Car Share star Sian Gibson and Silent Witness star Emilia Fox have been announced among the cast of the fourth series of dark comedy Inside No. 9

Actresses Zoe Wanamaker, Emilia Fox and Sian Gibson have joined the cast of guests for a fourth series of Inside No. 9.

Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith, creators of the black comedy thriller, announced their plans for a fresh six-part series on Friday.

The pair promised brand new characters and venues and shared a photo of themselves on set, dressed up in what appear to be white forensic boiler suits.

The list of guest stars also includes Kidulthood’s Noel Clarke, W1A’s Monica Dolan and Nigel Planer, of Episodes.

Filming has already kicked off at Pinewood Studios and Waltham Abbey, as well as locations in west London.

“We feel ridiculously privileged to find ourselves at Pinewood Studios filming a new set of episodes,” they said. “We are getting through more actors than Midsomer Murders and it’s a dream to work with the country’s finest once again.

“As ever, we’ve attempted a real mix of styles and genres, including one really brilliant episode and one really disappointing one; we look forward to viewers debating which is which.”

Producer Adam Tandy added: “This year’s films once again take place at, in, on or around a big number nine, all of them entirely different and each one filled with a unique and delicious mixture of comedy, drama, love, intrigue, ancient curses, industry gossip, room service and murderous intent. Take your pick.”

The anthology of dark, twisted fables – all centred on the number nine – has previously starred the likes of Sheridan Smith, Jack Whitehall, Felicity Kendal and Mark Benton.

Its third series concluded last month with Private View, a story that saw a bizarre collection of people visit an east London art installation that threatened their own death.

Steve and Reece rose to fame with creepy comedy series The League Of Gentlemen and Psychoville, before creating Inside No. 9.

Shane Allen, the channel’s comedy commissioning controller, said: “Reece and Steve continue to dazzle and amaze with their ever-inventive powers of story-telling.

“Their terrific writing has lured the cream of British acting talent to serve up six completely new and sublimely conceived treats.”
