Gogglebox, Channel 4, 9 pm

Our favourite couch potatoes are back to give us their opinion on the latest TV and, we hope, an update on everything else. Has Lee used any more of Jenny’s face cream as a dip? Has Daniella been drinking out of a plant pot again? We don’t yet know what they’ll be watching, but we’ll hazard a guess that it could include Parenthood, Dating Naked or The Great British Bake Off 2025.

The Paper, Sky Max and Sky Showcase, 9 pm

This sequel to the US version of The Office follows the fortunes of the once mighty Ohio newspaper the Toledo Truth Teller, now a shadow of its former self. Under the temporary stewardship of the website’s managing editor, clickbait queen Esmeralda Grand (Sabrina Impacciatore), the print edition has languished, its pages filled with irrelevant celebrity stories bought in from agencies. Newly installed editor-in-chief Ned Sampson (Domhnall Gleeson) has a bold, idealistic vision to restore the paper to its glory days – but with no money to make it happen, can he turn his beleaguered admin staff into scoop-hungry reporters?

Here We Go, BBC1, 9 pm

The Jessops are on their way to baby Atlas’ baptism, but godfather Paul (Jim Howick) has got a dodgy tummy and, according to Sue (Alison Steadman), ‘has that poorly dog smell’. Amy (Freya Parks), meanwhile, is preparing to play at the Bedford Battle of the Bands and is hopefully putting her crisis behind her, but her bandmate is worried that having septuagenarian Sue as their devoted No 1 fan sends the wrong message. It all works out in the end, but there are some highly embarrassing moments along the way… This has been another great series and the Jessops are turning into one of our favourite sitcom families.

Bake Off: An Extra Slice, Channel 4, 8 pm

Following Tuesday’s first episode of The Great British Bake Off 2025 series, Jo Brand and Tom Allen are back with the highly entertaining sister show. Hassan joins them - the first baker to leave the series - and Jonathan Ross is on the panel.

The Morning Show, Apple TV Plus

While Apple TV Plus shows such as Slow Horses, Severance and Ted Lasso get a lot of love, The Morning Show always seems to have less of a buzz around it. But the award-winning series about a news network based in New York has A-list stars in Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, plus a terrific supporting cast including Billy Crudup and Jon Hamm. It also has engaging storylines, which can admittedly occasionally require you to suspend your disbelief – but so do lots of great dramas. Judge for yourself ahead of Season 4, which lands on September 17, and will hopefully resolve that cliffhanger at the end of Season 3…

Saving Lives at Sea, BBC2, 8 pm

What this programme is so good at is highlighting how every search and rescue puts the lives of the RNLI volunteers in danger as much as those in peril. Tonight’s first call-out is a beyond-the-call-of-duty case, as the Portaferry crew set out to find two lost kayakers. They’re in a blow-up boat, have drifted south from Strangford Lough, with its 10m swirls and standing waves – ‘like pulling the bath plug’ says sailing coach Rusty – and there’s a 60mph wind. Then the Coastguard confirms one casualty is in the water… There are also cautionary tales about going for a night swim and understanding how quickly the tide can come in, as well as a Mayday – the most urgent distress call a lifeboat station can receive.

Atomic, Sky Atlantic and Sky Showcase

After the shoot-’em-ups and car chases of last week’s double bill, this third episode takes a more contemplative tone as Max and JJ head to a destroyed Palmyra in Syria to return the statue. Hot on their heels is CIA agent Elliott, who has been unexpectedly joined by her former colleague Ellis (Brian Gleeson), whom she views as more of a hindrance than a help. And the sands are shifting as to which characters we think we can trust…

The Dog House, Channel 4, 8 pm

On our second visit to the Woodgreen Pets Charity, we meet Fox, an abandoned Pomeranian who was found wandering alone in a field. She needs TLC, so could she be just the new addition a family has been longing for? Cheeky Coconut has energy to burn, but will he prove too much of a live wire for blind boxer Narla when he’s paired up with her for a pooch play date? As ever with this heart-warming series, it’s the stories of the prospective pet owners and their excitement at meeting new pup pals that endear as much as the four-legged stars themselves, so when dog-lovers Rev Alex and Carrie get acquainted with an adorable bundle of love called Mushy, you’ll be hoping for an ending to match the name!

The Thursday Murder Club, Netflix

The eagerly awaited film adaptation of Richard Osman’s debut novel –about residents of a retirement village who look into cold case murders as a hobby, then find themselves investigating a real-life killing – is finally here. The success of the best-selling book alone would have made it a must-see, but the cast and crew involved also happen to be first-class, with Home Alone and Harry Potter director Chris Columbus at the helm and stars including Dame Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan – who wouldn’t want Jane Tennison and James Bond on the case?! The cast also includes Celia Imrie, Sir Ben Kingsley, Daniel Mays and Richard E Grant.

Atomic, Sky Atlantic and Sky Showcase, 9 pm

The heat is on in this five-part thriller set across North Africa and the Middle East. After drug smuggler Max (Alfie Allen) is hijacked by the mysterious JJ (Shazad Latif) while crossing the desert, the odd couple find themselves desperate for money and with only each other to rely on. Deciding to complete a job for Max’s boss, the pair aren’t aware that the antiquities they’re transporting are filled with uranium – to be used as a nuclear bomb. And there are plenty of people out to stop them, including undercover CIA agent Cassie Elliott (Samira Wiley).

New Lives in the Wild, 5, 9 pm

Ben Fogle travels to northern Thailand to meet Yidan, who, like many others, was inspired by Covid-19 to change her life. Originally from China, the 34-year-old left a high-flying city career to build a rural life from scratch on a farm, where she looks after animals and grows her own food. As always, Ben gets down to practicalities, helping her in the rice field and constructing bamboo poles for crops, but he also finds his creative side by making clay sculptures. To Ben’s surprise, unlike many of the people he meets in remote places, Yidan wants to share her way of life with others and uses social media to encourage people to join her.

My Life with the Walter Boys season 2, Netflix

Nikki Rodriguez is back as Jackie Howard for a second series of the teen drama. After spending the summer in New York, Jackie returns to Colorado, determined to repair her relationship with Alex after kissing Cole. But finding her place within the Walter family isn’t easy, especially as Alex is a changed man and Cole is slipping back into his old ways.

Sky has finally dropped a trailer for The Iris Affair, which is the thriller I'm most excited about coming out in the autumn.

A big plus is that it stars Tom Hollander, who gave a standout performance in the superb thriller The Night Manager alongside Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie. Hollander is also known for The White Lotus and Rev.

Another plus is The Iris Affair has been created by Neil Cross, the man behind the hit BBC1 series Luther. Set on the Sardinian coast, the series follows Iris Nixon (Mary & George's Niamh Algar), who steals a mysterious code from a charming philanthropist (Hollander). She must use her wits to lie low and rely on her intelligence to survive an increasingly deadly game of hide and seek.

The 45-second trailer, just released by Sky below and set to the background of "My Favourite Game" by The Cardigans, illustrates that the drama will look beautiful.

Teasing the plot, the makers say: "When enigmatic genius Iris Nixon (Algar) cracks a string of complex online puzzles, she's led to a piazza in Florence where she meets charismatic entrepreneur Cameron Beck (Hollander). He invites her to come and work for him to unlock a powerful and top-secret piece of technology. Her curiosity piqued, she accepts. But when Iris discovers its dangerous potential, she steals the journal containing the device’s activation sequence—and vanishes.

"What follows is a relentless pursuit, from a remote cabin in Sardinia through the bustling streets of Rome, as Cameron races to find Iris in a high-stakes game where trust is dangerous and failure could be catastrophic.”

Writer and showrunner Neil Cross previously said: "All I wanted to do was to make a show I wanted to watch. Iris is an unapologetically exciting, witty, chase-driven adventure show and features a lead character the like of which I don't think we've ever met before on TV.

"With Niamh Algar and Tom Hollander bringing these complex characters to life, coupled with Terry McDonough's direction, I couldn't be more excited to share this world and these characters.”

There's a superb season of Autumn TV playing out for the rest of 2025. It's an important time for telly fans after the summer holidays are over and they focus on what great television is in store during the Fall and run-up to Christmas.

It's the time of year where all channels give us their major output and Autumn 2025 sees many wonderful new TV shows starting, all with top stars, but also returning favourites, brand new crime thrillers, period dramas and everything in between.

Riot Women (BBC One and BBC iPlayer)

The six-parter Riot Women is by Happy Valley and Gentleman Jack writer Sally Wainwright follows a group of spirited middle-aged Yorkshire women who form a punk-rock band for a local talent contest. As their musical endeavours give them all a new lease of life, a revelation comes to the fore causes huge trouble. Lorraine Ashbourne, Joanna Scanlan, Amelia Bullmore, Rosalie Craig and Tamsin Greig play the band members. Do also look out for veteran stars Anne Reid and Sue Johnston.

I Fought The Law (ITV1 and ITVX)

Sheridan Smith stars in I Fought The Law, which is an emotional four-part drama based on the true story of Ann Ming, who campaigned to change the Double Jeopardy law, which had prevented someone from being tried twice for the same crime, following her daughter’s brutal murder. Julie, 22, had gone missing in November 1989 in Billingham, Cleveland, and her body was found hidden under the bath in her home.

Her murderer, William Dunlop, was wrongfully acquitted but, years later, confessed to the crime. Thanks to Ann’s tireless campaigning, the 800-year-old legislation was overturned and Dunlop was jailed for life. Daniel York Loh plays Anne’s late husband Charlie Ming.

The Guest (BBC One and BBC iPlayer)

Torchwood and Keeping Faith star Eve Myles plays business owner Fran, who recruits Ria (Gabrielle Creevy) as a cleaner in four-part thriller The Guest. The duo become friends when Fran helps Ria to decide what she really wants from life, but things go wrong after Fran’s advice leads to a devastating incident and the women are drawn into a chilling plot. Emun Elliott and Sion Daniel Young co-star.

Trespasses (Channel 4)

Set in 1975 against the turbulent backdrop of all the Troubles in Northern Ireland, this four-parter follows star-crossed lovers Cushla (Lola Petticrew), a spirited Catholic schoolteacher, and Michael (Tom Cullen), a controversial married barrister, as they embark on a passionate but dangerous liaison. Gillian Anderson plays Cushla’s eccentric mother, Gina.

The Forsytes (5)

Based on the classic Forsyte Saga novels by John Galsworthy, six-part period drama The Forsytes is set in the late Victorian era and follows the lives a well-to-do family of stockbrokers, as they wrestle with who’ll take over the family firm. Joshua Orpin plays Soames Forsyte and Millie Gibson is his dancer bride Irene (see pictured above), while Francesca Annis is matriarch Ann, alongside a strong supporting cast that includes Stephen Moyer, Tuppence Middleton, Eleanor Tomlinson and Jack Davenport.

King & Conqueror (BBC One and BBCIplayer)

This epic eight-part period drama King & Conqueror follows the Norman conquest of Britain, one of the most decisive historical events in our history, after the infamous Battle of Hastings in 1066. Harold of Wessex (James Norton) and William of Normandy (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) began as allies but ended up bitter enemies as they fought for control of the British throne. Emily Beecham plays Edith Swan Neck, the wife of Harold while Clémence Poésy is William’s wife, Matilda. Eddie Marsan, Claire Holman, Juliet Stevenson, Joseph Mawle, Elliot Cowan and Jean-Marc Barr also star.

The Death of Bunny Munro (Sky Atlantic and NOW)

The Death of Bunny Munro is a drama starring former Doctor Who star Matt Smith, which is based on Nick Cave's book about a father/son road trip. After the suicide of his wife Libby, sex addict and lothario Bunny finds himself the sole carer of his nine-year-old son Bunny Junior (Rafael Mathé), with very little idea of how to parent.

As the pair embark on a road trip across southern England, Bunny Junior starts to unravel as a result of his grief. Both are dealing with their grief in very different ways. While older Bunny tries to bed every woman he can, Bunny Junior spends his time talking to his mother’s ghost and trying to distract himself from the fact his dad is a chaotic mess. As Bunny Junior starts to spiral, Bunny realises he must do something to rescue his son from his own outdated notions of what it is to be a man.

Coldwater (ITV1 and ITVX)

Coldwater sees Andrew Lincoln play John, a stay-at-home dad struggling to cope when a violent incident in a playground leaves him so troubled that he and wife Fiona (Indira Varma) decide to move their family to the (fictional) titular Scottish village to start over. But things get even more complicated in this six-part thriller when John bonds with charismatic neighbour Tommy (Ewen Bremner) who is hiding some very dark secrets…

Murder Before Evensong (5)

Murder Before Evensong is based on the debut novel Murder Before Evensong by the Reverend Richard Coles and is a six-part whodunnit series. Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis plays crime-solving cleric Canon Daniel Clement, while Amanda Redman as his nonsense mother, Audrey.

The Woman in Cabin 10 (Netflix)

Based on the bestseller The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware this one-off thriller follows a journalist, played by Keira Knightley (above), who is given the travel assignment of a lifetime when she's asked to cover the maiden voyage of a luxury cruise liner, which then sets sail. Then, late one night, she witnesses a passenger tossed overboard and tries to raise the alarm. However, she is told she must have dreamed it because all passengers are safe and accounted for.

Yet despite no one believing her, she continues to search for the truth, even if it means putting her own life in danger. Other stars include Hollywood star Guy Pearce, Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham, Ajala, Gitte Witt, Art Malik, Daniel Ings, David Morrissey, Christopher Rygh, Paul Kaye, Kaya Scodelario, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, John Macmillan, Pippa Bennett-Warner and Ayọ̀ Owóyẹmi-Peters.

Down Cemetery Road (Apple TV Plus)

Adapted from the 2003 novel Down Cemetery Road by Mick Herron, who is also the author of Slow Horses, this eight-episode thriller stars Ruth Wilson as Sarah Tucker, who asks private eye Zoë Boehm (Dame Emma Thompson) to help find a child she suspects has vanished in Oxford, UK, but a complex conspiracy unfolds.

* Down Cemetery Road launches on Apple TV Plus on October 29 2025.

Atomic (Sky Atlantic)

Atomic is an intense five-part thriller stars Alfie Allen as drug-smuggler Max and mysterious Mohammed (Shazad Latif) who find themselves flung together and caught up in a sinister terrorist plot to steal uranium to build an atomic weapon. The pair must decide whether to save themselves or save humanity and must also avoid CIA agent Cassie Elliot (played by Samira Wiley) who is hot on their heels.

The Thursday Murder Club (Netflix)

The movie adaptation of Richard Osman’s 2020 novel The Thursday Murder Club boasts a killer cast as four pensioners-turned-amateur sleuths create cosy chaos in their retirement village. Ex-spy Elizabeth (Dame Helen Mirren), former union activist Ron (Pierce Brosnan), retired psychiatrist Ibrahim (Sir Ben Kingsley) and ex-nurse Joyce (Celia Imrie) meet weekly to discuss cold cases. But when a murder occurs on their doorstep, the quirky quartet becomes embroiled in a real whodunnit. David Tennant, Richard E. Grant, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie and Tom Ellis star, while Harry Potter’s Chris Columbus directs. ‘It’s a dream to see this book in such incredible hands,’ says Osman. ‘What a cast! I’m pinching myself.’

The White Lotus season 3 sees a new batch of ultra-wealthy guests heading to a luxury hotel on the sunny shores of Koh Samui in Thailand.

But, once again, they're about to see their trip of a lifetime descend into a living nightmare as the series opened with a flash-forward where we see at least one character meet a grisly end.

The holidaymakers this time include successful businessman Timothy and his family, while actor Jaclyn has brought her two best friends to the resort for a much-needed girls' catch-up. Then there is free spirit Chelsea, who arrives with her tetchy boyfriend Rick. But as each resort guest finds their holiday thrown off course, who will make it home from the vacation in one piece?

Here is everything that happens in The White Lotus season 3 episode 8...

The final episode of the third season opens with Piper and Lachlan waking up at the Buddhist retreat while Tim is back at the hotel taking more of Victoria's medication. In Bangkok, Rick wakes up in his hotel room after sleeping on a chair, while Frank has been partying all night and is well and truly off the wagon. Frank tries to stop Rick from leaving, but when more women arrive at the hotel suite, Rick makes a hasty exit.

At the hotel, Mook and Gaitok arrive for work and it's the morning after their date. He tells her that he knows who was responsible for the robbery and Mook is happy, knowing that if he helps catch the thieves, then it could help him get a promotion at work.

Jaclyn finds Kate and asks if she has seen Laurie that morning, but she is still sleeping after the eventful evening the night before. Jaclyn goes to wake Laurie and appologises for sleeping with Valentin as she didn't know Laurie cared so much, not realising what Laurie went through the previous evening.

Lachlan and Piper leave the retreat and he has decided he wants to move to Thailand with her, but she doesn't let on that she has changed her mind about moving. They get back to the hotel and Victoria is desperate to know how they got on, hoping it was awful... However, neither Piper or Lachlan want to talk about it and head off to get ready for breakfast.

Belinda and Zion are having breakfast when Pornchai comes over and Belinda introduces him to her son. Belinda explains that Pornchai wants to go into business, but neither of them has the cash - and Zion is quick to remind her that Gary's cash would be the answer to all her problems. She is adamant that it wouldn't be enough anyway and she doesn't want the blood money - but Zion is adamant that she should negotiate with Gary and get him to up his $100,000 offer to £1 million.

