmed.

Later in the week, everything gets on top of Phil, who is struggling with the pressure of looking after his best friend, and in Wednesday's episode, he attacks Johnny after catching him with his son-in-law, Callum Highway.

Phil is not happy to discover that Callum has cheated on his son Ben, who is currently in prison in America, and lunges at Johnny and starts to strangle him!

There is terror coming to Emmerdale as desperate Joe Tate goes to extreme lengths to stop evil Doctor Crowley from getting his hands on Kim's fortune next week.

But, when Joe brings a gun to meet the village villain, will he have it in him to kill Crowley?

Fans of the soap will have already seen that Joe got a nasty taste of his own medicine recently when he was kidnapped by the very man he paid to steal Caleb's kidney earlier this year.

Joe's kidney-stealing saga came back to haunt him when he woke to find himself in a makeshift hospital with Dr Crowley looming over him with a loaded syringe!

But instead of his vital organs, Joe soon discovered Crowley was after his cash and, having been temporarily drugged and paralyzed from the neck down, Joe was helpless as Shaun and Dr Crowley transferred £100,000 from his bank account, leaving him with nothing.

However, losing his fortune was far from the end of the saga for Joe, as he then discovered Kim's new man, Eddie, was none other than the evil doctor.

But, not only that - he also discovered that Crowley wants to get his hands on Kim's fortune after bleeding Joe dry, and he plans to make Joe help him.

With telling Kim and Dawn exactly what Crawley is like being out of the question if he wants to keep them safe, Joe realises he is going to have to play the sinister doctor at his own game if he wants to win.

However, with no money left and no one he can talk to, Joe needs to do the dirty deed himself.

Determined to stop Crawley's mad plan to steal Kim's millions, Joe arranges to meet up with him in a secret location. However, what he has planned all becomes clear when Crowley arrives for his rendezvous with Joe to find himself face to face with the barrel of a gun.

Will Joe be able to stop Crowley once and for all, or will he still be at his mercy to help him steal Kim’s millions?

Emmerdale star Claire King has revealed her death fears for legendary character Kim Tate.

It looks like Kim may come to regret bringing her step-grandson Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) back into the family fold as a shocking twist revealed that Kim's new man, Eddie, was not who he said he was.

In recent scenes, the Home Farm matriarch told stepdaughter Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley) that she was seeing someone new since the death of her father, Will Taylor (Dean Andrews).

Kim revealed that she met her new beau Eddie at York Races and he was a cosmetic surgeon. However, when Kim introduced Eddie to Joe and Dawn, Joe was stunned to come face-to-face with the evil Dr Crowley (James Hillier).

Joe hired Dr Crowley to perform a kidney transplant on him after they stole his uncle Caleb Miligan's (William Ash) kidney, but Joe's dastardly deeds came back to bite him as Dr Crowley threatened to cut out his kidney if he didn't transfer over £100,000.

Now, Dr Crowley's set his sights on Kim's fortune as she continues to grow the Tate empire and disrupt the Bartons' and Sugdens' farming community by buying more land.

After Kim gave Caleb some land to appease him over the kidney-stealing situation, he's continued to build his empire and it's made her realise she needs to get sharper on preserving her legacy — something that's a cause for concern for Claire.

Talking to What To Watch and other media, Claire shared her concerns that Kim's time might be coming to an end as she revealed: "She keeps going on about legacy and I keep saying to Laura the producer, is she dying? Let’s hope not!"

Claire also teased that there could be 'gang warfare' involved if Caleb were to join Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) in a turf war.

She told us: "He’s [Caleb] always been a threat and she knows this in the back of her mind. She did let him have a piece of land but she basically calls it a vegetable patch, so she’s not too worried as far as the land is concerned but if he sides with Moira as a half-Dingle, half-Tate, which he will do, he’ll do anything to go against Kim, then that could be dangerous and there will be gang warfare."

And with the arrival of no-nonsense farmer Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) renting a neighbouring farm from Kim, there's bound to be more conflict in the community.

It has been announced today, Wednesday, July 9, that the highly acclaimed thriller Code of Silence has been renewed for a second season by ITV, and filming gets underway next year.

Code of Silence season 1 featured Rose Ayling-Ellis as deaf caterer Alison Woods, who is drawn into a dangerous investigation to lip-read conversations between a gang of criminals for the police. Soon, Alison finds her world is turned upside down as her life becomes increasingly more complicated.

