Scrolling for something new to watch on Hulu this week, August 9-15? Let me give you a hand with my picks for the best movies, TV shows and more arriving on the streaming service.

The big arrival this week is a new series based on one of the most popular sci-fi franchises of all time. But there are some other great options to stream this week, including a special live event and a major action franchise.

The Lost City (2022)

• Enjoy this adventure comedy on Hulu starting August 10

Who doesn't love Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum? They both are at their charming best in The Lost City, an action/adventure comedy that is a solid, easy watch from the last few years.

In the movie, Bullock plays an author who is kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire (played by Daniel Radcliffe) who believes her most recent book reveals clues to a real ancient lost city. It falls to her cover model (Tatum) to try and rescue her.

Copshop (2021)

• Under-the-radar crime thriller with a fun Gerard Butler performance is streaming as of August 11

There's a large fan base for Gerard Butler's crime movies Den of Thieves and Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, but in my opinion, Copshop is just as fun and is a far superior movie than the Den of Thieves franchise, and we still get Butler showing his rougher side.

In Copshop, a con artist (Frank Grillo) attempts to hide from a lethal assassin (Butler) by getting himself arrested. However, the assassin follows him into the station, with only a rookie cop (Alexis Louder) on duty to handle the situation.

Copshop is "Certified Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes.

Alien: Earth

• The first two episodes of the sci-fi TV series premiere on Hulu on August 12

The Xenomorphs have been terrorizing space for almost 50 years, but they are about to terrorize Earth in the FX/Hulu original series Alien: Earth from Fargo creator Noah Hawley.

With a cast of relatively lesser-known actors, save for Timothy Olyphant, Alien: Earth is one of the more interesting summer TV shows we're getting this year and is worth giving a try.

John Wick movies

• The entire John Wick franchise starts streaming on Hulu on August 15

Not one, not two, not three, but all four John Wick movies arrive on Hulu this week.

The mega-action franchise, starring Keanu Reeves as the world's most dangerous assassin out for revenge against those who have wronged him, has spawned beyond the confines of these four movies (most recently with the spinoff movie Ballerina), and we're even getting a John Wick 5 it seems. But these four movies (John Wick, John Wick: Chapter 2, John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum, John Wick: Chapter 4) remain the gold standard.

Stand Up to Cancer

• A special live stream of the Stand Up to Cancer fundraising event takes place on August 15

Stand Up to Cancer raises money for cancer research, and one of their biggest events is the Stand Up to Cancer event, taking place for the ninth time on August 15.

Hulu will have a special live stream of the event that begins at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT, with host Sheryl Crow and appearances and performances from celebrities, including Dolly Parton.

Usually, a Broadway ticket is pretty expensive, but on Saturday, June 7, Broadway is coming to you as CNN is airing a live performance of George Clooney’s Tony-nominated play Good Night, and Good Luck, at 7 pm ET.

And we're not talking a taped, edited performance like Hamilton on Disney Plus, this is a broadcast of the show as it is taking place from the Winter Garden Theatre in New York. According to CNN, this is the first time that a live Broadway show has ever been broadcasted on TV.

Clooney stars in Good Night, and Good Luck as legendary journalist Edward R. Murrow, as the show depicts Murrow’s iconic showdown with Sen. Joseph McCarthy in the 1950s as the government official played up the paranoia of the Cold War to dangerous levels. Murrow and his news team took a stand in their nightly broadcasts, even if it meant turning the federal government against them.

CNN will have live pre-show coverage starting at 6:30 pm ET, as well as a post-performance special with Anderson Cooper about the production and the current state of global journalism. But the main event starts at 7 pm ET and will air on CNN and CNN International, as well as streaming live on CNN.com and CNN apps with no requirement for a cable login (translation, free). If you’re a Max subscriber, the play will stream live there as well for all subscription plans.

Those in the UK can also watch the live broadcast, which will air on Pluto TV there are midnight UK time.

Considering a ticket for Good Night, and Good Luck on Broadway has been priced anywhere from $300 to $825, this is one heck of a deal to see one of the most talked about shows of the 2025 Broadway season and a five-time Tony nominee.

One of those nominations is for Clooney’s performance, which is actually his first role on Broadway. Clooney is joined on stage with a cast that includes Ilana Glazer, Glenn Fleshler, Clark Gregg, Carter Hudson, Paul Gross, Christopher Denham, Fran Kranz, Will Dagger, Georgia Heers, Jennifer Morris, Michael Nathanson, Andrew Polk, Aaron Roman Weiner, R. Ward Duffy, Joe Forbrich, Imani Rousselle, Greg Stuhr, JD Taylor and Sophia Tzougros. Clooney also wrote the play with Grant Heslov; it is directed by David Cromer.

If you’re wondering, didn't Clooney do something like this before? Yes, he co-wrote (again with Heslov) and directed the 2005 movie Good Night, and Good Luck, for which the play is based on. In the movie it was David Strathairn who played Murrow, while Clooney played the role of Murrow’s producer Fred W. Friendly. The movie was nominated for six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director for Clooney and Best Actor for Murrow. The movie is currently available to rent via digital on-demand.

This is just one part of a big weekend for the production of Good Night, and Good Luck. The June 7 performance is set to be the penultimate one for the show before it closes. Then on Sunday, June 8, the Tony Awards are taking place, where Clooney and company will find out if any of their five nominations turn into wins.

Again, tune in for the live broadcast of Good Night, and Good Luck from the Winter Garden Theatre in New York at 7 pm ET.

Los Angeles and other parts of Southern California have been devastated by a series of wildfires that raged during January, causing incredible damage to communities. As the area looks to rebound and rebuild, The FireAid benefit concert has been organized to support those efforts, enlisting many of the biggest names in music to perform in this special event taking place Thursday, January 30.

