'I'm firing myself from Apprentice spin-off,' says comic Jack Dee

Jack Dee has confirmed his departure as host of The Apprentice: You’re Fired after one series.

The comedian took over from Dara O’Briain, who presented the BBC Two spin-off for five years, in 2015, but has stepped down due to work commitments.

Jack said: "It's been a tough decision to leave You're Fired.

"I'd like to thank The Apprentice team, BBC Two, the candidates and the 'Big Man' Lord Sugar himself for making me feel so welcome but now, in keeping with The Apprentice tradition, I am firing myself.

"Good luck with the next series."

Jack is currently filming series two of Josh Widdicombe's eponymous sitcom and continues to host Radio 4's I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue.

His BBC2 comedy Jack Dee's Helpdesk is also set to return for specials throughout the year.

A replacement host for the weekly show, which picks apart the show’s business candidates, has not yet been announced.
