BBC announces celeb gymnastics show Let's Get Ready to Tumble

After learning to skate on Dancing On Ice, Samba on Strictly and dive on Splash!, celebrities will soon be trying out gymnastics...

Some time next year, Let's Get Ready To Tumble will be shown live on BBC1 on Saturday nights and will see actors, newsreaders and pop stars somersaulting and backflipping to try to win the public's votes.

Each daredevil celebrity will team up with a professional gymnast, who'll train them in various disciplines, including the horizontal bar and the tumble track. It's hoped that 2012 Olympic medalists Louis Smith and Beth Tweddle will take part in the show, which has also been backed by British Gymnastics. Both Louis and Beth have entered the celebrity reality show world before - Louis was Strictly Come Dancing champion last year, while Beth won Dancing On Ice earlier this year.

"One thing's for certain, you can expect the celebs to be pushed out of their comfort zone in what is probably the most physically demanding show of its kind anywhere in the world," says Katie Taylor, Controller of BBC Entertainment and Events.

Let's Get Ready To Tumble is due to screen next spring and could well become a rival to ITV's Britain's Got Talent... But which stars will take part?

Nicholas Cannon
TV Content Director on TV Times, What's On TV and TV & Satellite Week

I'm a huge fan of television so I really have found the perfect job, as I've been writing about TV shows, films and interviewing major television, film and sports stars for over 25 years. I'm currently TV Content Director on What's On TV, TV Times, TV and Satellite Week magazines plus Whattowatch.com. I previously worked on Woman and Woman's Own in the 1990s. Outside of work I swim every morning, support Charlton Athletic football club and get nostalgic about TV shows Cagney & Lacey, I Claudius, Dallas and Tenko. I'm totally on top of everything good coming up too.