At breakfast, Tim is telling Piper he is happy she has realised she can live a simpler life and that they could all do with having a bit less while Victoria shoots him daggers from across the table. But Piper doesn't seem convinced and says the food was bland and not organic, and there wasn't any air conditioning. She says she feels awful for needing these things and cries becasue she can't help being a princess - while Tim looks on, horrified. Victoria is thrilled, telling her daughter that she doesn't have to prove anything and that Piper is right; they are very lucky, but they should just enjoy what they have, otherwise it is offensive to people who don't have what they have.

Back in their room, Saxon can barely look at Lachlan. Lachlan asks what he has done wrong, and Saxon reminds him of what happened between them at the boat party and Lachlan tells him he thought he looked left out and he is a pleaser, so he thought he was doing the right thing... Saxon doesn't want to talk about it and tells his brother to drop it. Forever.

Gaitok calls his boss and leaves a voicemail telling him that he knows it is his day off, but he has something important to tell him. Valentin comes over and says he looked for Gaitok and Mook after the fight but he couldn't find them. Gaitok asks what Valentin's friends are called and he fobs him off, telling Gaitok that they are just men from his gym.

Saxon finds Chloe and Chelsea on the beach and he tells Chelsea that he has read her book on meditation - while they are talking Chelsea sees Rick walking down the beach towards her and she runs to him, throwing herself into his arms and they have sweet reunion, where even Rick seems pleeased to be reunited with Chelsea. She asks him how it went and he tells her he didn't kill anyone and that he said what he had to say and got the monkey off his back, and she is happy for him.

Now that Piper has realized she is just as materialistic as everyone else in her family, a thrilled Victoria takes her to the resort store and encourages her to spend lots of money as Tim watches on, horrified. Eventually, he goes back to the room and finds Lachlan there, reading. He asks his youngest if he could live without money, and he thinks for a moment and says yes, which pleases Tim. He encourages him to go for a swim or to the beach as it is their last day, and Tim is left once again alone with his own thoughts.

Valentin confronts Gaitok and tells him he knows that he has worked out it was his friends who robbed the resort. He begs him not to report him as he will be deported and be killed when he gets back to his country. He says that reporting him is the same as killing him, but before Gaitok can respond, Fabian interrupts him and asks if he can get Jaclyn to agree to a photo with the Hollingers tomorrow when they return from Bangkok.

Tim goes to the tree in their suite that has poisonous fruit and picks one, but before he can eat it Pam arrives to return their phones as their holiday is almost over. Tim is adamant that he doesn't want them back, and she just assumes that he has enjoyed the break from technology and says she will put them on the boat that takes them back to the airport and he agrees. He asks her about the tree and the fruit and she says the locals call it the suicide tree becasue people who want to kill themselves grind the seeds and eat them. Once she has gone, he picks the fruit and tears it open.

Zion and Belinda go to see Gary to ask for more money and Zion goes into full business mode, launching into a speech about how Gary's initial offer wasn't enough, while Belinda sits there silently, terrified. Gary isn't impressed with Zion, especially when he asks for $5 million. Gary says it isn't happening, but Zion says that he has done his research and knows how much Tanya was worth and that surely $5 million is worth the peace of mind knowing that Belinda won't say anything about how Tanya died. Belinda looks like she has had enough and storms out, with Zion following behind, wondering why she walked out of the meeting when he was so close to closing the deal. Zion follows his mom and questions what she is doing, and realizes that it was all an act and that she wants Gary to realize that she is a threat to his future and tells Zion to get back in there and close the deal.

In his room, Tim gets all the poisonous seeds and blends them in Saxon's blender, but instead of eating them straight away, he hides them in the kitchen cupboard.

Mook goes to see Gaitok at the end of her shift and realises something is wrong... he tells her he has to quit his job becasue he isn't meant to be a guard. She tells him that he has worked hard to get to where he is now and that he would have to start at the bottom somewhere else. Mook clearly wants a successful boyfriend and tells him that she isn't sure she can make dinner tonight and when he asks when they can rearrange it for, she tells him she will think about it.

The Ratliff family head to dinner and as they order, Tim tells the waitress that it is their last night and he wants to make Piña Coladas in their room later and that they have the blender but could they deliver the ingredients to their room. She agrees and Victirua is surprised at Tim's new-found enthusiasm. Lachlan asks if he can have a Piña Colada later, but Tim says no as he isn't 21.

Laurie goes to dinner with Jaclyn and Kate and tells them what happened with Alexi - but while she is talking, Valentin comes and interrupts and asks about the photo that Sritala would like with Jaclyn. She agrees and then things are awkward, so he leaves.

Belinda says she is too nervous to eat because Zion failed to close the deal with Gary. He is going to think about the offer and while Zion thinks that perhaps Gary could be wiring the cash to Belinda's account right now, she thinks her son is delusional.

Rick and Chelsea have dinner tgoether and she says she is pleased to have him back and that she thinks they are going to be together forever, and this time, instead of fobbing her off or being mean, Rick tells her 'that's the plan' and she is shocked and silently thrilled that he seems happy at last.

At dinner Kate and Jaclyn are both talking about what a brilliant holiday they have and that they've been on cloud nine being with true friends, but Laurie disagrees and says that she has felt sad all week and that being with her old friends has made her question her life choices. She adds that she loves them dearly and wouldn't be without them, and the three women all cry.

Back in their room, Tim makes Piña Coladas in the blender - he pours out four, one for each of his family members who have said that they couldn't live without their wealth - Victoria, Saxon and Piper - but doesn't let Lachlan have any, telling him he should get a Coke. Tim claims it is becasue he is underage, but it is really becasue he told his dad earlier in the day that he could live without their money.

Tim makes a speech, telling his family that they have had a perfect life and that he loves them all. Saxon says the Piña Colada tastes weird, but Tim just claims it is a bit strong, that's all. As he watches his family drink he realizes the enormity of what he is doing and swats the glass out of Saxon's hand and tells them all that the coconut milk must be off as he pours the cocktails down the sink. Victoria says they should have wine instead. We then see the blender with some of the poisonous crushed up seeds in it has been left on the side of the bar.

The next morning, Sritala and Jim return to the hotel and Gaitok tells his boss that he isn't cut out for this job - but Pee Lek tells him he is a good worker and tells him to think about what he is about to say and that they will talk later.

Belinda checks her bank account and can't believe it when she sees she is $5 million better off. She tells Zion that she has checked with the bank and it is real and that she has booked him a treatment at the spa and then they are leaving as she wants to be as far away from Gary as she can possibly be.

Lachlan makes a protein shake in the blender without cleaning it out and soon collapses next to the pool while Tim sleeps and Saxon, Victoria and Piper go to breakfast. Lachlan is sick into the pool and then lies down all alone, and we see that he feels like he is drowning as underwater shots show him struggling to breathe. At the same time, Tim wakes and realises someone has used the blender before seeing Lachlan lying by the pool. He races out and grabs his son, yelling for help as he cradles his limp body in his lap.

Rick runs into Jim at breakfast and Jim is furious seeing him at the hotel and tells him he needs to leave. He tells Rick that his mother was a liar and that she has painted his father to be a hero, when he was anything but. Rick steps towards Jim, intending to hurt him, but he shows he has a gun on him and Rick walks away and back to Chelsea who asks him what is wrong. She is shocked to see that he is back at square one and once again haunted by his past. Before they know what is happening, Jim's bodyguards are chasing after Rick and he and Chelsea panic. Rick goes to find Amrita, saying he desperately needs to talk to her, but she has a session with Zion and says she will come and find him in an hour.

As Sritala and Jim have their photo taken with Jaclyn, Rick's demons return and he is consumed with hatred for what Jim has done. Despite Chelsea trying to stop him, Rick runs up to Jim, grabs his gun from inside his jacket and shoots him twice in his chest. Sritala yells at him as Jim lays in her lap dying, asking Rick why he shot Jim. He tells her it is revenge for him killing his father, and to his horror, she yells back that he IS his father. Soon, a gun fight gets underway with the Hollingers' bodyguards shooting at Rick, however, he manages to avoid their shots and kills them both.

As the gun fight is happening, Gaitok hears the shots from the security gate and grabs the gun before racing to where the gun fight is playing out between Rick and the security guards. As everyone dives for cover, Rick turns around and finds Chelsea lying on the ground, having been shot in the chest. He is beside himself with grief, telling her that she is going to be okay and that he is sorry as she dies in his arms.

Rick picks Chelsea's body up, telling her that they are going to be together forever, just like she said, as Gaitok finds Sritala with Jim and she yells at him to kill Rick as he is walking away with Chelsea in his arms. It takes Gaitok a little while to gather his courage, and then, with Sritala shouting at him, he shoots Rick twice in the back, killing him and causing him and Chelsea to fall into the water.

Meanwhile. Lachlan suddenly wakes up after eating the poisoned fruit and Tim is over the moon, relieved that his son is going to be okay and they have been given a second chance. He cradles him in his arms and kisses his head, relieved he is still alive.

Elsewhere, Belinda, now a multimillionaire, goes to see Pornchai and tells him that she is leaving and that as her situation has changed, she needs time to get her head straight. He asks about the business they were going to start together, and she says it might happen, but not yet... basically doing to him what Tanya did to her all those years ago.

As the episode comes to a close, we see the boat taking Tim and his family to the airport. Saxon is a changed man now reading a self-help book, while Lachlan looks a little worse for wear but alive. Victoria gets their phones back and hands them out to everyone, and Tim realises this is the moment they are going to find out about his money laundering. He tells them all that he loves them and that family is all that matters - as they all look at him, stunned as their phones ping into life and reality hits.

In another part of the boat, Kate, Laurie and Jaclyn are also heading home, and they hug each other after their holiday came to a traumatic ending with Jim being shot in front of them.

Back at Gary's house, we see Chloe chatting up a man at a party, and she is clearly trying to recruit him to act out Gary's sexual fantasy where he watches her have sex with someone else after Saxon turned her down. Gary is still the king of the castle, sitting in his huge house and although he might be $5 million lighter after paying to keep Belinda quiet, he looks like he might have just gotten away with Tanya's death.

The very end of the epsiode sees Valentin and his friends all partying with a new group of women, seemingly having gotten away with the robbery, while Frank is back on the wagon and finding religion again.

Gaitok and Mook hug as he leaves, this time in plain clothes - his security uniform long gone - as he has now been promoted to be Sritala's bodyguard after proving himself when he shot Rick. As he drives off with Sritala, Mook watches on proudly.

Finally, two body bags containing Chelsea and Rick are loaded onto a plane as Belinda and Zion head home on a very fancy boat. As Belinda waves goodbye to the hotel staff, we see Pornchai waving her off with a sad look in his eye as she speeds off into the sunset.

Here is everything that happens in The White Lotus season 3 episode 7...

The penultimate episode opens with Rick and Frank at Sritala and Jim's house. Frank makes small talk about being a movie director, bluffing his way through all her questions about the film he is making. Frank asks for a herbal tea, while Rick is on the whiskey. But when the chat about the movie gets awkward because Frank has no idea what he is talking about, he decides to break his sober streak and asks for a whiskey like Rick.

The episode then moves to the retreat, where Lachlan and Piper are listening to a class about the dangers of violence by the lead monk. As he is talking about how everyone has the capacity for violence, it is just how we use it, we see Gaitok collecting Mook for their date, and then Tim back in his hotel room where he is taking more of Vicotia's tablets.

Saxon is ready for Chloe and Gary's party, and Victoria isn't happy about going becasue she doesn't like 'the boat people', and Tim doesn't really have a say in things as he is totally spaced out on drugs. Eventually, Victoria agrees to go, but only because she is all dolled up.

Over in Belinda's room she is in a panic about what Gary (or Greg as she knows him) wants from her. She doesn't want to go to the party, but Zion thinks they should go to see what Gary's agenda is.

Laurie, Kate and Jaclyn arrive at the resort restaurant for dinner and the atmosphere between Jaclyn and Laurie is still tense. They order wine and sit in silence until it arrives.

Back at Sritala's house, Frank is still struggling with his pretend role as a film director, and Rick, who has been virtually silent until now, says he would love to speak with Jim in another room about how he became a successful businessman in Thailand. In Jim's office, he and Rick talk, and while Jim isn't looking, Rick checks the gun in his pocket.

At Chloe's party she welcomes Saxon and his parents in, asking where Lachlan is. Saxon explains that he is at a Buddhist retreat, while Victoria tells her it is a cult. As Tim heads to the bar, Saxon ditches his parents and finds Chelsea. He asks her why she is with Rick, and she explains they are soulmates and that his sadness touches her and makes her want to heal him.

As Belinda turns up at the party, Gary is pleased to see she is there. Meanwhile, Piper and Lachlan are at the retreat having dinner, but the meal is so bad that Lachlan has to force it down, much to Piper's horror.

Mook and Gaitok are on their date and it all seems to be going well until he tells her that he won't be getting a promotion at the hotel because his boss thinks he is soft and doesn't have a killer instinct. Mook is surprised and it's awkward when she tells him that she thought he was more ambitious and wanted a better job.

Fabian is preparing for his first performance at the hotel while Laurie and Jacklyn start arguing over Valentin again. As they are fighting, Kate gets involved and says that Laurie is always disappointed with her life but blames other people, which she takes offence to. She calls Jaclyn vain and Kate fake before heading out for the evening on her own, leaving the others sitting in shock in the restaurant.

Gary corners Belinda at the party and asks her for a private chat. She tries to get Zion to come too, but Gary insists it is just the two of them. Gary says he knows that Belinda remembers who he is and claims to have had nothing to do with Tanya's death. He says he is happy in Thailand and wants to spend the rest of his life there, so he is going to give Belinda the $100,000 that Tanya should have given her to start the business as she promised. He says it is what Tanya would have wanted, but she knows it is blackmail and tells him that she will need to sleep on it.

Saxon has realised there is something wrong with his dad. Tim fobs him off, claiming he has just had too much to drink, but Saxon knows it is something more and asks if everything is okay at work. Tim says all is fine and is shocked when Saxon says that his whole career is tied to his father's and without it he is nothing, putting even more pressure on an already drowning Tim.

Rick and Jim continue their chat and eventually, Rick gets to the point where he tells a confused Jim that he ruined his life by killing his father. Jim has no recollection of Rick's father, but Rick pulls out a gun and looks like he is about to shoot him. In the end, Rick changes his mind and instead tips the old man out of his chair before racing out of the house, taking a bemused Frank with him.

At the boxing fight, which has been playing out between scenes throughout the episode, Mook and Gaitok are watching as part of their date. She points out that fighting is just human nature and he just smiles.

Lauire is also at the fight with Valentin and soon his friends from the other night arrive. Across from the other side of the boxing ring, Gaitok sees Valentin and his friends and realizes they were the ones who robbed the resort shop at gunpoint a few days ago. In a flashback, Gaitok remembers it was Valentin who distracted him while the security barrier was up as the car that the gunmen were in went through.

Back at the retreat, Piper asks Lachlan what he thinks about her coming to live here, and he says he likes it and wants to come with her. He tells her he doesn't want to go home, and although she has no idea it is because of what happened with Saxon at the full moon party, she is surprised and not as excited as Lachlan thought she would be, which confuses him. Little does he know, his sister is having second thoughts about moving there.

At Gary's party, Saxon is chatting with Chelsea and Chloe. Chelsea says she is going to go home, and Saxon offers to walk her back, but Chloe says he can't leave as Gary doesn't want him to. She says she and Gary have had a big talk about his past and he has shared his darkest sexual fantasies with her. She says he dreams of watching other people have sex and he wants Saxon to sleep with Chloe so that he can watch. Saxon is horrified by the whole thing, despite the fact Chloe tries to make out that it is totally normal, and he makes his excuses to leave. As they are talking, Gary is watching their whole conversation from afar.

Back in Bangkok, Rick tells Frank about what happened with Jim and explains that he was just a frail old man and he couldn't bring himself to hit him, let alone use the gun. He puts the gun in a bin and they head into town to party.

Back at the resort, Belinda tells Zion about the money that Gary offered her, and he says she should take it. But she says she can't because it would make her an accessory to murder.

In their hotel room, Kate is worrying that Laurie isn't replying to her texts. Meanwhile, Saxon walks Chelsea home and tells her he wants to be a better person so she teaches him how to meditate. But while they are having their lesson, he tries it on with her again, and she tells him to leave, throwing meditation books at him as he goes.

Back in Victoria and Tim's room, Victoria is praying before bed asking Jesus to make sure Piper has an awful time at the retreat so she doesn't want to move there... meanwhile, Laurie is having sex with Valentin's friend and afterwards he tells her about how he needs money to get his sick mother into Thailand. He asks her for $10,000 and she is shocked and tries to make excuses about why she can't wire him the money. As they are talking, a woman comes to his door and starts yelling at him. Laurie has to quickly get dressed and hide in a back room, and when she does, she sees lots of jewels hidden. In the end, she has to escape out the window as the woman sees her and hits her as she falls from the window ledge. She runs off as the man shouts after her to come back. After walking for a while, she gets a taxi.

In Bangkok, Rick and Frank are partying, and Frank has well and truly fallen off the wagon. He is drinking again, taking drugs, and has invited loads of women back to his room. But Rick isn't in the party mood and doesn't get involved.

With Victoria asleep, Tim is having flashbacks to killing himself, and also Victoria and now Saxon, too. But when he goes to get the gun, he is shocked to find it gone, not realizing that Gaitok stole it back.

