If you didn't get to cheer and weep to it when it originally came out in the early 1990s, pet lovers can catch up on a longtime Disney classic Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey airing this evening on ABC.

Premiering tonight, June 29 at 8pm Eastern Time, Homeward Bound follows three beloved pets—"Chance, a fun-loving American bulldog pup; Sassy, a hilarious Himalayan cat who lives up to her name; and Shadow, a wise old golden retriever...all of whom express themselves with very familiar human voices" (that would be Michael J. Fox, Sally Field and Don Ameche, respectively)—who set off on an adventure to find their owners after being left behind when their family moves from the country to San Francisco:

"The adventure begins when the loving owners of these irresistible pets are forced to leave them in the temporary care of a friend who lives hundreds of miles away," reads the film's synopsis, per Disney: "But after several days, the worried animals begin to think their family must be in trouble, so they decide to head for home. On their incredible journey across the ruggedly beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains, they encounter unexpected surprises from man, beast and nature alike."

Tonight's airing of Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey is part of ABC's ongoing partnership with The Wonderful World of Disney, with the alphabet network regularly airing Disney movies on Sundays for the past twenty years. Upcoming Disney titles that will soon find their way onto ABC include Avatar: The Way of Water, Elemental, Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3 and Wakanda Forever.

Malory Towers season 6 is again inspired by the Enid Blyton book series of the same name.

The series follows the adventures of Darrell Rivers, now in her final year, and her friends at an all-girls' boarding school in post-war Britain.

Joining the cast as new girl Nancy is Ellie Goldstein, who made history as the first model with Down's syndrome to appear on the cover of Vogue magazine.

Ellie says: "I am so honoured to have been a part of the fantastic series Malory Towers. I'm beyond excited to see my episodes and share them with everyone. I absolutely love acting and feel so lucky to have worked with such a wonderful cast and crew."

Nancy arrives at Malory Towers with her guardian, who turns out to be the girls' previous much-feared Matron, played by Ashley McGuire, who’s returning to the hit show. Nancy loves history and turns out to be very handy at lacrosse.

Season 6 is the last year at Malory Towers for Darrell. In the opening episode she has a fierce arguement with Gwen, while newcomer French student Celeste plays a prank on the teachers. Later in the series Celeste finds herself trapped with Matron when the stables catch fire.

Malory Towers season 6 behind the scenes and more

Malory Towers was shot in studio in Bristol and on location at the beautiful setting of Hartland Abbey in North Devon, as well as other picturesque locations along the Cornish coast.

If you love pulpy family dramas that mix personal squabbles with professional troubles—think Yellowstone, Succession, MobLand and the like—you'll probably enjoy The Waterfront, a new Netflix thriller centered on the wealthy Buckley family and their (often bloody) battles to protect their fishing business legacy in the small coastal town of Havenport, North Carolina.

Written by Scream and Dawson’s Creek creator Kevin Williamson, the series debuted all eight of its installments worldwide on the streamer on Thursday, June 19, and the premiere episode kicked things off with a bang—well, several bangs really, as already the bodies are piling up in the drama's first hour alone.

Entitled "Almost Okay," the debut ep sees patriarch Harlan Buckley (Holt McCallany)—fresh off yet another heart attack, though that won't stop him from "drinking and whoring" around town—contending with a secret business deal set up by his wife Belle (Maria Bello) and son Cane (Jake Weary) that goes very, very wrong.

There's more than fish on those boats

We're out on the water in the dark of night, with two men—whom we later find out are Curtis and Troy, employees of the Buckley family's fishing business—aboard the Miss Glory. Between the late hour and the ominous music, it's clear a clandestine meeting is in the works, but one that quickly goes awry, as a group of gun-wielding men take over the boat, tie Curtis and Troy up in fishing net and throw them overboard.

It's a concerning scene, no doubt, but most of all to Cane Buckley, who is not only the owner of that boat but also the mastermind behind that failed meeting. With the Miss Glory washed ashore the next morning—the hold fully cleaned out, and no traces of fingerprints or residue left behind—and DEA agents sniffing around the case, Cane desperately rushes over to the court office, where he bribes his cousin Lynette to have the ownership of the Miss Glory fraudulently moved from him to Curtis Sutton, with a predated and forged signature to make everything look legit. What exactly is Cane covering up?

Parents just don't understand

While his son is running about town like a headless chicken, dad Harlan is dealing with his own rough morning: namely, waking up in his mistress's bed to severe heart pain. At the hospital, his wife Belle—who doesn't seem surprised in the slightest at her husband's infidelity—informs him about the Miss Glory mess, which has Harlan angrily ripping off the IVs and medical monitors to track down his son.

It seems that, due to his cardiac issues, Harlan has informally stepped away from the family business, leaving things largely in Cane's care where the boats are concerned. (Mom Belle and sister Bree run the restaurant side of things, much to the latter's chagrin.) And while Cane keeps his cool when initially questioned by the DEA about what happened the night prior aboard the Miss Glory, he's far less collected when Harlan tracks him down, greeting his son with a hefty right hook.

It turns out that Cane and Belle had engineered a dangerous side-gig for the family's fishing boats: running drug deals onboard to pay off the business's considerable debts, which had accumulated under Harlan's leadership. The haul that Curtis and Troy were supposed to handle the night prior was for $10 million's worth of cocaine and opiates—the kind of sum a person would kill for.

Cane reveals that he's been working on the drug runs with Hoyd Piper (Scott Deckert), who is the middleman of a mysterious supplier simply known as Owen. A furious Harlan tells him to set up a meeting with Hoyt: "I'm going to take control of things."

Add mommy issues to the list, too

Clearly things are contentious between father and son in the Buckley family, but the parental relationship isn't so smooth between Bree (Melissa Benoist) and her teen son. A former addict, Bree is in recovery and has lost custody of Diller (Brady Hepner), meaning that she gets yelled at from her baby daddy for showing up to Diller's swim relay without a court order and can only enjoy a meal with her child under the surveillance of a court-appointed chaperone.

Bree is also frustrated that she's being saddled with training the restaurant's new bartender Shawn (Rafael L. Silva) instead of having a real grown-up job in the office like her brother, which seems to fuel some animosity between the siblings. That animosity seemingly won't be easing up anytime soon, especially if Cane finds out that his sister offered up Hoyt's name to that DEA agent.

Old high-school loves die hard

In between all of the Miss Glory drama, Cane runs into an old paramour, his high-school girlfriend Jenna (Humberly Gonzalez), a big-city journalist who is back in Havenport to take care of her ailing father.

There's a spark between them, which would be all well and good if Cane didn't have a wife, Peyton (Danielle Campbell), and young daughter at home. Jenna, too, is married, a fact that she reminds Cane of when he arrives unannounced and liquored-up at her father's home for a late-night chat.

Cane comes clean about why he never left Havenport—he had a full-ride football scholarship in Florida, but his father told him he'd never make it to the pros, so he turned it down—because he hates that he lied to her. Jenna tells him she hopes they can be friends.

Blood in the water

Cane brings Hoyt to meet Harlan on his boat—however, not even a $3,000 bottle of whiskey can ease Hoyt's nerves, with the dealer quickly clocking the two workers that Harlan has brought onboard as extra muscle. Accusing Hoyt of taking the $10 million of drugs for himself, Harlan has the men chum the waters to attract sharks and lift Hoyt above the deadly waters below. The sharp-toothed threat works, with Hoyt revealing that the pricey stash is locked up in a secret shed off the highway.

The men seek out the shed and find the contraband—until law enforcement shows up, that is. Hoyt begins to explain to Sheriff Clyde Porter (Michael Gaston) that he's been kidnapped and that the Buckleys are behind a massive drug deal but can't finish his pleadings before the sheriff shockingly puts a bullet in his head. Harlan gets it before the rest do: Sheriff Porter is the mysterious Owen.

Clyde tells Harlan that he always looked up to him growing up, but now the mighty Buckleys of Havenport owe him. And the first bidding would be to get rid of Hoyt's body, with father and son dumping the man into a swamp to let the gators take care of the rest. Just what are the Buckley boys getting themselves into?

We’re not completely heartless when it comes to General Hospital’s Willow (Katelyn MacMullen). Don’t get us wrong, we were happy to see the judge in her custody battle with Michael (Rory Gibson) side with the Corinthos/Quartermaine heir. Heck, she’s been infuriating as she continues to follow the deplorable Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) down every wrong turn. But her complete breakdown in court was still gut-wrenching to watch.

As General Hospital viewers know, in the episode that aired on June 12, things got so bad that Willow wound up fainting and being taken to the hospital. There, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) told Willow she’d be getting a psych evaluation.

Speaking of the hospital, it’s believed that Sasha (Sofia Mattsson), along with baby Daisy, are still there. That makes complete sense, considering Sasha just recently gave birth, and both mother and daughter are likely recovering.

With all that being said, we can’t help but feel as if the powers that be at General Hospital are laying the groundwork for history repeating itself. Years ago, Willow’s mother, Nina (Cynthia Watros), suffered from a mental breakdown of her own and stole Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Ava’s (Maura West) daughter, Avery. Is it possible that so completely distraught after losing custody of her children, Willow takes a page out of Nina’s book and kidnaps baby Daisy? Sure it is.

If our theory proves true, Willow would cause a widespread panic throughout Port Charles, and she’d have every powerful family in town hunting her down. Literally, the Scorpios, the Spencers, the Quartermaines and the Corinthos clans are all connected to the newborn. And if Willow commits the kidnapping, we have to think about how this would all come to an end. Would Nina find her daughter first to talk some sense into her? Would the voice of reason somehow become Drew?

Should Willow turn to a life of crime due to this custody outcome, we suspect her criminal tenure will ultimately end with her spending a stint at Shadybrook Sanitarium or Ferncliff Asylum. But that may be for the best. Not for nothing, Willow probably should get to the bottom of how she became so susceptible to Drew’s callous manipulation in the first place.

On a final note, we hate to disparage anyone’s skills as a mother (even in the soap world), but Nina should feel guilty here. She could have helped stop this Drew trainwreck if she had just been honest about him with her daughter. So it bears asking: “Was Carly (Laura Wright) right, and is Nina a bad mother?”

The Twits for Netflix is written, directed and produced by Ralph Breaks the Internet’s Phil Johnston, who says: “I’ve always been attracted to reprehensible characters. The Twits was written in 1980 by Roald Dahl, author of other classic children's books Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, Danny Champion Of The World and James and the Giant Peach. It has sold 16 million copies worldwide and been translated into 41 languages. This is the first time the novel The Twits has been adapted for TV.

It looks like General Hospital fans won’t have to wait too long for the verdict of Michael (Rory Gibson) and Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) custody hearing, as it’s been teased that the judge will reach a decision during the week of June 9.

Call it wishful thinking, but we suspect the moment the court is dismissed for the final time in this case, Michael will be granted full custody of Wiley (Viron Weaver) and Amelia (Sequoia & Serenity Mork Macko). Whether it be because the judge truly sees the harm in the kids being raised near Drew (Cameron Mathison) or someone paid the judge to sway things in Michael’s favor, we can’t help but hope the young children are placed with their father as Willow continues to fall for Drew’s scheming and tricks.

If our hunch proves correct, we sadly think Drew will use the loss as an opportunity to further sink his manipulative hooks into Willow. As we see it, Drew may try to make one of two bold moves that would leave us shaking our heads in disgust (we already find the character repulsive).

Our first guess is that Drew might offer Willow a new family as a “consolation prize.” After he tries to reassure her that the judge got the decision wrong and he’ll use all his power to make sure a reversal is made on the custody ruling, Drew might propose that he and Willow get married, she adopt Scout (Cosette Abinante) and they get started on having kids of their own. While some would be repulsed by the suggestion of trying to start an instant new family right away that doesn’t include their own children, we can’t say Willow would feel that way. Lately, everything Drew says registers as right in her mind.

If this isn’t the move Drew makes, we suspect he could just suggest that Willow pick up and move with him to Washington, DC, leaving Port Charles behind. During the hearing, it was revealed that he bought property there (which he should have, considering he’s a congressman), so he may want Willow to move with him and Scout. Which would effectively isolate her from Nina (Cynthia Watros) as well.

Now Willow may initially resist an idea that puts distance between her and her children, but again, Drew has become very good at convincing her to do whatever he wants. He may say it’s good for them to relocate as they work to figure out how to get her kids, and she might agree.

Of course, regardless of what Drew proposes, we have to think Willow will finally wake up to the real Drew Cain one of these days. Heck, maybe Nina finally reveals all to make Willow realize that she’s destroyed her life for a selfish and loathsome human being. Or perhaps the bombshell drops that Willow has been dating Shiloh (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) this whole time as he pretends to be Drew.

Having said all of that, we have to wonder how Willow changes her perception in Port Charles and among General Hospital fans at home. Right now, Drew may be the most disliked man in all of daytime, but she doesn’t exactly have a bountiful fan club.

The Reluctant Vampire is a comedy series that stars young actor Lenny Rush from Am I Being Unreasonable? Lenny plays vampire Val who has a secret to hide, for Val is really a human, which is why he’s always felt like a misfit in his family.

Written by Rob and Neil Gibbons, the series is based on The Reluctant Vampire books by Eric Morecambe, the late legendary British comedian, famous for his TV partnership with Ernie Wise. It's a coming-of-age tale about finding your own identity and Lenny Rush admits he can’t wait for it to hit our screens.

Set in a picturesque English village, The Reluctant Vampire follows the vampires who live in a castle on the hill and come out at night to feast on the blood of the locals.

It follows Val, who has always felt he doesn’t fit in with his traditional vampire family. Then, he has a surprise encounter with his reflection and realises he’s not actually a vampire at all. That leaves Val trying to work out who he really is and whether he fits in better with the human villagers, who despise and fear the vampires. And his discovery leaves him caught between two worlds, those he loves and where he belongs.

The Reluctant Vampire is a six-part comedy series commissioned for BBC iPlayer and BBC One by Jon Petrie, Director of Comedy Commissioning. Written by Rob Gibbons and Neil Gibbons, the executive producer is Shane Allen and the series producer is Ali Marlow.

The custody battle between General Hospital’s Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) and Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) is getting wild. Earlier this week, Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) had to admit under oath that Michael is the father of her baby. But that doesn’t mean Willow or Drew (Cameron Mathison) should be celebrating just yet.

It doesn’t look great that Michael fathered a child with Sasha after a drunken one-night stand. However, Willow cheated first. Willow, as the first one to break her marriage vows, doesn’t get to claim the moral high ground even though Michael slept with Sasha.

