After taking on several rivals for the role, Barbary macaque Mac is enjoying his position as alpha male of a troop in the Atlas Mountains, Morocco. But it soon becomes clear that it won’t be an easy ride. This one-off episode of Dynasties, narrated once again by Sir David Attenborough, follows Mac’s first year in charge as he tries to protect his troop and keep his crown, leading them through a drought and a frozen winter.

But when a brutal attack sees him deposed and left in exile, Mac’s only chance of surviving another bitter winter lies with staging a counter-attack and retaking control of the troop. Is he up to the challenge?

Emily in Paris season 3, Netflix

Lily Collins in Emily in Paris season 2

Emily in Paris is back, and fans are no doubt dying to see more drama, laughter and love in the highly anticipated third season of the hit Netflix series. A lot of the plot has been kept under wraps until it's released, but we do know a little bit.

In season 3, Emily seems to have a massively chaotic work life with her new job with Sylvie causing her drama, and she also seems to have an equally complicated love life. Will she finally be able to settle down and balance things? We'll have to wait and see!

Best film on TV tonight

Spectre, 8pm, ITV1

Spectre Daniel Craig James Bond 007

The 24th Bond movie was Daniel Craig’s fourth outing as 007 and saw the superspy learning of the existence of a secret organisation called Spectre, headed by one Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Christoph Waltz), a supervillain with a fondness for a long-haired white cat.

Bond groupies tend to blow a bit hot and cold on the film, and while it’s not the most dynamic action movie ever made, it is brilliant as a greatest hits remix of Bond’s best bits and the springboard for a lively game of ‘spot the reference’. Injecting a bit of freshness is Léa Seydoux as Bond’s love interest, a role she’d reprise in Daniel Craig’s swansong, No Time to Die (New Year’s Day, 8pm, ITV1).
