Sonya Rebecchi wants to reconcile with estranged husband Toadie in Neighbours! But will she? That’s what we asked Eve Morey…

While Sonya Rebecchi isn’t quite ready to relight the fire of her once-passionate marriage to Toadie, she is slowly starting to send out encouraging signals in Neighbours.  Which is confusing, as she has virtually given her blessing to the potential fling between her husband and Amy Williams!

“Sonya sees Toadie and Amy together and she thinks they could make a go of it,” Eve Morey told Soaplife. “But, actually, what she really wants is reassurance from Toadie that she’s the only woman for him!”

But is she?

So why doesn’t Sonya just tell Toadie how she really feels? “They really have to find their way back to each other slowly after all that’s happened in their lives. It’s been an incredibly harrowing six months or so for Sonya. She does say something when it becomes clear that Toadie only sees Amy as a friend. She tells him she wants to start their relationship counselling sessions again. Toadie’s thrilled, but he manages to keep his emotions in check. Sonya just wants to take things very slowly.”

What happens at their first session? “Communication between the two of them isn’t easy, which just goes to show what can happen in a relationship if issues are not dealt with as they occur. Sonya’s still finding it very hard to forgive Toadie over the fake Dee Bliss discrepancy and the issues with Willow Somers.”

Will they get back together? “Hopefully! Ryan [Moloney, who plays Toadie] and I would be happy about it because we love working together. But there’s still a very long way to go before they’re back to being how they were. And who knows what might happen in the future? In Ramsay Street, you can never take anything for granted!”

You’re having a baby in real life… How will Neighbours cope with that? “There’ll be lots of close-up shots of Sonya and she’ll suddenly start to carry a very large handbag in front of her wherever she goes! When I eventually go off on maternity leave, Sonya will probably go off and visit her son, Callum.”

Toadie starts to become increasingly worried as Sonya continues to isolate herself from the rest of the world in Neighbours.

Knowing he needs to act fast before things escalate any further, Toadie comes up with an idea and gets in touch with Sonya's son: Callum.

Life couldn’t get much more hellish for Sonya Rebecchi at the moment. Her husband, Toadie, hot-footed it to London in pursuit of the woman he believes to be his back-from-the-dead first wife, Dee Bliss, and the girl he believes to be his daughter, Willow. Then there are problems with the baby girl Sonya’s carrying for Mark Brennan, who is secretly in love with her. “I’m not saying what exactly happens with the baby, but events connected to it only heighten her feelings of frustration towards Toadie,” Sonya actress Eve Morey tells Soaplife. “Although Toadie returns to Erinsborough full of remorse, Sonya can’t bear to be with him. She feels he wasn’t there for her when she really needed him.”

Does Sonya not have any feelings left for husband Toadie? “Never say never. Her heart will always be with Toadie [Ryan Moloney]. It’s just hard for her to be with him right now, considering what he did. But maybe, in a strange way, what has happened with her and Brennan’s baby will make her realise that her marriage is worth saving after all. You’ll have to wait and see about that.”

Toadie’s desperate to win her round… Is there any chance he can do that? “At this point in their relationship, it’s going to be very difficult. Sonya’s trust in her husband and her marriage is totally shattered, and it’s hard to see what Toadie could do to make things up to her. Sonya can’t forgive him, which is hardly surprising in the circumstances.”

What about Brennan (Scott McGregor)? Does Sonya have feelings for him? “She likes him very much. Sonya wears her heart on her sleeve – so much so that it may look like she has feelings for him – but she certainly doesn’t mean it in any sort of romantic way.”

But will their shared experience with the baby cement a bond? “Sonya and Brennan are best friends and they share a newfound intimacy because of the baby they’re having. However, even when she has doubts about the marriage to Toadie, it’s simply not in Sonya’s make-up to cheat on him. She’s simply not like that.”

If she and Brennan did get together, would it be a rebound thing? “If such a thing ever happened it would most definitely be a rebound thing for Sonya. Absolutely!”

What do you think Sonya should do after everything that’s happened? “I think viewers want Toadie and Sonya to be together, and I certainly do!”

Also in London is Karl, but while he pounds the streets in search of his friend, Toadie is in his hotel room with Dee. As she declares her feelings for him, they sleep together, unaware that Sonya is watching on Skype. As her heart breaks Sonya reaches out to Steph - and goes into premature labour!

