Chat show host James Corden has revealed which superstar rapper has previously stood him up for an appearance on Carpool Karaoke

Since it began in 2015, the Carpool Karaoke segment of James Corden's late-night talk has taken on a life of its own.

The British TV presenter has picked-up countless celebrity passengers including Mariah Carey, Paul McCartney, then First Lady Michelle Obama, Elton John, Take That, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Madonna.

But superstar rapper and music producer Kanye West has still to join the list, having previously cancelled a planned appearance on Carpool Karaoke.

During an interview on The Late Late Show, Kris Jenner asked why her superstar son-in-law, who is married to Kris's daughter Kim Kardashian, had never appeared in the hotseat on Carpool Karaoke and James replied:

"We’ve tried. He’s canceled twice. Maybe even three times. He canceled once as I was turning the corner to his house. I was in a car, and by the time the call finished, I was sat outside his house, and they were like, ‘He’s not in the zone for it right now. We’ll do it another time.’"

James also revealed the rapper later sent some gifts as a way of an apology, including a pair of his mega expensive Yeezys designer trainers. But he hasn't given up hope of landing Kanye (aka Yeezy) for a future appearance.

"He’s my dream, he knows that," said James. "He’s my absolute dream."

Earlier this summer Kanye and Kim appeared on an episode of Celebrity Family Feud on US TV, competing against Kim's mum Kris and sisters Khloe and Kendall to win money for charity.

The Late Late Show with James Corden airs on Sky TV's on demand service and Now TV in the UK
