Linda Carter gave hubby Mick a slap last night after she found out he gave money to Whitney Dean... and fans were impressed.

EastEnders viewers applauded Linda Carter after she slapped husband Mick for giving money to Whitney Dean in last night's episode.

The Queen Vic landlady, played by Kellie Bright, was left furious when she found out Mick had taken money out of the pub till to give to the woman he had cheated on her with.

After Linda discovered £200 was missing from the till, Mick had to admit he had given it to Whitney, played by Shona McGarty, to help her out after she had been sacked from her job at the pub.

When Mick protested as Linda referred to Whitney as a “tart”, his wife delivered a stinging slap.

Delighted Whitney Dean tells Lee Carter she’s pregnant. But will his one-night stand with Abi Branning, or his mental health issues, cause problems?

Soaplife talks to EastEnders’ Shona McGarty about what’s to come…

Whitney Dean is now an established part of the Carter clan after she and Lee Carter [Danny-Boy Hatchard] got engaged. And it looks like she’s about to start a family of her own, too, when she learns she’s pregnant with Lee’s baby.

How does Whitney feel? “She’s so excited about the baby. It’s what she’s always wanted. She wants to give her baby a life she never had.”

So why doesn’t she tell Lee immediately? “She’s worried he may not be ready, but that won’t change her mind. She’d still have the baby regardless.”

What worries her, exactly? “A while ago, Lee kept drinking and he closed himself off from Whitney. There’s always a little bit of fear that that will come back. But since he opened up about his depression there’s been a lot more trust between them.”

Lee’s mum Linda and Whitney have had a turbulent past, too. Is their relationship is a bit stronger now? “Yeah, definitely. Linda [Kellie Bright] just needed to hear from Whitney why she kissed Mick [Danny Dyer]. Whitney’s just damaged and Linda sees a little bit of herself in Whitney. When Linda finds out Whitney’s pregnant, she’s over the moon!”

How does Lee react? “He doesn’t have time to react when he finally finds out because Linda and Mick hear everything and go straight in there for a selfie!”

And afterwards? “Whitney thinks Lee is really excited and he’s just a bit shocked, then they start buying baby books and things. It’s all happy families.”

What would Whitney do if she found out about Lee’s night with Abi? “I dread to think!”

He almost cost Stacey her life recently when she was electrocuted by a socket he had failed to fix properly. But has Lee now reached a new low point?

There’ll be a big celebration of EastEnders' 30th anniversary on Radio 2 with a special broadcast, Friday Night is EastEnders Night, on this Friday from 8-10pm.

Presented by Bobby Davro, a number of EastEnders cast past and present perform in a recorded show of singing, music and a good old Cockney knees-up at London's Hackney Empire.

Among the singing soap stars is Shona McGarty, who plays Walford's Whitney Dean. She'll be giving a performance of One Night Only, the song made famous by Beyoncé in the hit film Dreamgirls. No stranger to belting out a tune, Shona performed the Sam Cooke hit A Change Is Going To Come on Children In Need in 2012.

You can also hear Tameka Empson’s rendition of Shirley Bassey’s huge hit Big Spender, a song Tameka’s EastEnders character Kim Fox sung recently at the Queen Vic’s eventful karaoke night.

The men of Walford aren’t missing out either, with John Partridge (Christian) performing Nina Simone’s monster hit Feeling Good as well as leading the audience with the Cockney classic The Lambeth Walk. John recently starred in West End musical A Chorus Line at the London Palladium and has had a singing and dancing career for many years.

Another West End performer is Declan Bennett, AKA Walford’s Charlie Cotton, who starred in the musical Once before he arrived in EastEnders. On the Radio 2 show this Friday he’ll be singing the 1981 Dire Straits hit Romeo & Juliet.

The show will end with a rendition of the EastEnders theme tune by the BBC Concert Orchestra.

The bare cheek of it! The EastEnders cast have stripped down to their essentials on screen and off in aid of this year's BBC Children in Need and you can enjoy them allyear round in a 2015 calendar on sale for the charity.

Inspired by a recent storyline, the calendar will feature a host of Walford’s famous faces, along with some equally famous arms, legs and torsos as the cast embrace the cheeky calendar spirit.

Sonia bares her heart as the Valentine pin-up for February, while Peter Beale represents the boys – and the pickled eggs – flexing in the chippy as May’s poster-boy...

Meanwhile, Whitney and Lauren make the most of the summer, beaming from behind a lilo for August’s image!

In the soap, Sonia and Kush have been rallying their local Fat Blasters to ditch the clothes for the charity calendar and, subsequently, EastEnders execs decided to make the plans a reality.

EastEnders executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins commented: "When we developed our calendar storyline featuring so many of Albert Square's residents as viewers have never seen them before, it seemed such a shame not to share the fun with our audience. It's been a long time since EastEnders released a calendar - and this is the perfect opportunity for EastEnders fans to get hold of something a little bit special while raising money for such a worthwhile cause."

Natalie Cassidy (Sonia) said; “Everybody who took part in the calendar had a blast, and everyone should have a cheesy EastEnders calendar on their wall for 2015 - go and buy one because it's brilliant, AND you're raising money for a wonderful cause”.

EastEnders star Shona McGarty says she thinks Bianca Butcher was a bad influence on Whitney Dean's fashion choices.

