Natasha Kaplinsky 'turned down' I'm A Celeb

Newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky has revealed she was asked to take part in ITV's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! but turned the offer down.

Natasha - whose new show The People's Medal debuts later this month - is no stranger to the reality show circuit, having been crowned winner of Strictly Come Dancing in 2004.

However it was a different story when it came to the jungle.

"The Bank of England does not have enough money to get me in there," she told the Radio Times.

"I've been invited and I said a very firm but polite no."

The 13th series of I'm A Celebrity is due on screens later this year, with former Apprentice winner Stella English and TOWIE's Joey Essex among the early contenders tipped to be taking part.

Meanwhile Natasha, whose new show celebrates ordinary members of the public, said that she had found a way of controlling her emotions when reporting sad stories on the news.

"One of the big lessons I learned about reading the news was that, if there's a very emotional story, you should watch it before you introduce it," she explained.

"If you can't do that, try not to watch while you're in the studio, just concentrate on preparing for the next script."
