Few things are more fun than a great comedy, and the 2025 new movie lineup got just that very early on when One of Them Days premiered in movie theaters back in January. The hilarious Keke Palmer-led movie quickly became one of the best things I’ve watched this year, but if you haven’t seen it yet it just got a whole lot easier as One of Them Days is now streaming on Netflix.

Hitting the streaming platform in the US on March 31, One of Them Days stars Palmer and SZA, making her acting debut, as best friends and roommates Dreux (Palmer) and Alyssa (SZA) that traverse their Los Angeles neighborhood as they search for a way to scrounge up their rent money to avoid getting evicted after Alyssa’s oblivious boyfriend has blown it. Meanwhile, Dreux is on a ticking clock as she attempts to get to an interview that could change their outlook moving forward.

One of Them Days is one of the best reviewed movies of the year. You can read the official WTW One of Them Days review for our official take, but the critical consensus from Rotten Tomatoes has the movie at a “Certified Fresh” score of 94%, while general audiences also loved the movie, making it “Verified Hot” at 90%. It also has had box office success, currently sitting as the seventh highest grossing movie of 2025 after three months; fourth highest grossing for movies only released in 2025 (some December 2024 movies racked up big money early in 2025).

The secret sauce for One of Them Days is the fantastic comedic chemistry between Palmer and SZA. They are each hilarious together, with a natural rapport that instantly makes you root for their friendship and enjoy their little quirks. But they do more than just make you laugh, as their character’s emotional journey through the movie is given the time and space to flourish in between the laughs (which barely stop coming in this 97 minute movie), making the movie a more satisfying experience altogether.

Palmer and SZA aren’t the only standouts though. The One of Them Days cast is littered with familiar faces and relatively new ones that make this such a hilarious watch. Lil Rel Howery, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Maude Apatow, Janelle James and Keyla Monterosso Mejia all have their moments. But in my opinion the two supporting standouts are Katt Williams as the advice-giving unhoused Lucky and Aziza Scott as the scorned and vengeful Berniece.

Credit must also be given to director Lawrence Lamont, who put all the pieces together while also infusing his own bit of style to the movie, and screenwriter Syreeta Singleton, who penned many of the great lines that will have you busting out laughing. The fact that One of Them Days is each of their feature movie debuts is all the more impressive.

One of the best-reviewed 2025 new movies, and my personal favorite of the year so far, is now available to watch at home, as One of Them Days has landed on digital on-demand platforms.

Starring Keke Palmer and SZA, One of Them Days follows two best friends Dreux and Alyssa as they go through the ringer in trying to procure their rent money after Alyssa’s boyfriend spent it on himself, Dreux tries to prepare for a big job interview and they draw the ire of some dangerous and chaotic characters in their Los Angeles neighborhood. Vanessa Bell Calloway, Lil Rel Howery, Katt Williams, Maude Apatow, Patrick Cage, Janelle James and Aziza Scott also star in this movie that was written by Syreeta Singleton and Lawrence Lamont.

My One of Them Days review called the pairing of Palmer and SZA as “undeniably terrific” and key in what makes the movie such a laugh riot. Others felt the same way too, as One of Them Days is “Certified Fresh” (by critics) at 95% and “Verified Hot” (by audiences) on Rotten Tomatoes. Now you can watch it for yourself at home via various digital on-demand platforms (it is still playing in movie theaters if you prefer to see it on the big screen).

One of Them Days isn’t the only new movie to digital on-demand platforms worth mentioning. Two-time Oscar nominee Nickel Boys (Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay) is also now available to buy or rent via digital on-demand platforms. This adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel tells the story of two young Black boys that have to navigate the difficulties of a reform school in 1960s Florida. Nickel Boys is also “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes, earning a score of 90%.

Nickel Boys now joins six of the other 10 Best Picture nominees for the 2025 Oscars to be available either on-demand or on streaming platforms in the US. So, ahead of the ceremony’s March 2 event you can now watch Anora on digital on-demand, Conclave on Peacock, Dune: Part Two on Max or Netflix, Emilia Perez on Netflix, The Substance on Mubi and Wicked on digital on-demand. The Brutalist, A Complete Unknown and I’m Still Here are still playing exclusively in movie theaters.

Fair to say, there are some great new movie options to watch right now.

