EastEnders star Ann Mitchell has said how pleased she is viewers have embraced the dark side to her character Cora Cross. The actress joined the BBC One show as the charismatic pensioner last year, and after being part of several comedy storylines, she has recently had a lot of drama in her life, when her long-lost daughter Ava arrived in Albert Square. Ann told ITV's Daybreak that fans response to Cora had been "fantastic" and "very, very positive". She said: "They seem to welcome the complexity. They like the darker side, and they like the funny side." Asked to name her favourite character, she revealed how much she is enjoying working with newcomer Khali Best, who has been cast as Dexter Hartman, Cora's grandson, the son of long-lost daughter Ava. Khali's casting has only just been announced and he is yet to arrive on screen. But Ann said: "Oh God, I like all of them. Well, I'm particularly interested in my young grandson, who's coming in. But I mustn't talk about that!"