The live concert is taking place at two locations in Los Angeles: the Intuit Dome and the KIA Forum. Among the performers lined up for the concert are Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Rod Stewart, Earth, Wind & Fire, Lil Baby, Stevie Wonder, Gracie Abrams, Olivia Rodrigo, Sting, Jelly Roll, Peso Pluma, Tate McRae, Katy Perry, Alanis Morissette, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Anderson .Paak, John Fogerty, Stephen Stills, Dave Matthews Band & John Mayer, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, Dawes, No Doubt, The Black Crowes, Graham Nash and P!nk.

But you don’t have to be in Los Angeles to experience this concert, as The FireAid benefit concert is going to be available to stream across a multitude of platforms, including many free ones.

Fans around the world can watch (or listen) the concert live starting at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT, starting with the performances from the KIA Forum, the continuing at 10:30 pm ET/7:30 pm PT with the lineup at the Intuit Dome. We all know the joy of a long weekend, but Stephen Colbert is opting for a short one as his The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is airing a special live episode on Sunday, January 26, at 11:35 pm ET/8:35 pm PT on CBS. This is all part of a special day of programming for the network around the NFL’s AFC Championship game.

The NFL playoff game between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs, taking place at 6:30 pm ET/3:30 pm PT on January 26 on CBS, is expected to be one of the most watched TV events of the year, and CBS is hoping to keep viewers tuned to their channel with a series of special programs following the game. Immediately following the football coverage, CBS is airing the premiere episode of its anticipated new medical drama Watson, which stars Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson (of Sherlock Holmes & Watson) branching out on his own.

After a break for local news in most areas, the live episode of The Late Show will then take place. For this special episode, in addition to his usual humorous commentary on current events, Colbert is welcoming the University of Colorado head coach, NFL Hall of Famer and two-time Super Bowl champion Deion Sanders as a guest. Country star Kane Brown is also set to give a performance during the show.

With the live show airing on Sunday, viewers are going to have five straight nights of The Late Show, as the talk show is planning to air new episodes from Monday, January 27, through Thursday, January 30, as it does during a usual week.

One thing to note with all of this special programming on CBS on January 26, there is not going to be any episode of 60 Minutes this week. The news program is being preempted by the football game and then CBS’s subsequent special programming is going to take up any time that 60 Minutes might have otherwise been squeezed into.

To watch The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s live episode on January 26, you must have access to your local CBS station. That can come via a traditional pay-TV provider, a TV antenna, a live TV streaming service (i.e. Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, YouTube TV) or Paramount Plus with Showtime, which lets you access a live simulcast of your local CBS station. If you don’t have any of these services or you just miss the live show when it’s on, you can stream The Late Show on-demand with any Paramount Plus subscription.

There is an air of excitement about the total solar eclipse occurring on Monday, April 8, which will put around 32 million people in its path over the US, Canada and Mexico. It's a phenomenon we won't see again for another 20 years (2044 is when experts are predicting anything close to this). So to mark this special occasion, ABC has announced it is going to air a live special surrounding the total solar eclipse.

Dubbed Eclipse Across America, this two-hour special is a collaboration between ABC News and National Geographic to cover the moments when the afternoon sky goes dark (even bringing the stars into view in certain areas) and the silver ring of the sun's corona will surround the moon that'll look entirely black. If you aren't in the path of the total solar eclipse, then this special is going to be a way to experience the full effect of the rare event.

Eclipse Across America airs live at 2 pm ET/11 am PT on Monday, April 8, on ABC, ABC News Live, National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo Wild, Disney Plus and Hulu.

One interesting bit of note, hundreds of couples are expected to take part in a mass wedding — in an event they’re calling "Total Eclipse of the Heart" — when the eclipse is over Russellville, Ark.

Netflix is ramping up its sports offerings, with the streamer hosting its first-ever live sporting event, The Netflix Cup. The big event is taking place on Tuesday, November 14, but at what time is The Netflix Cup getting underway?

Pairing up professional PGA Tour golfers and Formula 1 drivers for a nine-hole match at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas, sports fans/Netflix subscribers can watch The Netflix Cup starting at 6 pm ET/3 pm PT (11 pm UK) on November 14. The event should be easy to find on the Netflix home page once it is live, but you can also find a direct link to the live stream from The Netflix Cup event page on Netflix Tudum.

Of course, if you want to watch The Netflix Cup, you are going to need to have a Netflix subscription.

Netflix has been building its sports library for a while now, mostly with docuseries that provide full access to events and individual athletes like Quarterback, Break Point, Tour de France: Unchained, Drive to Survive and Full Swing. It's the last two series that are teaming up for The Netflix Cup.

Four F1 drivers and four PGA pros are teaming up to compete in the event: Lando Norris & Rickie Fowler, Carlos Sainz & Justin Thomas, Alex Albon & Max Homa and Pierre Gasly & Collin Morikawa. 

The event starts with two matches — Norris/Fowler vs Sainz/Thomas and Albon/Homa vs Gasly/Morrikawa. Using a scramble format (where each player hits a shot and picks the best one to play until they put the ball in the hole), each initial match will last eight holes. The winning teams in those matches will then play the deciding ninth hole, with the winning team of that hole then declared the first-ever Netflix Cup champion.

In addition to the golf action, The Netflix Cup is going to feature commentary by sportscaster Kay Adams, PGA golfer and Full Swing breakout Joel Dahmen, comedian Brett Kreischer and former NFL player Marshawn Lynch.

If this sounds familiar, it’s because it should. The Netflix Cup is the streamer adding its own spin to the format of The Match, which has been a popular golfing event that has seen pro athletes (golfers and those from other sports) play for charity.

Again, a Netflix subscription is necessary to watch The Netflix Cup. So if you're looking to add one in order to watch, you have a number of options to choose from, including an ad-supported tier that starts as low as $6.99 per month or an ad-free premium tier that costs $22.99 per month.

March Madness is here and college basketball fans are ready to hunker down and watch as many games as possible to cheer on their teams, see how their brackets hold up and find out what Cinderella teams emerge from this year's field.

