This City is Ours takes a searing look at the world of organised crime in Liverpool and it has already become one of my favourite new dramas of the year!

The eight-part series, airing on BBC One in the UK on Sundays and on BBC iPlayer as a box set, centres on the Phelan crime family, headed up by veteran crook Ronnie, played with a great mix of steeliness and self-doubt by the always wonderful Sean Bean.

When it opens, Ronnie and his gang are riding high, running a successful business bringing in drugs from Colombia to Merseyside. But it’s not long before events take a nasty turn when they renegotiate a deal with their Colombian partners and then their latest shipment goes badly awry, leading Ronnie to think there might be a traitor in his ranks...

As the series progresses, a dangerous battle for power then ensues between Ronnie’s reckless son Jamie (Time’s Jack McMullen), and Michael Kavanagh (A Thousand Blows’ James Nelson-Joyce), who helped Ronnie set up the firm and has been loyally at his side for years.

<div (Jack McMullen) worthy of taking over from him? (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

This may all sound familiar gangster fare, but what I think makes This City is Ours stand out from the crowd is the fact that the criminal machinations, while utterly engaging, are really a backdrop to the fascinatingly complex interpersonal relationships between the gang, their associates, and, most importantly, their partners and families.

The women – always immaculately turned out – who have fallen in love with these criminals are not supporting players, they are integral to the drama, from Benidorm’s Julie Graham as Ronnie’s savvy, strong wife Elaine, to Gavin & Stacey’s and Archie's Laura Aikman as Ronnie and Elaine’s shrewd accountant niece Rachel, who is married to gang member Bobby Duffy (Kevin Harvey) and wants her own say in how the business is run.

Meanwhile, Derry Girls’ Saoirse-Monica Jackson gives a lovely turn as Cheryl, the brittle spouse of another shady Phelan associate, Davy Crawford (Stephen Walters), who appears to be regretting the life she has signed up for.

<figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check Onslow), who have both experienced troubled backgrounds but are now trying to build a happy family of their own by undergoing IVF.

But Michael is horribly torn between his ambitions within the gang and his dream of forging a better, more wholesome life with Diana, and storm clouds are on the horizon…

I have been completely blown away by James Nelson-Joyce and Hannah Onslow, who give electrifying performances full of both grit and vulnerability, which deserve to set them both on the road to stardom.

<figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" delicious and much-needed layer of Scouse humour.

Meanwhile, the Liverpool setting simply shines and is interspersed with the wide and hilly landscapes of Spain, where the Phelans have a villa and where some of their most shocking altercations take place, as you feel the heat rise in sync with the tensions between the gang.

So, suffice to say, I am going to be camped out on my sofa with my phone switched off, following every fabulous twist and turn of the betrayals and backstabbing that the Phelans get mixed up in, and I reckon this glorious gangland extravaganza could run and run.

This City is Ours airs weekly from Sunday, March 23 at 9pm on BBC One and all eight episodes are also available to stream on BBC iPlayer from the Michael, Banksey, Rachel, Bobby, Jamie and Elaine all arrive. They sit around a table and Michael tells them he wants out. Rachel questions how he can walk away and Michael says that as a group they’ve got enough money to pay for 50 kilos of Lemo, and they’ve got that exact amount arriving tomorrow from Ricardo. But, they need to pay today. He says that Bobby and Banksey should take the delivery and then they can cut it however they want, sell it, use the usual lines, which are now Jamie’s lines. Jamie doesn’t believe it.

Michael says he could’ve killed him if he wanted to, and Jamie says that he did kill Ronnie. Banksey says that Ronnie was a grass and could've been the reason Banksey went to a prison, losing his marriage and missing out on his son growing up. Rachel asks what would happen if they didn’t pay Ricardo for the shipment and Michael replies that he wouldn't be very happy. Rachel can’t believe he wants out, but everyone else seems in agreement that they'll pay and move on. Michael thinks Cheryl should have a lump sum, too. 100K. And Elaine agrees. They raise their glasses and cheers the future with a plan in place that profits them all.

Afterwards, Jamie walks off and tells Melissa he doesn’t believe a word Michael says. She shuts him down. But, when Rachel walks past, Jamie tells her not to do anything until they talk. As Cheryl goes to leave, Jamie hears Diana saying she’s coming round to collect her stuff. Meanwhile, Elaine says she believes Michael. When Banksey asks Michael what they’ll do now, Michael says they’ll pay the money and he'll speak to Ricardo.

Jamie has ideas of his own (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Jamie calls Bonehead to tell him what’s going on. He wants him to do something, but doesn't say what. Rachel and Bobby talk about the plan, though Rachel thinks Michael will want back in. She’s angry that it’s Michael’s deal. Rachel meets with Jamie at Elaine's and they both say they don’t believe what Michael is saying, that he'll never really go. Jamie thinks they should do something else on their own. He sends Rachel the bank details for Amsterdam and says they can get 4 kilos for 75k as a sample. If it’s good, they should meet them together. To pay them and not the Amigos, without Michael involved.

As Diana arrives at Cheryl’s house, a taxi pulls up and a man with a balaclava grabs her and takes her inside with another man. Bonehead is driving. As she tries to escape, one of them pulls out a knife and holds it up to her. Meanwhile, Rachel arranges to pay someone, but it’s not clear whether she's going to choose the Amigos or Amsterdam. Elaine brings Bobby a phone from the safe. They get a code to pay. Bobby gives it to Rachel and says she’s done it. Jamie tells his fiancé, Melissa, that they’ve taken Diana and she’s angry at him. He says it’s not over until Michael is gone and she needs to trust him.

Bobby calls Banksey to discuss what they’re going to do with the drugs they’ve now bought. He sees Jamie leave in a hurry and asks Rachel what he’s up to. Bobby calls and asks Jamie and tells him to come back so they can make plans. Jamie says he’s going on a message and hangs up. At the launderette, Bonehead says he’s going to take Diana inside and if she makes a noise, he’ll cut her fingers off. To this, she goes inside quietly. Meanwhile, Rachel calls Jamie and tells her she’s paid Amsterdam and she hasn’t given a penny to the Amigos. Jamie says they’ll cut their drugs and sell it, then head over to Amsterdam themselves.

Upstairs at the launderette, Diana asks Bonehead what's going to happen next. He says she won’t see Michael anymore. When she asks what he means, he won’t tell her. Elsewhere, Michael gets a call from Cheryl who tells her Diana’s car is outside her house, but Diana is nowhere to be seen. Jamie then goes to see Diana. She tells him that Michael will kill Jamie, but Jamie thinks he won’t. To this, she tells him that Michael killed Ronnie. She tells him that she saw him do it and Jamie says if she’s lying, he’ll kill her. He asks her if his dad saw it coming and she tells him that Ronnie opened his eyes. She tells him he’s got a fiancé and a baby and that he can’t ruin it. He says he won’t, not for him.

Michael goes to see Cheryl. Jamie texts him asking if he’s looking for his bird and Cheryl tells him not to answer. She says he should call Elaine, but then Jamie calls him. He tells him he’s going to send Michael a film. It’s of Diana, confirming they've got her. Cheryl asks if she can help, but she wants to know where Davy is. While he says it's not the time, she says it is because now he knows how she feels. He tells her Davy is in Spain, but that he’s in a hole in the ground at Ronnie’s.

Elaine calls Jamie. She says Michael just called her and told her what he’s done. Bobby says it was all settled and he says it wasn’t, not until he blows Michael out of the water, and hangs up. Bobby asks Melissa where he would've taken Diana, but she doesn’t know and goes upstairs. Rachel follows her and asks her where Jamie is because she entered into a deal with him. Melissa asks her why she would do that when things were going back to normal, and Rachel says the new plan wasn't going to include her. He asks Ricardo if he’s been paid and he says no. But, he checks again and says the transaction has gone through. Then, it cuts to Rachel who has just sent it. Banksey wants to talk about the night before when Ricardo detonated an explosive device on his car, but he says to pass it onto Michael. He wants straightforward business, no grey area. The attack was a wake up call. Banksey says his son was in the car, but Ricardo says he keeps his kids at home. Banksey stops himself from saying anything else and leaves.

Jamie comes to speak to Bonehead and tells him that Michael phoned Elaine. Michael calls him and asks him what he wants and Jamie says he wants him gone. Michael says not to touch Diana or he’ll kill them all. He tells Jamie to let her go, but Jamie admits he doesn’t want to lose again. He says for Michael to save Diana, he needs to top himself. A life for a life. Jamie instructs Michael to tell him where and when and he’ll watch. If he does this, Jamie will let her go. He tells Michael that all the lads fancy her, too. Michael tells him that Ronnie would be ashamed of him. But Jamie insists that's what he wants Michael to do, but Michael says he won’t.

To this, Jamie says Michael has until midnight and that Diana told him that Michael killed Ronnie. While Michael says it’s a joke, Jamie says he believes her. Michael insists he wants to speak to Diana on the phone and Jamie hands it over. Michael tells her he’s sorry and that he’ll do whatever Jamie wants to get her out. Diana says he knows Jamie wants Michael dead and that he can't do anything stupid. Michael tells her knows exactly what he’s going to do and then, Diana tells him that she's still pregnant. Jamie takes the phone and congratulates him. Bonehead gets a gun out and shoots at the wall. He tells her he’ll shoot her, so she drops the knife. Jamie tells Bonehead he was supposed to get rid of the gun. Meanwhile, Cheryl goes to Elaine’s. She tells them that Diana hasn’t come for her car and that Jamie called Michael. Elaine reassures her that they’re going to sort it. Bobby gets a call from Michael and they ask Cheryl to step out.

