Should I buy now or wait for better streaming deals in 2026?

No. For starters, streaming service discounts tend to cluster around holiday seasons, especially Black Friday and Cyber Monday. With 2025 seeing big price hikes at several platforms (including HBO and Disney Plus), it's likely services will continue to jack up prices, if only due to rising inflation.

Not convinced? The current 2025 deals are unusually steep – e.g. Disney+ + Hulu bundled for $4.99/month — a 60-70% discount off typical rates. Starz is offering 12 months for just $1 per month. Waiting will almost certainly come with higher base costs.

Finally, there's no guarantee 2026 streaming deals will match or beat 2025’s due to rising licensing/content costs. Take Apple TV, for instance, which just spent an estimated $750 million for the exclusive U.S. streaming rights to Formula 1 for five years, starting with the 2026 season.

Our advice is to act now and lock in the Cyber Monday price cuts while you can.

If the KPop Demon Hunters and Labubu crazes passed you by, now's as good a time as any to catch up because the 99th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is going heavy on both, with a Derpy Tiger balloon, a Sussie balloonicle and a Friends-giving in POPCITY float amongst the biggest new additions to the annual Manhattan carnival.

Derpy Tiger and Sussie — a blue tiger and six-eyed magpie — are the pets of Jinu in the acclaimed animated musical KPop Demon Hunters. Jinu being the leader of the Saja Boys, the demonic boyband antagonists to Rumi, Mira, and Zoey's heroic K-pop girl group Huntrix.

The Labubu, on the other hand, appears to be this generation's answer to Beanie Babies or Hello Kitty. Remember them?

The headline attractions include floats and balloons promoting Shrek Stranger Things season 5, Toy Story, Super Mario and even Goldfish crackers, and Cynthia Erivo, fresh from Wicked: One Wonderful Night, will be on hand to kick it all off. Typically we're not crazy about the end of summer arriving, but one silver lining to the change in seasons is the launch of the fall TV slate, which always brings a bevy of new shows to the networks (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and various cable channels) and streaming services (Apple TV Plus, Hulu, Netflix, Peacock and more).

Fall 2025 is looking to have a solid lineup for viewers, both with a range of new shows and returning favorites. To help you identify some of the biggest comedies, dramas and reality TV series that you should be keeping an eye on, my colleagues Sarabeth Pollock, Terrell Smith and I are offering our most anticipated fall TV shows and why they're must watch.

The Paper (Peacock)

The Office is, without a doubt, one of my favorite shows of all time. If you were to ask my friends, they’d probably tell you I can even quote lines from specific episodes of the series. It’s because of my love for The Office that I’m optimistic about the sequel show, The Paper.

The new mockumentary follows the employees of a dying newspaper in Toledo, Ohio, as they try to deal with job uncertainty along with the ebbs and flows of their personal lives. The concept of The Paper and The Office are similar, I just want the comedy of both shows to be similar as well. — Terrell Smith

The Paper premieres Thursday, September 4, exclusively on Peacock.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 (AMC)

After spending the first two seasons in France, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 is moving to Spain. Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) are still trying to get home and it looks like there could be a path, but it means venturing into Spain. They’ll face new challenges and new threats in addition to the hordes of undead wandering around.

Daryl Dixon will spend the next two seasons in Spain before the series bows at the end of season 4, so fans will be watching to see how Carol and Daryl’s arrival sets up the beginning of the end of their journey. — Sarabeth Pollock

Only Murders in the Building season 5 (Hulu)

It's just not fall without an Only Murders in the Building mystery to solve. Since 2021, the series has probably been my favorite show on TV thanks to their clever mysteries, fantastic writing and directing, great supporting casts, but most importantly the wonderful and hilarious chemistry between stars Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short.

The show has yet to let me down, which is why I'm stoked to watch Only Murders in the Building season 5, which will attempt to solve who killed the Arconia's doorman Lester, with a host of suspects and new guest stars to choose from.

Only Murders in the Building season 5 premieres Tuesday, September 9, exclusively on Hulu.

High Potential season 2 (ABC)

I started High Potential when it premiered on ABC last fall and loved Kaitlin Olson’s performance as a struggling single mom who has an incredibly high IQ and becomes a consultant for the LAPD, but I got behind on the show and have had to play catch up. But I’m determined to stay up to date with High Potential season 2, as it is probably my most anticipated network TV show this fall.

I'm excited to see Olson’s Morgan Gillroy back on the case, using her unorthodox investigating skills, bantering with her partner (Daniel Sunjata) and trying to unravel what happened to her husband after he mysteriously disappeared years earlier. — Michael Balderston

High Potential season 2 premieres on Tuesday, September 16, on ABC; streams on-demand the following day on Hulu.

Gen V season 2 (Prime Video)

It’s been nearly two years since Gen V premiered, and as a fan of nearly all things The Boys, you can imagine my excitement to see the spinoff series pick up where it left off with Gen V season 2.

With Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Emma (Lizze Broadway) and the other actual “heroes” now portrayed as enemies of Homelander (Antony Starr) and Vought, I’m intrigued to see how the young supes get out of their predicament. On a sadder note, based on the trailer, I get the sense that the real-life death of show star Chance Perdomo, who portrayed Andre, will be handled with care and respect in the new episodes. — Terrell Smith

Love Island Games season 2 (Peacock)

Love Island Games season 2 finally arrives this fall, nearly two years since the first season of the series premiered. Having become a major fan of Love Island USA and just wrapped Love Island USA season 7, the biggest season of the franchise to date, I’m ready to see which past islanders will be competing in the next round of Love Island Games and what romantic connections will be formed.

I’m hoping to see Love Island USA season 5’s Leo and season 7’s Coco, Andreina Santos-Marte and Jeremiah all back on screen in Love Island Games season 2. — Terrell Smith

Reasonable Doubt season 3 (Hulu)

During its tenure on air, Reasonable Doubt has provided a nice fix for my craving for high-octane legal dramas. With Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder and Your Honor, all resting in the annals of TV history, Reasonable Doubt has stepped into the void and is doing an exceptional job showcasing the journey of high-profile attorney Jax Stewart (Emayatzy Corinealdi).

Since Reasonable Doubt season 2 ended on a cliffhanger in regards to Jax and Lewis (McKinley Freeman) being sued over the death of Lewis’ baby with Toni (Tristan Cunningham), I can't wait to see if this becomes the case Jax is dealt a loss. — Terrell Smith

Chad Powers (Hulu)

Ted Lasso was born from a NBC Sports commercial for the Premier League; is our next great sports comedy going to have similar origins?

Chad Powers stars Glen Powell as a disgraced college quarterback who attempts to get a second chance at glory by donning some makeup and a wig and going by the alias Chad Powers to be a walk-on at a struggling program. The series was inspired by a prank video that featured two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Eli Manning attend tryouts at Penn State.

Ted Lasso may be lofty expectations, but I’ve been a big fan of just about everything Powell has done in recent years, so count me in on this one. — Michael Balderston

Chad Powers premieres Tuesday, September 30, exclusively on Hulu.

Task (HBO)

Remember how Mare of Easttown, the Kate Winslet-led crime drama, had us all hooked back in 2021? Well, Brad Ingelsby, the creator of Mare of Easttown, is back with another series set in the Philadelphia suburbs.

In Task, Mark Ruffalo stars as an FBI agent who leads a task force created to put an end to a violent string of robberies in the area. There won’t be any mystery for audiences as to who is doing the crimes, as Tom Pelphrey (Outer Range) has been tapped for that role, but the hunt by Ruffalo and his team to take him down has the potential to be pretty compelling TV. And the pedigree of HBO and Ingelsby's last series bodes well. — Michael Balderston

There is no confirmed premiere date for Task at this time, though HBO has confirmed that the series will premiere in September, streaming simultaneously on HBO Max.

Abbott Elementary season 5 (ABC)

Over the past four seasons, Abbott Elementary has absolutely been the best comedy series in my opinion, so, of course, I’m excited for Abbott Elementary season 5. I can’t wait to see Janine (Quinta Brunson) and Gregory (Tyler James Williams) take their relationship to the next level, Ava (Janelle James) get reacquainted with her job as principal and what other obstacles the Abbott crew faces as they just try to teach in this modern age. Also, who doesn’t want to see more quirky moments from Mr. Johnson (William Stanford Davis)? — Terrell Smith

Nobody Wants This season 2 (Netflix)

If Kristen Bell is in it, I’m usually invested in the project (sans Frozen, which I’ve embarrassingly enough haven’t seen). So when Nobody Wants This debuted last year on Netflix, I quickly powered through the episodes and loved the funny take on opposites attracting and falling in love. She was brilliant as Joanne, an agnostic dating podcaster, falling for Adam Brody’s Noah, a modern rabbi.

In season one, the duo faced a few obstacles as a couple, so I’m left wondering what additional obstacles they may face in season 2, especially given Noah’s promotion in the temple. — Terrell Smith

Nobody Wants This season 2 premieres Thursday, October 23, exclusively on Netflix.

Talamasca: The Secret Order (AMC)

The Anne Rice Immortal Universe is expanding with a brand new spinoff, Talamasca: The Secret Order. Based on the secretive society of observers who keep watch over the world’s supernatural residents, the series will be a spy thriller that sees the agents furtively keeping tabs on witches, vampires and other supernatural beings all over the world.

What we love about this series is that it has the potential for lots of crossovers between Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches, so that means we get to see more from our favorite immortals. — Sarabeth Pollock

Talamasca: The Secret Order premieres Sunday, October 26, on AMC and AMC Plus.

Down Cemetery Road (Apple TV Plus)

Slow Horses remains one of my favorite shows on TV, and I’m excited about Slow Horses season 5. However, I’m just a bit more intrigued by the potential of Down Cemetery Road, a new Apple TV Plus series that is based on a book series by Slow Horses author Mick Herron.

Emma Thompson stars as a private investigator who helps Ruth Wilson in the search for a missing young girl, which quickly spirals into a wide-ranging conspiracy.

Premiering right after Slow Horses ends, it could be the perfect complimentary series and another exciting thriller to stream on Apple TV Plus. — Michael Balderston

Down Cemetery Road premieres Wednesday, October 29, exclusively on Apple TV Plus.

The American Revolution (PBS)

2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, so there are going to be plenty of celebrations revolved around that, including probably more than a few TV specials. It’s a little early, but one of those is a PBS documentary series from Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein and David P. Schmidt, The American Revolution.

Burns has made a name for himself with his in-depth documentaries, including previous ones about the Civil and Vietnam wars. We all know the basics about the American Revolution, but expect for Burns and his co-creators to dive into things that we may never have known about but should not be forgotten. — Michael Balderston

Stranger Things season 5 (Netflix)

At long last, the final season of Stranger Things is here. It’s been more than three years since Stranger Things season 4 set up the end game in the battle between our Hawkins heroes and the Upside Down, so expectations are high for the Duffer Brothers and company to close out the series.

Netflix is making sure that the series is at least getting an epic rollout, with Stranger Things season 5’s eight episodes broken into three parts. The first four premiere in time for Thanksgiving, the next three as a Christmas Day treat, and the Stranger Things finale dropping on New Year’s Eve.

I honestly am having a hard time remembering a series that has had this much anticipation around its finale since Game of Thrones. Here’s hoping they stick the landing better. — Michael Balderston

When Marissa (Sarah Snook) sends her son on his first playdate, the last thing she thinks is that she’ll never see him again, but when it’s time to pick him up, the woman who answers the door isn’t the same mother she dropped him off with, and what’s more is that the woman has no idea who her son is. So begins All Her Fault, a thriller that portrays a desperate woman living through a parent’s worst nightmare. — Sarabeth Pollock

All’s Fair (Hulu)

When Kim Kardashian dazzled critics with her turn as a devious attorney in American Horror Story: Delicate, Ryan Murphy quickly recruited her for another series he was dreaming up. All’s Fair is the story of a powerful Los Angeles law firm run by women. Kardashian plays the firm’s divorce lawyer who works with her team to get the best deal for her clients.