The sixth episode opens with Tim standing in his hotel apartment in the early morning with a gun in his hand. He takes the gun and shoots himself in the head. Victoria wakes when she hears the gunshot and finds him dead on the floor and her screaming wakes Piper, who comes in and finds her dad on the floor and her mum covered in his blood. Thankfully it is all just in Tim's imagination as he sits and contemplates taking his own life, and he is very much still alive. Instead, he puts the gun in a dresser drawer and takes some more of Victoria's medication, before getting into bed beside her. Victoria thinks he is unable to sleep becasue he is thinking about Piper moving to a Thai meditation centre, oblivious to the utter turmoil he is going through over his money laundering.

Over at Kate, Laurie and Jaclyn's suite, Kate is taking an early morning phone call when she sees Valentin sneaking out of Jaclyn's room.

On the boat, it's the morning after the night before for Saxon, who is having flashbacks about the evening before and we see that Lachlan lost his virginity to Chloe - and that she also slept with Saxon, too.

In Belinda's room, she and Pornchai are waking up after spending the night together just as her son, Zion, arrives early from his flight and catches them in bed together. Zion finds the whole thing funny and gives his mom a minute to get decent.

Gaitok arrives at work and panics when his boss tells him they should go to the shooting range today to learn how to use the new gun. He pretends he doesn't know the gun is missing and agrees to meet his boss at the end of his shift.

Chloe has an argument with Gary on the phone, he is cross that she took the boat and accuses her of hooking up with someone else. After hanging up, she admits to Chelsea that she slept with both brothers and needs to bribe the deckhands so that they don't tell Gary what she has been up to.

Chelsea calls Rick and she asks if he went out the night before, but he tells her the friend he met up with, Frank, is sober so it wasn't a very eventful night. Meanwhile, Saxon is looking full of regret after the night before as he remembers enjoying watching Lachlan having sex with Chloe - revisiting the incest theme that the show has been hinting at since the beginning of the season. Lachlan admits that he can't remember a thing that happened, but Saxon remembers too much and has to rush to be sick after flashbacks of kissing his brother.

At breakfast, Kate tells Laurie about Valentin sneaking out of Jaclyn's room and Laurie is clearly upset by the whole thing, although she pretends not to be. Jaclyn is in her room talking to her boyfriend on the phone, while Kate tells Laurie she's sorry she told her and she thought she would find the whole thing funny. Laurie tries to pretend she isn't bothered as Valentin comes up to the table and asks how they are both feeling and the atmosphere is awkward.

Belinda and Zion have breakfast and he is laughing about his mom hooking up with Pornchai. As they talk Fabian comes to see if Belinda is feeling better about things today, meaning Gary, and she says no. He invites her to come and watch him sing at the restaurant that evening, and she says she will try to be there.

Saxon and Lachlan arrive back at the hotel after their epic night of partying - both looking worse for wear. Victoria says that she, Tim and Piper are going to the meditation centre as they want to check it isn't a cult, and Piper begs Lachlan to come too so he can be on her side. He heads off to get changed and Saxon, head full of last night, can't look him straight in the eye.

As Chloe gets home, Gary gives her the cold shoulder and asks which of the brothers she slept with. She denies it and he tells her to invite them over that evening. She asks if it is a party and he just says 'I need to deal with something, and I need your help.'

Belinda goes to work and sees Pornchai, he apologizes for making things awkward with her son, but she tells him she wanted him to say and is glad he did. Pornchai says he remembers her saying she has always dreamed of opening her own spa and he asks if she would like to go into business together. She agrees to talk about it later and seems happy with where things are going.

In Bangkok, Rick meets Sritala Hollinger and she asks where his movie producer friend is. He fobs her off, telling her that he likes her but wants to meet her at her house instead of a restaurant and she agrees but tells Rick that her husband is at her house and he isn't well, which is music to his ears.

At the meditation centre, Piper meets the Buddhist monk whose books she has been reading, and she is honoured to be in his presence. She asks him to meet with her parents as she thinks he can answer their questions better than she can, but when she goes to get them, only Tim can be found, as - much to Piper's horror - Victoria is wandering around the centre trying to find out if the place is a cult.

Back at the hotel, Gaitok is trying to get into Tim's suite so that he can find the gun when Mook catches up with him. She asks if they are still on for their date that night, but he says he has to go to the shooting range with Pee Lek first, and she is impressed when he tells her they have given him a gun - he just keeps the fact he has lost it to himself!

Meanwhile, Saxon finds Chelsea at the pool and she asks why he seems freaked out. He covers up his whole attraction to Lachlan and tells her he doesn't understand why she wouldn't hook up with him the night before. She says it is becasue she has a boyfriend, Rick is her soulmate and tells Saxon that he is soulless, which leaves him quiet for once.

Tim meets with the Buddhist monk and says he doesn't understand why Piper would want to come and live at the meditation centre. After asking questions about Piper, Tim asks the monk what he thinks happens when you die. The monk gives a beautiful speech about death being a welcome return and like coming home, and it is clear that Tim is given lots to think about.

At the pool, Laurie confronts Jaclyn about sleeping with Valentin and she denies anything happened, which only infuriates Laurie more. Kate tries to keep the peace, but their argument escalates and Laurie says this proves people don't change and they are still the same as they were in 10th grade.

While they're out, Gaitok breaks into Tim and Victoria's suite and looks for the gun, while back at the meditation centre Tim tells Victoria that he likes the monk and thinks the centre is genuine. Victoria says she has done a tour of the centre and the living conditions are grim, and - convinced that Piper will hate it - she tells her daughter that if she sleeps there for one night and still wants to spend a year there afterwards, she will support her decision. Piper can't believe her luck and goes to ask if they have a room, while Lachlan tells her he will stay with her and she's grateful.

Rick meets with his friend, Frank, in Bangkok again and asks if he will help him get revenge on Jim. He says no becasue he is trying to live a different life in Thailand, and that Rick is clearly going to kill Jim. Rick denies that is his plan, despite asking Frank for the gun.

Meanwhile, Gaitok finds the dresser that Tim hid the gun in and is awash with relief as he puts it in his pocket and sneaks out of their room just as they are returning. Back at the security gate, Pee Lek is looking for the gun, but Gaitok covers and claims he had it with him the whole time.

In their suite, Tim and Victoria are arguing about the fact Tim is encouraging Piper's dream of moving to the meditation centre and he says he thinks it will be good for her to learn to live without all their money. Victoria is angry and tells Tim that she couldn't cope if they lost their fortune, admitting that she wouldn't see a reason for living if they didn't have money, not realising that they have already lost it all.

Chloe finds Chelsea and Saxon at the pool and tells them Gary wants them to come for dinner that night at the house, and that he knows that she and Saxon slept together. Saxon says that he doesn't want to go if Gary knows what happened the night before, and Chelsea suggests maybe Gary likes the idea of a threesome. Saxon says he only has threesomes with two women, and not another man, and Chloe reminds him that the night before he made out with his own brother. Saxon claims that was a joke and they made them do it, to which Chloe says she didn't get his brother to jerk him off. Saxon is horrified and says he doesn't remember, but she does, and it happened. He is sickened once again by the whole thing, blames the drugs Chloe bought and makes a hasty exit back to his room.

Meanwhile, Lachlan is at the meditation centre with Piper and they are doing some group meditation together. As he tries to clear his mind, memories of the night before come back to him, and he remembers what happened with Saxon and is horrified.

On her way back to her room after work, Belinda is terrified when Gary seems to appear from nowhere and invites her to dinner at his house that night. She makes excuses, but he is very insistent and tells her she is welcome at his place any time. When she gets back to the room, she finds Zion in the pool and he can tell something is wrong.

Back in his room, Tim is thinking that he now not only has to take his own life but also kill Victoria after she said that she couldn't see the point in carrying on if they lost all their money. Tim is thinking about shooting Vicotira when Saxon gets home and jogs him out of his trance. Saxon tells his dad about the dinner party they have been invited to at Gary's and Tim agrees to go.

In Bangkok, Frank and Rick arrive at Sritala and Jim's house. There are bodyguards who meet them at the gate, and soon Sritala welcomes them inside. But while Frank pretends to be a movie producer, Rick is left frozen to the spot when he finally comes face to face with Jim, the man he thinks murdered his father.

The fifth episode picks up right where the fourth ended, with Gaitok realizing someone has taken the gun from his security hut. He searches everywhere and then has the idea to watch the CCTV to see who took it, and it doesn't take long to work out it was Tim.

Meanwhile, Tim is at dinner with his wife, Victoria and daughter Piper, but as Piper tries to tell them she has decided to come and live in Thailand at the meditation center when she graduates, Tim's mind is totally consumed with the fact he has lost all his money and it heading for jail. Victoria and Tim are shocked to learn there is no thesis and that Piper asked to come to Thailand under false pretenses. While Tim is quietly confused, Victoria is fuming and tells her daughter she can't be a Buddhist as she comes from a Christian family.

Meanwhile, Gaitok is looking for Tim to try and get the gun back, but hotel manager Fabian catches him in the restaurant and asks why he isn't in the security booth. He lies and says he is there to watch Mook's evening performance, so Fabian says he can stay for a few minutes but then must get back.

On Chloe's boat, the gang is heading to the full moon party and Saxon is still on a mission to get his little brother to lose his virginity. He thinks Chloe will be the right woman for Lachlan, while he is going to try his luck with Chelsea. Meanwhile, inside the boat, the women are talking about the brothers and Chloe seems to have a soft spot for Lachlan, while Chelsea admits she is a romantic at heart and would never cheat on Rick.

Speaking of Rick, he has landed in Bangkok and is on a mission to find Khun Jim Hollinger (Sritala's husband) - after his mother told him on her deathbed that he was the one who killed Rick's father.

In town Kate, Laurie and Jaclyn are getting to know Valentin and his friends. There is plenty of flirting going on and when Valentin asks Laurie to dance she happily says yes. They all have fun as they down shots and Laurie is on a mission to get as drunk as she possibly can.

Fabian corners Belinda and asks if she is enjoying her exchange. She says she is and he tells her that one of his regulars has been asking after her. She knows he means Gary (or Greg as we know him) and she is rattled when Fabian tells her how much information about her he has given Gary. She ponders on what he has told her and later returns to see Fabian and tells him everything about Gary, admitting she doesn't know what to do. She tells him that Gary is dangerous and they have to call the police, but he admits he is having trouble following her story and she could be mistaken. She is stunned when he says they shouldn't be speculating about guests and that she should focus on her job.

Meanwhile, Victoria is still trying to get her head around the fact Piper wants to spend a year at a monastery, and takes Tim's silence about the whole thing as shock over the news, not realizing he has much bigger problems on his mind.

As Tim excuses himself to go to the bathroom, Gaitok follows him and asks if he has the gun. Tim denies all knowledge and walks off. Back in their room, Victoria tells Piper they are going to the monastery the next day to meet the people who run it, as she is worried it is a sex cult. Piper is incredulous over her mum's sheltered opinions and wonders why Tim doesn't seem bothered by her news.

In Bangkok, Rick is in a fancy hotel where he meets an old friend while Chelsea tries to call him from the full moon party but he doesn't answer. He is shocked when his friend orders a camomile tea at the bar and explains he has found religion and has been sober for 10 months. His friend brings him a bag, telling him inside is what he asked for... and he hopes he knows how to use it.

At the party Chloe buys drugs, but Saxon says he doesn't take drugs and refuses, while Lachlan grabs one and downs it. Saxon is shocked and tells him he needs to be on his A-game tonight if he wants to sleep with Chloe. In the end Chloe, Lachlan and Chelsea bully Saxon into taking the pill.

At the nightclub, Laurie, Jaclyn and Kate feel awkward when a woman comes over with her friends and starts arguing with one of Valentin's friends about the fact he has been dancing with other women. They decide to leave and continue their drinking at the villa, inviting Valentin and his friends to join them. Laurie and Jaclyn are keen, but Kate is adamant it isn't a good idea and she just wants to go to bed.

At the hotel, everyone gets in the pool apart from Kate, and soon more drinks are flowing and everyone is having a great time.

In contrast, Piper is in her room meditating, while her parents go to bed, and Victoria talks about how one thing can happen that changes your life forever, meaning Piper's decision to move to the meditation center, but Tim is thinking about the fact he has lost their fortune and is heading for jail.

Belinda is terrified that Gary will try and silence her after she recognized him and tells Pornchai about it over a drink in her room. He is much more understanding about it than Fabian and tells her he will stay with her tonight to keep her safe. Belinda is terrified when she hears the noise again in her room, but when Pornchai investigates, it isn't Gary - it is a huge lizard hiding behind her wardrobe.

In Bangkok, Rick's friend tells him about how he moved to Thailand becasue he liked the women, and he was out of control, partying and taking home a different woman every night. But then he realized that this life couldn't continue and he wondered if he was obsessed with women because he wanted to be one. Rick is speechless as his friend goes on to explain how his obsession with women was what made him turn to Buddhism, and that being sober is easy, but being celibate is the hard bit. As they part ways, Rick asks his friend to keep the following night free for him as he needs his help with something. His friend says he owes him, so will do as he has asked.

At their villa, Kate is trying to get rid of Valentin and his friends as the party winds down... but Laurie is disappointed when they leave. Everyone heads to bed, but once they are asleep, Jaclyn gets a text from Valentin and he is at the door to the villa. She goes to find him and sneaks him into her bedroom.

In Belinda's room, she is awkward as Pornchai asks which bed he should sleep in after promising to stay over and protect her, but soon they are kissing and the bed situation is forgotten.

As Chelsea, Saxon, Chloe and Lachlan get back to the boat after the full moon party, it is almost getting light. Chloe has set her sights on Lachlan and tells Chelsea that if Gary found out she had slept with someone else, he would kill her, and she truly believes he is capable of murder.

Back in Bangkok, Rick looks in the bag that his friend gave him and takes out a gun. He calls Chelsea back but she is on the boat, doing kissing dares with her friends.

Back in Tim and Victoria's villa, Tim has the gun and is writing a suicide note to his family. As his sons party on the boat, Tim is about to take his own life and just as he is about to pull the trigger Victoria comes out to find him and asks what he is doing. He hides the gun and she asks what is wrong but he fobs her off about not being able to sleep so she goes back to bed. Once she has gone, Tim prays, asking god to show him the way and tell him what to do.

The White Lotus season 3 sees a new batch of ultra-wealthy guests heading to a luxury hotel on the sunny shores of Koh Samui in Thailand.

But, once again, they're about to see their trip of a lifetime descend into a living nightmare as the series opens with a flash forward where we see at least one character meet a grisly end.

The holidaymakers this time around include successful businessman Timothy and his family, while actor Jaclyn has brought her two best friends to the resort for a much-needed girls' catch-up. Then there is free spirit Chelsea, who arrives with her tetchy boyfriend Rick. But as each resort guest finds their holiday thrown off course, who will make it home from the vacation in one piece?

Here is everything that happens in The White Lotus season 3 episode 4...

The fourth episode opens with Jaclyn leaving a voicemail for her boyfriend, who isn't returning her calls. She asks him to ring her back, but she doesn't sound very hopeful.

Belinda is speaking to her son, Zion, on the phone, he has just finished his final exams and is at the airport ready to fly out and meet her in Thailand. She is excited to see him, and when she hangs up she nears the odd tapping noise in her room again that she also heard the night before.

Tim is still struggling with the enormity of his money laundering fallout that is playing out at home, and his family still has no idea what he is hiding. He takes more of his wife, Victoria's anti-anxiety medication, and when she asks the kids if someone has stolen some as she knows they're missing, they all deny it and Tim keeps quiet.

Rick and Chelsea are having dinner and they talk about the fact he is going to Bangkok that night and won't make it onto Gary and Chloe's boat trip. Chelsea cries about the fact Rick is abandoning her and won't tell her why, and he relents and agrees to go on the boat before his flight that evening.

Jaclyn, Kate and Laurie are having breakfast and, missing her boyfriend and cross he isn't ringing her back, Jaclyn tells her friends they should skip yoga and pool lounging that day and find somewhere with a bit more excitement. They ask health mentor Valentin if there is somewhere with music and dancing, and he says he knows exactly where they should go and promises to organize a car for them.

Elsewhere Gaitok's meeting with his boss takes a surprise turn when he tells him there has been an increase in crime on the island and he now wants him to carry a gun. It is clear Gaitok's not overly happy about this, especially when his boss tells him to practice at the shooting range that evening after work when Gaitok had promised to watch Mook dancing in the after-dinner entertainment slot.

Amrita corners Rick after breakfast and asks him if he would like another session, but he turns her down. She tells him he has touched her heart and she knows that he can turn his life around, and he seems surprised.

The Ratliff family arrives for their trip with Gary and Chloe and introductions are made. When Victoria asks Gary what his line of work was before he retired, he is evasive, clearly not wanting to share. Chloe is thrilled they have guests and shows them to the bar as Chelsea and Rick arrive, who are shocked to see the boat is so huge.

Tim pretends he needs to use the bathroom but instead sneaks downstairs on the boat to find Victoria's handbag. He takes more of her medication before stealing the lot and putting it in his pocket.

At the beach club, Jaclyn's hopes of letting her hair down fall flat when she realizes that everyone else at the resort is over retirement age. She is fuming that Valentin has recommended this place to them and tells Kate and Laurie to get their stuff, becasue they're leaving!

On the boat Gary is getting drunk while his guests party, and Piper takes her brother, Lachlan to one side, telling him she needs his backup later becasue she is going to tell their parents at dinner that after she graduates she is moving to Thailand to stay at the meditation center. She says she is going to live there for at least a year, and Lachlan is upset that she lied to them all about wanting to come to Thailand to interview a monk for her thesis when really it was to scope out the meditation center and move there. As they're talking, Saxon catches Lachlan's eye and beckons him over. He is on a mission to get his little brother to lose his virginity and points out some women he thinks he should flirt with. Soon Lachlan is doing card tricks and impressing all the women.