While March Madness airs on multiple TV networks and has a couple of online viewing options, one of the main ones is Paramount Plus. The streaming service, which helps differentiate itself from other services with its lineup of live sports, should be on your radar for ways to watch March Madness, but it is not a one-stop shop.

Paramount Plus is only streaming March Madness games that air on CBS; so if the game you want to watch is airing on TBS, TNT or TruTV, then you can't watch it on Paramount Plus. That mostly impacts the first few rounds of the tournament; CBS is the home for all of the Final Four and the national championship games.

The majority of both the first and second rounds of the NCAA Men's College Basketball Tournament aren't on CBS, and that means they're not available on Paramount Plus.

So how to watch them?

Sling TV is going to be your least expensive option. And more specifically, the Sling Blue plan. It includes TBS, TNT and truTV, all of which you'll need to watch all the other games. What you probably won't get, however, is your local CBS affiliate.

If you've got to have everything all in one bundle — CBS, TruTV, TNT and TBS — then you probably want to look at a service like Hulu With Live TV, which should be able to accommodate everything. It comes with full access to the Hulu on-demand library.

The Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour got underway back in September 2018. Across five continents and more than 350 dates, this five-year-long tour marks the superstar's retirement from touring after more than 50 years on the road.

This three-hour live stream comes from the closing show at Dodger Stadium (November 20) and offers viewers around the world the chance to tune in as Elton John returns to the stadium (along with some big-name supporting artists) that catapulted him into global stardom almost 50 years ago in 1975.

On November 14, Disney revealed that Grammy-winning artists Dua Lipa, Kiki Dee and Brandi Carlile would be joining Elton John on stage during his final American performance to help celebrate his extraordinary career. 

He collaborated with Dua Lipa in 2021 on the track "Cold Heart (PNAU REMIX)", which has been streamed more than one billion times worldwide on Spotify. 

Meanwhile, Kiki Dee and Elton John teamed up for the number-one single "Don't Go Breaking My Heart", Elton's third standalone single after "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" and "Philadelphia Freedom".

Brandi Carlile is a longtime fan of Elton's. She hosted the 30th annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party and released "Simple Things" in 2021, which was on Elton's "The Lockdown Sessions" album.

Glastonbury Festival made a huge comeback last week; if you want to relive some of the biggest moments now that the festival is over, you can still find plenty of Glastonbury highlights on BBC iPlayer.

After a few years away, some of the biggest artists from around the world headed back to Somerset in England for the five-day event. This year, we saw performances from Pyramid Stage headliners Billie Eilish, Paul McCartney and Kendrick Lamar as well as Foals, Megan Thee Stallion and Charlie XCX, Sam Fender, Glass Animals, Olivia Rodrigo, YUNGBLUD, Phoebe Bridgers and so many more. 

As usual, the father and daughter team behind Glastonbury (Michael and Emily Eavis) have put together an eclectic lineup that celebrates a huge variety of the best of current music and culture as well as digging into the history bucket for some classics. There are 10 main stages and a raft of other smaller stages covering everything from dance music, to circus acts, stand-up comedy and poetry.

This year the Sunday afternoon "Legend" spot was filled by the icon, Diana Ross. Past "Sunday Legends"  included Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Van Morrison, and, memorably, Neighbours' Kylie Minogue.

Glastonbury Festival took place between Wednesday, June 22 to Sunday, June 26.

How to watch Glastonbury 2022 online in the UK

Although Glastonbury Festival is now over for another year, you can still find plenty of full performances and highlights from the event available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

The BBC was the place to be for fans who wanted to check in with everything on offer at Glastonbury Festival this year without braving the great outdoors, as the broadcast had very ambitious plans for coverage spread across TV, radio, and their online streaming platforms, BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer. 

They broadcast everything from highlight reels, live sets, interviews and retrospectives across the entire BBC network pretty much from morning to night across the five days of the festival.

BBC iPlayer even had its own dedicated Glastonbury channel operating from Thursday, June 23 through to Sunday, June 26. This channel featured sets from the Pyramid, Other, West Holts, John Peel and Park Stages plus interviews and exclusive content that wasn't broadcast on TV. 

TV broadcasts began every day with a new live show previewing what was to come and a recap of the main events of the previous day. Audiences could then watch live performances from the five main stages live and in full all day. Sets from the Pyramid Stage were also broadcast live in UHD for the very first time.

Headliners for the Pyramid Stage included Billie Eilish (Friday), Paul McCartney (Saturday) and Kendrick Lamar (Sunday). Glastonbury favorites HAIM also appeared on Saturday. Alana Haim was recently nominated for a BAFTA for her performance in Licorice Pizza, alongside her real-life sisters and HAIM band members (Este and Danielle).

The Other Stage had Foals, Megan Thee Stallion and The Pet Shop Boys as headliners. Other points of note — Glastonbury regular Kate Tempest, the poet and spoken word artist performed on Friday and Years and Years fans were treated to an "It's a Sin" collab with The Pet Shop Boys when the singer joined the band on stage on Sunday.

Superstar Adele is set to light up London's Hyde Park as one of the headline artists during BST Hyde Park 2022. 

BST has consistently drawn some of the biggest artists back to Hyde Park. Over the years, the likes of Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Celine Dion and Tom Jones have taken to the stage since the concert series was introduced in 2013. 

Having made her comeback late last year with her fourth album, 30, Adele is set to take part in the festival this year, to mark her first public concert in the UK since 2017.

When is Adele on stage?

Although BST Hyde Park kicks off on June 24 and lasts for 10 days across three weekends, Adele isn't performing across all ten days.

Instead, she's headlining two concerts on July 1 and 2. Gates will open at approximately 2 pm on both days.

Will Adele's BST concerts be broadcast on TV? 

Although Adele was recently on our screens in CBS's Adele: One Night Only and An Audience With Adele in the UK, it doesn't look like there are any plans to televise her upcoming performances at Hyde Park. However, this could change and we will update this page when we learn more. There should be highlights at least available.

