But will Albert’s attempts to throw the perfect family Christmas for Victoria backfire?

The Victoria Christmas Special is taking centre stage in ITV’s Christmas line-up and to celebrate they’ve released a string of new pictures from the episode, called Comfort and Joy.

Victoria (Jenna Coleman), Albert (Tom Hughes) are pictured in this beautiful snowy scene with their first daughter, Vicky.

Victoria, who’s pregnant with her fourth child in the episode, is seen celebrating all of the festivities of a Victorian Christmas at Buckingham Palace.

Set in 1846, the two-hour special, which will be shown on Christmas Day at 9pm on ITV, sees Victoria uncharacteristically melancholy as she prepares to tackle her first Christmas without her beloved Baroness Lehzen.

To add to her woes, the festive period reminds her of her terribly lonely childhood at Kensington.

Albert, for his part, wants to throw the perfect family Christmas, but tensions mount between the couple when he invites some guests Victoria doesn’t like.

Meanwhile, below stairs Francatelli and Skerrett are finally together. But, is their budding romance doomed as relationships amongst staff are banned?

The pair cannot show that they’re in love to their co-workers which puts strain on the relationship. And things get even more complicated when Skerrett inherits a large estate from an estranged uncle.

The special has been penned by creator Daisy Goodwin. The Victoria Christmas Special is on 9pm on ITV on Christmas Day.