Meanwhile, Victoria is worrying about Tim, telling him that he is acting strangely, not realizing that he is taking her medication and then drinking heavily at the same time. She goes to find her handbag and is shocked to see her tablets have gone.

Rick is his usual cagey self as other guests on the boat try and talk with him, and Chelsea has had enough of his grumpiness and takes him to one side. He eventually opens up when she asks him why they are in Thailand and he admits he's there becasue the man who owns the hotel - Khun Jim Hollinger (Sritala's husband) - murdered his father. He explains that he thought Jim was going to be here, but he's had a stroke and is in a hospital in Bangkok. He tells Chelsea that he never got the chance to know his father, but that he was a good man and came to Thailand to help locals stop Americans from taking their land. One day he went missing and was never seen again, but Rick's mother told him it was Jim who killed him. Chelsea is shocked and asks if he wants revenge by killing Jim, but Rick says he doesn't know.

Laurie, Kate and Jaclyn go back to The White Lotus and find Valentin, telling him the place he recommended was rubbish and that he needs to take them somewhere better. They drag him out with him, even though he is meant to be working, and he takes them into town. As he heads off to get his friends to join them at a beach club, Jaclyn notices everyone in the street has water pistols and soon they are being soaked by the local kids.

Belinda talks to Pornchai about the fact she recognizes Gary (or as she knows him - Greg) from the night before, despite the fact he claimed not to know anyone called Tanya. Later, in her room, Belinda is still being bugged by the feeling something isn't right with Gary, who she is convinced is Tanya's husband. She googles Tanya and is stunned to learn she's not only dead but also died in mysterious circumstances in Sicily. She is also horrified to read a news report about the fact Greg is wanted for questioning in connection with Tanya's death, but that he has failed to get in touch with the authorities.

As the boat trip ends, Tim and Victoria can't wait to get back on dry land, but Lachlan and Saxon tell their parents they are staying on the boat as they are sailing to another island with Chloe for a full moon party. Piper is cross that Lachlan won't be there when she tells her parents about her move to the meditation center but her brothers head off for the party anyway. Chelsea tries to stop Rick from going to Bangkok, convinced he is going to do something stupid when he finds Jim, but he won't listen and tells her to go to the full moon party with Chloe. Chloe is thrilled when Chelsea returns to the boat, especially becasue Gary refused to come to the party as he had 'something to sort' at home.

At the beach party Valentin arrives with his friends and Kate, Jaclyn and Laurie are happy their day finally seems to be looking up.

Tim is struggling at dinner when Victoria talks about what a good man he is in comparison to the tax dodgers and conmen that were on the boat trip. He makes his excuses to leave the table and goes to ask Pam for his phone back out of the safe. She tries to change his mind, but soon realizes he isn't going to be swayed, and when he turns it on it pings continuously with missed calls and messages.

Tim calls his lawyer and he is fuming to find out his business partner has struck a deal with the police and has told them everything. His lawyer tells him he should also make a deal but Tim doesn't want to as it means he will never work in finance again if he is linked to embezzlement and fraud. Tim tells his lawyer that he tried to move some cash around the night before, but his lawyer tells him they are well beyond that and the police will have frozen his assets already and that being linked to fraud is the least of his worries right now. Tim's lawyer tells him that he is likely to lose everything, including his house, and is facing at least a few months in federal jail.

At the security office, Gaitok is looking at the gun he needs to learn to use when Mook turns up in her traditional dance costume and looks a million dollars. She asks him about his meeting but he is evasive and offers to walk her to the stage for her performance. But he forgets to lock the gun away and leaves it out on the desk in the security office.

As Tim gets off the phone with his lawyer he yells at him that he would rather be dead than tell his family they're poor and that he is going to jail. As he hangs up Tim sees the gun that Gaitok left out, and when Gaitok gets back to the office he panics when he finds it gone.

At his huge house on the beach, Gary is looking up Belinda on social media, knowing that she has worked out who he is and could report him to the police. As he scrolls through her social media he sees a picture of her with her son, Zion, and is clearly plotting something bad.

Here is everything that happens in The White Lotus season 3 episode 3...

The third episode opens with Victoria having a dream that she is at the beach by her house back in the US, and she is walking into the sea at night as a tsunami comes from nowhere, crashing over her. She wakes to find Tim on the phone secretly whispering, but she still doesn't know about his money laundering dramas going on at home.

At breakfast, Piper suggests that her mom's dream might be foretelling something bad is going to happen, while Tim looks quietly panicked. Tim's phone keeps on ringing at the table, which annoys Piper as there is a phone ban at the resort, but it gets to the point where he can't ignore it and rushes off to answer, leaving everyone worrying something is wrong. It is Tim's assistant on the phone who tells him the FBI has arrived at his office and is looking for him.

As he is getting his breakfast, Rick sees hotel owner, Sritala, in a meeting and goes to gatecrash, wanting to get more information on her trip to Bangkok later that day. He pretends to be a producer and says that he would like to set her up with someone who would like to cast her, she is flattered and gives him her card. When he gets back to the table, Chelsea quizzes him on what he was saying and he tells her it is none of her business and that he is going to Bangkok the following day. Chelsea is miffed and asks what she is meant to do while he is gone, to which he rudely replies maybe she can find another sugar daddy to sponge off.

Kate, Laurie and Jaclyn are also having breakfast when Valentin, the health mentor, comes to remind them about their treatments for the day. The women flirt with him and once he has left, Jaclyn tells Laurie she should have a holiday fling with Valentin, which Laurie scoffs at.

As Sritala leaves breakfast, resort security officer Gaitok sees her and she thanks him for his bravery in the robbery the previous day. He tells her it is no problem and that he loves working for her and her husband, Jim, and that if she ever needs another bodyguard then he would be up for the job.

Pam arrives to see Tim and his family, and while Saxon is more concerned about the blender that she has brought so that he can make protein shakes, Tim is secretly panicking about what the FBI might find at his office. The rest of the family is oblivious to his turmoil, and Victoria is thinking about nothing other than her next massage. Pam lets slip that Victoria has booked some posture correction therapy for Lachlan, and he isn't impressed. With Tim ignoring his phone, Terry from their office, where Saxon also works, starts calling Saxon's phone, so in a desperate moment to stop his son from answering their phones and finding out what he has done, Tim suggests everyone puts their devices in Pam's bag that she will lock away for the duration of the holiday like she suggested when they arrived. Piper thinks it is a great idea, but Saxon is fuming, and it takes some ego fluffing from Tim to get his son to part with his phone and laptop.

Pornchai tells Belinda that they are going to have dinner later that evening, but first, she is going to meet the rest of the resort's spa staff and learn more about their treatments.

While Gaitok tells Mook that he has offered to go to Bangkok with Sritala and she seems impressed, Rick goes for another counseling session with Amrita. He tells her that this isn't his sort of thing, but she eventually gets him to open up and he talks about his father being a good man but that he himself has done some bad things in his life.

Saxon tells his younger brother Lachlan that now they haven't got their phones all week, he is going to make it his mission to make sure Lachlan loses his virginity this week. Lachlan seems unimpressed, but he is even more unimpressed when he goes to his posture session and he is told he has defensive body language.

By the pool, Chloe tells Chelsea that her boyfriend Gary barely talks to her about his ex-wife and that all she knows is that she was depressed and took her own life by walking out into the sea and never coming back. Rick arrives and tells Chelsea he is going into town, and she runs after him - meanwhile, Saxon jumps onto her now vacant sunlounger and introduces himself to Chloe.

In town, Rick buys a joint and drags Chelsea to a snake show, but he feels sorry for all the poisonous snakes in the cages and lets them all out of the tanks. But when Chelsea comes to see what he is doing, she is bitten by a venomous snake and the people at the snake sanctuary race her off to the hospital while Rick is left to follow behind in a panic.

Thankfully Chelsea is okay after being bitten by a cobra, and at dinner that evening Chloe points out Chelsea has had two brushes with death in the last two days. Chloe jokes that perhaps Chelsea and Rick shouldn't come on Gary's boat trip tomorrow as they might bring bad luck.

Back at the resort, Victoria tells Tim he looks tired and convinces him to take one of her sleeping tablets.

At dinner, Kate, Laurie and Jaclyn talk about Laurie's healing session with Valentin that day. Kate says she doesn't believe in the healing side of things and reveals that she goes to church every weekend with her family and has done so ever since they moved to Texas. Jaclyn is shocked by this revelation and asks if it is weird that she has to mix with Texans who all voted for Trump, and it comes out that Kate votes Independent and her husband is a Republican. The atmosphere around the table gets very awkward as Trump is mentioned again and everyone just focuses on eating their dinner in silence.

Belinda and Pornchai have dinner together and she tells him how much she is enjoying Thailand, and that she was depressed before she arrived at the resort becasue her boss died in terrible circumstances and that a rich woman who was going to fund her business flaked when she met a man. She is, of course, talking about Tanya, and then she suddenly realizes that she knows the man she recognized at the bar the night before and that it was Greg, Tanya's husband, or Gary, Chloe's boyfriend as we know him in this series.

Belinda approaches Gary at dinner where he is with Chloe, Chelsea and Rick, and says she knows him from The White Lotus in Maui... he is shocked to see her and pretends he doesn't know her. She asks if he is called Greg and was married to someone called Tanya, and he denies it and says his name is Gary. Belinda makes her apologies, but it is clear that she knows he is lying.

Victoria and her kids have dinner, but Tim isn't there becasue he is still out cold after taking a sleeping pill.

At the entrance to the hotel Gaitok's boss tells him to be in for 7 am the following day as he has a meeting with the hotel manager. Gaitok is worried he is in trouble but his boss won't reveal what it is about and tells him to be on time.

Later that evening Rick leaves a voicemail for someone called Frank and tells him he is coming to Bangkok the next day - he says he needs his help with a few things and asks him to call him back.

Pornchai walks Belinda back to her room after dinner and he is a bit drunk and comments that he hopes she has good dreams of him. She is bemused by his flirting and goes into her room, but while she is indoors she gets spooked when she hears a strange noise.

Kate also hears something outside her room and it is Laurie and Jaclyn are talking about the fact she clearly voted for Trump and they're not sure how she could have changed so much.

In his room, Tim tracks down Victoria's stash of sleeping pills and takes another one before going back to bed. Victoria asks him if something is wrong, but he fobs her off and doesn't tell her about the money laundering.

The White Lotus season 3 sees a new batch of ultra-wealthy guests heading to a luxury hotel on the sunny shores of Koh Samui in Thailand.

But, once again, they're about to see their trip of a lifetime descend into a living nightmare as the series opens with a flash forward where we see at least one character meet a grisly end.

The holidaymakers this time around include successful businessman Timothy and his family, while actor Jaclyn has brought her two best friends to the resort for a much-needed girls' catch-up. Then there is free spirit Chelsea, who arrives with her tetchy boyfriend Rick. But as each resort guest finds their holiday thrown off course, who will make it home from the vacation in one piece?

Here is everything that happens in The White Lotus season 3 episode 2...

The second episode opens on the same night that episode 1 ended, with Kate and Jaclyn sitting chatting after dinner about Laurie and how much her divorce must have hurt her and her daughter, Ellie. Kate talks about how Ellie has been thrown out of two schools for hitting and throwing furniture, Kate thinks it is because Laurie raised her daughter in New York.

They then talk about how Laurie has always been defined by her career, but Jaclyn points out that Laurie never got that promotion to partner that she talked about and they talk like they are sympathetic, but the underlying tone of their conversation is judgemental and mean.

The women talk about how she looks tired and defeated, despite the fact they both said to her face that she looks great, and then they judge her on her drinking and talk about how much wine she had with dinner. As they are talking, Laurie scares them by banging on the door, and as soon as they let her in they say they were just talking about how great she looks and how they can't wait to spend the week together.

The next morning as everyone gets up after their first night at The White Lotus Resort, Belinda gets ready for her first day learning on the job, while Gaitok asks Mook if she will have lunch with him as he has something important to talk to her about.

At breakfast, Kate corners Victoria who is eating with her family, and tells her that she recognizes her from somewhere and it turns out they went to a baby shower for their mutual friend, Claire, years ago. Victoria is rude and clearly doesn't remember Kate, and the whole conversation is awkward.

When Kate leaves, Victoria's son, Lochlan, tells her she was rude but she doesn't seem to care. Elsewhere, Mook comes to see Chelsea and Rick and goes through their treatments at the spa that morning. Chelsea is looking forward to her massage, while Rick is annoyed she has booked him in for a stress-reducing meditation treatment that he tells her he won't be going to. She reveals that she made a new friend at the bar the previous night and she has asked them to finner, and Chelsea tells Rick she accepted the invitation, which he's cross about. Chelsea tells Rick he will get on with Chloe's boyfriend becasue they have a lot in common, like the fact they are both old and going bald.

Valentin, the health mentor, comes to see Kate, Laurie and Jaclyn and tells them he is looking forward to working with them all - Kate and Jaclyn joke that Laurie needs to flirt with him as she is the only single one between them.

At the spa, the Ratliff family gets their individual relaxation schedules, but Timothy just wants to go to the gym. Meanwhile, Belinda talks with Pornchai from the spa and they agree to give each other their signature treatment and then they can compare notes afterward.

As his family has their treatments, Timothy calls his assistant at home and she says that she hasn't heard from his colleague that he was trying to get hold of, but that someone from the Washington Post was trying to get hold of him, meaning a second newspaper is after an interview.

As Chelsea has her massage, which she talks all the way through, Rick goes for his stress-relieving session with spa worker, Amrita. She asks him about his stress levels and he says he has always been stressed even when he was a child becasue his father was murdered and his mother was a drug addict who overdosed when he was 10.

Gaitok tells Mook over lunch that he likes her, that they are from the same town and her brothers even like him. He asks her on a date, but it seems she doesn't feel the same way, becasue she jokes about the date, telling him to stop acting weird and to just eat his lunch.

Over lunch, Chelsea asks Rick how his session with Amrita was but he fobs her off and says there is no way he is going back for another session. Chloe comes to the table to see if Chelsea wants to hang out together, and Chelsea makes excuses for why Rick is so rude and walks off with her new friend.

At the beach, Kate, Laurie and Jaclyn are hanging out and Jaclyn asks Laurie how her session with Valentin went. She tells her friends that he told her she had the stats of a woman half her age, and Jaclyn says he said the same thing to her... it then gets competitive between the women about who got what readings for hydration and fat levels before talk turns to Jaclyn and her new husband, who she says she is addicted to. Laurie, who is divorced, says that she has only been married a year, so give it time, and the conversation turns awkward and sour.

Chelsea and Chloe complain to one another about their rude boyfriends and Chloe says she has Gary's credit card and they should go to the resort shop and spend his money.

Lachlan and Piper are sitting on hammocks in the sea when Lachlan tells his sister that their older brother Saxon, who is obsessed with the opposite sex, says that Piper has never slept with anyone, which is weird, becasue she is hot. Piper is horrified that her brother is talking about her like that and swims off, disgusted.

At the front gate, Valentin arrives on a motorbike and distracts Gaitok with talk about a fight that he is going to that weekend and asking if he would like a ticket. As they are talking, a black car drives into the resort, and a man jumps out with a mask on and his hood up... he storms into the resort shop and gets out a gun, pointing it at Chelsea who is shopping with Chloe. He smashes the jewelry cases open and takes out the necklaces and stuffs them into his backpack. He then runs out of the shop and back into the car, which drives towards the gate... he gets out and forces the barrier, but Gaitok tries to stop him. However, they end up in a fight and Gaitok is knocked out. The car speeds off and later the police and an ambulance arrive to take statements and check Gaitok over, while Chelsea struggles with being held at gunpoint.

Mook comes to see Gaitok to make sure he is okay - she says he is very brave and she was worried about him, which he likes and we see an attraction between them both.

At dinner, Chloe is miffed about missing seeing the thief as she was in the changing room, but Chelsea tells her that she almost died and she was lucky to miss it. Rick seems pleased that as a result of Chelsea being caught up in the robbery they have got their room for free for the duration of their stay, but things are awkward when Chloe's boyfriend, Gary, doesn't say much. They end up talking about work, but neither of the men gives away what they do, both claiming their careers cover 'this and that'. While they are talking, Belinda sees Gary from afar, and it looks like she might recognize him from somewhere - while she seems to struggle to place him, we know it is Greg from seasons 1 and 2, who was married to Jennifer Coolidge's character, Tanya.

As people finish dinner the evening entertainment begins and hotel owner, Sritala, sings as her staff dance - but while everyone enjoys the show, Rick is fixated on Sritala, clearly still determined to somehow speak to her husband. Later, he overhears Sritala telling Jaclyn that she is going to Bangkok the next day becasue her husband has just got out of hospital there.

Timothy finally gets through to his colleague, Kenny, at home and he is shocked when he tells him he doesn't care about the Wall Street Journal calling becasue the FBI has just been and raided his office after a whistleblower called them. Timothy tells Kenny that he promised this would never happen, but Kenny is panicking about going to jail now the police have everything from his emails to his personal documents. He tells Tim he should never have gone to Bruni and that he regrets taking the position. It turns out that Tim is now caught up in a money laundering business after doing a favor to his friend, and he starts to panic when Ken tells him that he needs to get a decent lawyer and fast. Tim's fuming becasue he 'only' made $10 million out of the scheme and now he could be facing prison. Tim tells his friend that if he mentions his name when questioned by the police, he will find him and kill him, but Kenny replies that he doesn't have to bother becasue he is going to kill himself... and the whole time Tim is talking on the phone, Gaitok is secretly listening in from his security hut.

