Actress Billie Piper has been treated in hospital after a sudden attack of blindness. Panic-stricken Bille could not open her eyes normally when she woke up after a night out at a restaurant where she had suffered blurred vision, ITV has confirmed. Doctors at Moorfield's eye hospital in London have been carrying out tests to see if the former Doctor Who star has damaged her retina. A spokesperson for ITV, with whom Billie has just finished filming Secret Diary of a Call Girl, said: "The doctor has told her to rest for a few days and avoid the light. "We don't know what the cause was, but she is okay and will be resting over the weekend." Billie's eye scare began when she arrived at the Ivy restaurant in London after a photo-shoot with fashion snapper Rankin. She was spotted peering closely at her mobile and was having trouble focusing. As she stepped outside for a cigarette, she was in obvious discomfort as paprazzi flash bulbs went off around her. Experts say retinal damage caused by camera flashes are rare but they could serve as a trigger for existing conditions. Billie, 24, is dating fellow actor Laurence Fox. The couple are rumoured to be getting married this Christmas.
