The last series of Homeland ended with Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) and the gang pulling out of Pakistan and heading home to the U.S. But the show’s executive producer Alex Gansa has revealed that the troubled CIA agent may be on the move again when the drama returns for a fifth series.

“We’re shooting in Germany,” revealed Gansa, at annual TV forum PaleyFest in Los Angeles. “I can’t say another word.”

Most of the show’s international action has taken place in the Middle East, but the change of location doesn’t mean the drama will take place in Germany.

Although it was filmed in South Africa, the fourth series was actually set in Pakistan and spurred criticism from Pakistani officials about the way the country and its government were portrayed.

But while Gansa refused to expand on why filming on the new series will take place in Europe, he did reveal another big secret – that the drama will jump two and a half years into the future, where Carrie won’t be fighting terrorists. “Carrie will no longer be an intelligence officer,” he said.