As Jaclyn heads to bed, Kate and Laurie stay up and talk, but instead of bitching about Laurie like the previous night, Kate now talks about Jaclyn to Laurie. The women say that Jaclyn's marriage sounds fake and that she has had lots of work done to maintain her perfect complexion - both clearly jealous of their friend.

As Tim tries to get himself a lawyer and fast, Gary tells Chelsea that he needs to go to Bangkok, but he won't tell her why and she doesn't seem to mind that he is so mysterious.

But what business does he have with Jim Hollinger?

The White Lotus has returned to screens — and it was always a drama that would get everybody talking.

The first episode of The White Lotus aired Sunday, 16th Feb, and viewers have been catching up on the first instalment on streaming platforms this week.

But while the much-anticipated third series of the show has generated a lot of interest, some fans were less than impressed with the first episode for one key reason — the colour grading. Some called the yellow tint 'off' and distracting. However, others were impressed by the effect, which has become the show's trademark.

'That yellow filter in white lotus looks so off to me. i might watch just to see if it's a consistent look across the entire series,' wrote one fan on X (formerly Twitter).

Meanwhile another said, 'The question I have about white lotus is: did they get rid of the yellow screen on the trailer or…?'

While another wrote, with a scathing review, 'Need a minute to vent about the epitome of screen time wastefulness that is White Lotus. What is even the plot? Why is it graded so yellow?

'Why is literally every character a douche or imbecile? Literally, answer me this - what is there to like?'

And another wrote, 'Color grading in the white lotus hurt my eyes.'

While another said, 'Currently watching the white lotus and it's okay. Lisa's debut in acting and she did so well. I am just bothered with one thing. What's with yellow grading? Sakit sa mata.'

But not everyone was so critical, with another writing, 'the color grading on the white lotus s3 is immaculate.'

And another more positive fan wrote, 'I love the way they’ve shot The White Lotus - Thailand. The series Colour Grading lent warm hues in the foreground which helps by contrasting the dull sky (usually flat). Oh, and Lisa of Blackpink is สวยงาม sǔai ngaam.'

While another said, 'I love the colour grading on White Lotus. Rewatching season two for… reasons.'

Tinsel Town is a Christmas rom-com featuring Kiefer Sutherland as a failed Hollywood actor who accidentally ends up in a small UK village, starring in the town’s production of Cinderella. This festive caper boasts an A-list cast, which also includes Rebel Wilson, Danny Dyer, Asim Chaudhry, Katherine Ryan and Sir Derek Jacobi.

The story follows American movie star Bradley Mack, played by Kiefer, who travels to the UK to reignite his career after his action movie franchise is abruptly cancelled. But instead of treading the boards on the West End, he ends up starring in a local play with a colourful cast of oddballs.

"It’s a Christmas film which is kind of the last thing I thought I would be a part of," says Kiefer. “I’m thrilled to be working back in the UK and with director Chris Foggin. The cast is fantastic, and I can’t wait to tell this story.”

Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson, who plays no-nonsense movie choreographer Jill, adds: “I love British Christmas movies because in Australia we’re just on the beach having a BBQ - and so now I feel like I get to have a classic British Christmas - freezing my t**s off but laughing and sledding all the way."

Tinsel Town plot 

Tinsel Town follows egotistic actor Bradley Mack, whose career is in freefall. Worried his Hollywood days are behind him, Bradley flies to England, hoping to reinvent himself as a serious actor on the West End. However, his agent books him to star in a local production of Cinderella in a small, snow-covered village. Bradley’s not impressed but as time goes by, he starts to see new hope in the form of choreographer Jill and his journey takes a different path.

In Tinsel Town, Kiefer Sutherland plays the pampered Hollywood action hero Bradley Mack who's fallen on harder times. 

The Canadian star and son of Donald Sutherland is best-known for his long-running role as Jack Bauer in the series 24 from 2001 to 2010. He played President Tom Kirkman in the political drama series Designated Survivor and has also starred in The Lost Boys, The First Lady, Stand By Me, A Few Good Men, Phone Booth, Flatliners and Rabbit Hole. 

Rebel Wilson as Jill

Rebel Wilson plays the production’s choreographer, Jill, In Tinsel Town. She previously starred as Fat Amy in the Pitch Perfect films and was Brynn in Bridesmaids. She’s also been in Jojo Rabbit, The Hustle, Cats, Grimsby, What To Expect When You’re Expecting, The Deb and How To Be Single.

Who else is starring? 

Tinsel Town has an impressive cast including comedian Katherine Ryan as Bradley’s long-suffering agent. Derek Jacobi, Mawaan Rizwan, Maria Friedman, Alice Eve, Danny Dyer, Asim Chaudhry, Jason Manford, Ray Fearon, Lucien Laviscount and James Lance are all playing local villagers while Meera Syal is the production’s director. 

Newcomer Savannah Lee Smith (Cruel Intentions) will also feature alongside Theodora Williams in her on-screen feature debut, alongside Matilda Firth (Wolf Man) and Eden Hamilton (The Railway Children Return).

Here is everything that happens in The White Lotus season 3 epsiode 1...

The first episode opens with a hotel guest called Zion sitting on a dock overlooking a tranquil lake, taking a meditation class with spa employee, Amrita. But, as they are trying to focus on their breathing, gunshots go off in the distance and soon panic sets in as a bullet comes through the window of the retreat. Zion worries that his mum is out in the resort somewhere and as Amrita runs to safety, he gets in the lake to swim to the other side to get a closer look at what is happening. But as he prays his mum is okay a body comes floating past him in the water and he flees.

The episode then goes back in time to a week earlier and we see Belinda, the spa manager from season 1, on a boat in the middle of the ocean. On the same boat are the other new guests for the hotel and they are already arguing as Rick lights a cigarette and no one is happy about him smoking.

As the boat comes into the bay, the resort staff are there to welcome their guests, including Fabian, who is the hotel manager. First up is Chelsea and Rick, who are a couple that appear to be like chalk and cheese. Chelsea takes an instant shine to Mook, who is part of the White Lotus Resort staff, while Rick looks like he would rather be anywhere else but with his girlfriend.

Then the Ratliff family are welcomed next - mum and dad - Victoria and Timothy - and their kids, Saxon, the eldest, and then daughter Piper and their youngest, Lochlan. Resort staff member Pam welcomes them (played by Morgana O'Reilly who Neighbours fans will remember as Ramsay Street's Naomi Canning) and she encourages them to leave the phones in a bag that she will lock in a safe so they can have a restful vacation with no distractions. Of course, no one wants to part with their phones and they're outraged when she says there is no wifi.

Finally comes Jaclyn who is well known to the hotel owner, Sritala, as she is a famous actress. Jaclyn is with her friends Kate and Laurie who she has known for years. They are introduced to Valentin, who is a health mentor and very handsome, which doesn't go unnoticed by the women.

Belinda is then welcomed to the resort by Pornchai, who works at the hotel spa and she says she can't wait to start working and learn on the job.

As Rick and Chelsea settle into their room, Chelsea tries to encourage Rick to get a facial at the spa as someone at the airport thought he was her dad. He clearly finds her irritating and tells her no. But while Chelsea is there for a good time, it seems Rick has business to attend to, which he has absolutely no intention of talking about with his girlfriend.

Kate, Jaclyn, and Laurie settle into their rooms and talk about how happy they are to be away together after so many years of being friends. Kate tells Jaclyn that she looks amazing and while they are complimenting one another, it seems some underlying rivalry or jealousy is going on.

Belinda is driven to the spa and welcomed by the staff there - they are all keen to share their wellness knowledge with her and she is happy until she gets freaked out by a huge lizard on the path in front of her. Pornchai tells her she will get used to the wildlife and helps her get settled in. She is thrilled with her room, especially as there are two beds because her son is coming to stay once he has finished his exams and we learn her son is Zion from the opening flashforward scene.

At the resort entrance Mook thanks Gaitok, the resort's security guard, for a lift into work that morning, and as they chat it is clear that he likes her. Meanwhile, Saxon is at the pool when he spots Chelsea sunbathing and tries to get her attention by towling himself off nearby, while elsewhere his younger siblings go to check out a local temple so that Piper can start her thesis that she is writing.

At dinner that evening Chelsea is amused when Rick complains that there is only healthy food on the menu, but he is soon distracted by hotel owner Sritala going to talk to Kate, Jaclyn and Laurie - and it turns out Sritala's husband, an American called Jim Hollinger, who she co-owns the hotel with, is who he wants to talk to.

Timothy gets a call from a reporter at The Wall Street Journal who is running a story on someone he used to work with. He is spooked when they ask questions and doesn't want to talk, so he uses the fact he is on vacation with his family as an excuse and hangs up.

Later Rick does some research on Jim and it is clear he needs to talk to him desperately... but Chelsea isn't happy about being left to have dinner on her own and sits and has cocktails at the bar instead. She meets someone called Chloe and they bond over how much they hate their boyfriends and decide to get drunk together.

Meanwhile, Kate and Jaclyn heap praise on one another, telling each other how amazing they are, and it seems Laurie is feeling a little left out. They try and include her, but she claims the jetlag is catching up with her and she heads off to bed, taking her wine with her. From her room, she can see Kate and Jaclyn still talking at the table and she cries alone in her room.

At the end of the epsiode, Timothy and Victoria are in their room and Timothy is complaining to his wife about Rick, saying he doesn't like him. Victoria says that he is just jealous of Timothy and his beautiful family, but Timothy seems to have something on his mind that he isn't sharing with Victoria.

You can either watch The White Lotus season 3 on cable or on TV, and they'll both come out at the same time so neither is quicker.

On cable, you can watch episodes on HBO weekly from Sunday, February 16, with each airing at 9 pm ET/PT. I'll share the release schedule below.

HBO is a channel available from certain cable broadcasters, and a few live TV streaming services offer it as part of add-on packages. These include Hulu with Live TV, DirecTV and YouTube TV.

Alternatively, you can watch episodes of The White Lotus season 3 by using the streaming service Max, with each landing on the platform when they air on HBO. The previous two seasons can be watched on Max too.

Max starts at $9.99 for its cheapest plan but that will make you watch ads amongst your videos. There's a $16.99 plan for people who don't like commercials as this allows for ad-free streaming.

When we last saw spa manager Belinda Lindsay (Natasha Rothwell), spa manager of the Hawaii resort, in the season one finale of The White Lotus, she'd just learnt the hard way that you should never put your faith in a flighty rich person.

After forming a bond with grieving guest Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge), Tanya offered to bankroll Belinda's dream of setting up her own wellness business — but Tanya ended up bailing on their plans and, although she did leave Belinda some money before checking out, it was far less than they'd been discussing and not enough for Belinda to start thinking about handing in her notice.

As The White Lotus season 3 arrives Belinda is also back as she travels to one of the chain's other resorts in Thailand as part of a research program for her work. But what awaits her upon her arrival — and how is she coping after being left in the lurch by Tanya?

The White Lotus season three launches in the US on Sunday February 16 at 9pm ET/PT on HBO and streaming simultaneously on Max. In the UK, it launches on Monday February 17 at 2am and 9pm on Sky Atlantic.

You undoubtedly know the iconic songs and the powerhouse voice behind them — now you can get to know the woman herself, Gloria Gaynor, with tonight's premiere of Robin Roberts Presents: I Will Survive: The Gloria Gaynor Story on Lifetime.

Debuting on Saturday, February 8 at 8pm Eastern Time, the new biographical drama chronicles Gaynor’s rise to fame, from her humble beginnings to becoming one of the most iconic voices in music history. "Dubbed America’s 'Queen of Disco,' the movie will feature many of the songs that catapulted Gaynor to the top of the charts, including her legendary hit 'I Will Survive,' which became a cultural phenomenon and a powerful anthem of empowerment for millions worldwide," reads the film's official synopsis. "The biopic will also delve into the deeply personal challenges Gaynor faced, including overcoming her long and tumultuous marriage to her husband and manager."

Tony Award winner Joaquina Kalukango — best known for playing Nelly O'Brien in the Broadway musical Paradise Square and for portraying Kaneisha in Slave Play — stars as the two-time Grammy-winning singer and music legend Gloria Gaynor, with Lance Gross starring as Gloria’s husband Linwood Simon. Gaynor, who executive produces the 100-minute movie alongside Robin Roberts, also wrote and recorded an original song for the authorized biopic, which spans her acclaimed, five-decade career in the music industry.

To tune into the premiere of the new Lifetime biopic I Will Survive: The Gloria Gaynor Story tonight at 8pm, you're going to need access to the Lifetime network. It's over 30 years since five Dublin singers burst onto the music scene as Boyzone, quickly dominating the charts and living up to manager Louis Walsh's vision for them to become an Irish version of Take That.

Now, Sky Documentaries series Boyzone: No Matter What sees surviving members Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch and Michael 'Mikey' Graham look back at their rise to stardom, the cost of fame, and the behind-the-scenes rivalries that led to the band splitting in 1999.

The three-parter will also see them reflect on how the tragic death of bandmate Stephen Gately, who passed away in 2009, at the age of 33, has shaped their lives.

Here, Shane, 48, and Keith, 50, reveal why they wanted to share their stories...

No Matter What features archive footage of your auditions for Boyzone. How did it feel being part of this new boyband?

Keith: "We were very innocent and naive to the industry we were about to get into. We were only kids - but Louis Walsh was confident we were going to be the next Take That. It was a very exciting time."

Boyzone’s first performance as a group was on RTÉ One’s The Late Late Show, a TV appearance that’s since gone viral…

Keith: "The night they chose the final Boyzone line-up, Louis said to us: ‘Lads, tomorrow night you’re going on The Late Late Show’. This is the most infamous talk show in Ireland! We said: ‘What are we going to do? We've no songs, no music, we haven't recorded anything yet.’ Louis replies: ‘Just do a bit of dancing. You'll be grand.’ We had no direction… and obviously no stylist! We didn’t know that little dance would become so big…"

Does that clip still haunt you?

Keith: "Ha, ha! That clip is aired in every country in the world we've ever visited; every time we’d do a TV interview, it’s the first thing they’d show. Back then, we thought we were superstars and people were laughing with us - not at us!"

Each band member is filmed individually throughout, giving their account of Boyzone’s journey as they remember it. Did anything shock you about each others’ testimonies?

Keith: "We didn't say anything to purposely be shocking, we just spoke honestly and explored the same memories but from our own individual perspectives. It gave me great insight into how Shane remembers something that happened differently to the way I remember it, and how Ronan remembers it differently to the way Shane does and the way Mikey does. It’s been an education to watch the documentary and understand the other boys."

The series features archive footage from tours, TV appearances and video shoots. What was it like looking back?

Keith: "It was lovely, a real trip down memory lane. It was a nice reminiscing about all the things we have done - and forgotten we had done - like being flown to Modena in Italy to perform on stage with Pavarotti. It all sounds too far-fetched - but it’s what happened for us."

As well as exploring Boyzone’s many highs, the series also focuses on harder times, not least the death of your much-loved bandmate Stephen Gately in 2009…

Keith: "While this series gave us the opportunity to talk through our memories, not all of them were joyful; like when we lost our ‘Steo’. It was devastating - we were young and didn’t have the emotional tools to deal with it. A lot of the memories only become vivid when you speak about them, so filming was almost therapeutic - like an extended counselling session."

Boyzone initially split in 1999 after six years. What contributed to the break-up?

Shane: "Physically, it was gruelling. We didn’t have social media, you had to fly to a country to see people. That’s probably the most pressure we were put under; another plane, another airport, another TV show. Just as well we were younger then - I couldn't do it now!"

Keith: "The recent BBC2 documentary, Boybands Forever, highlighted how bands like ours are a sellable commodity. The record company makes sure it’s utilising all of your time to sell, sell, sell; they don't see us as human, they see us as a brand. All those bands from back then, like Five and East 17, say the same: it’s like a pressure cooker; a conveyor belt of radio interviews, photo shoots, TV shows and performances that just keeps going and it’s unsustainable. So there’s a shelf life for boybands - Boyzone broke up after six years because the pressure cooker becomes so intense and you stop enjoying it."

In a later episode, the two of you reunite alongside Ronan. What was that like?

Shane: "While the series focuses on us individually, the magic of Boyzone is when we're together, so it’s important that we finally get to see each other in that pool room at the end. We actually like each other, we’re friends."

Keith: "Speak for yourself! Ha, ha, just kidding. Myself, Shane and Ronan will enjoy a steak and a glass of wine from time to time - and we had the odd pint of Guinness during filming!"

Boyzone re-formed in 2007, splitting for good in 2018. Now you’re older and wiser, what advice would you give your younger selves starting out?

Keith: "Well, we’re definitely older. I don’t know how much wiser we are!"

Shane: "For me, talking about the journey has been far more satisfying than actually being on the journey. You might look back and go: ‘Do you remember when we were in Hong Kong doing this? But when we were actually in Hong Kong, we were far from home and always in a rush. So I’d tell myself to chill out more and try to enjoy, culturally, what you're surrounded by, as opposed to just another dressing room."

Keith: "Making this series has been an emotional roller coaster. As we’ve looked back at those memories, it’s hit home how none of us are perfect and how we all make mistakes, especially when you’re young. Filming this doc has allowed us to reminisce and spend time together. We're a huge part of each other's lives and always will be."

