Splash! contestant Una Foden suffers broken toe

The new series of celebrity diving show Splash! has suffered a casualty before the show has even begun, after Saturdays star Una Foden sustained a broken toe during training.

According to reports the singer was left "in agony" as a result of the injury during rehearsals - but is still hoping to take part in the Tom Daley-fronted series.

She took to Twitter to reveal the news to her followers, saying: "I've had a broken baby toe for a couple of weeks. I know it's the poorest excuse for a moan but boy does it hurt.

A show insider added: "Una has been putting everything into her training but is having to take it as easy as possible right now because she's in a lot of pain.

"She wasn't even diving off the board when it happened. She was practising landing in foam in a 'dry dive area' and her foot just buckled."

The mother-of-one is not scheduled to appear in the first show of the ITV series, which will kick off on January 4 at 7.20pm.

That show will feature Hollyoaks' Gemma Merna, TOWIE's Gemma Collins, former EastEnder Ricky Groves, Diversity star Perry Kiely and TV presenter Michaela Strachan.

Una is the second celebrity to come a cropper during rehearsals, with presenter Rav Wilding being forced to quit the series due to a leg injury.