Halloween Baking Championship season 11 (Food Network)

Spooky season is on the way and there’s nothing like Food Network’s Halloween Baking Championship to get you in the mood to bake up some terrifyingly tasty treats. The series, now in its 11th season, features bakers who let their imaginations run wild as they create some of the most extraordinary confectionary creations ever seen.

Halloween Baking Championship season 11 premieres this fall on Food Network.

Holiday Touchdown: A Bill’s Love Story (Hallmark Channel)

Hallmark Channel partnered with the NFL in 2024, leading to their crossover film, Holiday Touchdown: A Chief’s Love Story, which premiered during Countdown to Christmas 2024. This season, Hallmark is heading to Buffalo to bring their brand of holiday magic to the Bills Mafia. Holland Roden, Matthew Daddario and Tony Danza star in what’s sure to be a holiday classic for years to come, especially if you’re a Bills fan. The movie will arrive during the 2025 Countdown to Christmas celebration. — Sarabeth Pollock

Holiday Touchdown: A Bill’s Love Story premieres this fall on Hallmark Channel and streams the next day on Hallmark Plus.

Next Level Baker (Fox)

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is taking baking to new heights with Next Level Baker. After the success of Next Level Chef, a cooking competition that features three teams competing on three different levels of a moving set, it makes sense that Ramsay would expand the franchise and add baking.

With cold weather right around the corner, nothing beats a good baking show to help us prepare for the holidays and we’re excited to see how Ramsay puts his unique stamp on the genre. — Sarabeth Pollock

Next Level Baker premieres this fall on Fox.

Tony DiMera is a man on a mission in Days of Our Lives. He’s trying to put the family business back in the family to honor his father, so will he be the one to discover Stefano’s possession?

Tony (Thaao Penghlis) returned to Salem with a plan to restore DiMera Enterprises to the DiMera family. Upon his arrival, he found EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) fighting to keep Johnny (Carson Boatman) from going to jail for shooting him. With EJ’s mind occupied, Tony told Anna (Leann Hunley) that getting the company back was all up to him.

We think that as someone who isn’t living in Salem full-time, but as someone who knows Stefano better than most, Tony is the perfect person to figure out the mystery of Stefano’s return.

We’ve previously speculated that Rachel might be possessed by Stefano’s restless spirit, and what’s more is that she might be the person who shot EJ. This theory starts to solidify as we consider the motivation to shoot EJ.

Stefano could be angry that EJ isn’t working harder to get DiMera Enterprises back from the Kiriakises and is instead focusing on his own endeavors. It’s easy to imagine Stefano trying to get EJ out of the way using the only vessel he has available, one that would not arouse suspicion: Rachel.

Rachel, of course, was plagued by health issues as a result of “witnessing” the shooting, even though she only saw Johnny (Carson Boatman) with a gun and never saw him pull the trigger. We know Stefano’s nickname, The Phoenix, referred to his ability to come back to life time and time again, and what better way to come back than to take the form of a child who can carry out actions without anyone suspecting anything?

As an observer, Tony might be able to see that while Rachel already had some troubling traits, her recent actions are reflective of his father’s trademark personality quirks. In fact, with everything going on, he might just be the only person to really be able to see what’s going on with her, and from there, he might turn to Marlena (Deidre Hall) for help casting his father’s spirit out of the child.

Tony could be the only person to stop Stefano before he starts causing even more problems for his children and the residents of Salem. But first, he’ll have to find a way to convince people that Rachel is possessed by the spirit of The Phoenix, and that could prove to be challenging.

Rachel Black could be right in the middle of Stefano DiMera’s posthumous return to Days of Our Lives, and the signs have been pointing to it for a while. Not only that, but the little girl could be the perfect target for possession because she already has psychic gifts.

I remember thinking there had to be something going on with Rachel’s stomachaches this past spring. They were too intentional to be a coincidence.

The little girl, played to perfection by Alice Halsey, was plagued by stomachaches after witnessing what she believed to be Johnny (Carson Boatman) shooting her uncle EJ (Dan Feuerriegel).

Not only that, but she had a very troubling dream about her Grandpa John (Drake Hogestyn) that led to another stomachache. She told her mother that she dreamed he was dead, leading Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) to reassure her daughter that John was perfectly fine and they would pay him a visit soon. Little did Kristen know, John was near death in the hospital, and he died soon after. This had me wondering if the little girl had some latent psychic powers coming to the fore.

Over the past few days, there has been a lot of social media and internet chatter that it’s possible that Stefano DiMera’s return could be tied to Rachel. Could it be that his spirit decided to take over the body of a little girl in hopes of drawing the least amount of suspicion possible? Is that why EJ’s mother, Susan (also played by Haiduk), can feel Stefano’s presence all around the DiMera mansion?

What’s more is that if our theory is true, then it’s also very possible that Rachel’s stomachaches are tied to when Stefano is possessing her, and that could be why she’s so upset about the night her uncle was shot.

EJ can’t remember who shot him, and despite Johnny, Chanel (Raven Bowens) and Roman (Josh Taylor) being present at the mansion with an available gun, there’s nothing linking them to the shooting. But Rachel was there, and Rachel saw Johnny with the gun. It looked like her stomachaches were tied to being upset about Johnny getting in trouble for shooting his father, but what if they’re actually a result of the little girl being locked in a battle for control with The Phoenix?

There’s no doubt that Stefano would jump at the opportunity to wreak havoc on Salem without anyone realizing it’s him. Taking over his young relative’s body is a great way to go unnoticed, and it’s also a great explanation as to why Rachel has been acting so strangely.

While the first season was a little tricky to see in the UK at first, Twisted Metal is coming day-and-date for UK viewers.

The streamer has announced that the series will premiere on Thursday, July 31, and it's not clear whether all 12 episodes will be available to see at once, or if the series will follow the US release (above).

There’s not a lot of stability in the TV world these days, and that’s why the Days of Our Lives two-year renewal makes me very happy.

Currently in its 61st season, the Days of Our Lives renewal will extend the Peacock soap through seasons 62 and 63, which coincides with the 2027-2028 television season. In an era of uncertainty, the news offers production teams the ability to plan for the future with long-term story arcs and thrilling new and returning cast members.

Days of Our Lives moved from NBC to Peacock in 2022. Established fans followed the show to its new home, but the show also grew a new fan base of viewers who were just discovering the show in the streaming sphere. I know it’s a lot easier for me to tune in on Peacock whenever I like than to be stuck watching at a certain time or the following day.

But in an era of TV contraction when series are frequently cancelled after a single season (or worse, after a handful of episodes), I have come to really and truly appreciate the bedrock foundation and stability of soap operas.

CBS added Beyond the Gates in February 2025, making it the newest soap opera to debut after several longstanding soaps, like Guiding Light, All My Children and As the World Turns, were sent packing in recent years. The addition of a new soap is encouraging when it would be so easy for networks to add another hour of local news coverage or another syndicated talk show.

As the only soap that calls a streaming platform its home, Days of Our Lives is the best of both worlds. It offers the nostalgia of days gone by with a soap that has been around for over six decades, while paving the way for a strong future with hot new stars who learn the ropes from beloved soap veterans who guide them along the way.

Like other soaps, Days of Our Lives loves a good long-form story, and knowing that the show will have at least two more seasons to play with gives writers time to plot what’s going to happen next. That creative freedom will pay off in dividends as the show continues into season 62 this fall.

I’m glad the powers that be at Peacock can see that continuing the legacy of Days of Our Lives is a smart investment, and I’m hopeful that the renewals will continue so that the stories coming out of Salem never end.

The Love Island train continues on this year with the long-awaited Love Island Games season 2. After the inaugural season of Love Island Games debuted back in November 2023, fans (such as ourselves) are glad to see the show finally return, especially on the heels of Love Island USA season 7 and the new spinoff series, Love Island: Beyond the Villa.

So what can you expect with the new season of Love Island Games? Here’s everything we know.

Love Island Games is back on Tuesday, September 16, on Peacock. In order to watch the series in the US, you’ll need a subscription to the streaming service. Currently, Peacock offers a few options for would-be subscribers. It’s anticipated that Love Island Games season 2 will stream on ITVX in the UK.

As of publication, there are no confirmed islanders for Love Island Games season 2. However, like season 1, season 2 will be filled out with former islanders from various Love Island franchises from across the globe. If we had our say, Love Island USA season 5’s Leo and Kay Kay, Love Island USA season 6’s Liv and Love Island USA season 7’s Jalen and Coco would be in the new season of Love Island Games season 2. But again, nothing has been confirmed at this time.

Now what has been confirmed is that the new host of the series for season 2 will be Ariana Madix.

As much as I love amazing dialogue, great character development and thought-provoking storylines, I have to admit, I’m a sucker for reality TV. And in an exciting feat, NBCUniversal is about to roll out arguably the biggest night in reality TV this year, today, July 13.

What’s today, you ask? Well, today wraps the hottest show of the summer, while debuting two of the most anticipated series of 2025. Let’s talk about the obvious.

After a roller coaster ride of 30-plus episodes, Love Island USA season 7 finally comes to an end today on Peacock as the finalists and fans learn who has won the season. Admittedly, this hasn’t been my favorite season for a myriad of reasons, including the lack of a Movie Night, the changes in Casa Amor and the increase in mean-spirited comments made by viewers about the cast. However, I’m wholeheartedly rooting for Ace and Chelley to win the season, so I’ll be tuning into the season finale to see what happens.

Staying on the Love Island train, how could I not be thrilled for the premiere of Love Island: Beyond the Villa, which also releases its first episode today on Peacock?

Love Island USA season 6 is without a doubt the best season of the franchise. Key to that is my opinion that the season 6 cast was superb. Obviously, fans and the powers that be at NBCUniversal agree, as Love Island: Beyond the Villa follows many members of the cast as they showcase how their lives have progressed outside the villa. I’m more than ready to see PPG back in action, Aaron come face to face with Kaylor and Kendall rehash the demise of his romance with Nicole.

Bringing up the caboose in my excitement train for July 13 is the debut of the brand-new series Kings Court, the spinoff of the popular Peacock original Queens Court. Now, there are a few differences between the spinoff and its predecessor worth pointing out.

Most noticeably, Kings Court sees three male celebrities comb through woman suitors in hopes of finding “the one.” The kings featured in the show’s inaugural season are Tyson Beckford, Carlos Boozer and Thaddeus \"Titus O'Neil\" Bullard.

Another big difference with Kings Court is all the episodes of the season won’t be available to stream at once on Peacock. In fact, the series is rolling out episodes weekly on Bravo starting July 13 at 9 pm ET/PT. But a Peacock subscription can still be quite helpful in watching the series, as episodes can be watched the day after they air live on the streamer.

Oh, and for those interested, before Kings Court airs its first episode on Bravo, part one of The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 16 reunion premieres. I have to wonder which of the ladies has the most to answer for because of their antics.

Again, July 13 is a big night for reality TV, and a Peacock subscription allows you to watch it all. Peacock has several options for would-be subscribers.

Chanel and Paulina’s relationship may have taken another turn for the worse on Days of Our Lives as Johnny is arrested for shooting EJ.

As Salem’s mayor, Paulina (Jackée Harry) knew that there was going to be a lot of scrutiny about Johnny’s (Carson Boatman) arrest, so she tried to get in front of it by instructing Jada (Elia Cantu) to arrest him instead of simply bringing him in for questioning.