He asks if they’re all listening. He tells them that Jamie’s asked him to be gone, permanently. Michael says he just wanted to walk away and so, he asks them to send Jamie a message from him. He says to tell Jamie that he's got his baby. To this, Cheryl gets into the back of his car holding Jamie’s son and they drive away. He tells Cheryl that Diana is pregnant, so this is an eye for an eye. Now, he’s going to find a tall building.

At the top of a car park, Jamie calls him. Michael tells him that he’ll jump with the baby, but he’ll tell Jamie where he is when he wants to. Cheryl asks if he’ll look after the baby and he says he promises he will. She hands him over and leaves, but before she goes, she says she’ll see him in Spain. They agree and Diana makes it to Michael, whilst Elaine and the baby make it to Jamie. But Michael and Jamie won’t get back in their cars.

Jamie asks Michael if he's happy and Michael says that Jamie has no idea what he wants. Elaine begs that it’s all over, but Michael says it should’ve never started. He tells Jamie he’s carrying, but that he doesn’t have the will to use it. Diana keeps pulling him back to the car, but Michael has one last thing to say. He tells Jamie to look in the mirror and try and find a bit of Ronnie. Angry at mentioning his dad, Jamie pulls a gun out of his pocket and holds it up to Michael. Immediately, Diana throws herself over Michael, but he begs her to move. She says she won’t let go. Jamie shoots into the sky, but Diana stays gripped to Michael. Michael tells her to let go or Jamie will kill her. Desperately, Elaine tells Jamie to look at his baby. Jamie tells her that Michael killed Ronnie, but they still haven't heard him say it. Diana says to Michael, “Tell them.”

Suddenly, Michael shouts that it was necessary. He tells them that Ronnie did the same to Davy because of it, but that they were both wrong. Crying, he says he’d bring him back if he could. Elaine begs Jamie to look at his son and he finally drops the gun down and hands it over to Elaine. Jamie takes his son into his arms instead. Then, Elaine walks over to Michael holding the gun, but she hands it over and tells him that he’s lucky she has a grandchild. She finishes by telling him that she'll come to despise him and this won't be the last of it. Elsewhere, Ricardo is seen heading to his car outside his hotel when suddenly a car smashes into him, running him over. It’s Banksey and he rolls over Ricardo's body in the road with his car, smiling.

All episodes of This City is Ours are available to stream on BBC iPlayer now, or released weekly on BBC One.

But there's problems that run far deeper throughout the gang as they navigate selling drugs, rats, and rival gangs. All with Liverpool as the backdrop. The eight-part series unfolds the intricate web of lies and deceit, while Michael vies for a better life and dreams of raising a child with his girlfriend, Diana. Spoilers to follow for This City is Ours.

Here's a recap of everything that happened in This City is Ours episode 7.

Elaine warns both Michael and Jamie to stop (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

The penultimate episode opens on Jamie reliving the fight in his head. He tells Bonehead and Steven that he wants Michael dead. Bonehead says taking the drugs was smart, but involving guns is different. His friends say they won’t do it and Steven asks to leave as he doesn’t want to be involved. Jamie sends him away. Jamie turns to Bonehead and asks who they can trust to do the job. Bonehead says it has to be Jamie that does it. Reluctantly, Jamie asks for a clean gun. He says he'll use it, but Bonehead has to get rid of it for him.

At Michael’s, Elaine turns up outside. He asks if she’s alone and she says she’s with Rachel. Inside, she asks if he killed Ronnie. And again, Michael says that Ronnie was in trouble with a lot of people and that he knows he was a police informant, which Elaine denies. She wants to know if the feud is going to stop, but Michael says Jamie isn’t playing by the rules. Instead, he tells Elaine to tell Jamie to expect graffiti, son of a grass. She asks him not to hurt him and offers to pay Michael not to. Michael says half of what Elaine has is his, but she offers him everything. She says if you kill him, you’ll have to kill me and leaves.

Back in the car with Rachel, Elaine says she’s going to ask Jamie to walk away. Rachel says he won’t do that because he wants to be Ronnie. Rachel suggests instead that her and Elaine do something to take control of the business. She says they are in charge of the cash and bank accounts. Rachel refuses to give Jamie or Michael the money.

Rachel takes a dominant position in the business (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Banksey calls Michael to tell him the gun will be ready to collect later that day. Michael gets ready and puts on a bulletproof vest. Meanwhile, Rachel, Bobby and Elaine meet and Rachel explains that about half of what she’s put together money-wise is owed to the Amigos for the lost shipment. They can use the other half to buy a new shipment from somewhere. Bobby explains that Michael is the best bet, even if they don’t like it.

Rachel suggests that they do it themselves since she doesn’t want to put the business in the hands of someone she doesn’t trust. Bobby explains that they'll be paying the Amigos off with money that Michael earned, but she argues they all earned it and says Michael's not in charge unless they all follow him. Bobby says Jamie is the source of all the hassle. He tells them both that he can’t be consoled or trusted since he went behind Ronnie’s back. Plus, he agreed to the fight and ignored the outcome. Elaine agrees.

Rachel suggests they set Jamie boundaries. Elaine thinks he will listen, if it means not getting arrested or killed. They agree to involve Jamie’s wife. Meanwhile, Michael calls Diana and she answers. He says he needs to see her to see that she’s safe. He tells her to leave town for a few days, but she asks him to leave her alone, but she’ll call him soon.

Cheryl asks Diana who Michael is afraid of and she tells her it's Jamie. Diana asks her why she's surprised about Davy if she knows what they’re all like? She says Davy had told her he was fed up with the gang, that he loved her and that he wanted a different future. She said he had a big lump of money coming, so she's angry because she believed him, but agrees that she shouldn’t be surprised.

A shooting throws the gang into turmoil (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Elsewhere, Jamie is following Michael in his car. He watches him get petrol with a gun in the seat next to him. As Michael gets back in his car, Jamie pulls up with a balaclava on and shoots at him twice. He misses and Michael manages to drive forward, smashing into a parked car. Jamie gets out of his car and keeps shooting at Michael. He drives off and leaves the car at a garage, wraps up the gun in a bag, and jumps into Bonehead’s car. They pull up and Jamie says he’ll sort the money, talk to the Albanians, cut the drugs and get it out. He hands Bonehead the gun to get rid of.

Elaine calls Jamie and asks him to come to the house. She says she wants to stop Michael. Meanwhile, at the police station, DS Stiles meets with Michael, holding his bulletproof vest with a bullet in the chest in an evidence bag. His superior is there and Michael says he doesn’t know why he was shot at, but he thinks it was road rage. They say it’s unusual that Ronnie’s dead and now someone’s trying to kill Michael. The superior introduces himself as DI Burrows and Michael asks him what the point of this conversation is. He says it’s to stop people like him on the streets.

They ask Michael about Diana and he gets up to leave. They say they could visit her and ask about Spain, Ronnie’s death and what really happened, since she was there. DS Barry Stiles says he’ll go to her work and tell them what company she keeps. At this, Michael is angry and leaves. When he's gone, DI Burrows says he thinks it’s Ronnie’s cocaine that they found in the back of Billy’s car.

Jamie arrives at his mums where Rachel, Bobby, Melissa and his baby are. Jamie says he’s not going to walk away, even though he lost the fight. He says instead he wants to buy a load of cocaine and sell it. When Bobby asks him where he'll get it, Jamie says Bobby knows where. Rachel tells him they’re not handing over a penny until they know where it’s going and how safe it is.

Jamie reveals his plan to deal with the Albanians in Amsterdam, but they want to know what will happen with the Amigos that they owe a lot of money to. Bobby brings up that Michael has already placed another order, but Jamie says it’s Michael's problem. Again, he says that Michael murdered Ronnie, but Elaine says he can’t prove it. Jamie says since the Amigos are Michael’s people, it’s his debt and problem, not theirs.

Ricardo calls Michael to find out who's in charge (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Rachel says that they'll pay the Amigos directly and clear the debt, but cut Michael out of the equation. Then, they can deal with whoever they think is best. Jamie agrees that it makes sense and that they should go with Amsterdam, but the rest don't agree. Then, Bobby gets a call from Michael. He asks after Jamie and tells Bobby to tell him that he missed. When Bobby asks, “Missed what?” He says, “He’ll know.” Bobby asks if he tried to kill Michael and he admits it.

Elsewhere, Banksey goes to meet Michael. Michael tells him he was shot at and Banksey asks if he still wants the gun to take Jamie out and Michael says he deserves it. Again Banksey offers to do it for him, but Michael says it’s his to do. Banksey says they need to find something to sell and if taking Jamie out is what fixes it, then they need to do it. He tells him the gun is at his friend’s allotment, but he’ll need a new car too.

Back at Elaine’s, they tell Jamie to hide, but he won’t. Elaine says she sees why Ronnie kept him at arm's length and he walks out. Rachel then says they need to set up paying the Amigos and they all agree to the plan. Rachel and Bobby say they’ll meet with them and get the debt sorted. Meanwhile, Banksey goes with Michael to pick up the gun and Freddie meets them there.