Across her two shows, Adele will be joined by an all-female line-up packed full of amazing artists.

When the singer announced her supporting acts on Twitter, she wrote: "The line up for my Hyde Park shows next week is going to blow your socks off! An all female bill, from new artists that I'm obsessed with to the heavenly @KaceyMusgraves to one of my favorite artists of all time @GabrielleUK who I've loved since I was 4!!"

Along with Grammy award-winning country star Kacey Musgraves and two-time BRIT Award-winner Gabrielle, attendees will also be treated to performances from Mahalia, Self Esteem, Nilufer Yanya, Tiana Majorg, Chrissi, Bonnie Kemplay, Ruti and Tamzene. 

Are tickets available for Adele's Hyde Park concerts? 

Unfortunately, there are currently no tickets remaining for either of Adele's concerts, as they sold out minutes after they were released back in October 2021.

The American Song Contest 2022 is bringing the magic of Eurovision to the US with an epic, eight-week-long competition.

NBC is airing a US-centric version of the biggest live music competition on the planet to life. In a live TV event that’s not to be missed, representatives from every part of the United States will be singing their hearts out to try and win the title of Best Original Song.

To ensure the huge range of genres and musical styles from across America are represented, each competitor is tasked with performing a brand new track specifically written for the competition.

The competition consists of three qualifying rounds, followed by the semifinals and the ultimate Grand Final where one state or territory will walk away as the big winner.

Who are the hosts of American Song Contest 2022?

NBC has revealed that the hosts of the American Song Contest 2022 are singer Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg (fresh off his Super Bowl 2022 half-time show triumph). 

Both have past experience in singing competitions — Snoop was a "mega mentor" and Kelly was a coach on The Voice (as well as being one of the American Idol winners), so they should have plenty of experience to share with performers.

Snoop Dogg said: "I am honored to host American Song Contest alongside my lil sis Kelly Clarkson, aka Miss Texas."

Clarkson added: "I have been a fan and love the concept of Eurovision and am thrilled to bring the musical phenomenon to America. I’m so excited to work with Snoop and can’t wait to see every state and territory represented by artists singing their own songs."

Where is the American Song Contest 2022 being held?

The American Song Contest is being broadcast live from the Universal Studios Lot in Universal City, California. 

Will the original songs be released?

Yes! Atlantic Records has partnered with NBC and all the artists set to appear in the competition to release each week's batch of original songs.

The songs will be made available at midnight ET/9 pm PT after each episode airs.

Who will perform at the American Song Contest 2022? 

The American Song Contest will see a DJ, band, duo or soloist from every US State, five US territories (Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands), and a performer from Washington, D.C., taking part.

Alabama — Lionel Richie

Born and raised in Tuskegee, Alabama, there can’t be any musician more famous and more fitting to represent Alabama at the American Song Contest than the former Commodores frontman and the legendary singer of hits like "All Night Long".

Alaska — Portugal. The Man

Although they’re based in Portland, Ore., Portugal. The Man originally came from Wasilla, Alaska. They’re best known for their single "Feel It Still", which was certified five-times platinum back in 2019.

American Samoa — Isu Pouesi

Isu is a Polynesian vocalist, songwriter and member of American Samoan music group Banned from the Sun. She participated in the Kennedy Center's 'Arts Across America' initiative in 2020, and you can find her streamed performance here.

Arizona — Stevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks was born in Phoenix, Arizona. Known for her work both with Fleetwood Mac and as a soloist, Stevie is notable for being the first woman to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice.

Arkansas — Evanescence

Formed in Little Rock, Arkansas, Evanescence has been variously classified as both a rock and metal band over the years. They're well known for singles like "Bring Me To Life" and "My Immortal".

California — Katy Perry

There's a reason Katy Perry once sang about "California Gurls"! Born in Santa Barbara, the singer originally tried to make it in the world of gospel music, before shooting to fame off the back of songs like "I Kissed a Girl", "Hot n Cold" and "Firework".

Colorado — The Fray

Formed in Denver, Colorado, The Fray originally achieved success with their 2005 debut album How to Save a Life. They've been compared with the likes of Coldplay and mainly perform rock and power ballads.

Connecticut — John Mayer

John Mayer has won seven Grammys and been nominated for no less than 19 of them. Hailing from Bridgeport, Connecticut, Mayer is both an accomplished soloist and a member of Dead & Company, formed in 2015.

Delaware — Stephen Marley

Born in Wilmington and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, Stephen Marley is the son of legendary reggae star Bob Marley. He started his musical career as part of his older brother's band Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers but launched his solo career in 2007 with his first album, Mind Control. 

Florida — Flo Rida

Florida really couldn't pick anyone else! Born in Carol City, Florida, Flo Rida is a rapper and singer-songwriter who will be no stranger to the contest format. He'd be coming to the American Song Contest 2022 fresh off the back of representing San Marino in a duet with Senhit in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.

Georgia — OutKast

Although the hip hop duo comprised of André 3000 and Big Boi have been on hiatus since 2014, the American Song Contest would be a perfect opportunity for the Georgia-born rappers and producers to return to the stage together.

Guam — Pia Mia

Pia Mia was born in Guam and started out by posting videos of herself on YouTube. Primarily an independent artist, she has collaborated with the likes of will.i.am, Sean Paul and Chris Brown.  

Hawaii — Bruno Mars

Born in Honolulu, Bruno Mars has performed in a wide range of genres including pop, R&B, soul and funk. Accompanied by the Hooligans, he's known hits like "Uptown Funk", "24K Magic" and "Locked Out Of Heaven". 

Idaho — Josh Ritter

Josh Ritter was born in Moscow, Idaho and is known for his stellar songwriting talent. He's a folk and indie performer who performs with the Royal City Band, and has released ten major albums as of 2021.

