Sarah Platt dumped Gary Windass when he went to the Ukraine to do well-paid yet extremely dangerous security work, even though she’d begged him not to go. Now he’s home in Coronation Street, but is their relationship back on?

“While Gary’s been away, Sarah’s not been able to switch off her feelings,” actress Tina O’Brien explained to Soaplife. "She just wants to know he’s safe…”

And she gets her wish when he turns up at her parents’ support group…

How does Sarah feel when Gary walks into the support group session? “She’s feeling really nervous, especially as everyone else seems to be with their partners. So when Gary walks in, she’s caught off guard. Initially, she’s quite frosty. But as she opens up about what happened to Bethany, she allows him to comfort her. She needs his support. Then, as he talks about how he feels about her, she realises she doesn’t want to be without him.”

How would Sarah feel if she knew Gary had come home covered in bruises? “Devastated. She said it was over when he left, but she can’t stop loving him. She’s been worried sick while he’s been away.”

How does she react when Gary’s then offered more work in the Ukraine? “When Gary tells her this and that he intends to accept, Sarah is gobsmacked. She hates him doing this work and she can’t accept his decision to go back. It puts a real strain on their relationship.”

Then he pushes her away when she suggests an afternoon lie-down… “Sarah’s really disappointed when Gary pulls away from her, but he makes an excuse about needing to spend some time with his son, Jake, and she accepts that. But as the days go on, his behaviour’s a bit strange. Sarah’s confused, but she tries to brush it off because she doesn’t want to spoil the time they have together.”

After everything that’s happened, how devastated would she be if things fell apart with Gary? “She’d be gutted. She’s been through a lot over the last few years, but come out fighting, and her relationship with Gary is one positive that’s come from it all. He’s been there for her when she’s needed him and I think they genuinely love each other. But I don’t know how much more Sarah can take if Gary keeps accepting this highly dangerous work.”

"Sarah’s heartbroken, especially as deep down she always instinctively felt the relationship wasn’t right," Corrie actress Tina O’Brien tells Soaplife. "But she pushed that to one side because she didn’t want to lose Bethany." Now Sarah’s desperate to save her daughter…

What’s Sarah’s initial plan to fix this situation? “Sarah’s at a loss about what to do,  this is not a black and white situation. Sarah and Gary try to get through the reality of things to Bethany.”

Does she listen? “No. She won’t listen to them. She keeps defending Nathan’s actions as she’s so blinded by what she thinks is love. It’s frustrating and terrifying for Sarah to see her daughter this way.”

What happens when policeman Neil comes to the house? “At this point, Sarah thinks Bethany and Nathan have split, so she’s pleased Bethany looks like she is finally opening up to someone when Neil comes to the house. She’s not suspicious because Neil’s in police uniform.”

How does Sarah react when she finds Bethany looking for her passport? “It completely throws her. She was so relieved when it looked like Bethany was making a breakthrough, so she has no idea where this sudden change in her has come from.”

Can you talk us through the scene where Sarah finds Bethany about to self-harm? “Audrey spots the burn mark on Bethany’s arm and tries to comfort her, saying that Nathan will soon be a distant memory. But later Sarah finds Bethany trying to burn her other arm with a cigarette as she thinks she has let Nathan down. It then dawns on Sarah just how deep Nathan has drawn Bethany into his web.”

Does she blame herself? “Definitely. She feels she hasn’t protected Bethany and she’s failed as a mother.”

Does Sarah have any idea how Nathan has been using her daughter? “None. It’s not something that would cross her mind. Sarah just thinks Bethany [Lucy Fallon] is just trying to fit in with much older people. Sarah would be totally horrified if she knew the truth.”

How does she get Bethany home? “She calls Gary [Mikey North] and asks him to quickly come to the flat to help. Thankfully he does.”

What happens next? “They’re back at the Platts’ when Bethany comes round. She’s deeply distressed when she realises where she is. She tries to make a run for it and, when Gary blocks her way, she starts breaking things, then...”

How does Sarah react to this? “It is terrifying for Sarah to see her daughter in this state and she does start to wonder if Bethany is scared of Nathan [Chris Harper]."

Is Sarah scared of Nathan? “Sarah’s is not scared for herself, but she is scared about what is going to happen to Bethany as she’s clearly under his spell. She doesn’t like Nathan, but she has no idea just how dangerous he really is.”