Between the high-profile shooting of EJ DiMera (Dan Feurriegel) and the possibility of Johnny receiving special treatment, Paulina had to be careful.

For Chanel (Raven Bowens), though, Paulina could have prevented her husband from being arrested in the first place.

Everyone believes Johnny is innocent, Chanel tells him during their precious few moments together before he’s taken to his cell. In Chanel’s mind, it’s Paulina that they have to worry about. “Mama is the one who stabbed us in the back.”

Chanel isn’t about to forget her mother’s role in Johnny’s arrest, but Johnny points out in the July 1 episode that having the mayor as his mother-in-law is actually helpful, as Paulina was able to schedule his arraignment and bail hearing the night of his arrest so he didn’t have to be in jail overnight.

Of course, it’s another blow between Paulina and Chanel, coming just as the mother-daughter duo was starting to heal from their myriad rifts.

At the moment, though, Chanel has more pressing concerns as her husband accepts EJ’s help to defend himself. She doesn’t think having his father — and the shooting victim — defending him is a good idea, but Johnny and EJ think it’s a great idea. Now Chanel is left trying to keep her husband from going to jail while also ensuring that EJ doesn't do anything that could jeopardize that. And even if EJ is truly on their side, it means Chanel has to put up with him when that's the last thing she wants to do right now.

With everything going on, Chanel’s rift with Paulina might have to wait while she figures out how to help Johnny get out of this mess. But you can bet that if things go sideways with Johnny's trial, Chanel isn't going to forget her mother's role in it.

If a single mess can start the ball rolling toward an even larger mess, then Johnny’s current messy situation on Days of Our Lives is about to upend a lot of Salem residents’ lives.

The June 30 episode began with Johnny (Carson Boatman) being arrested and ended with Roman (Josh Taylor) turning in his gun, which he believed was the gun used to shoot EJ (Dan Feurriegel).

Of course, that’s not the only drama from the episode. Chanel (Raven Bowens) discovered what Johnny had been hiding from her, Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) realized that if she has to testify in the case then EJ will be even angrier with her and Paulina (Jackée Harry) realized that her actions may have put a strain on her relationship with Chanel.

Belle (Martha Madison) has been recused from the case but now that EJ is going to represent his son, she’s going to be in a very tough spot. Rafe (Galen Gering) is furious that Jada (Elia Cantu) took his tip and arrested Johnny instead of bringing him in for questioning while EJ, whose focus was on the new vote at the hospital, is now going to be laser focused on keeping his son out of prison.

Suddenly, it seems like all of Salem is wrapped up in this scandal anew.

Johnny’s arrest comes right after he and EJ cleared the air. Until that moment, EJ truly believed Johnny shot him and he was bound and determined to protect his son from the fallout. However, Johnny made it clear that he never pulled the trigger and instead gave the gun to EJ before he left.

The problem, of course, is that EJ still can’t remember who actually pulled the trigger. He’s been trying to protect Johnny but now he’s on the hook because he told Jada that Johnny didn’t pull the trigger despite the fact that he doesn’t even remember Johnny giving the gun to him before leaving.

With EJ’s memory still fuzzy, Johnny insisting that he didn’t pull the trigger and lots of pieces are parts of the puzzle coming in from all sides, it now seems that all of Salem is tied up in this mess with no clear picture of who actually pulled the trigger and it’s only going to get worse from here.

Marlena and Roman are facing quite the mystery on Days of Our Lives after discovering that there’s a gun, a missing bullet and no suspect. But if Johnny didn’t pull the trigger, who did?

Though it has been weeks since EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) was shot, we still don’t know who pulled the trigger.

Rachel (Alice Halsey) has been plagued by stomach aches because she heard EJ and Johnny (Carson Boatman) arguing. She confided in her grandmother Marlena (Deidre Hall) that she saw Johnny with a gun, and now she’s supposed to keep it all a secret because her mother told her she’d never see her other grandmother again if she tells anyone what happened.

Naturally, Marlena went to Roman (Josh Taylor) for help and discovered he already suspected Johnny could be involved since the gun was missing from the bar. They confronted Johnny, who insisted he didn’t pull the trigger. He admitted to going to the DiMera mansion and confronting his father, but he’s adamant he didn’t shoot him — and that he left the gun with EJ before he left.

So how did the gun end up in the bushes outside, and why is it missing a bullet?

And who shot EJ?

EJ has a long list of people who would like nothing more than to see him dead. And EJ had a hidden camera recording everything the night he was shot; he’s protecting his son from being implicated, but it seems like he’s also hiding the truth about who killed him… unless it really was Johnny.

What’s interesting about this murder mystery is there are lots of possible red herrings… or maybe they aren’t red herrings at all. EJ must know who shot him if he has it recorded.

Rachel stands by what she saw and heard that night, and she’s been told that something terrible will happen to her grandmother if she reveals her secret.

Johnny admits he was there to shoot his father and he has the best motive of anyone: he’s there to get payback for his father raping his mother, which led to his birth.

Since Johnny’s motive to kill his father is so strong and there’s a witness to support it, we’ve no doubt that he’ll probably be implicated in some way, if not charged outright.

However, we’d love to see a vast conspiracy taking place, one where someone else happened to be in the house at the same time Johnny was there, and the stranger is the one who shot EJ on the heels of Johnny’s departure. But surely anyone staking out the house would know that Rachel was there. Did they not know the young girl was nearby, or did they simply not care?

As the evidence seems to stack up against Johnny, without some new evidence it’s possible the young man will be charged with EJ’s shooting. But that means there’s a murderer loose in Salem and no one is safe.

Tony DiMera is back in Salem on Days of Our Lives, but the charismatic count gets the cold shoulder when he proposes that the DiMera family reclaim their birthright to honor their father.

Tony is always a welcome figure in Salem, but it looks like he picked the wrong time to return home.

EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) is in the middle of a big mess as he attempts to keep people from discovering that his estranged son, Johnny (Carson Boatman), not only was in the house the night he was shot, but that Johnny had a gun and Rachel (Alice Halsey) saw the whole thing. EJ had just retrieved the memory card from the hidden camera that captured the whole thing, hoping to use it as insurance to protect his son, as Tony arrived.

Tony, realizing that his half-brother was up to something, asked to be clued in so he can help, but it’s a bigger secret than he expected.

Not only that, but Chad (Billy Flynn) was at The Bistro in the middle of a deep conversation with Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) about “his birthright.” She wants him to think about returning DiMera Enterprises to the family but Chad wants no part of it. He’s busy running The Spectator and that’s where he wants to be.

Needless to say, Tony, having arrived in Salem to bring the family together, was surprised to see that neither EJ nor Chad were willing to do anything to bring the company out from under the control of Titan Industries and the Kiriakis family.

“Yes, I broached the subject,” he tells Anna (Leann Hunley, who will be joining Penghlis once again on the canvas soon) in a phone call at the end of the episode. “It seems that neither of them want to make a move. So if the family business is to be saved, it seems I have to be the one to do it.”

With EJ and Chad distracted, Tony will likely look for allies to help him return control of DiMera Enterprises to his family. What he’ll find, however, is an uphill battle given that there aren’t many people in Salem who want to help EJ at the moment, especially not after he took control of the hospital recently.

That leaves Tony to figure out a solution on his own and that could involve trying to mend more than a few fences around town, especially the ones that EJ has torn down. In a way it’s perfect because we’ll get a chance to see the always suave and debonair Tony using all of his charm and resources to find a solution and it will be so much fun to see.

Rachel’s tummy trouble is fast becoming a problem for EJ on Days of Our Lives, so will he end up sending her away to protect his secret?

In the June 20 episode of Days, EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) discovered that Brady (Eric Martsolf) knew that Rachel (Alice Halsey) saw Johnny (Carson Boatman) shoot EJ on that fateful night. Since then, the young girl has been plagued by stomach issues, no doubt caused by the stress of her uncle’s secret eating away at her.

After getting sick ahead of the graduation ceremony, Brady took Rachel to the hospital to visit Sarah (Lynsey Godfrey) for yet another check-up. Sarah figured out that something was bothering Rachel, and it wasn’t the loss of her Grandpa John (Drake Hogestyn). Given how close Rachel was to John, Sarah quickly determined that whatever the secret is, it’s a big one. Brady assured Sarah that Rachel will continue with therapy, but that’s not the end of it.

Later, during a girl’s night sleepover with her grandmother, Rachel mumbled “No, don’t shoot him” while she was dreaming, leading Marlena (Deidre Hall) to wonder what was going on. Naturally, it won’t take much to connect the dots between Rachel’s upset stomach — a result of stress — and the fact that EJ is the only person who has been shot (recently, at least) in Salem.

This presents a massive problem for EJ, who is working to protect his son from being charged with the crime. EJ will do anything to protect Johnny, but we doubt he’d go so far as to “disappear” Rachel. Now that Brady, and eventually Marlena, know what’s going on with Rachel, it’s going to be a race against time for EJ to find a way to get Rachel away from Salem until the heat dies down.

This leads us to wonder if he’ll propose a grand summer trip for her. Whether it’s summer camp or a European getaway, or heck, even a whole summer traveling to theme parks, EJ will likely do whatever he can to get Rachel out of town before too many people start asking questions.

Like so many Days of Our Lives fans, I was glued to the TV for John Black’s funeral, Bo and Hope’s reunion and the 40th anniversary celebration of Stephen Nichols’ time on the canvas. I’m left thinking about the show’s history and the flashbacks are an absolute treasure trove.

I grew up watching soap operas in an adjacent way, like so many kids before me, because my mother was watching them and I was present for it. I can vividly remember my mother getting me ready for preschool, fixing my pigtails (with brightly colored bows, of course) while talking on the phone (a landline with a 25-foot cord that could nearly travel through the whole house) with my friends’ mothers. Each day they would discuss the day’s soaps and what was going on.

At that moment in time as a young child, their conversations were going over my head and I had no idea what I was watching but there was a lot of kissing and crying from what I remember. I wish, in retrospect, that I’d been paying closer attention.

I started watching Days a few years ago and relied on anecdotal stories from friends about things that happened decades ago. Yes, I could find clips online and read summaries of characters’ family trees and storylines, but seeing it…well, that’s a whole other story.

The past few weeks have been a treasure trove of Days' history between the celebration of John Black’s (Drake Hogestyn) life, Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope’s (Kristian Alfonso) relationship and Nichols’ time on the show. Seeing how “Patch” ended up with the trademark patch over his eye, and hearing how it was Bo who played a role in the incident that led to the injury, was so valuable.

For those who haven’t been watching for years (or decades), these snippets from the past are so valuable mainly because there really aren’t any ways to revisit them. With only two seasons available to stream, there’s no place for fans to travel back in time in the annals of Days past until there’s another opportunity to share clips in a current episode.

All I know is that I was hooked on those little blasts from the past. From the big hair of the 1980s to white-water rafting adventures to fights on hillsides and thrilling supernatural adventures, Days of years past was a sight to behold and I would love to see more of it, especially because I could go back and figure out what had my mom and her friends talking back in the day.

Since Love Island USA season 7 kicked off, the most-talked-about couple has easily been that of Huda and Jeremiah. They were quick to settle into their pairing and have even leaned into the narrative of them being the “mom and dad” of the villa. While some found their dynamic charming, fellow islander Ace, along with many viewers at home, felt as if Huda and Jeremiah were love-bombing one another and moving way too quickly this early into the competition.

Fast forward to the Love Island USA season 7 episode that dropped on June 13, and viewers finally had their chance to weigh in on the season. They were given the option of pairing new bombshells, Iris, Jalen and Pepe with other islanders. This, of course, meant that some existing couples would be torn apart.