If Willow had never kissed Drew, then Michael never would have been devastated and gone out drinking, found Sasha at the bar or slept with her. Of course, Michael is responsible for his actions, and being drunk is no excuse, but Willow was the first to cheat. Because of that, it doesn’t even really matter that Michael slept with Sasha. The marriage was already broken at that point, and Willow broke it. She’s still responsible for the failure of the marriage.

Nina (Cynthia Watros) might think that getting Sasha to admit on the stand that Michael is the father of her baby is some kind of “gotcha” that will help Willow, but it won’t make a huge difference in the outcome of the case. Especially since Nina was the one responsible for drugging Drew.

Let’s look at the facts – Willow’s case

Normally, I love mess, and this custody fight is deliciously messy. But look at the case from the judge’s perspective, since the judge doesn’t know any of the parties involved. Willow kissed Drew, and then months later kissed him again. All the while, Drew was sleeping with Willow’s mother (which hasn’t been shared in court).

Michael found out about both kisses, got drunk and slept with Sasha. Then Willow had sex with Drew in the children’s playroom on camera.

Over the course of the months that followed, Willow took the kids to Nina’s, back to the Quartermaine mansion, back to Nina’s, then she took Wiley (Viron Weaver) to DC with Drew. She then moved the kids in with Drew. That is a lot of moving and upheaval, which is not good for kids, especially younger kids.

She also refused to let Michael’s family see him when he was in the hospital and never even tried to keep the kids connected to him while he recovered from life-threatening burns (although Michael stayed in contact with Wiley). And now that Drew has bought property in DC, if she’s given custody, she could very well move the kids out of state, unless the judge orders her to remain in the state so Michael can see his kids.

Now the kids are living with Drew, who is unstable at best, and has gone viral twice now for his beef with Tracy (Jane Elliot) and for his escapade with another woman. Drew’s public reputation is shot, and he doesn’t look like a very stable or kind person. Definitely not the kind of person that kids should be in a home with. If I were the judge on this case, there is no way I’d give custody to Willow while she was living with Drew.

Let’s look at the facts- Michael’s case

I’m on Team Michael, but he’s not perfect. The judge definitely has to consider some of his actions and associations as well. Michael has another new baby in Daisy. And while that shouldn’t have any bearing on the custody decision because Willow cheated and broke the marriage first, the addition of a new half-sibling is a disruption to the lives of Wiley (Viron Weaver) and Amelia (Sequoia & Serenity Mork Macko).

But if Sasha is going to raise the baby at the Quartermaine mansion, that should minimize the disruption as much as possible because there will always be family members around to provide stability and consistency for them. If Michael is given full custody and he moves the kids back to the mansion, it will be like going home for them, which is a very good thing and something the judge should consider.

The elephant in the room, of course, is the kids’ paternal grandfather, Sonny (Maurice Benard). Michael was almost killed in Sonny’s penthouse. Is it safe for the kids to be around Michael when they could be targeted because of their association with Sonny?

The judge has to take that into account, but I don’t think that alone is enough to make the judge give custody to Willow. Comparing the risks of the kids being around Drew and Nina, who drugged a man without consent, or being around Michael and his family, the kids are clearly safer with Michael. Especially if they live at the Quartermaine mansion, which has security guards.

Willow brought all this on herself

Ultimately, despite the circus going on in the courtroom, Willow brought this on herself, and she deserves to lose custody of those kids. She’s wildly unstable, gives too much control to a domineering narcissist who wants revenge for every perceived slight and moves those kids from home to home like they’re suitcases.

If she had never kissed her husband’s uncle twice, then she wouldn’t be in this position. So I don’t think it matters at all that Michael is having a baby with Sasha. He never would have slept with Sasha if Willow hadn’t done what she did. I’ll die on that hill.

Jamie's Dyslexia Revolution follows Jamie Oliver's campaign to improve the education system for the tens of thousands of children with dyslexia.

Like approximately 10% of the population, Jamie has dyslexia and says the condition made his experience at school a nightmare.

It dented his confidence and left him feeling like had nothing to offer the world.

Jamie says: "It's no secret I struggled at school, but I was one of the lucky ones. I knew I wanted to be a chef, so I had somewhere to go, catering school, where I could thrive.

"The kitchen genuinely saved me. But not everyone is as lucky as me – what happens to those who don't know where to go? We can't leave kids' futures up to luck. We need the education system to update, so everyone has the best possible chance in life.”

Jamie's Dyslexia Revolution release date

Jamie's Dyslexia Revolution will air on Channel 4 at 9 pm on Monday June 9. It's an hour long.

What's Jamie hoping to achieve with Jamie's Dyslexia Revolution?

Jamie's chief goal is to improve the lives of children with dyslexia. He says: "I just want to look 13-year-old kids — who are struggling with reading — in the eye and say to them 'you are NOT worthless…'".

More specifically, Jamie wants to change what the show describes as an "archaic education system," which blocks children with dyslexia from reaching their full potential.

One obvious area that could be improved is the speed at which it takes to determine if your child is dyslexic. Some children are not being picked up until secondary school, and many are no doubt missed altogether.

Jamie is campaigning for all children to be screened for dyslexia within the first two years of school, as well as for more support and training for teachers.

His campaign is backed by presenters Holly Willoughby and Jamie Laing, both of whom are dyslexic.

Jamie Oliver, of course, previously campaigned strongly to improve the nutrition in school meals with great success. He also campaigned for free school meals.

Tim Hancock, commissioning editor at Channel 4 says, "There's surely no more powerful or effective campaigner in the UK than Jamie, and now he’s turning his expertise to a subject extremely close to his heart, and in dire need of his help. I’m thrilled that Channel 4 is following him back on the campaign trail, using his reputation to influence the social issues he thinks are most important in the country right now."

Jamie Oliver on his own dyslexia

Jamie talked in more depth to the BBC about being dyslexic and his experience as a child.

He said: "School for me was a tricky one. I was very happy. I enjoyed my time at school but as far as actual schooling was concerned, I struggled at every point. I couldn't read very well. I couldn't write very well. I couldn't spell very well.

"And most of the classes required me to be good at all of those otherwise you're ungraded or a very, very bad result, which that as me. I got two GCSEs. So I did struggle.

"My story isn't one of violins and, sort of, sorrow and sobbing. I powered on and was just very self aware of what I was bad at and then tried to collaborate with people to fill my weaknesses, and I've spent 30 years doing that."

No, not yet.

On General Hospital, the divorce and custody battle between Michael and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) is finally going to court. But frankly, neither of them should be taking care of those kids. The judge is going to have a tough time deciding who should be given custody because both Michael and Willow are unfit.

It’s hard to believe this total mess is finally going to court, but it is. Carly (Laura Wright) is moving ahead with the divorce and custody cases even though Michael isn’t back in Port Charles yet to appear on his own behalf.

Carly’s strategy isn’t a bad one, actually. Right now, Drew (Cameron Mathison) is very much in the public hot seat because of his very public dalliances with Jacinda (Paige Herschell), so Diane (Carolyn Hennesy) can definitely use that to make a case that Drew’s not safe for the kids to be around. But, both Diane and Ric (Rick Hearst) are going to have a hard time proving that either of their clients is fit to have custody of Wiley (Viron Weaver) and Amelia (Sequoia & Serenity Mork Macko).

“Absentee” father Michael

Michael isn’t necessarily a bad father, but he’s unfit to have full custody because of his medical issues. That’s not his fault, and he’s not an absentee father like Drew claims.

Only in Drew’s narcissistic fantasy is Michael absent because he is injured. And he does keep in contact with Wiley and Amelia through phone and video calls when he can. Just because he doesn’t go through Willow to schedule those calls doesn’t mean he’s absent from his children’s lives. If I ever agree with Drew Cain on anything, I need to reevaluate my life choices.

But the fact is, Michael survived a horrific ordeal, and he’s still very much recovering. Someone who is still undergoing treatment for severe burns isn’t going to be able to organize play dates, make the school drop off each day or do any of the other dozens of things that a parent with full custody has to do every day. He’s physically not capable of being the parent with sole custody right now.

That doesn’t mean he can’t be in his children’s lives while he recovers, but he shouldn’t have full custody of them until he’s fully recovered. Kids need stability, consistency and routine to feel safe and thrive. He’s not in a position to give them that right now.

However, I don’t think Drew will succeed in his plan to win custody for Willow by trying to argue that Michael is an absentee father. And I wouldn’t be surprised if Michael does find a way to appear in court on his own behalf, even if it’s by video from Germany.

Willow is Michael’s medical proxy, so if she was worried that he would be an “absent” father by going to Germany for treatment, she could have stopped him from going. Really, she’s the cause of him being gone. So that argument won’t hold up in court.

Willow is an unfit mother

I can’t believe there’s anyone who thinks Willow is a good mother who should have full custody. She’s unfit to be the primary caregiver for Wiley and Amelia. Not because of her affair, but because of her inconsistency.

People have affairs. It’s morally icky, but it happens. That doesn’t make someone unfit to parent their children. What makes them unfit to parent is using that affair to upend the children’s lives and create chaos and instability. And that’s exactly what Willow has done.

First, Willow has moved those kids around like chess pieces on a game board. They were living at the Quartermaine mansion, then back at the gatehouse, then with Nina, then they moved in with Drew and his daughter. That is a lot of disruption and chaos for small children.

Willow destroyed their routines, took them away from people they loved and trusted, and just slotted Drew into a parental role with the kids like a Ken doll while their real father is recovering from nearly dying.

Willow is too flighty, too dependent on Drew and too inconsistent to have primary custody of the kids. There’s also a serious risk that she’d cut Michael out of their lives altogether and try to take the kids to D.C. to live.

The safety issue

Diane can also make a strong case that the kids aren’t safe living in Drew’s home. Whether Drew was drugged without his knowledge doesn’t really matter. Drew was acting inappropriately and chaotically. What if he was acting like that in the home? Wiley and Amelia could be in danger. What if Drew brings strangers home again? Again, that puts the kids in danger.

Who should get custody?

So, if both Michael and Willow are unfit, what should happen with the kids? Michael should have scheduled visitation once he gets back and is recovering at home. Willow should have supervised visitation, without Drew. Drew has no claim to those kids at all.

That leaves Nina (Cynthia Watros) or Carly as the best choices to take care of the kids. I think Carly would be the best choice to take primary custody, because Willow would cry and put pressure on Nina to let her take the kids.

Another option would be for Wiley and Amelia to return to the Quartermaine mansion. They were happy and well-cared for there. And it’s a relatively neutral home where all the parties involved could visit.

Star Richard David-Caine, who was also part of the Horrible Histories ensemble, tells What to Watch he's "excited" about the new 15-part show.

What happens?

Well, in the first episode we get a totally wicked song about gravity, a T-rex going to see a doctor, vampires on holiday, and Sir Isaac Newton riding a rollercoaster!

As the scientist Isaac Newton in the first episode, Richard David-Caine finds himself in a precarious situation. He explains: "We thought Newton would be a wonderful character to take us through some key concepts, but our show can never be boring and dry, so they shoved me on a rollercoaster at Chessington World of Adventures. I had to recall scientific principles while trying not to vomit. I lost count of how many times we went round, but it's great TV!"

Horrible Science cast

Joining Richard David-Caine are Harrie Hayes, Will Hislop, Halema Hussain, Emily Lloyd-Saini, James McNicholas, Jessica Ransom, Luke Rollason, Tom Stourton, Inel Tomlinson, and Timmika Ramsay.

For almost a year now, we’ve wondered just how low General Hospital’s Drew (Cameron Mathison) can go. Every time we suspect he’s hit his lowest level of depravity, he shocks us by doing something else that enrages the residents of Port Charles and General Hospital viewers at home.

Drew has literally gone from chivalrous hero, sacrificing life and limb for Carly (Laura Wright) and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), to the scumbag sleeping with his nephew/business partner’s wife. Of course, he slept with Willow after secretly sleeping with her mother. Then, as his affair with Willow blew up thanks to the nanny cam footage, Drew stuck his nose in Michael (Chad Duell) and Willow’s affairs as Michael was left fighting for his children and his life at the same time. (We still have a bone to pick with Drew for convincing Willow to use Michael’s medical scare as a bargaining chip.)

In the midst of all this, Drew has also been antagonizing Traci (Jane Elliot). Although Drew thought hiding behind his newly acquired political power would be enough to go toe to toe with Traci, he’s quickly learned that her bite is actually bigger than her bark, especially with Monica (Leslie Charleson) in her corner. Not only has Drew been tossed out of the Quartermaine mansion, but he’s also been stripped of the Quartermaine name.

Adding to this list, Drew has become adamant that he’s going to see to it that Sonny (Maurice Benard) loses his pier, continues to provoke Carly, is blackmailing Portia (Brooke Kerr) and is battling it out with Curtis (Donnell Turner).

With all that being said, we suspect Drew may go even lower. Recently on General Hospital, Willow signed guardianship papers putting Drew in charge of the kids she shares with Michael if something were to happen to her (we still don’t understand how that works with Michael being alive and well, but we digress). We suspect a bold move like that could foreshadow that the document will soon be put to the test.

It’s not hard to imagine that Willow gets in a car accident stateside, or she attempts to visit Michael in Germany and something happens to her plane. Either way, she could be left incapacitated for a bit, and Drew could use the opportunity to take control of Michael’s children.

This would likely infuriate the Quartermaine, Corinthos and Spencer clans, but Drew probably wouldn’t care. In fact, we think he could do the downright despicable thing of using the kids as pawns in his feuds. He may threaten to withhold them from the Quartermaines unless he gets use of the name back, may only allow Sonny to see them if he agrees to move his pier and may be spiteful to Carly, banning her from her grandchildren altogether.

Now we hate to think Drew would go this far, but we can’t rule out the possibility that Drew would even hire someone to temporarily kidnap Willow to get her out of Port Charles so he could make these blackmail deals happen. This sounds awful, but Drew’s actions over the past year leave us to assume nothing is off limits for this new soap villain.

If Paddington 2 sits at one end of the family movie quality scale, then A Minecraft Movie is at the other.

While Paddington 2 is a joy for kids and parents alike, A Minecraft Movie only works for children and, importantly, those who have played the computer game it's based on, which has sold over 300 million copies.

Any decent family movie owes it to the parents who pay for the tickets to actually offer them something. OK, not everything has the genius of Paddington 2 or Toy Story, but really, A Minecraft Movie fails on any level to provide anything for mums and dads.

I don’t think a single joke lands in the whole movie, and Jennifer Coolidge is in it! Anything Jennifer Coolidge is in normally makes me laugh, and I was delighted when she suddenly turned up as the Vince Principal to Henry, the child at the centre of the story.