What is the best course of action that Sarah can take? “Tough love. Sarah should try and keep Bethany under lock and key, but she has sort of tried that – and now it’s has gone horribly wrong, she is at a total loss.”

It’s not often that Sarah Platt’s lost for words. But finally meeting Nathan Curtis leaves her temporarily speechless. “Sarah knew Bethany’s boyfriend was older because Rana Nazir told her,” Tina O’Brien tells Soaplife. ‘But she presumed it was just by a few years! Now it’s immediately clear to Sarah that Nathan is older than she is!”

This meeting happens after Sarah invites him around, right? “Yes. She wants to find out who Nathan [Christopher Harper] is and what he’s about because Bethany hasn’t said much about him. By inviting him over for tea, she thinks she can be nosy and possibly take control of the situation better. The fact that Bethany is keeping so quiet about this new boyfriend makes Sarah very suspicious.”

And then she meets him… “And while she’s shocked and thinking, ‘But he’s so much older than Bethany’, she tries to bluff her way through it. She feels the second she starts to question Nathan in front of Bethany [Lucy Fallon], it will make Bethany want to leave. Sarah feels that if she can let Bethany think everything is all right, then maybe Bethany will see for herself that this relationship is not a good thing for her. Sarah thinks by doing it this way she’s more likely to keep her daughter close to her. She’s desperate to not push Bethany away.

Is this anything like Sarah’s “internet grooming” story in 2001? “There are similarities in that the man Sarah went to meet was also a lot older. She sees this as different, though, because Bethany’s been bullied, treated badly in the past and has low self-esteem. She knows an older man showering Bethany with attention flatters her ego.”

And what about Sarah’s relationship with Gary? “She hasn’t really had this kind of happiness before and it’s nice for her to now have somebody who really cares about her after she had so much drama with Callum Logan. I’d happily have that continue because I love working with Mikey [North, who plays Gary].

How does Sarah react when she finds out Gary knew about the diet pills? “She goes absolutely mad. She does not handle the situation very well and knows she could have thought things through. It’s clear that things are not good between them any more.”

Gary’s ex Izzy says Sarah should give him a second chance… What does Sarah think about this? “At first Sarah is confused about why Izzy is getting involved. Sarah is very wary of her motives, but Izzy tries to reassure her that she just wants to see Gary happy.”

Can Sarah forgive him? “I think so, but I don't know whether there is a future for them romantically speaking. The talk with Izzy makes Sarah realise that she has handled the situation badly, but it also makes her realise that she needs to focus more on her children.

So where does that leave Gary? "Sarah resolves to put any idea of romance with Gary on the shelf. The situation with Bethany has been so upsetting, she just wants to be a better mum.”

Would you like Sarah to have a boyfriend? “At first I was like ‘Nooooo!’ I thought Sarah was better on her own because there are always complications. But now I think she needs to feel safe and it would be lovely for her to have someone to confide in.”

Are you looking forward to a fresh start for Sarah now? “Yes, it is great to see Sarah building herself back up, getting on with life and being involved with her family.”

Why is Todd convinced Sarah killed Callum? “Sarah really wasn’t well at all when she initially spoke to Todd [Bruno Langley] about Callum. So, while she never said outright that she killed Callum, a lot of what she said could easily have been interpreted the wrong way. She can’t believe that Todd thinks she’s a killer, though and tells him she isn’t.”

And then Todd immediately thinks David must be the killer. Why? “He jumps to a natural conclusion. If it wasn’t Sarah but Sarah knew all about it, then Todd assumes it must have been David [Jack P Shepherd]. Todd also knows what David is like. Todd just gets lost in the fury of it all and, once he has it in his head that it was David, he can’t see past it.”

So Sarah tells Todd the truth? “His behaviour forces her to. On the day of Kylie’s funeral, Todd is like a dog with a bone. He follows David and Sarah to the house after the funeral and he just won’t stop getting at David, accusing him of killing Callum [Sean Ward] and telling him that Jason [Ryan Thomas] left because he believed his father, Tony [Terence Maynard], was a murderer.”

Is that what forces Sarah to intervene? “Sarah’s worried what this might do to David and she knows he’d never betray Kylie [Paula Lane] by telling Todd the truth. Sarah can’t take it and, in a blind panic, she blurts it out.”