Danny Boyle put his stamp on the zombie movies with the classic genre entry 28 Days Later in the early 2000s. Now, more than 20 years later from the original (and nearly 20 from the last entry in the franchise), the director is back to show where things are in the dystopian England that he created with the 2025 new movie.

28 Days Later premiered in 2002 to universal acclaim (“Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes), quickly enshrined as one of the better zombie movies ever made. A sequel, 28 Weeks Later, was then released in 2007. While missing Boyle and star Cillian Murphy, the movie was still well received (“Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes). But Boyle is returning to the franchise with this latest movie, so what can fans expect?

28 Years Later cast

A new group of actors are going to lead this new entry to the franchise, namely Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes.

Taylor-Johnson is no stranger to big franchises, having starred in Kick-Ass, Godzilla, Avengers: Age of Ultron and has been speculated as a leading contender to be the next James Bond. Most recently he has starred in The Fall Guy and Nosferatu. We don’t know his character’s name in 28 Years Later at this time, but the trailer reveals that he is one of the main survivors that the story focuses on.

Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes are also expected to be among the main group of survivors featured in the movie. Comer, best known for her role in Killing Eve, Free Guy and The Last Duel, was last seen in The Bikeriders. Fiennes, meanwhile, is a two-time Oscar-nominated actor (perhaps three-time very soon for his performance in Conclave), also of course known for playing Voldemort in the Harry Potter movies.

Other confirmed members of the cast include Jack O’Connell (Rogue Heroes) and Alfie Williams (His Dark Materials).

Original franchise star Cillian Murphy has been reported as returning to the franchise with this latest edition, but he is not mentioned among the credited actors in promo materials (he is listed as an executive producer). However, the internet was abuzz as the 28 Years Later trailer, which you can watch below, appears to feature a zombie that looks a lot like Murphy. Could his character Jim finally have succumbed to the virus?

In addition to Boyle returning to the director’s chair, original screenwriter Alex Garland returned to write 28 Years Later. This marks the third time that Garland and Boyle have worked closely together, though Boyle adapted one of Garland’s books, The Beach, as well. Garland is also an Oscar-nominated writer for Ex Machina, while his other credits include Annihilation, Men and Civil War.

28 Years Later behind the scenes

28 Years Later is the first of a planned trilogy of new movies set in the zombie universe that Boyle and Garland have created. In fact, according to reports, the second entry — 28 Years Later II: The Bone Temple, directed by Nia DaCosta — was shot back-to-back with 28 Years Later.

Another behind-the-scenes fun fact being reported is that the movie was shot on an iPhone 15 Pro Max. This is akin to the first movie, 28 Days Later, being shot in part on a Canon XL-1, a digital camcorder.

If you’re curious where the movie was shot, reports indicate that portions of 28 Years Later were filmed in Bradford in West Yorkshire, England.

Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Releasing are the big studios behind 28 Years Later, made in association with Decibel Films, DNA Films and the British Film Institute.

Sony's much-maligned superhero movie Morbius has climbed into Netflix's Top 10 movies... is the Jared Leto-led movie finally finding its fans? 

For those not in the know, Morbius is the latest installment in the Sony Spider-Man Universe. The movie wasn't exactly received well the first time around, but it's now claimed the number two spot in Netflix UK's Top 10 movies, suggesting it might be getting a second chance. 

At the time of writing, that means the only movie getting more interest on the platform is Lift, the new Netflix heist movie starring Kevin Hart, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Vincent D'Onofrio. Morbius' ranking is particularly impressive when you consider it's ranking well ahead of some acclaimed releases, including the recently released movie Society of the Snow, a real-life thriller that's already getting Oscar nods, and Denis Villeneuve's six-time Oscar-winning sci-fi epic, Dune.

The movie follows Dr. Michael Morbius (played by Jared Leto), a scientist who suffers from a rare blood disease. After injecting himself with an experimental serum to try and cure his condition, he gains all the superhuman abilities (and the thirst for blood) associated with vampires.

In addition to Leto in the title role, the movie features House of the Dragon star Matt Smith as Morbius' surrogate brother, Lucien, a figure who wholly embraces his vampiric powers after gaining them. Further stars include Adria Arjona as Dr. Martine Bancroft, Jared Harris as Dr Emil Nicholas, and Tyrese Gibson as Simon Stroud. 

Netflix is often where movies get a second chance at finding their audience; a Liam Neeson thriller that flopped at the box office managed to snap up the number one spot just last month. However, even though plenty of people are checking it out, Morbius might have a tougher time being reappraised by newcomers, judging by the critical reaction the movie received first time around.  