As the episode from June 15 aired, it was revealed that Jeremiah was paired with Iris. This was a complete shocker to me, as Iris had more chemistry with Ace and Nic. Then once the episode from June 16 dropped, I was glued to my screen as I just knew it was going to be explosive, and boy was it.

Huda was like a hurricane moving through that villa, shifting the vibes and energy of nearly every other Love Island USA season 7 castmate. But she saved most of her fiery energy for Jeremiah. Jeremiah, meanwhile, got into it with his bestie on the island, Nic; Ace was eager to call Jeremiah out, too.

So, who were the winners and losers of the first big blow-up of Love Island USA season 7? Let’s talk about it.

Winners

Ace
Say what you will about Ace, but he definitely was a winner in all this. You have to respect a person who willingly repeats everything he’s said behind a person’s back to their face. He’s been stating for a while that he doesn’t buy Huda and Jeremiah’s relationship, and he went ahead and told them both his thoughts.

Ace didn’t waver in his emotional exchanges with Jeremiah and Huda. He believes they were moving too fast and someone in their pairing was being disingenuous, and he stood by that. I understand some likely find Ace a bit messy after his exchanges with Amaya and his constant back-and-forth with Chelley, but he vocalized to Huda and Jeremiah what many fans feel if social media is to be believed.

Nic
I hate to see show besties fall out, but I was happy to see Nic also own what he’s been saying about Jeremiah and Huda. Although he arguably could have given Jeremiah a heads-up about his feelings on his dynamic with Huda, I applaud him for at least owning what he’s said behind Jeremiah’s back to his face.

Additionally, Nic held Jeremiah accountable for not checking on Huda in the moments after the recoupling. Nic couldn’t understand why Jeremiah wouldn’t try to comfort her when she was bawling her eyes out if Jeremiah really had such strong feelings for her. To be fair, Jeremiah seems to have been emotionally all over the place, so he may have opted to do nothing, unsure of the right thing to say and do.

Huda
I don’t relish in anyone’s pain, but I have to be honest, Huda’s reaction to America’s vote made for must-watch TV. Her unloading on Jeremiah was a spectacle. One that has me comparing it to Love Island USA season 6’s Serena when she blew up on Kordell on the dock (although I’ll give the Serena showdown the edge). Heck, even Huda’s fellow islanders were actively eavesdropping every time they heard Huda on the move.

Losers

Jeremiah
Jeremiah really went through it this episode. He was villainized by Huda, the guys (sans Austin) and the girls (sans Iris). Again, he didn’t even dump Huda. Regardless of how Ace and others feel about his possible love-bombing and the pace at which he moves with women, if he falls for people fast and hard, who are any of us really to tell him he’s necessarily wrong?

Where Jeremiah really messed up though, was that he didn’t attempt to speak with Huda the night of the recoupling. When he was asked, he answered that he would check on her the following day. Not only that, but Jeremiah suggested he was more upset about Charlie going home than he was about being split from Huda.

Oh, and I can’t forget that Jeremiah said “Huda is cooked,” and he would rather that Huda had gone home. Yes, he said that in response to hearing Huda be so upset about the recoupling and calling him outside of his name. However, there’s an argument to be made that she wouldn’t have been so irate had he just checked on her in the aftermath of the night.

I’m not bashing anyone here. These are real people with real emotions, so that’s not my intent. However, I’m just calling things out as they unfolded in this big Love Island USA moment.

In the current landscape of American TV, Law & Order: SVU has served as the premier police procedural of the past two decades and it looks to continue to do so with Law & Order: SVU season 27.

Again leading the series is our favorite fictional captain, Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay). While her squad room will undergo yet another change given the departure of a few detectives, she happily welcomes one detective back on her team.

Law & Order: SVU season 27 release date

Law & Order: SVU is back, helping to round out NBC's fall 2025-2026 primetime lineup. While a set date has not yet been announced, we do know that new episodes will roll out in the show's usual 9 pm ET/PT slot on Thursdays. Once more information becomes available, we'll pass along the update.

New episodes of Law & Order: SVU premiere live exclusively on NBC. For those that don't have traditional cable/satellite television, you still have the opportunity to watch the show live when it airs using live TV streaming services such as Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV and YouTube TV. All episodes of SVU become available to stream on Peacock the day after they premiere.

We don’t have a UK release date for the new season, but we anticipate new episodes will debut on Sky Witness and NOW when the time comes.

Law & Order: SVU season 27 plot

Law & Order: SVU season 27 cast

Leading the show is the legendary Mariska Hargitay. Since the inception of SVU, she's been playing Olivia Benson, a role for which she's received an Emmy, a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Additionally, while portraying the famous detective, she's made appearances in Chicago P.D., Law & Order and Law & Order: Organized Crime.

Joining Hargitay is another tenured member of the show, Ice-T, who plays Fin Tutuola. Prior to his stint on SVU, he was a hit rapper and a recognizable face from New Jack City and New York Undercover. Also on hand as series regulars are Peter Scanavino (Deception) as Dominick Carisi and Kevin Kane (Life & Beth) as Terry Bruno.

In some great news for show fans, Kelli Giddish is returning as a series regular as Amanda Rollins for season 27. While she's guest-starred in the show since her official departure on season 24, season 27 makes her grand, triumphant return.

Please note that Juliana Aidén Martinez (Griselda) and Octavio Pisano (Coyote), who portrayed Silva and Velasco respectively, will not be returning as regulars in the new season. However, it is expected that Aime Donna Kelly (Chicago Med) is back as Renee Curry, again in a recurring role.

The iconic duo of the Coen Brothers, Joel and Ethan, have not made a movie together since 2018’s The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. To date their solo careers haven’t drummed up the same kind of buzz, despite both good work. That reevaluation should begin with Ethan Coen’s first solo outing when the underrated Drive-Away Dolls lands on Peacock.

Available to watch on Peacock as of June 12, Drive-Away Dolls returns to a major streaming platform after only being available to buy or rent via digital on-demand recently. The ease of streaming Drive-Away Dolls should hopefully give people who haven’t seen it a try, and those that maybe have but weren’t fans of it initially to give it another watch.

Directed by Coen, from a script he co-wrote with his partner Tricia Cooke, Drive-Away Dolls centers on two friends, Jamie (Margaret Qualley) and Marian (Geraldine Viswanathan) who, needing a change in their lives, decide to drive down to Florida, opting to use a drive-away car service. However, the car that they get happens to be carrying something in the trunk that puts shady (but inept) criminals on their tail. Colman Domingo, Beanie Feldstein, Joey Slotnick, C. J. Wilson and Bill Camp also star, with cameos from Pedro Pascal and Matt Damon.

In my Drive-Away Dolls review, I said that the movie “offers familiar wit and eccentric characters” reminiscent of classic Coen Brothers comedies ultimately making for an entertaining watch. I'm not necessarily saying Drive-Away Dolls is quite on the level as a Raising Arizona of The Big Lebowski, but the movie does deserve better than the reception it’s gotten from general audiences.

On Rotten Tomatoes, despite a “Fresh” rating from critics, Drive-Away Dolls has a low score of 37% from audiences. I fully understand that the movie is a bit out there at times, may cross a line or two of decorum for some (though not any more than what comes out of Deadpool’s mouth in Deadpool & Wolverine) and generally may not be for everyone, but Drive-Away Dolls is too entertaining for such a low score.

I’d urge Peacock subscribers to give Drive-Away Dolls another try now that it is back on streaming (and nice timing with it being Pride Month). While the movie is streaming exclusively on Peacock, it is also available via digital on-demand if you’re interested. Drive-Away Dolls is streaming on Sky TV in the UK, as well.

For starters, it looks like season 6’s PPG group is back together. This, of course, includes Leah Kateb, Serena Page and JaNa Craig. They’re joined by their respective boyfriends from Love Island USA, Miguel Harichi, Kordell Beckham and Kenny Rodriguez (it appears Kordell will be in the series in a limited capacity).

Joining these six are Aaron Evans, Kaylor Martin, Kendall Washington, Olivia Walker, Connor Newsum and Nicole Jacky. Noticeably absent from the trailer, at least, is everyone’s favorite overall-wearing islander, Rob Rausch, so you shouldn't expect to see him.

We’re still in week one of Love Island USA season 7, and it’s already leaving quite the impression on me.

Coming into the new season, I felt the powers that be at Peacock had a big challenge in front of them, trying to recapture the magic that made Love Island USA season 6 so special. I dubbed last season the best in the show’s history, and the cast from it have become so wildly popular that a spinoff has been created to showcase them titled Love Island: Beyond the Villa.

Well, aside from Peacock rolling out the season 7 premiere episode nearly 45 minutes late and a certain misstep in casting, I have to say, I’m so far a fan of the new season. By and large, I like the season 7 cast. Although some of them don’t stick out all the time, and others are already making some questionable decisions, as a whole, Peacock has a good group.

That being said, in particular, I’ve become a fan of Ace Greene. He has a star quality about him you just can’t deny. I think it starts with Ace's chemistry with Chelley. Not to get too mushy, but whenever the two are on screen, I can’t help but smile because their courtship is downright cute.

They may not be coupled with one another yet (as of publication), but their one-on-one conversations flow seamlessly, threaded together with flirtatious banter, megawatt smiles, infectious laughs and a few stolen kisses. It may be too early for some to call them frontrunners to land in the finals, but I’m doing it anyway. Given they individually have been hot commodities in the Villa, I’m just nervous someone’s head will turn or they won’t survive Casa Amor if they do indeed make it that far.

On that Chelley note, I have to applaud Ace for being so candid about his attraction to her right in the open. In the Love Island USA season 7 episode that debuted on June 5, he literally talked about his feelings for her, and Austin, with whom Chelley is coupled up with, was in earshot a few feet away. Yeah, a few fans likely found that rude, but I liked him being so bold.

Beyond Chelley, Ace is entertaining to watch as he’s not afraid to call something out if it seems questionable. Like his fascination with the dynamic between Jeremiah and Huda.

From day one, Jeremiah and Huda have been attached at the hip. Despite them claiming they haven’t closed things off, they are only focused on each other. Heck, in the first challenge after the islanders coupled up, Jeremiah appeared incredibly bothered as he tried to find out who else Huda may have kissed while they were all blindfolded. The inquiry made other islanders raise an eyebrow, me too, as it was a bit early for anyone to develop so much attachment to get jealous.

Conversely, when Cierra arrived in the Villa and pulled Jeremiah for a one-on-one chat, Huda made sure to make herself visible to the duo, as if to ensure their conversation was above board. Huda even cut their conversation short.

Then, during the invasive get-to-know-you game, again in the Love Island USA season 7 episode from June 5, Huda revealed that she’s slept with two men on the same day, after the first guy didn’t “satisfy” her.

When the guys and girls separated to recap the game, Ace became Mr. Intrusive. Initially, Nic asked Jeremiah his thoughts on Huda's revelation. Jeremiah shrugged it off, as he slept with two girls in the same day, and he seemed to understand Huda’s rationale if the first guy didn’t please her. Then Ace chimed in, further inquiring how Jeremiah felt about her explanation, and Jeremiah claimed he wasn’t worried as they [women he’s been with] get to the “finish line.”

Ace pressed the issue, wanting to know what would happen if Jeremiah slept with Huda and she claimed he didn’t get her to the “finish line.” An annoyed Jeremiah replied he wasn’t worried about it.

Not knowing when to let up, Ace threw out the hypothetical that it’s possible Huda told the first guy in her past situation that it was great, insinuating Huda may falsely give Jeremiah a glowing review. Jeremiah dismissed the interrogation and looked beyond annoyed and more agitated.