How does she feel afterwards? “Part of her feels like a weight has been lifted, while the other half of her feels incredibly guilty because it was Kylie who saved her from Callum. She also panics, thinking Todd will go to the police and land them all in it. Sarah knows the family wouldn’t be able to take any more blows.”

What does Todd do? “For so long, he thought it was Sarah, then David. Killer Kylie never crossed his mind so he’s completely stunned. They beg him not to go to the police, but Todd refuses to make any promises. He thinks he needs to do what is right.”

How does Sarah come into contact with Lee? “Sarah’s in a bad place over Callum [Sean Ward] and desperate to find Billy [Daniel Brocklebank] and speak to him. So when Lee tells her he’s going to see him, she agrees to go along. Obviously, she doesn’t know Lee’s planning to hold her hostage until her family and friends stump up some cash for his drug habit.”

Does Lee realise the state she’s in? “Almost immediately. He sees she has many issues and she’s fixated on Callum.”

What happens next? “Lee [Richard Crehan] tells her Callum’s still alive and he’s out to get her. He abuses the situation and her vulnerability, but it backfires because Sarah completely believes him and she goes ballistic. She tries to escape because she truly believes Callum is coming.”

Who rescues her? “David [Jack P Shepherd] and Billy find her. It seems Lee called Billy and demanded ransom money in exchange for Sarah. David’s really worried about the police becoming involved or any kind of medical intervention for Sarah because she might reveal what really happened to Callum.”

David saves Sarah from Lee… But who can save Sarah from herself?

But she is taken to hospital… “Yes. And the psychiatrist says her psychotic episodes are down to a body being discovered in the house, Harry’s recent birth and a lack of sleep. She needs to stay in hospital and get treatment.”

How does Sarah react? “She acknowledges she needs to get better. A massive week of Coronation Street starts tonight with Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) out to ruin Carla and Nick’s wedding and continues nightly, ending on Thursday with David and Kylie getting a visit from the police. Has Sarah (Tina O’Brien) finally cracked?

Corrie fans are expecting Carla’s wedding to provide the fireworks this week, when she joins Nick (Ben Price) at the altar and says, “I have to tell you something”, instead of “I do”.

But the big explosion comes after that, when Callum Logan’s rotting body is finally found under the floor of Gail’s (Helen Worth) granny flat.

We’re not going to give away how that shocking discovery is made – but you won’t want to miss it.

David (Jack P Shepherd) and Kylie (Paula Lane) will be running scared – but Sarah is frozen with fear.

She is such a mess that Todd (Bruno Langley) gets very worried about her and sits her down for a talk, gently asking what exactly happened on that fateful night.

Then Sarah leans close and whispers her confession in his ear.

Todd is horrified by what Sarah has told him. But what will he do with what he knows?

Corrie’s Sarah is even more convinced her baby is the work of the devil when he won’t stop crying at his Christening, Tina O’Brien tells Soaplife.

Sarah has rushed the Christening because she thinks it will exorcise the evil from Harry, right?

“Yes. She’s had no sleep, all these crazy thoughts are racing through her brain and she gets fixated with thinking that if she gets the baby baptised, then everything will be all right and they’ll all be able to move forward.”

What does Billy the vicar think?

“He’s worried about her because he can see things really aren’t right with her. Billy [Daniel Brocklebank] and Sarah do have a real connection.”

So what happens at the Christening?

“Sarah has a meltdown because Harry won’t stop crying. They’re at the font and Billy is putting water on the baby’s head and it makes Harry scream even more. In Sarah’s mind, if being Christened doesn’t stop Harry crying then he really must be Callum [Sean Ward] reincarnated. Sarah quickly thrusts Harry into godfather Nick’s arms and runs from the church, sobbing her heart out.”

And?

“Billy comes looking for her and she tells him how she wanted it all to be perfect. There are many unsaid things, though. Billy tries to talk to her and seems to calm her down, but I don’t know if she actually takes in what he says. Maybe she’ll start thinking straight after a good night’s sleep, then again maybe she won’t.”

Has Sarah thought about what she’ll tell Harry about his father?

“There’s a lot of denial going on, but I think she’s hoping that she’ll be able to tell him what everyone else thinks has happened to him – that he went off somewhere before he was born and never came back.”

Why is Sarah so scared when she goes into labour early?

“Billy, the baby boy she had with Todd [Bruno Langley], was premature and he died. Ironically she’s with Todd when she goes into labour, but she’s in massive denial because she’s so scared and tries to convince herself that the baby’s not coming.”