However, the gag that her divorcee character falls for a non-talking villager — some character in the Minecraft world — because he listens to her barely raises a smile. The best part of the movie is probably the end credits when the villager gets a voice, and the voice is that of Toast of London’s Matt Berry, who, it's been reported, was originally lined up to play Steve before having to pull out due to scheduling difficulties.

The plot does that Jumanji thing of throwing everyone into the game with a very beardy Jack Black playing Steve, who, it was explained to me, was the original avatar in Minecraft. My son did his best to explain the various in-jokes, nudging me at one point to say the waiter character is a top Minecraft designer making a cameo.

He was chuckling away as the characters used various objects like swords, and Steve made a meal using chicken and lava.

But come on, what about anyone who doesn’t know the ins and outs of the game? Surely the movie has to work on some other level?

Also, I’m fairly sure a movie needs to create tension and make you care about the characters. It's hard to remotely care about the quest of Steve, Garrett (Jason Momoa), Natalie (Emma Myers), Dawn (Danielle Brooks), and Henry (Sebastian Hansen) as they try to retrieve some object or other to return them home.

If your children love Minecraft the game, they will love the movie

Having now watched a lot of family movies, this one very much falls into the camp of there being nothing for the parents at all. Sadly, Hollywood produces far more like this than gems like the Paddington movies.

A Minecraft Movie did at least achieve the prime goal of entertaining the kids. If your children love Minecraft, then I’d recommend the movie. But get a strong coffee in and some chocolate to get yourself through it.

My kids informed me after seeing the trailers that they want to watch Smurfs next, coming out in the summer — help!

Towards the end of January this year, General Hospital’s Michael (Chad Duell) was ushered off the soap’s canvas, sent to Germany to recover from his burns acquired during the explosion in Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse.

While we understand Duell was departing from the role of Michael after almost 15 years, and producers opted to handle his exit by taking the character out of Port Charles, given the increasing amount of drama revving up thanks to Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Carly (Laura Wright) over Michael’s kids, we’d say it’s time he return. Heck, we don’t like to agree with Drew on anything, but he was right when he said it’s time for Michael to stop hiding behind his mother and get back to Port Charles to battle the unpopular #Drillow duo.

After Lucy (Lynn Herring) announced that the annual Nurses Ball is in the near future, we couldn’t help but think that perhaps producers are quietly building to Michael’s return, using the event to usher him in. Not for nothing, the Nurses Ball has historically been an occasion in Port Charles where surprises unfold for the residents.

Now if we’re right, this all begs the question: with Duell not expected to step back into Michael’s shoes, what actor could do the honors? We have three guesses, but we’re actually hoping another General Hospital alum becomes the new Michael.

Our first guest is actually an alum of The Young and the Restless, Tyler Johnson. He previously played Theo Vanderway, a nephew of Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). Johnson would make a good fit in General Hospital as Michael, as he not only would be around the right age, but if he plays Michael in the way he played Theo, he could add a complexity to the businessman. With Michael having suffered another life-or-death ordeal thanks to Sonny’s ventures and feeling betrayed by Drew and Willow, we imagine him returning with an even darker persona than usual when he’s wronged. So Johnson may fit the bill.

Next up is Matthew Atkinson. Fans of The Bold and the Beautiful will recognize him as Thomas Forrester. He hasn’t been on the CBS soap in a while, so it’s possible he can take his talents to General Hospital. Again, Atkinson is the right age to portray Michael and we imagine he’d play a good, menacing aspect of the character, given how duplicitous Thomas has been. The only thing is, we don’t know how much The Bold and the Beautiful plans to use Atkinson’s services in the future.

If we had our say, former General Hospital star Drew Garrett would step back into the role of Michael. He portrayed the character before Duell, and he delivered a very solid performance of the character. From the moment Duell announced his departure from General Hospital, Garrett has always been our top choice to replace him. Garret had great onscreen chemistry with Benard and Wright, and we could picture his version of Michael truly giving Drew and Willow the fight they’ve been asking for.

Again, at the time of publication, there are no confirmed reports from the powers that be that Michael is returning to Port Charles for the Nurses Ball, or that the character has been recast. But we can dream, can’t we?

Devoted dad Billy's devastated to be walking away from his once happy family.

Later, as he packs his bags and leaves, Kim tells Billy he can stay at her holiday cottage until he finds somewhere else.

Outside the cafe, Sarah confronts Kammy and Jacob.

She's found out about the dirt bike race and warns Kammy that if it goes ahead, they're over.

Seeking out Jacob some time later, Kammy warns his rival their feud has now become personal.

For months now on General Hospital, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Carly (Laura Wright) have been at odds due to Willow cheating on Michael (Chad Duell) with Drew (Cameron Mathison).

Remarkably for Willow’s sake, Carly hasn’t resorted to her vengeful ways and attempted to blow up Willow’s life for hurting her son, even as Willow continues to move forward with the villainous congressman. Chalk it up to maturity or the fact that Carly has been distracted by Michael’s recovery and her own unpopular romance with Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna), but the Metro Court owner has spared Willow the usual Carly “payback” spirit.

With that being said, that may soon change with Willow pushing her luck. For starters, Willow continues to let Drew manipulate her and may soon let him manipulate her into moving in with him, much to Carly’s chagrin. Carly thinks that would be a huge mistake, especially with Michael still in Germany and their custody agreement fragile at best.

Adding to that, Willow has allowed Drew to talk her into some bad choices when it comes to using the kids as pawns in Drew’s twisted vendetta against Carly, Sonny (Maurice Benard) and the Quartermaines. Guided by Drew, Willow previously prevented Michael’s family from seeing him in the hospital as a way to force their hands about returning her kids (which she was technically entitled to have in the first place). Now we’re starting to think there’s a chance Willow will listen to Drew in limiting Carly and Sonny’s exposure to their grandchildren.

A few short weeks ago, Carly found herself lying in a hospital bed thanks to Valentin’s (James Patrick Stuart) failed murder plot against Jack. Pretty much everyone in town has warned Carly to stay away from him, given the danger he presents as a leader in the WSB. Combine this with the danger Sonny’s line of carries with it, and we can imagine Willow putting her foot down about the grandparents’ visitation of Wiley (Viron Weaver) and Amelia (Sequoia & Serenity Mork Macko), of course, with Drew’s influence.

In the following General Hospital preview clip for the week of April 7, Carly is seen lunging at someone with Jason (Steve Burton) stopping her. We suspect this could be due to Willow expressing her desire to limit Sonny and Carly’s presence around her children.

Should our theory ring true, we again suspect Carly will finally decide she’s tired of being civil. While she could want to slap Willow, we think Drew is the one who better be on the lookout. Carly knows her ex is the real problem in this equation, and she could either put pressure on Nina (Cynthia Watros) to step up their plan against him, or Carly could go rogue and hatch her own scheme. Now that she and Jack are official (for now, at least), she may have access to a whole new caliber of ways to deal with Drew Cain.

We’re almost positive that all the Duprees from Beyond the Gates have a deeply hidden secret, but at the moment, we’re largely focused on those of Martin (Brandon Claybon).

Since the soap premiered in February, it’s been teased that he has a deadly secret, and we’ve been scratching our heads to figure out what he did. He’s had nightmares and flashbacks about what occurred, but not enough pieces to this puzzle have been revealed to give a full picture. However, Anita (Tamara Tunie) and Vernon (Clifton Davis) clearly know about what occurred, as does Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett), who used the information to blackmail Dani (Karla Mosley) and the rest of the Duprees into attending his wedding to Hayley (Marquita Goings).

Then in the Beyond the Gates episode that aired on March 25, Anita and Vernon discussed Martin’s presidential aspirations and agreed he can’t possibly run. They fear his secret is too explosive to see the light of day, and should his opponents catch wind of his past, they’re bound to use it to stop him in his tracks. Furthermore, Vernon specifically notes, “There’d be no shielding Smitty and the kids from the fallout.”

Now, Vernon could have easily just meant that Martin’s family is likely to be embarrassed by Martin’s secret, but we started to think of the possibility that Martin’s mystery deals directly with his small clan. In particular, we developed a theory that it pertains to his children’s biological parents.

From what we can recall, Martin and Smitty (Mike Manning) adopted Tyrell (Jaden Lucas Miller) and Samantha (Najah Jackson) when they were young, but not much is known about their biological mother and father.

We can imagine Martin led the charge in adopting the children and did something illegal to ensure he and Smitty could get the kids. Then, a few years later, when Martin’s secret incident took place, one of the parents surfaced wanting Tyrell and Samantha back, but Martin blew his top, not wanting that to happen. As Martin went back and forth with this individual, perhaps things got too heated, and Martin lost control, killing the mother or father. If Martin later professed it was an accident, he could have leaned on his grandparents and Bill to help cover up the crime.

Let’s say things don’t play out this way, but slightly differently. Martin could have still led the charge to adopt Tyrell and Samantha through sketchy channels, but misled Smitty to believe everything was above board. But then years later, someone besides the biological parents came around claiming to know of Martin’s illegal maneuvers, and attempted to extort him. However again, a heated confrontation ensued and Martin accidentally killed this mystery person and had help covering up his actions.

We recognize that both theories seem wild and chaotic, but they fit within the realm of soapy drama. So do other theories we suppose, like the one claiming Martin had something to do with the death of Andre’s (Sean Freeman) parents. Beyond the Gates viewers will just have to keep watching to learn what skeleton falls out of Martin’s closet.

There has been a lot of Drew (Cameron Mathison) hate lately on General Hospital, but there’s more coming and I’m not sorry. I truly believe Drew’s unhinged obsession with Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) is going to end up hurting her in her custody fight when Michael (Chad Duell) recovers.

This man was a Navy SEAL, but he is acting with no discipline, no plan and a weird obsessiveness when it comes to Willow. Has anyone seen Scout (Cossette Abinante) lately? Has Drew even mentioned her? Father of the Year material for sure.

Drew is pushing everyone’s boundaries except Willow’s, who doesn’t seem to have any where he’s concerned. And that is not going to play well in family court. Even if it does come out that Michael is the father of Sasha’s (Sofia Mattsson) baby, he could still easily get primary custody of the kids. Let’s explore the case Michael can make against Willow.

The cheating

Michael’s one-night stand with Sasha shouldn’t affect the custody fight that much. While it was not ok for him to cheat, Willow did cheat first. And it was just once, whereas Willow kept cheating. I think that if the custody case goes to court a judge would see them as even on the affair front. A family court judge would be more concerned with what happens to the kids moving forward, not with what happened to split up the marriage.

Willow replacing Michael

One of the biggest problems that Willow is going to face in family court is the way that Drew has just pushed Michael aside and tried to immediately step into the role of “father” for Willow’s kids. Willow looks like an irresponsible mother because she jumped into a relationship with a new partner before her marriage was officially broken up.

Introducing Drew as a father figure to her kids by taking Wiley (Viron Weaver) to D.C. for Drew’s inauguration, and having him around the kids all the time can be seen as deliberately replacing Michael in the kids’ lives.

If she moves in with Drew, that will be terrible for her custody case because it looks bad for her to uproot the kids and move in with her new boyfriend so quickly while Michael fights to recover. But Drew probably won’t take no for an answer now that he’s bought a house for Willow and her kids.

The constant moving

Willow moves those kids around so much she’s going to give them whiplash. They have lived at the main house, the gatehouse and Nina’s (Cynthia Watros) apartment at various times recently. A judge may not look favorably upon such antics.

When the judge asks why she can’t keep them in a permanent home she will have to admit that she is moving them out of spite to goad Tracy (Jane Elliot). That will show the judge that Willow is petty and vindicative, willing to use her children as pawns.

Kids need stability and consistency. Willow’s mindset has been all over the map, and her address has been all over the map too. Any judge with a day of family court experience will realize that the kids are better off with Michael, who can give the children a stable home.

The best thing that Willow could do to help her custody case is stay put in the gatehouse and make it work. It’s absolutely nuts that she’s going to move the kids again out of spite because Tracy won’t let her boyfriend come over.

Drew Quartermaine is a menace with no boundaries

Drew himself is going to be what tanks Willow’s custody case though. His unhinged behavior is going to be brought up in court. Diane (Carolyn Hennesy) will definitely bring up his lying, cheating, blackmailing and other character crimes to show that he’s not fit to be a parent and that the kids shouldn’t be around him.

Practically everyone in Port Charles could take the stand to talk about Drew using his position as a congressman to bully them, blackmail them or try to improve his position like he did trying to get special favors from Anna (Finola Hughes) in exchange for police funding.

And once the press picks up on Carly’s (Laura Wright) confrontation with him at Metro Court, where she put all his dirty laundry on blast, his role as a congressman may be in jeopardy. With his job on the line, he will have to be in D.C. more, which creates an even more unstable home situation for Wily and Amelia.

Eventually, Willow is going to need to make a choice. Either her kids are the priority, or Drew is. It’s very possible that she will have to choose between having a relationship with Drew or having custody of her kids, because she probably won’t be able to have both.

High Potential episode 10 opens with kids playing on the playground. As one little girl goes down a covered slide there is a thump, and a scream. A second girl follows and there is another thump, and another scream. One of the parents tries to go up the slide from the bottom but something is blocking it. He pulls out the body of a woman.

The park is taped off and the LAPD crew arrive. Some of the nannies tell Oz (Deniz Akdeniz) and Daphne (Javicia Leslie) that the dead woman is a nanny named Tara Foley (Kate Boyer). Selena (Judy Reyes), Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) and Karadec (Daniel Sunjata) stand with the body as medical examiner Dr. Farzan (Kayvon Esmaili) tells them that Tara died from a blow to the head.

But Tara’s phone keeps dinging. Morgan puts on a glove and picks it up, seeing there are multiple messages from someone named Brett Lewis, so they start the investigation by finding him.

Chuck the Canuck

Brett Lewis (Rory O’Malley) and his husband (Jai Rodriguez) employed Tara to look after their son, Ward. They said that Tara mentioned a man with a limp and often reading a French newspaper seemed to be following her. Morgan knows there’s only one newsstand that sells French newspapers, so they stakeout the stand and find the guy. He’s private investigator, but former LAPD traffic cop, Charles Lavoie (Ken Marino).

Also known as “Chuck the Canuck”, Chuck knows Karadec very well. Chuck tells them he was hired by Brett to make sure Tara wasn’t mistreating Ward. Karadec and Morgan go to talk to Brett again.

