Cheryl Cole 'rejected' as Voice judge

Cheryl Cole has reportedly been ruled out as a possible replacement for Jessie J on The Voice, due to her previous association with The X Factor.

The Girls Aloud singer had been tipped as a potential candidate to fill the spot left by Jessie when she announced she would not be back for the 2014 series.

However The Sun is now reporting that Cheryl is out of the running.

"Even though Cheryl is a massive name, she's still too closely identified with The X Factor," a source told the paper.

"Producers want to bring on stars who don't have that kind of previous relationship."

Cheryl left The X Factor in 2010 to become a judge on the US version of the show - but she was dropped from the judging panel after just four days of filming.

Both Jessie and The Script's Danny O'Donoghue have quit the panel of The Voice, while will.i.am and Tom Jones have yet to confirm whether they will be back next year.

However will - who has reportedly been offered a job as a judge on American Idol - has previously indicated he would only be willing to return to the show if Tom, Jessie and Danny were all on board.