At the time of writing, it has a 15% critics' rating on Rotten Tomatoes, from a collection of more than 250 reviews. In What To Watch's Morbius review, our writer found little to praise; they called it 'a bland, poorly directed, poorly written mess of bad VFX and shoddy editing that wastes its otherwise talented cast on a movie that can't even be enjoyed for camp appeal'. Yikes.

Some viewers must have found something to like about Morbius, though, as the RT audience rating for Morbius is significantly higher and currently sits at 71%. Sony also still believes in the SSU, too, as the franchise is due at least two more installments, with both Madame Web (fronted by Dakota Johnson and Anyone But You's Sydney Sweeney) and Kraven the Hunter (starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson) due to hit theaters later this year.

The Spider-verse continues to expand on the big screen, with Madam Web being the latest movie for fans to enjoy. This new character joins the lineup of Spider-Man-related characters and projects (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Kraven the Hunter, Venom 3) that Sony is producing as part of a deal with Marvel.

Described as one of Marvel's "most enigmatic heroines," Madame Web brings the clairvoyant character to the big screen for the first time, as well as some other classic comic book characters. While this is expanding the Spider-Man world Sony has been building, the studio stresses that Madame Web is a standalone story and bills it as much a psychological thriller as it is a superhero movie.

Madame Web made her first appearance in a Marvel comic book in 1980, but the Madame Web movie marks her big screen debut. It won't just be the introduction of the clairvoyant heroine though, as a trio of characters who are key Marvel figures in their own right also appear in the movie.

With a script written by Claire Parker and S.J. Clarkson from a story by Kerem Sanga, here is the official synopsis for Madame Web from Sony Pictures:

"'Meanwhile in another universe…' In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing's most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures… if they can all survive a deadly present."

Dakota Johnson stars Cassandra Webb, aka Madame Web. Johnson first really popped on screens in The Social Network, but has since gone on to star in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, A Bigger Splash, Suspiria, The Peanut Butter Falcon, The Lost Daughter, Cha Cha Real Smooth and Persuasion. This is Johnson's first foray into the superhero genre.

The three young women destined for bigger things in the movie include Sydney Sweeney (Anyone But You, Euphoria) as Julia Carpenter, Celeste O'Connor (A Good Person, Ghostbusters: Afterlife) as Mattie Franklin and Isabela Merced (Rosaline, Father of the Bride) as Anya Corazon.

The rest of the cast features Tahar Ramin (Extrapolations, The Mauritanian), Mike Epps (The Upshaws, You People), Emma Roberts (American Horror Story, We're the Millers) and Adam Scott (Severance, Parks & Rec).

Who is S.J. Clarkson?

In addition to co-writing the script for Madame Web, S.J. Clarkson is the director of the movie. This actually marks Clarkson's feature directing debut, but she is by no means a newcomer to the industry.

Clarkson's resume includes directing episodes of some of the biggest TV shows in recent memory. Her list of credits includes Succession, Anatomy of a Scandal, Collateral, Vinyl and Orange is the New Black. She also has superhero experience, directing multiple episodes of the Marvel TV series Jessica Jones and The Defenders.

Spider-Man fans will be waiting a little longer to see Kraven the Hunter. Following on from the animated delights of Across the Spider-Verse, this new live-action movie will tell the story of how one of the web-slinger's most fearsome opponents came to be.

As the title suggests, the latest Spidey spin-off follows Sergei Kravinoff — better known as the titular villain, Kraven the Hunter — a big-game hunter who is best known for wanting to bring down the wallcrawling superhero in order to prove himself as the most capable hunter on the planet.

Action star Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Bullet Train) is in the driving seat in the title role. At CineEurope, he lauded praise on the character, calling him "one of Marvel's most iconic, notorious anti-heroes" and "Spider-Man's number one rival". However, we should expect a slightly different take on the character, as Taylor-Johnson described his version of Kraven as an "animal lover" and as a "protector of the natural world" (reported by Collider).

Sony released the movie's official red band trailer for what will be the fourth movie in their Spider-Man spin-off universe after Morbius and the two Venom movies earlier this year. Unfortunately, they've recently pushed the movie's release back by nearly a year.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson isn't the only star set to appear in the new Spider-Man spin-off.

Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe (Gladiator, Les Miserables) is on board as Kraven's father, and West Side Story star Ariana DeBose is on hand as Calypso, a voodoo priestess and Kraven's love interest in the film. Christopher Abbott has also been cast as The Foreigner, the film's primary villain.

Finally, Alessandro Nivola (The Many Saints of Newark, American Hustle) is on board as The Rhino, whilst Fred Hechinger (The Fear Street trilogy, The White Lotus) is playing Kraven's half-brother, The Chameleon, and Levi Miller (A Wrinkle in Time, Pan) plays the younger version of Taylor-Johnson's character.

We speculated that Kraven the Hunter would be an origin story like Venom and Morbius, and that's exactly what's we're getting. Here is the official synopsis for the movie:

"Kraven the Hunter is the visceral, action-packed origin story of how and why one of Marvel's most iconic villains came to be. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Kraven, a man whose complex relationship with his ruthless father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), starts him down a path of vengeance with brutal consequences, motivating him to not only become the greatest hunter in the world, but also one of its most feared."

We do know that it's set in the same universe as that of Venom, Morbius and Madame Web.

As of December 13, Kraven the Hunter is rated "Rotten" by critics on Rotten Tomatoes, though 69% of audiences expressed that they enjoyed the movie.

Welcome to the big screen Jared Leto’s Morbius, the latest Spider-Man villain (or more accurately in this context anti-hero) that will receive his very own standalone movie. 

Because of some complicated details surrounding character rights between Sony and Marvel, Morbius joins Venom and other planned Spider-Man spinoffs that are more adjacent to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU, but as No Way Home showed us, that doesn’t mean characters can’t cross over now and again.

So, with all that in mind, here is everything that we know about Morbius.

Morbius will premiere exclusively in movie theaters on April 1.

The journey for for Morbius to get to the big screen has been a long one. Initially, Sony was planning to release Morbius in July 2020. Of course, the pandemic caused many movies to delay their planned releases. For Morbius, it was originally moved to March 19, 2021, before being pushed again to October 8, 2021. However, Sony eventually put Venom: Let There Be Carnage in that October date and pushed Morbius to January 2022, ultimately to January 28. One more push moved Morbius for the final time to its April 1 release.

Morbius reviews

Morbius is not getting a very warm welcome. What to Watch's Morbius review calls the movie a "bland, poorly directed, poorly written mess" that sucks the life out of Sony's Spider-Man universe.

Others aren't being any more forgiving. Morbius currently (as of March 31) has a 16% "Rotten" rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 37 on Metacritic.

Is there a Morbius post-credit scene?

Yes, there is a Morbius post-credit scene. Would it be a superhero movie if there weren't?

In fact, there are two post-credit scenes, but they both happen while the credits are rolling, so you won't need to stick around to the very end in fear of missing anything.

Who is Michael Morbius

Michael Morbius is a classic example of a Marvel character who started out as a tragic villain only to eventually become more of an anti-hero.

Michael Morbius begins as a brilliant scientist, but he suffers from a rare blood disease. In an attempt to find a cure, vampire bat DNA is mixed into his blood, transforming him into a pseudo-vampire with a lust for blood. Originally, Morbius was a villain for both Spider-Man and Blade, but he eventually became a vigilante who strives to satisfy his need to consume blood by stalking bad guys.

From all of the early footage of the upcoming Morbius movie, it certainly looks like the character is staying pretty close to that origin, though will likely more immediately be targeting bad guys as his primary prey.

Morbius plot

Morbius is a good old-fashioned origin story for the character, though we do know that there will be some larger allusions to the superhero universe Sony is building with other Spider-Man villains/anti-heroes, most notably Venom.

Here is the official plot for Morbius:

"Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?"

Oscar-winner Jared Leto stars as Dr. Michael Morbius in the movie, another dip into the superhero pool for the actor.

Leto portrayed The Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad and then got to reprise the role in an epilogue scene in Zack Snyder’s The Justice League that was released on HBO Max in 2021. Leto made his Joker an unhinged character and infamously continued his character’s antics even when the camera’s weren’t rolling.

The character of Morbius isn’t a straight villain or as wild as Joker, but he is still a character with a unique background that will allow Leto to make some interesting choices. His affinity for such characters extends beyond the superhero genre, as he gave a very large performance in House of Gucci.

Leto is the lead of the movie, but he’s got a solid supporting cast behind him, including a major actor already familiar with the Spider-Man universe.

