Philip Glenister to replace Jeremy Clarkson?

As politically-incorrect cop DCI Gene Hunt, Philip Glenister was often heard saying “fire up the Quattro”, referring to his Audi police car. But it looks like the Life On Mars actor is set to get into a whole range of motors if the rumours that is being lined up to join Top Gear are true.

According to The Sun, the actor - who reprised his role as Hunt in the sequel Ashes To Ashes - is to replace sacked presenter Jeremy Clarkson.

Philip certainly has the experience to take on the role. Not only has appeared in the “Star in a Reasonably Priced Car” segment of the BBC2 motoring show, but he also fronts the C4 series For the Love of Cars in which he restores classic cars that have seen better days with the help of designer Ant Anstead.

"Philip is a real man’s man, so we know he will appeal to the viewers who tuned in because they liked Jeremy," an insider told The Sun.

"But we also know he has a lot of credibility because he is a genuine car fanatic, and is clearly very comfortable talking about them."

A spokesman for either the BBC and Glenister have not replied to the paper.