Brett wanted proof that Tara was taking care of Ward because of posts in a Facebook group. It all started with their previous nanny, Rosa. Brett saw a post in the Brentwood Parents Facebook Group saying a child had been unattended at the library and had almost run into traffic. Based on the description given, Brett knew it was Ward. They fired Rosa and hired Tara. But soon after they hired Tara, Lewis saw more posts in the group talking about Tara being negligent. So, Brett hired Chuck to find out what was going on.

Brett shows Morgan the screenshots from the Facebook group where a mom, Carina Wilson (Eliza Coupe), was posting negative things about Tara. She was also the one who posted about the incident with Rosa.

The suspect pool widens

The next day, Chuck brings the 1500 photos he took of Tara to the LAPD. But Morgan and Karadec go to Carina’s house to talk with her directly.

She’s a hard-driving real estate exec who tells them she did write the post about Rosa, but she didn’t write any of the posts about Tara. She said she was so bullied by the other moms after her post about Rosa she deactivated her account.

With no solid leads, Karadec and Morgan head to Tara’s apartment to look around. They don’t find many clues that can help, but note Tara was Catholic and she had a number for an immigration lawyer written on a piece of paper. Nothing is adding up.

The next day at the LAPD, Oz, going through the photos Chuck took, notices there are a lot of photos of Rosa and Mark Wilson (Amir Talai), Carina Wilson’s husband. Selena has Daphne go talk to Mark Wilson, who says he and Tara were just friends, and reveals he has an alibi for the night she died. Frustrated, the detectives go back to the nannies at the park to see what they know.

The nannies tell Morgan and Karadec that Tara didn’t really join the group. Cynthia (Zylan Brooks) tells them the night Tara was killed she and the other nannies were all hanging out and that Tara might be alive if she was friendlier with them. Oksana (Irina Dubova), one of the nannies, crosses herself and says a blessing for Tara’s soul.

As Morgan and Karadec are leaving the park after talking to the nannies, Daphne calls them and tells them the moms in the Facebook group who posted negative things about Tara were fake profiles. Karadec and Morgan go talk to Carina again, thinking she could be behind the fake profiles. Carina reaffirms she only posted about Rosa, not Tara. She only happened to see what happened with Rosa because she was able to take her daughter to story time at the library that day.

The ah-ha moment

Morgan realizes all the negative posts about Tara were posted during the noon hour, when the nannies would be free because the kids were engaged at story time. The nannies infiltrated the parents group on Facebook to see what they were saying about them. Then, they made fake accounts to trash Tara because she wasn’t fitting into their clique.

Morgan tells Karadec she knows what it’s like to be on the outside of the mom clique and have people be nice to your face but trash you behind your back. She thinks Oksana was bullying Tara and also killed her.

When Oksana crossed herself at the park she crossed herself in the way that Russian Orthodox church members cross themselves, not the way that Catholics like Tara did. Morgan realizes Tara called the immigration lawyer to find out how to get someone deported. She then showed up at the Russian Orthodox church near the park on a Russian Orthodox holiday to confront Oksana, threatening to have Oksana deported for using fake accounts online, so Oksana attacked her. Tara ran to the park and hid in the slide, where she died.

Morgan and Karadec bring the other nannies into the station for questioning. Cynthia admits Oksana made them lie about being together. When Oksana is questioned, she admits to killing Tara because she would rather be in prison in the US than be deported back to Russia.

Emmerdale's Ruby Miligan learns Chas has exposed her dad's abuse in Tuesday's episode (ITV, 7.30pm, see our TV Guide for full listings).

Chas Dingle knows she has to come clean and is terrified.

With Ruby never having said a word about the sexual abuse her dad Anthony inflicted on her, Chas went and told Nicola when she heard he'd been left alone with teenager Angelica King.

At that moment, the blood drains from Ruby's face. Not wanting her daughter Steph ever to find out that Anthony abused her, she insists Chas tell the women she's got it all wrong.

Given the violent clash Nicola and Laurel secretly had with Anthony after Chas' claim, the guilt-racked friends are sent reeling.

Pretending to be grateful for setting them straight, Laurel melts down once Chas has left, worried that not only has she hurt a man, she's done it for nothing.

When Nicola reminds her that Anthony was attacking her when Laurel struck him, will that calm her down?

Meanwhile, with Anthony still "missing" Steph vents to her parents.

Knowing Ruby is a wreck, Caleb steps up and tries to reassure Steph, insisting it's normal for Anthony to vanish.

In the cafe, Moira listens as Amy talks about wanting to start a family. Encouraged by her mother-in-law, she prepares to bring it up with Matty.

In the shop, Pollard, who has Parkinson's, offloads to Kerry.

He's riddled with guilt about not having yet repaid the money he stole from Brenda.

Kerry urges him to see that Brenda would prefer he didn't push himself too hard and would rather wait.

But Kerry's not picking up on the cues and is underestimating how bad Pollard feels about the situation.

At the Depot, Caleb has something to say.

In the mid-1990s, a California woman named Laura Cowan was already having a rough time: her husband was in prison, and she was struggling to make ends meet with her three young children. Things, however, got exponentially worse when, following her husband's arrest, she sought shelter and support from an acquaintance who ended up taking Cowan and her children captive in his nailed-shut garage, sans heat, water, a bathroom or adequate food.

It sounds like the premise of a page-turning thriller, but it actually is a true crime story that's been turned into a Lifetime Original Movie. Premiering tonight, January 18 at 8pm Eastern Time, Girl in the Garage: The Laura Cowan Story is the latest title under the network's "Ripped from the Headlines" film umbrella. Paige Hurd stars as Laura, leading a cast that includes Stephen Bishop, Brad James, Shanica Knowles, Tracey Rooney, Sanaa Sade Salaam, Jackson Little, Jazzanae Sherman and Diego J. Torres. Manu Boyer is in the director's seat, with a screenplay written by scribe Avery O. Williams.

"When a family friend offers to move her and her children into his home temporarily, Laura lets out a sigh of relief, believing this is an act of kindness that will give her time to get back on her feet. Overnight, this blessing turns into a nightmare when Laura and her children realize they’ve been abducted," reads the movie's official synopsis. "Held captive in a cold and dark garage, Laura is repeatedly sexually assaulted by her abductor and her and her children are beaten and abused for years. One day, Laura manages to sneak a note to the outside world and authorities are able to rescue her and her family. Much to Laura’s surprise, her note not only lead the police to her and her family, but two other women and their children being held captive in the same house."

In a rarity on General Hospital, two members of one family are headed toward nasty custody battles over their children. Of course, we’re talking about Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Michael (Chad Duell).

For months, Sonny has been gearing up for a big showdown with Ava (Maura West) over their daughter Avery (Ava & Grace Scarola). The dimpled kingpin vowed to keep Avery away from her mother after Ava’s last ploy to manipulate Sonny when his bipolar medication was tampered with. Then their custody dispute stalled a bit while Ava was fighting to stay out of prison for the attempted murder of Kristina (Kate Mansi). However, now that Ric (Rick Hearst) successfully defended Ava and convinced a jury she was innocent, the feud between Ava and Sonny is back on.

Then there’s Michael. Now that his marriage is officially crumbling in the wake of everyone learning about Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) tawdry affair and she moved in with Nina (Cynthia Watros), the soon-to-be exes are also inching toward a nasty custody battle over Wiley (Viron Weaver) and Amelia (Sequoia & Serenity Mork Macko). Especially, since Nina secured Martin (Michael E. Knight) as Willow’s divorce attorney and served Michael separation papers without Willow’s knowledge. Michael was holding out some hope he and Willow could reconcile, but Nina’s move just stirred the pot in a big way.

With all that being said, these two Corinthos men are in unenviable positions as they don’t want to lose access to their children, and we have to ask, will they both prove victorious in court?

Back to Sonny, he is one of the powerful people in Port Charles, with money, access to certain politicians and a knack of doing what it takes to win. Plus, he’s a great father and is likely to have plenty of people willing to testify to that fact. Now we can’t ignore that he’s also a mob boss (alleged for the purposes of court) with a history of arrests. He was convicted of murder once upon a time, even though he was pardoned by the governor of New York.

Looking at Ava, she may be a successful art gallery owner, but she is also the town pariah. She’ll probably have a harder time gathering people to testify to her “good character” and maternal instincts aside from Nina and Trina (Tabyana Ali). Additionally, Ava has had her fair share of arrests and ties to organized crime (again, alleged for the purposes of court). We can’t forget that she is currently experiencing a cashflow problem now that her Cassadine divorce settlement appears to have been taken.

So if we had to guess who would prove victorious between Sonny and Ava, we’d venture to say that Sonny may win. However, we don’t think he’ll completely shut Ava out of Avery’s life given how much the little girl loves her mother.

In a head-to-head between Michael and Willow, the circumstances are a bit different. Like Sonny, Michael also served a very brief stint in prison for murder; however, that was a while ago and he’s become quite the “model” citizen. He helps to run Aurora and once led his family business, ELQ. Plus, as a Quartermaine, he has many connections in Port Charles with judges and politicians. Additionally, he has the fighting spirit of a Spencer coursing through his veins, and if need be, he can color outside of the lines utilizing his Corinthos name.

Willow may have come to Port Charles as this sweet and innocent woman, but she’s far from that. Courts may frown upon the fact that she ruined her marriage by sleeping with her husband’s uncle in her daughter’s playroom. (Yes, Michael slept with Sasha [Sofia Mattsson], but that was reactionary to Willow and it’s a tightly held secret.) Given Willow’s actions, she also lacks allies in Port Charles sans her mother and Drew. But to her benefit, she’s not been convicted of any major crimes and she has Nina in her corner, who has no problem getting scrappy to help her daughter.

It’s harder to predict if Michael or Willow will win in a custody dispute, and we think things could boil down to one person… Carly (Laura Wright). During the week of December 16, she had a conversation with Jason (Steve Burton) about Drew sleeping with Willow, and Jason cautioned his bestie to let Michael handle the situation. She reluctantly agreed to do just that, but also said if the opportunity arose to get payback on Drew, she’d take it.

History has shown that Carly is a fierce mama bear and has a hard time just sitting idly by if her children are hurting. If she does wind up going rogue to enact revenge, we can see it backfiring and hurting Michael’s custody case.

Even if she just goes after Drew, her actions could set off a chain reaction that proves detrimental to Michael’s cause. So if she becomes an x-factor here, Michael may lose custody of his kids, temporarily at least. Also, we doubt Willow will be too vindicative and keep her son and daughter away from their father.

We have to admit, the reaction of General Hospital’s Michael (Chad Duell) to the revelation that his wife slept with his uncle has been pretty tamed. While he’s unloaded on Drew (Cameron Mathison) for his betrayal, Michael hasn’t taken any of his frustrations out on Willow (Katelyn MacMullen).

In fact, despite her being a willing participant in her affair with Drew, Michael hasn’t placed any blame on his wife for all the hurt and betrayal. Now Michael’s mind-boggling reaction may be due to the guilt he feels for sleeping with Sasha (Sofia Mattsson), but we’re still shocked that he doesn’t appear to be angry at Willow at all.

The same can’t be said for Carly (Laura Wright). During the week of December 9 on General Hospital, she eviscerated both Drew and Willow in some must-see-moments of daytime. She even was savvy enough to follow Willow and Nina (Cynthia Watros) who snuck off to try and rush Michael and Willow’s children off the property. Nina convinced Willow to take the kids to make her position strong in a potential custody battle, and Carly suspected that’s what the women were trying to do.

That brings us to the episode that aired on December 16. In it, Carly stood face-to-face with Willow and Nina as the mother/daughter duo tried to sneak Wylie (Viron Weaver) and Amelia (Sequoia & Serenity Mork Macko) of the Quartermaine Estate. After some posturing between the two sides, Michael walks in and gets Carly to stand down.

Once Willow and Nina are gone, Carly tells Michael he just made a mistake letting the children leave as it could come back to bite him in a custody trial. However, Michael defends his actions, not wanting to put his kids through what he went through when Sonny (Maurice Benard) took him away from Carly.

With all that being said, we can’t help but think as civil as Michael may want to keep things between him and Willow for the children’s sake, Carly may be proven right. We can imagine a scenario in which Willow and Drew don’t cut each other off and start to carry on an open romance. After all, Willow and Drew still have feelings for each other, and Michael may soon inform Willow that he actually cheated on her in retaliation. Should these things happen, you better believe the tension between Willow and Michael will heat up.

If tensions run high and a custody war breaks out, Michael may not have the upper hand as Nina suggested. Yes, it’s Willow’s fault her marriage to Michael fell apart, and yes, Michael is well-connected and wealthy as a Quartermaine, Corinthos and Spencer. However, Michael’s past isn’t so squeaky clean, nor is his family’s.

Michael once spent time in Pentonville for murdering Claudia (Sarah Joy Brown) in self-defense of his mother. Then when you look at Carly, Sonny and Jason (Steve Burton), the trio have their own history of arrests and convictions (in Sonny’s case). Plus, the Quartermaines have decades' worth of scandals to analyze. With Nina being wealthy and able to hire the best attorneys (which we assume will be Ric [Rick Hearst]), Willow could try to paint Michael and his family as unsuitable to care for children.

Oh, and we can’t forget Drew in this equation. As a bonafide politician now, he may be able to pull some strings to help influence a judge into awarding custody to Willow.

Either way, a win for Willow could devastate Michael and make him a desperate father. Could Michael be pushed to take his children and leave Port Charles if the legal system works against him? It’s something we have to consider, especially since Duell is slated to exit the role of Michael at the top of the new year, and no plans have been announced for a recast.

Now we also have to consider that Michael with all his Quartermaine, Corinthos and Spencer backing does actually win custody of the kids despite what Willow and her side throws at him. If that proves to be the cace, we can still picture Michael leaving town with Wylie and Amelia for a while to regroup after a nasty custody battle. Perhaps he’ll take the kids to Sonny’s island for a bit, which again sets up an exit for Duell’s Michael.

This is all largely speculation at the moment, but we can’t help but think that Carly’s words were foreshadowing rough times to come.

The Yellowstone is preparing for the biggest yard sale you’ve ever seen in Yellowstone season 5 episode 13. Beth (Kelly Reilly) is auctioning off just about everything from the ranch that she can in order to be able to pay off mortgages and loans that will in turn help pay off the inheritance tax for the ranch. That includes the horses that Travis (Taylor Sheridan) is training in Texas. But since Beth doesn’t know or trust Travis, she books a flight so she can oversee the sale. Rip (Cole Hauser) warns her about what Travis is like, but she reminds him she can protect herself.

