Connie Fisher set up her own little 'Elvis-a-thon' to help her play a woman who's obsessed with the King of Rock 'n' Roll. The actress - best known as Maria in the West End production of The Sound Of Music - admitted she watched 'hours upon hours' of Elvis DVDs after being cast in ITV1 Christmas drama Caught In A Trap. "I am now an Elvis fan. Before I kind of appreciated his music, I think my parents appreciated his music more than I did, but having watched hours upon hours of Elvis DVDs I am now appreciating what a great storyteller he is," she said. She went on: "I've learnt a lot from Elvis now." Connie confessed she battled a few nerves before starring in the drama. "It's really exciting," she said. "But it was also really nerve-wracking and weird not to just be Connie on telly. "The technique of musical theatre is much bigger than TV acting and every little flick of the eye is picked up on screen, so it took a lot of adaption to get used to that. I was thrown in the deep end, but it was a great experience." Caught In A Trap will be shown on ITV1 on Boxing Day. Get exclusive access to your favourite stars. Subscribe to TV Times magazine