Boyzone: No Matter What airs on Sunday February 2 at 9pm on Sky Documentaries & Sky Showcase, with all three episodes available as a box set.

A few big movies are coming to Sky TV subscribers through January including Will Smith's Bad Boys: Ride or Die and Anya Taylor-Joy's Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, but another that you shouldn't overlook is The Last Stop in Yuma County which is now available to watch for Sky Cinema customers.

This indie movie was released in cinemas in the US in 2024, after a 2023 film festival premiere, but it didn't get a theatrical run in the UK. In fact, it's not been in cinemas or on a streaming service in the UK before, and the only way to see it was by buying or renting it digitally. That is, until now, with the movie being added to Sky Cinema today (on Sunday, January 26).

The Last Stop in Yuma Country is a crime thriller set in a remote petrol filling station in Yuma County in Arizona in the 1970s. It's about the disparate people waiting at the roadside stop for a refueling truck to arrive, which include some bank robbers on the run who try to avoid detection as well as a travelling knife salesman.

People loved the movie when it came out, with it currently sitting at a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It didn't make a huge box office splash in the US, likely down to it being an indie film with few big names behind it, but based on that score alone it's worth a watch. Apparently famous horror director Sam Raimi liked it so much that he hired its director for the upcoming Evil Dead movie.

Yuma County was directed by first-time director Francis Galluppi and its biggest cast member is arguably Jim Cummings, a popular indie director and actor himself known for Thunder Road and The Beta Test. He's joined by The House of the Devil's Jocelin Donahue and Supernatural's Sierra McCormick, amongst others.

People have compared The Last Stop in Yuma County to a Coen movie, so if you like those, it will definitely be worth getting onto Sky TV to watch it. You'll need one of Sky TV's two plans that include Sky Cinema.

For the first time in 30 years, Boyzone band members Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch and Michael 'Mikey' Graham will grant rare and exclusive interview access about their time in one of the biggest boybands in history.

Along with candid interviews and exclusive archival footage, viewers will see how the band was launched onto the 90s pop scene and went on to sell more than 25 million records worldwide.

Part of the series also focuses on late band member Stephen Gately, who tragically died in October 2009, aged 33 from an undiagnosed heart condition. As well as interviews with all remaining band members and their former manager Louis Walsh, there will also be contributions from Stephen's sister, Michelle, and his former partner and pop star Eloy De Jong.

Yes, the trailer gives us a glimpse into what we can expect from the documentary, from the early days when the band was first formed to the highs and lows of fame that followed.

”We were a bunch of kids put together. We weren’t perfect, we weren’t polished,” Ronan says in the trailer. While Louis Walsh, the band's estranged manager adds: “I prefer ordinary people because they work harder. And they do whatever you want at the start.”

We also see clips of the interviews with Ronan, Keith, Shane and Mikey as they talk about their time in the band, as well as the emotional moment the shocking news broke that Stephen had passed away.

Boyzone sold more than 25 million records worldwide and had five No1 albums, six No1 songs, and 18 songs in the Top 20 in the UK during their run.

Their hits include No Matter What, Picture of You, Words (originally sung by the Bee Gees), Father and Son (originally sung by Cat Stevens), Baby Can I Hold You Tonight?, and When The Going Gets Tough (for Comic Relief).

Throughout the band’s run, the main line-up included Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham, Stephen Gately and Shane Lynch. Richard Rock and Mark Walton were originally members of the group, but they left the group in 1994.

 The series i by Joe Wright, the director who brought us The Darkest Hour and Pride and Prejudice. He believes is should be viewed as a warning from history. But he also wants viewers to understand the terrible allure fascism can hold. 

"What I hope to do in the series is sometimes allow the audience to be seduced by Mussolini and to get excited by what he’s doing. To demonise these characters absolves us of moral responsibility and that’s really dangerous."

Mussolini: Son of the Century plot

This Italian-language period drama chronicles Fascism in Italy from its start in 1919 and shows how dictator Benito Mussolini (Luca Marinelli), also called Il Duce, rose to power in 1920s Italy. It follows through to Mussolini’s infamous speech in parliament following the murder of socialist Giacomo Matteotti in 1925. The story also explores his relationships with his wife Rachele, played by Benedetta Cimatti, and his lover Margherita Sarfatti (Barbara Chichiarelli).

Filmed in Italian with English subtitles, the drama opens in March 1919 when Mussolini breaks from his left-wing roots to establish the Italian Nationalist Party, a group of veterans who feel betrayed after World War One. However, before he can take the next step towards power, he must make a deal with Italy’s de facto leader, Gabriele D'Annunzio, who has taken control of Fiume, a city the Allies promised to Italy after the war, but gave to Yugoslavia instead.

in Mussolini: Son of the Century, 40-year-old Italian actor Luca Marinelli plays the power-hungry dictator. He has also starred in in The Old Guard, They Call Me Jeeg Robot and The Eight Mountains.

"I’m an anti-fascist, so playing the part was a very big journey,’ says Marinelli, who gained three stones and shaved his head for the role. ‘I had to suspend my judgement of Mussolini to try to understand him. But the physical transformation was also painful. One day my mother came on set and she didn't recognise me!"

All about Benito Mussolini 

Born in 1883, Benito Mussolini initially carved out a career as a journalist and was thrown out of the Italian Socialist Party for advocating for military intervention in World War One. He founded the National Fascist Party in 1919 and rose to power, becoming the Prime Minister of Italy in 1922. He then transformed Italy into a dictatorship and took on the title Il Duce, or the leader, from 1925. Mussolini ruled Italy with an iron fist, using a vast network of spies and secret policemen and banning any opposition and free press to maintain control, and he allied with Hitler during World War Two. He was deposed by Italian King Victor Emmanuel III in 1943 and was killed by communist partisans in 1945, trying to flee to Switzerland as the end of the war neared. Mussolini’s body was publicly displayed to prove he was dead.

Inheritance is a Sky thriller series that tackles the enduring legacy of colonialism. Inheritance plot

Inheritance is set in Bristol, UK, and Jamaica as it follows young lawyer Claudia (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) who embarks on a journey to challenge an inheritance claim filed by an unknown resident in Jamaica. She is sent to help wealthy white aristocrat Oliver Connaught (Jonny Lee Miller), whom the claim has been made against, but soon realises she has a personal connection to the ominous estate. And as she and Oliver investigate, they uncover a chilling connection between historical atrocities and present-day injustices.

In Inheritance, Jonny plays aristocrat Oliver Connaught. He's also starred in The Covenant, Dexter, EastEnders, Trainspotting, Endgame, Alice, Mindhunters and Mansfield Park.

A Sudden Case of Christmas is a feelgood festive film with Danny DeVito heading up the cast. Set in the middle of summer, Danny plays hotelier and doting grandfather Lawrence Armanetti who each year hosts his extended family for Christmas in his grand hotel in the Italian Dolomites.

However, it seems this year will be far from the picture-perfect get-together he loves as, in the summer, he learns his daughter and her husband are splitting up. His granddaughter Claire (Antonella Rose) suspects that this year’s festive trip may be canceled and insists on having one last family Christmas together. In the midst of the chaos, Claire and her grandfather hatch a plan to get her warring parents back together.

Every Christmas, Lawrence (Danny DeVito) hosts his extended family at his hotel in the Italian mountains. So, he’s surprised when his daughter and son-in-law turn up in the middle of summer. They announce that they are splitting up so their devastated 10-year-old daughter Claire (Antonella Rose) asks if they can have one last Christmas at the hotel as a family. She hopes to persuade her parents to reconcile but can she really create enough Christmas magic in the middle of August?

Danny DeVito plays the kindly grandfather and hotel owner Lawrence Armanetti. Danny previously found fame as grumpy cab dispatcher Louie De Palma in the hit US comedy series Taxi which ran from 1978 to 1983. He appeared in hit movies like One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, Romancing the Stone, Terms of Endearment, Twins and The War of the Roses. He’s also starred as the Penguin in Batman Returns, plus Matilda, Get Shorty, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Beetlejuice.

A Sudden Case of Christmas also stars Andie MacDowell plays Rose, Claire’s paternal grandmother while Clare is played by Antonella Rose. Lucy DeVito (Danny’s daughter) plays Abbie, Valeria Cavalli is Claudia. while Line of Duty’s Adrian Dunbar, Francesco Salvi, Roderick Hill and Tommaso Sacco also star.

Toni O’Rourke is delighted that her suspenseful Irish thriller The Boy That Never Was is making its UK debut on Alibi. 

“It’s just aired on our national broadcaster RTÉ and it was very well received,” smiles the Calm With Horses star, as she joins What To Watch for an exclusive video interview. "It was lovely watching it with family and friends and I’m excited for it to go out in the UK, and find out what everyone thinks!”

Filmed in Morocco and Ireland the taut four-parter, airing in weekly double-bills, tells the story of thirty-something couple, Robin and Harry Lonergan (Colin Morgan) as they traverse the grief of losing their three-year-old son, Dillon, when an earthquake hits their adoptive home in Essaouira, Morocco and he’s declared dead, although his body is never recovered.  

Three years later, as they’re attempting to rebuild their lives in Dublin, Harry believes he sees Dillon on a train station platform, provoking Robin into taking questionable steps to derail his hopes that their son is still alive.

Episode 3 — UFC

The lads undertake UFC training with English mixed martial arts professional and UFC champ Leon Edwards. Then it’s off to Los Angeles for a Route 66 road trip to Sin City, AKA Las Vegas, with UFC Hall of Fame legend Michael Bisping for International Fight Week. After grappling with the training method known as Animal Flow, our lads go head-to-head in a UFC challenge on the rooftop of the Eiffel Tower on the Las Vegas strip. Atomic plot 

In Atomic, Max (Alfie Allen) is a drug-trafficker working his way around the Middle East while Mohammed (Shazad Latif) is on the run from those wanting to kill him. Both are in need of redemption but as the strangers run into one another in the Libyan desert, they become swept up in a Venezuelan cartel’s plot to transport uranium capable of fuelling a nuclear bomb. Pursued by a highly-skilled and ferociously determined CIA agent (Samira Wiley), M16 and a network of traffickers, the pair are faced with the prospect of being the good guys for once. But do they risk their lives to save the world?

Atomic cast — Alfie Allen on playing Max

Alfie Allen plays free-spirited drug-trafficker Max. He says: "Max is a free-spirited drug trafficker making runs through the Middle East, but this is interrupted by a crazy stunt literally in the first 30 seconds of the show,’ reveals Alfie, 38. ‘His car flips over, and that’s where he meets this man who Max calls “JJ”, because he won’t reveal his name.

"I was drawn to the role of Max because he’s an “odd one out” in the drug trafficking world. He’s a somewhat misguided soul. He struggles to fit in, and has to adjust to his surroundings. His journey with JJ really appealed to me. He’s the chalk to JJ’s cheese – an idealist who wears his heart on his sleeve. He’s constantly pushing for connection, even when it’s unwelcome.

"The most challenging scene to shoot was probably my first day on set, which was the car crash. There was a lot of dust and debris being chucked around, and fans blowing sand into the car, but it looks great!

"I had a lot of driving training on this job, which I enjoyed. I drive four cars: a 4x4, a two-wheel drive pickup truck, a Mercedes and a Range Rover. Viewers should tune in to Atomic because it’s an intense, passionate story about these two different characters who are grappling with their past and thrust into a chaotic journey. It’s hilarious how they deal with it, but also delicately handled by everyone involved.’

Shazad Latif on playing Mohammed

Shazad Latif plays Mohammed, who is a man haunted by his past. He says: "JJ doesn’t give a lot away – this is a character who doesn’t even reveal his name until the last episode!’ notes Shazad, 37. 

"He obviously has a haunted past, though. He has been in the desert for a few years and has been told he can never return home to the UK, so you have to understand how that would affect someone mentally. He’s in survival mode. He knows he’s probably going to die out here, and that makes him very dangerous.

"JJ and Max don’t like each other immediately, but they realise that they need each other. They are constantly shoved together in high stakes, but at times comedic, situations. Both characters have done bad things, and the whole theme of the show is them looking for redemption.

"I really enjoyed the physical scenes. I play a lot of sport in real life, and I grew up watching action movies like Predator [1987] and Demolition Man [1993], so it’s a joy to be able to do this as an adult. I had a month of training involving practicing with guns, boxing and doing workouts. It was intense, but I loved it.

"Alfie and I hadn’t worked together before, but when we realised we were both football fans, we suddenly had a connection – and Euro 2024 was on while we were filming in Morocco, so a lot of us would watch that to decompress at the end of the day."

Samira Wiley plays CIA agent Cassie, a highly skilled scientist and a Non-Official Cover (NOC) officer.  She says: "Cassie is a NOC, or Non-Official Cover, CIA agent [meaning she operates using a fictional identity that doesn’t link her to her home government], who has been working at the American University of Beirut for at least four years without seeing any action,’ shares Samira, 38. ‘So when JJ and Max come to where she is, she’s immediately ready to pull out her gun and join the race!

"I think all of the characters are addicted to danger. Cassie puts herself in an immense amount of jeopardy, and that’s what makes her interesting. It’s crazy to me for someone to give up their entire history and go out risking their life all the time, but I guess there are people who are just like that.

"The physical training for the role was extensive; I thought I was in shape, but I was not! Even the warm-ups were torture, but every day I was getting stronger. I know I wouldn’t have been able to do all of the running and jumping off things without it. 

"It was very hot in Morocco, I believe it was around 47 degrees Celsius for a while. I’m used to filming in Toronto [in Canada, for her role as rebellious Moira Strand in US dystopian drama The Handmaid’s Tale], where it’s so cold that I’m having heat packs put in my costume. But when it’s this hot, you can’t really do anything about it!’

The Magic Faraway Tree follows a family that moves to the countryside. Before long, the children discover a magical tree which is home to some extraordinary characters including Moonface, Mr Whatzisname and Silky the fairy. At the top of the tree they are transported to fantastical lands and, through their adventures, the family learns to connect for the first time in years. 

The Magic Faraway Tree cast — Claire Foy plays mum Polly

Claire Foy plays the children’s mum Polly in The Magic Faraway Tree. She’s best known for playing Queen Elizabeth II in the series The Crown from 2016 to 2023. She played Lisbeth Salander in The Girl in the Spider’s Web and has also starred in The Lady in the Van, All of Us Strangers, A Very British Scandal, First Man, My Son, Wolf Hall, Upstairs Downstairs, Little Dorrit and White Heat.  

Andrew Garfield plays dad Tim

Andrew Garfield plays Polly’s husband Tim. He took on the iconic role of Spider-Man in the 2012 movie The Amazing Spider-Man and has also played him in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man: No Way Home. He’s also starred in the Channel 4 drama Boy A, tick, tick, BOOM!, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Under the Banner of Heaven, Doctor Who, The Social Network and Hacksaw Ridge.  

Rebecca Ferguson plays Dame Snap

Rebecca Ferguson plays the terrifying headmistress Dame Snap in The Magic Faraway Tree.  Rebecca has starred in movies such as Dune, Mission Impossible and The Greatest Showman, plus hit TV dramas such as Silo.

Who else is starring? 

The inhabitants of the tree, capable of transporting visitors to fantastical far-off lands will be played by Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton, Derry Girls) cast as beloved woodland fairy Silky, Nonso Anozie (Sweet Tooth, Ted Lasso) as self-appointed group leader Moonface, Jessica Gunning (Baby Reindeer, The Outlaws) as Dame Washalot and Dustin Demri-Burns (Slow Horses, The Great) as Saucepan Man. Rounding out the cast of the magical denizens of the woodlands will be Mark Heap (Friday Night Dinner, The School for Good and Evil) as Mr Oom Boom Boom and Oliver Chris (Trying, My Lady Jane) as Mr. Watzisname.

British icons Sirs Lenny Henry, Michael Palin and Simon Russell Beale play a trio of mystical wise men from the Land of Know-Alls. Jennifer Saunders also has a role as the children’s ruthless Grandma. Laurence Olivier Award-winner Hiran Abeysekera (The Life of Pi, The Father and The Assassin) will star as the Angry Pixie, one of the magical denizens of the woodland, and Pippa Bennett-Warner (Gangs of London, See How They Run, Chloe) plays Grandma’s assistant, Hannah.

The Magic Faraway Tree is filming in 2025 and is written by Simon Farnaby, the comedy actor who plays the trousers-down Conservative MP Julian Fawcett in Ghosts. He's previously written Movies such as Wonka and Paddington 2.

Neal Street Productions and Elysian Film Group are behind the movie and filming gets underway in the summer of 2024.

Academy Award-nominee Pippa Harris (Empire of Light, 1917, Call the Midwife) and Nicolas Brown (Britannia, Informer, Penny Dreadful) of Neal Street Productions are producers alongside Danny Perkins (Greatest Days) of Elysian Film Group.

Tamara Birkemoe’s US and UK-based Palisades Park Pictures is handling worldwide sales, with CAA Media Finance co-repping US rights, and will present the film at the European Film Market in June 2024.

Legendary children’s author Enid Blyton wrote a collection of Faraway Tree books. She first introduced us to the magical tree in her book "The Enchanted Wood" in 1939. She then penned "The Magic Faraway Tree" (1943), "The Folk of the Faraway Tree" (1946) and "Up the Faraway Tree" (1951). The series follows three children who venture into an enchanted forest and discover a magical tree full of eccentric characters. And at the top of the tree they can access incredible lands such as The Land of Birthdays, The Land of Goodies and The Land of Take-What-You-Want. However, some lands, such as The Land of Dame Slap, are not so much fun and the children often get stuck in them.  

