Veronica Mars returns for its long-awaited fourth season with new trailer

What you need to know

• Veronica Mars is back for its fourth season with a new trailer.

• Among the cast is Kristen Bell, J.K. Simmons and Patton Oswalt.

• An unknown bomber is wreaking havoc on Nepture and Mars must investigate.

After taking a 12 year break, Veronica Mars is coming back. The first trailer for the long-awaited fourth season just dropped and it sets the stage for a standoff between Mars and a serial bomber.

Kristen Bell returns as the titular character, and she is as tough as ever. She is joined by other recurring stars like Enrico Colantoni, Jason Dohring, and newcomers J.K. Simmons and Patton Oswalt.

Here's the official synopsis for the fourth season:

Spring breakers are getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town's lifeblood tourist industry. After Mars Investigations is hired by the family of one of the victims to find their son's killer, Veronica is drawn into an epic eight-episode mystery that pits the enclave's wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast's answer to Daytona Beach.

The series originally debuted on the new defunct UPN network and was sadly cancelled in 2007. Then in 2014 the gang got back together for a Veronica Mars movie before the series was revived by Hulu.

The fourth season of Veronica Mars will be available to stream on Hulu starting July 26.