Later, alone with Taylor, Ace questioned Jeremiah’s intentions. Ace went so far as to accuse Jeremiah of love bombing Huda and playing it safe.

Now, many social media users have accused Ace of being messy for offering his two cents on Jeremiah and Huda. As much as I like Ace, I have to agree. However, I can’t act like I haven’t questioned if Jeremiah and Huda were moving too fast. As a viewer at home, it seems as if they are, so it was nice to watch Ace also be suspicious and call it out. I wouldn’t make such moves in my everyday life, but given he’s on a reality TV show, Ace is doing a good job of keeping things entertaining.

I just hope Ace doesn’t push Jeremiah’s buttons too much in the future. He could be setting himself up for quite the clash.

Love Island USA season 7 streams exclusively in the US on Peacock.

We’re thankfully back in the swing of things for the summer as Love Island USA season 7 has officially launched. Though things got off to a rocky start, as the season 7 premiere was delayed on Peacock (it was advertised to become available at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT, but that turned more into 9:40 pm ET/6:40 pm PT), once Love Island USA season 7 episode 1 hit the streamer, I was locked in.

Usually, the Love Island USA season premiere serves as an orientation of sorts. The new islanders are introducing themselves and getting to know one another, while viewers at home are sizing up who they may find themselves rooting for as the episodes roll out.

Already, I find myself gravitating toward Chelley, Huda, Olandria, Jeremiah and Ace. I’m fully aware that’s almost half the cast, if you include the two late bombshell arrivals at the end of episode 1, but I imagine I’ll narrow down my list to a few favorites as more games are played, people are introduced and hijinks ensue on the island.

In addition to assessing the islanders as individuals, like many fans, I was analyzing the romantic connections being formed. Although it’s way too early for any of the contestants to be head over heels for one another, let alone for the L-word to be dropped (although Huda and Jeremiah did say it to each other by mistake), I already see that Chelley and Ace have the potential to be quite the romantic force on this season. They may possibly even win.

Chelley and Ace kicked things off with quite the meet-cute story. Chelley was standing with the rest of the women islanders and host Ariana Madix, when Ace and Nic entered the villa for the first time. Upon spotting Ace from afar, Chelley was noticeably shocked. Then, as Ace approached the ladies, he locked eyes with Chelley and laughed, “I know you,” before giving her a hug.

Hearing Ace’s statement, Ariana asked for clarification. Ace said they actually met before at a New York club. Chelley and Ace went on to elaborate that they subsequently communicated via Instagram for a little while, but things fizzled out as she was from Orlando and he was from Los Angeles. But the two of them clearly have some unfinished business.

Every time the two came in close proximity of one another, and especially when they kissed, the sparks flew. The pure magnetism was also apparent in their one-on-one convo on day 2. Even though the first coupling saw Ace paired with Yulissa (after she ultimately stole him from Chelley) and Chelley paired with Austin, Ace and Chelley have a gravitational pull that makes them want to keep exploring their connection. Heck, they both pretty much admitted they have more attraction to each other than their respective partners.

I just have to believe that Chelley and Ace will eventually pair up by the next coupling ceremony and really try to continue what they started in The Big Apple. If they manage that, they’d almost be a shoo-in to be one of the final couples standing at the end of the season.

Having said all of that, one person could be capable of stopping Chelley and Ace from walking in the footsteps of Love Island USA season 6 winners, Serena and Kordell. This person is ironically Ace.

As clear as the connection is between Chelley and Ace, the 22-year-old dancer is respectfully the hot commodity of the season so far. When given the opportunity, every lady (with the exception of Belle-A) has chosen to share a kiss with Ace, and they all seemed to really enjoy it.

Furthermore, when Ace was given the chance to kiss another islander in secret in episode 1, he kissed Chelley, but he also randomly planted one on Huda. My concern is that Ace will have a wandering eye this season and may not wind up being the most respectful of Chelley’s feelings in the way he moves. Chelley seems like the type of person who knows who she is and what she’s willing to accept, leading me to wonder if she’d put up with Ace if he indeed turns out to be the playboy of the season.

But again, it’s early on in the competition, and Ace is exploring his options as he should. So he could eventually lock in with Chelley, forgo all the extra attention and stop paying attention to other women, which I want to happen. Let’s just hope Chelley and Ace solidify things before the infamous Casa Amor.

New episodes of Days of our Lives stream every weekday on Peacock.

It’s not often that we get to see our favorite soap opera characters going through the long laundry lists of people with whom they have shared relations in the past, so it’s fun when it happens and we can see the characters themselves cringe (even if it’s just a little bit) when confronted by the magnitude of their amorous endeavors. We had one such moment in the May 28 episode of Days of Our Lives in a conversation between EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) and Kristen (Stacy Haiduk).

After learning that John Black (Drake Hogestyn) had been in a terrible accident and wasn’t expected to survive, Kristen was left speechless, and EJ tried, awkwardly, to console her.

When Kristen admits that John was the first man she ever loved, EJ points out that she was willing to do anything — including passing him off as her child. Kristen sighs, reminding him, “I wasn’t in my right mind, obviously.”

Kristen goes on to say that she was blinded by her feelings for John. “Feelings that you subsequently transferred onto his son, which isn’t creepy at all, Kristen,” EJ replies drily.

Their conversation continued thusly:

“Oh come on, are you calling me creepy right now?” the exasperated sibling retorts. “I mean, look who’s talking. I mean, you what, are sleeping with your ex-wife’s sister?”

“Again,” EJ agrees.

“Again, yes,” Kristen says. “And as I recall, you were with Kate Roberts at some point, and later with her daughter, Billie.”

“All right, point taken,” EJ admits.

Kristen sighs again. “I guess us DiMeras are a bit twisted in our own way.”

As a relative newcomer to soaps (I’ve been knee-deep in soaps for two years now), hearing how many characters have been romantically involved with each other at one time or another never ceases to amaze me.

This is one of the rare moments when the characters themselves try to piece together their own romantic interludes and have to reckon with their life choices.

For EJ, who is trying (to the best of his morally grey ability) to be a new man, he’s not ashamed of his choices, but he’s clearly looking at the world through a new lens. That said, we don’t get the sense that patterns won’t repeat with him in the future, because they always do. Kristen freely admits she’d do anything for love, and we’re not entirely sure she wouldn’t do it again if the opportunity presented itself.

You’d be hard pressed to find characters on a long-running soap opera like Days of Our Lives who haven’t had their fair share of relationships and entanglements over the years. That said, I hope EJ and Kristen keep up their “twisted” DiMera way because that’s what makes watching them so much fun!

Another summer is upon us, which means it’s time for another season of Love Island USA, much to the delight of fans.

After Love Island USA season 6 proved to be the best season yet, Love Island USA season 7 has quite the shoes to fill. The powers that be at Peacock are hoping the Love Island USA season 7 cast is up for the challenge.

Now loyal Love Island watchers know that each season kicks off with a crop of "OG" islanders hoping they survive the weeks of competition and recoupling to make it to the finale episode. As connections fizzle out, bombshells are brought in and Casa Amor gets underway, we'll have to see just how many of the OG islanders make it to the end.

Jeremiah

Chelley

Chelley is big on “zodiac signs,” and admits to judging based on where someone falls on the zodiac calendar. She’s Haitian and speaks a little Creole.

Yulissa

Yulissa brings relationship experience with her, having been in one for nine years. When looking for a partner, she wants to find someone who will nurture her.

Ace

Ace professes to being a “short king” who doesn’t have an issue with taller women. He just doesn’t want to be the “little spoon.” Additionally, he claims to be a good dancer.

Austin

Austin calls himself the “pool man,” noting he looks good while cleaning a pool. For the ladies interested in giggling, he enjoys making people laugh.

Belle-A

Belle-A shares that at her family's coffee shop, you can find her in the back making pastries. In fact, she finds a lot of fulfillment working at the family business, happy to make people’s day better.

Taylor

Taylor tips his hat to Love Island USA fans as a self-proclaimed cowboy. His mantra is, “If you’re not being dangerous, you’re not living life." He’s looking for a lady with a “good personality” and a “big booty.”

Olandria

Olandria is a first-generation college student and is “for work.” She’s also a big fan of college football and has her own touchdown dance.

Nicolas

Nicolas is the adventurous type, down for anything, whether that be skydiving or motorcycling. He’s also into extreme sports and new experiences.

Huda

Huda is ready to find her lifelong partner, and frowns upon men who go to the club texting a “million different girls.” Tired of going on dates, she hopes Love Island will bring her a mate.

Cierra

Cierra claims not to care whose toes she has to step on in her quest for love on the show.

Charlie

Charlie is from the UK and notes that girls often compliment him on his lips and enjoy kissing him.

Amaya

Amaya is a registered nurse from New York City, who has quite the infectious laugh on the series.

Hannah

Hannah is from Tucson, Arizona and she graduated cum laude from California State University, Fullerton.

Iris

Iris is a digital content creator from Los Angeles. She entered the villa with eyes set for Nic and Jeremiah.

Jose

Jose is a retired professional basketball player and personal trainer from Madrid, Spain.

Looking for some new movies to stream in June? Well great news, there are plenty of options across the likes of Netflix, Max, Disney Plus and all of the major streaming services this month. With that said, it can be a lot to scroll through, so allow me to offer my humble services in helping you find the new movies on streaming that you are not going to want to miss.

The below list of movies are taken from the major streaming services: Apple TV Plus, Disney Plus, Hulu, Max, Netflix, Paramount Plus, Peacock and Prime Video. I'm also specifically picking movies that are new to streaming this month — in this case, these are 15 movies that are landing on one of the major streamers for the first time, or coming back to streaming services after only being available via on-demand.

So without further ado, here are my picks for the 15 movies to stream in June.

The Actor (Hulu)

While The Actor made very little noise at the box office, it did seem to resonate with those who saw it, as the movie earned a 90% positive score from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. So what is this indie movie about? Based on the novel Memory by Donald E. Westlake, The Actor is a psychological drama about a man who is left for dead in a small town in 1950s Ohio, with his memory completely gone. He must figure out how to reclaim what he has lost. Andre Holland stars alongside Gemma Chan, Toby Jones and more.

Beasts of the Southern Wild (Hulu)

Beasts of the Southern Wild is a magical movie. The southern folk tale focuses on a young girl named Hushpuppy, played by Quvenzhané Wallis, who must go on an adventure to save her ill father and their bayou home as it is threatened by melting ice-caps and mythical beasts. Director Behn Zeitline has unfortunately not made a movie to rival this one (his only other feature credit to date is 2020’s Wendy, which came and went with little fanfare), but if his sole movie of note is Beasts of the Southern Wild, then he’s put his stamp on cinema with a gem that deserves to be rediscovered.

Before Midnight (Hulu)

To help mark the 30th anniversary of Before Sunrise, I declared the movie’s central couple Jesse and Celine, played by Ethan Hawke and Julie Deply, as the greatest movie couple of all time. That’s not just because of their magical night in Vienna, but the entire run of their relationship that we see in Before Sunset and Before Midnight. You can experience the latter on streaming again in June. Before Midnight picks up with Jesse and Celine after another nine years. They are married and vacationing in Greece with their family, but is the spark that they had in Vienna and Paris something that is built to last?

The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie (Max)

Looney Tunes were a big part of growing up for me, as I loved watching the old cartoons. Well, kids today have gotten their very own Looney Tunes original, and it’s a feature-length movie. In The Day the Earth Blew Up, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig must save the world from an alien invasion; expect wacky antics to ensue. The Day the Earth Blew Up is “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes. With kids at home for the summer from school, the timing is perfect to give them something fun to watch.