We get a few quick looks at plotlines away from the Yellowstone as well. The first involves Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) lamenting that there is nothing he can do (legally) to stop the pipeline, saying his people have to go to war. Elsewhere, the fallout from Sarah Atwood’s death and involvement in John’s murder hits Market Equities. Meanwhile, Jamie (Wes Betnley) is shocked to hear that evidence he and Sarah were romantically involved has been leaked, but he quickly realizes that it was Beth. He calls his sister/mortal enemy, but despite his threats that exposing him will destroy the Dutton family legacy, Beth reminds him she promised to destroy him, and she keeps her promises.

Leaving the ranch?

Kayce (Luke Grimes) arrives back at the ranch from his successful mission to scare Grant, telling Monica (Kelsey Asbille) that it was to make sure no one follows them when they walk away from the ranch. Monica is surprised to hear Kayce say they’re leaving, but Kayce says he's been trying to leave the ranch behind his whole life, now he’s determined to do it.

The Yellowstone cowboys that were in Texas also get back to the ranch. Teeter (Jen Landon) immediately goes to the bunkhouse to see what’s left behind of Colby’s. Ryan (Ian Bohen) attempts to follow her, but Walker (Ryan Bingham) offers to go instead, knowing this is not an easy situation for him either as Colby was his best friend.

Teeter is upset that the bunk is empty and at the horse that killed Colby. Walker tells her it won’t help; instead, he offers her the peaceful thought that Colby is getting to do what he loves forever. Lloyd (Forrie J. Smith), meanwhile, gives Colby’s hat to Teeter.

Ryan then talks with Rip, asking if they should be looking for jobs with the ranch selling everything off. Only expecting daywork for the foreseeable future, Rip tells him that’s probably a good idea (he plans to keep Lloyd and Carter [Finn Litte] on to try and rebuild the ranch). When Ryan asks for more details about what happened with Colby, Rip says he was just doing his job, being a cowboy.

The art of the deal

In Texas, Beth meets Travis as he is playing strip poker with a bunch of women. Not a great first impression, especially as Travis has missed multiple calls that there are buyers waiting to see the Dutton's horse.

Once at the arena though, Travis shows what value he brings to Beth. In addition to putting on an impressive performance, he shrewdly gets the buyers to pay $3 million for the horse (up from a starting price of $2 million) by using his maintenance crew as decoy buyers.

After seeing this, Beth wants Travis to come up and put on a similar kind of show at the auction on the ranch. Travis points out that he doesn’t make a commission from an auction, but his 10% rate is too steep for Beth. With Beth revealing the tough state they’re in, Travis offers to play strip poker for it: if Beth wins, he comes up to help, no commission; if he wins, Beth takes her clothes off. Beth agrees. She gets a full house, three queens and two nines, but Travis has four aces, meaning he wins. While Beth threatens that Rip will kill him for this, she starts to undress to honor the bet. Travis stops her, saying he was just messing around; of course, he’ll come and help.

When Beth gets back to Montana she asks Rip how he could be friends with a guy like Travis? He explains that years ago Travis was training horses for John and they went to a bar one night. Rip got into a fight with a load of railroad workers, but Travis came to his aid. They still got the crap kicked out of them, but Travis kept a good disposition and then afterward, walked right back into the bar and got his and Rip’s hat, earning the respect (or perhaps fear) of the railroad workers. How many people have friends like that?

Jamie seeks counsel

With the new info connecting him to Sarah out in the world, Jamie goes to talk with Christina (Katherine Cunningham), his ex-girlfriend and mother to his son. He admits that he slept with Sarah, but says he had nothing to do with John’s death. Christina asks if Sarah was involved in John’s death; yes, but Jamie only knew that after it happened. Christina scolds him for not arresting her. But Jamie says he was worried about what the people she hired would do as well as him looking complicit. Christina points out it doesn’t look like it, Jamie is complicit in all this.

Knowing what happens to Jamie could impact their son, Christina offers to help. After getting a complete rundown of the potential pitfalls, Christina tells him to hold a press conference to announce an investigation into Sarah and John’s murders, clarify that he only worked with Sarah on the Market Equities deal and deny reports of their affair, praise John’s work and the greater meaning of his death and promise to do everything to avenge it. He has to do everything he can to show Sarah was guilty, because if she did it, then it all dies with her. She is sure to emphasize to Jamie that this speech will determine his entire future.

Acts of kindness

As the auction gets underway, Monica asks Beth if this will raise enough for the inheritance tax? Beth admits no, but it’ll help with the mortgage payment. However, even that is only temporary. She says they just need to string it along until they can find the right solution. Kayce then tells them that John’s body is ready to be picked up for the funeral. Monica offers to handle it, saying no child should have to do that.

Later, Beth sees Lynelle (Wendy Moniz) at the auction. Knowing the relationship she had with John, she invites her to the funeral, joining the family and the Yellowstone cowboys for an intimate proceeding. Lynelle accepts.

Beth continues her generous overtures with Teeter, inviting her out to the bar to mess with tourists so she can take her mind off Colby for a bit. Beth has lost none of her touch, quickly eviscerating a guy who attempts to pick her up. When Teeter gives it a try, she goes for a more aggressive approach, stepping up on and cussing a guy out until he backs off. Beth realizes this might not be the best game for Teeter. Still, Teeter thanks Beth for taking her out, but the pain remains. Beth says it never goes away; they both have holes in their hearts. How can they fix it, Teeter asks? When Beth figures it out she’ll let her know.

Kayce’s plan

Kayce seems rather upbeat at the auction, which surprises Monica. He explains it’s because he has a plan, one that he believes guarantees the future of the ranch. But he’s not telling anyone just yet.

The official bidding for the auction begins after a nice memorial for John and Colby. All told, the Duttons make $30 million dollars from everything. That’s enough to buy them another year, Beth tells Kayce.

Kayce then has a business question for her: if she sold him her car, which is worth $300,000, for just $1, would that be illegal? She says it’s stupid, but no, it's not illegal. Kayce continues, asking if the sales tax would be based on the worth of the car or the price paid? Beth confirms what it was paid for.

She’s confused by these questions until it hits her — Kayce plans to give the ranch to someone who will presumably keep it preserved as it is. But who? That’s something he’s keeping a secret for now, though I’m sure most of us have a guess (mine is Rainwater). We’ll find out soon enough though.

With no Skywalker or baby Yoda in sight, the world of Star Wars is getting a brand new adventure in the Disney Plus original series Skeleton Crew. While the series definitely feels a bit more geared toward a younger audience, Star Wars fans of all ages are likely curious as to what this new series has in store.

Part of that is because Star Wars is admittedly in a bit of a rut right now. The most recent Star Wars series, The Acolyte, was a contentious release by Disney Plus, which despite being rated “Fresh” by critics was a much more mixed bag with fans (unfortunately, in some cases, for toxic reasons). Meanwhile, what’s going on with Star Wars movies is up in the air, with numerous projects in various stages of development (only The Mandalorian spinoff movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, seems on firm footing right now). Can Skeleton Crew reignite a fandom that’s a bit down right now?

The Skeleton Crew season finale premieres on Disney Plus at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT on Tuesday, January 14.

In order to watch Skeleton Crew you must be a Disney Plus subscriber. There are a few options for that in the US: there’s the standalone streaming service (available with or without ads); Disney Plus is included as part of Hulu with Live TV; or you can combine the streaming service with Hulu and ESPN Plus with the Disney Bundle. They are joined on their adventure by Jude Law. Helping to guide Skeleton Crew as executive producers are Star Wars TV staples Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and Kathleen Kennedy, as well as Watts, Ford and Colin Wilson. Meanwhile the show’s producers are Susan McNamara and John Bartnicki.

A pair of Star Wars veterans are also going to be directing episodes of the new series with Bryce Dallas Howard and Lee Isaac Chung. The series will also see notable directors taking on Star Wars for the first time, like Watts, The Green Knight director David Lowery, Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All at Once helmers the Daniels and Beef director Jake Schreier.

In the weeks since General Hospital’s Sam (Kelly Monaco) has died, there’s been a lot of discussion about what may happen to her children, Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) and Scout (Cosette Abinante).

Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) has already let it be known that she wants her grandchildren to come live with her. However, the problem with that is both Danny and Scout have their fathers in town, so there’s no guarantee that Alexis will see that happen. Danny has already asked Jason (Steve Burton) about living with him, and Drew (Cameron Mathison) has pledged to be there for Scout.

Of course, Danny and Scout just going with their respective father isn’t as cut and dry either. As has been said a few times recently, Sam would likely want Danny and Scout raised under the same roof, and Jason and Drew don’t live in the same house. And while the twin brothers are both Quartermaines, only Drew currently resides at the Quartermaine Estate, and any hopes of Jason moving into his familial birthright may have shattered with his epic beatdown of Drew in retaliation for the politician sleeping with Michael’s (Chad Duell) wife, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen). (Personally, we think Drew has had it coming.)

Then there’s the Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Rocco (Finn Carr) factor. Dante and Sam made quite the home for Danny, Scout and Rocco, and the trio have become rather close. Splitting the three kids up now as they grieve is also something the adults have to consider.

With all that being said, we can’t help but believe that Sam provided some direction in her last will and testament, which likely will be revealed after the funeral. However, what could she have possibly said? In recent years, she’s blasted Jason and Drew in some capacity for leaving her to raise their children by herself. Heck, both siblings sacrificed time with their kids to bail Carly (Laura Wright) out of a bind. Did Sam trust the two men to stick around to take care of Danny and Scout?

Also, would Sam have really asked Dante to take custody of Danny and Scout? She may have liked them being raised by the Port Charles cop and with a bonus brother, but bypassing Jason and Drew would be a slap in their faces. So what was Sam's dying wish?

If we had to guess, Sam’s last wishes as it pertains to her children are that they live at the Quartermaine Estate, and that Jason and Drew raise the children to keep Danny and Scout close. Before she died, Drew hadn’t been elected, so he wasn’t for sure headed to Washington, D.C. Additionally, Drew and Jason were cordial at the very least as a fight hadn’t broken out between them. However, with Drew now a congressman and bad blood between the brothers, how could this all work?

Well, there’s a chance that Drew may attempt to bounce back and forth between Port Charles and D.C., allowing Scout to stay at the estate with her brother and cousins when he’s gone. That could ease some of the tension if Drew isn’t there 24/7, should Jason put on his big boy pants and move into the house for Danny’s sake. And considering all Jason has put Danny through, we think he could muster up some strength to stay at his family home.

Now in good old soapy fashion, let’s say that Drew’s political career ends before it really begins thanks to Michael and his hurt feelings. Michael still has a video of his uncle sleeping with his wife. Should that footage make its way to the press, the scandal could push Drew to resign, leaving him to run Aurora back in Port Charles. If Drew, Jason and Michael all stay at the Quartermaine Estate full-time for the sake of the kids, then that would be a hotbed of drama and chaos. (Although, Michael could easily escape the drama and take his family to Carly’s until he found a suitable home.)

We’d be remiss if we didn’t theorize a caveat for Jason in maintaining custody of Danny. Sam may stipulate that Jason needs to finally cut ties to his criminal relationship with Sonny (Maurice Benard) to ensure the safety of their son. But could Jason really part ways with his business partner and friend?

Slow Horses star Gary Oldman is to read a CBeebies Bedtime Story as part of Friday's BBC Children in Need show… and we've been assured he won't do it in the style of Jackson Lamb!

Oldman has enjoyed huge success recently playing foul-mouthed Jackson in four series of the Apple TV Plus sensation, but it's probably for the best that he's not bringing Jackson out for Children in Need 2024. And don't worry Pudsey hasn't been dispatched to Slough House.

Of course, children know the acclaimed actor for playing Sirius Black in 2004's Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, widely seen as the best of the Harry Potter movies.

Now, Oldman is reading a story written especially for BBC Children in Need by Claire Taylor. It is based on a true story and will be accompanied by illustrations from Tim Budgen.

Oldman says: "Stories have a unique way of inspiring imagination and hope in young minds. Hope for young people seems particularly in short supply these days. So I am very honoured to be reading this very special CBeebies Bedtime Story for BBC Children in Need. I hope our story brings warmth and encouragement and hope to children and families watching on the night."

Slow Horses fans will be pleased to know that season 5 is in the works, once again starring Oldman.

Oldman is far from the first very famous name to read a CBeebies bedtime story. Tom Hardy, David Schwimmer, Derek Jacobi and Eddie Redmayne have all read stories.

When I started watching Netflix's new documentary called The Lost Children, I thought I could tell what it'd be like from the synopsis... however I was proven wrong in a really pleasant surprise.

Released on Thursday, November 14, The Lost Children is a feature-length documentary about a plane crash in 2023 which saw four Indigenous children lost in the Colombian Amazon rainforest. If you watch documentaries or other videos on Netflix, you probably know how this goes: we see what it was like for them during the crash, how they survived the initial time in the jungle, how they overcame their fear to thrive in their new situation and how, eventually, they were rescued.

However that's not what The Lost Children is about at all, and the actual story it tells is refreshingly novel — I found myself learning a lot more about Colombian politics and culture than I expected (from a baseline of "not much").

Instead of focusing on the lost children, themselves, the documentary is mostly about the efforts of rescuers to find the children, and their quest was a lot more storied than I'd imagined.

Most interesting to me were the tensions between the Colombian army and Indigenous searchers, both of whom were hunting for the children. As we learn in the documentary, decades of conflict have sown discord between these peoples, and they're initially reticent to work together.

So when they find themselves relying on each other in their quest, it creates some particularly heartwarming moments when skepticism has to be put away in order to complete their mission. The documentary lingers on one particular photo of a camouflage-clad soldier and a civilian hugging after hearing the news of the rescue that summarizes this, and a moment when the largely-successful group of Indigenous trackers falls ill and requires the army's support, has some really memorable videos too.

Sure, rescuing missing kids is heartwarming too, but I think most viewers like me will be expecting this ending and so will be steeled against it. So seeing people put away past conflict for the greater good will come as a tender surprise!

What guides this version of the narrative is lots of footage that was shot by various participants during the hunt; obviously, the missing children weren't running around with video cameras, so we mostly see the adults' perspective. Seeing the body-cam footage of soldiers as they explore the jungle or the videos that explorers shot on their own personal devices lends the story a lot of urgency that you often miss from interview subjects. That's doubly true given that, as the doc points out, the jungles are inhabited by FARC guerilla fighters who are enemies of the army.

The Lost Children was directed by Orlando von Einsiedel, who won an Oscar for The White Helmets about humanitarians in Syria (that movie is also on Netflix). He also directed Virunga, about rangers and conservationists in the Congo protecting a national park from poachers and armed militias, From Devil's Breath about Portuguese wildfires and many more similar stories about dramatic narratives. So The Lost Children is just the latest in an impressive filmography for the director.

