Michael le Vell offered I'm A Celebrity...deal

Coronation Street star Michael le Vell has reportedly been offered £500,000 to appear on the next series of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!

According to the Sunday Mirror ITV bosses are keen to give the actor - who was cleared of child sex offences earlier this month - a chance to prove he can cope for two weeks in the jungle without drinking.

The actor's struggles against alcohol came to light during his recent trial, when he admitted he often drank as much as 12 pints a night.

"Michael has held talks about going on to I'm A Celeb and he's definitely up for it," a source told the paper.

Michael thinks people will see a different side to him and he likes an adventure. His brother lives in Australia and he has spent a lot of time Down Under in the past few years.

“There is a lot of money on the table for Michael and it couldn’t come at a better time because the court case has left him skint. But one of the main conditions laid down by producers is that he needs to show he is able to cope without a drink.

The insider added: "Everyone knows Michael loves a beer. But he is also a professional whose drinking has never got in the way of work."

Michael was recently offered a deal to return to Coronation Street following his acquittal, although producers warned him he needed to be able to curb his booze.

His character Kevin Webster is tipped to return at Christmas, with sources saying a festive comeback "would be a ratings sensation".

I'm A Celebrity...is due to return to screens in November, with TOWIE's Joey Essex and The Apprentice's Luisa Zissman among the early names rumoured to be taking part.
