I'm A Celebrity: Campmates left in tears over initial trials

The jungle antics are only just underway - but some of this year's I'm A Celebrity campmates have already been thrown in at the deep end.

Fresh prince star Alfonso Ribeiro and TOWIE's Joey Essex were among the early victims of the series' first bushtucker trial, Rotten Roulette - which saw them brought face to face with jungle critters soon after their arrival.

The task saw the campmates divided into teams in a bid to win more food and better living quarters than their rivals - with celebrities having to complete jigsaw puzzles in creepy-crawly-filled boxes.

And while Lucy Pargeter and Steve Davis fared well when faced with scorpions and lizards, Alfonso and Joey weren't quite so keen - with the former visibly tearful after the trial was over.

"It will take me a second to de-compose...that was tougher than I thought," he admitted.

Meanwhile Joey - who is the bookies' favourite to be voted in to the most bushtucker trials - also appeared unimpressed by his reptilian companions, complaining that one of the lizards in the box was 'scratching the hell out of me'.

Other early challenges have seen the celebrities skydiving onto a remote island, with the teams taking each other on in a race - with one more night of luxury at stake.

The losing team, meanwhile, was faced with the prospect of spending the night on the island.

The celebrities' arrival in the jungle - and the first trial - will be among the highlights of Sunday night's I'm A Celebrity series opener, which kicks off on ITV at 9pm.
