Ex Casualty star Rebekah Gibbs dies, aged 41

Former Casualty and Holby City star, Rebekah Gibbs, has died aged 41, six years after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Rebekah played paramedic Nina Farr in the medical dramas, appearing in over 100 episodes between 2004 and 2006, when she left to start a family with her long-term partner, Ashley, whom she later married.

Shortly before the birth of her daughter, Gigi, in 2008, Rebekah discovered a lump in her breast which was found to be cancerous. She wrote of her treatment in her column in The Mirror. Despite celebrating five years of being cancer-free, in April Rebekah suffered a seizure while on holiday in Devon with her family and she learned the cancer had returned, in her brain and lung.

According tot he BBC, Rebekah passed away in a hospice on Remembrance Sunday, November 9.

Her agents, Belfield and Ward, announced the news, tweeting: 'Darling Rebekah Gibbs, a true inspiration and dazzling light, never to be forgotten.'

James Redmond, who co-starred with Rebekah in Casualty, tweeted: "So sad to hear lovely Rebekah Gibbs has passed away. She lit up every room with her smile and positivity. R.I.P."

Coronation Street actress Hayley Tamaddon tweeted: "My dear friend passed away today. A true star, always smiling and so positive. So many memories. We will never forget you Becky. Keep twinkling. Wherever you are."

As well as Casualty, Rebekah also appeared in The Bill and on stage in A Chorus Line, Grease and Starlight Express.