Illinois — Earth, Wind & Fire

Supergroup Earth, Wind & Fire are still going strong! Originally formed in Chicago by Maurice White, Wade Flemons and Don Whitehead, the team behind anthems like "September" and "Boogie Wonderland" would be sure to get the party going if they took to the stage at the American Song Contest.

Indiana — Guns N’ Roses

Since frontman W. Axl Rose hails from Lafayette, we could well see the world-famous hard rock band behind "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" taking to the stage to represent Indiana.

Iowa — Slipknot

Beloved heavy metal band Slipknot could well represent for Iowa as they were formed in Des Moines back in 1995. Their last album was released in 2019, so there might be some time for the iconic outfit to work on a new song. 

Kansas — Katrina and the Waves

Kansas would be onto a winner with Katrina and the Waves. That's because the British-American pop-rock band won the Eurovision Song Contest for the United Kingdom back in 1997 with "Love Shine A Light". 

A huge competition like the American Song Contest would be the perfect opportunity for Katrina and the Waves to reunite for a new track.

Kentucky — Chris Stapleton

Stapleton was born in Lexington and grew up in Staffordsville, Kentucky. He began his music career in Nashville after dropping out of an engineering degree. He's a major force in country music and would be a perfect fit for Kentucky's entry to the American Song Contest.

Louisiana — Britney Spears

Louisiana is the home of the Princess of Pop, Britney Spears. Although born in Mississippi, she grew up in Kentwood, Louisiana. Since the singer has a huge range of hits to draw inspiration from, she'd be a perfect pick for Louisiana for the American Song Contest 2022. 

Maine — Anna Kendrick

Anna Kendrick initially found fame for her roles in the likes of Twilight and 50/50 but the Portland, Maine native is best known for her starring role in Pitch Perfect, where she really got to show off her vocal talent. She'd be a great choice for Maine's entry.

Maryland — Good Charlotte

Formed in Waldorf, Maryland in 1996, Good Charlotte has been a mainstay band in pop punk ever since. They broke out with their second album The Young and the Hopeless which included tracks such as "The Anthem" and "Girls & Boys".

Massachusetts — Aerosmith

You don't get much more American than the best-selling American hard rock band of all time! Aerosmith were formed in Boston in 1970 and have continued to tour and produce music ever since.

Michigan — Stevie Wonder

Michigan has a huge range of artists to choose from, but one of the biggest artists has got to be Stevie Wonder. He's won 22 Grammys across his career and is regarded as one of the most successful musicians of all time.

Minnesota — Bob Dylan

With a career spanning 60 years, Bob Dylan is possibly one of the most well-known singer-songwriters of all time. He grew up in Hibbing, Minnesota, and has explored a range of American musical styles including blues, folk, and country.

Mississippi — Diplo

Since the American Song Contest 2022 will accept entries from DJs, Diplo could be a solid choice for Mississippi. The DJ and music producer was born in Tupelo Mississippi and has collaborated with a huge range of pop artists including Sia, Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears, Beyoncé and so many more.

Missouri — Tina Turner

Although she grew up as Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee, Missouri could equally lay claim to Tina Turner as she seized success by joining her abusive late first husband Ike Turner and his band on stage one night in a club in St. Louis, Missouri. She was recently the subject of the HBO Max doc, Tina.

Montana — Reggie Watts

Comedian and musician Reggie Watts was raised in Great Falls, Montana before he left to study music at the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington. Since 2015, he's been the bandleader and announcer on The Late Late Show with James Corden. 

Nebraska — 311

Formed in Omaha, Nebraska in 1988, this alt-rock band have been going strong ever since! They were due to celebrate 30 years of performing last year with a North American tour with Incubus, but were forced to cancel due to the pandemic. So, the American Song Contest 2022 would be a perfect opportunity to finally celebrate.

Nevada — The Killers

Formed in Las Vegas, The Killers would be a great fit for the competition! They're the band behind such hits as "Mr. Brightside", "Somebody Told Me" and "The Man". They've been performing since 2001 and are easily one of the most successful acts to come out of Nevada. 

New Hampshire — Mandy Moore

Mandy Moore is a singer and actor who you might recognize from NBC's This Is Us. She was raised in Nashua, New Hampshire has released seven studio albums so far, starting with So Real in 1999. She released her first album in 11 years, Silver Landings,  in 2020.

New Jersey — Bruce Springsteen

You can't get much more American than the man behind "Born in the U.S.A!" The leader of the E Street Band came right from the Jersey Shore and his career has spanned five decades already.

New Mexico — Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato is a solid choice for New Mexico's entry in the American Song Contest 2022. They rose to prominence on the Disney Channel before striking out on a solo career. They've been a mainstay presence in pop ever since.

New York — Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga would be a perfect fit for a show trying to translate Eurovision's bombast to the USA. She was born in New York City and has won 12 Grammy awards since she rose to prominence with hits like "Poker Face" and "Just Dance" in 2008.

North Carolina — J. Cole

J Cole was brought up by his mother in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The rapper and singer-songwriter began rapping when he was just twelve years old and finally started gaining recognition off the back of his debut mixtape, The Come Up. His background in production makes him a great candidate for producing an original song for the American Song Contest.

North Dakota — Wiz Khalifa

Although Wiz Khalifa began writing and performing his own rap lyrics in Pittsburgh, he was originally born in Minot, North Dakota. He's put out a range of mixtapes and albums over the years, the most recent being Big Pimpin in late 2020.

Northern Mariana Islands — Sabyu

Sabyu produces music that is directly inspired by the Pacific Islands and Pacific Northwest. He grew up on Saipan, the largest of the Northern Mariana Islands before moving to Seattle, Washington to pursue a music career. He is a singer-songwriter and producer who plays a variety of instruments including ukulele, guitar and drums.

Ohio — John Legend

Springfield Ohio's John Legend is a huge star! He was the first Black man to become an EGOT (meaning he secured a win at all four of the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Awards) and produces soulful, feel-good R&B and pop tracks.