But it is and Sarah needs a Caesarean, which upsets her more. Why?

“The baby’s in distress so doctors advise it, but Sarah’s against it because she had Billy by Caesarean. If she has to have this baby the same way, she’s sure it’ll all go wrong and the baby will die. She’s just got it in her head that something is going to go wrong. It’s almost like a defence mechanism. She’s preparing herself for the worst possible scenario.”

How supportive is Todd?

“He’s amazing, he’s the one that gets her through the C-section, which she eventually agrees to have. Kylie [Paula Lane] is meant to be her birthing partner but she’s busy elsewhere so Todd is really the one to talk her through it. He tells her this isn’t Billy but a different situation.”

What’s her reaction when she sees her baby for the first time?

“She’s madly in love with him straight away. Initially, she really didn’t want a baby at all, but when she had the scare where she couldn’t feel him move, it hit home how much she wanted him. It isn’t the baby she has a problem with - it’s Callum [Sean Ward].”

How does she feel when Marion, Callum’s mum, turns up?

“Sarah goes nuts. Seeing Marion [Susan Cookson] brings back the last time she saw Callum. She becomes very territorial over the baby and doesn’t want Marion anywhere near her or her son.”

How is she coping with Callum’s death?

“Having the baby really brings Callum’s death home to her. Now she has this baby it’s a constant reminder that it’s never going to be all right and it’s never going to go away.”

Well, Callum Logan is alive according to his little wannabe gangster moll Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) in Friday night’s (March 11) episode.

No wonder David (Jack P Shepherd), Kylie and Sarah looked confused. As far as they’re concerned, Kylie's ex, Callum, father of Max, is rotting in the drain under Gail’s granny flat.

But Gemma – or Gemini, as she’s now calling herself – reckons Callum (Sean Ward) will be “very interested” to hear that Sarah’s about to have his baby.

She says she won’t tell him, though, if they let her have a job in Audrey’s salon.

“Are you trying to blackmail us?” David asked.

“I don’t want to, but I need this job,” Gemma explained, sweetly.

“No chance,” David stated, flatly.

So Gemma got out her phone.

“What are you doing?” Kylie asked her.

“I’m calling Callum,” Gemma replied.

Well, they had no answer to that, unless Kylie wanted to say: “You can’t because he’s dead. I know, I killed him.”

And Kylie definitely didn’t want to say that.

David and Kylie are convinced Callum is buried under the floor of Gail's granny flat

“Either you let me stay or I tell him everything,” Gemma continued.

“All right then, go on, ring him,” David told her.

And she did! But she said the call went to voicemail.

Kylie, David and Sarah (Tina O'Brien) don’t believe Gemma but think it will be useful to have her around, saying Callum’s alive. So she gets her job.

But…what if Callum really is alive?

We've just seen EastEnders' Claudette Hubbard (Ellen Thomas) claw her way out of the makeshift grave her son Vincent (Richard Blackwood) made for her in the floor of his cellar conversion, when he thought she was dead.

What if Callum got out of that drain before Gary (Mikey North) cemented over it?

He could have… and he could have gone into hiding. Remember, drug dealer Callum owed a lot of money to some very nasty people and was running scared.

If Callum’s alive and finds out Sarah’s about to have his baby… Well, that might just bring him out of hiding – and bring a whole lot more terror to the Platt family.

Callum terrorised Sarah once – will he return to do it again?

We know Kylie actress Paula Lane is leaving Corrie… Will Callum come back and get his revenge by killing Kylie – and taking their son, Max, along with Sarah's baby?

Later in the week, Kylie becomes suspicious of Sarah, who is clearly in turmoil. Worried that Sarah is on the verge of revealing the truth about Callum's murder, Kylie rifles through Sarah's handbag in an attempt to find clues about her sister-in-law's state of mind… 

…And when Kylie finds the name of an abortion clinic, will Sarah tell her the truth? And can she persuade Kylie to keep her pregnancy secret from David?

Coronation Street star Tina O’Brien tells Soaplife how Sarah Platt discovers she’s carrying Callum’s baby - and what she plans to do about it...

Sarah seems like her old, happy-go-lucky self when she returns to Weatherfield after taking time out in Milan to come to terms with Callum’s violent death and unconventional burial. But that doesn’t last long. Brother David taunts her to see if she really can live with what they’ve done and, soon, that ‘C’ word is all she can think about.