A League of Their Own: Mexican Road Trip is another hilarious special edition following on from the team's South East Asia adventure. This time it’s all sombreros, mariachi bands and tequila in the epic four-part trip, as captains Jamie Redknapp and Jill Scott go head-to-head with teammates Mo Gillligan, Micah Richards and comedian Maisie Adam, as they attempt sporting challenges with a Latin twist.

That means getting stuck into everything from Mexican-style horseriding and Lucha Libre wrestling to roller-skating at Mexico City’s famous Day of the Dead parade!

Micah Richards says: "It was always going to be difficult to match Vietnam, Singapore and Thailand from the last Road Trip, but we had a brilliant time. As a kid, you always say ‘I want to go to Mexico.’ I suspect I would never have gone to Vietnam or Singapore otherwise but was glad I did. I'd been to Thailand before because of football. We had an unbelievable time that was hard to beat. But Mexico was amazing."

A League of Their Own Mexican Road Trip — destinations, challenges and what happens

While A League Of Their Own host Romesh Ranganathan gets to relax at home (although he does narrate the series!), the gang, including Jill Scott, Jamie Redknapp, Maisie Adams, Mo Gilligan and Micah Richards, fly out to Mexico for some fun in the sun. 

But as the Blue Team and Red Team go head-to-head across the series, with the ultimate loser taking on a thrilling but terrifying forfeit, expect plenty of mickey taking, drunken antics and bad language! Spicy! 

The gang will learn the art of Lucha Libre wrestling, complete with shiny costumes and comedy ring names, before showing off their skills in front of an excited crowed at the Arena Mexico. Across the series they also rollerskate at the Day of the Dead parade in Mexico City, rock climb in Guadalajara and take penalties in front of 60,000 football fans. There’s also baseball, horseriding and scuba diving, plus plenty of tequila and a mariachi band surprise!  But the loser will be forced to face a giant bungee swing across a desert canyon in a terrifying forfeit!

Jamie Redknapp on A League of Their Own Mexican Road Trip

Jamie Redknapp says: "There’s something about travelling that I’ve always loved. All of a sudden, I’m going to places I never knew existed. As much as I love the filming, I almost enjoyed the evenings just as much, where we all went out for dinner and might have had a nice tequila, being in Mexico… Getting to be there with Jill, Micah, Mo and Maise was great, and it’s fun getting to meet different people. Road Trip has become a big part of my life now. 

"I’d never been to Mexico before, and I’ve always wanted to go. I had no idea what it was going to be like, but it was unbelievable, so vibrant. We got to do so many cool things, the people were friendly, and the food was incredible. It’s one of the nicest places I’ve ever been to. 

"The Lucha Libre wrestling was amazing. Micah loves wrestling anyway, and he really came into his own – and the size of him! He really took it seriously. I’d hurt my back so couldn’t get involved with that challenge too much, but it would have been a brilliant thing to do. I designed the outfits which was a lot of fun. Getting to see Jill, Maisie and Micah get stuck into the matches was fantastic. 

"Baseball was good fun, we really enjoyed doing that in front of a large crowd. Mexico loves its football but is a big baseball community, too. We had a guy called Manny who taught us how to play and took a real shine to Jill! 

"The Day of the Dead parade was the most incredible thing. Everyone’s seen Daniel Craig there in James Bond! We got fully made up with the face paints and outfits and looked incredible. 

"Scuba Diving was fun and could have gone either way because we couldn’t find the sea lions that we were supposed to be underwater photographing - they were nowhere to be seen! I think we ended up having to pay some to come and do a bit-part in the end! Luckily enough we did find some eventually. Everyone else was scared to get in the water and I felt like David Hasselhoff for the first time in my life! 

"Tequila drinking… that was a challenge that wasn’t a challenge, being asked to drink it all day! Micah and I, unfortunately, took it to a new level. I blame him, though he’ll probably blame me. We had so much fun, we didn’t stop laughing all day, it’s one of the best ALOTO challenges I’ve ever done. I don’t even know who won it, I can’t remember - I can’t even remember the next day either!"

Bookish is a stylish crime drama starring Mark Gatiss and Polly Walker. Set in London in 1946, the series is created by Mark Gatiss himself , and he's also the main star playing gay antique book seller Gabriel Book, who helps the police solve crimes by finding the answers to puzzles in the thousands of books that line his shelves.

Bridgerton's Polly Walker plays his wife Trottie while the show also boasts a stellar line-up of guest stars including Daniel Mays, Tim McInnerny, Joely Richardson and Jonas Nay.

Bookish starts in the UK on the UKTV channel U&Alibi, with an opening double bill on Wednesday July 16 2025 at 8.10pm and 9pm. Double episodes will then run weekly each Wednesday at the same times. All six episodes are available as a full box set on Sky Box Sets and NOW from July 16.

Bookish plot 

Bookish is set in London 1946 and follows the eccentric and unconventional Gabriel Book (Mark Gatiss) who owns an antique bookshop but is also a self-appointed detective to the local police, acquiring all the knowledge he needs from the books around him. Gabriel surrounds himself with loveable, damaged misfits who he informally protects, cajoles, and mentors. He cares deeply for his wife Trottie (Polly Walker) who runs the wallpaper shop next door. However, theirs is a "lavender marriage" designed to hide Gabriel’s sexuality at a time when it was illegal to be gay.

Gabriel is happily married to his childhood best friend Trottie in an arrangement that suits them both. However, when Book hires a new assistant, Jack (Connor Finch), who’s just been released from prison, what will he make of his boss’s unconventional set-up?

The two-part opening story, which guest stars Daniel Mays and Rosie Cavaliero, sees Book helping the police investigate the death of local chemist Mr Harkup. Inspector Bliss (Elliot Levy) assumes the death was a suicide, but Book isn’t sure, and gathers evidence suggesting Harkup was murdered.

Mark Gatiss plays the hero of Bookish — bookseller and sleuth Gabriel Book. "Post-war London is my favourite period," says Mark. 'It’s such an interesting time - the whole world has been turned upside down, and nobody knows their place any more. It’s very exciting, but also kind of frightening.

"Every detective has their own thing, and Book’s is that he can draw on all the world’s books - either physically, or in his head. It’s difficult to come up with something that hasn’t been done before, but the fact that he’s gay and in an arranged marriage is unusual!"

Mark Gatiss reveals his new series Bookish started as a book

* Mark Gatiss previously shot to fame with the comedy show The League of Gentlemen and has also starred in Nighty Night, Funland, Wolf Hall, Sherlock and Game of Thrones. He’s appeared in Doctor Who, Good Omens, 3 Body Problem, Operation Mincemeat, Nolly and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.

Polly Walker on playing Trottie Book

Look out for Polly Walker playing Gabriel’s colourful wife Trottie Book. She says: "All marriages are very different. It’s not a sexual marriage. They are best friends. They get on. They have a similar sense of humour, similar interests. That’s what unites them. I would say they are both outsiders. Trottie less obviously so but she is most definitely different and is prepared to be a bit of a crusader on some level for women. Not that she knows that. She just lives life how she wants to. I guess Book admires that.

"I was struck by Trottie's overwhelming warmth and generosity and positivity, which is nice because I often don’t play those sorts of parts. She is such a good egg without being sickly sweet. She’s her own person. Strangely it is a very good fit for me. I said to Mark Gatiss when I saw him, ‘I can’t believe that you’ve seen the goodness in me.’ My family does. My husband does. But generally, in casting I’ve played a lot of baddies."

* Polly Walker has previously starred in Bridgerton as Lady Featherington and played Delphine in Mr Selfridge. Polly has also starred in Line of Duty, Pennyworth, Prisoners Wives, Rome and The Syndicate.

Episode 1
It’s Jack’s first day as Book’s assistant. But excavation of a nearby bomb site means the business of bookselling takes an instant back seat. Because the bomb site is full of skeletons! Jack soon realises his new employer has an unexpected sideline: solving murders. Before Jack can even unpack, let alone get his head round Book’s eccentric filing method, another body is found - the local chemist, Harkup, is found poisoned in his shop. The affable Inspector Bliss thinks it’s suicide. Book has his doubts. Jack’s soon making tea for witnesses, examining clues and getting much closer to the police than a recently released prisoner might want to. Daniel Mays and Rosie Cavaliero are guest stars.

Episode 2
The investigation by Book and Bliss into the chemist’s death continues as Book discovers some surprising evidence in the case of the bombsite skeletons. With multiple suspects in the frame, a missing jade figurine, and an unexpected beneficiary in Harkup’s will, Book needs all his ingenuity and his crack team of helpers – Trottie, Jack, Nora and ever-helpful Labrador, Dog, to fit the pieces of the puzzle together. The Law must take its course. But over whom does the shadow of the gallows lie…? Tim McInnerny guest stars.

This is because as part of the aforementioned deals, Sky sometimes reduces the cost of your first month of a subscription to £0.

What you need to know about Sky TV deals

Former EastEnders star Danny Dyer has joined the cast of new Sky Original comedy series Mr Bigstuff.

The six-part comedy arrives in the Spring and promises to explore "broken families, fragile masculinity and... carpet sales."

He's starring alongside Ryan Sampson in the new series, where the duo play estranged brothers Glen and Lee. Glen is a carpet sales manager who wants nothing more than to live a mundane life in the Essex suburbs, but when his older brother Lee arrives on the scene, chaos soon follows.

Sky has described Lee's arrival as "Danny Dyer style havoc", teasing that he's brought their dad's ashes in a biscuit tin, and that they work together to try and sort out their issues while dealing with moments from their past that come back to haunt them.

Lee needs to navigate life alongside Glen and his fiancée Kirsty (Harriet Webb), which has been described as "a perfectionist, a fantasist and an anarchist all living under the same roof", so nothing could possibly go wrong, could it?

A first-look image from the series sees Danny Dyer and Ryan Sampson posing in the carpet shop where Glen works, and it's already very clear these brothers couldn't be much more different.

The synopsis adds: "Glen and his fiancée Kirsty share a perfect, perfectly mundane life together. Sure, Glen’s got crippling erectile dysfunction and Kirsty has a secret shoplifting habit, but they’re happy. That is until Lee comes crashing into their lives, whilst on the run from a past that’s quickly catching up with him."

Danny Dyer is best known for his role as Mick Carter in EastEnders, a role he said goodbye to in 2022. Following his disappearance, he is assumed dead, following almost a decade of dramatic storylines.

Throughout his years on the Square, Mick learned that his sister Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) was actually his mother, finally married the love of his life Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) before then marrying Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) in shocking scenes.

Following his exit, he hosted the Channel 4 reality series Scared of the Dark and Cheat on Netflix, as well as starring in Channel 5 thriller Heat.

Mr Bigstuff airs on Sky Comedy in Spring 2024. 

Rob and Romesh vs F1 is the latest outing for the two comedians, where they packed their bags and headed off to the glamorous Monaco for the famous Grand Prix.

Filmed during the 2023 Monaco race, Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan were given pit lane access to get up close and personal with the Mercedes team, including British racing drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, as well as team principal Toto Wolff.

This two-part series documents Lewis' last season with Mercedes, with him having signed a contract with Ferrari, moving to join the Italian racing team in 2025, replacing driver Carlos Sainz.

With Rob and Romesh previously exploring things such as the NFL, K-Pop, ballet and most recently a festive outing in Rob and Romesh vs Lapland, F1 is just another subject they want to learn more about, guaranteeing plenty of laughs along the way.

Rob and Romesh vs F1 premise

In the special, Rob and Romesh learn all about the ultra-competitive world of Formula 1 motor racing. As the highest class of international racing, it is high pressure, which they will find out for themselves!

During their time at the famous Monaco Grand Prix, which takes place in Monte Carlo, they hang out with team Mercedes including team principal Toto Wolff, who puts them through their paces to see if they have what it takes to come work for the team.

However, neither are Formula 1 experts, and so hilarity was inevitable and there was plenty of goofing around and trying to one-up the other. Romesh also learned a very interesting fact about his co-star.

In an interview with us, Romesh teased: "While we were down there we learned that Rob can’t drive a manual car, so we decided to teach him how to. He had no idea how to change gears and I ruthlessly took the mick out of him for that. 

"We found a field and I gave him lessons, which ended up being one of the funniest elements of the whole show. There was a big ditch in the field and I was praying he would crash into it!"

What else should we expect from the series?

While there, the duo got to interview Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, two British racing legends who have been teammates at Mercedes. There, they got the opportunity to ask the duo more about their experience. 

Joking about interviewing Lewis, Romesh said: "We tried something a bit different for that interview with the Louis Theroux approach, but it backfired on me a bit. 

"I won’t say any more, but I think it would be accurate to say Lewis Hamilton didn’t bond with me as much as he did with Rob. I’ll be honest, I feel regret, because he probably walked away with a much worse opinion of me than he had before he met me."

What is Sky Essential TV?

If you're purely interested for the basic Sky TV offering, you’ll want Sky Essential TV.

This includes subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery Plus, as well as a Sky Stream streaming dongle and access to Sky Atlantic.

Sky Atlantic is a video-on-demand library which largely consists of big-budget TV shows from the US and UK. The headline-grabbers are HBO shows like Game of Thrones, The Last of Us and The Penguin but there are more like The Day of the Jackal and Sweetpea.

The Sky Essential TV plan doesn't include live channels. For that, you'll need plans that have...

What is Sky Ultimate TV?

Ultimate TV is offered in Sky's pricier plans, in lieu of Sky Atlantic, although if you're on Ultimate TV you can see all of Sky Atlantic's offerings.

The bonus with Ultimate TV is a slew of live TV channels, both Sky-made and third-party.

The Sky channels include Sky Witness, Sky Max, Sky Comedy and Sky Documentaries.

On top of that you get popular channels like Comedy Central, National Geographic and MTV. In total there are over 140 channels, 12 of which are Sky's ones.

What are the extra Sky TV packages?

Sky Sports

The main package is Sky Sports, which lets you access 11 different channels with 24/7 sports coverage. They are:

Sky Cinema

If you’re less into sports but love a good movie, the Sky Cinema package is perfect for you. It’s priced at £11 a month and gives you the benefit of over 1000 HD movies on demand, plus its where you'll find all Sky Original movies.

This bundle costs £32 a month plus set-up and nets you the whole gamut of Sky Kids content. With the Kids package,you get 8 Kids channels, 10,000 on-demand episodes of Kids shows and hours of educational content to boot.

Plus, you get access to the dedicated Sky Kids App, which allows your little ones to stream shows and play games on the go. You can also create individual profiles for each child on the app, and keep them from accessing inappropriate content with Kids Safe Mode.

The Netflix Upgrade package is simple. While the base package has Netflix included, it's for the Basic tier.

You can upgrade to Standard for £4, which gets you 1080p streaming and extra screens to stream on, or Premium for £8, which offers 4K streaming and even more screens.

UHD & Dolby Atmos upgrade

For £6 per month on top of your package, you unlike the ability to stream in UHD and with Dolby Atmos.

UHD is a video resolution which equates to 4K, so if you have a 4K TV or screen this option will let you make the most of it. Dolby Atmos is for high-quality audio that'll let your new soundbar shine.

Ad skipping

Finally, for £5 per month you can buy the ability to skip ads, so you don't have to watch through them when you'd much rather be watching TV or a movie.

FAQs

Is there a free trial?

Although there is not a Sky TV free trial, you will be making savings on your monthly entertainment subscriptions by combining Netflix with on-demand Sky Originals and box sets. There aren’t many providers out there which provide such a diverse range of content in mix-and-match bundles.

Can you get Sky without a dish?

If you order a Sky TV package with the Sky Q set-top box (the newer version of the older Sky TV box), you will be prompted to book an installation when you check out. On the day of your installation, the engineer will bring along the Sky Q box, the satellite dish, remote, cables, and so on.

However, if you don’t want to get Sky with a dish, you have some alternative options. One is going for a Sky Glass TV package — the Sky Glass is a special TV that has Sky included, so all you need is a WiFi connection.

Another choice is NOW, Sky’s subscription-based internet TV streaming service. You can buy access using passes — for example, the Entertainment pass is £9.99 a month and provides both live and on-demand TV.

With NOW, you can stream content from your smartphone, tablet or laptop — or cast it to your smart TV. If you really don't want (or can't) have a Sky dish on your building then alternatives to consider are BT or Virgin Media.

Do I need a Sky box if I have a smart TV?

The only smart TV which will connect to Sky without the Sky Q box is the Sky Glass, which has been specifically designed to stream Sky content. Any other smart TV will require both the Sky Q box and a satellite dish in order to get your package up and running.

Why should I become a Sky TV customer?

Sky is a top choice for consumers across the UK, and for good reason. It provides a convenient and all-encompassing range of packages to suit every taste, whether you prefer the latest cinema releases or in-depth live sports coverage. Rob Beckett’s Smart TV is a Sky Max comedy quiz show about the best and worst of TV, with celebrity guests and team captains Alison Hammond and Josh Widdicombe with whom Rob co-presents the podcast Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe’s Parenting Hell.

Rob Beckett’s Smart TV — how it works

Host Rob Beckett will oversee team captains Josh Widdicombe and Alison Hammond in a fast and furious panel quiz game. Each week Josh and Alison will team up with celebrities and compete against one another to win madcap TV trivia-based rounds. These frantic TV-themed games – including Roll the Titles, Happy Endings and The Showdown – to test how much they really know about what’s on the box! 

The first week's guests are Jon Richardson, actor Russell Tovey, presenter Stacey Dooley and TV personality Jamie Laing.