Oklahoma — All-American Rejects

Formed in Stillwater, Oklahoma, The All-American Rejects are an emo pop-rock group who found continued success since they started playing music back in 1999. They're probably best known for tracks like "Gives You Hell", "Dirty Little Secret" and "Move Along".

Oregon — Esperanza Spalding

Esperanza Spalding is a jazz musician from Portland, Oregon. She began performing as a violinist when she was just five years old, and has since picked up other instruments like guitar and bass. Alongside her performances, she's worked as an educator and became a professor of the Practice of Music at Harvard University back in 2017.

Pennsylvania — Taylor Swift

Pennsylvania will be hard pushed to find a bigger star to represent the State over Taylor Swift. She relocated from West Reading, Pennsylvania to Nashville, Tennessee in 2004 to pursue her career in country music, and the rest is history! Since then, she's been one of the most popular pop artists around.

Puerto Rico — Ricky Martin

The King of Latin pop music began his solo career back in 1991 and gained worldwide success after releasing "Livin' la Vida Loca". He's been a major force in pop music since then, and many Latin artists cite him as a major influence on their own careers.

Rhode Island — Jeffrey Osborne

Jeffrey Osborne grew up in Providence, Rhode Island and was initially the drummer and lead singer for L.T.D before he struck out on his own in 1982. Although his music hasn't been as popular as it was in the 80s, his R&B career has continued to this day. 

South Carolina — Hootie & the Blowfish

Hootie & the Blowfish are an American rock band that formed in Columbia, South Carolina back in 1986. They are a soft rock group that saw mainstream success off the back of their album Cracked Rear View (1994). 

South Dakota — Shawn Colvin

Shawn Colvin is a folk and country singer-songwriter. She was born in Vermillion, South Dakota, before growing up in Carbondale, Illinois and London, Ontario, Canada. She started gigging just after starting college and launched her solo career professionally with her debut album Steady On in 1989.

Tennessee — Justin Timberlake

Tennessee would struggle to find a bigger star for its entry into the American Song Contest 2022. Justin grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, and rose to prominence as one of the lead singers in NSYNC before launching his solo career, where he focussed more on R&B, funk and soul music.

Texas — Beyoncé

Beyoncé is one of the world's best-selling artists, so it would make perfect sense for her to be the American Song Contest entry for Texas. After Destiny's Child went on hiatus, she released her first solo album Dangerously in Love in 2003 and swiftly became a world-renowned singer alongside sweeping up awards across the board!

U.S. Virgin Islands — Pressure 

Pressure is a reggae musician from Saint Thomas, one of the U. S. Virgin Islands.  He released his debut album The Pressure is On in 2005, but his 2016 release Red Rose is probably his widest known album after it debuted at number eight on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart.

Utah — Neon Trees

Hailing from Provo, Utah, Neon Trees are a pop rock band who you might have seen as the supporting act to The Killers on a leg of their North American tour in 2008. With a little help from Killers' drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr, Neon Trees got signed to a major label where they began to release mainstream tracks like "Everybody Talks", "Animal" and "Sleeping With A Friend".

Vermont — Phish

Guitarists Trey Anastasio and Jeff Holdsworth, drummer Jon Fishman and bassist Mike Gordon formed the rock band Phish in Burlington at the University of Vermont in 1983. 

Phish are well known for their improvisation and lengthy jam sessions and have continued to release both studio and live albums ever throughout the years.

Virginia — Pharrell Williams

Pharrell Williams is a very strong candidate for Virginia's American Song Contest entry. Pharrell has collaborated with a range of artists including Gwen Stefani, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg and Usher whilst also working on his solo career or making music with N.E.R.D. and, more recently, working on movie scores too! Hopefully, he'd find the time to fit a nationwide competition into his busy schedule!

Washington — Foo Fighters

Drummer Dave Grohl launched the Foo Fighters following the dissolution of Nirvana in 1994. Dave initially recorded the self-titled debut album himself, before forming a proper band. They've been a hugely popular rock band ever since, and released their tenth studio album, Medicine at Midnight, in October 2020. 

Washington D.C. — Ginuwine

Ginuwine was born in D.C. but began his musical career as part of the R&B and Hip Hop collective Swing Mob in Rochester, New York, where he met Missy Elliott, Timbaland and Static Major. His first solo album arrived in 1996 and included one of his most enduring tracks, "Pony". 

West Virginia — Brad Paisley

Country singer-songwriter Brad Paisley was born and raised in Glen Dale, West Virginia. He began performing in his local area whilst growing up, before officially debuting with Who Needs Pictures in 1999, landing his first no. 1 hit just seven months later. To date, he's put out 11 studio albums.

Wisconsin — Bon Iver

Indie folk band Bon Iver was formed in 2006 by Justin Vernon. Their debut album netted them Grammys for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Music Album in 2012. Their music has flirted with a variety of genres and styles over the years, and Bon Iver has collaborated with a huge range of artists, with a recent example being their featured appearance on Taylor Swift's 2020 album, Folklore. 

Wyoming — Chancey Williams

You don't get more authentic than Chancey Williams. He's perhaps less well known than other country singers, but he and his backing group The Younger Brothers would have a great opportunity to grow their following with the American Song Contest 2022. 

Chancey grew up on a ranch near Moorcroft, Wyoming, and followed his father into the rodeo world before releasing his first album, HonkyTonk Road independently in 2008.

That includes his last fight, which was a loss to fifteenth ranked Thiago Moises. Green has enough wins in the promotion and a recent three fight win streak so he probably isn’t in danger of being cut, but he’s going to need a signature win or two if he hopes to be one of the best in the UFC.

Rafael “Ataman” Fiziev (9-1) is a young rising star who may be ready to snatch a promising future away from “King” Bobby Green. This young native of Kazakhstan has only one loss, which came in his first ever UFC fight against Magomed Mustafaev. This is the second fight of a four-fight contract with UFC that Fiziev signed back in late 2020. Fiziev is also riding back to back bonuses, with a Performance of the Night and Fight of the Night in his last two bouts. Win, lose, or draw — Fiziev is sure to make this exciting to watch.