If you're looking for something to watch on Netflix, The Lost Children is a great and heartwarming watch, and it joins the likes of Mountain Queen and Yintah as one of the best movies you can watch on the streamer right now.

Get ready to don those Pudsey ears and dig deep as a whole host of TV favourites, music stars and special guests team up for Children in Need, the BBC’s annual night of fun and fundraising this Friday!

Vernon Kay, Rochelle Humes, Mel Giedroyc, Chris Ramsey, Lenny Rush and Ade Adepitan host the three-hour star-studded spectacle featuring hilarious sketches and show-stopping performances to raise awareness - and cash! - for the many Children in Need-funded projects across the UK.

Before Pudsey’s big night, though, BBC1’s Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr gets creative with its first-ever celebrity special in which six famous faces descend on the CiN-funded Sandwell Young Carers Project (SYCP) to create magical makeovers for the young carers it supports.

Split into three teams are comedian Darren Harriott and podcast host Joanne McNally; comedian Jon Richardson, and model and TV presenter Leomie Anderson; and ex-Spandau Ballet star and actor Martin Kemp and his wife, singer Shirlie Kemp. Design icon Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen joins resident judge Michelle Ogundehin to decide which pair will clinch the title. 

Host Alan Carr reveals what’s in store…

What can you tell us about SYCP?

"Sandwell is an unexpected little jewel in the West Midlands that shines a light on what these amazing children do on a daily basis; trying to hold everything together while learning skills to go out into the world themselves. When the kids saw Pudsey, all their faces lit up. It was magical. There are many places like Sandwell across the UK desperate for investment and a bit of TLC - I’m just pleased we could do this for one of them."

Which of the celebrities impressed you? And whose design skills left a lot to be desired?

"I liked Shirley Kemp; she had a nice style and seemed like a really sympathetic designer. I wouldn’t let Joanne McNally anywhere near my house - she painted an antique fireplace bright pink! Sometimes, on this show, people might suggest doing something a bit odd then, when you see it, you change your mind. Not this time. When I left, I still hated that fireplace!"

How will the design transformations throughout the centre help the kids who use SYCP?

"One thing I’ve learned from hosting Interior Design Masters is that colours, textures, wallpaper plus love, enthusiasm and some simple, affordable design hacks can really improve a space and make you feel better. Martin’s music room was a place where these kids could go and be creative - he even donated one of his guitars from his Spandau Ballet days. The music room had real drama - and the stage just had to be painted ‘Gold’, didn’t it?"

Did you find this special edition of Interior Design Masters emotional?

"I was definitely ugly crying at times and I’m pretty sure even Pudsey had a little cry, too. The celebrities really cared about what they were doing; they were at the centre from 7am to 7pm every day and took it really seriously. The kids’ reaction to the makeovers at the end was a complete joy. Did I help? No, I’m rubbish at DIY - I can't even put a shelf or wallpaper up!"

Hannah Montana, I think, is possibly the worst thing I've ever watched and I've watched a LOT as it's my job!

Now, as a middle-aged man, I understand that I am in no way the target audience for this show, but I've been forced to watch it with my nine-year-old daughter, who obviously thinks it's wonderful (more on that later).

Previously, I've enjoyed a lot of the shows we've watched together including the various TV series based on Jacqueline Wilson's creation Tracy Beaker. The Tracy Beaker TV series are funny, moving, well acted and they have a plot.

But watching Hannah Montana on Disney Plus I'm seriously struggling! To anyone lucky enough not to have seen it's an American sitcom that revolves around teenager Miley Stewart (Miley Cyrus), who leads a double life as pop star Hannah Montana.

So far the most enjoyable bit has been seeing a string of famous faces popping up including Dolly Parton, who describes herself in real life as Miley’s "honorary godmother", Only Murders in the Building star Selena Gomez who plays Miley’s enemy Mikayla, and oddly Dwayne Johnson aka the Rock! I was also intrigued to discover that the actor playing her dad is actually Miley's real dad, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus.

I'm assuming the show is meant to be funny because there's annoying canned laughter but so far I’ve not laughed once.

Actually, that is a lie, I did laugh when the Rock turned up but that was more to do with wondering why the Rock was in it. Every scene is hugely overacted and the characters are inane and annoying especially her brother Jackson, who seems to think he's funny but isn't on any level (although my daughter says he's hilarious!).

We’ve just watched the Rock’s episode, "Don't Stop ’Til You Get the Phone", the 17th episode of season 2, which means — oh no — we still have 42 episodes of this hell to go! Agh! Perhaps I could cancel our Disney Plus subscription?

However, my nine-year-old completely disagrees with me and thinks I’m missing out on the show’s genius. She says: "It is really good because the character Jackson is always fighting with Rico and I find that funny as Rico is always playing pranks on Jackson.

"Also, it's quite fun how Miley is secretly Hannah Montana and has a double life as she has friends as Hannah and enemies as Hannah but also has friends and enemies as Miley. And her best friends Lilly and Oliver know that she’s Hannah which is fun because they get to dress in disguises as well."

In the end, who am I to judge? This show isn't aimed at me and my nine-year-old's opinion is ultimately a far more useful indicator as to whether your child will enjoy the show. It was clearly a hit as it got four seasons and oh no, that reminds me I still have 42 more episodes to sit through... and someone's told me there's a movie as well!

I'm just thankful my son's watching The Simpsons.

"I could never hate my kids, guys, I could never hate my kids...with that said," Seth Meyers hilariously begins Dad Man Walking, the comedian's first HBO Original Comedy Special, which premieres tonight on the Home Box Office network. Known for his Emmy-winning work behind the desk at Saturday Night Live and Late Night with Seth Meyers, the famous funnyman usually targets his sharp wit and dry delivery on topical news and cultural events, but for this new special, the comic is shifting his focus to the everyday hilarity of his personal life. 

Taped at The Vic Theatre in Chicago, Seth Meyers: Dad Man Walking "showcases Meyers’ effortless conversational style as he offers up hilarious reflections on family, generational legacies, and why his kids provide the best material for his comedy," per HBO. Topics will range from the chaos of raising three kids to navigating different communication styles in marriage to the proper way to cross the street in New York City. 

As for ditching the political for the personal in the new special, the comedian told TheWrap: “I think there’s that thing, before you have a wife and children, you’re like, ‘I don’t know why people write jokes about that,’ and then you have it, and you’re like, ‘Oh, because it’s the entirety of your existence.’”

Directed by Neal Brennan and performed and written by Meyers, Dad Man Walking is the star's second comedy special, after 2019's Lobby Baby, which premiered on Netflix and centered around the dramatic birth of his second son in the lobby of Meyers's apartment building. 

Seth Meyers: Dad Man Walking debuts tonight, October 26 on HBO at 10pm Eastern Time. To watch the special live, you'll need access to HBO—thankfully, the channel is available with most cable TV subscriptions. However, if you've cut the cord, you can watch live simulcasts of HBO channels via several live TV streaming service options, including Hulu with Live TV, YouTube TV and DirecTV Stream. You also have access to HBO programming, including Meyers's new comedy special, through the network's streaming platform, Max.

The Primrose Railway Children brings to life Jacqueline Wilson's novel, inspired by E. Nesbit's timeless classic.  

The 90-minute BBC film stars Kevin McKidd (Grey's Anatomy, Trainspotting) and Nina Toussaint-White (Bodyguard, Witness 3).

Dame Jacqueline Wilson says: "I'm so looking forward to seeing this exciting new adaptation of my book 'The Primrose Railway Children'. It's going to be a special treat for all the family."  

The book has been adapted by Tom Bidwell (The Velveteen Rabbit, The Irregulars).

The Primrose Railway Children will be shown on CBBC on Sunday, December 1 at 5.30 pm and it will also be available on BBC iPlayer from that date.

Plot

The BBC says it's "a story about growing up, being displaced, and finding your way in a community that seems alien".  

Teasing the plot, the makers say: "The story follows Phoebe, her older sister Becks, younger brother Perry and their mum who are living a comfortable life in Glasgow when suddenly they are uprooted from their lives and moved to the remote highlands of Scotland."

Talking about her character Sarah, Nina Toussaint-White says: "Sarah is a strong, hard-working mother who will go to the ends of the earth to protect her children. In the film, we see her carry the world on her shoulders as she scrambles to hold everything together in a bid to protect her kids from finding out the truth about their father’s absence and breaking their hearts. 

"I absolutely loved playing Sarah. Throughout the film, you're taking on a real emotional rollercoaster as we learn the truth about Rob's disappearance through Sarah's eyes. She represents the heart of the film which of course was a true blessing to play."

Cast

Kevin McKidd and Nina Toussaint-White play parents Rob and Sarah Robinson. As for the three children, Ava McCarthy plays Phoebe, Ida Brooke plays Becks and Tylan Bailey plays Perry.

Sixth form hasn’t exactly been a walk in the park for Nick, and while he’s put on a brave face all year to support Charlie, it’s all catching up with him a bit, especially as the two boys contemplate having sex for the first time.

Meanwhile, Elle is struggling after what happened during her radio interview. Let’s recap this new episode of Heartstopper season 3.

Being there for each other

The friendship between Tara and Nick is perhaps one of the most precious things on Heartstopper. It doesn’t get a lot of screen time, but each scene between those two is an opportunity to learn more about what is really going with them. As they catch up after a dog walk, Tara explains to Nick that sixth form has been a very stressful year for her and while she enjoys going to ballet classes, the commute there is adding to the stress load. He offers to drive her there from now on, and while she appreciates the offers, she reminds Nick that he needs to look after himself more and not always care for others.

Meanwhile at Lambert’s, Elle is having a hard time with her art ever since the radio interview that was too focused on transgender issues. Tao can tell she is feeling down but he doesn’t quite know how to help, and Elle isn’t even sure she wants to talk to him about it. During a conversation with her friends Felix and Naomi, she reveals she thinks Tao cannot properly understand how she feels.

Later on, we find Tao reviewing footage he filmed of Elle and that gives him an idea. When she comes over afterwards, he explains he loves making videos for his loved ones to help cheer them up, so he made one for her and they watch it together. Elle is very touched and finally tells him she had been feeling like the whole world is against her, and that she wasn’t sure she could talk to him about it because he might not understand. He acknowledges that but promises that he will always try.

Together also shines a light on another couple: Darcy and Tara. The former comes to watch Tara during one of her ballet classes and then uses this chance to tell her that they are grateful for the support she gave them throughout the year, especially as they explored being nonbinary.

Teenage hormones

One thing is obvious, Nick and Charlie want to have sex and their teenage hormones are raging. It feels electric when Nick touches Charlie, he can’t stop looking at him longingly and thinking about it. But there are also other things on Nick’s mind, things much less fun than sex, like figuring out which university to apply to and what to do with the rest of his life.

So, of course, Nick would much rather focus on sex first, but he and Charlie have a hard time finding the right moment. During a sex education class, Charlie explains to Isaac and Tao that he is nervous about it and doesn’t know how to bring the topic up again with Nick. The whole notion of “doing it for the first time” is just as nerve-wracking for him as it is for Nick though, who hears a classmate boast about it like it’s no big deal.

Thankfully, as much as he has tried to make it sound like he was an instant expert on the subject, Tao admits to Charlie that his first time with Elle wasn’t exactly perfect or effortless, and he goes on to pretty much say that it takes two to figure it out because no one knows what they are doing when they lose their virginity. On his end, Nick talks about it with Tara, but she cannot really tell him much about sex between boys, can she? What she can do, however, is remind Nick that he has been through a lot this year, because Charlie being ill was also tough on him, and she encourages him to acknowledge that.

Tired of trying to find a moment alone, Nick suggests to Charlie that they should have a sleepover at his house, just the two of them with no one around. Charlie says he will ask his parents, but as Tori later tells him, “good luck with that.” And indeed, when Charlie catches his mother in a good mood and asks, she isn’t very keen on allowing it. She asks him to wait until his exams are over, but Charlie gets aggravated.

He thinks that because he is mentally ill, she doesn’t think he is ready. If Mr. Ajayi nominated him to be head boy next year, why can’t his mother trust that he is strong enough for this? They have an argument and fed up with everyone walking on eggshells around him, Charlie leaves and goes to Nick’s.

There he explains what happened and expresses his frustration with others perceiving him as fragile. But to Nick, Charlie is everything but. Nick tells him he feels more fragile than his boyfriend, who knows who he is and what he wants while Nick is just freaking out about uni and his future, and being lost without Charlie. Then, as Charlie reminds him he is allowed to be a mess sometimes, the two boys start making out. 

And guess what? Now they are alone! Now is the time to stop talking! So they get busy with it, and consent is at the cornerstone of what happens next. It’s all very loving, and it’s all about making sure the other is comfortable. Just like anyone’s first time should be.

Tracy Beaker may make a surprise return in the spin off series The Dumping Ground.

The BBC has announced that The Dumping Ground will be back for a 13th series. And the makers have dropped a big hint that Dani Harmer will make a guest return as Tracy Beaker, the character she first played in 2002.

The BBC teased: "New for season 13, there will be four new young characters and even a very familiar face…".

Following the success of The Story of Tracy Beaker, Dani appeared in The Dumping Ground and various spin-offs, most recently My Mum Tracy Beaker and The Beaker Girls.

Outside of Tracy Beaker, Dani is perhaps best known for coming fourth in Strictly Come Dancing in 2012.

The new series of The Dumping Ground will be 10 parts long and was one of a number of new commissions the BBC has revealed.

Based on the award-winning films Zog and Zog and the Flying Doctors and the books by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, Zog is a new series that will see fresh adventures for Sir Gadabout and Princess Pearl. The series is for four to six-year-olds and aims to show them about "caring for others, yourself and the amazing world around you".

There will also be Get Arty, a "funny 'How To' art series hosted by a charismatic, relatable, enthusiastic family and a hilariously deadpan animated paint brush called Bristles".

Plus The Football Fantastics, set in Yorkshire and billed as "an energetic and joyful live-action preschool comedy about six irrepressible children brought together by their weekend football activity group". Supertato, about the world's strongest and bravest potato, is also getting a third series. Plus Andy and the Band — Rock Star School will return for a fourth series.

The Famous Five season 2 will see Julian, Dick, George, Anne and Timmy the Dog go on two new 90-minute adventures.

The first series was a huge hit, so it's no surprise that it's returning and among the stars coming back is James Lance as grumpy Uncle Quentin.

"I am delighted to be back playing Uncle Quentin in The Famous Five. This series is a gem. It is a privilege to be working with our wonderful cast with the sweetest co-star, dear Kip who plays Timmy the dog as we follow him on these magical adventures."