The next day, Toadie is filled with regret and guilt at his betrayal. As 'Dee' gets ready to leave, Toadie clocks her passport and finally finds out she's not 'Dee' she's actually Andrea Somers… As the cheating lawyer's world implodes there's worse to come in London, and for Sonya in Erinsborough…

We're all agog at the Neighbours' storyline which has seen Dee Bliss –Toadie Rebecchi's wife who was thought to have died on their wedding day back in 2003 – return to Erinsborough alive and well.

Although Dee's story of survival is controversial and has viewers – and the residents of Erinsborough – divided, at the crux of it all, the question remains: does Toadie's heart lie with Sonya… or Dee?

On one-hand, he is married to Sonya. They have a family together and though times have been tricky lately, they're a unit. But on the other, this is Dee, the former love of Toadie's life, whose wedding day clifftop death back in 2003 had Toadie dealing with the fact that he was not only a widower, but that he was responsible for Dee's death.

Actor Ryan Moloney, who is currently in London to discuss the shock storyline, won't say whether he's #TeamSonya or #TeamDee, a viral campaign that is doing the rounds, but he will say where he believes Toadie's heart lies.

"In my opinion it's Sonya. He's had a life with her. Children with her. He's experienced everything with her. Whereas with Dee, she was taken away from him very quickly. They were very young. Toadie and Sonya are older. His feelings of love for Sonya are probably deeper," asserted Ryan.

"As for #TeamSonya and #TeamDee, do people want me to take sides?" said Ryan. "I can't pick a side! Sonya is the mother to his child, Nell. They're currently married. Then there's Dee who he didn't get to experience life with. So, who can you choose?"

Neighbours' Toadie and Sonya reeled as Dee, the lawyer's first wife who supposedly died on their wedding day in 2003, asserted she was in fact alive and well. Not only that, he may also be the father of her daughter!

Tonight's episode of Neighbours saw Toadie Rebecchi find out how his former wife Dee Bliss – who he supposedly killed on their wedding day in 2003 during a clifftop car accident – survived the plunge and is alive and well... In Erinsborough... On Toadie and his wife Sonya's doorstep.

Actor Ryan Moloney, who plays the lawyer, is remaining tight-lipped about whether this spells ultimate doom for his marriage to Sonya, but it's clear there is a ton of Dee-shaped trouble ahead for the Rebecchi couple.

"He can't believe it's her. Dee's dead! There are a lot of questions, and the whole range of emotions: guilt, frustration, anger, sadness, all of it. And he's got no idea how to place any of it," said Ryan.

As the days pass, Toadie starts to accept Dee's story of survival, washing up on shore and being taken in by a woman on the run living 'off the grid', but his wife Sonya remains sceptical.

"Sonya's concerned as to why this person has come back into Toadie's life," said Ryan. "She's wary of this person's intentions and wary of the bond that's formed between her husband and Dee."

As if Dee's resurrection wasn't enough to topple the couple – who are already at odds over pregnant Sonya's decision to become a surrogate for Steph and Mark – there's always the fact that next week, Toadie will find out he's the father of Dee's teenage daughter, Willow, too!

"The fact that he learns she has a daughter [Willow] when he has had problems conceiving as it is, which lead him and Sonya to decide not to have any more kids and Sonya to become a surrogate to Mark and Steph, there's all that aspect to it as well," said Ryan.

"Willow's arrival is absolutely going to make it all more stressful for Sonya and Toadie."

The couple are desperate to get their marriage back on track

Things are tense between Sonya and Toadie so they each ask their best mate for advice at Brad’s barbecue. Sonya tells Mark that she thinks she’s too mumsy - but Mark dispels that. Meanwhile, Steph tells Toadie to stop talking and start doing! So Toadie proposes a solution to Sonya: they get physical every day for 30 days. She’s in and it proves to be just the spark they need.

Lauren suggests a barbecue so he can schmooze Sonya about a new venue for his youth program. As Brad starts inviting people, he realises Jack used to run a similar program up north, and earmarks him as a useful person to have around. When Brad hears that Off Air is shutting down, he leaps on it, and secures Sonya’s in principle go-ahead. Things are looking up for Blaze Outreach.

At Brad’s Barbeque, Jack tells Paige that he needs space to make a decision about their relationship. Reeling, Paige rages to Aaron, swearing that she’s going to turn on all her seductive powers to win Jack round.
