Chris Evans to have first interview with Jeremy Clarkson since the 'fracas' on Radio 2

Jeremy Clarkson is returning to the BBC – for an interview on Radio 2 with breakfast host Chris Evans.

The 55-year-old is expected to speak about his future in the studio with Chris on Thursday morning, in his first interview since being axed as Top Gear presenter following his attack on producer Oisin Tymon.

Jeremy’s contract was not renewed by the BBC in February after an internal inquiry and speculation has been rife over his next move and that of former co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond, who have not signed new BBC contracts.

Chris, who had been tipped to replace Jeremy on the BBC’s hit motoring show, told listeners yesterday: “Jeremy Clarkson will be here live in the studio and he will be participating in an interview with myself between 8am and 8.30am.

“It’s the first interview he’s given since parting company with the BBC as far as Top Gear is concerned. He will be talking about what’s going on with him now, and Richard and James as well, and what perhaps could be going on in the future.”

Jeremy, Richard and James are believed to have been in negotiation with a streaming service, such as Amazon or Netflix and reports have also linked them with ITV. The BBC plans to relaunch Top Gear with new presenters.