Lollapalooza is back in person this year, with the popular summer concert festival set to take place at Grant Park in Chicago from July 29-Aug. 1. But you won’t have to go all the way to Chicago to enjoy the massive lineup of musicians. Hulu has released a promo video sharing that they will be the live streaming home for Lollapalooza 2021.

Hulu, in its announcement video, says that this is the first time that Lollapalooza will be live streamed. That does require some clarification, though. 

Lollapalooza 2020 took place entirely as a virtual festival because of the pandemic, with people able to watch performances on YouTube. This included some live performances as well as archived ones from past Lollapalooza festivals. What will distinguish Hulu’s live stream of the show, and allows them to get away with the “first time ever” statement, is that they are offering a live look in at Lollapalooza performances from Grant Park with live crowds, extending the experience to those not able to attend in person.

As streamers try to distinguish themselves with live sports and other events, this is a pretty good get for Hulu as there are music fans all over the country who are itching to return to the concert circuit and may never have been able to go to Lollapalooza.

Whether in-person or streaming, the lineup for Lollapalooza 2021 is as stacked as ever. Across the four-day festival concert goers will see Miley Cyrus, Tyler the Creator, Post Malone, Journey, Megan Thee Stallion, Foo Fighters, Modest Mouse and many, many more. The decision to stream Lollapalooza isn’t a reaction to low attendance numbers either. According to the Chicago Tribune, single-day tickets sold out for the Saturday of the festival (July 31) a day after they were released to the public. Instead, this will allow a larger audience to enjoy all of the Lollapalooza performances without having to travel to Chicago, as long as they have a Hulu subscription. 

Something that is not clear from Hulu’s announcement video, which you can watch below, is whether subscribers will have access to all performances, or if only certain ones will be available. We’ll find out soon enough, as Lollapalooza 2021 kicks off July 29.

That Harrison fight was extra special for Charlo, because it was revenge after Harrison gave Jermell his first career loss and took his title back in December of 2018.

Jermell Charlo has talked a lot about how that one loss shaped him, and has helped make him a more focused and determined fighter. Now he’s turned his focus to becoming the undisputed champion at 154 pounds, which would be the first time that has happened in the modern “four-belt” era. Even though Jermell is considered by nearly everyone to be the best in his class, he’s determined to take a risk to do something truly great to prove it.

Brian “Ray Sugar” Castano (17-0-1) is the WBO Welterweight champion, and even though he has held a series of other belts this is his first World Title defense. Castano won his first interim (temporary?) belt in 2016. Then he was upgraded to a regular title, which is kind of like calling a Silver Medalist a champion when there is a Super Champion or Gold Medalist out there with a higher position. But in February of this year, Castano beat Patrick Teixeira to win the WBO Super Welterweight world championship. 

Castano is Argentine, and he won his first eight professional fights in his home country. He is also undefeated, although he did settle for a draw against Erislandy Lara in 2019. An undisputed championship fight is clearly going to be the biggest fight of his life, but this is far from the only time he’s fought a big name in a spotlight matchup. Although he has twelve knockouts in his career, three of his last five fights ended in decisions. If his power can’t translate up to the elite in this division, it could be a long night for Castano. Or it could be a very short and very bad night for him too.

But his biggest wins against Nick Diaz and Rory McDonald were about a decade ago, so Condit needs to make a big statement in this fight to show he still has what it takes to make noise in the UFC.

Max “Pain” Griffin (17-7) is also at a make or break point for his UFC career, so two desperate fighters could lead to a tense Featured battle. Griffin has a losing record (5-6) since joining the UFC, and that is after he won his last two fights. His most recent win over Song Kenan was a quick round one knockout, so Griffin still has the power to take a fight out of the judges hands. That will be key for Griffin, because he is 3-6 in his nine UFC fights that have gone the distance. If Griffin wants the win, he needs to be focused on how he can finish Condit before the final bell.

After his victory over McGregor back in January, it seemed that Poirier would obviously fight for the title in his next bout. Not only did he beat another top five contender, but he absolutely flattened one of the sports’ biggest names with a vicious three-piece combination.

Poirier’s only loss in the last five years was to the great Khabib Nurmagomedov, but he’s now retired. Otherwise, “The Diamond” has been on a successful tear for years, notching wins over huge names in the sport like Max Holloway, Anthony Pettis, Justin Gaethje and Dan Hooker. But money talks, and the UFC makes the decisions on who gets what fights. Poirier and McGregor have been a huge deal both times they fought, with Conor getting the win in 2014 and Poirier getting revenge in January. Will Poirier make it two in a row? If so, expect him to call out Oliveira in the post fight interview.

“The Notorious” Conor McGregor (22-4) is perhaps the biggest name in all MMA, but now the big draw needs a big win if he wants to stay in the title picture. McGregor is still the fifth ranked contender in the UFC Lightweight division, but he’s 1-2 with just three fights in the last five years. The only win was a total wipeout of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, who really should have hung it up by now. That makes it hard to give him much credit for that one. McGregor is immensely talented, with a big left hand, aggressive swagger style and deep stamina. He’s been a two time undisputed UFC champion, but in both cases he has been stripped of his belt for not defending his title spot.

McGregor has become known as much for his controversies and activities outside of MMA as for his abilities inside the octagon. He is owner of a successful distillery called Proper No. Twelve, and their name is all over MMA and boxing promotions. McGregor has also been arrested multiple times, most recently for a sexual assault in Corsica. That investigation ended without charges, but controversies and legal problems have been a pattern for McGregor. Still if he wins, surely another big fight will come for Conor. If not, expect to see him cashing in from the boxing ring instead.