The first series, which boasts an impressive all-star cast including Kieron Moore, Charlotte Ritchie, Andrew Buchan, Nathan Armarkwei Laryea, Joe Absolom, and Fifi Garfield, received four and five-star reviews. The series was described as 'a landmark moment for inclusion and representation' and hailed as 'the must-watch thriller of the year.'

Rose Ayling-Ellis’s performance was particularly praised, while the production team and ITV were recognised for delivering a drama with genuine impact and talkability.

The series captivated audiences, with the first episode watched by 7.5 million viewers, and over 20 million streams have been recorded across the full box set since it launched on May 18, 2025.

Fans who have watched the first season will know that the ending of the series leaves plenty of scope for a second season, but where will we see Alison's story heading this time?

Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt has shared that new villain Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) is one of soap's "best baddies."

Celia, who is a farmer working on land near Butlers Farm, wasted no time in taunting Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) about her fines in her introductory scenes.

Celia showed up at Moira's and offered to rent two of her fields for much less than they're worth, but Moira turned down her proposal despite needing the money. However, it was clear that Celia meant business and that the two landowners would come to blows again in the future.

Soon enough, Celia's true villainous ways were exposed when she had a run-in with vet Paddy Dingle (Brunt) after he was brutally attacked by one of her guard dogs. Paddy went to confront the no-nonsense farmer over the ordeal, but it ended in disaster when Celia mocked him and threatened to call the police.

Talking to What To Watch and other media, Dominic told us that Celia is one of the best villains that soaps have seen in a "long time." He said: "She's one of the best baddies that soaps have seen in a good long time."

Dominic also revealed how Celia is a classic Emmerdale villain like the iconic Kim Tate (Claire King). "I don't think anybody's come across anyone like Celia before! She's brilliant. She's a true baddie," he shared.

"And in the same way that classic baddies, like Kim Tate, for example, actually enjoy being a baddie, the reason they are a villain is because they enjoy being a villain, not because they have any choice, but they enjoy it.

"She really likes toying with people. She's got nothing to lose. She's in her own space and time, and she's in charge, and you'll never get one past her."

Jaye, who has previously appeared in Casualty, The Bill and Doctors, teased more about Celia's character: “I was delighted to get this role - without giving the game away she is very different to anyone I have played before and I can’t wait to really get into the heart of her storyline.”

Producer Laura Shaw added: “We are absolutely delighted to have Jaye Griffiths joining us to play the role of Celia.

"Having recently taken over a nearby farm, not much is known about mysterious Celia's past before arriving on the outskirts of the village. While Celia has a tough edge with an air of respectability, the audience and our villagers will soon start to see what this woman is truly capable of.”

It was a terrifying moment for the vet and the after-effects of the agonising ordeal are playing havoc with Paddy's nerves.

He's found himself completely incapable of being around large dogs which isn't going to fly in his life of work.

When Paddy opens up to his wife, finally admitting that he's really struggling to around dogs, Mandy comes up with an idea.

Enter Chip, Vinny's gentle, loving mutt!

Will a peaceful encounter with Mandy's son's dog put Paddy back on track?

It's not just the attack that has Paddy in pieces, of course.

His terrible row with his dad Bear – who he summarily booted out of Tenants – is playing on Paddy's mind.

Paddy hasn't seen or heard of Bear since, who lied saying that he was off to a mate's before disappearing off in his car.

But where has Bear been staying, and what is wrong with the out-of-sorts OAP?

Elsewhere, in the wake of the stress of Nate's funeral, secret killer John reaches out to his trusty helpline volunteer. But will he unburden himself?

And Jacob puts his foot in it, big time…

With the Dingles having been banned from attending Nate's funeral, the family holds a memorial in the Woolpack.

Cain's not coping and is still fuming with Tracy for denying him a chance to attend his son's service. There's no love lost between the bitter pair who have both accused each other of Nate's unsolved murder.

Seeing his brother in distress, Caleb steps in and works on calming Cain down.

Though Caleb's efforts pay off just as Cain starts to relax, Cara arrives and has a go at him, infuriated to see her ex looking so happy when their son is dead.