Frozen: The Hit Broadway Musical (Disney Plus)

Fans of Frozen can watch the well known story of Anna, Elsa and Olaf in an entirely new way, as a Broadway production. Telling the same story and featuring iconic songs like “For the First Time in Forever,” “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and of course “Let It Go,” the recording of the stage production also features 12 new original songs. Disney previously had a massive streaming hit with a recording of Hamilton on Broadway, this could be something just as big.

Stream Frozen: The Hit Broadway Musical on Disney Plus worldwide starting June 20.

The Intern (Netflix)

It’s crazy to think that Nancy Meyers hasn’t made a movie since 2015’s The Intern (she was working on a project with Netflix but it was ultimately scrapped because of budget concerns). While I wouldn’t say that The Intern is her best movie (The Holiday, Something’s Gotta Give top the list for me), The Intern is a charming movie about a retiree (Robert De Niro) deciding to rejuvenate his life by becoming an intern for a startup, where he becomes a key ally and confident to the novice CEO (Anne Hathaway). It’s the easy kind of watch that you just need some times.

Jaws (Peacock)

Summer is beach season, which makes the terror of Jaws all the more palpable; don’t worry, shark attacks are not nearly as prevalent as Steven Spielberg’s breakout movie (though notably not Spielberg’s first big-screen movie) would make it seem. The all-time classic celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2025, so there’s no better time to watch.

Stream Jaws on Peacock in the US starting June 15; Jaws is not streaming in the UK at this time.

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (Hulu)

Another underrated gem from 2015 to stream this month is Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. A coming-of-age comedy with some darker tones focuses on a high schooler that befriends a classmate that has been diagnosed with cancer. A breakout movie for Olivia Cooke (who plays the titular dying girl), Thomas Mann and RJ Cyler — supported by the likes of Nick Offerman, Molly Shannon, Connie Britton and Jon Bernthal — the movie doesn’t pander to its primary teen audience, offering a mature take on growing up, connection and death.

A Minecraft Movie (Max)

While we don’t have an exact date, we do know that the biggest movie of 2025 to date is coming to streaming in June, as A Minecraft Movie is set to premiere on Max. After raking in early a billion dollars worldwide and causing quite the stir in theaters (thanks in large part to the chicken jockey), the video game adaptation hits home, allowing fans to dive into the world of Minecraft once again.

Parthenope (Max)

Parthenope the movie is much like Pathenope the character, mysterious (perhaps a bit confusing) yet quite alluring. The movie was not a big hit with most critics, but I enjoyed Paolo Sorrentino’s exploration of Naples through the years via the perspective of the titular young woman, played by newcomer Celeste Dalla Porta (read my Parthenope review for more details on why). The movie also features a brief supporting turn from Gary Oldman as famous author John Cheever. While I don’t know if it’s one of the best, Parthenope is definitely one of the most intriguing movies of the year.

Presence (Hulu)

Steven Soderbergh’s other 2025 new movie, aside from Black Bag, is a haunted house movie that has also received great critical acclaim (“Certified Fresh” at 88%). Despite the solid reviews, Presence got little fanfare at the early year box office, so this is going to be the chance for the movie — starring Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan and Julia Fox — to finally find its audience.

Rear Window (Netflix)

Netflix is giving legendary director Alfred Hitchcock the spotlight in June, as the streaming service is adding six of his movies, including classics like Vertigo and The Birds. But my pick of the Hitchcock movie you need to watch on Netflix this month is Rear Window. The movie stars Jimmy Stewart as a professional photographer bored out of his mind while recovering from a broken leg, who begins to watch the neighbors in his apartment complex. Things get dicey when he begins to suspect that one neighbor has murdered his wife. This is one of my favorite Hitchcock movies, and is a perfect sampling to see why he is considered one of the greatest directors of all time.

Stream Rear Window on Netflix starting June 1.

Sally (Disney Plus/Hulu)

An American icon, Sally Ride was the first American woman in space, but back on Earth things were complicated in her personal life. This new documentary, from National Geographic and Emmy-winning documentarian Cristina Costantini, reveals the sacrifices that Sally Ride made in her life, with testimony from her life-partner of 27 years, Tam O’Shaughnessy.

Stream Sally on Disney Plus and Hulu in the US starting June 17; streaming on Disney Plus in the UK as of June 17.

Titan: The OceanGate Disaster (Netflix)

Another documentary to watch on streaming in June is Titan: The OceanGate Disaster. Most will remember the tragic story of the implosion of an OceanGate submersible, the Titan, that killed all five passengers in 2023. This documentary will look at what went wrong to lead to such an outcome. This is one of two documentaries about the Titan incident, with the other being Implosion: The Titanic Sub Disaster.

Stream Titan: The OceanGate Disaster on Netflix starting June 11.

Straw (Netflix)

The prolific Tyler Perry has a brand new project as the director and writer of Straw, a thriller starring Taraji P. Henson as a single mother who is pushed to the brink, leading her to a shocking act of desperation. Henson is joined in the cast by Teyana Taylor, Sherri Shepherd, Rockmund Dunbar, Glynn Turman and, in one of his most profile roles in years, Sinbad.

Stream Straw on Netflix starting June 6.

New episodes of Days of our Lives stream every weekday on Peacock.

One of the biggest movies coming in June 2025 is a spin-off of a hit action franchise and if you need to catch up, a new deal at Peacock will make doing so easy.

From now until Friday, May 30, you can sign up to Peacock's standard plan for $24.99 for an entire year. That's down from $79.99 normally, which is a saving of $55, and it brings the monthly cost to just $2 (well, and a few cents but we'll round down).

To get the deal, you'll need to use the code SPRINGSAVINGS when signing up for Peacock Premium's annual plan. There are no deals on the Premium Plus annual plan or any of the monthly plans.

Many people will want to sign up for this Peacock deal to stream Wicked, the hit 2024 musical which was added to the streamer in March. It's only going to be on Peacock until Sunday, July 20, and you can also see loads of bonus features on the streamer.

But if that's not your cup of tea, another recent upload may appeal to you. On Thursday, May 15, Peacock uploaded the four John Wick movies (that's the original, Chapter 2, Chapter 3 - Parabellum and Chapter 4) where they join the spin-off TV show The Continental which is already on the streamer.

These Keanu Reeves-starring movies are massive hits, and remain some of the most popular action movies of recent years. Another spin-off, Ballerina, arrives in theaters on Friday, June 6, so getting the Peacock deal will let you catch up.

Other exciting new Peacock shows include Love Island USA season 7 on Tuesday, June 3, travel competition show Destination X on Wednesday, May 28 and the return of Twisted Metal season 2 in July.

If you're more into your sport, Peacock will show Big Ten Football in fall and NBA games from October this year. It also shows Premier League soccer, primetime NFL matches and a lot more, basically anything that shows on NBC channels.

Peacock's good at offering deals year-round, but I don't imagine we'll see the price of an annual membership go any lower in the near future, and it could even go up given how frequently price hikes come to streaming subscriptions. So whether it's for Wicked, John Wick, sports, one of the new additions or something in the expansive Peacock library, I'd recommend signing up now.

The summer season is upon us. While the summer blockbuster movie season gets much of the hype, TV doesn't take the summer off, as there are plenty of enticing and exciting TV shows (new and returning) for people to watch as they try to beat the heat. We here at What to Watch certainly has a number of shows that we can't wait to dive into.

Along with my What to Watch colleagues Sarabeth Pollock and Terrell Smith, we have put together a list of 17 summer TV shows that we're most excited to tune in for and/or binge this summer ranging across streaming services and cable channels. All shows are premiering from Memorial Day weekend through August (even though those later shows will likely bleed a little bit into the fall TV season).

No need to keep you waiting, let's dive into the summer TV shows that we are most excited to watch this year.

Rick and Morty season 8 (May 25, Adult Swim)

The first summer TV show to premiere is none other than the latest adventures of Rick and Morty. The mad scientist, his grandson and the rest of the Smith family will once again traverse the galaxy and multiverse for our entertainment.

Rick and Morty season 7 proved that the show was capable of still being both hilarious and thought provoking despite the exit of Justin Roiland, so the expectations for Rick and Morty season 8 are sky high for the fan-favorite animated series. — Michael Balderston

And Just Like That season 3 (May 29, Max)

I never watched Sex and the City while it was airing, but I was definitely familiar with the story of four friends living fabulous lives in New York City. It was a cultural touchstone for a generation of viewers who dreamed of shoes and Cosmos and living in a luxurious apartment on a writer’s salary.

All it took for me was a week-long binge and I was hooked on the original series, so it’s not surprising that I wanted to see what happened with Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte (Kristen Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) at a different point in their lives in And Just Like That.

In And Just Like That season 3, fans will finally learn whether Carrie and Aidan (John Corbett) are going to stick to their long distance relationship, while Charlotte continues to navigate life with her teens and Miranda figures out what makes her happy. I’m ready to escape to New York this summer! — Sarabeth Pollock

Dept. Q (May 29, Netflix)

At least as of publication, I’m not sure whether or not we’re getting Slow Horses season 5 this summer (Apple TV Plus is expected to release it before the end of the year, but an exact premiere date has not been set). Thankfully, Netflix will have an enticing new series to sate my wisecracking law enforcement officer quota, as Matthew Goode stars as a Scottish detective put in charge of a new division tasked with solving Edinburgh’s toughest cold cases in Dept. Q.

Adding to the intrigue, the series is directed by the creator/director of The Queen’s Gambit, Scott Frank. Say hello to one of my Netflix binges of the summer. — Michael Balderston

Love Island USA season 7 (June 3, Peacock)

After Love Island USA season 6 left quite the impression on viewers (me included) as arguably the best in the history of the franchise, how could I not be excited for Love Island USA season 7. This summer guilty pleasure is fun to watch as unsuspecting men and women in their 20s flock to Fiji in search of love (and the monetary prize). Now ordinarily, I question all reality TV dating shows in terms of whether real romance can be found. However, Love Island USA seemingly has a pretty solid track record. Heck, the PPG couples from Love Island USA season 6 are still together if social media is to be believed.

With all that being said, season 7 has some big shoes to fill. While Ariana Madix is returning to hosting duties, a whole new crop of Islanders will be front and center, and they have the hard task of entertaining fans like their season 6 predecessors. —Terrell Smith

Stick (June 4, Apple TV Plus)

Does Apple TV Plus have another Ted Lasso on its hands? Too soon to tell, but Stick has a few things going for it that the comparison could prove apt.

Owen Wilson stars in the sports comedy as a washed up golf pro who discovers a young phenom and attempts to help develop his game to become a star. While the supporting cast of actors is strong (Judy Greer, Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño), the show also features cameos from some of the top golfers in the game today, as well as legendary broadcaster Jim Nantz.

I’m a golf fan, so I’m definitely interested, but Stick could have some appeal to non-golfers as well. — Michael Balderston

Ginny & Georgia season 3 (June 5, Netflix)

Ginny & Georgia season 2 ended on quite the interesting note, with Georgia (Brianne Howey) being hauled away from her marriage reception in handcuffs. In Ginny & Georgia season 3, she’s set to face off in court for the murder of Cynthia’s (Sabrina Grdevich) husband. While Georgia is in fact guilty of a mercy killing, I have a sneak suspicion she’ll once again be saved from prison. However, I just don’t know how that comes about, so I’ll be watching.

