Filming begins on the 'biggest and scariest' Luther yet!

Filming has begun on a Luther two-part special, which has been billed as the show’s 'biggest and scariest story yet!'

Golden Globe-winning star Idris Elba returns as Detective Chief Inspector John Luther and we can expect the double-bill to hit our screens this autumn.

Fans of the crime series will be desperate to see the new episodes and in a press release the BBC described the new case as Luther’s toughest ever.

“Luther's back. Pitted against his most chilling adversary yet, haunted by the ghosts of his past and hell-bent on retribution, he’s drawn into a terrifyingly complex case that pushes him closer to the edge than he’s ever been…”

Rose Leslie (Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones), Laura Haddock (Guardians of the Galaxy and The Inbetweeners Movie) and Darren Boyd (Fortitude and Spy) will be joining the cast, but producers aren’t saying much about their characters at this stage.

Writer Neil Cross has also refused to say if Luther’s nemesis and love interest Alice Morgan (Ruth Wilson) will be returning.

The Luther two-part special will come to BBC1 this autumn.