"The Showdown sees a player from one team go up against all three of the opposing side, answering questions about their TV obsession," Rob told us. "The teams sit closely facing each other, so there might be a Doctor Who fan nose-to-nose with David Tennant. Even if you know the answers, having actual Doctor Who in your face is off-putting!’

And the atmosphere gets pretty tense… "The players care about winning,’ enthuses Rob. ‘Josh especially gets annoyed if he's losing. He got really competitive with actor Daniel Mays on Only Fools and Horses."

Rob reckons he’d be ruthless playing the game. "My TV obsession would be the original series of The Office,’ he reveals. ‘I’d happily go up against creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant but I’d have to do my homework!"

All about host Rob Beckett

Stand-up comedian Rob Beckett co-presents Rob & Romesh Vs, alongside Romesh Ranganathan. He narrates Celebs Go Dating and appears on Celebrity Gogglebox. In 2021 he presented the show Rob Beckett’s Undeniable and took part in The Great Celebrity Bake Off for SU2C. He’s a team captain on 8 Out of 10 Cats and hosted the spin-off show I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! NOW. He’s also had roles in Cinderella, Fresh Meat and Meet The Richardsons.

Team captain Alison Hammond

Since appearing on Big Brother in 2002, Alison Hammond has become the queen of British TV. She presents The Great British Bake Off and This Morning and in 2022 competed in The Masked Singer UK as Witchetty Grub. Alison had a long-standing role as a member of Loose Women and was a contestant on Strictly in 2014 and I’m A Celebrity… in 2010.

Comedian Josh Widdicombe is a regular presenter on the popular Channel 4 show The Last Leg. From 2015 to 2017 Josh starred in his own self-titled comedy series Josh.

In Sky’s festive fable The Heist Before Christmas, James Nesbitt and Timothy Spall are reunited more than 20 years after they appeared together in the film Lucky Break, which also started with a bank robbery. 

Set in Nesbitt’s native Northern Ireland, the feature-length story centers on troublesome lad Mikey (Bamber Todd) and his more innocent younger brother Sean (Joshua McLees), who live with their hard-up single mother Patricia (Laura Donnelly). 

When they encounter two chalk-and-cheese Santas in the woods near their home, the siblings are in for a Christmas adventure they will never forget. 

One, played by Nesbitt, has just robbed a bank, while the other, played by Spall, claims to be the real Santa Claus, and says he has fallen out of his sleigh. But with Mikey keen to get his hands on the robber’s cash, and Sean still a true believer in Father Christmas, which Santa will come out on top?

Funny Woman season 2 plot 

Funny Woman season 2 sees Sophie Straw frustrated as she's fed up with being the comic muse in old school comedy shows. She tries branching out into art house cinema in the hope it will be more progressive but finds that is not the case either. Undeterred and as determined as ever, Sophie decides to create her own comedy show where she can tell her own stories and get her authentic voice heard. 

She is the nation’s favourite TV comedy star — she’s got a group of good friends and her romance with Dennis is full of promise. But trouble is just round the corner: Dennis's divorce will take three years; Sophie’s new sitcom flops and she uncovers a devastating family secret. Sophie escapes the turmoil by taking a leading role in a film opposite a glamorous French movie heart-throb. The film is a hit and Sophie’s slick new US agent offers her a fresh start in Hollywood…  

But Sophie returns to London, determined to get the gang back together and to create a new show which reflects her real life, challenges outdated cultural conventions and proves that she and her mates are Funny Women!

Gemma says of Funny Woman season 2: "Sophie has what she's always wanted, but she doesn't have her team. She loves Dennis but he’s married and there are problems with his divorce and whether they can be together, as the press are interested in her."

Funny Woman — season 1 recap (with spoilers)

Based on Nick Hornby’s bestselling book Funny Girl, series one of Funny Woman saw brash, brainy and beautiful Barbara leave Blackpool and move to London to make it as an actress. However, the 1960s were not the place for a woman to be taken seriously and she faced misogyny (and often worse) at every turn. But with her natural humour and lovable nature, Barbara soon forced her way into a mainstream TV sitcom and her alter-ego Sophie Straw was born. Barbara fell for her egotistic co-star Clive Richardson (Tom Bateman) but left him when he cheated on her. Eventually she realised she was meant to be with her kindly producer Dennis Mahindra (Arsher Ali). 

Funny Woman season 2 — returning cast

Gemma Arterton, who plays lead character Barbara Parker again, shot to fame as Strawberry Fields in the Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. She’s also been in The Boat That Rocked, The Disappearance of Alice Creed, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Their Finest, Black Narcissus and The King’s Man. 

Arsher Ali is back as producer Dennis while Alistair Petrie returns as Ted Sargeant, plus David Threlfall and Rosie Cavaliero played Barbara’s father and aunt, George Parker and Marie Parker. Alexa Davies is back as Marjorie Harrison as are Matthew Beard Bill Gardiner, Leo Bill as Tony and Clare-Hope Ashitey as Diane.

On Season 2, Arsher Ali reveals: "Dennis and Ted Sargent have fallen out. They've had a master and apprentice relationship. The apprentice, Dennis, turned on him because he really wanted to fight to have Sophie in the show and respects her ideas and vision. In series 1, Sophie convinced him to give her a show called ‘Just Barbara’. But unbeknownst to Dennis and the boys, Tony and Bill, Dennis goes off to sign a contract with the rival network. Then, at the end of series 1, Dennis finds the courage to tell Sophie how he feels, and there's a nice moment where they kiss for the first time. So, we're coming straight off the back of that… they're not working together. There's the major spanner in the works of Dennis’ divorce – to all intents and purposes, he is still a married man. 

"In the first episode of series 2, the wheels are in motion. Dennis and his wife, Edith, visit a lawyer. Edith is the one who's been adulterous to all intents and purposes but can't admit it. It would be quite devastating for her in a societal way as in this era it would absolutely ruin her career and reputation. There were no such things as no fault divorces back then. The only way to get around it is to be legally separated for three years and then it warrants a kind of automatic divorce. 

"Sophie's character is a bit like ‘who cares? Let's just do it anyway’ – but then for Dennis, he thinks ‘if I do this, if you were ever seen with me – a married man, it would ruin your career’. Dennis worries Sophie would be dragged down. He does not want to do that, as much as he loves her. There’s an element of self-sacrifice, of true love, which is great to play."

Rob and Romesh vs Lapland is sending comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan to the freezing Arctic Circle, in some outlandish Christmassy costumes! In Rovaniemi in the Arctic Circle they'll brave temperatures of below minus 20C. The pair are training at Lapland’s Elf Academy to become Santa’s little helpers. 

Under the guidance of head elf Vanilla, they will complete a series of tasks including reindeer racing and an "Elf baptism" where they must completely submerge themselves in a frozen lake. And only then will Santa decide whether they are worthy of joining his Christmas army. 

“I don’t do well in the cold, and I don’t like animals, so I’m not in a good place here, am I?” says Rob. "I’m the new Romesh. I’ve grown a beard, I’ve got glasses and I’m miserable." Small Town, Big Story is set in a small town in Ireland with a big secret to hide. And things get tough when a Hollywood production decides to shoot a movie on their doorstep, threatening to uncover truths that have stayed hidden since the turn of the Millennium.

Small Town, Big Story plot 

Small Town, Big Story follows the residents of Drumban, a small rural village on the border of Ireland and ‘another world’, who have been keeping a huge secret since the eve of the Millennium. But then a big Hollywood production team, with top producer Wendy Patterson (Christina Hendricks) arrives to film an epic drama in the village and throws the area into the spotlight. Can the residents, a collection of ‘rattled misfits’, keep long-buried truths from being revealed to the world? 

The locals often meet in The White Ridge bar (see pictured below), a quintessential Irish pub at the heart of the village. A gathering place for a band of Drumbánian oddballs. There's a mystery llama involved too (see main picture above).

Christina Hendricks plays local girl done good Wendy Patterson, who’s now a Hollywood TV producer who returns to Drumbán after over 20 years, having left there under something of a cloud. 

Christina says: "Small Town, Big Story is about a town in rural Ireland. It becomes the location for this big Hollywood production.  It's all about location. I play Wendy, a film producer who is coming back to her hometown. I bring this big Hollywood production to this small place that’s never experienced anything like this. So, it's my old world and my new world combining. The story is about the town's reaction to having Hollywood on its doorstep and a studio and crew adapting to being in this small town. And then, of course, there's a spin on the fact that there's also something else happening which involves several of the characters and Wendy’s past.
"We meet Wendy in California, in Los Angeles. We see a little bit of her surroundings, her home, and we get to know her just a little bit. There are some little clues about her lifestyle. We quickly find out that she's got this work opportunity. A new producing gig back in her childhood home in Ireland for this big studio called History with a Twist. Its’ a bigger project than she's ever worked on before. So, it's a big deal for Wendy. You will discover that she might just be a little bit in over her head. She's learning as she goes, but she's really trying to have this confident pose about herself, saying, "I got this," but as the story progresses things really start to fall apart for her a little bit.
In Small Town Big Story, we have a lot of flashbacks to the millennium and a teenage Wendy and Seamus. We see Wendy’s adolescence back in Drumbán. They capture those sort of awkward teen moments but beautiful moments you have growing up. She’s young, a gothy rock'n'roll teenager interested in Seamus with the world at her feet. I think the Wendy I play remains that person a little bit, but you start to see that maybe she felt a little bit like an outsider back then. The flashbacks are all moments in her life that revolve around the time something rather significant happened in her life. (She had this alien abduction.) So young Wendy and adult Wendy are not too far apart; they are very similar and have experienced this event that really changed her trajectory.
"Wendy starts out very trepidatious about going home to Ireland. It's been over 20 years, she's completely reinvented herself in LA with her job, but she has this opportunity to bring this big production back home.
She thinks, if she's ever going to go back and confront her past, if she's going to have a relationship with her father again and really put to bed her negative feelings about this hometown, this is the time to do it.  And why not come back as a big Hollywood producer with this big fancy show and say, "Hey, look at me, I'm back," in such a grand way. She starts off on this journey to confront her past and finds out very quickly that it's not as satisfying as she hoped it would be. All the channels she’s using to try to reconnect with people from the smalltown are falling apart here and there. Her whole plan is not working; the production is not going well, the relationships are not going well, and then there are all these signs of the otherworldly events, that happened before are happening again. So, there's this uncertainty of what's going to happen next, all around her."

Chris O'Dowd says: "I'd been looking for something to set in the northwest of Ireland. I'd previously shot in Boyle before with Moone Boy, and I always wanted to go back, but never got around to it. I suppose I was looking for a ‘Small Town’ story but this time I wanted to make somewhere up – ‘Drumbán’. 

"Then a producer friend got in touch with me. They had been watching something I had written and had enjoyed it, so he asked me if I wanted to work together. He was working in Northern Ireland when they were filming Game of Thrones, and we ruminated on the phone about what a fun story it would be, one about a small town and what it might look like after a big show production had left. That was the initial idea. Then in development I did a rewind and thought about what that town would look like beforehand too.

"I had also just reread a play called "The Visit" by Frederick Dürrenmatt. It's a complex revenge story which is an interesting journey for its lead character to go on. I wanted these two ideas meshed, those two elements, and then I thought it also needed a secret that characters could keep or not keep. That’s the part about aliens, which has always been a big part of my experiences in Boyle anyway. Even when I created Moone Boy we had an episode about an alien - Boyle was the UFO capital of Europe. I feel the idea is all in those things together."

Most football fans had the Bills and Chiefs pegged as Super Bowl contenders at the beginning of the campaign, but with a month of the regular-season to go, they're looking far from convincing. Smothered is a new comedy series on Sky that follows strangers Sammy, played by Danielle Vitalis, and Tom (Big Boys and Plebs’ actor Jon Pointing). They share a drunken night together and then agree to have a short-lived fling — on first name terms only with no strings attached! Smothered plot 

Smothered follows Sammy (Danielle Vitalis) who is a fiercely independent woman who grows sick of useless men, so she decides to ditch dating apps and have a good time instead. She meets Tom (Jon Pointing) in a bar, and they bond over bad karaoke before sharing a night of passion. Then, in what seems like a good idea, the pair decide to have a commitment-free affair for three weeks before walking away from one another forever. But neither Sammy nor Tom can ignore the very real sparks between them. Then, Sammy makes a shocking discovery that Tom has another woman in his life — his six-year-old daughter Ellie. 

Smothered cast — Danielle Vitalis on playing Sammy

Danielle Vitalis plays Sammy, who wants some meaningless fun in Smothered. 

Danielle says: "Sammy is a young woman of the world. She’s an aspiring interior designer and works under a woman called Raina. She has big dreams and big hopes, but there’s also the little thing of life, having to live it, paying rent, being happy, not thinking about body image too much and questioning your place in the world...

"At the beginning of the series, Sammy is like ‘wiggy, wiggy, wiggy’ but by the end she wears her natural hair in a bun. I think it speaks to the nature of the character growing into herself. There’s lots that she doesn’t like at the beginning, and won’t stand for, but her non negotiables change as she realises life isn’t like that and you don’t get everything you want when you want it. And you find out that you don’t mind some of the non-negotiables.

"I don’t often laugh when I’m watching things or reading things, but I actually laughed when I read the script for the first time. I’ve done quite a bit of comedy and I find that it’s always funnier after you’ve filmed it and the editors have added all the magic to it, but this script was actually funny on paper."

* Danielle Vitalis previously played the teen Arabella in I May Destroy You and has also starred in Black Mirror, Famalam, Murder, They Hope, Youngers and Stath Lets Flats. She’s also appears in the movie The Great Escaper. 

Jon Pointing on playing Tom

In Smothered, Jon Pointing plays Tom, a man with baggage as he has a wife Gillian daughter Ellie which Sammy doesn't know about during their first meetings. 

Jon Pointing says: "I was drawn to Smothered as it offered me the opportunity to play a mature role. It was a different tone than what I’m used to playing but I enjoyed playing someone who was an adult with responsibilities. Primarily, Tom is a young dad. His daughter Ellie is nine years old, so his life has been on hold while he has focussed on being a dad and keeping a job that enables him to take care of her. He’s a nice guy, but he’s lost his personality a little bit. His life has ran away with him and he’s lost a bit of a spark.

"Sammy is that spark. She is fun and exciting. Tom might have been a party boy in the past, which had to stop when he had Ellie. He sees his old self in Sammy, as well as an opportunity to have a bit of fun again. Throughout the series, he’s torn between having fun with Sammy and enjoying himself and being pulled back by his responsibilities that come with being a dad. Tom is quite serious, and he’s not shy of commitment. His life is full of commitment already, so he’s ready for the relationship. He doesn’t have time for the games that are being played at the beginning of the series. It’s almost nauseating, he’s constantly ready to be this responsible dad guy.

"Tom is rusty at dating so that’s where the humour comes with him. He’s like “I can still have fun, I’m cool” but he proves not to be. He’s out of touch and out of practice. He’s got used to his life with his daughter and there’s lots about that he really likes and doesn’t want to change. He doesn’t not want to have a daughter. It was an accident but a happy one. On one hand, he realises that he needs to start living his own life and have fun, but he doesn’t want to forget about his daughter either. He develops a newfound appreciation for his life as the series goes on."

* Jon Pointing previoulsy played Jason in the popular Roman-era comedy Plebs and has also starred in Channel 4 series Big Boys, plus Starstruck, Pls Like, Crying Out Loud and Down from London. He is appearing in the BBC1's Agatha Christie adaptation Murder Is Easy over the Christmas 2023 season.

Harry Trevaldwyn says: "My character Jordan is one of Tom’s best friends from work and I think we’re probably similar in the way we respond quite strongly to things. Jordan has glitzier tops than I do though and wears more mustard yellow than I probably would. It was nice doing it with Tessa because it really felt like we were work best friends. Being able to play off someone as brilliant as Tessa was lovely."

Jordan Stephens says: "Max is Danielle’s ex and is the rebound guy, the afterthought, so I’d like to believe that I have a tiny bit more social awareness and self-respect. Max is also a chef, and although I’m a good cook, I couldn’t call myself a chef in the slightest. My character was a flannel to be honest, he’s just soppy."

Episode 1
Sammy has just about given up on love and the struggles of modern dating, until she meets Tom. Tom’s also disillusioned, but their chance encounter leaves him open to an unconventional proposal from Sammy. Their relationship can only be a three week, no details affair, and once it’s over they go their separate ways. Sammy and Tom struggle during their time apart. Sammy backpedals on the agreement and reaches out to Tom, only to find out he has a daughter.

The unexpected revelation of Tom’s 6-year-old child could be too big an obstacle for Sammy, who’s never wanted kids of her own. Tom realises he’s fallen far out of step with his former friends and tries to forge a new friendship with another dad at school. Sammy’s first proper attempt at babysitting Ellie is a harsh introduction to the realities of parenting. Sammy has trouble being honest with Tom about an old flame.

Episode 5
It’s opening night for Gillian’s restaurant and nerves are high. Raina doesn’t know about Sammy and Tom, and tonight is not the night for her to find out. Olivia’s marital troubles cause her to act out. Gillian and Sammy connect over the recent changes to their family unit. Sammy’s anxious about her place in Tom and Ellie’s life, and the realisation that Tom hasn’t legally divorced Gillian doesn’t help.

Episode 6
It’s nearly Christmas, and Sammy and Tom’s relationship is hanging in the balance after the marriage revelation. Sammy’s anxiety around their relationship proves to be too much for Tom to handle. They spend the holidays apart but are both encouraged to try again and share their true feelings. But is a big romantic gesture enough to bring them back together in time for Christmas?