Michael gets a call from Ricardo asking him whether he knows the debt is being paid. He says that according to the people setting up the transfer, Michael no longer represents them. Michael asks if it’s Rachel he’s talking to and he confirms. Michael says he represents himself, but he should take the money he's owed. He also tells him that he's going to do what they agreed today, but he needs his new order as soon as possible. Ricardo heads back to Rachel and Bobby at the table and confirms the transaction. He says their business is concluded and Bobby asks if they can contact them again in the future and he agrees.

Michael stands a crossroads, deciding which path to take (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Freddie hands over a balaclava, gloves and a car key to his dad. Banksey then hands it over to Michael. Again, he offers to do it, but Michael says no. In the prison, Diana’s mum finds a moment to call her daughter. She says she’s been thinking about what Diana said about wanting to tell Michael and that she thinks she should. But she should tell him she only did it to protect her mother because if she hadn't, her mum would be dead instead.

At Elaine’s, Jamie, Melissa and their baby get in the car. Elaine tells them to be quick, but Michael is already waiting outside in his car to follow them. Melissa says Jamie should be listening to Rachel and Bobby, but he’s just angry at Michael. She says if they can’t find Michael, maybe they should find Diana instead. Michael speeds up and overtakes them. At a red light, he waits for them to pull up behind him.

Michael pulls the balaclava over his face but doesn't move. The light turns green and Jamie starts honking his horn, but Michael waits. Finally, he drives off. But then he drives backwards, smashing into the front of Jamie's car. He gets out and pulls the gun on Jamie. It cuts to black. Then, Michael is driving again and starts punching the steering wheel.

DS Stiles goes to see Cheryl, but Diana answers the door. He knows who she is and tells her he was with Michael yesterday, but there was gunfire involved. She tries to shut the door on him. He stops her and asks about Diana’s mum. This time, she shuts the door in his face. Michael calls Diana and leaves a message. He says he wants to see her and tells her he’s heading to the coffee shop where they usually meet and he'll wait until closing.

Winning Diana over, a warning from Ricardo threatens to ruin everything (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Diana comes to see him. He tries to get close to her, but she sits down in the booth. He tells her he wants to run away with her and that he’s had enough. But she’s mad at him and says she doesn’t want to be lied to anymore. She tells them they can’t be together and they shouldn’t be parents. He insists that he’ll walk away from everything with her. To this, she finally tells him that it was her who killed her dad, not her mum. He asks her if it was necessary, to which she says she's not proud of it. He tells her she should be because he deserved it. Some people do and he understands that. He tells her he loves her.

She doesn’t understand why he wants to go now, but he says he was stupid before. She says she can’t go with him because she’s being realistic. It cuts to the car, when Michael held the gun up to Jamie. He’s looking in with the gun held up and he tells Diana he should’ve killed him, but he couldn’t. He feels like he did the right thing for Diana and him so they could live their lives together. He asks her if she believes him and begs her to say something. She says, “We’d leave tonight?” And she agrees to go with him.

Back at Elaine’s, Jamie tells them what happened and that he’s sure it was Michael. They think they should ask Michael to come and talk. Meanwhile, as Michael and Diana walk along holding hands, a car pulls over and Ricardo gets out. Ricardo asks Michael if he killed Jamie and he says he couldn’t do it and he’s sorry. To this, Ricardo tells him that the order is now imminent, but Michael thought it would've been on hold until he’d killed Jamie. He tells Ricardo he didn't give him his word, but Ricardo gets angry and says he asked me to get it as soon as possible, so he did. He tells Michael the new shipment is arriving in two days. Michael says he can’t accept it. So, Ricardo he tells him to call Banksey. Ricardo tells Michael to ask him where he is, to stop the car and get out, and to walk away. As Banksey does this with his son, the car explodes behind them. Ricardo says there will be no more warnings and he wants the first half payment by tomorrow.

Here's a recap of everything that happened in This City is Ours episode 6.

Following the scene at the wake, Elaine is angry at her son (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

The sixth episode begins with Michael on the phone. He’s telling someone not to cause damage, just noise, to scare someone. Upstairs, Diana takes a pregnancy test and then throws it away. Michael comes into the kitchen and she asks if he’s in charge now, besides Jamie not thinking so. He tells her he’s in charge. She’s worried he’ll have a target on his back, but he says there already is one and there’s only one way to get rid of it. She tells him she’s not pregnant and apologises. To this, he says she doesn't need to be sorry. Then, she questions whether it’s for the best, that maybe they shouldn’t be parents. He hugs her and tells her she’ll be an amazing mother.

Elsewhere, Elaine is angry at Jamie. She tells him he shouldn’t have shouted at the wake. He should’ve told Michael in private or not at all. Rachel comes down and says while she doesn’t know if it’s true, Jamie shouldn’t have told him because he’ll make himself a target now. Elaine reiterates that they don’t know who it is, but that Jamie needs to sort his mess out.

Michael calls Bobby. He asks him to tell Jamie he wants to chat. He wants to meet and talk about what’s next and the fact that they owe a lot of money to the Amigos. The debt is everyone's. Bobby tells him that Jamie won’t come on his own and Michael says he can bring his men in balaclavas, if he wants. As Bobby stops to order breakfast in his car, a moped pulls up and someone smashes his window and drives off. Michael tells him that he did that to him. That he knows wherever Bobby is, whenever, and they need to get this sorted. He says he wants to meet today and Bobby says he’ll get back to him.

Jamie agrees to fight Michael for top dog (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Michael goes to speak to Diana and says he’s brought her stress when the doctor told her to relax. She replies that he should just end it then, especially if they’re going to try again. Michael says he can’t just walk away, that he just needs to take Jamie out so that everyone falls into line.

Elsewhere, DS Stiles goes to visit Cheryl at home. She tells him she’s angry that Davy's friends don’t care that he's gone. He asks her who’s stepping into Ronnie’s shoes, but she says she doesn’t know or care. He gives her a lift and she mentions that she heard at the funeral that Ronnie died in Spain.

Banksey and Michael meet up and Michael tells him he wants everyone to hear what he has to say to Jamie. He gets a text from Ricardo saying that he’s coming to Liverpool that day and wants to meet Diana. They arrive at the meet and Jamie is waiting with all his men, while Michael turns up with his. They sit across from each other at a table and talk about the funeral. Michael says that they need to forget about it and find a way. Jamie says he meant everything he said at the funeral and that Ronnie told him his business is now Jamie's business. That’s what they agreed before he died and what he wanted. He invites Michael to walk away with 250k.

Michael revokes that Ronnie’s business is Michael’s business and has been for 15 years. While we would invite Jamie to stay on as part of the crew, it wouldn’t work. Michael says they clearly agree that one of them has to walk away. To this, Jamie shows him where the door is and his men laugh. Michael says if they can’t agree, then they’ll go to war. As an alternative, Michael suggests they go old school, a straightener. Jamie asks if he wants a fight and Michael says he does. He says that there will be no blades, no shooting, just a fight. Winner takes all. Jamie agrees and says they’ll fight in a cage. Michael says if he loses, he’ll walk away with 250k, but the debt to the Amigos comes with the business and that’ll be his. They shake on it.

For a meeting with Ricardo, Michael ropes in Diana (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Ricardo arrives in Liverpool and Michael goes to meet Diana at work. He says Ricardo wants to meet her, but that they’re friends and he’s on his side. She asks if he’s selling him something and Michael tells her he is. But that he needs the sale to happen, so he needs to act normal and Diana can help him do that. He swears it’ll end and she agrees to come.

At the police station, DS Stiles goes to see his superior. He tells him he’s got an informant on Ronnie's gang in Cheryl. He tells him about Spain, how Davy didn’t make it back, but his superior says he doesn’t want Cheryl as an informant as she’ll be acting out of anger. He asks what killed Ronnie and DS Stiles said a heart attack. His superior tells him that it was brought on by guilt for being a snitch to the police for years and dismisses him.

That evening, Ricardo meets with Diana and Michael. Diana asks Ricardo if his wife knows what he does. There’s tension rising as they talk about their business. When Ricardo asks what Michael is, she says he’s a wannabe Ricardo trying to turn into a grown man. Ricardo asks Diana if she likes the lifestyle and she says, if he means the money, then no, and that she’d like Michael to stop. She loves him and she worries. She tells Ricardo that Michael has a to-do list and Ricardo asks whether it begins with the fight Michael mentioned to him? Diana, not knowing about it, asks what he’s talking about. Michael tells her he’s going to fight Jamie and that it felt like a better option than killing him. She asks what will happen to them if he loses the fight and he says he’ll walk away. So, she tells him to lose. He says no, he can’t, not yet. He says he wants what’s his. To this, Diana is clearly upset.

Elsewhere, at a boxing gym, Jamie is training. Jamie tells Bonehead to hide blades around the edge of the cage, so that once Michael’s down, he can make sure he's not getting up. After dinner, Ricardo speaks to Michael alone. He says that Diana is right, Michael is changing and Michael asks why Ricardo has traveled to see him. He says his business is with Michael and Michael says he took care of Ronnie and now he’ll take care of his son, but he needs the shipment as soon as possible. He says he needs the three months that were promised to Ronnie and Ricardo replies that he’ll kill him personally, if he must and gives him just three days to repay the debt.