Meanwhile, Sam's all ears when she finds out that Tracy is set to inherit Nate's life insurance. Deciding that gives her a motive for the murder they've all accused her of, Sam tells Cain who agrees.

Exploding in rage, Cain blasts at Tracy informing her they'll all be attending Nate's funeral whether she likes it or not.

Charity and Cain discuss her shock offer to be their granddaughter's surrogate. Cain warns his ex that she needs to tell her husband Mack about it.

But's a case of 'mañana' for Charity when Sarah goes on to learn her gran's done nothing of the sort.

When Charity Dingle asked Vic to be Sarah's surrogate, she didn't really stop to think about the consequences.

But the impulsive gran is put firmly in the picture when Robert storms over with his sister Vic and lays into Charity about the idea.

Listening in, it's news to Sarah, too. She's furious that her gran approached Vic without talking to her about it.

It's a kick in the guts for Charity who's only trying to help.

Cain's also trying to realise Sarah's dream and he's not faring any better. As a potential surrogate fails to turn up for an initial meeting, Sarah resigns herself that it's just not going to happen.

Without thinking, shotgun Charity strikes again but this time offers her own body, offering to carry Sarah's baby…

How will Sarah react?

Down the road, secret killer John is having a nightmare.

He's in a right tangle as he hasn't been able to change his husband Aaron's mind about attending Nate's upcoming funeral no matter Tracy's ban. And with Cain still convinced that Tracy killed his son there's no sign of the war subsiding.

At work, John checks out the patients' list and is shocked to spot Owen's name on there. Having caught him trying to date rape Robert, John fumes at the sight of him.

At first, Owen doesn't recognise John but the memory of their clash soon clicks in as he's ejected from the surgery!

Though there's no love lost between the Sugden brothers, Robert's grateful when he sees John manhandling Owen.

Aaron's pleased to see his husband and ex-husband getting along. But it's all an act especially for Robert who still doesn't trust a bone in John's body.

Emmerdale's Charity Dingle makes a desperate plea in Monday's episode (ITV, 7.30pm, see our TV Guide for full listings).

Though Charity Dingle was hoping that the plan to find Sarah a surrogate would fall apart, the gran has done a 360.

She's now all in with the idea and, along with Sarah's grandad Cain, AKA Grumpy, is on a mission to help their desperate granddaughter become a mum.

So far, however, they've encountered roadblock after roadblock as the surrogate agencies won't take on Sarah because of her illnesses.

Determined to find a solution, Charity thinks she's cracked it and, without consulting a soul, she asks single mum Vic if she'll carry a baby for Sarah!

Victoria's utterly thrown and doesn't know how to respond.

As Vic digests the bombshell request, Charity carries on with the hard sell, telling Vic she's the only chance Sarah's got.

What will Vic do?

Later, Charity and Cain collude and agree to continue pushing as hard as they can to make Sarah's motherhood dream come true.

Over at the cafe it's all change now Lewis is on board and working with Nicola.

Already a smash with the customers, Lewis continues to make his mark and proudly shows his brother Ross a new menu he's devised.

As the villagers flock to feast on his delicious new dishes, Nicola fumes that her absent partner Brenda is reaping the rewards while gadding about abroad.

But a shock is coming Nicola's way…

Aadi Alahan shouts as a masked robber dashes out of the corner shop and when Lisa freezes, Carla is puzzled by her lack of action.

Aadi tells Asha how the lad threatened him with a wrench and forced him to empty the safe. Asha assures him it’s not his fault and he’s the victim of a crime.

As he tells PC Jess what happened, Aadi explains the robber made off with £6k in cash, but at least they’re insured. But as Bernie clocks his shifty demeanour, she wonders if there is more to this than he’s letting on? Suddenly, the door flies open and Dev barrels in, wondering what he’s missed.

Ronnie begs Debbie to retract her crazy offer for No.6, but she won’t hear of it and reminds him she’s a successful businesswoman. Ronnie confides in Kevin that Debbie is determined to buy No.6 as she wants to be nearby to support him through his cancer treatment.

Feeling guilty, Kevin spells out to Debbie that he doesn’t want her to make any rash decisions because of him. Will she withdraw her offer?

Carla quizzes Lisa, wanting to know why she didn’t arrest the robber and let him run off with the cash. But she’s clearly troubled when Lisa refuses to discuss the incident.