In fact she’s so preoccupied with the-body-under-the-annexe problem, she gets herself mown down by a Tim (Joe Duttine) in his van!

“Sarah’s very drunk and leaves the pub with David, but doesn’t look where she’s going and gets knocked over by Tim in his van,” Tina reveals. Weatherfield General check her over and tell her she’s OK – but they also tell her she’s pregnant…

Right… First off, why is David pushing Sarah?

“He’s very suspicious of how calm she seems on her return from Milan, and senses it’s all an act. So he makes her go into the annexe. Once there, she starts cracking up again and David [Jack P Shepherd] says he knew all along she couldn’t handle it. Kylie is a bit more understanding and sticks up for her.”

Kylie doesn’t stick up for David, though… She wonder if he pushed Sarah in front of Tim’s van, doesn’t she?

“Kylie [Paula Lane] isn’t convinced that David had nothing to do with the accident because of the way he’s been behaving towards both her and Sarah since Callum was killed. David didn’t push Sarah, though.”

So what do the hospital tell Sarah after her accident?

“That she’s fine – and so is her baby! Her initial reaction is ‘What baby?’ Then it sinks in. She’s pregnant! Sarah obviously knows the baby is Callum’s and she’s devastated – as well as feeling shocked and foolish. It’s horrendous for her.”

Will she have the baby?

“She’s completely torn. Sarah considers the idea of having a reminder of Callum with her every single day and having to live with what’s happened even more than she already has to. She’d have to lie to her unborn child for its entire life as well and doesn’t know whether she’d be able to do that.”

Oh no! It seems that Callum Logan (Sean Ward) isn’t totally dead and buried under the floor of Gail’s granny flat.

In a shock twist, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) is reportedly going to discover she’s pregnant by Callum - the man who drugged her, blackmailed her and was trying to kill her when Kylie (Paula Lane) killed him.

That’s not happy news for the Platt family. Sarah has already been to the police station, desperate to confess to everything that’s happened with Callum. Kylie got to her before she could say anything, though.

No one stopped Sarah talking to vicar Billy (Daniel Brocklebank), though… And she left Billy in no doubt that Callum was a thoroughly nasty piece of work. She just didn’t tell him that Callum’s dead.

On Monday, viewers will see David (Jack P Shepherd) so desperate to keep Sarah quiet that he tells her he will tell the police that she killed Callum if she doesn’t keep her mouth shut.

But Sarah’s not the only one terrified and crumbling under the pressure of keeping that secret. Kylie is also finding it increasingly hard to live with what she did.

What will they do now?

“Sarah will be left with a heartbreaking dilemma,” an ITV source reportedly told the Manchester Evening News. “Will she keep Callum’s baby? Could she learn to love a baby that is Callum’s or will she decide she has to terminate the pregnancy?

“The decision threatens to tear the Platt family apart.”

New pictures released of Sean Ward and Tina O’Brien in rehearsal offer a sneak peek into the opening scenes for the soap’s highly anticipated live episode, celebrating 60 years of ITV.

Sarah lures the drug dealer to the Platts’ house by sending a message from sister-in-law Kylie’s phone, telling him they are ready to pay the £20,000 blackmail money he has demanded.

Sarah hopes to bring an end to Callum’s hold over the family by recording everything he says to take to the police as evidence.

But Callum sees through her scheme and things take a sinister turn.

These are some of the opening scenes to the hour-long live episode which will screen at 7.30pm on Wednesday, September 23.

The episode will feature the culmination of Callum’s reign of terror over the Platt family, along with Lloyd Mullaney and Andrea Beckett’s leaving party in the Rovers, Roy Cropper and Cathy Matthews’ getting closer and Tim Metcalfe finding out about Sally Webster’s secret kiss with her ex Kevin.

After the episode, Stephen Mulhern will interview the cast as they come off air and reveal behind-the-scenes secrets, in a special show screening on ITV2 at 10pm.

When a gun comes into play, Coronation Street’s Sarah finally sees Callum for the dangerous thug he really is, Tina O’Brien tells Soaplife.

Sarah has resisted all efforts by Kylie (Paula Lane) and David (Jack P Shepherd) to convince her that Callum is mad, bad and dangerous to know. But she can’t ignore the ugly truth about her lover when his young son, Max, finds a gun at Callum’s flat.