In a nice touch, the new series will feature Jemima Rooper (Geek Girl), who played George in a 1990s version on ITV.

Jemima tells us about returning: "It's amazing — and bizarre! I look at these delightful young people and I keep saying, 'we were not like that, we were awful!'. It's interesting to see young people today and then think back on what we were like, but doing the series was one of the happiest times of my life, and I have so much affection for that period of time — everything I learnt, and all the people I worked with. I had been a fan of the books growing up, and I had a genuine connection to the character of George."

The Famous Five season 2 release date

The Famous Five season 2 sees the first adventure air on CBBC on Monday, December 23 at 5.25 pm. It will also be made available on BBC iPlayer on that date. BBC One is screening the episode on New Year's Eve at 10.20 am, so it's part of the BBC's 2024 Christmas TV schedule. Check out our Christmas TV guide 2024 for more shows. We don't know yet when the second film will air.

The Famous Five season 2 cast

Diaana Babnicova returns as George, alongside Elliott Rose as Julian, Kit Rakusen as Dick and Flora Jacoby Richardson as Anne. Making up the fifth member of The Famous Five and the gang's faithful furry friend, is Kip, the Bearded Collie Cross playing Timmy the dog. 

Ann Akinjirin returns as Fanny alongside James Lance as Quentin. Also back is Jack Gleeson as Wentworth. New cast includes Spanish actress Maria Pedraza (Money Heist, Elite), Amir Wilson (His Dark Materials), James Wilby (Poldark), Rita Tushingham (A Taste of Honey), Jonathan Aris (Sherlock) and Jamie Andrew Cutler (The Hurricane Heist). 

Meanwhile, Rooper plays the role of Angela Clutterbuck, a guest staying at a mysterious hotel.

What's the plot?

The titles of the two new adventures are "Mystery at the Prospect Hotel" and "Big Trouble on Billycock Hill". Famous Five readers will know that Billycock Hill is featured in the title of the sixteenth of Enid Blyton's stories, "Five Go to Billycock Hill", so it's possible the plot will have similarities to that story which involved caves and spies.

Teasing Mystery at the Prospect Hotel, which is the first episode being shown, the BBC says: "It's summer 1940 and the Five are reunited at a grand hotel on Cragstone Ridge. An old foe, Thomas Wentworth, awaits them as he needs their help.

"Wentworth has seen into the future and foretells the murder of famous jazz singer Cab Vee, who is visiting the hotel. With a host of likely suspects, each with their own motive, can the Five figure out who is trying to kill him?"

The Famous Five is a Moonage Pictures and byNWR production for the BBC in the UK, in co-production with The Mediapro Studio.

"Mystery at the Prospect Hotel" is directed by Asim Abbasi. Executive Producers are Nicolas Winding Refn, Matthew Read, Will Gould, Frith Tiplady, Asim Abbasi and Laura Fdez.

Jemima Rooper, who played George as a child star in the 1990s version of The Famous Five on ITV, has been cast in the BBC's new version.

The 42-year-old Geek Girl star, who was George in two series of The Famous Five between 1995 and 1997, will play the role of Angela Clutterbuck, a guest staying at a mysterious hotel in the upcoming second series.

Talking about playing George, she once said: "I grew up reading 'The Famous Five' and as a younger kid had tried to be like George (without cutting my hair, though it was in the typical child bowl cut so many parents favor!) Reading Blyton was a massive part of my childhood reading so when the audition came up I was obsessed with succeeding".

Now she will join the new George, played by Diaana Babnicova, in one of the two new adventures announced by the BBC.

Every week I look at what's new on Netflix to create a curated list, and this time around I've collected the best shows and movies hitting the streaming service between Saturday, September 7 and Friday, September 13.

This globe-trotting week brings us shows and movies from Europe, America, Asia and... Europe and America again, they double-dip with the new Netflix Originals. There are comedies, dramas, documentaries and a reality show too, so whatever you're into, we've got it covered.

I've picked shows and movies that the streamer has been promoting heavily, so that you know its biggest releases, as well as ones that promise to become highly talked-about judging by past hits.

Jack Whitehall: Fatherhood With my Father

• Comedy travel show arrives on Tuesday, September 10

Netflix starts the week with a spin-off of its comedy travel show Travels with My Father with this, Fatherhood With My Father, both of which are led by the British Jack Whitehall.

Fatherhood With My Father reunites Whitehall with his father Michael, but this journey focuses less on them going on geographical adventures, rather than the comedian's emotional journey becoming a father. He'll learn how to adjust to this new part of his life with guidance from his father, who teaches him in some strange ways.

The four episodes of Jack Whitehall: Fatherhood With My Father will all air on Netflix at the same time, on Tuesday, September 10.

Boxer

• Polish sports drama movie arrives on Wednesday, September 11

Hailing from Poland, the new Netflix movie takes us back in time to when the country was under Communist rule.

Boxer is about the son of a boxer who takes up his father's mantle (and gloves). However to become a great fighter he leaves Poland and the complications of being an immigrant make his road to boxing stardom even harder. However that changes when he's given the chance to fix a fight.

Clocking in at two and a half hours, Boxer is a pretty long movie.

The Circle USA season 7

• Digital reality show returns on Wednesday, September 11

A divisive reality show returns to Netflix this week: The Circle USA rolls back around for its seventh season.

In The Circle, twelve strangers are put into neighboring apartments and they can only communicate via a social media app created specifically for the show. They get to create new personalities and try and win approval from the other contestants, but a lack of 'likes' (or any number of random twists) could cut their journey short.

Unlike most Netflix shows, The Circle has a staggered release. Four episodes will release on Wednesday, September 11 with four more the next week, four more the week after that and one final one on Wednesday, October 2.

Billionaire Island

• Norwegian dramedy series debuts on Thursday, September 12

Our round-the-world tour next takes us to Norway, and specifically to the island of Frøya, which is known for its fishing industry.

In Billionaire Island, two fishing companies go to war as one attempts a hostile takeover of the other, with the winner setting themselves up as the biggest salmon producer in the world. It comes to the creators of an older Netflix show, Lilyhammer.

There are six episodes of Billionaire Island and they'll all be available to watch on Netflix on Thursday, September 12.

Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter

• True crime documentary releases on Thursday, September 12

A true crime documentary from Netflix details a missing person and the quest to find them. Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter follows a woman named Cathy, who gave up a daughter in 1975. Fast forward to 2010, she receives a letter from the daughter's social worker saying that the girl had disappeared in 1989, and hadn't been seen since.

In the movie we watch as Cathy tries to work out the fate of her daughter, a quest which took her over a decade as well as the help of a private investigator and authorities.

Into the Fire is a two-parter, with both episodes releasing at the same time on Thursday, September 12.

Officer Black Belt

• Korean martial arts action movie lands on Friday, September 13

Our last stop of this round-the-world tour takes us to South Korea, with this martial arts action movie.

Officer Black Belt is about a young man named Lee Jung-do, who joins the police in order to become a martial arts officer. Using his expertise in martial arts he takes down criminals around his city.

This is a short movie, clocking in at just over 90 minutes, so it's a nice bite-sized piece of martial arts action.

Horrible Science, from the makers of the hugely popular series Horrible Histories, is heading to CBBC and BBC iPlayer, it's been announced.

Just like Horrible Histories, the Beeb promises the science show will be "packed full of much-loved sketches, bringing people together to enjoy fun facts, silly songs and jokes".

The series will feature Sir Isaac Newton on a rollercoaster explaining forces, the Moon complaining that nobody has been to visit him in a while and a T Rex going to the doctors.

The new series is inspired by the bestselling and award-winning "Horrible Science" book series written by Nick Arnold and illustrated by Tony De Saulles.

Nick Arnold, the author of "Horrible Science", says: "It's amazing to think that nearly 30 years since 'Horrible Science' revolutionized children's science books — it's crawling off the page and onto the screen for a new TV series. Since I began writing 'Horrible Science', I have been thrilled to hear from young and old that my yucky books sparked an enduring interest in science. I can't wait to see the new TV comedy series bring Science alive for the new generation."

Tony De Saulles, the illustrator of "Horrible Science", adds: "It has been an honor and a delight to be illustrator for the 'Horrible Science 'series since our first title in 1996. How exciting to think that parents who enjoyed our books when they were young will soon be able to watch Horrible Science on CBBC with their own children."

Horrible Histories debuted back in 2009 and has been arguably the biggest children's show of the last 15 years. Its original cast included Jim Howick, Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Laurence Rickard, Martha Howe-Douglas and Ben Willbond who went on to create the hugely popular series Ghosts. Over the years it’s attracted a host of famous guest stars including Rowan Atkinson and Stephen Fry. 

Horrible Science, in a first for the BBC, will be linked to the National Curriculum, with some episodes themed around key primary science topics.

Patricia Hidalgo, Director of BBC Children's and Education, says: "We know children and adults love learning about the past with Horrible Histories and we want to bring that magic formula of comedic excellence and educational value to Horrible Science. Now that Will Spencer has returned home, he’s finding that a lot has changed since the last time he was there. Is a battle between the Spencer kids about to break out on The Bold and the Beautiful. 

The last time Will Spencer (Crew Morrow) was home, he was the third of three Spencer kids following Liam (Scott Clifton) and Will (Darin Brooks). But now he’s home and he has a new sibling, Luna (Lisa Yamada), and she and her mother have made themselves at home in the Spencer Estate. Suddenly he’s like a stranger in his own home, and he doesn’t like it. 

He’s even more upset about what’s happening with Katie (Heather Tom). Will doesn’t like that Bill (Don Diamont) has moved on with someone else after all these years, especially given how his father treated her in the past. Will is protective of his mother and he’s determined to see that she’s not pushed aside in all of this. He shares his mother’s concerns about Poppy (Romy Park), questioning why she waited so long to tell Bill about his daughter. 

At the moment, neither Will nor Katie have any ill will toward Luna, who is by all accounts stuck in the middle of this situation. She’s thrilled to finally know her father’s identity and equally excited about having brothers. For the moment we’ll ignore Luna’s discovery at her old apartment; she found Tom’s letters to Poppy claiming to be Luna’s father and that will no doubt cause some strife between mother and daughter. 

Will’s open hostility towards Poppy is what could lead to a battle between the siblings, and it could get ugly quickly. Will is going to do everything to protect Katie while Luna will defend her mother — even when she’s frustrated that her mother has been keeping secrets from her. 

That leaves Bill in a very awkward position. He loves his son and he loves his daughter. He’s presently in love with Poppy but he has a lot of love for Katie. He’s the only one who can sort this situation out, and it’s not going to be easy.

Six weeks is a long time to keep your kids entertained while they are on the school summer holidays. But fear not, because Netflix has come up trumps with a great family movie that has just been added to the streaming service. 

We recently reported that Lyle Lyle, Crocodile has been added to Netflix, and with its 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and its critical rating a respectable 71%, it is easy to see why the movie has taken the number one slot on Netflix Kids and number two movie spot (just behind Wicked Little Letters) on the main Netflix profile. 

I have two young boys and getting them to sit through a whole movie is no mean feat. Not only do there have to be great snacks, but we also need a good movie. If it doesn't capture their attention in the first half an hour then it's game over... but Lyle Lyle Crocodile hasn't just kept them entertained once this summer already - they have gone back for more and watched the movie, which runs at one hour and 46 minutes, twice. Now that's a winner in my book! 

The story follows the Primm family as they move to New York City and their son, Josh, struggles to adapt to his new school and make friends. However, that all changes when he finds Lyle, a singing saltwater crocodile living in the attic of his new home. 

The two quickly become firm friends and even Josh's parents are soon won over by the friendly reptile, however, their new and much happier dynamic is soon under threat when their evil neighbor Mr. Grumps tries to work out what they are hiding in their house. 

Soon the Primms must work together with Lyle's charismatic and bonkers owner, Hector P. Valenti, to show the world that Lyle isn't a danger and that he really is one of the family. 

Shawn Mendes leads the cast as Lyle, while Skyfall's Javier Bardem plays Lyle's owner, Hector. The Primm family is made up of Constance Wu (Crazy Rich Asians) and Scoot McNairy (Killing Them Softly) as parents Katie and Joseph with Winslow Fegley (Nightbooks) as their son, Josh. 

But the movie isn't only funny and heart-warming, it also has an amazing soundtrack. Not only did my kids love watching the film, but we also had the songs on in the car during a long journey recently and they were a big hit. 

This movie is definitely the gift that keeps on giving this summer!

If you're stressing how to keep the kids entertained over the neverending summer holidays, then Netflix has just helped a little by adding a great family movie.

Lyle Lyle Crocodile, a musical movie exploring the unconventional friendship between a schoolboy and his singing crocodile friend, has just dropped on Netflix UK (it's also available on Netflix in the US, although it leaves on August 3 in the US so be quick).

The family-friendly 2022 film, which runs for a snappy one hour and 46 minutes, has a 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, while its critical rating is a respectable 71%.

Based on the children's story of the same name, the cast is led by Shawn Mendes as Lyle, while Skyfall's Javier Bardem, plays Hector P. Valenti, Lyle's charismatic owner.

Teasing the plot, the makers say: "When the Primm family moves to New York City, their young son, Josh, struggles to adapt to his new surroundings. All of that changes when he discovers Lyle, a singing saltwater crocodile living in the attic of his new home.

Netflix is a good place to go for family movies as you try to entertain the children over the incredibly long summer holidays. Other highlights include the whole Harry Potter movie collection, Matilda, both Paddington films and Minions: The Rise of Gru. If you want to get more adventurous and go to the cinema, Despicable Me 4 and Inside Out 2 are currently out. We gave Inside Out 2 a very good review, saying: "Pixar delivers fun, adventure and touching psychological insights with this clever sequel to the animation studio's brilliant 2015 film."

Harold and the Purple Crayon is a family comedy starring Zachary Levi. It's a big summer for family blockbusters, what with Inside Out 2 and Despicable Me 4 already out, and Harold and the Purple Crayon promises to be an adventure everyone can enjoy.

The movie is based on the 1955 children’s book "Harold and the Purple Crayon" by Crockett Johnson. Talking about the movie to Vrai magazine, Zachary Levi said: "I really fell in love with the script when I first read it. It is a really fun adventure about an alien from another world navigating through the real world and figuring that out. And this alien is very innocent and naive, intelligent, but only intelligent in his world."

He adds: "Really the power of the crayon is imagination and that's a really cool lesson for children particularly but also for adults to get out of this. There's nothing magical outside of who you are and what you're doing regardless of the tool or utensil, you create that magic."