Whitney's adoptive mum Bianca Butcher (Patsy Palmer) has left Walford with all her family for a new life in Milton Keynes. Shona admitted to Inside Soap magazine she misses all her onscreen family, but hopes Whitney will ditch her tracksuits and becomes a glamorous independent woman.

She said: "There's a chance for Whitney to grow and mature into a woman now - and I'm hoping she'll ditch her tracksuits.

"I think Bianca was a huge influence when it came to Whitney's fashion choices, so she might think twice now!"

The actress also revealed she hopes to see her on-screen brother Ryan Malloy back on Albert Square as a permanent cast member.

Whitney has recently been receiving text messages from her half brother, played by Neil McDermott, as he wants to see his daughter Lily.

In the latest episode of the soap (September 2) Ryan turned up to meet Whitney, but when he saw she was with his ex Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner) he left.

Shona said: "I would love Ryan to come back!

"Neil McDermott is a brilliant actor and a really good friend. It would be nice for Whit to have her brother around again."

With the hunt for Lucy Beale’s killer under way, everyone in EastEnders is trying to prove themselves innocent.

Now the BBC has released details of where some of the Albert Square residents were at the time of Lucy’s murder.

Lucy’s dad Ian, his fiancée Denise, jealous Whitney, and alcoholic Jake and others have their alibis sorted for that fateful night… But is one of them lying?

The April 18 episode saw troubled Lucy lying dead on Walford Common after receiving a text and disappearing into the night.

So where was everyone that Friday night?

Ian Beale Grief-stricken dad Ian claims he was on his own and not feeling too good.

Ian says: “Where was I on Friday night? Restaurant, of course. I remember I had this stabbing headache.”

True or false? If he was on his own he has no one to back up his story. But Ian had just told Lucy she was his “special” child before she was murdered. Would he really have then gone and killed her?

Denise Fox She returned from a visit to daughter Libby in Oxford determined to break off her engagement to Lucy’s dad Ian.

Denise says: “Friday? I only came back from Oxford so I didn’t do much. I had my head buried in a book, I think”.

True or false? Denise did visit Libby, but she claims she was on her own for the rest of the night. With no one to back up her story, she could have been anywhere. And how often have you seen Denise with her head buried in a book?

Phil Mitchell He went to Roxy’s housewarming party, but wasn’t really in the mood to have fun.

Phil says: “Friday night? Well I popped into the party but I was dying to get home.”

True or false? Party guests could back up Phil’s story about being there, but is there anyone who can confirm he went straight home afterwards?

Mick Carter Queen Vic landlord Mick says he was tending bar all night.

Mick says: “We had a pool tournament in the Vic.”

True or false? There was a pool tournament in the Vic and Mick was there… But he would have had time to disappear for a wee while if he wanted to. But why would he have wanted to kill Lucy?

Whitney Dean She turned up in the Vic Friday night, all dressed up for Lee - only to find out that Lee wanted Lucy. She left the pub and saw Lucy on the street.

Whitney says: “I was supposed to be going to the party on Friday, but I couldn’t face it; not with her there. It would have been agony.”

True or false? Whitney wouldn’t have wanted to see Lucy and Lee together. But did she follow Lucy after she saw her on the Square?

Jake Stone He claims he’d had another drinking session and passed out. He is an alcoholic so it’s very possible.

Jake says: “I don’t remember much. I’d had a few too many so I was dead to the world.”

True or false? Who knows? Even Jake probably doesn’t know for sure, given his heavy drinking. But he was looking at Lucy in a funny way in the days leading up to her murder…

There’s just one person not mentioned or questioned… yet. And that’s Lucy’s drug dealer.

Lucy admitted to Ian she was using cocaine. But who was she getting her drugs from?

And is that who she went to meet on the night she was killed?

EastEnders star Shona McGarty has complained she wants her character to get a better dress sense in 2014.

The 22-year-old actress feels her costumes have become really dowdy since her character Whitney Dean got a job as a teaching assistant.

Shona told Inside Soap magazine: "I'd like to get Whit some new clothes for Christmas - she's started dressing like someone out of a Tim Burton film since she started that teaching job. I feel like I'm in Waterloo Road sometimes!"

She added: "I'm so used to wearing a certain style of clothing to play Whitney that you forget there's other stuff out there."

Meanwhile, Shona revealed an unexpected dream love interest for Whitney – Gareth Gates.

She said: "I really fancied him and had posters of him all over my door. I always dreamed I'd be the only one who could make his stammer go away, and so he'd just be able to talk to me!"

All hell breaks loose in the Queen Vic next week when Tyler attacks Joey after he learns he slept with Whitney.

Whitney is on the rebound after she and Tyler call time on their relationship, but Tyler's not prepared for her to move on quite so fast. Whitney is inconsolable at the way her life in Albert Square has broken down and decides to leave for ever...

The pair come to blows in the Queen Vic pub after a guilt-ridden Whitney comes clean to Tyler (Tony Discipline) about spending the night with Joey (David Witts) as the couple try to fix their relationship.

Whitney, played by Shona McGarty, found solace with the heartthrob after a row with her boyfriend, where she broke off their engagement.

Later in the pub, Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) tries to convince Tyler to forgive her, but he can't hold back when he sees Joey walk in, shortly after Whitney's arrival.

Seething, Tyler flies at Joey and the two swap punches. The EastEnders hunks previously squared off after Whitney confessed to sharing a clandestine kiss with Joey.

Tony, who is dating co-star Jacqueline Jossa in real life, will leave EastEnders after two years on the show, with his exit screening later this year.