Michael tries to assert his dominance after the fight (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

As Michael arrives home, Diana isn’t there. He sees that she's packed her things and left. While he tries to call her, she ignores it and checks into a hotel. Michael sits at home alone and receives a text from Banksey asking to meet. In the car, Banksey asks him why Jamie isn't dead already? Michael says the truth is he’s afraid of getting caught and locked up. He says when he was about to kill Davy, he thought he was putting it all on the line because Ronnie asked him to, and then he sided with his son, which felt like the ultimate betrayal.

Banksey asks him if he’s okay for the fight and he says he can’t wait. That when he wins then Jamie will get whacked. Banksey asks him who’s going to do that and he said he’ll ask Bobby as penance. As Michael leaves the car, Banksey calls him and asks him if he killed Ronnie. Michael asks him if he thinks it was him, and he says yes, but I'm still here. At the hotel, Diana takes another pregnancy test. This one is positive.

It’s the morning of the fight and Michael is still trying to call Diana. At last, she calls him back and tells him that she’s safe. She tells him not to call her and that she'll call him. She also won’t tell him where she is before hanging up. Elsewhere, DS Barney Stiles is calling for a passport movement check on Michael and the rest of the people on the Spanish trip. Diana texts an unknown number and asks if she can meet.

Michael pulls up to the fight and Ricardo arrives to watch. The club owner takes them through the rules in the changing rooms. He says when they’ve had enough, shout it. As Bonehead leads Jamie into the cage, he tells him where he’s hidden a blade. Men are stood all round, holding onto the cage, shouting and jeering. Immediately, as it starts, Jamie runs at Michael kicking and punching him. He tries to fight him off, but Jamie punches him repeatedly and throws him against the side of the cage. Jamie begins to miss some punches and Michael fights back. As he knocks Jamie to the ground, he crawls over and picks the blade. Jamie slashes him and, in response, Michael beats him to the ground. Jamie shouts that he's had enough and the fight ends. Michael is declared the winner and Jamie leaves the cage.

In the changing rooms, Ricardo comes to see Michael. Michael says he’s not stupid and he knows Jamie won’t just go away and what needs to be done, but he’s got authority now. Ricardo asks him if he can do it. He says he doesn’t have to, he can get someone else to do it. Ricardo asks who will do it for him, go to prison, risk their life, keep quiet, because he'll have to make that choice. Ricardo says nothing has changed at all and that right now, Jamie will also be choosing who to send to prison for killing Michael.

Diana goes to meet the person she texted, it's Cheryl. She tells her she’s walked away from Michael. Cheryl says she’ll go back, but Diana isn't sure. Cheryl offers to let Diana stay with her. Elsewhere, Bonehead is driving Jamie after the fight. He says the loss means something and Jamie calls Bobby. Bobby says he’s right behind them and when Jamie asks for the money from Rachel by tomorrow, Bobby questions whether he's the right person to have it. To this, Jamie gets out of the car and goes to speak to Bobby directly. He says that the money is going to pay for his deal with proper people and Bobby says that everyone locks the Albanians out and it's not a good idea. Jamie threatens him and tells him to call Rachel and ask for cash.

While in the car, Michael calls and Bobby answers it, not revealed that Jamie is there. He tells Bobby that he needs to tell Jamie that his name means nothing now. He also tells him that Ricardo’s in town looking for payment. If Jamie touches the cash, everyone dies. When he hangs up, Jamie tells Bobby that Rachel will know what to do and to call her.

Diana finds solace in Cheryl after walking out on Michael (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Back with Diana and Cheryl, Cheryl is talking about how they've always had to give their men the benefit of the doubt. She asks Diana if Davy is dead. Finally, she says that she thinks so. She tells her that Ronnie went out with Davy and only Ronnie came back. Cheryl asks where they left him, but Diana doesn’t know. She then asks if it’s true Ronnie died in Spain and when she asks if it was a heart attack, Diana says, "What do you think?" She tells Cheryl she’s terrified and that she’ll stay with her, if that’s okay. She says it is.

DS Barney Stiles goes to meet Michael outside his house. He says he wants to ask a few questions about Ronnie's death. He tells him that he knows Michael flew out, but that only Elaine, Jamie, and Banksey returned with him on the boat. No Ronnie. He says that according to the passport records, Ronnie never made it back from Spain and DS Stiles wants to know who they buried. He asks him if Ronnie actually died, and he tells him he did. DS Stiles tells Michael he’s not bothered about a police informant being dead, to which Michael looks shocked, but he says he wants to know how he died. He tells him Ronnie has been giving the police information for years. He tells Michael not to be worried since Ronnie didn't grass on him, although Michael did spend some years in prison. To this, Michael drives away.

At home, Michael’s place has been trashed. He texts Diana to see if she’s safe and she ignores it, whilst packing her bag to go to Cheryl's. When she doesn’t reply, he calls Banksey and tells him that Jamie has been misbehaving. He says that what they were talking about before in the car, he’ll do it himself.

Here's a recap of everything that happened in This City is Ours episode 5.

Diana and Michael wait to find out if they're pregnant (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

The fifth episode opens on Diana at home. Again, she has repeated flashbacks of the bloodied knife and her mum knocking at the door. This time, she answers and her mum comes in to reassure her. In reality, she texts the number her mum gave her in the prison and waits for a call. The next morning, Michael asks Diana how she’s feeling and they wonder if they’re pregnant. She asks Michael how he feels about Ronnie and what happened and he replies that he tries not to think about it. He loved him, but he had no choice. And then, she asks about Jamie. He says that Jamie is after what he can’t have, something that belongs to them, and he’ll give him a chance to see sense - or he’ll make him.

Meanwhile, Jamie’s at home with his mum. Elaine asks if he’s okay and whether things are okay with Michael. He assures her they are. Melissa says she doesn’t want to stay again that night because Ronnie’s body is going to be there. Jamie’s friend, Bonehead, calls him and says he’s found someone that wants to buy some of the drugs. Jamie says to get them ready to sell, but also to not forget about finding Billy as they need to get Michael out the way. His wife says they have a lot to lose, but Jamie is interested in what they can gain.

Bonehead arrives at the launderette. When he goes upstairs, he sees the door open and all the drugs are gone. He comes downstairs furiously shouting and the owner tells him that Billy came in to fetch something. He calls Steven, who’s knocking on Billy’s door, but no-one answers. Bonehead tells him to break in and look inside. Steven asks him what he’s looking for and Bonehead tells him, "50 kilos of Lemo". Then, Steven calls Banksey and tells him he’s going to tell him something, but then he has to leave him alone.

The search for Billy continues, on the day of the funeral (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Billy and his girlfriend are staying at a hotel. His phone starts ringing from a private number. He won’t answer and his girlfriend asks him how long he’s holding the drugs for and he says he’s not holding them, they’re his now. She panics and says they’re going to get killed and that he’s being stupid. While she goes to leave, he says he’ll give it back, but he needs her car. He says first, he’ll take her home first and then go and give it back. Meanwhile, Diana texts her mum again who still hasn’t answered.

Ronnie’s body gets returned home for the funeral. Bonehead tries to call Jamie, but he doesn’t answer. Michael arrives as Jamie’s phone keeps ringing, so he answers. Bonehead tells him the drugs are gone and he leaves the room quickly. To this, Michael asks Rachel and Bobby what’s going on, but they tell him it’s Jamie’s problem. Michael says that Jamie’s problems are his problems, too. To this, Melissa gets defensive.

Outside on the phone, Jamie is demanding Bonehead finds Billy. Elaine calls both Michael and Jamie into the room where Ronnie’s body is. She says she’s going to leave the three of them together to sort out their mess. Michael asks Jamie what’s going on with the phone call. He offers his help, but Jamie says it’s sorted. Michael then asks why Ronnie shot Davy, but Jamie says he doesn’t know. Michael tells Jamie he knows he’s got the Lemo, but he doesn’t know why he stole it. He reassures him it’s not too late to get everything back on track, but Jamie swears he hasn’t got it and he doesn’t know where it is.

Jamie then turns on him and says Michael must’ve felt left out when him and Ronnie were having a good time on that final night together. He asks him if he killed Ronnie and Michael says the reason they were out in Spain is because of Jamie and that he should own that fact. He walks out and Elaine comes to see him. Michael tells her that Jamie is doing his own thing, but Elaine says they were Ronnie’s ideas too. She says they agreed on something, but Michael says that now they’re trying to get out of a hole and it’s not Jamie’s time.

Searching for Davy, Cheryl grows angrier at the lies (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Elaine still wants Michael to speak at the funeral, because Ronnie trusted him the most. She says she’ll speak to Jamie. Michael heads outside where Banksey is waiting. Banksey reveals that Billy has disappeared with all of the Lemo Jamie stole. That the first person to find Billy is the winner. Michael’s angry that Ronnie and Jamie got greedy and now everything’s gone wrong. Banksey and Michael go to find Billy.