“Initially, Sarah thinks it’s a toy… but the look on Callum’s face tells her it’s the real thing,” says Tina.

How scared is Sarah when she realises the gun is real?

“She’s petrified. Callum [Sean Ward] gets the gun off Max, but he’s really nonchalant about it, making out it’s not that big a deal. He accuses Sarah of being over-dramatic.”

But she doesn’t buy his Mr Cool act, does she?

“Sarah can’t believe Callum can be so blasé, but it makes her realise that all this is normal to him. It’s a big realisation for Sarah. She tells Callum, ‘This might be the world you live in, but it’s not mine’. She dumps him there and then.”

Bet he doesn’t like that…

“He’s quite nasty and makes it very clear that Sarah didn’t mean as much to him as she thought she did. He tells her she was just a bit of fun and that he was using her to get Max back because it would look good in the courts.”

Ouch! How does Sarah feel?

“That tops off a really terrible afternoon for Sarah. Before Callum arrived at the flat, his sidekick, Gemma [Dolly-Rose Campbell], had turned up and she’d been beaten black and blue. That was frightening, especially when Gemma hinted she knew secrets about Bethany and Callum.”

And they’re secrets Callum gleefully reveals to her, aren’t they?

“It’s awful. Sarah’s really frightened for herself and her daughter. Callum’s very controlling, manipulative and nasty - he’s got pictures of Bethany [Lucy Fallon] with drugs and wants to use them against Sarah. For the first time, she sees the side to him that everyone’s warned her about.” 

Is she aware of Bethany’s attachment to Callum?

“She hasn’t got a clue. Callum tells Sarah he hasn’t laid a finger on Bethany. He really plays it down. But Sarah doesn’t know what’s been going on behind closed doors, or how Bethany feels about Callum.”

Is Sarah brave enough to stand up to Callum?

“That’s a hard one! She knows he’s got a gun so he’s capable of doing bad things. I think she wants to stand up to him, but she’s very concerned about her daughter. This is why she decides not to tell her family the reason why she’s finished with Callum or what he’s done.”

Will she regret that?

“She’s worried sick about some harm coming to Bethany. Sarah’s in a quandary as to how to handle the situation, but her priority is making sure Bethany stays away from Callum.”

Sarah falls even deeper in lust with Callum on Coronation Street – and she remains oblivious to his evil scheming, warns Tina O’Brien…

Sarah Platt’s so loved-up with Callum Logan that she’s blind to his bad lad side. But when Kylie has a quiet word, Sarah’s forced to open her eyes.

“Kylie tells Sarah that Callum is very bad news and, while everyone’s been saying that, she does believe her sister-in-law – even though she’s jealous of her - because she knows Kylie’s quite straight,” Tina tells Soaplife.

Sarah decides to put Callum to the test, but the consequences are more far-reaching than she can ever have imagined…

So Sarah’s fallen head over heels for Callum?

“Yeah. She’s really fallen for his charm, he’s very persuasive and he seems to really like her. She needs that in her life right now.”

How does she feel about Kylie being back on the scene?

“Sarah’s jealous of her – Kylie [Paula Lane] and Callum [Sean Ward] have history and I think she secretly knows Callum had a real thing for Kylie.”

What happens when Sarah questions Callum over what Kylie’s told her?

“Kylie manages to convince Sarah that Callum’s using her. She confronts him about it, saying, ‘Look, I’ve been told this’. But it really backfires on Sarah because Callum goes off the deep end and he dumps her. He’s very manipulative and Sarah plays right into his hands. She’s gutted and decides she wants to return to Italy. She feels like there’s nothing for her in Weatherfield now Callum’s finished with her. She’s like, ‘Why am I even here? Let’s go home!’”

That’s not what Bethany wants, though…

“Bethany’s horrified at the thought of them returning to Italy. That’s how Bethany [Lucy Fallon] gets mixed up with Callum. Sarah would blame herself if she knew.”

Do Sarah and Callum get back together?

"Yes. For now… But then Kylie and David [Jack P Shepherd] decide to spring a trap on Callum in the hope Sarah will see him for what he is and Sarah gets dragged to the Dog & Gun…”

What’s the plan?

