Pete's Peek | Grindhouse Trailer Classics Volume 3 is a luridly colourful pick 'n' mix of crazy titles from the fleapit cinemas of the 1970s

Grindhouse Trailer Classics Volume 3 is the latest release from cult movie expert Marc Morris and genre director Jake West's Nucleus Films label. This lovingly-compiled collection of 55 trailers delves into the darkest reaches of 1970s exploitation cinema, unearthing a host of cult movies that makes for a smashing smorgasbord of Grindhouse pleasure.

With titles like Moonshine County Express and Macon County Line, you know you are in for some 'good ole' Southern hospitality of the Hicksploitation kind, while Sweden is 'the sex capital of the world, where topless bands beat out the throbbing rhythm of a turned on generation' in flesh-tastic flicks like Swedish Wife Exchange Club, Swedish Fly Girls and the Edmund Purdom-narrated Sweden: Heaven and Hell. The action then really heats up in the women-in-chains films Terminal Island and Black Mama, White Mama, while the girls kick some series ass in Police Women and Superchick.

Some of my favourites are the derisible It Came Without Warning, featuring a hammy Jack Palance being pursued by alien armed with a deadly frisbee; the Eurosleaze cults The Lady in the Car with Glasses and Gun and Lizard in a Woman’s Skin (these deliciously evocative titles are matched by some way out visuals); and the spooky promos for The Touch of Satan and Night Evelyn Came out of the Grave (I'm hunting them down now).

But it's the narration that's the real howler. They're a copywriter's dream, especially the blaxploitation actioners which all sound like rap-cum-beat poets in motion. If fact, If somebody set them to some cool tunes today, they could sound kinda hip.

A Mondo mind-bending disc choc-full of the craziest choice picks of cinematic sex, gore and violence from the flea-pit cinemas of the yesteryear, Grindhouse Trailer Classics Volume 3 is a must for exploitation movie fans!