Cheryl comes round to Elaine's house. She’s upset that Davy still hasn’t come back. They all reassure her that he’ll turn up. Meanwhile, Jamie tells his wife the Lemo is gone and he’s trying to get it back. If he can’t get it back, he’s down £3 million. He wants her to ask Rachel to get as much money out of the business as she can, but not to tell Bobby. He reassures her again that they’re safe. Elsewhere, Diana’s mum calls her. Diana says she wants to talk about Dad and she wants to tell Michael what really happened. Her mum is angry and says it’s for the best not to tell him and she says what she did is between them two. That Diana did nothing wrong. Diana says to her mum, "Who put the knife in?" Her mum is upset and tells her to stop it, that she's happy and that's all that matters.

While Freddie waits outside Billy’s girlfriend’s place, Bonehead turns up in a van with more men to smash the place up. He calls Michael and Banksey and tells them what;s going on and that he recognises Bonehead. At the same time, Freddie spots Billy and his girlfriend driving past. They tell Freddie to stay on Billy and don’t lose him. Bonehead and his crew head off just as Billy’s girlfriend gets out the car. Michael and Banksey pull up in time to catch Billy leaving in the blue Mini. They follow him into the night. As they finally pull up alongside him and tell him to pull over, he speeds up and races off. They begin a chase through the busy streets and while Billy gets away, the police start chasing him. He spins out trying to get away and is hit by a van, killing him. The police swarm the scene and Michael and Banksey drive slowly past.

At Ronnie's funeral, Diana supports Michael (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

The next morning, it’s the day of the funeral. Michael messages Bobby looking for a figure on what money they can get from the business. Rachel says it’s about £2 million, but she says she’s not comfortable handing it over to Michael. Bobby says he needs it to pay for the gear. She questions if he’s the right person to hand it to. Bobby scoffs and says that Michael is the boss, but she says, “Is he though?” She tells him it’s too soon to hand over their money.

Michael tells Diana she doesn’t have to come to the funeral, if she doesn’t want to, but she does. She tells him she spoke to her mum and she’s been thinking about how her dad died. She asks Michael if when Ronnie goes into the ground it’ll all be over like he said it would, but he says it can’t be yet. She’s happy he didn’t lie to her.

The funeral begins and people line the streets. Michael tells Jamie that Billy was killed in a police chase with all the gear in his boot. They carry Ronnie’s coffin into the church. Cheryl sits down and the man next to her introduces himself as DS Barney Stiles. Michael is called forward to speak. He talks about how great Ronnie was, but suddenly his nose starts to bleed. He finishes his speech and pays his respects, making light of the grief. At the wake, Rachel comes over to Michael and asks him if he’s happy. She says she needs to win, too. Bobby gets everybody up to do a step dance in memory of Ronnie, but Jamie refuses to do it with them.

Cheryl makes a bold decision after the funeral (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Meanwhile, Cheryl and Diana speak in the toilets. She’s angry because all of his supposed friends don’t seem to care. Diana goes to hug her and she shrugs away, angrily. Elaine and Michael share a drink at the bar. She tells him he’s done them proud as Jamie watches on angrily and Melissa tells him to stop staring.

Elaine says they need to talk about what happens next, but not yet. She has a question, “Who did it?” She doesn’t want a war, but she can’t not punish whoever it was. He promises to make whoever did it suffer. Suddenly, Jamie grabs the microphone and tells Michael to get away from his mum. That he’s not family and he knows exactly what he is. He tells Michael that he saw himself getting cut out and that he killed him because of it. As they drag him away, he tells Michael to watch what happens now. Michael tells Elaine he’s drunk and wrong. That he loved Ronnie like a brother and he’ll keep his promise.

Michael and Diana drive home. She asks him if he needs to kill Jamie. She says he’s got a wife and a baby, but Michael just stares. Meanwhile, Cheryl asks to take a detour in the taxi on her way home.

Here's a recap of everything that happened in This City is Ours episode 4.

Jamie denies spiking Michael's drink on the ferry (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

The fourth episode opens on the ferry. After spiking Michael, Jamie is walking around, looking at the cameras. He finds Banksey and asks him who he thinks killed Ronnie, but Banksey hasn’t got an answer. Elaine comes to meet them. She asks after Michael, but Jamie says he’s probably sleeping off a hangover. To this, Banksey says he’ll go and knock for him. Inside, Michael is laying on the floor in his own sick, but he comes round to Banksey's knocking, just as he's starting to panic.

He tells Banksey he’s okay and needs some time to get ready. As he sits on the bed to look at photos of Diana, he sees the photos of the passport he took from one of Jamie’s friends and remembers. He makes his way down to the car as the ferry nears land. Everyone’s down there waiting for him and Jamie greets him as if nothing had happened, saying that last time he saw him he was drunk. While Michael tells Elaine to go in the car, she insists on travelling in the van with Ronnie.

As they drive off the ferry, they hand their passports over and while they think they’re clear, they get flagged and pulled aside. Jamie and Banksey drive past. As they search the back of the van, the police send the dog in. But it doesn’t find anything and they get cleared and sent on their way. Meanwhile, Diana is at home remembering when her mother was shouting on the outside of the bathroom door, begging to come in and saying he’s gone now as a younger Diana looked scared.

Understanding what Michael has done, Diana stands by him (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

They arrive back at Elaine and Ronnie’s house and Michael asks if she wants a moment alone with him before he takes him. She’s worried she’s letting Ronnie down by not going with him, but Michael consoles her. She asks him to speak at the funeral, to give the eulogy, and he agrees. She says it’s what Ronnie would’ve wanted.

Michael drives Ronnie’s body to the funeral parlour at night. The undertaker takes him away to clean him up for the funeral. Michael arrives home and calls Banksey. He wants to set up a meeting at the safe place; Jamie, Bobby, Banksey and him. He tells Banksey about Jamie’s friend being on the ferry and that he wants to talk to Jamie about it. Hearing him on the phone, Diana comes down. She tells him while she gets why he did it, she wants it to be over because she doesn’t want to lose him. He promises it’ll be over soon.

At home, Rachel shows Elaine what she’s written about Ronnie for his notice in the paper. She asks again who she thinks did it and why. Elaine hopes this isn't the beginning of something really bad. Elsewhere, Michael, Banksey and Duffy meet in a sauna. Michael wants to know where Jamie is. Duffy says he’s on the way, he’s just getting Ronnie’s death certificate, and so Michael takes the opportunity to tell them that Jamie spiked his drink on the ferry. Jamie walks in and Michael accuses him, thought Jamie continues to deny it. He says that the coroners have put down that Ronnie had a heart attack. They move on and Michael says they need to protect their lines, but it’s business as usual. Jamie says they don’t have anything to sell.

Michael reveals that he told the Amigos the truth about what happened to the supply. That they’d been played and lost it, and that they've agreed to send him another load. Michael says they need to wait two or three weeks and Jamie says that they need Lemo now. That they should go to Amsterdam and use the Albanians. Michael tells him no. He says using the Albanians will make them move in and they’re not London, they’re Liverpool. Michael refuses Jamie's idea and Jamie asks if Michael is in charge now. Asking Duffy, he replies “I assume so.” And Banksey agrees. Even Jamie agrees, but he walks out.

Everyone's looking for Billy (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Michael asks Duffy to get Rachel to sort out a figure on what they can offer to give the Amigos back. They need a million and another million as a deposit for the new deal. As Duffy leaves, Banksey asks what the Amigos want and Michael reveals he’s been told to finish Jamie. He also wants to find the missing Lemo. Jamie meets back up with his friend from the ferry, Bonehead. They discuss getting Billy, the kid that Micheal beat up and found some missing drugs, off the streets before he talks to Michael because he knows too much.

Meanwhile, Cheryl goes to visit Diana at work. She asks how the holiday was and asks if Davy was there, since he wasn’t in the photos. Diana tells her that Davy went to see a friend and to ask Michael, but Cheryl says that Michael lies. She wants to know why Davy isn’t answering his phone. Diana says she’s asking the wrong person and Cheryl laughs and says she’s learning and leaves. Elsewhere, Jamie and Bonehead are looking for Billy. They go to his girlfriend’s mum's house and while she’s there, they say he isn’t, but it shows him upstairs. She comes upstairs to talk to him after they’ve left and he says they need to keep their mouths shut, then leaves.

Michael and Banksey go to a shop. They greet the man sitting there, Reggie, and head to the back where more men have got one of Jamie’s friends, Steven, held. The one he beat up on the ferry. Michael asks him what he was doing there. He says, delivering GHB. Michael asks why Jamie wanted GHB. He answers that he'd been told to knock Michael out and then they were going to take him out. He reveals that Jamie decided against it because of all the cameras. Then, Banksey asks about the missing Lemo. Steven swears he doesn’t know anything about that and Banksey starts powering up a screwdriver, putting it near his leg as he begs. He stops and asks Steven to be on his side and to watch Jamie for him. He agrees. Then, Michael asks after Billy.

Rachel sides with her cousin, Jamie (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Michael goes to meet Diana at work. They’re waiting to go to the IVF clinic. Diana has flashbacks again, of her in her school uniform holding a knife and heading upstairs to her parent’s arguing. Again, she tells Michael she saw him kill Ronnie and she does get it. That she understands more than he thinks. It cuts to the scan at the clinic and they implant the embryos. Michael calls Banksey and he says he’s with Freddie, his son. They’re still looking for Billy. He tells him to message him if they find him and he’ll come.

