Doctor Foster, 9.00pm, BBC1 – NEW DRAMA

Doctor Foster 5th September

Cancel all plans for the next five weeks; your only appointment is with Gemma Foster. Few TV characters are as compelling as the highly strung GP and as she returns, Suranne Jones gives another barnstorming performance. As the cracking opener begins, Gemma’s world is rocked again when she learns that her cheating ex-husband Simon is moving back to Parminster with Kate and their baby. The fact Gemma decides to poke around their new home before they move in suggests she may not be over her betrayal… Cue an epic power struggle between the Fosters – we wouldn’t like to bet on who’ll win, as Simon (Bertie Carvel) is also on super-shifty form! The 21st Century Race for Space, 9.00pm, BBC2 – NEW DOCUMENTARY

Th 21st Century 5th September

An out-of-this-world doc from Professor Brian Cox on the future of space exploration. Brian meets the world’s first space tourist, Dennis Tito, and the dreamers and scientists hoping to mine asteroids for minerals, protect Earth’s resources by moving heavy industry to space and even launch a manned trip to Mars within seven years. Is the dream of a future living and working in space back on? Truly thrilling. Rating: *****

Baggy Body Club, 9.00pm, ITV – NEW DOCUMENTARY

Baggy Body Club 5th September

Presenter and actress Lisa Riley stunned fans when she lost 12 stone – but even though she’d shrunk from a size 28 to a 12, Lisa still wasn’t happy with her figure – a ‘baggy body’ blighted by a huge amount of excess skin. This unflinching documentary (the scenes of surgery are not for the squeamish) follows Lisa as she considers an operation to remove it, meets people who had similar procedures and, after going for it, endures a painful recovery. Will it all be worth it? A Save Money: Lose Weight special precedes this at 7.30pm. Rating: ***
