Heartbeat’s Pc Mike Bradley meets the Godfather Al Pacino

Ever wondered what happened to Jason Durr after he quit his role as Pc Mike Bradley ITV’s Heartbeat in 2003?

Jason went to Hollywood - and mingled with mega star Al Pacino.

But now Jason, 46, is back in Britain, living in the West Country with his TV presenter wife Kate Charman and their three children,  daughter Blossom, eight, and four-year-old twins Felix and Velvet.

“I fell into acting by accident. I was pretty rubbish at everything else!” Jason told the Daily Express.

"Somehow, I got into LAMDA [London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art] and then went to the Royal Shakespeare Company, working with Trevor Nunn and Simon Callow.

“When I started getting offered TV parts, I jumped straight in. Heartbeat came along in the late Nineties. I knew it was going to be a big step up, but I don’t think I realised just how huge the show was.

“By about 2002, I knew it was time to move on. I returned to the theatre, but then I took the plunge and went to the States. Hollywood is definitely different.

"You find yourself in the same room as screen icons, like Al Pacino. I couldn’t believe it. I was sitting there with the Godfather! What was he like? Meeting Mr Pacino was… well, let’s call it interesting. Interesting and occasionally amusing.

“After my wife, Kate, became pregnant with our twins, we decided it was time to come home.

“It took a while to re-establish myself, but I think I’ve just about sorted out the whole work/life balance thing. My production company has a couple of films on the go and I’ve just begun work on a stage production of The Mummy. But I also get to spend proper time with my family.”