Lauren invites Aadi to join her and Frankie for tea, explaining it’s her way of apologising for her recent behaviour. Aadi agrees, unaware of Lauren’s growing feelings towards him. Is she playing with fire?

Having spoken to the estate agent, a furious Debbie tells Ronnie that they’ve lost out on No.6 to Carla. Will Debbie set out to get revenge?

In his prison cell, an agitated Mick Michaelis reads a message on his burner phone. Meanwhile, Brody calls at No.4 for Joanie and Shanice. When Sally reveals that Tim is taking Joanie to a taster day at Weatherfield High, Brody masks his panic and furtively calls Mick.

As Daniel prepares for his interview at Weatherfield High, the kids give Joanie a hard time about her parents. When she becomes teary, the school calls Sally to take her home. At the station, Jess quizzes Lou about Mick’s prison escape but she denies all knowledge.

At the school, Daniel and Mrs Crawshaw are shocked to come face to face with Mick who tells them he wants Joanie. Mrs Crawshaw explains that Sally picked Joanie up. So Mick locks them in the office and does a runner.

As Sally offers Joanie a tour of the factory while the girls are at the pub, Mick heads to the street, closely followed by Kit. What has he got planned and will Kit be able to stop him?

Elsewhere, Kevin assures Tyrone that he’s to tell Abi the truth about his cancer once they’re back from their weekend away.

When Emmerdale's Joe Tate paid Dr Crowley for saving his life earlier this year, he hoped he'd never see him again - little does he know the past is about to come back to haunt him in the most sinister way possible.

Joe's kidney-stealing saga reignites next week when he finds himself in a makeshift hospital with Dr Crowley - who helped steal Caleb's kidney and transplant it to Joe, looming over him with a loaded syringe!

But why is the dodgy doctor back on the scene, and what does he want with Joe this time?

It all starts when the blackmail campaign against Joe steps up a gear when he finds a letter at Home Farm demanding a cool £100,000.

Having wrongly accused girlfriend Dawn's ex, Billy, of making the demands, Joe realises someone means business and shows the note to Sam Dingle, who is none the wiser about who could be behind the plot.

"You've lost your safe bubble when someone's broken into your kitchen and left a note. He's less scared about the bribe and more worried that Dawn and her kids are going to be in danger," Ned Porteous, who plays Joe, told What's On TV.

Wanting to get to the bottom of who is blackmailing him as quickly as possible, Joe tries to think about who could be behind the note and comes to the conclusion that it could be his newly hired heavy, Sean.

However, it is clear Joe is getting closer to the truth when Sean turns on him, and Sam is forced to step in with his shotgun!

"There's always something going on that is pushing Joe into some sort of jeopardy," jokes Ned. "His entire thing is about trying to seem in control of a situation, when that's really the furthest thing from the truth."

But things are about to get even more bizarre when Joe decides to leave the village in a bid to keep everyone safe, only for Sean to return and knock him out with a shovel.

When Joe comes around, he is in for the shock of his life when he realises he's in a makeshift hospital with none other than Dr Crowley up to no good.

Is Joe about to meet his maker?

ITV has finally revealed the release date for its huge new reality show, SHARK! Celebrity Infested Waters, which will see ocean-fearing famous faces head to the Bahamas to come face to face with sharks!

It was revealed today, Wednesday, July 2, that the show will start on ITV1 and ITVX on Monday, July 14 at 9 pm.

The new series, which was announced earlier this year by ITV, has an impressive lineup, with Ade Adepitan, Call the Midwife star Helen George, Sir Lenny Henry, Ross Noble, Dougie Poynter, Amandaland star Lucy Punch and Rachel Riley all taking the plunge.

ITV says: "The show will dare a group of ocean-phobic celebrities to confront their greatest fear — sharks. Throughout their adrenaline-fueled, challenge-heavy journey in the Bahamas — the shark capital of the world — these A-listers will push past their limits to come nose to nose with nature’s 'villains'.

"Their firsthand experiences will provide immeasurable excitement and new perspective; they’ll come to appreciate sharks’ valuable place on the food chain and in our ecosystem, recognizing that a world devoid of these notoriously terrifying creatures is downright frightening.

