The BBC's annual Children In Need telethon has raised over £19m for charity, following Friday night's star-studded show. The fundraiser - now in its 28th year - generated a total of £19,089,771 which will be used to support disadvantaged children in the UK. Friday's seven hour show - hosted by Terry Wogan and Fearne Cotton - featured a host of performances from musicians, including Boyzone, Leona Lewis, David Gray and Annie Lennox. The Spice Girls also appeared, singing on UK TV for the first time since they reunited earlier this year. The quintet performed the official Children In Need single Headlines (Friendship Never Ends) as well as their 1998 hit Stop. Other personalities also did their bit for the charity, including the EastEnders cast, John Barrowman and Myleene Klass. And a special Doctor Who sequence filmed specially for the show saw David Tennant starring alongside former Doctor Who Peter Davison. Meanwhile the BBC newsreaders made their annual contribution to the event, this year performing All That Jazz from the musical Chicago. The total raised was up slightly on the 2006 telethon, which raised £18.3m on the night and went on to raise more than £33m.
