Eamonn Holmes's fury with cancelled 1D gig earns the wrath of fans

Eamonn Holmes is not happy with One Direction after the band pulled out of a gig minutes before they were due on stage.

The boy band called off their Belfast concert on October 20 after Liam Payne was taken ill, but the This Morning presenter has slammed the group for the way they handled the situation.

Belfast-born Eamonn, 55, criticised the band for not having the 'maturity' to apologise to fans in person.

I don't care who was sick in #OneDirection Direction. Rest of them should have had the decency & maturity to appear on stage and explain.

Liam’s illness is apparently not serious, but also caused him to miss the Attitude Magazine Awards earlier in the week.

Irish radio and TV presenter Stephen Nolan tweeted that he’d been told it was actually Niall Horan who was sick – exasperating Eamonn, who questioned the band’s story.

So are they all sick ? At least they should get their story straight. https://t.co/YfPcL8LXgL

The morning TV presenter received lots of tweets expressing agreement, but he also managed to invoke the wrath of 1D’s loyal Twitter followers.

@EamonnHolmes who tf are you? just stay in your lane nobody asked you anything and nobody cares what u think

@EamonnHolmes if you saw the screens and heard what was said, it will be explained, you have no idea what's happened don't point fingers

@EamonnHolmes you have no clue what goes on in their lives, something serious could have happened, show some respect

— Niall Horan (@ohperfniallx) October 20, 2015

@EamonnHolmes and maybe you should have the decency and maturity to back off when it's clear you know nothing like everyone else

Eamonn quickly ran out of patience.

For all of you who can't read , I didn't ask for #OneDirection to Sing , I asked for them to Apologise in person to fans who turned up.

He added in another tweet: “It’s just a question of taking responsibility and being respectful. That’s all.”

According to the Daily Mirror, a spokesman for the band said: “Unfortunately One Direction have had to cancel tonight’s concert in Belfast. Liam has been taken suddenly ill, and the concert will sadly not be taking place.

“Fans have been asked to hold on to their tickets and there will be a further statement tomorrow. The band apologise to their fans and wish Liam well as soon as possible.”

Directioners were left devastated and confused after a representative from the stadium walked on stage to tell them the concert was off.

Been up from 8am this morning and right now me & @LisaAnna94 are stood in our hallway trying to take everything in about @onedirection.