Among the Morbius cast are Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim: Uprising, True Detective), Jared Harris (Foundation, Chernobyl), Matt Smith (Last Night in Soho, Doctor Who), Tyrese Gibson (Fast & Furious) and Al Madrigal (The Way Back, The Daily Show).

As for the actor with the Spider-Man connection, Michael Keaton is appearing in the movie in an expected reprisal of his role as Adrian Toomes, aka The Vulture, who was the primary villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming. With the divisions between Sony and Marvel universes, we’ll have to see if this is the same or a different version of Toomes, but Keaton’s appearance in Morbius is part of Sony’s continued push to create a connection between all these movies.

Daniel Espinosa served as the director of Morbius. The Swedish filmmaker got his start in Hollywood by directing the 2012 Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds thriller Safe House, followed up by the Tom Hardy-led Child 44 and the sci-fi movie Life, which starred Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal and Rebecca Ferguson.

What is Disney+?

Disney+ is a streaming service from the "House of Mouse" that is finally letting fans into the castle to watch favorite TV shows and movies in one place. There are about 500 movies and 7,500 episodes of TV shows available to stream through Disney+ that is constantly growing.

With AirPlay 2 support these TVs will be able to wirelessly receive video and audio from a range of Apple devices, while HomeKit support adds the TV to the Apple Home app on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. That also opens up a world of Home automation that wasn't previously available as well.

This update doesn't bring the Apple TV app with it, unfortunately. Hopefully an announcement on that front will arrive sooner rather than later.

The app isn't something that users can manually install, though. Instead, it's being rolled out to TVs via a Sony firmware update so if you don't see it yet, hang tight. Sony has announced pricing and availability information for its new Master Series TVs, as well as other 2019 models. Over 8 million self-illuminating pixels are precisely and individually controlled by Sony's Picture Processor X1™ Ultimate.

The Master Series A9G 4K TVs will start arriving in stores in May with the 55" and 65" sets, starting at $3,499.99. The 77" set will launch in June. Sony will also be releasing the 8K Z9G Master Series televisions in 85" and 98" in June, for at $12,999.99 and $69.999.99, respectively.

Sony's lower-end X950G 4K TVs are already available, though are currently in limited stock. Starting at 55" for $1,399.99, the X950G is also available in 65" and 75" models, with an 85" model coming in late April.

Sony says that AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support for these new TVs will arrive at some point this summer.

Samsung was first to declare . Then LG and Vizio . But the big question regarding integration of Apple's AirPlay 2 and Homekit? That was whether Sony would be on board — or even have the option.

It was a big enough surprise that Samsung — Apple's arch enemy in the phone space — would see two relatively core iPhone and Mac features come to its products. But Samsung at least has its own semi-proprietary operating system inside its TVs in the form of Tizen.

Sony's Bravia sets? They run Android TV. And Android TV is pretty tightly controlled by Google. So you see where we might have some doubts.

But at its annual press event at CES, Sony let it be known that AirPlay 2 and Homekit indeed would hit three of its TV lineups — the Z9G Series, A9G Series, and X950G Series "later this year."

Sony Z9G Series, A9G Series and X950G Series TVs will be compatible with Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit3. AirPlay 2 lets you effortlessly stream content from your iPhone, iPad and Mac right to your Sony TV. Watch movies and TV shows from iTunes and your other video apps, and view photos directly on your Sony TV. Listen to Apple Music, your iTunes music library, podcasts and your other music services on your television and AirPlay 2 speakers throughout the home — all in sync. HomeKit lets you easily and securely control smart home products using the Home app or by asking Siri on your Apple devices. These TVs can be added to the Home app and included in scenes or automations with other HomeKit accessories. For example, users can create a "Movie Night" scene in the Home app to easily turn on their TV and dim the lights, and simply ask Siri to launch the scene. AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support will launch in Z9G Series, A9G Series and X950G Series later this year.

It's not the first time we've seen an Apple feature on an Android-based product , of course. Who doesn't remember the HTC 10, with its three-fingered swipe that would trigger the fully licensed instance of AirPlay (1), allowing you to kick things over quite seamlessly to an Apple TV.

Sony's Pico Projector is a pocket-sized portable video projector that weighs less than a single pound, and right now it's on sale at Amazon for its lowest price ever of $299 . Today's sale is the first time it's ever dropped below $330; it's usually sold for $359.

The Pico can project up to a 120-inch screen, works as a short-throw projector, and offers automatic Keystone correction.