It should also prove interesting to see how Ginny (Antonia Gentry) deals with a murderous scarlett letter on her mother’s chest. The teen already had some coming-of-age issues, so trying to stand beside her mother during a criminal case of this magnitude could push her to a whole new level of stress. — Terrell Smith

The Real Housewives of Miami season 7 (June 11, Peacock)

Since The Real Housewives of Miami was resuscitated on Peacock before returning to Bravo, I’ve argued with friends that the reality TV show is arguably the second-best Housewives series on the air, behind The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. The ladies in South Beach really know how to bring the drama in a way that feels less contrived and slightly less toxic. Don’t get me wrong, the arguments among the group can be completely ridiculous at times, but that’s part of what makes the show so entertaining.

The Real Housewives of Miami season 7 could prove to be the best yet, as it appears some alliances are shifting, some romances are ending and the former girlfriend of Nicole’s fiancé Anthony has joined the cast. — Terrell Smith

The Gilded Age season 3 (June 22, HBO)

A friend’s mother recommended The Gilded Age, so I watched it and was immediately captivated. I love history, and the HBO show is like an American history book come to life — with a side of Real Housewives thanks to its high fashion and even higher drama.

The Gilded Age season 3 continues the story of the socialites living the high life in the New York City of yore. After the fallout from the Opera War, the influential families continue vying for power and influence in an ever-changing world.

Though it’s historical fiction, The Gilded Age reminds us that people in that era weren’t so different from us. They’re all trying to figure out where they fit in an ever-changing world. — Sarabeth Pollock

Ironheart (June 24, Disney Plus)

The Ironheart trailer may not be getting a lot of love over on YouTube (for reasons I won't comment on), but it’s a series on my radar this summer. Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams was thrilling to watchin her Marvel debut, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She’s the legacy of Tony Stark’s Iron Man, broaching hero status from a completely different perspective for a variety of reasons, which can add a fresh take in the MCU.

Also adding to my excitement is Anthony Ramos starring in the series as The Hood. Ramos has grown to be a bonafide star in Hollywood, having appeared in In the Heights, Hamilton and She’s Gotta Have It. So my interest is piqued in how Ramos will portray the MCU villain. — Terrell Smith

The Bear season 4 (June 25, FX on Hulu)

By the time that The Bear season 4 premieres on Hulu it will have been a year since The Bear season 3, but somehow it’s felt longer as fans of the series have patiently been waiting to find out what the review for the restaurant says and how the personal and work relationships between our favorite group of chefs turn out.

The Bear dances on the line between comedy (I definitely feel there are some genuinely funny moments, most notably from the Fak family) and drama, but one thing remains true that this is one of the best shows on TV and is a must-watch whenever new episodes are available. — Michael Balderston

Smoke (June 27, Apple TV Plus)

As we’ve highlighted a few times on this list already, crime drama fans are going to have some good options to watch this summer. Another example is the new Apple TV Plus series Smoke, which stars Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollett as two investigators following in the footsteps of a pair of serial arsonists.

Best-selling author of Shutter Island, Mystic River and Gone Baby Gone, Dennis Lehane created Smoke, so at the minimum I have high hopes for the show’s writing. But Egerton has also quietly churned out consistently enjoyable projects, like Carry-On, Tetris and Black Bird. Can Smoke keep things going? — Michael Balderston

Squid Game season 3 (June 27, Netflix)

Squid Game season 3 will serve as the series’ last, so I’ll be glued to my screen, watching every episode, dubbed and all (don’t judge me for not soldiering through subtitles). I just have to know if Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) has what it takes to dismantle the deadly game.

In Squid Game season 2, the series ended with Seong pinned down and his team of rebels seemingly on their way to meet a deadly end. However, with a whole new rollout of episodes on the way, I have to believe they may find a way to survive. Plus, Seong still has his team on the outside working to find him, so perhaps a last-minute save will be in the works. — Terrell Smith

Nautilus (June 29, AMC)

I’ve never read Jules Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, but I’m very familiar with Disney’s version featuring Kirk Douglas. The Nautilus series was meant to premiere on Disney Plus, but the deal fell through and the series eventually landed at AMC.

Nautilus is the story of Captain Nemo (Shazad Latif) and his futuristic vessel, the Nautilus. He wants revenge against the tyrannical East India Mercantile Company who stole everything from him. As their former prisoner, the East India Mercantile Company wants the Indian Prince back in custody after he not only escapes prison but steals the Nautilus as well.

To be honest, I can’t even begin to imagine how this story will come to life as a series, but I’m very excited to see it. As a science fiction fan, Verne’s story is the cream of the crop and this could be the biggest surprise of the summer. — Sarabeth Pollock

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 (July 17, Paramount Plus)

After a musical episode that tore the house down in season 2, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 is set to up the ante with bigger and bolder adventures. There’s some unfinished business to be addressed in the new season after the crew of the USS Enterprise encountered one of the most feared alien species in the universe: the Gorn.

During a special sneak peek at San Diego Comic Con in 2024, fans were treated to a clip featuring several members of the crew transforming into Vulcans for an important mission. Pike (Anson Mount) is quick to point out that there will be 4.5 Vulcans on the mission, as Ethan Peck’s Spock is half human.

What I love about Strange New Worlds is how it’s a return to the story-of-the-week format as seen in other series in the franchise. As a lifelong Star Trek fan, I love how the show honors canon while charting its own course. — Sarabeth Pollock

Wednesday season 2 (August 6, Netflix)

Wednesday had me eating out its hand (no, not Thing’s) the moment I saw Jenna Ortega doing the now infamous dance. The inaugural season of the series was creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky, but best of all, it was entertaining. I completely understand why Ortega earned an Emmy and Golden Globe nomination for the role.

I’m expecting good things from Wednesday season 2, as rumor has it (from Netflix), more of the Addams family will be showcased, including Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) who becomes a student along with Wednesday at Nevermore Academy. I suspect it will be must-watch TV (well, streaming) to see the sibling dynamic play out in school, along with how Pugsly adjusts to his new classmates and “power.” Oh, and make way for Grandmama (Joanna Lumley) as she storms the show in season 2. — Terrell Smith

Alien: Earth (August 12, FX)

In space, no one can hear you scream. But on Earth, it’s a whole different matter. With Alien: Earth, for the first time we are getting a TV series based on the legendary sci-fi franchise Alien, and to cap it all out we are switching from the usual space location to our own planet.

Noah Hawley, the Emmy-winning creator of Fargo, is certainly going to bring his own spin to the franchise, but at its heart it seems that we’re also going a number of staples — an unsuspecting crew forced to reckon with one of the most perfect killing machines and, in the mold of Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley, a tough female lead (Sydney Chandler). — Michael Balderston

Dexter: Resurrection (TBD, Paramount Plus with Showtime)

At first there was Dexter, the story of the serial killer with a strict moral code. Then came various spinoffs and a prequel, but in Dexter: Resurrection the story continues with Michael C. Hall set to return to the titular role. Following the events of 2021’s Dexter: New Blood, Dexter is back, we think. It’s hard to say because all evidence pointed to his death at the end of New Blood, yet he’s supposedly coming back for more.

Not knowing is part of the allure. These days there is so much information about new shows and there’s not much known about Resurrection at all, aside from the fact that Hall is returning and so are original series stars David Zayas and James Remar. New Blood’s Jack Alcott will once again play Dexter’s son, Harrison.

For now I'm going to do a re-watch of the original series to get ready for the new show. It’s gory, humorous, sentimental and dramatic all rolled into one. I'm eager to see what happens as the franchise continues. — Sarabeth Pollock

In season 15, 18-year-old Vance Walker took home the big prize, becoming only the third person to win . Walker repeated with a victory in season 16, and he'll be back in season 17 to see if he can get the three-peat, once again facing off with competitors and a new bracket. Here's the premise for American Ninja Warrior season 17 from NBC:

American Ninja Warrior season 17 hosts

Comedian Matt Iseman (Clean House) and former pro-football player Akbar Gbajabiamila (Access Hollywood) return for another season, along with co-host Zuri Hall.

Iseman has been with the series for 16 seasons and Gbajabiamila is entering his 13th season. Season 17 marks Hall's seventh year with the show.

We don't have a trailer for American Ninja Warrior season 17 just yet, but we'll have it for you right here once it pops up.

From Scranton to Toledo, there's a lot to love about The Paper for fans of the mega-hit NBC comedy The Office. The Peacock original series is set in "the universe of The Office," only this time the documentary crew that followed the Dunder Mifflin team has their sight set on a small-town newspaper, the Toledo Truth-Teller, struggling to stay alive in the age of online media.

Though the setup is different, there will be at least one familiar face from the flagship series as Oscar Nuñez returns, only this time he's the accountant for the same documentary team that followed him around at Dunder Mifflin.

The spinoff was created by Greg Daniels (who created the US version of The Office) and Michael Koman (co-creator of Nathan for You). Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, who co-created the UK version of The Office, are also executive producers.

I'm guilty of being a reality TV buff. I’ve seen my fair share of unscripted shows, but I recently find myself taken with a brand-new Bravo series I stumbled across while looking through Peacock — Bravo's Love Hotel.

Now in full transparency, I knew the series was set to air this spring, so it wasn’t completely off my radar. However, between Love Island USA, Love Is Blind, Queens Court, Perfect Match and other dating shows, I kept thinking, "does the world really need one more?" Well, I’m here to say, the world needed Bravo’s Love Hotel.

The new series follows four Real Housewives cast members as they attempt to find love in the comforts of a breathtaking beach resort. Shannon Storms Beador (The Real Housewives of Orange County), Gizelle Bryant (The Real Housewives of Potomac), Ashley Darby (The Real Housewives of Potomac) and Luann de Lesseps (The Real Housewives of New York City) are all single and ready to mingle. It’s been a refreshing watch for a few reasons.

For starters, I enjoy the nuance of seeing divorcées date as they seem to have a better handle on what they should be avoiding and what qualities they should be prioritizing in a mate. It’s as if there’s this added level of maturity in the way they carry themselves in this reality TV setting that I can appreciate and respect.

Then there’s the sheer comedic factor, thanks primarily to Gizelle and Ashley. Say what you will about the duo’s antics on RHOP, and you can even fall in line behind those who critique some of the mess they find themselves in with their RHOP castmates, but on Bravo’s Love Hotel, they are funny. Their commentary about the dating pool, each other and their own desires in romance has gotten a number of laughs out of me. Their comments would classify as “fun shade” as they aren’t made to offend, but rather entertain.

While Luann’s remarks aren’t what I would call witty in the series, she too, adds humor just in the way she interacts with the gentleman suitors. Luann has a brazen way in how she approaches dating, which as a non-New Yorker, I was initially inclined to question, but I have come to find charming and comical.

Speaking of the gentleman suitors, I really am loving the fact that they allegedly don’t watch the Housewives franchises, so they seemingly have no preconceived notions about the reality stars. Now they’re all on a reality TV show, but the guys so far don’t come off as if they are chasing fame.

All in all, while many Bravo fans may find themselves fixated on The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 16, The Valley season 2 and other shows currently in the weekly lineup, Bravo’s Love Hotel is the best new show from the network, and actually, the best show currently airing on the network.

For those interested in tuning in, Bravo’s Love Hotel airs live on Sunday on Bravo, and becomes available to stream the next day on Peacock.

With Love Island USA season 6 serving as the best season of the show in our opinion, the hit summer series is back with Love Island USA season 7. Needless to say the new cast has some big shoes to fill.

Thankfully, the new contestants on the hunt for love (and the prize at the conclusion of the season) have Vanderpump Rules' Ariana Madix back to host and guide their experience.

Ariana Madix is returning to host season 7. Since the infamous Scandoval hit the fan, Madix’s stardom has risen to new heights. In addition to this hosting job, she was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars season 32, starred as Roxie Hart in the Broadway production of Chicago and had roles in TV and film.

As far as the OG Islanders joining a mix, check out this casting announcement from Peacock. We wonder if season 7 contestants will be able to hold a candle to the likes of season 6 winners Kordell and Serena, who we dubbed as two of the top reality TV stars of 2024.