In Vikings: Valhalla season 3 episode 5, a man obscured by mist walks on a rocky piece of shore. It's Erik the Red (Goran Visnjic) trying to find food. He cuts the rotting tongue out of a dead walrus on the beach and walks back to a settlement nearby.  

A small boat pulls into the harbor. Erik confronts the villager at the helm. A fishing party had gone out in search of food, but the longboat was lost. All that was left was the small boat, a couple of people and a few fish they caught. The settlement is facing famine.

Later that evening in the longhouse the people share the fish, while Erik and Hilde (Carrie Crowley) eat the tongue and talk about what to do. Hilde tells Erik some of the people are talking about leaving when the traders come. Erik is convinced the gods will save them. His plan is to attack the traders when they arrive and steal their goods.

The land with the golden trees

But the boats that arrive the next day don't belong to the traders. It's Freydis (Frida Gustavsson) and the Jomsvikings. Erik welcomes them, and their supplies. He, Hilde and Freydis have a joyous reunion. Erik and Hilde meet their grandson Harald for the first time.

Freydis tells Hilde and Erik about the fight of London Bridge, the battle at Kattegat, and Leif and Harald leaving for Constantinople. She also tells Erik they will not be staying. Greenland is just a stop in their search for the land with the golden trees.

In Greece, Leif (Sam Corlett) finally finds Calinicus (Najib Oudghiri), the mapmaker. When he approaches, Calinicus first denies the map is his because he is playing dice with a Greek Orthodox priest. But he offers Leif a meal with his family.

Leif is surprised to find the meal is a fish native to Greenland. Calinicus tells Leif of his theory that the currents in the ocean bring Northern fish to Greece, and the currents connect lands on the opposite sides of the world. 

Calinicus shows Leif a map of the known world, including currents in all the oceans. It shows a round world, which the church would find heretical. The mapmaker fits the map fragment Leif has into the large map of the world. It depicts the southern coast of Greenland and a fragment of the land with the golden trees that Leif is searching for. Calinicus thinks the landmass that is the golden land is what causes the currents to shift around Greenland.

King Canute's secret 

In London, when Canute (Bradley Freegard) takes his throne his hand is shaking. He continues to have tremors, which Emma (Laura Berlin) skillfully covers by taking his hand. When one of his lords gives him a proposed charter to read, Canute doesn't reach for it because of the tremors. Emma takes it instead. 

That night in their private chamber they talk about Canute's illness. He is worried about his empire, but Emma reassures him he can still be a strong ruler. Still, Canute knows he needs to get his succession settled and time is running out. He tells Emma to gather all of his sons in Kattegat so he can choose his successor. 

Succession is on everyone's minds it seems. In Denmark, Forkbeard (Soren Pilmark) tells Godwin (David Oakes) that he has been told Canute is not well. Forkbeard intends to try and take the throne and he wants Godwin to help him. Godwin agrees, right in front of Harefoot (Pyry Kahkonen). 

Should I stay or should I go?

In Constantinople, Harald (Leo Suter) walks into an empty throne room and stares at the throne. Maniakes (Florian Munteanu) follows him into the throne room and asks if Harald wants to be emperor. Harald tells Maniakes his desire lies elsewhere, in Norway. Maniakes says that's good, because emperors can have very short reigns. He indicates Harald should go sooner rather than later.

In Greenland there is a big feast, where the people from Jomsborg share their food and supplies. Erik tries to convince Freydis to stay and start her own community and let her people settle on Greenland. Freydis declines, saying she needs to find the land of the golden trees.

The next day Erik shows Freydis where her people could set up their own community and start farms. Erik tries again to convince Freydis to stay. He tells Freydis he tried over and over to find the land of the golden trees, but he never found it. The more he pushes Freydis to stay, the more determined she is to go.

Kings and emperors

In Denmark, Harefoot isn't going to let Forkbeard take the throne of England. He smothers Forkbeard in his sleep, with Godwin's help. 

In Constantinople, Harald receives an invitation to a masked ball. He goes to the party, where everyone is wearing masks and engaging in debauchery of various kinds. He sees a woman who looks like Zoe (Sofia Lebedeva). She beckons him, and he follows her through a maze of rooms and hallways. 

She leads him into a chamber where the emperor is being intimate with a handful of women. The emperor tells Harald he knows about his affair with Zoe. The emperor and Zoe planned it because the emperor can't have children, but Zoe must have a child to rule after him. They wanted her to have Harald's child. 

As the emperor is talking, the woman Harald thought was Zoe takes off her mask. She's not Zoe. She pulls out a small knife and cuts the emperor's throat. As Romanos bleeds out Harald tries to save him, getting blood all over himself. Maniakes bursts in and tells the guards to seize Harald for murdering the emperor.

Vanished into the Night is a Netflix original Italian thriller (dubbed in multiple languages). It follows a couple, Pietro and Elena, who are facing a difficult divorce. If discussions over custody and assets weren't tense enough though, when Pietro is looking after his two children while Elena is away on a trip, they are kidnapped. And so, unravels a twisted crime-drama full of secrets, a dangerous mission, and the commitment of a father to risk everything to get his kids back. 

So, do Pietro and Elena find their children? And, who took them in the first place? Read on to find out exactly what happens at the end of Vanished into the Night on Netflix.

It’s clear from the outset that Pietro and Elena are struggling to come to an agreement about the dissolution of their marriage. Their kids, Giovanni and Bianca, are just part of it. For Elena, it’s the loss of her psychotherapy career that she wants to return to in the US. Also, we learn that Pietro has a gambling addiction, while Elena has an addiction to painkillers due to a serious car accident. Elena is also concerned about the money she lent Pietro to buy a farmhouse they were going to develop into a hotel.

The pair now seemingly live separate lives - Pietro in the farmhouse and Elena in an apartment. As Elena is going away on a trip, Pietro takes them on a fishing trip where they bump into ‘uncle’ Nicola and he wants him to come aboard his boat, but Pietro says he’s busy, letting his kids go on for a short time.

When he returns home, a man is waiting. His name is Santo and he’s demanding 250,000 euros that Pietro owes him. It’s not clear how Pietro got into this debt, but knowing about his gambling addiction, this could suggest the reason. Santo wants the farmhouse in exchange for the debt, but Pietro asks for more time.

Pietro puts his kids to sleep for the night and watches football on the TV. When he goes to check on the kids, they’re no longer in their beds. Elena calls to say she’s arrived at her destination, to which Pietro informs her the kids are gone. She comes to Pietro that same night, despite saying she’d need to catch the first plane back from wherever she went.

Pietro receives a phone call demanding 150,000 euros for the safe return of his children. He calls Santo and leaves a message accusing him of taking them. Elena suggests going to Nicola for the money, and Pietro agrees. 

When he visits Nicola the next day, Nicola is angry at how Pietro is treating him and says they used to be like brothers, but that he is ashamed of the work he is involved in. Pietro asks for the money and Nicola gives him a job to do. He tells him he must drive his boat to Greece, sit at a small restaurant, and wait for instructions. He will take a load of goods onto his boat and drive it back in exchange for the money.

That evening, he takes his boat to the Poseidon restaurant. Elena leaves him at the dock, but not before apologising for the way their marriage has gone and the couple share a passionate kiss. Pietro leaves and travels to the restaurant where he waits hours for instructions, of which none come. He borrows the phone of a restaurant guest to call Elena at 11:30PM, but she doesn’t pick up. Finally, when he asks for the bill, he is handed the cheque that says, “Torna a casa ora” translated to “Go home now.” He rushes back to his boat where two men appear to hand over a duffel bag of drugs and wait for their payment. When they’re happy, they let Pietro go.

In true thriller fashion, it's not that simple. While he’s driving his boat back to Italy, the engine fails. Pietro cuts his arm badly trying to fix it and, in desperation, calls the coast guard to come and help him. He conceals the drugs and is told that it will take some time to get back, but he's on a strict timeframe.

With the tension rising, Pietro makes a run for it with the drugs once they get back on land. He borrows another phone, now at 6:12AM, to call Elena who still doesn’t pick up. You see that her phone is in the same position it was seven hours prior and wonder where she might be. When he shows up at Nicola’s, he’s having a party and the pair get into a fist fight, but Pietro finally gets the 150,000 cash and heads to Elena.

Do Pietro and Elena get their children back?

Racing against time, Pietro arrives at Elena’s apartment and the door is open. When he enters, Bianca and Giovanni are eating breakfast at the table, unharmed. He speaks to them about the kidnapping, but they tell him they don’t know what he’s talking about. Elena comes and says there wasn’t a kidnapping, asks Pietro if he’s on drugs, tells him he’s crazy, and that he must leave her house. He’s left wondering what’s going on.

He drives off and receives a voice recording from Elena of him telling her that he went to get the drugs to pay the ransom for the kids. She had been recording him, but says she did it to protect her kids. She says she’s taking the kids to New York that night and that he must meet her at the airport to sign the letters of consent. 

He hurries back to her apartment, but they’re gone. He goes to his kids horse riding lesson, where they both are. He begins to ask them about the disappearance, but they still don’t remember. Elena turns up and she says she’ll send the recording to the judge. 

Who kidnapped Bianca and Giovanni?

Pietro returns to the farmhouse and while he’s in the bathroom, he notices an empty pill packet in the toilet, unflushed. He picks it out and rushes to Elena’s apartment to search through her belongings when he finds Oxycodone, a strong painkiller, with one packet missing.

He rushes with the evidence to the airport and confronts Elena saying she drugged their kids and that he’ll report her to the police. He says that Oxycodone remains in the hair for some time and that he can prove her guilt and that she could’ve almost killed them both.

She admits she felt she had no way out and that she was forced to do it so they could finish their divorce, but that the kiss they shared was real. Pietro leaves with the kids. 

When he returns to the farmhouse, he calls Santo to say he has money for him. While the kids are playing, he looks at a photo on the fridge of the family, but he stops to turn around as if he senses someone is there. In a thrilling and mysterious moment, a blurred figure steps into view.

What does the Vanished into the Night ending mean?

It appears the blurred figure is wearing a long tan-brown coat and black trousers, which is what Elena was wearing at the airport. We know that Pietro holds damaging information on Elena, but we also know that Elena has a similar threat against him, so it’s a stalemate. 

Perhaps she decided she didn’t want to leave Italy after all and had returned, following their kiss, to rebuild their marriage. But, could he forgive her? Or, perhaps, she didn’t want to leave so easily and is still determined to destroy Pietro by revealing his criminal wrongdoing and leaving with the kids back to the US.

We don’t meet anybody else in Pietro’s life aside from Nicola and Santo, but the figure doesn’t appear to be male. What we do know is that the relationship between Pietro and Elena is clearly not straightforward, nor is it easily solved. The fact they kissed shows that there’s unfinished business, despite it looking like the airport was the end of their relationship. While their kids may have vanished into the night, it seems Elena won’t go so easily.

Vanished into the Night is now streaming exclusively on Netflix.

The Man with 1000 Kids may sound like a fun title for a show, but the Netflix documentary actually covers a very serious subject as it investigates fertility clinics and focuses on one sperm donor who is alleged to have fathered hundreds of children.

Netflix says it "uncovers the gripping tale of a charming Dutch scammer, Jonathan Meijer who is accused of traveling the world deceiving mothers into having his babies on a mass scale".

The Man with 1000 Kids release date

The Man with 1000 Kids is released on Netflix on Wednesday, July 3 at 8 am UK time. It is also released on Netflix in the US on the same date. What's the heart of the story? Who is Jonathan Meijer?

It looks into Jonathan Meijer but also the wider world of fertility clinics and asks if they protect the people using them enough. Jonathan Meijer is a Dutchman in his early 40s who is accused of being a serial sperm donor. In April 2023 a Dutch court ordered him to stop donating. While Dutch guidelines say a donor should not father more than 25 children, he is alleged to have fathered hundreds. And it's further alleged that Jonathan Meijer didn't just donate in Holland, he also donated in other countries.

In the Netflix documentary, the makers talk to a "group of passionate and aggrieved parents" who want to prevent Jonathan Meijer from donating again and to stop anything like this from happening again. 

Is Jonathan Meijer in the Netflix documentary?

No, Jonathan Meijer declined to take part in the documentary. He did though speak to Newsweek via email. He said: "Already the title is super misleading. Deceptive. No surprise to anybody, Netflix is like any other corporation, company, focused on making money." He claimed that the documentary focuses on a small group of parents and not the "wonderful parents that I have helped worldwide and are extremely grateful for my help". He denied misleading parents. 

Is there a trailer?

Yes, it opens with the line, "What if I were to tell you that there is a man alive today who may have fathered over a thousand children? What kind of man would do that?". We then see clips of parents who believe their dream of parenthood was tainted by what happened and how they want better protection in place for people using fertility clinics.

Jacqueline Wilson, the creator of the hugely popular Tracy Beaker stories, is seeing another of her classic books adapted by the BBC, Primrose Railway Children.

The book, which is a modern reimagining of E Nesbit's classic "The Railway Children", is heading to CBBC and iPlayer later this year in a 90-minute one-off.

Shot in and around Glasgow, the dramatic Scottish Highlands and heritage railways, the plot follows Phoebe, her older sister Becks, younger brother Perry and their mum who are living a comfortable life in Glasgow when suddenly they are uprooted from their lives and moved to the remote highlands of Scotland.

The BBC describes it as "a story about growing up, being displaced, and finding your way in a community that seems alien, Primrose Railway Children is set to become essential family viewing".

Jacqueline Wilson’s Tracy Beaker books have led to multiple BBC series including The Story of Tracy Beaker, Tracy Beaker Returns, The Dumping Ground and My Mum Tracy Beaker.

Meanwhile, the BBC also revealed it was shooting two more series of Enid Blyton's Malory Towers to be shown next year. Seasons 6 and 7 are being filmed in stunning locations around Devon and Cornwall in South West England. It will be the last glorious year at Malory Towers for Darrell Rivers and her sixth-form friends. Jo Sargent, Executive Producer at King Bert Productions said: "We're excited to be back on location for Season 6 and 7 of Malory Towers. As well as welcoming back old friends and getting to know new characters we’ll be saying goodbye to our original girls at the end of the series as they leave Malory Towers for the world of work or university."

In a third announcement, the BBC revealed it's making High Hoops, a comedy starring Peep Show’s Robert Webb and comedian Isy Suttie, which will be screened later this year.

Filmed in Halifax, West Yorkshire, it tells the story of a failing school basketball team and the arrival of tall, gaffe-prone but unstoppable Aoife O'Neill (Darci Hull). The BBC teases: "Aoife soon discovers that the only place she really fits in is the school basketball team — only they’re terrible. Can she turn them around?"