After the scan, they celebrate with ice-cream. Diana tells Michael that Cheryl came asking about Davy. Elsewhere, Bobby turns up to Elaine’s house. They talk about how Jamie has gone along with Michael being top man. She says that Ronnie wanted more than that, but Bobby says he never said it out loud. She replies, because he didn’t have the chance. Bobby goes to see his wife, Rachel, who’s counting money in the kitchen. He’s surprised that Elaine is backing Jamie. Rachel agrees that Jamie would be better and Bobby would be higher up. Bobby says Jamie would only get there if he took Michael out, so they need to be careful.

Freddie and Banksey wait outside a house. Banksey is telling Freddie that he needs to get Billy and he tells his dad he can do it. Billy comes to the door and Freddie tells him that he's there for Michael. To this, he agrees to come. Billy asks Banksey about Ronnie’s death, before telling him that Jamie came looking for him. Michael is waiting to get takeaway with Diana and he gets the text from Banksey and excuses himself to say he’ll go and pick the food up instead.

The Lemo changes hands (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Meanwhile, Jamie and Bonehead go to a launderette and head upstairs. They open a locked door and then Bonehead suggests checking on the cupboard. Inside, there's all the stolen Lemo. Jamie wants to keep it between them two. He says that they can’t sell it while they’re still burying his dad. Bonehead says they just need to take out Michael now and they’re top. To this, Jamie says they’ll do it after the funeral.

Michael gets in the car with Billy, Banksey and Freddie. He tells Freddie to step outside. He asks about the gear Billy was cutting last time they saw him. That it was Davy’s, they know that, but asks him whether it came from Jamie. He admits it, but he thought it was legit. He asks him where he stashes it and Billy says he doesn’t know. Michael asks again. He says that if Jamie calls him, he'll tell them. Michael tells him to find the stash house and lets him go. Diana watches as Michael walks away from the car.

The next morning, Billy is waiting outside the launderette as it opens. At the same time, Jamie and his wife and kid arrive at the funeral directors. Billy goes into the launderette and tells the woman running the place that Jamie has asked him to get something from upstairs. At the same time, Jamie goes to see Ronnie’s body ahead of the funeral. While Jamie is busy, Billy gets the key and goes into the room where the Lemo is. As he searches for a key to the cupboard, he breaks in with a hammer. Inside, he finds it all.

Over Ronnie's dead body, Jamie is angry. He says he’ll tell his son everyday that he loves him and he’s not at all sorry to Ronnie. Back at the launderette, Billy calls his girlfriend to come and meet him with her car as he packs up all the drugs into bin bags. He takes it all outside and loads it into his girlfriend’s boot.

Here's a recap of everything that happened in This City is Ours episode 3.

Elaine makes a shocking discovery (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

The third episode begins at the villa in Spain. Michael gets out of bed and Diana pretends to still be asleep. He comes round and sits with her, but she tells him not to touch her and that she wants to go home. He says right now, he needs her with him and that they can’t be the first ones up or the ones that find Ronnie’s body. He begs her to understand that he would’ve been dead if he didn’t do it. For now, he says, they need to sit and wait.

Diana hears the baby wake up first and peaks out the door to see Jamie heading downstairs, followed by Rachel. Rachel tells Jamie she’s been trying to speak to Ronnie about business, but Elaine interrupts. She jokes that Ronnie is still outside on the sun lounger after their big night. She gets a bucket of cold water to throw over him and Rachel says she’ll film it. As the pair get closer though, Elaine suddenly stops and then runs over to him, screaming. Jamie runs out and Elaine begs him to do something, but he panics. Then, Michael runs downstairs and quickly instructs everyone to get Ronnie inside and they’ll sort it.

Banksey comes over and asks what they’re going to do. Michael calls for a lockdown and that him and Bobby need to move Ronnie indoors. The whole family are in tears and they hug each other, while Diana watches on. Meanwhile, Banksey heads upstairs and gets a gun to check the area. Downstairs, Jamie steps into the room with Ronnie’s body to speak to Michael and Bobby.

Jamie thinks it’s the Colombians, but Bobby says that loads of people knew Ronnie was here, it could be any of them. Jamie says they can’t bring in the police, so instead Michael suggests that they drive Ronnie home and give him the send-off he deserves. He says they might have a problem at border control, but whoever killed Ronnie might step forward when they hear he was buried peacefully at home.

Diana has haunting flashbacks of her past (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

When Jamie leaves the room, Michael tells Bobby that only Jamie knows what Ronnie was thinking when they spoke to the Amigos. He casts doubt that they don't really know now what they’ve gotten into. Michael steps outside and Rachel asks him what they’re going to say to Cheryl when they get home. He says nothing, to just say that he went to Estepona.

As Diana packs her things to leave, she has a flashback of her mum screaming her name. Michael interrupts to tell her they’re booking flights and she tells him that she was watching when he killed Ronnie. Meanwhile, Jamie goes to speak to Melissa. He says Michael is saying everything he should be saying, but she assures him that he doesn’t need to be in charge today. She wants to know if they're safe and she tells him she doesn’t want guns involved.

Michael then drives Diana to the airport and says he wants to be there when they implant the embryos. But before he drops her, he goes to see the Colombians one more time alone. He tells them that Ronnie is dead and that the container is no longer in their possession. That they’d heard it had been stopped and searched by customs by one of their own, who is also now dead, and wrote it off.

They raise their concerns that there’s nothing to sell, so realise that they can't be paid now. Michael says he’ll pay and he’s in control, but Riccardo says if Jamie is still alive, he’s not in control. Michael instead suggests instead of three months extension on payment, he wants a second shipment on the old terms, but 100% of the sales goes to them and he will take no profit at all. He tells them he'll sell it on his markets. Riccardo agrees, but tells him for the plan to ahead he needs to finish the job with Jamie if he wants to be in control.

Jamie makes plans to topple Michael (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Michael gets back into the car with Diana and tells her he trusts the Colombians. While she's been angry, she tells him she does understand why it was necessary for him to do what he did and they hold hands. After Michael returns to the villa, they talk about how they’ll get Ronnie home. It’s a two-day journey and Elaine says she wants to come. Michael asks if Jamie wants to come. Meanwhile, Jamie calls his friend back home and asks him to come out to meet him in Spain and to bring backup with him.

They wrap Ronnie’s body up to travel and load him into the back of a van in a freezer. Concealing his body, they pack up furniture in front of it. Michael and Banksey travel with the van and Elaine and Jamie follow in a car behind. Elaine asks Jamie who would kill Ronnie and Jamie says a little piece of him is looking at Michael. In the van, Michael tells Banksey that it was Jamie that took the shipment and that he arranged for someone to take it. Banksey asks him who he thinks killed Ronnie and Michael says he doesn’t think it’s the Amigos. He says only that it’s what happens when you start keeping secrets and asks Banksey what he thinks happened.

Elaine then reveals to Jamie that Ronnie would reveal ‘snippets’ of information about a rival and pass them on. Jamie is angry at this and asks how much he was revealing and Elaine says he was clever, but no one else knows. Though now Jamie wonders if that’s why Ronnie was killed. They stop for food and Elaine asks Michael who he thinks did it. She also says she’ll travel with Ronnie’s body when they cross over into England. Michael says he doesn’t know, but the circumstances, talking to Jamie, killing Davy, and the shipment of Lemo (slang for cocaine) all add to the confusion. Michael turns to Jamie and asks him what was said between them, that killing Davy must’ve meant Davy said something that made him do it. He won't answer. Michael gets a doorbell camera notification of Diana arriving safely home. He calls her, but she ignores it.

Onboard the ferry, Michael is targeted (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

At home, Diana is haunted by what she saw Michael do. But then she has another flashback to her younger self. Her mum is begging her at the bathroom door as Diana drops a bloodied knife into the sink. She washes it off and returns to reality. The next day as Michael, Elaine, Jamie and Banksey pull up to charge the van, Jamie takes a moment to call his friends to confirm they're waiting at the ferry dock. He tells them to get to Michael on the ferry and that he wants the damage to be permanent. Jamie asks them if they brought “it” and his friend confirms.

The group arrive to board the ferry. At the same time, Jamie’s friends also board. The van passes through without a search. They all go to their cabins, apart from Jamie. Back at home, Diana carries on her hormone injections for IVF. She searches for ‘Leslie Williams mother’ on her laptop in a private internet window and reads articles about how her mother was found guilty of killing her husband, Daniel, and given 20 years in prison. She then has more flashbacks of her mother coming into the bathroom and helping her clean the knife.

Diana drives to the prison to see her mother. Diana tells her she’s been trying to remember exactly how it happened, but her mother insists that it’s in the past and that she’s happier in prison than she was out of it. She asks her mum, “Would you say it was necessary?” And she replies, yes and that he needed to be stopped. Her mum asks about Michael. Diana tells her they’re a lot alike and he loves her. Her mum then tells her that she has a phone number that Diana can text her on and then she’ll call her back.

Michael's fate hangs in the balance (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Back on the ferry, Jamie meets with his friend in the toilets. His friend hands him some liquid and Jamie says he’ll spike Michael’s drink and when he’s passed out his friend has to go and smother him to death. His friend refuses, but Jamie explains that Ronnie’s been killed and Michael’s acting like he’s in charge. Jamie says he’ll do it himself. He goes to the bar and gets two drinks, spiking Michaels and leaving it on the table for him. As Michael comes to meet Jamie for a drink though, he catches Jamie's friend come over to talk to him, warning him not to do it and ruin everything.