The spinoff of the popular Queens Court series, the new show features some high-profile eligible bachelors in their quest for romance. With Hollywood supercouple Holly Robinson Peete and Rodney Peete guiding the experience as the co-hosts, viewers will have to watch and see if real love connections are formed.

Rodney is a former NFL player who got into the acting business, appearing in Why Did I Get Married Too? and Ballers. He's also hosted shows like NFL on Fox.

NBC is free to watch but you can also see the race on NBCSports.com and the NBC sports app. But there are other ways to watch online too.

You can stream NBC over the internet via a live TV streaming service including FuboTV, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV and YouTube TV.

Alternatively you can watch a live stream of the race on NBCUniversal's movie, TV and sports streaming service Peacock. A subscription costs at $7.99 but frequent Peacock deals can save you money.

Can you watch the 2025 Kentucky Derby in the UK?

The Kentucky Derby isn't set to be broadcast online or on TV in the UK.

Last year it aired on Sky Sports but it's absent from Sky's schedule this year. It's also not on any of the major TV channels' schedules or listed by Discovery Plus in its sports section.

How to watch the 2025 Kentucky Derby in Australia?

You can stream the 2025 Kentucky Open live from Australia by using the streaming service Kayo Sports.

The race itself will take place at 8:57 am AEST though it's likely that Kayo will show the pre-races in the hours leading up to the proper derby.

Where is the Kentucky Derby 2025?

The Kentucky Derby is held at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.

Steve Soderberg is hurting, but there’s something we can do to cheer him up: watch Black Bag now that it is available to stream on Peacock.

This won’t fix the fact that one of the best-reviewed movies of the year (and one we gave four stars in our official Black Bag review) has made a disappointing $21.4 million at the US box office — making it the 26th highest grossing movie of 2025 as of publication — and less than $40 million globally.

But what we can do is show Sodebergh and those in Hollywood that there is an interest in these types of well made, mid-budget movies that are more geared toward older audiences, even if it is after the fact. That may be something Soderbergh needs to hear right now after comments he gave in an interview to Business Insider.

“It’s not fun to spend a lot of time and effort on something that just occupies zero cultural real estate,” said Soderbergh. “That’s not why any filmmaker wants to make movies. You want as many people to see them as possible.”

Black Bag is an original script from Jurassic Park and Mission: Impossible writer David Koepp and stars Michael Fassbender, Cate Blanchett, Rege-Jean Page, Pierce Brosnan and more. The movie centers on Fassbender's spy George Woodhouse, who has to try and figure out if his wife (Blanchett), a fellow spy, betrayed her country before a catastrophic event occurs.

That seems like the exact kind of antidote to what so many people I hear complain about with the movies. It’s not based on any existing IP, it’s not simply geared toward a child or middle-brow audience. Heck, the movie isn’t even long — Soderbergh packs a fully effective, taut spy thriller into just over 90 minutes.

And again, this isn’t me stumping for a little publicized movie that had mixed reviews. This is a movie that had the backing of a big-name specialty distributor that is part of a larger studio, Focus Features, and its 96% “Certified Fresh” score from critics is among the best of the year, with a positive audience rating as well on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite all of that, Black Bag performed less than other 2025 new movies Flight Risk and Snow White at the box office, both of which were panned by critics.

We’re seeing time and time again that people are willing to go back to the movies. Sinners has become one of the biggest hits of the year and is rejuvenating moviegoers, which is perfect timing as we head into the 2025 blockbuster movie season. Like Soderbergh, though, I’m surprised that that same level of enthusiasm can’t be found for a movie as well-made as Black Bag.

If this continues to happen, as Soderbergh warns, it could spell doom for these mid-budget movies, which are often where filmmakers get to do some fun and different things (even Sinners was made for less than $100 million, less than typical Hollywood tentpoles in the superhero genre).

Again, at this point there’s nothing we can do to fix Black Bag’s box office performance. But this is where streaming can do what it does best — give an overlooked movie or TV show a second chance that shows we do want these type of projects.

Every May in the US, millions of people celebrate the remarkable accomplishments and contributions of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders during what is now officially called Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Although the momentous occasion was originally championed as a week as far back as 1977 and officially signed into law by President Jimmy Carter, it did not become a month-long celebration until President George H.W. Bush made the proclamation in 1992.

In our efforts to recognize the accomplishments of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders, we look to Hollywood. From a BAFTA nominee to some of the most-talked-about projects of the year, we compiled a list of seven performances from Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander leads that we think are worth watching, including some upcoming projects. Keep in mind, this list is compiled of new content that premiered between June 2024 and May 2025.

So without further ado, check out what we came up with.

Mo season 2 (Netflix)

Mo season 2 serves as the final season of a comedy we have nothing but good things to say about. Mo Amer is brilliant in the Netflix show as he tells the story of a Palestinian refugee in the US seeking American citizenship. While the topic at hand is poignant, he manages to add a heightened sense of levity that makes the series a must-watch.

Squid Game season 2 (Netflix)

Squid Game season 2 picks up where the phenomenon of season 1 left off. While the show's inaugural season is still our favorite, season 2 does enough at least to distinguish itself, while leaving us entertained. Setting itself apart wasn't exactly hard to do, as most of the show's original cast didn't survive the games the first go-around, but there are also new games at play that offer a nice twist.

All We Imagine as Light (rent on-demand)

Although a Grand Prize winner at the Cannes Film Festival, "Certified Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes with a perfect score and a BAFTA nominee, All We Imagine as Light likely flew under your radar. It's an Indian indie film about friendship and sisterhood, showing how one friend deals with a faraway spouse while courted by a doctor at the hospital where she works, one deals with a secret romance her parents won't approve of due to differing religions and another processes her recent eviction. The storylines intersecting provide for quite the relatable viewing experience.

Moana 2 (Disney Plus)

Moana 2 serves as the blockbuster sequel to the 2016 hit and achieved quite the cinematic feat when it ranked as the third highest-grossing film of 2024, according to IMDb's Box Office Mojo. It follows up on the adventures of Moana (voiced by Auliʻi Cravalho), as she has a new journey to embark on, which reunites her with demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson), who is on a journey of his own. All in all, their joint adventure makes for great family viewing on Disney Plus.

Laid (Peacock)

Stephanie Hsu has been taking Hollywood by storm with projects such as Everything Everywhere All at Once, Joy Ride and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Well, she's front and center in the hit new series Laid, which has a 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Based on the Australian version of the series, Peacock's Laid follows a single woman who has to retrace the steps of her sex life to warn her former partners that they may be in danger because of her. It's a nuanced plot in a comedy that's worth checking out.

Lilo & Stitch (in theaters May 23)

The animated movie Lilo & Stitch was a hit for Disney back in 2002, and 23 years later, the story of the young Hawaiian girl and the alien from outer space she adopts is back in a live-action adaptation. Premiering Memorial Day weekend, this updated version of Lilo & Stitch offers families a nice alternative to the adventure and thriller blockbusters hitting theaters that same weekend.

Karate Kid: Legends (in theaters May 30)

Over 41 years ago, The Karate Kid franchise fought its way into the fabric of cinema when Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) became a karate champion thanks to instruction from Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita). The original has spawned several sequels and even a series, and now Karate Kid: Legends gives another fresh spin on the classic story. While LaRusso is back in the new movie, front and center are Ben Wang as Li Fong and the incomparable Jackie Chan as Mr. Han. This should be a treat considering Chan is arguably the best martial artist/stuntman/filmmaker multi-hyphenate in recent memory.

Before The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 16 kicked off, my favorite person announced to be a part of the cast was the returning vet, Porsha Williams. Porsha has usually been a source of laughs amongst all the drama of reality TV. Although she’s not above arguing and shading some of her castmates, her natural comedic antics are what I remember most.

However, as the season 16 episodes continue to roll out, I can say Porsha isn’t the runaway star of the franchise. After eight weeks, I’m surprised to say that Angela Oakley is the star of the season, ironically thanks in part to Porsha’s antics (honorable mention to Shamea Morton).

Porsha and Angela have been clashing from the moment the group touched down in Nashville for Porsha’s birthday celebration. To be fair, I have to call Angela out for inviting Drew Sidora on Porsha’s trip, knowing Porsha and Drew are at odds. Angela may have had the good intentions of wanting to patch things up between the two women, but in terms of birthday trip decorum, Angela was out of order. But Porsha’s visceral response has felt entirely unwarranted, even calling Angela an "it" in a conversation with Shamea.

In The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 16 episode 8, “Boots on the Ground,” Porsha takes things to a place where they didn’t need to go. At her birthday dinner, Angela brings up the fact that Brit Eady mentioned that Porsha believes Angela has been playing victim in their back-and-forth. Shamea further clarifies that Porsha believes Angela is guilty of “gaslighting.” Angela calmly addresses Porsha directly, asking why Porsha feels gaslit, and Porsha passive-aggressively answers with “I don’t remember.” Angela tries her best to clear the air, but between Brit and Shamea taking up Porsha’s battle and Porsha ignoring the conversation, things go left.

Angela asks why she’s the only one “ever held accountable?” She then turns to Kelli and wonders if she ever got her response from Porsha, referencing when Kelli wanted to know “why did she [Porsha] take that woman’s husband?” As Angela sees it, Porsha was never held accountable for the issues surrounding her second marriage, and believes “the world” never got the answers.

Cynthia tries to break up the very tense moment at this point by suggesting the group move on. She questions if Porsha wants to address anything Angela said first, and Porsha responds, “No, I want Angela to kiss my a**.”

Fast forward to later, and Porsha, Brit, Shamea and Kelli have a late-night party at the pool. As Angela recaps, around 2:30 am, she was on the phone with her husband, retired NBA star Charles Oakley, and she heard her name. Angela alleges that Porsha was “inebriated” and she heard Porsha say, “I should f**k Charles.” According to Angela, the four ladies continue to talk about her, and in a move I can’t help but respect, she goes to the pool to confront the ladies (which is seen on camera). Porsha, in particular, claims she didn’t say anything about Angela or her husband.

Now in her confessional, when a producer questions Porsha directly if she talked about Angela or Charles at the pool, subtitles state Porsha replied, “I didn’t say anything, okay?” But if you ask me, it sounds like she said “I didn’t say hennything” ( a reference to Hennessy drink). Either way, Kelli in her confessional confirms that Porsha stated, "She [Angela] better stop before I f**k her husband."

When Andy Cohen subsequently asked Porsha about the comment on Watch Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Porsha laughingly states, "First off, all my public apologies, but I don’t know hennything.” She further goes on to say it was a “late-night kiki” and “she [Angela] wasn’t supposed to hear that.”

Considering all the turmoil that ensued surrounding Porsha’s engagement to her soon-to-be ex, I was stunned Porsha would make such a statement, even if it was perhaps in jest. Not only that, but I’m not a fan of anyone being trashed by a group of people when the person is within earshot of the gossip.

Kudos to Angela for not only confronting them, but also for being able to crack jokes about the whole ordeal in her confessional. Additionally, I applaud her for not putting on for the cameras when Kelli approached her, all smiles, the day after the pool incident. Angela bluntly told her she didn’t want to dabble in fake conversation. Judging by the following preview clip for the episode airing on May 4, Angela is going to further address the elephants in the room in a mighty shady, yet comical, way.

Outside of Angela's ability to go toe-to-toe with Porsha and address things head-on, I also appreciate her as a housewife because her storyline with her family appears real and relatable. Her dynamic with her husband is enjoyable to watch, especially as it appears he's not playing it up for the cameras. I love it when reality stars come off as authentic.
