Two stars of the iconic teenage drama series Beverly Hills 90210 are making a comeback in a spin-off show on E4. The new show, called 90210, will premiere on E4 in 2009 and will star two of the original cast, Shannen Doherty as Brenda Walsh and Jennie Garth, who plays the school guidance counseller, Kelly Taylor. Set in West Beverly Hills High School, the new series follows the lives of Annie Wilson and her brother Dixon after their family relocates from Kansas, starring The Wire’s Tristan Wilds as Dixon Wilson and Canadian actress Shenae Grimes as Annie. E4 beat off stiff competition from ITV2 and Five to get exclusive distribution rights for the UK. Jeff Ford, Director of Acquisitions at Channel 4 said: "90210 is one of the hottest series to come out of the US right now, and we are thrilled that E4 and Channel 4 will be its UK home." Created by Aaron Spelling and Darren Star in 1990, the original show ran for ten years, propelling Jason Priestly, Luke Perry, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling on to international fame.
