Kerry Katona has said she is 'over the moon' after announcing her engagement to boyfriend George Kay on Twitter.

The 32-year-old reality TV star has in the past battled bipolar disorder, debt and heartbreak after two failed marriages, but she now can't contain her happiness.

Kerry tweeted at the weekend: "Good morning twitter land!! Just woke up with a very very heavy left hand?? Ooooo it's my engagement ring!! Woohoo.

"Think I'm gonna need a sling to carry my arm in my hand is so heavy hehehe.

"What an amazing weekend I've had... I'm sooooo happy and over the moon, even tho I've got lots of ironing to do."

The Atomic Kitten star also posted a picture of the massive diamond-encrusted ring and a photo of her, her children and George, 33, jumping around celebrating with a bottle of champagne.

Kerry wrote: "Me and the kids are so happy!"

Kerry and George have been dating for nine months.

She is mother to Molly and Lilly-Sue from her first marriage to Bryan McFadden, and Heidi and Maxwell from her second marriage to Mark Croft.