UFC 264 has more for fans than just one gigantic Main Event Fight. Gilbert “Durinho” Burns (19-4) vs. Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson (16-4-1). Burns is the second ranked welterweight contender and he’s 4-1 since moving back to the weight. However he’s coming off of a knockout loss to the UFC Welterweight champ Kamaru Usman in a title fight. He’ll need to rebound against a tough foe in Thompson, who has twice fought for the title himself. He’s 3-2 in the last four years with wins over Jorge Masvidal and Vincente Luque. This fight should be action packed, and result in a big shake up in the top five of the welterweight division.

Now there are already six different super featherweight champions, with two more belts left vacant right now. Even as a WBA champion, he is third in line behind the Super champion, Gervonta “Tank” Davis, and the regular champion, Roger Gutierrez. Many belts may matter, but it’s hard to make a good case for this one being a big deal.

If Colbert can pull a victory, lots of opportunity lies ahead. Hopefully he’ll be able to be matched against one of the top former champs still active at this weight, like Jojo Diaz or Miguel Berchelt. Maybe with the right opponent he could fight for the vacant IBF belt, but it is not the most likely scenario. The politics of boxing can create a mess, but it can’t take the shine off this young talented fighter.

Tugstsogt “King Tug” Nyambayar (12-1) is the challenger in this fight but he wasn’t the first choice to face Colbert. Originally Yuriorkis Gamboa was scheduled to face Chris Colbert in this fight. While he was coming off of back to back losses to Davis and Devin Haney, Gamboa would have been a bigger name and better test for the interim champ. 

Still Nyambayar is a former featherweight world champion, and only has one career loss to Gary Russell Jr. Nyambayar is ranked in the top ten of featherweights, but he hasn’t been really tested at this weight class or against any other opponents at this level. In his division, a deal has already been struck by two other champions, Gennady “GGG” Golovkin and Ryōta Murata, to have a unification fight, so Charlo is running low on quality opponents he’d want to fight. There are many who would love to see him take on WBO champion Demetrius Andrade, but Charlo has shown little interest in that fight. He’s climbed the mountain in his weight class, but with the other champions and top contenders in other promotions, his next best move might be to move up to super middleweight and force a mandatory showdown with Canelo Alvarez.

Juan Macias Montiel (22-4-2) is the challenger in this fight and a contender at middleweight, but it’s not clear how much of a chance he may have. This Mexican native is only 27 years old, and he’s had quite the interesting career so far. He is coming off of a strong upset victory as the “B-side” fighter against James Kirkland, and he has three wins and a draw in his last four fights. 

Montiel’s last loss was in 2017, when he was stopped by Jaime Munguia in the second round. No boxing experts are giving Montiel a serious chance here, and it is easy to understand why. It is likely too much too soon to expect him to be ready for talent and maturity of Charlo’s level, but maybe Montiel has another upset knockout in him after all.

However his one loss was his last fight, and it was a bad one. Szeremeta was completely exposed in his fight against Gennady “GGG” Golovkin, and he had the fight completely beaten out of him. The referee ended the fight while Szeremeta was sitting on the stool in his corner because he had been taking so much damage while doing nothing. Can he show that it was just a fluke night, and he can really compete at this level? It’s highly unlikely.

Dober has one Fight of the Night and two Performance of the Night award bonuses, so expect him to put on a good show.

Brad “Quake” Riddell (9-1) is only in his third UFC fight, and this native New Zealander has had a short but outstanding pro MMA career. Although he started in MMA in 2013, he had only four fights before 2019. But in January of 2019, Riddell ended his Kickboxing career after a tough string of losses. He went on to win four MMA fights in 2019, including his UFC debut at 243. Riddell brings his powerful striking from his kickboxing discipline to the MMA octagon, so this should be an all action Featured Fight.

No one is going to confuse the upcoming Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul fight with some of boxing’s all-time great bouts — i.e. Ali vs. Frazier, Tyson vs. Holyfield — but the June 6 fight between the undefeated boxing champion and YouTube influencer is generating some attention.

Mayweather has a professional career record of 50-0 with 27 knockouts, winning 15 major world titles across five different weight divisions before he retired in 2015 and having faced opponents like Manny Pacquiao, Oscar de la Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosely and Victor Ortiz. He came out of retirement in 2017 to fight UFC star Connor McGregor as well.

Paul’s boxing career so far consists of two amateur matches against fellow internet personality KSI. In those matches, Paul earned a draw and a loss by a split decision, giving him a record of 0-1-1. Paul’s taller than Mayweather though, so … 

There will be no belt on the line, as the fight is an exhibition between the 44-year-old Mayweather and the 26-year-old Paul.

The June 6 fight will take place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, but here is how you can watch it at home.

How to watch Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul in the U.S. 

One of the easiest ways to watch the Floyd Mayweather/Logan Paul fight will be on Sling TV, which is carrying the Showtime Pay Per View event. 

You don't actually have to subscribe to anything — just fire up the Sling TV app on whatever platform you want, or head to the Sling TV website. Then fork over your $49.99 (which is what the fight costs), and you'll be on your way.

Sling is scheduled to start its Showtime coverage at 8 p.m. Eastern on June 6.

The pay-per-view fight will be available for U.S. audiences via Showtime PPV at 8 p.m. ET on June 6. But Showtime is not stopping there, it is giving the fight some of the same treatment that championship fights get.

On May 29, Showtime will air the 30-minute special Inside Mayweather vs. Paul, which will give a look at how each is preparing for the fight. Inside Mayweather vs. Paul will air at 9:30 p.m. ET on Showtime.

For those who do not have Showtime, Fanmio.com will be the place to watch, with $50 getting you digital access to the fight through Apple TV, iPad or iPhone; Android TV; Google TV; or Amazon Fire TV.

How to watch Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul in the U.K. 

U.K. audiences will be able to access the fight through Sky Sports UK PPV for ￡16.95. British boxing fans are not hiding their disdain for the fight, though. A story from The Sun features fans calling the exhibition “embarrassing” and a “sham.”

Cheer up boxing fans, a third fight between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder is scheduled for July 24.