"The celebrities will be tasked with diving with a different species of shark, with the breeds getting bigger and more dangerous each time. Bimini, the Bahamas island where the show will be filmed, is home to around 7-10 different shark types, including Hammerheads, Bull sharks and Tiger sharks.

"And if that isn't enough, the celebrities will also face fear-inducing challenges whilst learning firsthand the important role sharks play in our oceans."

The new series, being filmed in the Bahamas, will also air to tie in with the 50th anniversary of the classic movie Jaws.

Emmerdale star Ned Porteous has revealed how Joe Tate's evil sidekick Shaun compares to his villainous father figure Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough).

Sinister Shaun was part of Joe's evil plan to steal his uncle Caleb Miligan's (Will Ash) kidney after it was revealed Joe was suffering from chronic kidney failure and needed a transplant.

After drugging his half-brother Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) to try and get his kidney, he discovered they weren't a match. Joe then manipulated Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) into testing Caleb's blood and found he was a suitable donor.

When Joe's plan to kidnap Caleb didn't work, he paid his accomplice Shaun to stab Caleb and he woke up to find Dr Crowley (James Hillier) had removed his kidney, lying that it had been badly damaged in the attack. However, Caleb was oblivious to the fact that Joe had set up the whole ordeal and his kidney was now inside of Joe.

Joe soon faced another problem as he was convinced that his girlfriend's ex Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) had keyed his car and stole his autoimmune suppressant drugs.

However, Joe was humiliated when his attempt to confront Billy ended in disaster and Sam Dingle (James Hooton) planted the idea that a replacement Graham Foster might help him get more respect.

That's when Joe enlisted Shaun to teach Billy a lesson and the character has since drawn parallels to Joe's iconic right-hand man Graham, who met a grisly end in 2020.

Ned told What To Watch and other media about how Shaun and Graham's characters compare.

"They're very different characters; they're very, very different people. Again, another lovely actor to work with, a cool character," he said. "The one missing thing that Joe has as a character is his ability to physically defend himself. Joe rubs a lot of people up the wrong way and some people probably turn to violence, so it would be good for a character like Joe to have a bit of muscle around. But with that comes its own dangers because hired muscles have their own anger issues and stuff like that. So we'll see."

Now, Joe's vile deeds are set to catch up with him when he suspects Shaun is responsible for a harassment campaign against him after receiving a blackmail demand of £100,000.

Things turn nasty between the pair when Joe fires Shaun for disloyalty, and soon culminates in Shaun knocking him out with a shovel. Later on, Joe wakes up in a makeshift hospital room to a menacing Dr Crowley looming over him. What does he want?

When Kevin Webster strains his groin playing football with Jack, Abi tells him that it is time he told his family the truth. He makes out to Debbie and Tyrone that his cancer was unresponsive and he has to have further chemo.

Feeling the pressure, he later blurts out to a stunned Tyrone that he lied and his cancer has gone.

What is he up to?

In the Rovers, a guy called Ollie introduces himself to Dee-Dee and insists on buying her a drink. As Ollie chats her up, Dee-Dee can’t help being charmed.

Later, James tells Dee-Dee he’s spoken to the adoption team to set the wheels in motion.

When Aadi offers to help her move into her flat and presents her with an air fryer, Lauren worries about his motives and tells him she doesn’t need his help.

With Gary still in hospital, his attacker tries to cover their tracks. Can Kit or Maria get to the bottom of what happened and will Gary pull through?

Nina listens, deeply worried, before telling Summer about Gary’s disappearance and how he’s not been seen since the night they were high on drugs. Summer reminds her that there were no reports of an assault.

At the hospital, Gary lies unconscious whilst the nurse assures a visitor that 'Chesney' is making improvements. Kit breaks the news to Maria that the patient wasn’t Gary but assures her he’ll do his best to track him down. Who is the woman with Gary and why is she hiding his identity?

Later, a series of flashbacks revisit the fateful night.

Kevin tells Carl that he’s been given the all clear and he’s cancer-free. Confused by Kevin’s apparent lie, Abi puts Carl straight and explains that Kevin needs to undergo another round of chemo.

Later, Abi’s horrified to find Kevin and Carl at loggerheads.

Carla does her best to convince a sceptical Lisa that therapy can really help. And when the therapist suggests they talk about Becky, she’s thrown into turmoil.
