Lady Gaga, a vocal opponent of US President Donald Trump, focused on the music as she dived to her performance during half time of Super Bowl 51

Lady Gaga performed a medley of her biggest hits during a patriotic performance at the Super Bowl, but avoided using the platform to voice her opposition to Donald Trump.

The music star, who has been vocal opponent of the US president, repeated the words of America’s pledge of allegiance during her energetic set at the NRG stadium in Houston, Texas.

But the singer, who staged a protest outside New York’s Trump Tower after the US election result, did not mention the president on stage, telling the crowd: “America, world… we’re here to make you feel good.”

Gaga, 30, started the half-time show by standing on the stadium roof where she sang God Bless America and This Land Is Your Land.

She then spoke the words: “One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

Dressed in a metallic leotard emblazoned with sequins and wearing knee length boots, Gaga was lowered into the stadium from the roof by a wire.

She performed Poker Face, Born This Way and Telephone before donning a gold jacket with spiked shoulders for her rendition of Just Dance.

As she played piano for her song Million Reasons, Gaga said; ‘Hey dad, hi mum’, before completing her set with a performance of Bad Romance surrounded by dozens of dancers.