As the friend leaves, Michael sits down and drinks. Again, he spots another of Jamie’s friends and gets up to follow him, pretending to go to the toilet. He beats him against the wall and takes his passport, taking photos of it on his phone. As he leaves the toilet, he suddenly struggles to walk after being spiked. Jamie follows him and as Michael struggles with his keys at his cabin door, he makes it into his room before falling to the ground. He pleads with Jamie, who is standing over him, before passing out.

Here's a recap of everything that happened in This City is Ours episode 2.

Davy begs for his life (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Episode two begins in Spain. Michael and Ronnie are driving through the countryside on their way to meet the Amigos. Michael says they need to get another shipment that they can sell and give the Amigos the profit. In the boot, there's banging. Ronnie shouts to Davy saying that they're nearly there. As they pull up onto the hillside, they drag Davy out of the boot while Ronnie holds a gun. They push him into an abandoned building and take the tape off his mouth.

Davy begs and says that he’s sorry. He says he knows it looks bad, but he can explain it. When Michael gets angry at him, Davy tells him he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Davy asks to speak to Ronnie alone. Davy yells he’s done nothing wrong. He says you found the house and got the gear, but if Davy had known all about that, why did I get on a plane to Spain? He begs Ronnie to listen. Davy starts to talk about Jamie. At this point, Ronnie dismisses Michael and tells him to give them a minute alone. Michael hears them yelling at each other inside, but he can’t hear exactly what they’re saying. Suddenly, shots are fired. Michael runs in and finds that Ronnie has shot Davy dead.

Michael asks what Davy said, but Ronnie dismisses him saying it doesn’t matter and shouts at him to get the tarp. They wrap up Davy's body and drive it elsewhere. Michael drags it to the edge of a cliff and he and Ronnie throw it off. Michael starts to ask again what Davy was saying about Jamie, but Ronnie won’t answer. He says if he could bring Davy back to life, he would. As they get in the car, Michael asks again. But again, Ronnie won’t answer.

With Ronnie hoping to retire, Elaine turns to Jamie (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

When they get back to the villa, Ronnie says they’ll tell everyone else that Davy walked away, to go to meet a friend in Estepona. Michael says that he wants to know what Jamie has to say for himself. Music is blaring in the villa and Ronnie yells for Jamie to turn it off and get inside. Michael walks in and Jamie asks where Davy is. When Michael tries to talk to him, Ronnie sends him outside. Ronnie tells Jamie that he’s just put three bullets into his friend and he wants Jamie to tell him why.

Outside, Banksey comes over to speak to Michael and he tells him they’re a man down. But he’ll tell him more later. Davy’s phone rings on the sunlounger and they ignore it. Rachel gets up to answer and Michael tells her to leave it. She says it’s his wife, Cheryl. It rings again. Michael tells Rachel to put it on silent, but it still continues to buzz. They all turn their phones on silent. Michael watches as Ronnie and Jamie take a walk outside. Diana comes over and shows Michael a photo of their successful embryos growing ready for transfer.

Michael then asks Banksey if Jamie and Davy were close. He reveals that Ronnie put him in the ground and while Banksey says that was always the plan anyway, Michael says they were supposed to find out what Davy was up to and for who first. Now Michael is suspicious of Jamie. In their room, Diana wants to know where Michael disappeared to for half the day. She says, “Three went out and two came back.” He says that Davy’s gone to Estepona for a meeting, but Diana doesn’t believe him. He asks her to keep an eye on Jamie and Ronnie that evening and to tell him what she sees. She agrees and Michael tells her that things are shifting.

In Ronnie’s room, Elaine asks what Jamie has done. He reveals that Jamie went behind his back and he doesn’t know if he did the wrong thing for the right reasons or if he’s just in it for himself. She tries to defend him and he says Jamie is too smart for his own good. She asks Ronnie what Jamie will do when Ronnie has had enough. She says she’s handed her businesses off to people, maybe she could hand his business off to Jamie. He asks, “What about Michael?” She says he’ll still work for you, technically.

Ronnie hides what Jamie has done (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

When Michael goes downstairs, Ronnie is there and he explains that for the meeting with the Amigos he’s going to leave Banksey behind and bring Jamie. Michael is suspicious and wants to know what’s going on. He's also worried about the meeting and tells Ronnie that they have nothing to pay the Amigos back and that they owe them a lot of money. Ronnie suggests using different suppliers, but Michael says that’s wrong and asks if Jamie is the reason he’s thinking that would be a good idea. He warns Ronnie that he can’t go for what Jamie thinks because he’s only thinking about himself. Ronnie tells him to stop.

Michael steps outside and goes through Davy’s belongings, still by the poolside. Inside, Elaine is watching him. Jamie comes in to talk to her. He says he tried something, but it didn’t work out, but pleads that he wasn’t trying to screw Ronnie over. He just wanted to show Ronnie because he doesn’t listen to him. She asks him why he didn’t stop it before Davy got killed and he said he’d tried, but he didn’t get a chance. He said he just needed Ronnie to come and talk to him, but he didn’t until after the fact. He says that Ronnie and him have agreed not to say anything more about it until they get home. Elaine thinks maybe Jamie was right to try something and now Ronnie is listening to him. She says she’d like to spend more time in Spain and travel with his father.

Jamie goes back to his room with Melissa and their baby. She’s upset and tells him to keep on the right side of Ronnie and to be careful. Then, Ronnie, Michael, Jamie and Bobby head to their meeting with the Amigos. Jamie asks his dad what their friends from South America know about what’s happened and Ronnie explains that he's told them they're looking for a change in the payment structure, but don’t know why. Michael asks Jamie what he promised Davy, but he won’t answer. Jamie tells him they’ll deal with it when they’re home and Michael says at home, they've got big problems since they're dealers with nothing to deal.

Anniversary celebrations lighten the mood (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

As they arrive, Ronnie pulls Michael to the side and tells him they’ll talk later, but he needs Michael to do what he always does right now. They head inside to talk. Ricardo, one of the Amigos, says that what they’re asking for is a three month delay in payments. And Ronnie says yes, maximum. He turns to Michael. He asks him what will happen if nothing changes for them at the end of the three months and they still can't pay? Ronnie insists things will change. They know what’s happened and they’ll get their sales back on track.

Ricardo asks Michael who has been the problem. And he says they’re dealing with it. Ricardo wants to talk about charging a fee for this extension of time. Ronnie hopes that they can pay in goodwill for their five years of partnership with no problems before now. Michael tells him to do whatever he thinks is fair and Ricardo agrees to goodwill. They cheers, but Ricardo asks to show Michael something outside.

Aside from the rest of the gang, Ricardo tells Michael he’s noticed he’s quiet. He asks whether there’s any problems and Michael asks him about his four kids and says I’ve got four kids too, and explains they’re doing IVF, which is the reason he's quiet. Ricardo then reveals that he was happy to watch the shipment pass through customs without any problems. He says he watched through GPS as they always track their cargo. Michael is shocked to hear this news, but doesn't let on. Ricardo says he has one more question, what will Michael want for his children? He says he wants something more ordinary, safer, legal. Ricardo then explains that his children will go to college in the US and work within the law, but Jamie works for his father. He says, “What will his father want for him?” He says you don’t have to explain, but you didn’t have a voice at that table. Michael tells him it won’t happen again.

That night, everyone heads out to dinner. Jamie stands up to cheers his dad and mum’s anniversary. Michael watches on as the family celebrates and steps away from the table. As Michael tries to catch his breath in the bathroom, Banksey comes in and asks him if he’s okay. He asks him what he missed at the meeting and Michael reveals that he found out the shipment went through the border completely untouched, despite Davy saying it didn't. He says if it wasn’t torn apart then someone took all of the drugs and he wonders if it was Davy. He asks Banksey to get his son, Freddie to drive past the yard and see if the shipment is still there. He says if it’s not, Davy was lying for someone.

Michael takes his fate into his own hands (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Diana and Michael go for a walk away from the celebrations. They discuss how close Jamie and Ronnie have been and Michael expresses that one of the Amigos said the same to him. She asks him why they don’t just walk away. He says it’s his business, but that it’s unwritten that it belongs to him as much as Ronnie. She asks him if he trusts Ronnie, but he doesn’t answer.

Back in the UK, Freddie goes to check the shipment while everyone’s back at the villa partying. Apart from Michael, who watches from upstairs. Banksey steps away and Michael goes down to meet him. Banksey says Ronnie must have another supply line linked up, but Michael doesn’t know anything about it. He thinks Jamie knows. Michael steps away and Banksey calls Freddie. Freddie tells him he’s inside the container and won’t be very happy by what he’s about to show him. All the drugs are missing and he sends the video to Michael to see.

As the party finishes, Elaine shouts down for Ronnie to come to bed. He says he’s having some me-time and throws Davy’s buzzing phone into the pool. Michael watches him from upstairs as he falls asleep on a sun lounger. Michael then creeps downstairs and grabs a knife from the kitchen, but Diana walks in on him. She says she won’t let him do this and he says he won’t let her stop him. He says that Ronnie has already made his mind up and if he doesn’t do this, he’s dead. He tells her to go to bed and steps outside.