“Sarah’s meant to think something’s happening between them, but Callum’s already figured what Kylie’s trying to do. Callum says, ‘Look, they tried to trick you, they’re here to try and get you to dump me’. Sarah obviously believes him, and she tells them to get out.”

So the plan backfires?

“If anything, it moves Sarah closer to Callum. The fact her family seem to be conspiring against her, for whatever reason, just pushes her further into his arms.”

Where should Sarah’s loyalties lie?

“With her family, but unfortunately Sarah’s enveloped in a big lust bubble. She’s still unaware just how dark Callum can be…”

Sarah and Callum are busted when Nick catches them kissing around the back of the Rovers. “Nick [Ben Price] forces Sarah to tell him what’s going on and Sarah’s gutted because she doesn’t want to label it as something before it’s even taken off,” Tina says. “Plus she wants to tell people in her own time.”

Is Callum (Sean Ward) just a welcome distraction for Sarah?

“Initially, he was a distraction and a bit of fun. She’s a bit disappointed to be staying in Weatherfield and Callum takes her mind off that. But he’s also charismatic and charming. He’s picked up on how Sarah works and that she likes attention, so she quickly comes round to his winning ways!”

Doesn’t she realise how bad he is?

“David [Jack P Shepherd] has told her Callum’s really bad news, but Sarah just brushes it off and assumes he’s not as bad as he’s made out to be and that people don’t know him like she does. She thinks there’s another side to him and she can change him. You’d think she’d be older and wiser by now.”

How does David react?

“He’s totally gutted and he sees it as a betrayal. Of all the people she could go out with, why does it have to be Callum? But in Sarah’s head, she thinks they could all play happy families!”

Who does she think Max should be with?

“She’s really torn. She’s trying to be neutral for David but her head has been turned by Callum. He’s given her the whole speech about how much he cares for his son and she’s definitely smitten with him.”

Back as Sarah Platt, Coronation Street’s Tina O’Brien talks to Soaplife about on-screen kissing and off-screen motherhood...

It’s hard to believe you had a baby a few months ago.

“Oh, I can believe it! I’m carrying a bit of a mummy tummy still – there’s no way I’m back in shape. My little boy Beau was born last October so I’m a mum of two now. My daughter Scarlett is six.”

Your partner Adam’s a personal trainer. Does he make you do sit-ups all the time?

“I’d kill him if he did! But he does give me exercises if I ask him.”

How are you juggling work and being a mum?

“It really is a juggle – as it is for every working mum. Scarlett is at school and she also spends time with her dad (Coronation Street co-star Ryan Thomas, who plays Jason). Adam’s working hours are flexible and he’s doing most of the baby care at the moment, including night feeds when I have an early start.”

Are you still running your kids’ drama group as well?

“Absolutely! I love working with children. The Drama Mob is auditioning for a production of Matilda we’re putting on soon.”

Does Scarlett want to be an actress?

“She wants to be a singer – at least she does at the moment. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if she ended up acting, though. It’s what I do, her dad does and also her uncle, Ryan’s brother Adam [Thomas, who plays Adam Barton in Emmerdale].

Has Corrie changed much since you left in 2007?

“We’re on a different set – which is much better than the old one, by the way. During one of my first scenes in the Platts, it felt strangely normal.”

Sarah gets passionate with Sean, doesn’t she?

“Yes, and I’m very happy. Sean [Ward, who plays Callum] is so nice. I was nervous about doing snogging scenes again, but that’s been fine, too. I imagine there’s a lot of women out there who’d like to be in my shoes!

Coronation Street’s Sean Ward tells Soaplife how Callum and Sarah get together - and how he delivers a huge shock to David about Max...

Callum Logan has made David’s life a misery - and now he’s found a way to get to the whole Platt family: Sarah.

“He really fancies her and they flirt from the get-go,” Sean tells Soaplife. “But discovering Sarah is David’s sister is the icing on the cake. It will be a great way of winding David up.”

Yeah - that and announcing he’s taking his fight for Max to court!

How do Callum and Sarah (Tina O’Brien) hook up?

“The Platts are in the Bistro when Callum arrives. He hears Sarah’s having problems with her computer and offers his help. They go back to David’s house and, well, you can imagine what happens next!”

The Platts don’t know they’re together, do they?

“No, but David [Jack P Shepherd] is suspicious. He has more to worry about, though, when Callum suddenly announces the mediation sessions about Max are over and that he’ll see David in court.”

Why?
