Cowell hires lawyers to sort Cheryl's US visa woes
Simon Cowell is reportedly helping Cheryl Cole to sort out visa troubles so she can crack America. The Girls Aloud singer was found guilty of assaulting a toilet attendant in 2003 and the conviction is threatening to spoil her chances of getting the necessary paperwork, reports The Sun. A source told the newspaper: "Simon was dazzled by Cheryl's performance on The X Factor. He's certain he can turn her into a global star, but he just needs to iron out her visa problem." And The X Factor guru is so determined to break Cheryl in America that he has hired a team of lawyers to get her the work permit. The insider added: "What Cheryl did was a long time ago and entirely out of character. She has never put a foot wrong since. Simon is certain her impeccable behaviour since her conviction should be stressed when they make their next application." Simon, who also appears as a judge on American Idol, has big plans for Cheryl and has begun talks to secure her a spot on Oprah Winfrey’s show this year. Cheryl was found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm to toilet attendant Sophie Amogbokpa six years ago. The singer had denied the attack, saying she only punched her in self-defence.