Michael heads to the pool and sneaks up on Ronnie quietly. He holds the knife to his chest and tells Ronnie to open his eyes. As he does, he covers his mouth and plows the knife into his heart and muffles his screams. Ronnie lays dead on the sun lounger and Michael wipes the knife on Ronnie’s robe. It cuts to Diana watching from the bedroom.

Here's a recap of everything that happened in This City is Ours episode 1.

Ronnie suggests to Michael he might retire (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

The episode opens on Ronnie, Jamie, Banksey and Michael playing a round of golf, whilst their other halves watch them from the clubhouse. Ronnie (Sean Bean) goes to take a putt while his son, Jamie holds up an umbrella over his head in the rain. Ronnie misses. While Jamie goes to finish the shot, Ronnie starts talking business with Michael.

Ronnie asks him how they can improve their margins, but Michael says why change what works? Ronnie counters with the fact he wants more money, so he can relax a bit more. Michael looks at him, realising he's talking about a possible retirement plan. To this, Ronnie adds: “My clogs would fit you nicely.” After golf, they all gather around and Ronnie’s wife, Elaine, toasts their new grandson, Alfie, back at the club. Ronnie and Michael smile at each other knowingly.

It cuts to Michael waiting at an IVF clinic. While he waits, he gets a text telling him that flights have been booked. Michael gets called in by the nurse to give his sperm sample. He calls his partner, Diana, to see if she’ll help him and while she’s in a restaurant working, she heads into a quiet room to talk dirty to him.

Afterwards, Michael goes to meet her at the bar. He tells her he’s got a low sperm count and the ones that are there, can’t swim. He apologises to her, but she tells him she doesn’t care and that she can get pregnant another way. Michael calls himself the problem, but she consoles him and says they’ll solve it together. He tells her he loves her, but he’s got to go to Spain as Ronnie’s looking for a bigger payday and that there's talk now of him stepping aside.

Ronnie's son, Jamie makes Davy his son's godparent (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Michael gets in the car that's waiting for him outside Diana's work. Ronnie, Jamie, and another man, Davy, are waiting and Michael questions why Jamie has come along too. When they get to Spain, a man greets them and says three of them, the Amigos, are waiting inside. They all share a drink and cheers to business. As Michael tries to lead negotiations for Ronnie, explaining that they want the same gear for a better price, Jamie interrupts.

The Amigos ask to only hear from one voice and Michael says one voice makes sense, but Jamie continues to talk. Michael carries on and tells them that Ronnie wants something to change. Whether that’s getting a lower price, but buying more product, that’s fine. Adjusting the means of transport, fine. Jamie jumps in again. Michael stands him down and Jamie leaves the table. The Amigos ask why Jamie is at the table and Michael says he’s learning. This makes the Amigos question why Jamie would be learning when their business is with Michael.

Outside, Ronnie asks Davy if he’s doing the right thing. He says he’s not sure. To this, Ronnie asks about Davy’s man at the dogs and whether they can make more money there. Davy says they won't risk it, but that they’re safe as they are. Back in negotiations, Michael suggests buying the product earlier rather than once it’s cleared the border. That Michael would take the UK border risk. The Spanish asks if they’re sure that’s what they want and he says it is. A direct shipment to Liverpool in two weeks’ time.

It cuts to the shipment being delivered. Davy prays in a church, whilst at the UK border, the shipment makes it through without a spot of trouble. Davy’s phone buzzes to tell him it’s all clear. He calls someone and says: “Are you sure you still want me to go through with this?” He hangs up, looking panicked, but then he calls Ronnie and tells him it’s not looking good, despite it going through all fine.

The hunt for the rat heats up (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

It cuts to Michael at the IVF clinic. His partner’s egg retrieval was a success with eight healthy eggs. They celebrate though Michael is distracted, looking at his phone. Afterwards, he goes to meet Ronnie and Davy at a restaurant. Davy says his man on the inside told him the truck with the shipment was taken apart, put back together, and sent off. That there’s a buzz and happy faces on the other side with the Amigos. Michael suggests that they leave the shipment packed in the yard and not go near it. He says the police will be waiting for them to collect. Ronnie says what if they didn’t find anything and Michael tells him if they opened the truck, they found it. To this news, Ronnie’s furious.

Outside, Ronnie speaks to Michael and suggests whether it’s just down to bad luck or whether there's a rat in their organisation. He says if we’ve got a hole in our supply line, everyone is going to try and fill it - all the other mafias. Michael names all the people that knew about the shipment and Ronnie wonders if the Amigos are trying to teach him a lesson. Michael says they're not, so Ronnie tells him to find the rat.

That night, Michael waits in a car while Banksey gets out with a bat. As a man cycles down the street, Banksey jumps out and smacks him off the bike and pushes him into the car. They ask the dealer who he’s selling for, but he's no help. They let him go and pull up elsewhere to discuss how they still don't have any idea who the rat is. They’re watching Davy. Meanwhile, Ronnie and his wife are hosting Jamie, their grandson, and Melissa for dinner. Ronnie gets a text. He then asks Jamie why he asked Davy to be a godparent. He says because he likes him, but Ronnie seems troubled.

Elsewhere, Micheal and Banksey knock on the door of a house. As a woman answers the door, Banksey pushes her in. Michael heads into the kitchen and a man grabs a knife, so Michael grabs a saucepan off the side and smacks him across the face. He starts beating him to the ground while yelling at him, asking him who he thinks he is. As they go to leave, Michael grabs a brick of drugs off the table that the man was cutting.

The next morning, Michael calls Diana. He says he’s stayed at the flat and she asks if he’s coming home to change for the christening at noon. Someone buzzes the flat and he lets them in. A young guy hands him a package and Michael asks him if it’s wrapped, he says it is. When Diana asks what it is though, he won't tell her. He opens the package and takes a gun out. Michael then calls Ronnie and while Ronnie asks him if he’s all set, he says he’s not feeling it. He doesn’t think the rat is Davy. Ronnie says he wants to make a point and Michael argues that it’s too soon. The dealer was cutting three kilos, but they don’t know where it actually came from. Ronnie instructs him to keep going as planned, but he’ll keep thinking on it.

As the christening is set up, Davy is seen at the gym and a man is watching him. Michael gets in his car and speaks to Banksey on the phone. He tells him the guy he beat up will live. That he’s got about 45 minutes and he goes to meet Diana for a coffee. She asks Michael what’s going on and he explains there’s a rat. Michael tells her there’s about three years left and they’ll go and do whatever they want. She says she’s booked to see her mum today. He asks her how she is and she says she won’t talk to her about what happened, even though she was there. She then asks Michael if he has ever killed anyone. He says he hasn’t, but he would if they deserved it.

Diana supports Michael, despite his criminal ways (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

At the gym, Davy leaves to go for a run outside. The man that was watching him texts someone. It cuts to Michael driving and looking for Davy running. At the same time, Jamie is on his way to his dad’s house with his son and Melissa. Elaine tells Ronnie they’ve arrived, but Ronnie says he can’t right now as he’s got something going on. Michael pulls up ahead of Davy and stops to put on gloves and unwrap the gun. Ronnie calls him and just as Michael is about to jump out and shoot Davy, he tells him to stand down.

Diana goes back to her mum’s house. It’s empty, but there’s stains on the ceiling. She calls a prison and speaks to her mum over video call. Afterwards, the christening is starting. Davy and Jamie share a cigarette. Diana arrives and heads inside. Rachel, Jamie's cousin, asks what Ronnie’s wife and Jamie think of Diana. As the christening starts, Michael makes it and sits with Diana at the back. He leans over and asks her if she’s sure about him and she says yes.

At the party afterwards, Michael asks Diana how her mum is. She says she can’t believe her mum misses her dad. She tells Michael to never cut her out, no matter what he's got going on. When Michael leaves her on her own, Davy’s wife Cheryl comes over to her. She says she’s never seen Michael so happy. Cheryl asks Diana if she still believes him and when she asks about what, Cheryl says there’s nothing good about their men and that she should get out while she can. Diana shuts down her advice, but Cheryl tells her to call her.

Ronnie gets closer to solving his rat problem (Image credit: BBC/Left Bank Pictures/James Stack)

Ronnie and Michael talk outside. Michael says he doesn’t believe Davy is the rat, but with their drug supply not usable, they need to get something out there. Michael suggests using what’s in the truck, but Ronnie says not in England. Use it in Spain. Michael asks him what they're going to do about the Amigos, since they can’t avoid them and owe them money. Ronnie says that they'll all go to Spain to meet with them.

It cuts to Ronnie’s family and friends including Davy, Michael and Diana at Ronnie’s Spanish villa. Rachel and her husband, Bobby are talking outside. She asks him if he's spoken to Ronnie about her ideas. She says she runs businesses and there’s a better way of doing things. She says if he doesn’t speak to him, she will. Michael then asks Davy to help him move some alcohol from the garage. Davy tells him that Cheryl couldn’t make it. As they head to the garage together, Ronnie comes over and follows them in. Suddenly, Ronnie punches Davy in the face and Michael grabs him and strangles him until he’s slumped on the ground.

All episodes of This City is Ours are available to stream on BBC iPlayer now, or released weekly on BBC One on Sundays.
